O trabalho discute a articulação ambivalente ent re a legr ia e t r i steza, característica de algumas vertentes da poética do samba e apontada em discursos críticos e jornalísticos sobre o gênero. Bastante comum nos sambas das décadas de 1930 e 1940, a conjunção entre chorar e cantar, sofrer e sambar manifesta-se nas letras, mas também na estrutura integral das obras, incluindo música e performance. Uma letra queixosa pode unir-se a uma melodia animada, incluindo sugestões variadas e mesmo contrastivas que vêm da interpretação vocal e do acompanhamento instrumental. Para pesquisar esses procedimentos e efeitos no corpo das obras, o trabalho elege o repertório composto, entre 1933 e 1947, pelos parceiros Alcebíades Barcelos e Armando Marçal, uma das mais constantes e produtivas duplas de compositores da música popular brasileira.

In Odisha, there are daily newspapers such as The Samaj, The Sambad, The Dharitri, The Prameya, The AjiKali etc., their goals are similar: to provide information and raise awareness. Customer preference differs across various brands based on factors such as pricing, effectiveness, truthfulness, and content quality. Customer devotion to a specific brand will be confirmed by higher client happiness, which will also guarantee profit and a larger customer base in the long run.The research was purelybased on the survey conducted in Balasore&Bhadrak districts of Odisha. The sampling technique used was simplerandom sampling of advertisers. The data was collected through personal interview and structuredquestionnaire. The research instrument used was a questionnaire which helped in knowing the pulse ofthe readers. The main focus is to find out consumer perception towards Odia newspapers.

Having particular emphasis on women's liberties or empowering women, the paper aims to analyse the evolution or expansion of a socio-religious changes initiated by Raja Ram Mohan Roy in the 18th century. Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded the Bengali as Persian weekly publications Sambad Kaumudi as well as Mirat-ul Akhbar to serve as the foundation for his reformist revolution in India. This paper also emphasises Raja Ram Mohan Roy's contributions in reporting, that he subsequently utilised to communicate with the public or disseminate his contemporary views for India's cultural renewal or modernity. He believed that his nation could not advance socially or economically with knowledge. In order to set the way for socio-religious changes in the nation, he vigorously promoted contemporary education. This paper also attempts to analyse Raja Ram Mohan Roy's challenges in persuading the public to support women's education or the outlawing of cruel practises like sati. Roy was the driving force behind giving women more control over their lives as well as securing their honourable place in society. He established the Brahmo Samaj in 1829 in an effort to extend the support for his socio-religious reformation agenda.

A origem do samba rural, uma manifestção tipicamente paulista, estaria no Jongo, dança ritual realizada nas fazendas de cana desde o século XVIII, mesclado ao samba de roda, trazido por escravos crioulos importados do Nordeste pelos cafeicultores da região de Campinas, após 1850. Dessa junção surgiram tanto o batuque de umbigada de Piracicaba, Tietê e Capivari como o samba de bumbo campineiro. Focaliza-se a manutenção dessa tradição, através de associações de várias cidades dedicadas ao batuque de umbigada e por grupos mais recentes, que recriam as danças ou cantam e passam a compor sambas baseados na ancestralidade afro-brasileira.

O reconhecimento nacional e internacional do samba de roda como patrimônio cultural imaterial acarretou em diversas investigações sobre suas consequências musicais e sociais. Um aspecto comumente levantado é o da profissionalização dos sambadores, que antes se encontravam espontaneamente em seu cotidiano no que chamaremos de “samba de vizinho”, e que hoje se organizam nos “grupos de samba de roda”: instituições musicais com nome, registro de integrantes, ensaios marcados, etc. Este aspecto será aprofundado neste artigo a partir da história e de etnografia do samba de Cachoeira (BA), cidade cujas características singulares implicaram em processos de comercialização de seus bens culturais significativamente precedentes à patrimonialização do samba. Buscamos, com isso, por um lado, demonstrar como a patrimonialização do samba não cria, mas intensifica e reifica processos que lhe são muito anteriores que, por outro lado, não necessariamente suprimem formas tradicionais de fazer samba na região. Pelo contrário, argumentamos que o “grupo de samba de roda” atua, já desde meados do século XX, como facilitador na transição entre os sambas do cotidiano e aquele das chamadas tocadas, apresentado como espetáculo em contextos extraordinários e cristalizado sob a categoria do “samba de roda”.

