The aim of this article is to identify the emotional and semantic dominant in the poetry of the participants in the Joint Forces Operation. Materials & Methods. The study is carried out from the standpoint of a comprehensive psycholinguistic approach based on the integration of discourse analysis and psychoanalytic interpretation. To recognize the emotional and semantic dominant in the poetry of the participants in the Joint Forces Operation, the basic emotion theory is important. Decomposing complex emotions into simpler pieces of basic emotions makes it possible to determine the emotional and semantic dominant of a text. Materials to conduct this research are poetry of the participants in the Joint Forces Operation that is posted on Facebook social media accounts “Poems of ATO. Soldier”, “Songs created in the zone of Anti-Terrorist Operation”. Results & discussions. The poetry is characterized by paired combinations of the emotion of anger with emotions of fear, disgust, sadness, grief and joy. Anger also becomes the main element of complex emotions consisting of several components. The semantic dominant in the poetry from the perspective of the emotion of anger can be expressed as “I hate war”. Expression of intensity of combatants’ suffering is achieved in poetry by conveying sthenic emotion resulting in increased activity, which we denote as grief, and asthenic emotion which doesn’t encourage further action, which we denote as sadness. The semantic dominant in the poetry from the perspective of grief and sadness can be considered as a cry for help. Emotion of fear in the poetry can be associated with the emergence of “existential anxiety”, a core of which lies in a person’s perception of the threat of non-being (mortality). In the poetry the emotion of fear often adjoins the emotion of guilt. The semantic dominant in the poetry from the perspective of the emotions of fear and guilt is understanding of death and immortality in the philosophical and religious context. In contrast to negative emotions associated with the past or present, the emotion of joy refers to the future tense. The semantic dominant in the poetry from the perspective of the emotion of joy is the idea of peace. Conclusions. Basic emotions of anger, grief, sadness prevail in the poetry of the participants in the Joint Forces Operation. However, any emotion is not in its own right, it exists in manifold combinations with other basic emotions creating different conglomerates. The general semantic dominant in the poetry of the participants in the Joint Forces Operation is “No to war”.

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar is considered one of the successful Turkish authors in the twentieth century. Undoubtfully, he left his own print during the age he lived in. He wrote several books in several literary fields like poetry, novel, short story, essay writing and analysis. Although he wrote so many literary works in several fields, we often know him as a poet. I decide to make my research paper deal with the concept of sadness and distress which is the main subject for our paper. It reflects the nature of Turkish society. The reason behind that is the condition of sadness and pains in the Turkish history. Turkish people suffered from persecution and pain from the beginning of their settlement in central Asia. This resulted in deep wounds. Accordingly, the poet made use of sadness and agonies in his literary texts. We can also notice that Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar is a poet and scholar in the history of literature. Hence, the poet who knows his history well, he will witness more sadness and distress. This will include, without any doubts, those two concepts intensively in his works. It is noteworthy that the poet introduced a few works in this field because of his accuracy in poetry. Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar is considered one of the pioneer figures in psychology. This is why we see that the poet deals with the concept of sadness and distress in a very wonderful way in his poems. This is clear in his writings about human psychology.

