She was one of mother India’s most gifted children, readily sharing her burden of pain, fiercely articulating her agonies and hopes. The present paper “The Contemporary Scene and The Emergence of Sarojini Naidu”, provides an account of Sarojini’s social, political, and literary background, here love for India evident from her passionate involvement with the freedom struggle did, in no way, withhold her for being so enamored by the poetic muse. It is rather unfortunate that Sarojini Naidu has been criticized for writing about the colorful land of romance and mystery, the India of the common western imagination, with the essential reality-a of real experience, a real landscape, and the real people blurred into a mystified sentimentality.

Sarojini Naidu was an Indian political activist, feminist, and poet, a proponent of civil rights, women’s emancipation, and anti-imperialistic ideas. Despite all these qualities, she was known as “The Singer of Beautiful Songs” she will always be remembered and recalled by her two names: “The Nightingale of India” and” Bharat Kokila” as Mahatma Gandhi ornamented her. The present paper is a genuine effort to reveal her personality as a singer of beautiful songs; she emerged as the very soul of India and was attached firmly to its soil. Despite all her western garb and literary affiliation with the English poets, her sensibility was “wholly native.” Blessed with remarkable creative talent, she adroitly composed charming songs with a striking note of native fervour. In this task, she fell into the tradition of Indian women writers since the Vedic age. In the tradition of Vishwavara and Ghosha, the singers of sonorous songs in Vedas of Gargie, Maitreyi, and Sulabha, the unchangeable Upanishadic debaters of Sumana, Shyama, Sumangala, Sangh Mitra, and Rajyashri.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a conferência ministrada por Cecília Meireles sobre a poeta indiana Sarojini Naidu. A partir dos estudos sobre obra de Cecília Meireles em relação com a Índia, propõe-se que sua obra possibilita um deslocamento do pensamento brasileiro, centrado na tradição europeia, para estabelecer diálogo com um país que, assim como o Brasil, é marcado pela história colonial, o que pode contribuir para a reflexão sobre a própria realidade brasileira. Além disso, o estudo escrito por Cecília permite sugerir que os acontecimentos ocorridos na Índia no final da década de 1940, especialmente, em 1947, ano da independência, 1948, morte de Gandhi e 1949, morte de Sarojini, contribuíram para a construção do imaginário poético da autora durante o processo de pesquisa e de escrita do Romanceiro da Inconfidência. Por fim, pretendeu-se mostrar como a obra de Sarojini Naidu, a partir do vínculo com a estética tradicional hindu, rasa, foi essencialmente política e importante para seu momento histórico na luta pela independência da Índia.

Sarojini Naidu is a writer of lyrics which have beauty and charm, delicate fancy and gossamer imagination, emotional fervour and sensuo-usness. Her poems reveal her sex. Talking of them, Arthur Symons wrote, "It is for this bird-like quality of song that they are to be valued". More than one third of bulk of her poetry is devoted to a lyrical presentation of the bliss of love and pathos of separation. Some of her typical love-lyrics are Ecstasy, Song of Radha, The Milk Maid, A Persian Love-Song, In a Time of Flowers, Humayun to Zobeida, Devotion etc. In the poem Alabaster she gives us a clear description of her heart:
Like this alabaster box whose art is frail as a cassia-flower, is my heart, carven with delicate dreams and wrought with many a subtle and exquisite thought. Therein I treasure the spice and scent of rich and passionate memories blent like odours of cinnamon, sandal and clove, of song and sorrow and life and love,

Sarojini Naidu (1879–1949), the English-language Indian poetess and politician, appears before the viewer in the frontispieces to her first two collections of poetry, The Golden Threshold (1905) and The Bird of Time: Songs of Life, Death and the Spring (1912). She presents herself in print, as in her oratory, as both a figure of nineteenth-century verse culture and a cosmopolitan nationalist. The Golden Threshold includes a now well-known introduction by Arthur Symons and a sketch of a young Naidu by J. B. Yeats (father of W. B. Yeats). [See Figure 1.] Arrayed in a voluminous and ruffled white dress, distinctly “Western” in style, with hands clasped together, Naidu's youthful yet grave face stares directly at the viewer. She appears here as a precocious, prepubescent Victorian poetess captured within a private setting. Yet when this volume was published in 1905, the picture, drawn during Naidu's sojourn in England in the mid-1890s when much of the poetry included in the collection was composed, must have been almost a decade old. The only sign of racial difference in the sketch is her lightly shaded skin and dark hair. The blurred sketch echoes Naidu's own ambiguous position at this time: she is neither wholly Indian nor wholly English, and she navigates uneasily between the roles of naïve student of poetry and accomplished poetess.

