Steel making processes are highly energy intensive and comprised of many complex unit operations. Iron ore and coal need preprocessing before feeding into a reactor, and molten metal from different reactors needs to be carefully drawn into a solid metal and then rolled into sheets. Each of these operations has a stake in the quality of steel produced, and needs constant monitoring and need continuous power supply for fabrication. If a power failure occurs the production will be stopped, time delay increases for finishing fabrication. In some cases we can loss consumer due to unsatisfactory. My Project focuses the detection of power failure and takes reflex action to solve the problem with help of modem communication using GSM. The power failure will be intimated to the Microcontroller it drive the GSM modem to send a text message to the concern person mobile number which was already programmed in Microcontroller and also monitoring the parameter are temperature, oil level, fuel level and when they exceed predefined limits an automatically intimated to authorized person and also This system can be designed to send SMS alerts whenever the Circuit Breaker (Relay) trips and simulation result done by using LabVIEW software.

Prevailing American conservative views regarding consumption and the environment have evolved in ways incongruous to a past intellectual legacy. As the world's most voracious consumer and greatest power, the United States possesses a vast global footprint; this historically unprecedented combination of appetite and might translates into both potential and peril. Given that the repercussions of dominant American perspectives are not just domestic, but global, it is imperative to reflect on American conservative ideology. This article begins with an examination of a past intellectual heritage, which extolled virtues such as conservation, prudence and stewardship. It then examines an array of contemporary conservatisms by laying out a typology of views. As a whole, the spectrum shows considerable ideological elasticity. Of much interest is an array of green outliers within the typology, for these nascent, diverse voices indicate potential synergy with mainstream environmental goals, although not without caveats. Finally, the future direction of conservative thought with respect to consumption and the environment is assessed.

This paper presents overviews about reliability and maintainability of equipment especially for job-shop manufacturing systems. The job shop industry has the characteristics of a more dynamic production than flow shop industries, where products with a variety of great but small amounts. Its dynamic condition certainly contributes directly to the failure rate and reliability growth of equipment. Therefore, proper maintenance should be done as the reliability improvement. Stages of reliability improvement are reliability modeling, reliability analysis and maintenance optimization. This stage is based on reliability growth of equipment that is indicated the deterioration process of failure components, it can be build from maintenance data history or condition data monitoring.. Cost is often considered in points of a maintenance schedule. This cost was affected by minimizing the negative effects of maintenance and maximizing the benefit of production. The attention at reliability and maintenance optimization is a well researches area until now. This paper presents a brief review of existing reliability and maintenance research. Several reliable methods in this area are discussed and maintenance on job-shop industry as future prospects is investigated. It is shown in this paper that some aspect in the area of maintenance on job-shop industry steel needs to be deeply developed.

Factory shop floor workers are exposed to threats and accidents due to their encounters with tools, equipment, and toxic materials. There are cases of occupational accidents resulting in injuries to workers and precipitating lawsuits, which on the other hand affect company’s operational cost. To ensure the safety of workers within the shop floor, there is a need for proactive activity monitoring. Such activities include detection of falling objects, abnormal vibration, and movement of humans within an acceptable area of the factory floor. Breathing sensor-based monitoring of workers in the smart factory shop floor can also be implemented. This is for the detection of human activity, especially in cases where workers are in isolation with no available emergency assistance. Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and machine learning (ML) have enabled so many possibilities in this area. In this study, we present a simple test-bed, which is made up of a vibration sensor, a breathing and movement sensor, and a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensor. These sensors were used to gather normal and abnormal data of human activities at the factory. We developed a dataset based on possible real-life situations and it is made up of about 10,000 data points. The data was split with a ratio of 75:25 for training and testing the model. We investigated the performance of different ML algorithms, including support vector machine (SVM), linear regression, naive Bayes (NB), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), and convolutional neural network (CNN). From our experiments, the CNN model outperformed other algorithms with an accuracy of 99.45%, 99.78%,100%, and 100%, respectively, for vibration, movement, breathing, and distance. We have also successfully developed a dataset to assist the research community in this field.

Although claims about climate/conflict links remain contested, concerns that climate change will affect peace and security have gained traction in academic, activist, and policy circles. One set of pressures for responsive action has centered on the UN Security Council, which has held several often-contentious debates on the topic. Whether the Council should address climate change is a highly politicized question, tied to controversies about the Council’s mandate, membership reform, and the appropriate division of labor in the UN system. Lost in this political debate has been a more fundamental question—what exactly could the Council do? We examine six specific proposals for Council action culled from the academic and policy literature and the public positions of member states. These include incorporating climate risks into peacekeeping operations, developing an early-warning system, managing the threat to small-island states, engaging in preventive diplomacy, addressing climate refugees, and embracing a climate-related analogy to the norm of a responsibility to protect. For each proposal, our analysis—which is based on interviews conducted at the UN, archival research, and case histories of past instances of adapting the Council’s focus to new challenges—examines what it would mean and require for the Council to act. We also identify a series of measures that constitute a “pragmatic transformative” agenda. These steps recognize the poor fit between the climate challenge and the Council as it is currently constituted, but also the potential to use climate as part of a larger transformation toward the better Council the world needs.