Sadness, crying, pain and suffering in her poetry, and the follower of Al-Khansa’s poetry in lamentation finds the echo of psychological defeat in her poems as a result of the loss of her brother and her bereavement in him. Al-Khansa’s poetry, especially lamentation, prompts the reader to represent the state of refraction and pity that he sees in the poetic images, the chosen language, and the glimpse of sadness that dominates the music of her poems. We stand on Al-Khansa’s poetry as a poet capable of her artistic tools on the one hand, and the weak female woman who has nothing but moans and groans and her body on the other hand to express her sadness, to reveal the subconscious side using the psychoanalytic mechanisms of the poems of lamentation and show the pent-up psychological struggles as a result of psychological and dark labyrinths that she faced with death her brother. The events begin with the broken, painful female Khansa, to unveil the effect of the psychological defeat that she went through, so she transformed her life and tried to resist it with all her strength to face the multiple psychological disorders, some of which are about to turn into a decade. Then the research aims to clarify the impact of manifestations of psychological defeat on the aesthetics of the poetic elegiac images of Khansa, to monitor its implications, and the dimensions of this effect on the elegy of Khansa in the light of psychoanalytic reading, in order to clarify the poetic image and probe the depths of the aesthetic impact and artistic formulation and for the recipient. Annotation:
Tang epoch trains (618–907) – an important source of judgments about expressive possibilities and sound archetypes of the Chinese flute, preserved in the music of the Celestial Empire composers of the XX – XXI centuries. The purpose of this investigation is to establish sound archetypes of the flute in the Chinese poetry of the Tang epoch. The methods of investigation are historical, semantic, genre and comparative approaches. The scientific novelty of the study is to introduce the concept of «flute poetry» of the Tang era into the musicology context, to establish its characteristic properties (spiritualization of the desolate time space with a magic melody, the reflection of the state of the soul of a lonely hero, the presence of the image of the listener-poet, connection with the elements of the wind, the nocturonal semantics of the natural landscape, signs of the palace style, the embodiment in the sounds of the flute - the mediator between the earthly and celestial worlds – philosophical ideas), the formation of the thesaurus of flute affects (moaning, sadness, sadness, state of waiting, experiencing loneliness). The samples of «flute poetry» by Li Bo, Du Fu, Wang Wei, Zhao Gu are considered. The image of the jade flute from Li Bo's poem symbolizes the priceless in human life. In Li Bo's poem about the Qiang Maiden, the flute music takes on the meaning of a leitmotif that accompanies the drama of love and separation. In Du Fu's work, the limits of earthly time and space contrast with the boundless celestial chronotope associated with the flute's sound image. In Wang Wei's poetry, the flute's crying accompanies the suffering of an abandoned woman and finds a response in the soul of a lonely traveler. Zhao Gu's poem includes the names of mythical flute artists Huan Tzu and Ma Rong, contributing to the sacralization of time and space in the work. Conclusions. In «flute poetry» of the Tang era, there are typical features of a common creative method inherent to the masters of the word «golden age»: the sound image of the flute is inscribed in a common artistic continuum based on the reflection of the poet's surrounding nature in a lyrical-philosophical landscape.

This study aims to uncover the deepest meaning of language signs in Mahmoud Darwish's Hiya Fil Masāi Waḥīdatin poetry using Micheal Riffaterre's semiotic theory. This research uses a descriptive method with qualitative analysis. The source of this research data is the poerty Hiya Fil Masāi Waḥīdatin which consists of 34 lines. In interpreting signs in poetry, Riffaterre offers two concepts of reading. The first stage is through heuristic reading, then hermeneutic reading, followed by models, variants, matrices, as well as hypograms. The results of this study were found in heuristic readings of the meanings that are still ambiguous and heterogeneous. On the other hand, in hermeneutic reading, the model that is in the form of "sadness" is found in stanzas 1 and 2. These two stanzas represent the entire content of the poem, for the whole stanza reflects a man's sorrow for him (his country). Then the model was developed into variants namely sympathy and struggle. The matrix in this poem describes "the meaning of a homeland". The hypogram of Hiya Fil Masāi Waḥīdatin poetry is backed by two poetries, namely Yaumiyātu Jurḥ Filasṭīnī and Al-Waṭan ‘an Syain which have the meaning of suffering from alienation and longing so that a sense of struggle arises.

Annotation:
Vasyl Stus is a brilliant representative of Ukrainian existentialism, a person of tragic fate. Emotionalism and complexity of his poetic manner, «obscureness» of verses to his contemporaries and even the majority of readers are neither escape from reality, nor deliberate inversion of reality, of which the poet was blamed by the Soviet critics; it is more of a creation of Stus’s own reality, search of new ways for Ukrainian literature to move forward. Finding a solution to the existential problem of meaning in the person’s existence, inner world, spiritual experience in relations with the world is the object of Vasyl Stus’s creative concept. Guided by philosophical tenets of existentialism, the poet’s persona is in search of his identity within it. This search causes horror, despair, and a sense of existential tragedy. Thus, the poet’s existentialistic nature has determined the figurative method of expressing his philosophy. V. Stus’s existentialism, the depth of his philosophical thinking are brilliantly expressed in conceptual polysemantic images that fill his poetry. The main ones among them are oxymorons. The existentialistic spirit in his poetry is manifested in the form of oxymorons, which we associate with the peculiarities of the poet’s tragic worldview and great capabilities of oxymorons for its expression, as well as with the features of his poetic style that are unusual for Ukrainian literature: reach after condensed and concentrated imagery; poetical reproduction of the emotional charge of facts; search for new overtones in the words to convey new emotional and psychological connotations. Poet’s use of oxymorons represents the hard way he went from contradictory worldview, internal disharmony, complex and unconventional worldview to all these internal conflicts being reflected in his extraordinary imagery. This present article deals with the subject group of oxymoronic imagery with the joy/sadness semantic opposition in the poetry of the Ukrainian poet Vasyl Stus; analyzes the semantic connection of oxymoron with the peculiarities of the artist’s worldview. New figurative meanings acquired by the lexemes in oxymoronic expressions are the means used by the author to manifest his attitude towards reality.

