Recently needs of extra-large floor type boring machines have been increased according to super-sizing ships and aircrafts including wind turbines. The rotary table of a supersize floor type boring machine to be developed in this study can support ultra heavyweight workpieces more than 200 tons and be rotated with a speed of 300 deg/min. Therefore, it is designed as a high rigidity structure and requires high rigidity bearings. Thus, hydrostatic bearings are used in this rotary table. For optimizing the rotary table of a floor type boring machine as a lightweight and high rigidity structure, an optimized design is performed using an FEM structural analysis and a genetic algorithm (GA). As a result, it represents a decrease in weight 22.2% and an increases in rigidity 8.56% compared to that of the conventional method based on empirical design.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a novel numerical approach to analyze the static performance of aerostatic thrust bearings by adopting a general finite element method calculation program. Design/methodology/approach The characteristics of a gas film are described by the Reynolds equation and the pressure distribution is solved using the finite element method. A root iterative method is proposed to meet the requirement of the mass-conservation law because multiple pocketed orifice-type restrictors are treated as a series of special boundary conditions. Findings The static performance of a rotary table using aerostatic thrust bearings, including load carrying capacity and stiffness, can be predicted by the method; moreover, it can be further confirmed through experiments on the designed rotary table. Originality/value The method combining the finite element and root iterative methods is highly accurate and has a low time-cost for analyzing aerostatic thrust bearings with multiple pocketed orifice-type restrictors.

According to the increasing needs of rotary table and spindle to satisfy high-precision machining requirements, the accuracy of rotary table and spindle becomes an important issue due to the error averaging effect of hydrostatic thrust bearing. The objective of this study is to research a methodology to guide the precision design of hydrostatic thrust bearing in rotary table and spindle. A run-out error model based on error averaging effect is established using the Reynolds equation, pressure boundary conditions, flux continuity equations of pad and dynamic equations of shaft. The axial run-out error and angular error are calculated considering perpendicularity error and flatness error of the components. The simulation results show that the two perpendicularity errors between axis line and thrust bearing bushing surface have same direction, and the axial run-out error could reach to the maximum values. Also, the flatness error of thrust bearing bushing surface has a big influence on axial run-out error. Following the outcomes, the precision design of hydrostatic thrust bearing was conducted. The axial run-out errors of rotary table and spindle with hydrostatic thrust bearing were experimentally studied, and the results have good coherence to the simulation data. The run-out error model is demonstrated to be an effective approach to guide the precision design of hydrostatic thrust bearing in other rotary tables and spindles.

The accurate measurement and control of center of mass (CM) in mass properties for satellite attitude control are the most important. In order to accurately measure CM, this paper describes a new type of CM measuring instruments which are particularly recommended for determining mass properties of rockets, satellite and ballistic objects. A spherical air-bearing supports a precision rotary table and acts as a frictionless pivot axis for measuring unbalance moments due to the displacement of the test part CM relative to the central axis of the bearing. This paper emphasizes the research on reasons and laws of the load table CM offset caused by the elastic deformation, and according to curve theory of thin plates derives the formulary for the element center of mass displacement of the finite element and for the platform structure center of mass elastic displacement, and calculates the CM elasticity offset and the unbalance moment caused by the deformation of loaded table. The research results provide bases for the structure design of rotary tables.

There is a compelling need for development of a surface grinding machine for 450mm diameter silicon-wafers. The authors have developed a new surface grinding machine for the large scale silicon-wafers. The machine has a rotary work table equipped with a constant-flow hydrostatic water bearing. The table system has to attain high static stiffness to achieve higher loop stiffness. This paper investigates static performances of the rotary table by numerical computation. The obtained results are compared with the experimental ones. Accordingly, it is verified that the developed rotary table has sufficient static performances for the large scale silicon-wafer grinding machine.

A model machine of multifunctional form and position measurement instrument controlled by a personal computer has been successfully developed. The instrument is designed in rotary table type with a high precision air bearing and the radial rotation error of the rotary table is 0.08 μm. A high precision vertical sliding carriage supported by an air bearing is used to the instrument, the straight motion error of the carriage is 0.3 μm/200 mm and the parallelism error of the motion of the carriage relative to the rotation axis of the rotary table is 0.4 μm/200 mm. The mathematical models have been established for assessing planar and spatial straightness, flatness, roundness, cylindricity, and coaxality errors. By radial deviation measurement, the instrument can accurately measure form and position errors of such workpieces as shafts, round plates and sleeves of medium or small dimensions with the tolerance grades mostly used in industry.