The job-shop scheduling is an important approach to manufacturing enterprises to improve response speed, reduce cost, and improve service. Proactive scheduling for job-shop based on abnormal event monitoring of workpieces and remaining useful life prediction of tools is proposed with radio frequency identification (RFID) and wireless accelerometer in this paper. Firstly, the perception environment of machining job is constructed, the mathematical model of job-shop scheduling is built, the framework of proactive scheduling is put forward, and the hybrid rescheduling strategy based on real-time events and predicted events is adopted. Then, the multi-objective, double-encoding, double-evolving, and double-decoding genetic algorithm (MD3GA) is used to reschedule. Finally, an actual prototype platform to machine job is built to verify the proposed scheduling method. It is shown that the proposed method solves the integration problem of dynamic scheduling and proactive scheduling of processing workpieces, reduces the waste of redundant time for the scheduling, and avoids the adverse impact on abnormal disturbances.

Previous applications of DEA (data envelopment analysis) models in the field of franchising have been scarce. In particular, measurement and analysis of the operational efficiency of coffee shop franchisors in the explosively growing coffee market in Korea is required. In this study, we categorize 29 Korean coffee shop franchisors into three groups according to their number of franchisees and employ the metafrontier analysis to measure the efficiency of coffee shop franchisors from 2015 to 2018. Based on the results of metafrontier DEA, this study identifies sources of inefficiency within individual coffee shop franchisors to provide insights for coffee franchise operators and investigates efficiency differences between small-chain and medium-chain coffee shop franchisors. Furthermore, the results of bootstrapped truncated regression provide that the external environmental factors affecting the efficiency of each individual group are totally different patterns depending on the franchise group. Based on the analysis results, this study suggests strategic initiatives tailored to individual coffee shop groups to enhance their operating efficiency and identifies the principal operational drivers of the environmental variables to achieve sustainable growth.

This study focused on sensory marketing that appeals to the five senses of coffee shop customers (“sight,” “smell,” “sound,” “taste,” and “touch”) to provide a sustainable growth model for the saturated coffee shop market. The study identified the relationships among coffee shops’ sensory marketing factors, the “PAD” emotions (pleasure, arousal, and dominance), flow, and behavioral intentions. It employed an online survey of coffee shop customers aged 20 years and older. A total of 608 surveys were used for the final analysis. The results showed that there are statistically meaningful relationships between “sight” and dominance, “sound” and arousal, “taste” and dominance, “taste” and arousal, “touch” and dominance, and “touch” and arousal. In addition, it was confirmed that there are significant relationships among the PAD emotions; pleasure also has positive effects on flow and behavioral intentions. Finally, this study found significant moderating effects of hedonic and utilitarian usage motivations on the hypothesized relationships. Based on our findings, several important academic and business implications are provided, which can contribute to the sustainability of coffee shops.

ABSTRACTDuring the second half of the 1970s, the practice of the closed shop became widespread in some parts of the British public sector, but was resisted in others. This paper examines the issue in relation to the National Health Service, where trade unionists made frequent demands for the closed shop and where many managers were apparently not unwilling to concede it. Yet very few closed shops actually resulted. The paper examines the origin and patterns of these demands, health authority policies towards them, and their outcomes in terms both of the operation of the closed shops which were agreed, and the reasons for failure to agree. The conclusion is that although NHS industrial relations had apparently matured very rapidly between 1973 and 1977, the trade unions were neither strong enough nor united enough to enforce the closed shop; nor were industrial relations so far developed as to make the practice a natural next step.

Restaurants have been using robots to meet the increasing consumer demand for food customization and safety and contactless service operations. This study identified the antecedent factors influencing a customer’s attitude and acceptance intention toward a robot barista. To this end, we conducted a questionnaire survey from 10 to 24 January 2020, on a sample of 317 Korean consumers who purchased coffee prepared by a robot barista. We based the analysis on the following determinant factors of the extension of the technology acceptance model (ETAM): perceived enjoyment, perceived usefulness, need for interaction, perceived risk, and perceived innovativeness. The results showed that perceived usefulness had the highest impact on acceptance intention, followed by perceived enjoyment and the need for interaction. Perceived usefulness and innovativeness positively influenced acceptance intention. These results confirmed the significance of the determinant factors in inducing customers’ attitude and acceptance intention toward a robot barista. This study extends the research on the application of artificial intelligence and the fourth industrial revolution technologies in the food service industry, and hence contributes toward the preparations for the post-Covid-19 period. It also offers practical implications for sustainable coffee shop management.