Abstract This study tested the hypothesis that features of linguistically non-mandatory phonological recurrence (rhyme, alliteration, assonance, and consonance), parameters of word positioning (position within a line and line position) and dominant stress peaks are related to readers’ identification of distinctively joyful and sad words in poetry. To this end, forty-eight participants read eight German poems, completed an underlining task, and filled out a brief questionnaire. Results show that these target features are clearly of importance for readers’ perception of pronounced levels of joy and sadness. Words featuring alliteration, assonance or consonance were significantly more often underlined as distinctively joyful than were words that lack these features. Our study shows also that words that feature a dominant stress peak and are placed in more advanced positions within the poems were more likely to be identified as emotional (distinctively joyful and sad) when compared to words in earlier and unstressed positions.

The article examines the role and functions of the concept “joy” in the poetic work of Sergei Yesenin. The author proceeds from the fact that the poet’s pene-tration into the deep layers of national consciousness and subconscious, memory and primordial memory is determined by the end-to-end multi-level archetypicality of his – 71 – artistic thinking. Yesenin’s poetic creativity infects the reader with both aesthetic emo-tions and a long-term emotional state and mood, which allows one to feel the emotion-al background of the poet’s lyrics as a whole, to get closer to its values and orienta-tions. In the figurative structure of Yesenin’s texts, the concept of “joy” is correlated with the concept of “sadness”, and they both represent two poles of national con-sciousness, both manifestations of the collective unconscious of the national spirit and its emotional, rational and behavioral stereotypes of the lyrical hero. Yesenin under-stood the tasks of poetry as peacemaking, resolving the main contradictions of exist-ence through the art of words. The poet’s semantics of the concept “joy” has a complex hierarchy and is considered in the article in various contexts: mythological, folklore-poetic, biblical, social, personal-psychological, metaphorical. A unique personification of joy is the bird of paradise Alkonst or Alkonos, the maiden bird of the sun god Khors, who brings happiness. The concept of joy in Yesenin’s poetry has many shades and emotional states, through which a polysemy of meanings and a multi-colored palette of Yesenin’s poems are created: “quiet joy”, “meek joy”, “poor joy”, “sad joy”, “bright joy”, “quiet” joy", "radiant joy". At the same time, the subject of joy can be not only the author or his lyrical “I”, but also Rus', Russia, the Russian land. In Yesenin’s post-revolutionary work, the mood of joy is increasingly colored or correlated with sadness. The condition for a joyful existence in society and a person’s personal life is both social transformation and the establishment of harmony in life, the victory of joy over sadness.

Japanese forms of verse are beginning to occupy an important place in the Udmurt poetry of recent times. In the 1990s, the dialogue of cultures was directed mainly to the West. In the new millennium, the internal mechanisms of culture begin to actualize the classical East. There comes a time of worldview and understanding of what is happening, haiku is becoming one of the popular genres. The purpose of the study is to identify national features of the haiku genre in the Udmurt lyrics. The object of analysis is the poems of A. Leontiev, S. Matveev and Alexei Arzamazov, written in the form of a Japanese three-line poem. The method of analysis is comparative studies. The results of the study are as follows. Udmurt poets, writing in the form of haiku, strive to see the big world in a small detail, to show the eternal in a moment. The autumn landscape becomes attractive in that it conveys “light sadness” (sabi). Thus, the poets do not copy the Japanese canons, but bring a national flavor. The unexpectedness of the finale (koan) in Udmurt haiku is usually achieved by the fact that the poet passes from one spatial dimension to another.

