More than 6 million tons of the oil have been extracted in the Skybа Zone of the Ukrainian Carpathians. In particular, 4.2 million tons of oil (85.7% of total production) were obtained from the Yamna sandstones of Paleocene, which are characterized by satisfactory physical properties. Most of the areas of fields that exploited them are located in the Boryslav oil and gas production area. Among them are such oil fields as Skhidnytsko-Urytske (more than 3.8 million tons of oil extracted), Violeta, Faustina, MEP, Miriam and Ropne. Outside this area, oil was extracted in Strilbychi and Staraya Sol. At most of these fields, oil horizons are at a depth of only 100-800 m. The gas and condensate are extracted at the field of Tanyavа in the wing of the Vytvytska Luska of the Berehova Skyba, which has been torn off by the thrust. In addition, a very large number of natural oil and gas manifestations - direct signs of oil and gas potential - have been recorded in the Skyba Zone. All this indicates the potential prospects of structures within the Skyba Zone, including shallow ones. The distribution area of Yamna sandstones is much larger than the area of these deposits. The distribution area of sandstones of Yamna is much larger than the area of these deposits. It occupies about half of the area of Skyba Zone. Part of it can be considered promising, removing areas where of Yamna sandstones are present on the day surface, although, even in such conditions, they are in some cases industrially oil-bearing (Strelbychi oil field). Sandstones of Yamna are characterized by satisfactory reservoir properties., The calculated porosity and permeability reach the maximum values at known deposits: 0.182 and 130 ∙ 10–3 microns2 respectively, and the estimated thickness of 13.5 m. In the Folded Carpathians and, especially, within the north-eastern fragments (Beregova, Oriv, Skoliv) in different years performed a large amount of field seismic surveys. On the basis of the obtained materials, for the first time in the Carpathian region structural constructions were made on the reflecting horizons in the Paleocene (Yamna Formation) and in the Stryi Formation of the Upper Cretaceous. This article evaluates the prospects of these research objects. The Khodkiv and Osichnyanska structures of Berehova Skyba are recommended for conducting search works.

Skylark plots (unsown plots; 10–25 m2 per ha) in autumn cereal fields have had positive effects on Skylark density and reproductive success on conventional farms in Britain. We tested if the same effect could be found in organic farms in Sweden by comparing paired fields with and without unsown plots in similar settings. We found that the plots had no effect. Skylark density was only associated (negatively) with field size and not with occurrence of Skylark plots, vegetation structure, yield or weed harrowing. Number of clutches per territory was affected by yield (negative) and vegetation cover (positive) but not by Skylark plots. Number of fledglings per clutch showed negative association with yield and visibility through the sward. The amount of weed was larger near Skylark plots from the preceding year than in other parts of the field. The yield (and probably vegetation density) was lower on these fields than in conventional autumn sown fields, but still negative effects of the crop (yield levels) were found.

Abstract. Small satellites play an increasing role in earth observation. This article evaluates different possibilities of utilizing data from Planet’s SkySat and PlanetScope satellites constellations for derivation of digital elevation models. While SkySat provides high resolution image data with a ground sampling distance of up to 50 cm, the PlanetScope constellation consisting of Dove 3U cubesats provide images with a resolution of around 4 m. The PlanetScope acquisition strategy was not designed for stereo acquisitions, but for daily acquisition of nadir viewing imagery. Multiple different products can be acquired by the SkySat satellites: Collects covering an area of usually 12 by 6 km, tri-stereo collects and video products with a framerate of 30 Hz. This study evaluates DSM generation using a Semi-Global Matching from multi date stereo pairs for SkySat and PlanetScope, and the dedicated Video and tri-stereo SkySat acquisitions. DSMs obtained by merging many PlanetScope across track stereo pairs show an normalized median deviation against LiDaR first pulse data of 5.2 meter over diverse landcover at the test sites around the city of Terrassa in Catalonia, Spain. SkySat tri-stereo products with 80 cm resolution reach an NMAD of 1.3 m over Terrassa.

To assess the accuracy of remote, real-time mathematical simulations of wetness duration and air temperature, hourly measurements of wetness duration and air temperature at 18 sites in the United States and Canada from May to September 1995 were compared with simulations for these sites provided by SkyBit, Inc. SkyBit simulations of mean, maximum, and minimum daily air temperatures varied from on-site measurements by less than 0.7°C but underestimated the duration of wet periods by an average of 3.4 h/day. At five of six stations tested, SkyBit underestimates of wetness duration were significantly (P < 0.01) larger on days when no rain was measured than on rainy days, indicating that simulations of dew-period duration were much less accurate than simulations of rain-period duration. The vast majority of hours SkyBit misclassified as dry occurred either when entire wet periods were missed (59.3%) or when the onset of a wet period was detected late (28.4%). The results suggest that revision of SkyBit wetness-simulation models should focus on reducing error rates during dew events. In simulations using two disease-warning models, TOM-CAST and Melcast, with mean values of measured and SkyBit-simulated wetness duration, SkyBit-simulated values resulted in fewer and later fungicide spray advisories than did measured values. The magnitude of these impacts varied with the magnitude of the simulation errors and with differences in the models' decision rules.