Sarojini Naidu is the most lyrical of the Indian English poet. Because of the sweetness and musicality of hor verse, she was fondly called by Mahatma Gandhi “the nightingale of India.” In the early phase of her poetic corear, she was anamored by British romantic poets and imitated them in her poetry. But on the advice of Edmund Morris, she tried to reveal the heart of India romantically, lyrically and sensuously. Consequently, she published three volumes of the poem: “The Golden Threshold” [1905]. ‘The Bird of Time’ [1912] and ‘The Broken Wing’ [1917]. These volumes were highly praised by the western literary magzines like ‘The Time’, ‘The Glasgow Horald’, ‘The New York Times’.

Colour represents various moods of life. It is powerful means to communicate human feelings. Wide varied colours diversify each moment of our life. The sense of colour is as extended as the sense of LIFE. The folklore of a culture includes the stories, songs, and poems that people pass along from generation to generation. The word folklore meant “the Lore of the People.” It included all rituals, customs, traditions, and beliefs of unknown origin that expressed the concerns of the life ordinary people. Poetic imagery is a technique that is used to express feeling. In the visual, literary, and performing arts ‘Expressionism’ is a movement or tendency that strives to express subjective feelings and emotions rather than to depict reality or nature objectively. Sarojini Naidu was among the pioneer women poet, who was fascinated by the amazing diversity of Indian life, culture and tradition. Naidu. (1879 – 1949), was an Indian independence activist and poet. She was the second Indian woman to become the President of the Indian National Congress and was honored as ‘The Nightingale of India’ (Bharatiya Kokila). Being one of the most famous heroines of the 20th century, her birthday is celebrated as “National Women's Day”. Naidu voiced the dreams and aspirations of the making of the nation. She wrote mainly on the rural i.e. the folk aspects of Indian culture and women's experiences.

She is popularly known as the "Nightingale of India" and has been given this title for many years. She was the first lady to hold the position of President of India in our country, she was a notable person in Indian women's history, and she was the first Governor of Uttar Pradesh after the state of Uttar Pradesh gained its independence. She was one of the most well-known figures of the 20th century, and her presence on our planet as a powerful figure is celebrated annually on the holiday that is known as "Women's Day." The significant achievement that has been set in the field of poetry is the topic that will be discussed in this paper. Her sense of poetry is centered on an extraordinary bank of words that are so culturally specific that they can be sung with genuine feelings. In the year 1905, she had the poem "Bull Bule Hind" published; this was the beginning of her exploration into the literary realm. The Pardah Nashin, The Village Song, Lotus, and The Bird of Time are the primary focal the points of this paper's analysis.

Abstract: Indian English Literature has its roots in the works of the 19th century writers such as Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Rabindranath Tagore, and Sarojini Naidu. In this paper we have reflected mental harassment or emotional abuse through the literary work of famous writer Shashi Deshpande. Her novel “ That Long Silence “ is about a character “Jaya” whose journey of self discovery is a difficult one. She is the victim of the patriarchal society that has denied her the freedom to pursue her dreams. The novel highlights the struggle of women in India. It shows how women are expected to conform to the norms of society and how they are often denied basic rights to make decisions about their own lives. Deshpande encourages women to take charge of their own lives and to be independent and self-reliant.

This is only a world from which everyone wants to get rid of it.The theoretical Frame Work of these poems is Existentialism by Jean-Paul Sartre. It is a theory that forces every person to get liberated through their own willingness. Existentialism is a faith and trust in which every person is responsible for determining his own purpose, not God. The findings of the study are uncertainty and distress in both old and young adults. Artykuł rozpoczyna się namysłem nad kontrastującymi sprawozdaniami z „przybycia” dwóch karaibskich pisarzy: Uny Marson i C.L.R. Jamesa, którzy dotarli do Londynu w 1932 roku. Następnie zostaje zdefiniowany obszar interesującego autorkę artykułu pisarstwa, obejmującego postaci takie jak Jean Rhys, Sarojini Naidu, Katherine Mansfield i Olive Schreiner, jak również sposoby uczestnictwa ich prac w narracjach obronnych dotyczących zarówno genderu, jak i imperium. Introduction Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a reliable diagnostic tool used to diagnose breast lesions preoperatively. However, FNAC is also associated with diagnostic pitfalls. Further studies are needed to improve its diagnostic efficacy. We noticed ovoid, bare nuclei arranged in closely touching diads (benign pairs) in a significant number of cytology smears. This prompted us to assess their diagnostic utility. Materials and Methods This was a prospective study conducted in Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, India. Quantitative estimation of benign pairs per 1000 ductal cells in at least 20 high power field was attempted in cytology smears of 128 cases. Results The average number of pairs in benign and malignant lesions was calculated as 7.07 ∓ 5.96 and 0.28 ∓ 0.78, respectively. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the number of pairs in benign and malignant cases ( P < 0.0005). Conclusions Quantitative estimation of benign pairs is helpful in distinguishing benign from malignant cases.