This paper analyzes the carnival blocks exhibited in São Paulo city, from 1968 to 1991, based on their sambas-enredo [samba theme-songs] (or themes), following the rules of the formalization that took place in 1968 of carnivals and popular festivities in the city. This section ends with the inauguration of the Sambadrome in 1991, whose space became an icon for the parades of samba schools and blocks of Group 1. The period has its peculiarities in that it was marked by a dictatorial period (1968-1985) and a democratic one, which certainly had repercussions on the choice of parade themes. From a broader point of view, in addition to the changes in the country, there is an increasingly globalized world whose transformations affect carnivals, especially those practiced by the samba schools that exhibit parades marked by the monumentality of complex allegories and the chromatic explosion in the translation of the plots presented there, responding to media appeals for luxurious spectacles for their broadcasts. The blocks also underwent changes for their parades in the city streets. For this reflection, the sources used are the themes, the memories of the protagonists, the records of the Sociedade dos Amantes do Samba Paulista – SASP [Society of São Paulo Samba Lovers][1], which includes general information about the groups in the technical sheet, such as: the title of the block or school, the sambas-enredo (which bring each group together for the parades), the place chosen for each carnival performance; and news released by the press. Therefore, the question arises: what happens in the country and at Carnival during the period of this reflection? [1] On the Sociedade Amantes do Samba Paulista – SASP portal, information about these blocks (or schools) is precarious and incomplete, although the technical sheet contains several possibilities of data that would allow the profiles of these associations to be demarcated.

This article is based on the results of in-depth research related to the nurturing of the Sambas Malay ethnicity in the villages of Sambas Regency. The traditional parenting performed by the Sambas Malay ethnic parents in the villages is still ongoing today. This paper discusses how traditional care for early childhood still exists in rural Sambas District. This research was conducted using a qualitative method through a sociological approach. Data obtained through interviews and in-depth observations in the villages of Semparuk and Tebas districts, Sambas districts. The results of this study indicate that the Samba Malay ethnic children play with traditional games. In addition, the parenting that works as farmers invites their children to go to the fields. Bringing children to the fields is part of introducing children to nature. Finally, the Malay Sambas parents provide care in the form ofpoint out pronunciation, namely teaching children at an early age, especially when they are still babies, by inviting children to talk, sing songs, dhikr, and say poetry.

Abstract Aberrant glycolytic flux and mitochondrial respiration are known to drive tumor progression and metastasis. Therefore, targeting metabolic alterations in cancer is critical for developing novel cancer therapeutics. We have developed NGY-B as a first-in-Class small molecule inhibitor of the lactate transporters, MCT1 and MCT4, that also decreases mitochondrial respiration. These transporters play a crucial role in regulating both glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation in cancer cells. NGY-B treatment exhibited potent in vitro cytotoxicity in cancer cells with various levels of MCT1 and MCT4 expression. The on-target activity of NGY-B was validated by measuring intracellular and extracellular lactate levels. NGY-B blocks lactate import through MCT1 under high lactate conditions and lactate export through MCT4 in high glucose conditions. Seahorse and U-13C-glucose tracing analysis demonstrated NGY-B treatment modulates glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation consistent with the lactate measurement data. Therefore, NGY-B is a novel inhibitor of MCT1/4 while also exhibiting inhibition of mitochondrial respiration. Alzheimers sjukdom (AD) är den vanligaste formen av demens och kännetecknas av intracellulärt neurofibrillärt trassel (NFT) bestående av proteinet tau och extracellulära plack, uppbyggda av peptiden amyloid beta (Aβ). En växande skara studier har börjat peka mot att AD är en hjärnspecifik typ av diabetes. Insulinresistens följt av hyperinsulinemi och hyperglykemi är kännetecken för diabetes mellitus typ 2 (DMT2) och har visat sig vara en riskfaktor för AD. Insulin, ett hormon som kontrollerar glukoshomeostasen i perifera nervsystemet (PNS) och är viktigt för minne och inlärning, transporteras över blod-hjärnbarriären i en mättnadsbar transportmekanism och dess koncentration i centrala nervsystemet (CNS) minskar vid DMT2 och AD. Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), ett neuronskyddande protein som minskar ogynnsam β-sekretasklyvning av amyloid precursor protein (APP) i amyloidkaskadhypotesen, minskar i koncentration i hjärnan när mycket insulin transporteras in i CNS. γ-sekretas ökar sin aktivitet på APP vid höga halter kolesterol som är vanligt vid DMT2, Aβ fungerar då som en negativ inhibitor till HMG-Coa reduktas (HMGR), enzymet som bildar kolesterol och kan därmed reglera kolesterolhalterna. Regleringssystem för Aβ i blod-hjärnbarriären (BBB) som p-GP, LRP-1 och RAGE rubbas vid DMT2. Aβ och insulin delar samma degraderingssystem, insulin degrading enzyme (IDE), som reglerar halterna Aβ och insulin. Dessutom har Aβ oligomerer visat sig kunna bryta ned insulinreceptorer (IR). Vidare har läkemedel mot diabetes visat sig lindra demens hos AD patienter. I den här rapporten gås de molekylärfysiologiska sambanden igenom i detalj. Slutligen finns det fog för ett samband mellan metabolt syndrom, en riskfaktor för DMT2, och AD.