This thesis investigates the history of Skylab from political, social, and public relations perspectives. It focuses on the reasons to build Skylab, the difficulties Skylab met and most importantly how NASA overcame these difficulties by selling Skylab actively. The thesis argues that in order to maximize popular support and interest in Skylab to secure funding, NASA improved its public relations and sold Skylab according to public expectations. The first chapter explores how and why NASA selected Skylab as the program to succeed Apollo. Politically, NASA built Skylab for national prestige and to facilitate international cooperation. Socioeconomically and scientifically, Skylab provided employment opportunities and improved people’s daily life. These features of Skylab diverged from the competitive nature of the early space program, and gave NASA new justifications for continuing the space program. The second chapter focuses on budgetary limitations, and inadequate popular support and interest towards Skylab. Many voices from the public criticized the American space program for not bringing practical benefits. These voices urged the United States government to cut spending for space exploration, and channel the resources to areas such as public works and education instead. NASA was aware of these challenges and publicized Skylab accordingly. The final Chapter explores how NASA tailored its presentation of Skylab according to the interest of different stakeholders, so to assuage their concerns and gain their support for Skylab. NASA sold the space station by actively involving members from the public such as students and scientists in Skylab. Skylab became a project which was worth the high cost, and which could contribute practically to society.

Det finns ett stort intresse för omega-3 idag på grund av dess många hälsogivande egenskaper. Brist på vissa typer av fett i kosten kan vara en viktig faktor för kognitiv nedsättning, demens och Alzheimers sjukdom. Dokosahexaensyra (DHA) är den dominerande omega-3-fettsyran i hjärnan. Det finns många faktorer som förklarar varför fettsyraintaget kan påverka kognitiva funktioner och risken att bli dement. Obduktionsstudier visar att patienter med Alzheimer har mindre mängd DHA i hjärnan än kognitivt intakta individer. Dessutom är serumkoncentrationerna av DHA reducerade i relation till sjukdomens svårighetsgrad. Vad som är orsak och verkan i denna process är dock inte klart. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att undersöka i vilken utsträckning omega-3 kan förebygga demens hos friska medelålders eller äldre (> 50 år) personer. Av de sex studier som inkluderades var två randomiserade kliniska prövningar (RCT), tre longitudinella och en tvärsnittsstudie. Två av mina utvalda studier stödjer hypotesen att omega-3 skyddar mot demens hos friska äldre, två av studierna hittar inga bevis för att omega-3 skyddar mot demens. De två randomiserade kontrollerade försök som jag hittat undersöker inverkan av omega-3 på den kognitiva förmågan och det ena försöket hittar ingen generell effekt av omega-3 på den kognitiva förmågan och det andra försöket kommer fram till att omega-3 utövar positiva effekter på den kognitiva förmågan hos friska äldre. Inga näringsrekommendationer är möjliga att ge med hjälp av denna studie.

This thesis deals with an architectural case study of the urban block in the Svitava industrial zone bordered by the Svitava River in the east, Ring Road in the west, Milady Horákové Street in the north and Zvonařka Street in the south. Špitálka Smart City has been designed to be in this area. The thesis is modelled on the Špitálka Smart City urban study, that was the outcome of the pre-thesis seminar in the winter term 2020/21. The urban study objective was the urban renewal of the Brno teplárny (heating plant) area and its surroundings as well as a design of a new urban boulevard. The thesis focuses on a design of a selected urban block in the Smart City Špitálka. This mixed-use development provides commercial, administrative and residential functions. The block is divided into two parts; either part consists of three sections. Two underground storeys providing parking space and space for building services are intended for the whole block. The case study further develops only the section that is labeled Coworking offering six floors for coworking spaces. On the ground floor there are spaces for a café, commerce and also the main entry to the co-working offices. A sky-office and a venue for rent are located on the seventh floor. The venue can be used for a wide range of events from smaller conferences, through corporate meetings & teambuildings to private parties. Both the sky-office and the venue have access to the rooftop terrace. The design creates a modern office building concept in the former industrial zone.

This work attempts to focus on the human side of Skylab, America's first space station, from 1973 to 1974. The thesis begins by showing some context for Skylab, especially in light of the Cold War and the “space race” between the United States and the Soviet Union. The development of the station, as well as the astronaut selection process, are traced from the beginnings of NASA. The focus then shifts to changes in NASA from the Apollo missions to Skylab, as well as training, before highlighting the three missions to the station. The work then attempts to show the significance of Skylab by focusing on the myriad of lessons that can be learned from it and applied to future programs.

The relationship between the city and the individual has many facets, and this project is an exploration of one aspect of that relationship. What we do, and the way we do things, can be influenced by what we see and visually connect with as we move about the city.