This paper discusses about graphic technology in computer games or gaming pc at internet stores with pay implications for adolescents. This paper will examine the existence of a paid internet store that has been offering fast broadband services accessible at the fingertips to surrounding communities. However, there are adolescents who misuse the services provided by accessing computer games with no restrictions, monitoring and escort. This paper will examine whether the adolescent driving factor that is still in school is willing to spend time, energy and invest money solely for enjoying the fun of computer games at a paid internet shop. In addition, paid internet shop dealers who offer dvd and vcd computer games with unlimited payment rates have attracted teenagers. Research on teenager’s attitude towards the influence of computer games. Examine how computer games affect youth health. Besides examining teenage obsessors on computer graphics technology to reality realms and teenage satisfaction exploring computer games at paid internet shops regardless of the surrounding community. Besides examining the negative implications of computer games on the quality of teenage education. Hence the lack of parent’s awareness of child supervision led to the spreading outbreak of school dropouts for being trapped by computer games during school days of fun with computer games at paid internet shops. This paper is obtained through field research such as observation, interviews and questionnaire with one hundred respondents involved in the study area. Nowadays, manufacturing industry is under increasing pressure to save energy and reduce emissions, and thereby enhancing the energy efficiency of the machining system (MS) through operational methods on the system-level has attracted more attention. Energy-efficient scheduling (ES) has proved to be a typical measure suitable for all shop types, and an energy-efficient mechanism that a machine can be switched off and back on if it waits for a new job for a relatively long period is another proven effective energy-saving measure. Furthermore, their combination has been fully investigated in a single machine, flow shop and job shop, and the improvement in energy efficiency is significant compared with only applying ES for MS. However, whether such two energy-saving measures can be integrated in a flexible job shop environment is a gap in the existing study. To address this, a scheduling method applying an energy-efficient mechanism is proposed for a flexible job shop environment and the corresponding mathematical model, namely the energy-efficient flexible job shop scheduling (EFJSS) model, considering total production energy consumption (EC) and makespan is formulated. Besides, transportation as well as its impact on EC is taken into account in this model for practical application. Furthermore, a solution approach based on the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) is adopted, which can avoid the interference of subjective factors and help select a suitable machine for each operation and undertake rational operation sequencing simultaneously. Moreover, experimental results confirm the validity of the improved energy-efficient scheduling approach in a flexible job shop environment and the effectiveness of the solution.

SUMMARYAn outbreak of Salmonella typhimurinm definitive type (DT) 193 affecting 206 persons occurred in July and August 1989 in a small town in northern England. A descriptive study suggested that cold meats including pork from a butcher's shop in the town were vehicles of infection. An analytical study of a cohort attending a function in the town showed a significant association between illness and consumption of cold roast pork supplied by the butcher's shop (P = 0·00000004). S. typhimurium DT 193 with the same antibiotic resistance pattern (to ampicillin, streptomycin, sulphonamides and tetracyclines) as the outbreak strain, and possessing a single plasmid of 80 MDa was isolated from samples of meat bought from the shop and implicated in illness, and from samples of pig faeces taken from the farm supplying the shop. It was concluded that inadequate processing of infected pork meat at the shop may have contributed to this outbreak but that cross contamination also played an important part in transmission. Control measures included a temporary closure of the shop and subsequent implementation of a detailed protocol for meat processing and monitoring of all procedures at the shop.

Korean duty-free shops sales rank first among duty-free shops around the world (Generation Research, 2018) and have become a target of interest for academics and industry observers. In particular, attention has been focused on variables affecting the shopping behavior of this fast-growing segment of online duty-free shop users. In this research, the main variables of the technology innovation acceptance model and the target-oriented behavior model are added. Focus is placed on the decomposed theory of planned behavior, and the variables affecting the behavioral intention are identified. A survey is conducted with users of online duty-free shops (Internet, mobile) as targets, and an analysis of the structural equation model is utilized. Among the technology innovation acceptance variables, the factors affecting attitude are compatibility and perceived usefulness. It is determined that only perceived behavioral control has a significant effect on behavioral intention, which is a dependent variable of the decomposed theory of planned behavior, and the attitude and subjective norms are found to have a significant effect on both desire and behavioral intention. Thus, it is confirmed that attitude is a key variable in explaining this research model. This research has academic implications because it examines variables affecting the behavioral intention of online duty-free shop users by integrating the theory of technology innovation acceptance and the decomposed theory of planned behavior, with the addition of a desire variable. Moreover, there are practical implications in that online duty-free shop operators have provided meaningful basic data to establish differentiated marketing strategies from offline duty-free shops with the goal of expanding use. The results of this study are expected to serve as basic data for increasing the behavioral intention of online duty-free shop users and promoting the sustainable development of online duty-free shops in South Korea.