Resumo: Este trabalho consiste em apresentar o gênero pagode como gênero discursivo híbrido, visto que se apresenta como resultante de transformações propocionadas por atores sociais e por contextos históricos diferentes, os quais, juntos, foram imprimindo-lhe alterações musicais, temáticas e estruturais. O pagode, entendido como manifestação cultural de um povo, na qual se fundia a dança, a música, a festa, a comida, a bebida, o encontro com amigos, passa a ser um produto midiático, a partir da profissionalização do samba que, na década de 30, marca essa desvinculação. O registro do samba "Pelo Telefone"(1916), por Donga, inicia o processo de valorização do samba, o qual se define com a criação de um novo jeito de fazer samba pelo grupo do Estácio, representado por Ismael Silva. Os meios de comunicação da época, o disco e o rádio, veiculam o samba do Estácio com "roupagem" diferente. Os cantores e compositores (urbanos) do rádio cedo entenderem que era preciso vestir o samba com arranjos orquestrais para que pudesse ser concebido como música popular e fosse aceito pela sociedade da época. Nesse processo, os elementos que associam o samba à cultura negra vão sendo apagados e outros vão surgindo. A teoria bakthiniana de gênero (1997) é utilizada para dar contar do pagode enquanto gênero discursivo porque prevê, alem dos elementos construtivos formais: conteúdo temático, estilo e estrutura composicional, o caráter heterogêneo e mutável do gênero, ao concebê-lo como fruto da utilização da língua nas mais variadas esferas da atividade humana. As concepções de Chuche (1999) e Canclini (2000) acerca do hibridismo constitutivo das culturas também respaldam este estudo. São analisadas 22 letras de samba/pagode distribuídas em momentos diferentes de produção desse gênero: samba tradicional, oito;pagode samba de raiz, sete e pagode suingado, sete. A análise enfoca as temáticas relacionamento amoroso e samba, visando identificar como esses temas são tratados nas diferentes fases. Identifica-se que o gênero não apresenta uma estrutura composicional fixa, rígida, mas pode ser compreendido como uma crônica social do cotidiano. As modificações musicais, temáticas e estruturais do pagode são vistas como consequência da atividade humana em contextos históricos distintos
Abstract: This paper consists in presenting "Pagode" as a discursive and hybrid musical type, since it is a result of changes brought by social performers and historical contexts which together contributed to Pagode's musical, thematic, and structural alterations. Pagode can be understood as a cultural movement in which dance, music, party, friend¿s meetings were merged to help it to become a media product. In the 30s Samba begun the process of its professionalization with the Samba "Pelo telefone" (1916) by Donga. This movement leads to a new way of producing Samba by the group "Estácio" represented by Ismael Silva. By this time the media brought the Samba "Estácio" in a different format. Both singers and composers from the radio understood the necessity of incorporating orchestral arrangements to Samba. So that, it could be recognized as a popular kind of music and then being accepted by the society. In this process the elements which used to associate Samba to black culture were replaced by other concepts. The Bakhtiana's theory of genre (1997) is used to study Pagode as a discursive genre because it provides beside of the constitutive elements: thematic content, style, compositional structure, the heterogeneous and changeable characteristics of the genre to conceive it as a product of language's uses in the multiples spheres of human activity. The Cuche (1999) and Canclini (2000) concepts about constitutive hybridism of culture also support this study. Twenty-two Pagode¿s lyrics from different periods are analyzed : traditional Samba, eight; Pagode Samba de raiz, seven; Pagode swingado, seven. The analysis focus on loving relationship and Samba, seeking to identify how these themes are portrayed in different phases. Therefore, the genre cannot be represented as a fixed and rigid compositional structure, but as a social chronic from the daily life . The musical and structural changes of Pagode are seen as the consequences motivated from the human activities in distinct historical contexts. Key Words: Pagode, Discursive genre, Samba, Media