Indian women have played an impactful role in this journey from being part of the non-cooperation movement to practising saytagraha and promoting Khadi and picketing up of liquor shops. Women like Usha Mehta, Rajkumari Gupta, Aruna Asaf Ali, Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, Rani Gaidinliu, Amal Prabha Das, Azizam Bai, Gulan Kaur, Sarojini Naidu has played paramount role in making India free from British rules. Their participation in all the freedom struggle is significant and respectful.

ABSTRACT Indian travelers in Victorian London began engaging with questions of nationhood, modernity, family, home, and gender roles within the ambit of reproducing the city’s imperial geography on increasingly gendered and sexist lines. The rise of Indian feminists like Sarojini Naidu, Cornelia Sorabji, Rukhmabai, and Princess Sophia notwithstanding, Indian men redrew London’s patriarchal contours. Drawing on a legacy of accounts by nineteenth-century Indian men, like T. N. Mukharji, Behramji Malabari, M. K. Gandhi, Lala Baijnath, T. B. Pandian, and G. P. Pillai, this article examines the maps of the geography of Victorian womanhood that they sought to reproduce. I argue that—while colonial travelers helped India derive administrative, bureaucratic, and architectural models—the geopolitical roots of postcolonial Indian patriarchy date back to ways in which an emotionally vulnerable Indian male gaze perceived Victorian Englishwomen. There is much to be troubled by the gendered relations that made imperial London and had an ominous afterlife in India, normalizing patriarchal expectations and codes of womanhood—a social malignancy whose etiology stems from structures of India’s colonial conflicts.

Perempuan dianggap memiliki hubungan spesial dengan alam. Hubungan spesial tersebut dapat dilihat dalam kata “Ibu Pertiwi”. Kedekatan tersebut dapat dianggap sebagai sebuah anugerah sekaligus bentuk stereotip. Tulisan ini menganalisis dua puisi <em>Post Scriptum </em>karya Toety Heraty dan <em>The Snake Charmer</em> karya Sarojini Naidu. Melalui dua karya tersebut, penelitian ini melihat cara perempuan direpresentasi melalui simbolisasi alam sehingga dapat menjawab apakah kedekatan perempuan dan alam merupakan konstruksi sosial ataukah bentuk yang sebenarnya. Tulisan ini menemukan bahwa hubungan perempuan dan alam dalam puisi <em>Post Scriptum</em> merupakan hal yang tidak patut untuk dirayakan. The outline of almost all urban contours are characterized by accelerated urbanization, depleted assets, population growth, ageing infrastructure, and degraded environments, which are made worse by rising climate uncertainty. The projections show that by 2040, approximately half of the world population will reside in areas with significant water stress. The immense pressure on land due to expansion of urbanized area has led to a significant increase in impervious/paved surfaces, reducing the rate of infiltration. In urban areas, however, this cycle is discontinuous in context to impermeable pavements, surface water do not get time to percolate instead they drain off to sewer. This misleading of storm water leads to flooding, and other water issues. The goal is to find techniques that can feasibly integrate the hydrological cycle with impactful water-sensitive spatial design considerations. This paper presents a detailed analysis of Women’s Polytechnic and Sarojini Naidu Hall at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, India based on storm water management and water sensitive parameters that can be implemented in the whole campus by using both qualitative as well as quantitative research methods in relation with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

The rise and fall of Hindu Community in India is a historical phenomenon. There are various personalities who dedicated themselves to the renaissance of them, regardless of victory or defeat in their efforts. Though the Hindu community seemed to advance in a number of fields in Tamil Nadu especially during the 19th and 20th centuries despite various forms of oppression and destruction. Under- age marriage was among many other factors that resulted in the backwardness of the society. In such a backdrop, the role played by a number of female personalities was immensely commendable for the reawakening activities. R.S. Subbalakshmi, Dr. Muthulatchumi Rettiyar, Sarojini Naidu, etc are a few to be added to the list of the reformers who tirelessly put all their efforts for the reawakening of Tamil women. Most notably, R.S. Subbalakshmi successfully carried out her mission towards the educational renaissance of widows. Her service has to be specially noted for her careful forward without getting caught into the clutches of the British rulers, instead obtaining their cooperation and support. She carried out her educational activities adopting the modern educational reforms of the British, while preserving the national heritage of India. The Institutions such as Saratha Ashram, Sri Saratha United Women Society, Sri Saratha Vidyalayam, which played a major role in the educational renaissance of the South Indian women, were established by her. She had to encounter untold hardships to operate those Institutions which brought a turning point in a number of educated women. Since she undertook her activities irrespective of societal differences, the rulers, philanthropists and well wishers offered their fullest support and assistance. Her activities were pioneer for the creation of other social organizations and Institutions. She is to be regarded as a forward thinker who always thought of the well being of not only the women of Tamil Nadu but of the whole South India.