Poetry (Gedich) is a literary work that belongs to the category of lyrics. Compared to other types of literary works such as epics and dramas, poetry has a more dense and beautiful language and the meaning in poetry is multi-interpreted. Each individual can have their own interpretation. The language used in poetry is also not everyday language. Tells about the struggle of the German people during the Nazi occupation, and the sadness of the German people who live with great difficulties. So this poem explains the condition of Hitler’s leadership which did not put humanity first, so that many died in the end and it was the nation’s best sons who were sacrificed for war with the condition that all access was limited. The creation of meaning in Deutschland poetry is caused by rhyme and enjambement. The rhyme in the poem is irregular, this illustrates that what is characteristic of beauty is not prioritized, but emphasizes the integrity of meaning. Apart from rhyme, Enjambement is also found in poetry.Germany is also hated by other countries due to Hitler’s actions. Initially Hitler’s decision to annex Austria (15 March 1938) and Czechoslovakia was still tolerated by other nations, but then the dispossession of Poland had precipitated the outbreak of World War II.

Poetry provides peace, calmness, and comfort to the minds by elevating moods in distress and duress. Studies show that poetry therapy has proven a boon to patients suffering from serious ailments, augments their emotional resilience, and brings joy. Our brains are electrified with the rhyme and rhythm of the poetry to give emotional reactions to joy and sadness. Like the sweet melody of music, poetry heals our emotional hurts. The metaphors embellish the poetic lines with magical brilliance and glitter with astute meaning and message. Diction plays a very decisive role in discerning the poet’s leanings. Reflection, perception, and attachment are interwoven in diction so inextricably that they turn the poet’s mouthpiece and roar and rave with perfect resonance to poetic experiences. Environmental challenges have inspired poets to use poetry as media to convey protest, sadness, or anger toward environmental damage. As a form of artistic expression, poetry is a powerful medium to convey concerns about ecology. This study aims to describe expressions of dysphemism in the form of hatred and profanity towards forest destroyers in Indonesian poetry. This qualitative study collected data from the three anthologies, namely (1) Riwayat Asap Membungkam Jerebu Lewat Sastra (The History of Smoke Silencing Haze through Literature), (2) Puisi Hijau Resonansi Serindit (Green Poetry: The Resonance of the Magpie Robin), and (3) Metamorfosis Rimba Sehimpun Puisi Hijau Warga SMA Cendana dan Penyair Tamu (Metamorphosis of the Jungle: A Collection of Green Poetry by Cendana High School Students and Guest Poets). The data were analyzed based on the theory of ecocriticism. The study shows that Indonesian poets (1) expressed hatred using the diction of greed combined with avarice expressions, and (2) expressed profanity using curse expressions. These dictions or expressions show that Indonesian poets are concerned about nature’s existence. If the situation is reversed, i.e., the forest and the earth are damaged, poets can act harshly according to the context and situation; they hate and condemn through their poetry. Through the use of dysphemism, environmental poetry encourages reflection and awareness of environmental damage caused by irresponsible human actions. The poem invites readers to consider the consequences of these actions and encourages changes in behavior to protect nature.

In EFL poetry writing, a mindfulness-based approach stimulates novelty, new perspective, context awareness, and productivity. The process of how the mindfulness-based approach is implemented is gained through the narrative inquiry of the learning. This study aims to identify the voice of identity revealed through mindfulness-based poetry writing. The researchers focused on the voice of identity because it is a crucial aspect of poetry that can help the reader to understand and feel the message of the poetry. Study data were collected from three respondents that were selected using purposive sampling. Those respondents were the 6th-semester students who were taking Poetry Course. The researchers used mindful journals and interviews to collect the study data and analyzed them using cross-case analysis. The results showed that through narrative inquiry, language learning through poetry writing could be understood as a series of experiences, the journeys of feelings and emotions. From the narratives' data, the poets' voice is revealed. The poetry reveals some voices, such as trauma, sadness, loneliness, and self-validation. Besides, this study also found that mindfulness has a significant role in helping students to frame their voices. Thus, considering the study's results, it is recommended that students find a way to improve their mindfulness, and teachers should find a teaching strategy to support it.