The deformation of constant flow and closed type hydrostatic rotary table of heavy duty CNC machine tool has a great influence on the film thickness because of its large diameter, high load-bearing. According to the circular plate deformation theory of elasticity, differential equations of worktable deformation are derived in the simply supported conditions when bearing uniform force of different locations. Displacement curves of worktable are obtained. Force and deformation weaknesses of hydrostatic rotary table are found, which can provide theory basis for supporting location of heavy workpiece machining and whether oil film is failure or not.

An investigation of performance response of two types of bearings such as Cylindrical Roller Bearing and bush bearing on evaporative cooler driven by DC motor of 1500 r.p.m, through studying many parameters like vibration response, temperature raise, humidity, sound level and total performance. high quality 3D positions X, Y and Z, vibration sensors type (ADXL335 accelerometers) with Arduino mega 2560 that interfaced with Lab-View program were used to measure changes in vibration amplitude and frequency. Two temperature sensors of type (LM35) were used to investigate the temperature raise in the bearings also with Arduino mega 2560 that interfaced with Lab-View program. For humidity a sensor of type DHT22 was used, also, a portable device was used to measure electricity consumption, rotary speed and sound level in the bearings of evaporative cooler. By replacing bearings all the parameters above wear measured then a comparison between them were made to find the best performance and operation of these bearings. The obtained results from the experimental work have clarified and explained by tables and figures. It has been found that the vibration of evaporative cooler in X, Y and Z-directions increased by using two cylindrical roller bearings than using two of bush bearings. The temperature of cylindrical roller bearings increased When running the evaporative cooler more than bush bearings. the noise of Evaporative Cooler by using both types of Bearings was almost same but with a little Reduce by using cylindrical roller Bearings. Which means the Evaporative Cooler has better Performance by using bush bearings than using cylindrical roller bearings.

SKZT3500 NC rotary table adopts constant-current hydrostatic bearing and unloading guide two sets of hydraulic system. Aiming at the characteristics of two sets of hydraulic system, this paper deduces the constant-current hydrostatic bearing static stiffness formula. Then, the theory and algorithm of BP neural network were applied to predict the constant-current hydrostatic bearing static stiffness, based on experimental measurements in a physical prototype and neural network toolbox of MATLAB. Testing results show that BP neural network can accurately forecast the constant-current hydrostatic bearing of the static stiffness.

This paper firstly presented a mathematical model of the radial stiffness of a wire race ball bearing in a certain type of three-axis aircraft simulating rotary table. The Stribeck theory was used to determine the radial load distribution of the bearing. By treating the contact between balls and wires as equivalent compression springs, the relationships of these springs in series and parallel can be obtained to solve the total radial stiffness. Experiments verified the theoretical results of the radial stiffness. This work provides an effective support for further studying the complex contact dynamics of the wire race ball bearing in the future.

In this study, sulfuric acid leaching and gravity shaking-table separation by shaking a table are used to extract lead and zinc from a Pb-Zn oxidizing roasting cinder. The oxidizing roasting cinder—containing 16.9% Pb, 30.5% Zn, 10.3% Fe and 25.1% S—was obtained from a Pb-Zn sulfide ore in the Hanyuan area of China by a flotation-rotary kiln oxidizing roasting process. Anglesite and lead oxide were the main Pb-bearing minerals, while zinc sulfate, zinc oxide and zinc ferrite were the main Zn-bearing minerals. The results show that a part of lead contained in lead oxide is transformed to anglesite, and a 3PbO·PbSO4·H2O-dominated new lead mineral phase after acid leaching. A zinc leaching efficiency of 96.7% was obtained under the leaching conditions used: a leaching temperature of 55 °C; a leaching time of 90 min; a sulfuric acid dosage of 20%; a sulfurous acid dosage of 4%; a cinder particle size of <0.3 mm; and a solid-liquid ratio of R = 1:4. After the gravity shaking-table separation, a lead concentrate with 50.2% Pb, 2.33% Zn and lead recovery of 86.0% was produced. The main chemical compounds in leaching residue are anglesite, 3PbO·PbSO4·H2O, SiO2 and ZnFe2O4, while the main chemical compounds in lead concentrate are anglesite, 3PbO·PbSO4·H2O and SiO2.

A new mathematical model on the stiffness matrix of the bearing was established by using the non-conforming Hertz contact theory. In this model, the case of compound load and the coupling effects was considered. The numerical arithmetic to estimate the displacements under the compound loads is discussed. As a sample, a wire race ball bearing used in a certain type of three-axis aircraft simulating rotary table was provided. The curves of axial stiffness and radial stiffness were obtained in MATLAB. The experimental system for measuring the stiffness was built. The experimental results verify the validity of the theoretical model.