Collaboration is often understood as central to modernist literary production. The recent turn to a transnational or globalised understanding of modernism has made attention to collaborations across races and cultures all the more pressing. This article attends to the colonial politics of collaboration by exploring a specific instance of a particular genre: the introductions written by white, male, metropolitan modernists to texts by colonial authors. Focusing initially on introductions by Ford Madox Ford, Arthur Symons, Edmund Gosse and W. B. Yeats to texts by Jean Rhys, Sarojini Naidu and Rabindranath Tagore, the article then looks in detail at the prefaces written by E. M. Forster and Leonard Woolf to writing by Mulk Raj Anand ( Untouchable, 1935 and Letters on India, 1942). By putting pressure on the term ‘collaboration’ itself – and the frequent slippage to ‘collaborationist’ in relation to scholarship on Anand – this article will investigate the oft-overlooked genre of the introduction to ask questions crucial to the wider study of global modernisms. It will tease out the complex relationships, networks and publishing histories signalled by this conjunction of introduction and text. These prefatory texts are marked by imperial gestures of cultural patronage, framing and mediation but are also the very place where these gestures and hierarchies are contested and overturned.

Indian English literature began as an interesting by-product of an eventful encounter in the late eighteenth century between a vigorous and enterprising Britain and a stagnant and chaotic India. As a result of this encounter as F.W. Bain puts it ‘India a withered trunk… suddenly shot out with foreign foliage’. The first problem that confronts the historian of Indian English literature is to define its nature. The question has been made rather complicated owing to two factors: first this body of writing has, from time to time, been designated variously as ‘Indo-Anglian literature’, ‘Indian Writing in English’ and ‘Indo-English literature’. Secondly the failure to make clear-cut distinctions has also often led to confusion between categories such as ‘Anglo-Indian literature’, literature in the Indian languages translated into English and original composition in English by Indians. Thus, in his A Sketch of Anglo-Indian Literature (1908), E.F. Oaten considers the poetry of Henry Derizio as a part of ‘Anglo-Indian literature’ the same critic in his essay on Anglo-Indian literature in the Cambridge of English Literature includes Toru Dutt, Sarojini Naidu, Rabindranath Tagore and Arvindo Ghose among ‘Anglo-Indian writers along with F.W. Bain and F.A. Steel.

Background: An appendectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix. Appendectomy may be performed laparoscopically or as an open operation. Laparoscopy is now often used as patient resumed normal activity within a shorter period than had been experienced with open appendectomy. Patients had a superior cosmetic result and experienced significantly less postoperative discomfort. In this study, we attempted to determine the predictors for difficult appendectomy using history and clinical examinations, preoperative laboratory data, ultrasonography findings and intraoperative finding.Methods: The study was conducted in Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra. All patients who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy from 1st January 2016 to 30th June 2017 were included in the study. A detailed performa was developed to record information regarding patient history, physical examination, laboratory parameters, ultrasonography (USG) findings and intra-operative details. Laparoscopic appendectomy done in more than 120 minutes, converted into open due to difficulty in surgery and not due to complications, severe adhesions were considered to be a case of difficult appendectomy.Results: We found that the difficult laparoscopic appendectomy can be predicted preoperatively based on age >60 years, history of previous lower abdominal surgery, time of onset to surgery >24 hours, acute appendicitis and peri appendicular collection.Conclusions: There are very few reports to determine the predictors of difficult appendectomy and more research is required to establish it.