The study object of this thesis is the process of affirmation, (re)construction and (re)signification of the black identities in the discourses which cross the samba-enredo of African theme of the samba schools belonging to the elite group from the carioca carnival, in the period from 1960 and 2007. The main question which guides this research is the following: How does this discursive process occur and which are the possible effects resulting from it? This research aims to understand, through interpretation gestures of such discourses and from those which undergo the interview statements and the answers given to the questionnaires applied to spectators and parade exhibiters of these samba schools, in what way the negritude conception and the citizenship practice of the black Brazilian people, especially those from Rio de Janeiro, can be affected by the meaning production circulating in the discursive practices of these sambas. The research was theoretically related to the Applied Linguistics, however it articulates theories originated from Cultural Studies and Ethnic-racial Studies as well as it presents some theoretical and methodological fundamentals from the Discourse Analysis of French line. As concerns the methodology, it is of interpretative, qualitative basis with procedures of discursive character. The interview analysis did not reveal, as consequence of the discourses circulating in the sambas, a direct involvement of the black people who were interviewed in struggle for their citizenship practice, but it pointed out sliding of meaning in regard to the negritude emergence
O objeto de estudo desta tese ? o processo de afirma??o, (re) constru??o e (re/s/) significa??o de identidades negras nos discursos que atravessam os sambas de enredo de tem?tica africana das escolas de samba do grupo de elite do carnaval carioca no per?odo compreendido entre 1960 e 2007. A quest?o central que a orienta ? a seguinte: Como se d? esse processo discursivo e quais s?o os poss?veis efeitos decorrentes dele? Tem como objetivo compreender, atrav?s de gestos de interpreta??o de tais discursos e dos que atravessam enunciados de entrevistas e de respostas oferecidas a question?rios aplicados a espectadores e desfilantes dessas escolas de samba, de que forma a concep??o de negritude e a pr?tica do exerc?cio de cidadania dos negros brasileiros, especialmente os do Rio de Janeiro, podem ser afetadas pela produ??o de sentidos circulante nas pr?ticas discursivas desses sambas. Este estudo retrata a trajetória de duas lideranças fundamentais não só no plano da Escola de Samba GRES Portela como na trajetória em geral das Escolas de Samba do Rio de Janeiro. A escolha dos dois personagens, além da conhecida relevância de ambos na história do carnaval carioca, se dá pelo fato de que os dois aparecem como importantes referências de suas agremiações carnavalescas representando e organizando interesses coletivos. Pretendo comparar a trajetória desses dois personagens inserindo ambos em seus contextos históricos. Respectivamente as primeiras três décadas do século XX, e os anos de 1960 até 1980. Elaborando uma pesquisa que compõe um balanço acerca das transformações nas Escolas de Samba do Rio de Janeiro, que ao longo do tempo se forjaram como representação máxima dos festejos carnavalescos da cidade. Analisar as Escolas de Samba pode ajudar a compreender o movimento da cultura popular na história recente da cidade, e como essa se articulou com sociedade e política.
This study analyzes the history of two key leaders not only in terms of Portela Samba School, as in the general trajectory of the Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro. The choice of two actors, besides the known importance of both in the history of carnival, is given by the fact that the two appear as important references for their carnival associations, representing and organizing collective interests. It is intended to compare the trajectory of these two characters by inserting both in their historical contexts. Respectively, the first three decades of 20th Century, and the years 1960 to 1980. The research consists in a review about the transformations in the Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro, which in the course of time were forged as the main representation of Carnival festivities in the city. Analyze the Samba Schools can help to understand the movement of popular culture in the recent history of the city, and how this has been linked to society and politics