Blower 22K-102 FDF berfungsi untuk menggerakkan atau menghasilkan udara sekunder yang bertekanan tinggi, udara yang diambil FDF diambil dari luar, dalam perjalanan menuju boiler, udara tersebut dinaikkan suhunya oleh secondary air heater (pemanas udara sekunder) agar proses pembakaran bisa terjadi di boiler. Dalam proses perawatannya, kemudian dilakukan inspeksi terhadap blower 22K-102 FDF selama 2 minggu sekali, pada tanggal 21 januari 2016 terjadi kenaikan trending vibrasi pada bearing outboard yang diukur secara axial. Melalui metode defect frequency, yaitu dengan cara menggunakan data trending vibrasi dan spectrum vibrasi, kemudian dilakukan perhitungan terhadap tiap bagian sebuah bearing yaitu outerrace, innerrace, train, dan ball bearing, maka didapatkan hasil frekuensi dari metode tersebut, kemudian dilakukan plotting pada spektrum vibrasi, dari keempat bagian bearing tidak terdapat masalah kerusakan dikarenakan frekuensi kurang dari 1 kali RPM dan tidak menyentuh puncak RPM pada spektrum vibrasi, dimana pada tabel 1 dijelaskan bahwa hal tersebut dikarenakan mechanical looseness, dan kemudian dilakukan proses perbaikan yaitu tightening locknut dimana bagian ulir dari bearing dikencangkan, proses ini pada awalnya dilakukan pengecekan clearance pada bearing dengan feeler, dan didapatkan clearance bearing yaitu sebesar 0,2 mm, hasil ini tidak sesuai dari standar clearance bearing yaitu sebesar 0,05 mm, maka dilakukan proses tightening locknut dan regreasing pada bagian bearing, dan didapatkan clearance yang sesuai standar bearing yaitu sebesar 0,05 mm, maka dilakukan running dan didapatkan vibrasi pada bearing sudah dibawah alert high sebesar 4,53 mm/s rms. Maka dari itu dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa bearing tidak terjadi kerusakan pada tiap bagiannya dan terjadi kelonggaran pada clearance bearing dan vibrasi pada bearing kembali normal

Magnetic levitation technology shows promise for realizing multiple degrees of free precision motion for modern manufacturing, as the bearing and guiding parts are not used. However, motion decoupling in a magnetically levitated (maglev) system is difficult because it is hard to derive accurate magnetic force and a torque model considering the translation and rotation in all axes. In this work, a magnetic levitation rotary table that has the potential to realize unlimited rotation around the vertical axis and a relatively long stroke in the horizontal plane is proposed and analyzed, and the corresponding real-time numerical decoupling method is presented. The numerical magnetic force and torque model solves the current to magnetic force and torque transformation matrix, and the matrix is used to allocate the exact current in each coil phase to produce the required motion in the magnetically levitated (maglev) system. Next, utilizing a high-level synthesis tool and hardware description language, the proposed motion-decoupling module is implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA). To realize real-time computation, a pipelined program architecture and finite-state machine with a strict timing sequence are employed for maximum data throughput. In the last decoupling module of the maglev system, the delay for each sampling point is less than 200 μ s. To illustrate and evaluate real-time solutions, they are presented via the DAC adapter on the oscilloscope and stored in the SD card. The error ratios of the force and torque results solved by the numerical wrench model were less than 5 % and 10 % using the solutions from the boundary element method (BEM) program package RadiaTM as a benchmark.

This research was conducted in an international company engaged in iron and steel products manufacturing industries. One of the equipment that is often damaged is a hot roller table machine in the furnace section mill unit. The availability results obtained in hot roller table equipment is 96.571% and is still below the company standard which is set at 98%. Therefore, we need an analysis of the root causes of the problem and search for the best solution to fix the existing problem by applying the method of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). FMEA is a method that can systematically and structurally analyze and identify the consequences of a system or process failure, and also reduce or analyze the probability of failure. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the level of damage and its causes with the application of the FMEA method. Based on the pareto diagram the damage to the hot roller table machine, it was found that the highest frequency of damage was in the rotary coupling with a down time percentage of 26.9%. From the FMEA Analysis, two components that have very high RPN values are categorized as potential severit i.e. bearing as the first with an RPN value of 392 and the second is a seal ring with an RPN value of 294. The two components are the main priority for repair of the furnace section. mill, especially for machine and human aspects.

Key design parameters include land width, nominal oil film thickness, and perpendicularity error between mandrel and thrust plates. Oil supply pressure, external load, and rotation load are the considered operational conditions. Predictions of the induced effect are made by introducing oil film clearance function, governing equations, flow rate continuity equations, and dynamic equations of mandrel to model axial rotation error and angular motion error. The results show that the axial rotation accuracy increased, as land width (larger than 8 mm), nominal oil film thickness, and oil supply pressure increased, but there was little impact on angular motion error. The axial rotation error and angular motion error increased with the increase in the external load and rotation speed. Confirmation of the perpendicularity error has been achieved, in this study, by conducting experiments, using ultra-precision measuring machine. In addition, axial rotation error was tested on a hydrostatic rotary table and compared with the simulation results to check the validity of the proposed method. The results provide useful design guidelines and operation advice for hydrostatic thrust bearing in high-precision machine tools.