Background: Hysterectomy is one of the most performed surgical procedures during lifetime. Almost 10% of women who have had a hysterectomy because of prolapse symptoms. Sacrocolpopexy (sacral colpopexy) is a surgical technique to repair pelvic organ prolapses. Specifically, it is intended to address apical or vaginal vault prolapse in women with lower perioperative morbidity, shorter hospital stay and allows a long-term anatomical restoration. It provides excellent apical support with lower rate of recurrence. Aim of present study was to assess the efficiency of conventional method of sacrocolpopexy and to assess the follow up complaints of patients.Methods: This study is conducted in maternal and child health wing of Sarojini Naidu medical college from June 2019 till December 2019. Sacrospinous fixation was performed with conventional needle holder as compared to Miya hook. Data were collected from participants using a structured questionnaire. Follow up was conducted at 6 weeks and 12 weeks.Results: In this study there were 43.3% pre menopausal patients and 53.6% menopausal patients. Maximum patients were multiparous i.e. para 2 (36.6%). Maximum patient belongs to POP Q stage 3. After 6 weeks of surgery maximum patients had pain in abdomen i.e. 3.33%, dyspareunia 8.33% and 100% success rate of sacropexy.Conclusions: Sacrocolpopexy is a cost effective and safe procedure with high anatomical cure and patient satisfaction rate and low intra-operative and. postoperative complications as well as recurrence rates.

Background: Liver abscess is common clinical condition encountered in outpatient and emergency setting however; rupture of it can lead to higher morbidity and mortality of patients. Despite different and easily accessible modalities are available to diagnose the condition early, still ruptured liver abscess presents with a common cause of acute abdomen in surgical emergency.Methods: This was a retrospective study carried in Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, between 2019 and 2021. All patients with ruptured liver abscess (ultrasound diagnosed) were included in this study, and those patients having other causes of peritonitis were excluded.Results: Out of the fourty patients assessed, all patients were male (100%). The most affected age group was 31-40 years (50%) followed by 41-50 years (30%). Right hypochondrium pain was the most common presenting complaint. 80% have history of chronic alcohol intake. Twenty patients (50%) had presented with signs of toxemia. Only right lobe of the liver was affected the most in 28 patients (70%). Escherichia coli was the most common organism isolated in our study in 21patients (52.5%). A total of 16 patients (40%) had diabetes in our study and total of 7 (17.5%) patients had mortality in our study.Conclusions: Ruptured liver abscess can be diagnosed in emergency setting and is preventable if early intervention is done. It carries high morbidity and mortality so early diagnosis and prompt treatment can reduce the risk of it.

Background: Cholelithiasis (gall stone disease) is a well-known disease worldwide. Ultrasonography is the most common screening test for cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy is considered the treatment of choice for symptomatic gall stone disease. It is important to know the different clinical, radiological parameter and specific predictor that give some prediction of difficult LC. The aim of this study was to predict the difficulty of LC and the possibility of conversion to OC before surgery using the clinical and ultrasonographic criteria in our set up.Methods: The present study was carried out in the Department of surgery, Sarojini Naidu Medical College Agra, from November 2014 to October 2016. A total of 210 patients were enrolled for the laparoscopic cholecystectomy. All patients who were included in the study were undergone detailed history and clinical examination. A number of clinical and ultrasonographical parameters were noted.Results: Amongst the 210 patients admitted for laparoscopic cholecystectomy, 21 (10%) were male and 189 (90%) female, with age ranging from 12–60 years. The conversion rate in our study was 4.5% (9 of 210). In our study significant pre-operative factors which increased the conversion rate to open cholecystectomy includes male gender, obesity, abdominal scar of previous surgery, contracted and thickened gall bladder and patients having stone impacted at the neck of gall bladder.Conclusions: From this study, we conclude that preoperative ultrasonography is a good predictor of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the majority of cases and should be used as a screening procedure.

Background: TB is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. The risk of TB is high among populations living in poverty, low socioeconomic groups, low income, immune-suppressed (including AIDS), and extreme age (old age and children) groups, etc. Methods: The study was conducted in TB and chest department of Sarojini Naidu medical college Agra city. The total number of patients registered during the period of July to September 2017 was 518; out of these 288 were new pulmonary and extrapulmonary patients. Out of 288 subjects, 123 were pulmonary patients. All the 123 new pulmonary tuberculosis patients (both smear +ve and smear -ve) were included in the study. 18 patients were loss to follow up after registration thus final effective sample size was 105 for further follow-up study. Results: Overwhelming (84.76%) patients belonged to a lower socioeconomic class. The maximum number (85.33%) of the study subjects among upper lower socioeconomic status had no knowledge regarding causative microbes of the disease (p=0.001). Conclusions: The majority of patients belong to illiterate, lower socioeconomic group, married and other than general cast, living in a joint, overcrowded family with more than four family members. About half of the subjects not knowing the method of prevention & consequence of treatment interruption. Most of them felt that quality of life affected after disease and about 1/4th of them felt hurtful behaviour of family members.