This thesis thus explores the simple notion of having a view. A view being the gateway into understanding a city, and connecting to it. It is a means to reference oneâ s self to the city. The experience of a view takes on varied scales, and the fundamental initiative in this project has been the exploration of a private view out to a public vista.

As the companies of today are good at protecting themselves against external threats, but are having problems with internal threats, we focused on how information can be protected from ending up in the wrong hands. First and foremost to protect information from employees who might steal it and sell it to another company. Since the security investments needed are connected to the financial costs of implementing them we have tried to create a balance between the investments needed and the cost of implementing them. The different kinds of protection needed are first and foremost protection to make data less accessable, passwords and traceability. While it is hard for us to estimate the amount of money a company lose by the hour when the production stands still, we have not been able to use any of the excising models to calculate the profit of installing countermeasures. We have, however, been able to find a model that works excellent for the average company who is beginning to install computer security.


Då dagens företag är duktiga på att skydda sig mot hot utifrån, men har svårare med interna hot har vi försökt att inrikta oss på hur informationen skall skyddas från att komma i felaktiga händer. Då i första hand från att anställda skall stjäla den och sälja den vidare. Då omfattningen av skydd som skall installeras är kopplade till hur kostnaden för de åtgärder som krävs har vi försökt skapa en balansgång mellan de skydd som är aktuella och kostnaden för dessa. De skydd som är aktuella är framförallt olika skydd mot åtkomst av data, lösenordshantering och spårbarhet i systemet. Då det är svårt för oss att uppskatta hur mycket ett företag förlorar per timme som produktionen står still har vi inte kunnat nyttja någon av de färdiga modeller som finns för att räkna på förtjänsten med att installera säkerhetsåtgärder kontra att inte göra det. Dock har vi hittat en modell som fungerar utmärkt för genomsnittsföretaget som skall börja med datasäkerhet.

The results of the fourth part of the Rhodes University Skymap Program are presented. The observations cover the area of sky between right ascension 14h00m and 02h30m and declination -26⁰ and + 13⁰ at a frequency of 2.3 GHz. Contour maps of this region, with a resolution of 0.38⁰, are presented. Various methods of reducing the effect of the Galactic disc emission are analyzed. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of one of these methods in the production of a flat base level. The filamentary structure of the North Polar Spur is enhanced and results are obtained which support current theories of the origin of this object. The HII region surrounding Ophiuchi is examined in detail. A number of parameters are derived for the HII region. The spur associated with the HII region S54 is also examined. A listing of 1105 point sources appearing in the maps is presented. The limiting flux density of this listing is 0.5 Jy

Denna rapport beskriver ett examensarbete inom integrerad produktutveckling vid Högskolan i Skövde. Arbetet utfördes i samarbete med företaget The Best of Sweden AB där uppdraget var att utveckla ett fäste och skyltar för bakrutetorkare på personbilar. Utvecklingsprocessen för produkten började med en förstudie där bland annat kundbehov undersöktes. Under förstudien undersöktes även olika faktorer som kan komma att påverka produkten i dess användningsmiljö, exempelvis bilars aerodynamik och kraften i bakrutetorkarens motor. En fältstudie genomfördes på existerande torkararmar som fästets och skyltarnas mått grundas på. Resultatet från förstudien var en kravspecifikation som det slutliga konceptet ska kunna ställas mot. Olika strukturerade designmetoder användes under konceptgenerering samt konceptutvärdering som följdes upp av detaljutveckling. Förslag på material och tillverkningsmetod samt ett kostnadsförslag togs fram. Resultatet blev en fästanordning och skyltar för bakrutetorkaren på personbilar vilket gör det möjligt för användaren att montera personifierade skyltar i olika format. Fästanordningen består av ett fäste och en rem, där remmen spänns åt runt torkararmen och håller fästet på plats. Produktens symmetri medför att den kan placeras på torkararmar oavsett om torkararmen går vänster- eller högervarv.
This thesis discloses a bachelor degree project in Product Design Engineering at the University of Skövde. The project was performed in collaboration with a company called The Best of Sweden AB where the assignment was to develop a universal mount and signs for rear window wipers on cars. The development process started with a prestudy where customer needs where analyzed. Different factors which affect the product in the environment of use, such as the aerodynamics of cars and the force in the rear window wiper engine, were examined as well during the prestudy. A field study was carried out on existing rear window wipers which became the basis of the dimensions of the signs as well as the mount. The result of the pilot study ended in a list of requirements that the final concept was to be compared to. Different structured design methods was used during concept generation as well as concept evaluation which was followed by a development of the details of the final concept. A proposition of material selection and manufacturing method was determined as well as an estimation of manufacturing cost. The result was a fastening device and signs for rear window wipers on cars which makes it possible for the user to mount personalized signs if various different formats. The fastening device consists of a base mount and a strap, where the strap is tightened around the rear window wiper and keeps the base mount in place. The symmetry of the product enables it to be mounted to a rear window wiper that either rotates clockwise or counter-clockwise.