This research aims to probe the meanings of farewells and the characteristics of Son’gok Yi Tal’s farewell poetry, as well as the modes of expressions employed in verbalizing the subject matter. Good byes appear often in Yi Tal‘s poetry because his poetic self within the work is a ’wanderer’ and a ‘vagabond’. Being unable to settle down and having to leave produces repeated farewells. His poetic self wanders due to warfare and poverty - which compounds the sadness of the good byes. Although this poetic self reflects the actual personal history of Yi Tal, neither the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, nor the historical and social contexts of the poet - for instance, of him being a sŏ-ŏl, which impoverished him - are made apparent in the poetry. Rather, farewell is depicted as a yoke of destiny in which no human can free themselves from. His farewell poetry focuses on illustrating the human ‘sorrow’ itself which is sealed inside fate. The decision to select farewell as the subject matter in his works, including yuefu poetry(樂府詩), also comes from the idea that farewell is the most apt subject for a genuine depiction of human sentiment. Next, modes of expressions in Yi Tal’s farewell poetry have been inspected in two aspects. The first aspect concerns the characteristics apparent in the use of imagery; in describing the scene - which gives rise to the sentiment of farewell - Yi Tal often employs images of descent and darkness, as well as images of aimless drifting. Another in this aspect is the effective use of acoustic imagery; the sounds that are largely associated with seasons - such as cry of a cuckoo, nightingale, fall cicada, cricket, or a frosty wind - ring through the poems, working to deepen the sentiments of farewell. Following this, characteristics pertaining to composition techniques are discussed. First, Yi Tal juxtaposes farewells with encounters to highlight its sorrowful nature. The joy of the meeting intensifies the sorrow of the parting - and a brief encounter during the war brings sadness rather than delight. The farewells of the past are reminded in a poem about an encounter, and short meetings are followed by long separations. This mode of expression effectively communicates the sorrow of a good bye as a yoke of destiny. Another is to articulate the farewell of tomorrow in the last two lines of the poem; this mode serves to show the restrained sorrow through visualization. Yi Tal is an important poet who epitomizes a certain turn that took place in mid Chosŏn era - the turn towards admiration of the Tang poetry style. His works call for a more thorough inspection, especially since the number of the remaining works is scarce. And in doing so, ‘farewell’ is a topic that requires much deliberation because of the weight it carries in his works. Further discussion is warranted on whether Yi Tal’s farewell poetry shows any difference when compared to the farewell poetry of his peers, or the poets of later generations.

This essay places More's Sadness of Christ in the ancient genre of consolatio. Arising out of Socrates’ use of philosophy as a means of consolation in the Phaedo, the genre was epitomized in Boethius’ Consolation of Philosophy. In the genre, philosophy, with the help of poetry and rhetoric, provides moral remedies to suffering man with the hope of reordering his passions, intellect, and will to their true good. In other words, the genre of consolatio is philosophy's attempt to provide a solution to the moral problem of evil. Thomas More's Sadness of Christ is a Christian version of this ancient genre. While appropriating philosophical principles and images, More recasts those principles and images in the light of faith, and gives the Christian martyr's proper preparation for death and suffering by reordering his passions and intellect to their proper good through consolation in prayer and meditation on the sufferings of Christ.

A new labeled poem emotion dataset was developed, containing 9452 poems with emotional labels of joy, sadness, and love. Various deep learning models were trained on this dataset. The results show that traditional deep learning models, such as one-dimensional Convolutional Neural Networks (1DCNN), Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, performed with F1-scores of 0.62, 0.62, and 0.53, respectively. However, the AraBERT model, an Arabic version of the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT), performed best, obtaining an accuracy of 76.5% and an F1-score of 0.77. This model outperformed the previous state-of-the-art in this domain.