Background: Mutation of p53 gene is one of the most common events in oral carcinogenesis. Accumulation of p53 protein has also been detected in premalignant lesions.Materials and Methods: This study included 40 biopsy samples, which were received in department of pathology, Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, to ascertain p53 expression by immunohistochemically, in patients with oral squamous cell carcinomas and to correlate its expression with histological grade, different sites in oral cavity and tobacco intake/smoking habits.Results: Out of 40 biopsies of oral mucosa, 03 showed normal oral mucosa and 37 were diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), most patients were in 5th and 6th decade and majority (86.5%) of oral SCC were males with buccal mucosa being the most common site. There was a statistically significant difference in p53 expression between oral SCC and normal oral mucosa (p value <0.05). Of total 37 cases, 12 cases were well differentiated type, 16 moderately differentiated and 09 of poorly differentiated type of SCC. In each category, about two thirds were positive for p53 staining. Out of total 37 cases of oral SCC, 64.9% were positive and 35.1% were negative for p53 expression, 34 cases had positive history of tobacco intake/smoking habits, of which 23 cases were positive while 11 cases were negative for p53 staining.Conclusion: Abnormal p53 protein was detected in 64.9% of oral squamous cell carcinoma, but not in normal oral mucosa. p53 expression was associated with malignant transformation of oral mucosa.

Background: Objective of the study was to determine the obstetrical outcome assessed as successful vaginal delivery by using ultrasonographically measured fetal head to perineal distance. Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study on 180 antenatal women fulfilling inclusion and exclusion criteria at department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra. Trans-perineal ultrasonography for measurement of fetal head to perineum distance was done. After the scan, vaginal examination was done under all aseptic precautions to assess the various components of Bishop score (cervical position, cervical length, consistency, dilatation, station). Induction of labour was given after reaffirming that there was no contraindication for induction of labour. Monitoring of labour was done according to World Health Organization (WHO) modified partograph and cardiotocograph. Outcome of induction was considered successful if it resulted in vaginal delivery. Sensitivity and specificity of Bishop score, cervical length and foetal head to perineal distance was calculated and compared. Results: It was observed that predictability of fetal head to perineum distance measured using trans-perineal ultrasound was higher in all aspects compared to Bishop’s score and cervical length. Conclusions: The foetal head-perineum distance measured by trans-perineal ultrasound is an easy, definitive and non-invasive method for prediction of successful induction of labour and can be used as an adjunct tool to add more information to per vaginal examination findings. Based on imaging findings, patients can be counselled before induction of labour regarding the probability of successful induction.

Education was essential to the success of the independence movement in India because it acted as a driving force behind social transformation and a wellspring of individual agency. Education, at its foundation, produced a feeling of national awareness and togetherness among a variety of groups, overcoming boundaries of geographical distinction and language barrier. Education's ability to cultivate moral and ethical values, which were essential for a successful struggle for independence, was recognised by visionaries such as Mahatma Gandhi, who recognised the power of education in mobilising the masses. Gandhi emphasised the role that education played in cultivating these values. Universities and other more traditional educational institutions, such schools and schools, have evolved into hubs of intellectual conversation and political action. They made it possible for influential people like Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose to communicate their aspirations for a free India and rally popular support by providing forums on which they could do so. Education also educated citizens with critical thinking abilities, which enabled them to challenge oppressive colonial laws and argue for their rights. Education also enabled individuals to advocate for their rights. Women, who had been marginalised for a long time, were given the power via education to participate in the independence struggle in important ways. Leaders such as Sarojini Naidu and Annie Besant were not only educated in their own right, but they also advocated for the education of women and encouraged other women to play an active part in the fight for independence.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Mucormycosis is a fatal fungal infection, which is rare but commonly affects immunocompromised patients. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients who were immunocompromised, due to comorbid conditions, such as hematological malignancy and diabetes mellitus (DM), and patients on immunosuppressive therapy such as steroid therapy were the important host for mucormycosis infection. Aim: This study aimed to study the clinicopathological correlation of mucormycosis in post-COVID-19 patients. Material and Methods: The study was a retrospective study conducted in the Department of Pathology, Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, over four months from April 2021 to July 2021, and clinically diagnosed mucormycosis cases were included in this study. Clinical details, histology slides, and blocks were reviewed, and the data were analyzed. Three- to four-micrometer sections were taken from the blocks and stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and two more slides were made for each case for periodic acid–Schiff (PAS) and Grocott methenamine silver (GMS) staining. Result: In this study, the maximum cases were above the fifth decade of life. Males were more commonly affected than females with a male-to-female ratio of 2.09:1. Of the total of 65 cases, 46 (70.77%) cases were positive for mucormycosis and 19 (29.23%) cases were negative on histopathological examination and special stain PAS and GMS. A significant correlation was found between mucormycosis-positive cases on steroid therapy and oxygen supply during the treatment for COVID-19 with P- values of 0.001 and 0.027, respectively. Conclusion: For COVID-19 patients with altered glycemic control, receiving steroid therapy and oxygen supply poses a significant threat to the development of mucormycosis.