This text intended to rebuild the samba composer Geraldo Filme´s musical memory and his relations with the black groups in São Paulo City. By analyzing and reflecting upon his memory, I concluded that Geraldo Filme and black groups elaborated what was called micro-áfricas , understood as cultural expressions of resistance to imprint their marks, projects, makings and knowledge in specific territories in town. Before a city impregnated by urbanization, metropolization and verticalization which the paulista elite transformed into a hegemonic project, the micro-áfricas appeared as a dissonant counter-point to the dominating cultural forms in order to operate other cities and other ways of living. By taking the analysis of Geraldo´s memory as a conducting line, the micro-áfricas were identified in his familiar and communitarian living, at the samba schools and samba circles, in his lyrics, musical instruments handcrafting, religiosity, dancing saloons, theater, shows, carnivals and in the rhythmic cycles of his musicality. These various living ways defined and delimitated the micro-africas as bothe public and private cultural expressions. When analyzed every living in its peculiarity and in the relation among themselves in the black territories, I rebuilt Geraldo Filme´s and micro-áfricas memory could and should be accessed constantly in the present so that the black groups cultural expressions may be preserved and re-signified
Esse texto pretendeu reconstruir a memória musical do sambista Geraldo Filme e suas relações com os grupos negros na cidade de São Paulo. Ao analisar e refletir sobre essa memória conclui que Geraldo Filme e os grupos negros elaboraram aquilo que denominei de micro-áfricas como expressões culturais de resistência para, imprimir suas marcas, projetos, fazeres e saberes em espaços específicos da cidade. Diante de uma cidade impregnada pela urbanização, metropolização e verticalização que fora transformado em projeto hegemônico das elites paulistas, as micro-áfricas se configuraram como um contraponto dissonante às formas culturais dominantes para operar outras cidades e outras vivências. Tendo como fio condutor a análise da memória Geraldo fui identificando as micro-áfricas nas suas vivências familiares, comunitárias, nas escolas e nas rodas de samba, nas suas letras de música, nas produções artesanais de instrumentos, nas formas de religiosidades, nos salões de dança, no teatro, shows, nos carnavais e nos ciclos rítmicos das musicalidades. Essas variadas vivências definiram e delimitaram as micro-áfricas como expressões culturais públicas e privadas. Ao analisar cada uma dessas vivências nas suas particularidades e em relação entre si nos territórios negros, fui reconstruindo a memória de Geraldo Filme e das micro-áfricas e projetando-as numa temporalidade posta no futuro como uma perspectiva a ser vivida. Mostro também que a memória de Geraldo Filme e das micro-áfricas podem e devem ser acessadas constantemente no presente, para que, as expressões culturais dos grupos negros possam ser preservadas e resignificadas

Contemporary Samoan society is a reflection of a number of different cultures and influences. As a result of several attempts at colonisation by the British, German and New Zealand Administrations the cultural landscape of Samoa has been influenced by many different groups and peoples. As a result of integration and assimilation into the Samoan way of life the Chinese have been accepted into Samoan society and have contributed to the development of Samoan culture and identity. This thesis explores the history of the Chinese in Samoa as a method of uncovering the true extent of the influence played by the Chinese, both as a people and as a nation, in the make-up of Samoan society. It uncovers the roles and impacts of the Chinese in the island nation from the first Chinese arrivals in the late 19th century, through various political administrations and into the present day. The thesis will illustrate the importance of the Chinese in Samoa and how they have contributed to, and helped to shape, the Samoan people, politics, culture, identity and economy. This thesis explains the importance of the Chinese in Samoa by examining important events in Samoan history in the past 150 years. Such events include the forbidding of Chinese settlement in Samoa through the Malietoa Laupepa Law of 1880, the establishment of the Chinese indentured scheme, and the ‘new wave’ of Chinese aid being poured into the Pacific, including Samoa, in recent times.

