Considérant les impacts climatiques et sanitaires majeurs des particules fines, ce travail a étudié leur composition chimique sur 13 sites français de 2015 à 2021. L’aérosol organique (AO) prédomine, avec des augmentations en hiver (chauffage résidentiel), et en été (formation d’aérosols organiques secondaires). Le nitrate d’ammonium, polluant secondaire lui aussi issu des combustions et de l’agriculture, domine en particulier dans le nord lors des épisodes de pollution printaniers.Les sources principales de l’Ao sont liées principalement aux émissions du trafic et de la combustion de biomasse. D’autres sont spécifiques à certains sites (activités de cuisson, industrie, émissions des navires). Les facteurs oxygénés dominent l’AO, suggérant des processus de vieillissement et de formation secondaire. Ces résultats peuvent orienter les politiques visant à améliorer la qualité de l’air, contribuer à améliorer la précision des modèles et servir à de futures études épidémiologiques
Considering the major climatic and health impacts of fine particulate matter, this work studies their chemical composition at 13 French sites from 2015 to 2021. Organic aerosols (OA) predominate, with increases in winter (residential heating emissions) and summer (formation of secondary organic aerosols). Ammonium nitrate, also a secondary pollutant from combustion and agriculture, dominates during springtime pollution episodes, particularly in the north.The main sources of OA are traffic emissions and biomass combustion. Others are site-specific (cooking activities, industry, ship emissions). Oxygenated factors dominate OA, suggesting aging and secondary formation processes. These results can guide policies aimed at improving air quality, help improve the model accuracy and inform future epidemiological studies)

The Western Transportation Institute (WTI) was engaged by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to investigate the performance of various bridge deck rehabilitation surface treatments. This study requires that full-scale reinforced bridge deck slabs be tested in a laboratory environment. The deck slabs are to be tested by applying repeated passes of a rolling wheel load to damage the slabs to certain levels of deterioration. The slabs will be mounted in a frame for testing to impose specific support constraints necessary to generate realistic box girder bridge behavior. The intent of the present study was to design the panel support frame and validate that it provides the required restraint conditions needed for testing as well as to determine if it will be possible to generate the damage required in future deck slabs in a realistic time frame. This validation was accomplished by performing an experimental study in which a sample test slab was loaded to failure in one of the bays of the support frame. The slab was loaded with a stationary hydraulic jack over a contact area resembling that of a standard dual tire footprint. In addition, the finite element modeling software, ANSYS, was used to model the laboratory test to aid in interpreting the experimental results. The results from the laboratory test and the related findings from the finite element model were presented in terms of cracking behavior, deflection histories, strain measurements in the steel reinforcement, ultimate capacity, and mode of failure. The results were used in conjunction with the finite element model to validate the performance of the support frame. It was determined that the support frame provides the restraint conditions needed to create the in-service stress conditions of interest in the bridge deck slabs. A fatigue life model that was developed by past researchers was used to assess the expected performance of the deck specimens under the proposed rolling wheel loads.

A small cryptic plasmid (2.16-kb), designated pML, was isolated from the moderately halophilic methanogen Methanohalophilus mahii SLP. Sequence analysis indicated the possibility of the two open reading frames (ORF 1, ORF 2). The predicted protein of ORF1 showed 34 % sequence identity to a putative replication protein (Rep) of pGRB1 from Halobacterium spp. Both putative proteins contained three sequence motifs (motif1, motif 2 and motif 3) that conserved in Rep proteins of rolling circle replication (RCR) mechanism. Based on the numbers of Tyr residues in the motif 3, pML was belonged to superfamily I of RCR. Moreover, two inverted repeated sequences around the nick site (TGATA) within the double strand origin (DSO) of plasmids and phages that replicate via a RCR mechanism.And the nicking site of pML was situated at loop region of IRI stem-loop structure. we also find single strand origin (SSO) near orf1. ss DNA intermediates were confirmed by Southern analysis. Based on above analyses, plasmid pML from the halophilic methanogen was proposed to replicate via a RCR mechanism and is the first RC plasmid discussed in methanogenic archaea. Predicted ORF1 encoded a putative 20.8 kDa protein consists of 176 amino acids. Further step, the orf1 was amplified with PCR technique with the additional restriction enzyme cut sites of Nde I and Xho I. The orf1 was further subcloned into the expression vector pET21b. After IPTG induction of the T7 lac promoter of pET21b, a 22 kDa polypeptide was heavily accumulated only at strain with orf1 gene. Next, study the activities of its encoded polypeptide in vitro will help us to understand RCR more.

Rolling mill automation systems started nearly in 1960s when the servo system was introduced to the metal forming industry. During the past decades, hydraulic control systems have found increased applications in rolling mills in an attempt to cope with the harsh environment conditions and the high power demands for metal forming. During the rolling process, both rolling speed and rolling load must be controlled in accordance with the independently varying torque that disturbs the control system. This project is concerned with the development of an electro-hydraulic control system in order to control both rolling speed and rolling load with minimum number of components. A mathematical model of a pressure compensator is constructed and a simulation program based on Matlab-Simulink is developed to simulate both the static and the dynamic characteristics of the entire control system. The control system has very good flexibilities to various rolling mill requirements, and it is very convenient to adjust due to different variable load demands. An experimental setup composed of real time control software and a hydraulic test bed is built in order to validate the compensator mathematical model and verify the control system simulation results. The simulation and experimental results are compared and discussed.