They fought with true spirit and undaunted courage and faced various tortures, exploitations and hardships to earn us freedom. When most of the men freedom fighters were in prison the women came forward and took charge of the struggle. The list of great women whose names have gone down in history for their dedication and undying devotion to the service of India is a long one. Woman's participation in India's freedom struggle began as early as in1817. Bhima Bai Holkar fought bravely against the British colonel Malcolm and defeated him in guerilla warfare. Many women including Rani Channama of Kittur, Rani Begum Hazrat Mahal of Avadh fought against British East India company in the 19th century; 30 years before the “First War of Independence 1857” The role played by women in the War of Independence (the Great Revolt) of 1857 was creditable and invited the admiration even leaders of the Revolt. Rani of Ramgarh, Rani Jindan Kaur, Rani Tace Bai, Baiza Bai, Chauhan Rani, Tapasvini Maharani daringly led their troops into the battlefield. Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi whose heroism and superb leadership laid an outstanding example of real patriotism .Indian women who joined the national movement belonged to educated and liberal families, as well as those from the rural areas and from all walk of life, all castes, religions and communities. Sarojini Naidu, Kasturba Gandhi, Vijayalakmi Pundit and Annie Besant in the 20th century are the names which are remembered even today for their singular contribution both in battlefield and in political field.

Background: Dengue is the most widespread mosquito-borne viral infection, found in tropical and subtropical climates worldwide. The World Health Organization has included dengue as one of the 10 threats to global health in 2019 with rapidly evolving epidemiology. Aims and Objectives: Given the limitation of data in regard to dengue burden, we have planned the present study with the objectives to provide a comprehensive overview of the seroprevalence, clinicoepidemiological profile, and serotype of dengue virus in Agra region of Uttar Pradesh. Materials and Methods: We conducted an observational study at viral diagnostic and research laboratory, Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, from August to December 2021. Our study included all blood specimens received at virology laboratory from clinically suspected cases of dengue infection. For the identification of serotype, NS1-positive samples were sent to King Georges Medical University, Lucknow. For clinical-epidemiological profile of dengue positive patients, data were obtained from records of 203 patients from our hospital. Results: We received total of 5457 serum samples from suspected patients for dengue serology during the study period. In total, positivity rate was 27.29% (1489/5457) and peak of cases was reported in month of October. Median age of dengue positive cases was 17 years. Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHS) was diagnosed in almost 41% of patients of 203 patients admitted in our hospital. DEN-2 was reported to be most common serotype (97.1%). In our analsyis, we found that in most patients fall in platelets levels below 50,000 happened during the 5th and 6th day in Dengue fever. Conclusion: We conclude that our study showed higher seroprevalence of dengue in Agra region with the age group of 0–20 years being infected most. DEN-2 was most prevalent circulating strain, which leads to more severe dengue infection.

ABSTRACT To study the significance of persistent inflammatory cervical Papanicolaou smears, in sexually active women of reproductive age group attending the out patient department of department of obstetrics and gynecology, Sarojini Naidu Medical College and Hospitals, Agra were recruited. Patients with persistent inflammatory cervical smears were subjected to Schiller directed cervical biopsy for histopathological examination. Persistent inflammatory changes were seen in 37.6% cervical smears. Underlying cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) on histopathologic examination was found in 13.6% persisters. Prevalence of CIN was higher in women over 30 years and significantly so in women with parity higher than 2. It was further observed that severity of underlying CIN lesions increased with increasing duration of marital life. Objective To study the significance of persistent inflammatory cervical smears in sexually active women of reproductive age. Study design A prospective tertiary teaching hospital based study on 3000 sexually active women aged between 18 to 45 years attending the OPD from October 2006 to December 2008. Material and methods Sexually active women aged between 18 to 45 years with inflammatory smears attending the OPD of the department of obstetrics and gynecology, SN Medical College and Hospital were recruited for the study. Repeat cervical smears were taken after 3 months of systemic antimicrobials plus local antiseptics. Patients with persistent inflammatory cervical smears were subjected to Schiller directed cervical biopsy for histopathological examination. Relationship of age, parity, duration of marital life, different contraceptive practices and other high-risk factors were studied vis-ì-vis histopathological findings of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Results Persistent inflammatory changes were noted in 37.6% cervical smears. Underlying cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) on histopathalogic examination was seen in 13.6% persisters. Prevalence of CIN was higher in women over 30 years, and over para 3 uninfluenced by the presence of cervical lesion. Severity of underlying CIN lesions increased with increasing duration of marital life. Conclusion Women with persistent inflammatory cervical smears, especially if she is above 30 years, sexually active for 10 years and is third para, should have further evaluation with cervical biopsy.