Irodion Evdoshvili’s life and literary works were complex, fascinating and contradictory. His first poem appeared in the newspaper “Kvali” in 1893 and since 1895 he was regularly published in literary magazine “Iberia” edited by Ilia Chavchavadze. The poet was acknowledged as a brave freedom-loving singer, who felt deeply for the suffering of the oppressed and tried to make his poetic word to be a beacon for men, a guide for liberation. Evdoshvili thereby not only echoed Ilia’s concept, but also expanded and strengthened it. This was also dictated by the voice of the time, the epoch. Irodion Evdoshvili began his literary activity in the early years of the twenties century, at a time when class tensions were at their peak, and the Social Democratic Party, a generation known as Mesame Dasi (third group) entered the arena of political struggle. His poems full of passionate pathos were sung and recited everywhere during the fiery days of the 1905 revolution: on the tribunes, on the barricades... Evdoshvili’s poem “To the Friends” (1895) especially stood out for its appeal to self-sacrifice in the name of freedom. It seemed well suited for the 1990s, capturing the revolutionary spirit of the time. This pathos distinguishes his poems “Song”, “To My Friends”, “Amirani”, “Fight Song” and others. Irodion Evdoshvili was arrested in 1909 and exiled to Vologda prison for three years, where he fell ill with tuberculosis. The poet expresses the sadness of separation from his homeland in the poem “Farewell to the Exile”, which is classified as a piece of poetrybelonging to the “Valletta” genre in Europe. Poems written on a marine theme are fascinating in Irodion Evdoshvili’s poetry. Georgian poetry of the early years of the twentieth century was not as rich in this sense. Evdoshvili’s poem “Georgian Mother” which addresses the theme of the First World War is also noteworthy. It is hard to find thematically similar poems in Georgian poetry. Many were frustrated by the 1905 revolution’s failure, the carnage, the tactics of battle, and the questionable direction of the revolutionary doctrine, particularly Irodion Evdoshvili.Things got worse with IIia Chavchavadze’s assassination, which was clearly inspired by the Social Democrats. For Evdoshvili, the murder of Ilia became a source of sadness and disappointment. This is the beginning of the most challenging creative period for Evdoshvili – awareness and revaluation of reality, which is vividly expressed in his poem “Diary” (1909). However, in this regard, especially important is the postcard secretly sent to Sandro Shanshiashvili from exile, in which he expresses the bitter mental pain of about the murder of Ilia and blames the Social Democrats for this. “This bullet hit me like a mournful sadness,” he wrote to his friend. Evdoshvili did not swing off the road which he had chosen, but in relation to the Social-Democrats, he clearly revised his ideology, and the “enthusiastic tribune” toward the end of his life suffered “mourning sadness.”

As a literary creation method, reminiscence is often encountered in Chinese and foreign literary works. In the West, there is the theory of "poetic reminiscence", however, the theoretical construction of Chinese reminiscence poetics has not been formed yet. The reason is that the current academic world does not treat reminiscence poetry as a type of poetry. As a matter of fact, Chinese recall poetry has always existed, and it has been spbud since the time of “The Book of Songs”. However, it was not until the Two Jin Dynasties that really formed the poems with the theme of reminiscence. In the Tang and Song dynasties, it was further expanded, which was reflected in the breakthrough of the reminiscence mode of the past and present, and appearance of the emergence of poems with whole reminiscence, at the same time, the suppoter of it expand itself from the poet to the “Ci.”In the modern period of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the emotional expression of reminiscence poetry has changed from sadness to broadness, which has continued to the present and contemporary times, only the traditional contrast mode of past and present has been replaced by narrative reminiscence. Based on the evolution of Chinese reminiscence poetry and the theory of western reminiscence poetics, it can be seen that the reminiscence poetry starts from a real thing we have seen, which gives rise to the reminiscence, then the poet expresses emotions in the traditional mode of past and present, joy and sorrow. Besides, there are also reminiscences of the whole content, mainly with image and narrative recall.

This research is a determined attempt to reveal the perception of DEATH in contemporary English poetry. It has been a focal point of lengthy discussions and numerous reflections, as DEATH is a universal experience that everybody regardless of nationality, gender and marital status, religious and political views will go through one day. All people are mortal by nature, but the idea of what happens after death to some extent depends on the culture or religion they belong to. Thus, the religious perception of DEATH as a stage of transformation that puts an end to earthly suffering and paves the way for an everlasting, abundant life in Heaven can be traced in modern English poetry. It helps people embrace their own mortality, make peace with the fluidity of time and inevitability of DEATH. Another finding shows that DEATH is often depicted as the end of the journey, the awareness of which, on the one hand, fills life with meaning and motivates people to act on their dreams, but on the other, causes deep regrets about missed opportunities and wasted time. There is no distinct fear of DEATH in the studied poetry, but rather the feeling of immense sadness over something the person hasn’t done or can’t change.