Turntable is the main bearing component of truck crane, its structural-load-carrying capacity influences the operational capability directly. This paper adopts the HyperWorks software to make topology optimization for the turntable structure of QY70G truck crane, and carry out the finite element analysis and comparison for the models before and after optimization, which provides an effective method to improve the turntable structure of truck crane. Turntable is one of the important components of truck crane,it bears hoist boom、lifting、luffing mechanism and bob-weight and so on, it is the transfer center of truck crane when it works, the structure will directly affect the lifting performance of the machine. But, the rotary table structure design is affected by the vehicle shape size and installation and space layout. The traditional design method is based the experience of analogy to check by finite element software, it is difficult to get the design scheme which meets the requirements given above and own better strength and stiffness, it also have the disadvantages of long design cycle and large workload. This article is based on the finite element method and structural topology optimal idea, by means of HyperWorks-OptiStruct, makes finite element analysis for the turntable structure of certain QY70G truck crane, and carries on the structural topology in the condition of setted installation location and space, in order to obtain the ideal design plan.

The appraisal well Hovea–2, drilled in July 2002, was the first well in the onshore Perth Basin to discover commercial volumes of gas in sandstone reservoirs of the Artinskian (Early Permian) High Cliff Sandstone sealed beneath basal shales and siltstones of the Irwin River Coal Measures. A drill stem test in this formation, in the interval 2,370–419 mMDRT (measured depth below rotary table), flowed gas to surface at 16.5 MMcfd. Thereafter, the High Cliff Sandstone became an important play for exploration in the basin; however, no additional discoveries have been made in this reservoir, even though it has been tested in another seven wells (Jingemia–1, Eremia–1, Kunzia–1, Corybas–1, Yardarino–6, Hakia–2 and Bunjong–1).In Corybas–1, drilled in 2005, this reservoir was found to be water bearing, but an 18 m core was taken within the topmost High Cliff Sandstone. This core provided important insights into the fluvial depositional environment of these sands. Importantly, porosity and permeability are highly variable within the reservoir, with some coarser grained beds retaining anomalously high porosity and permeability due to the coating of constituent quartz grains by illite/smectite that inhibited late stage quartz overgrowth. Study of this core along with core from overlying Irwin River Coal Measures indicates that there may be some facies control on the presence of the grain-coating clays in the High Cliff Sandstone, and that the fluvial to tidal facies are more likely to be an effective petroleum reservoir than the overlying fluvial/alluvial facies. This reservoir is the primary objective in the upcoming exploration wells Beharra Springs Deep–1 and Drakea–1, to be drilled in 2007.

An approximate accuracy model in five degrees of freedom has been built to predict the motion accuracy of hydrostatic rotary tables with any recess number. It is found that the amplitudes of total averaging coefficients depend on the basic averaging coefficients, while the frequencies of total averaging coefficients depend on the layout averaging coefficients. The motion accuracies of journal bearing and those of the two thrust bearings are independent of each other. For the hydrostatic rotary table with any recess number [Formula: see text], the harmonic waves of shaft or thrust plates with wave numbers [Formula: see text] = [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] have a major impact on the radial or tilt motion accuracies, respectively. The harmonic waves of thrust plates with wave number [Formula: see text] = [Formula: see text] have a major impact on the axial motion accuracy. And [Formula: see text] is a non-negative integer. Increasing recess number can improve motion accuracy since the number of harmonic waves of shaft and thrust plates affecting error motions can be reduced. The recommended recess number 6 may be a compromise between structural complexity and motion accuracy. Both the theoretical and experimental studies show that, for the hydrostatic rotary table with recess number 4, the radial run-out is mainly resulted from the third components of shaft roundness errors which is the selective performance of the recess number, while the axial run-out is generally much smaller than the radial run-out. The theory discussed is very important for design of hydrostatic rotary table used widely in precision machine tools.

Angled-surface slot-compensated hydrostatic bearing (ASHB) is a novel type of hydrostatic bearing which is potentially applicable in rotary tables. However, it has not been sufficiently studied in available literature. In this paper the mathematic model for ASHB was built and solved by the finite element method (FEM). The influence of semicone angle on static and dynamic performance characteristics was theoretically investigated. The simulated results have been compared with that of the traditional fixed slot-compensated hydrostatic bearing (FSHB) on the same geometric and operating conditions. Results show that the performance of ASHB is better than that of FSHB; the studied bearing with a large semicone angle is superior in power consumption; the clearance width ratio of the restricting gap to the bearing gap has an obvious effect on bearing performance.