ObjectivesTo evaluate pharmacokinetics of first-line antitubercular drugs, isoniazid (INH) and pyrazinamide (PZA), with revised WHO dosages and to assess its adequacy in relation to age and nutritional status.DesignObservational study.SettingThis study was conducted at Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, and National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai.Patients40 subjects diagnosed with tuberculosis were registered in the study and started on daily first-line antitubercular regimen based on the revised WHO guidelines.InterventionsBlood samples were collected at 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours from these subjects after 15 days of treatment for drug estimations.Main outcome measureThe measurement of drug concentrations (maximum peak concentration (Cmax) and area under the time –concentration curve (AUC0–8 hours)) for INH and PZA. Appropriate statistical methods were used to evaluate the impact of age and nutritional status on pharmacokinetic variables.ResultsFor INH, the difference in drug exposures in children <3 years (Cmax 3.18 µg/mL and AUC0–8 hours15.76 µg/mL hour) and children >3 years (Cmax3.05 µg/mL and AUC0–8 hours 14.37 µg/mL hour) was not significant (P=0.94, P=0.81, respectively). The drug levels in children with low body mass index (BMI) (Cmax3.08 µg/mL; AUC0–8 hours14.81 µg/mL hour) were also comparable with their normal counterparts (Cmax3.09 µg/mL, P=0.99; AUC0–8 hours 14.69 µg/mL hour, P=0.82). PZA drug exposures obtained in children less than 3 years (Cmax29.22 µg/mL, AUC0–8 hours 155.45 µg/mL hour) were significantly lower compared with drug levels in children above 3 years (Cmax 37.12 µg/mL, P=0.03; AUC 202.63 µg/mL hour, P value=0.01). Children with low BMI had significantly lower drug concentrations (Cmax 31.90 µg/mL, AUC0–8 hours167.64 µg/mL hour) when compared with normal counterparts (Cmax 37.60 µg/mL, P=0.02; AUC0–8 hours 208.77 µg/mL hour, P=0.01).ConclusionsThe revised WHO drug dosages were found to be adequate for INH with respect to age and nutritional status, whereas PZA showed significantly lower drug levels in children <3 years and in malnourished children.

Background: Tuberculosis has remained a disease of public health importance since ages and is known to inflict large quantum of socioeconomic cost on the society. Risk of TB is high among population living in poverty, low socioeconomic groups, low income, immune-suppressed, and extreme age groups, certain ethnicity, migrants, and those exposed to animals.1,2Factors that delay diagnosis similarly increase the length of exposure to an infectious TB patient. Malnutrition increases the susceptibility to disease3,4. Aims and Objectives: In our study we identified the sociodemographic factor, knowledge and perception of the subjects about the disease that will cause the unfavourable treatment outcome. Material and Methods:The study was cross sectional study and conducted at designated microscopic centre of Sarojni Naidu medical college Agra.Total number of patients registered during the period of July to September 2017 were taken. Two follow up were done during the course of treatment. Result: The overall success rate (cure plus completed) in our study was 80.0%. The subjects who had no knowledge regarding curability have more unfavourable treatment outcome (43.7%) as compare to those subjects who had knowledge of curability (15.73%) (p value=0 .009). Conclusion: Symptomatic relief by medicine, side effect and forgetfulness of medicine directly affected the treatment outcome.

Colour Doppler helps to identify at risk pregnancies and fetal growth restriction along with stage based protocol for the management of Fetal Growth Restriction.2. To compare the sensitivity and speci Objective: city of doppler indices of MCA , umbilical artery and uterine artery in prediction of adverse perinatal outcome. St Material And Method: udy was conducted from October 2020 to September 2022 in the department of Radiodiagnosis of Sarojini Naidu medical college, Agra .The study included 90 clinically suspected antenatal women with period of gestational age between 29-40 weeks who were referred from Antenatal OPD of Obstetrics and Gynecology to Department of Radiodiagnosis in Sarojini Naidu Medical College , Agra . All the cases in the study were followed up from rst visit upto the time of delivery and further. Conclusion: Women with abnormal Doppler ndings had increased adverse perinatal outcomes in terms of morbidity ( low birth weight , NICU admissions , perinatal death ) with umbilical artery Doppler study being most sensitive and MCA being most specic in predicting adverse perinatal outcome .