Several decades ago the musical genre samba-enredo became popular and was spread through most of the Brazilian territory. The purpose of this dissertation is to reveal the way by which the samba-enredo is transposed to the reality of the world of the samba in Florianópolis, identifying particular procedures involved in its production and analyzing the historical and social context inherent to the local environment. The ethnographic approach employed in this research consisted in the insertion of the researcher in the group of composers of the Escola de Samba Protegidos da Princesa, and completed by a historical and documental approach. The theoretical references emerge from the anthropologic field, through the works of Leopoldi (1978) and Cavalcanti (1994; 1999), associated to the historical-cultural approach by Tramonte (1996), focused on the context of the world of the samba in Florianópolis. The historical process of the local escolas de samba can be defined by the social growth, gradually tending to a increased complexity of those institutions, both administrative and musical, here represented by the composer of the samba-enredo and the whole group of composers. The process of production of the samba-enredo causes deep changes in the musical work, as a result of a succession of stages defined by two factors: changes in benefit of the whole and changes in benefit of the performance, produced by agents which are both external and internal to the musical nucleus of the association. In this sense, the present compositional standard for sambas-enredo, which I designate by optimized samba-enredo, frequently dialogues with the ideal of efficacy and best performance of the musical work, here perceived as playing an essential part in the success of the association, constructed from intra- and extramusical aspects
Há várias décadas o sub-gênero musical samba-enredo popularizou-se, tendo sua prática disseminada em grande parte do território brasileiro. Esta dissertação tem como objetivo revelar como se dá a prática de sambas-enredo transposta para a realidade do mundo do samba em Florianópolis, identificando procedimentos particulares envolvidos em sua produção e analisando o contexto histórico-cultural inerente ao âmbito local. Para tanto, a pesquisa emprega uma abordagem etnográfica, realizada por meio da inserção do pesquisador na ala de compositores da Escola de Samba Protegidos da Princesa, da capital catarinense, completada por uma abordagem histórico-documental. O referencial teórico utilizado surge do campo antropológico, mediante os trabalhos de Leopoldi (1978) e Cavalcanti (1994; 1999), aliados à abordagem histórico-cultural de Tramonte (1996), focada no contexto do mundo do samba de Florianópolis. O processo histórico das escolas de samba locais pode ser caracterizado pelo inchaço social, tendendo gradualmente a uma maior complexidade tanto administrativa destas instituições, quanto no âmbito musical, representada aqui pelo compositor de samba-enredo e a ala de compositores. O período de produção do samba-enredo provoca agudas transformações na obra musical, como resultado de uma sucessão de etapas classificadas segundo duas acepções: alterações em prol do conjunto (APC) e alterações em prol da performance (APP), produzidas a partir da participação de personagens externos e internos ao núcleo musical da agremiação. Nesse sentido, o atual modelo composicional de sambasenredo, ao qual chamei samba-enredo otimizado, dialoga frequentemente com o ideal de eficiência e bom desempenho da obra musical, entendida como parte essencial no sucesso da agremiação, construído a partir de aspectos intra e extra-musicais

What is the fa'aSamoa? Is it fair to just say the "Samoan Way"? This study aims to define and determine the significance of such an all-encompassing concept. The objectives of this investigation is to illustrate the evolution of the fa'aSamoa, from its "classical" model to a "variant" model practiced among the Samoan Christchurch community; yet, still be classified as the fa'aSamoa. This investigation aims to look at the institutions of the fa'aSamoa to highlight how change within the Samoan community is not only from "external" forces but also change has occurred from within the Samoan community. One of the objectives of this thesis is to highlight the different groups within the Samoan community, who have different needs from that of other members in the community. The transportation of the fa'aSamoa successfully to these shores has brought about an element of "togetherness" among the Samoan communities. Furthermore, the fa'aSamoa has evolved from the "Samoan Way" to a concept of traditions.