From the so-called «fin de siglo» to the thirties some of the Spanish poets relied on the folk song –and more specifically on the «cante jondo» or flamenco– to define an alleged Andalusian soul. In opposition to the cheerful, colourful and folkloric Andalusia described by poets like Reina and Rueda, there are other Modernist authors like Villaespesa, Sánchez Rodríguez, Juan Ramón Jiménez or Darío who refined the literary image of Andalusia from the distinctive notes of sadness or grief, thus initiating a thematic chain which from the twenties extended Lorca’s image of «Andalucía del llanto» under Neopopularism and the Vanguard movement. This trend continued in the next decade, when Cansinos Assens and the Caba brothers placed similar emphasis on tragic Andalusia, based on an analysis of the «cante jondo» in which metaphysical, social and historical aspects were mixed. This paper aims to examine some of the key aspects of the relation between the sadness of the Andalusian song and Spanish poetry in the first third of the 20th century.

It is viewed that poets and poetry readers mostly come to a disappointing idea from the community’s belief proclaiming poetry’s death and that poetry is in vain and it is a waste of time. Readers and poets keep wondering intensely that, if so, then how do their souls still recall the inspirational world of imagination? How do their souls travel into an imaginative world of thoughts creating a piece of art through some words that are of daily life experiences? William Wordsworth's poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud”, for instance, connects humanity and nature to make life more meaningful. The natural world provides human beings bliss, enabling them to overcome life challenges such as loneliness. The poet obtains happiness from the dancing daffodils and overcomes his loneliness. This togetherness between humanity and the natural world aids the poet in overcoming the challenges. The poem uses poetic devices, especially figurative language, that demands the readers to recall their experiences to understand them better. Like Campbell, Wordsworth has a positive view of the natural world because it enables the speaker to deal with sadness. Therefore, artists should acknowledge the significance of discourses while writing poems. The community, in addition to that,is called to reconsider their beliefs and observe that it is through poetry that our souls get nourished and call our daily life experiences. This study examines former beliefs to prove that poetry is the experience that keeps our souls alive.

This study aimed to explore the efficacy of silence speech in poetic texts, specifically in the discourse of prison poetry during the Abbasid era, and its role in effectively conveying the poets' messages. We can say that this research tries to present a semiotic stylistic analysis of silence speech and its morphological indicators, utilizing selected case studies from prison poetry in the Abbasid era until the end of the fourth century AH, which represents a period rich in manifestations of silence stemming from emotions such as sadness, frustration, and despair, as well as the magnitude of suffering and persecution. The findings demonstrated that silence is an influential means for conveying the message wanted by prison poets in the 4th century, as well as its efficiency for conveying unwritten, facilitated through implicit linguistic signs and their associated meanings and semantics. The results also highlighted the significant role of silence speech in both affective and semantic dimensions, contributing prominently to the construction and coherence of the poetic text.

The metaphors embellish the poetic lines with magical brilliance, and they glitter with astute meaning and message. Diction plays a very emphatic role in discerning poet’s leanings. Reflection, perception and attachment are interwoven in diction so inextricably that they turn poet’s mouthpiece, and roar and rave with perfect resonance to poetic experiences. Poetry elicits emotions, and emotion is a fundamental component of human ontogeny. Although neuroaesthetics is a rapidly developing field of research, few studies focus on poetry, and none address its different modalities of fruition (MOF) of universal cultural heritage works, such as the Divina Commedia (DC) poem. Moreover, alexithymia (AX) resulted in being a psychological risk factor during the Covid-19 pandemic. The present study aims to investigate the emotional response to poetry excerpts from different cantica (Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso) of DC with the dual objective of assessing the impact of both the structure of the poem and MOF and that of the characteristics of the acting voice in experts and non-experts, also considering AX. Online emotion facial coding biosignal (BS) techniques, self-reported and psychometric measures were applied to 131 literary (LS) and scientific (SS) university students. BS results show that LS globally manifest more JOY than SS in both reading and listening MOF and more FEAR towards Inferno. Furthermore, LS and SS present different results regarding NEUTRAL emotion about acting voice. AX influences listening in NEUTRAL and SURPRISE expressions. DC’s structure affects DISGUST and SADNESS during listening, regardless of participant characteristics. PLEASANTNESS varies according to DC’s structure and the acting voice, as well as AROUSAL, which is also correlated with AX. Results are discussed in light of recent findings in affective neuroscience and neuroaesthetics, suggesting the critical role of poetry and listening in supporting human emotional processing.