Kerja sama keantariksaan merupakan salah satu faktor penting pembangunan kemampuan keantariksaan negara berkembang termasuk Indonesia. Kerja sama dapat dilakukan secara bilateral maupun multilateral. Indonesia pada tahun 2013 telah mendatangani persetujuan kerja sama di bidang keantariksaan dengan Pemerintah Tiongkok. Tiongkok telah meratifikasi perjanjian tersebut. Di sisi lain, Indonesia sampai saat ini belum meratifikasi perjanjian tersebut. Pertanyaan penelitian yang diajukan adalah bagaimana skema kerja sama yang tepat bagi kerja sama bilateral Indonesia-Tiongkok di bidang keantariksaan keantariksaan dan bagaimana seharusnya langkah Pemerintah Indonesia (dhi LAPAN) terhadap kerja sama bilateral keantariksaan dengan Pemerintah Tiongkok? Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis skema kerja sama bilateral Indonesia-Tiongkok di bidang keantariksaan yang tepat dengan menggunakan kerangka kerja yang dikembangkan oleh Broniatowski dkk (2008). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan menggunakan kerangka kerja evaluasi Broniatowski. Setelah dilakukan analisis, dihasilkan kesimpulan bahwa skema yang tepat adalah skema parallel mission dan Pemerintah Indonesia (LAPAN) segera melakukan langkah tindak lanjut yang diperlukan sesuai dengan ketentuan perundangan nasional.

Abstract Largely acknowledged as the most important Brazilian popular music genre, samba occupies a floating space in national music valorization. At times, samba is praised as being representative of Brazilian people’s soul, while at other times it suffers prejudice due to its racialized connections with blackness. This chapter discusses how this floating valorization is related to samba’s association with and definition as “black” music throughout its more than one hundred years of existence. Four moments or periods in samba’s history will be illustrated, during which sambistas have negotiated blackness in different ways, while regarding the genre as a pivotal element in people’s fight against racism and, more recently, sexism.

The conclusion reviews the main points made in this work. First, a review of different interpretations of samba’s history sheds new light on firsthand accounts given by samba pioneers. Second, an analysis of commercial samba recordings made in Rio de Janeiro between 1917 and 1933 permits a better understanding of the stylistic change that took place during this period. Third, the aforementioned stylistic change was situated within the historical context of Brazilian popular music and put into dialogue with antecedent musical genres, such as lundu. Finally, although previous studies on samba have bemoaned the genre’s “whitening,” this analysis on its stylistic change suggests, to the contrary, a musical Africanization of samba in the period under consideration.

This chapter reexamines the topic of the professionalization of samba by discussing the lyrics of samba songs by Noel Rosa, the most important professional composer in Brazilian popular music during the first half of the 1930s. Special attention is paid to the samba song “Feitiço da Vila” (“The Vila Spell,” Vadico-Rosa), from whose lyrics the title of this book and this chapter were taken. In response to a younger composer, Wilson Batista, who had glorified the proud exhibition of samba’s provocations in society, Rosa compares samba to a musical spell that fools its listeners by avoiding the exhibition of its visible surface signs, and is thus better able to win them over. In the proposed reading, the conversion of the signs of the malandro and of the spell into musical signs helps to consummate the transformation of the malandro sambista into a sambista composer.

Even prior to the formal annexation of Samoa by the Germans, Samoan politics, including the contest for Samoa’s kingship, had been distorted by the influence of German, British, and American imperial rivalry. This tendency continued into the German period, during which Kaiser Wilhelm II was proclaimed to be the King of Samoa and the paramount Samoan leader was reduced to becoming subordinate to the German emperor and his colonial governor. The heir apparent to this paramountcy, Tupua Tamasese Lealofi, was able to visit Kaiser Wilhelm II in Berlin, albeit as part royal envoy and part anthropological exhibit. Despite his aim of forging a personal connection to the German emperor, before Tamasese could become Samoa’s paramount leader, the paramountcy too was discontinued and converted into an advisory position shared between two Samoan notables, one of whom was Tamasese.

This work newly proposes an uncertainty quantification method named SAMBA PC (Sparse Approximation of Moment-Based Arbitrary Polynomial Chaos) that offers a single solution to many current problems in turbomachinery applications. At the moment every specific case is characterized by a variety of different input types such as histograms (from experimental data), normal PDFs (design rules) or fat tailed PDFs (for rare events). Thus, the application of UQ requires the adaptation of ad hoc methods for each individual case. A second problem is that parametric PDFs have to be determined for all inputs. This is difficult if only few samples are available. In gas turbines, however, the collection of statistical information is difficult, expensive and having scarce information is the norm. A third critical limitation is that if using Non-Intrusive Polynomial Chaos methods the number of required simulations grows exponentially with increasing numbers of input uncertainties: the so-called ‘curse of dimensionality’. In this work it is shown that the fitting of parametric PDFs to small data sets can lead to large bias and the direct use of the available data is more accurate. This is done by propagating uncertainty through several test functions and the CFD simulation of a diffuser, highlighting the impact of different PDF fittings on the output. From the results it is concluded that the direct propagation of the experimental data set is preferable to the fit of parametric distributions if data is scarce. Thus, the suggested method offers an alternative to the maximum entropy theorem to handle scarce data. SAMBA simplifies the mathematical procedure for many different input types by basing the polynomial expansion on moments. Its moment-based expansion automatically takes care of arbitrary combinations of different input data. SAMBA is also numerically efficient compared to other UQ implementations. The relationship between the number of random variables and number of simulation is linear (only 21 simulations for 10 input random variables are required). It is shown that SAMBA’s algorithm can propagate a high number of input distributions through a set of nonlinear analytic test functions. Doing this the code needs a very small number of simulations and preserves a 5% error margin. SAMBA’s flexibility to handle different forms of input distributions and a high number of input variables is shown on a low pressure turbine blade based on H2 profile. The relative importance of manufacturing errors in different location of the blade is analyzed.

The Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) owns and operates the Fort Calhoun Station Unit 1 (FCS), a single unit Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) plant. This plant was licensed by the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to operate at a core power level of 1500 MWt for a period of 40 years. In 2002 OPPD submitted a license renewal application to the NRC and recently, this application for a license renewal for a period of 20 more years was approved by the NRC. In order to secure the license renewal, the utility evaluated Severe Accident Mitigation Alternatives (SAMAs) and identified potential risk significant and cost-beneficial plant changes. This process consisted of a review of past industry changes obtained via past SAMA analyses and advanced reactor design efforts as well as a review of FCS PSA insights. While most of the industry-based SAMAs were screened out, the internally focused changes were mostly found to be risk significant and cost effective. This paper presents the SAMA analysis performed in support of the FCS license renewal application and discusses the insights from this analysis.

Denna rapport presenterar resultat för Östersjön 2022 från den svenska delen av den internationella undersökningen Sprat Acoustic Survey (SPRAS-Swe). Den internationella undersökningen har pågått sedan 2001, men Sveriges deltagande började först 2020 i och med leveransen av Sveriges nya forskningsfartyg R/V Svea. Undersöknigens syfte är att samla in fiskerioberoende data för beräkning av mängden skarpsill och sill i Östersjön. Det sammanställda resultatet utgör grunden för arbetet med beståndskattning av sill och skarpsillinom ICES arbetsgrupp WGBFAS. I en pilotstudie har vi därtill undersökt möjligheten att utnyttja SPRAS-Swe som en ekosystemexpedition vilket inneburit att utöver den datainsamling som krävs för arbetet med beståndsskattning av sill och skarpsill (WGBFAS) även registrera andra typer av insamlade data för att öka kunskapen kring ekosystemet Östersjön. Ytterligare en målsättning har varit att utveckla insamlings- och analysmetoder för att på sikt minska dödligheten av fisk i samband med vetenskapliga undersökningar.