O orçamento, definido como uma forma qualitativa de apresentar o plano de ação da empresa (Horngren et al., 2012), revelou-se uma das principais ferramentas no âmbito controlo de gestão (Hansen et al. 2003). De entre as suas principais funções destacam-se o planeamento, a avaliação de desempenho, a análise de impactos financeiros e de desvios, e a delegação de responsabilidades e apoio na tomada de decisão (Anthony e Govindarajan2004; Bergstrand 2009). Nos últimos anos vários autores têm criticado esta ferramenta pela sua rigidez e inflexibilidade de adaptação às exigências e dinâmicas da envolvente (Leon, Rafferty e Herchel, 2012). A tomada de decisão centralizada, o foco em indicadores financeiros, nomeadamente em custos históricos, bem como a desmotivação dos gestores (Hope e Fraser 2003), levam alguns autores, como Wallander (1999) a concluir que esta ferramenta deve ser abandonada. O objetivo deste estudo consiste em compreender como o aumento da instabilidade da envolvente direcionou a empresa para uma adaptação dinâmica do seu sistema de controlo de gestão, respondendo às exigências de uma envolvente de dinâmica crescente. Para tal realizaram-se 3 entrevistas a 3 elementos da empresa, e analisaram-se relatórios relevantes para a investigação. Através da análise do caso verifica-se que a empresa, assumiu desde o início da sua atividade alguns dos princípios fundamentais do Beyond Budgeting. Estes foram sendo complementados, nesta fase de adaptação, com ferramentas como o Benchmarking, Orçamentos Dinâmicos e Economic Value Aded.
The budget, defined as a qualitative way of presenting the company's action plan (Horngren et al., 2012), has proved to be one of the main tools in management control (Hansen et al., 2003). Its main functions include planning, performance evaluation, financial analysis and deviation impacts, delegation of responsibilities and support in decision-making (Anthony and Govindarajan 2004; Bergstrand 2009). In recent years, several authors have criticized this tool for its stiffness and inflexibility of adaptation to the demands and dynamics of the environment (Leon, Rafferty and Herchel, 2012). Centralized decision-making, focus on financial indicators, particularly in historical costs, as well as manager's demotivation (Hope and Fraser 2003) lead some authors, such as Wallander (1999) to conclude that this tool should be abandoned. The main objective of this study is to understand how the increased instability of the environment directed the company to a dynamic adaptation of its management control system in order to respond better to the demands of an increasingly dynamic environment. To this end, 3 interviews were conducted with 3 company members, as well as the analysis of relevant reports to the investigation. Through the analysis of the case we verify that the company assumed, from the beginning of its activity, some of the fundamental principles of Beyond Budgeting. Since then, these have been complemented, at this stage adaptation, with tools such as Benchmarking, Dynamic Budgets, Economic Value Added.

The effect of strain path change during cold rolling and subsequent annealing on the evolution of microstructure, texture and hardness properties of high purity nickel (~99.7%, average size ~ 36 μm) has been studied in the present work. Strain path change is achieved by employing two different rolling routes, namely, straight cold rolling (SCR) and cross cold rolling (CCR) in the present investigation. The rolling direction is kept constant throughout the deformation process in SCR route but during CCR processing the rolling direction (RD) and the transverse direction (TD) are mutually interchanged in every consecutive pass by rotating the sample around the normal direction (ND). Nickel sheets were deformed up to 90% reduction in thickness using the above two processing routes.

The effect of strain path change during heavy cold rolling on the development of texture, microstructure and hardness properties is investigated in different aluminum alloys. For this purpose 99.99% aluminum (4N-Al) and Al-2.5%Mg alloy was deformed up to 90% reduction in thickness by two different rolling routes, namely, unidirectional cold rolling (UCR) and cross cold rolling (CCR). In the CCR route the specimens are rotated by 90° around the normal direction (ND) so that the transverse direction (TD) of the previous pass became the rolling direction (RD) of the present pass. The evolution of microstructure, texture was subsequently studied by X-ray and electron back scatter diffraction (XRD and EBSD, respectively). Evolution of a lamellar type deformation microstructure is observed in all materials irrespective of the processing route. The UCR processed 4N-Al shows much pronounced dynamic recovery as compared to the CCR processed materials the reasons for which need to be investigated further. In sharp contrast, the CCR processing does not affect the microstructural development of Al-Mg alloy significantly as established by the values of the various structural parameters of differently processed heavily deformed materials. This seems to originate from the much restricted dynamic recovery in Al-Mg alloy due to the presence of Mg as solute.

The effect of strain path change during cold rolling on the evolution of microstructure, texture and hardness properties of high purity nickel (~99.7%) with extremely coarse starting grain size (~800 μm) has been studied in the present work. For this purpose two different rolling routes, namely, unidirectional cold rolling (UCR) and cross cold rolling (CCR) are investigated in the present work. The rolling direction is kept constant throughout the deformation process in UCR route but during CCR processing the rolling direction and the transverse direction are mutually interchanged in every consecutive pass by rotating the material around the normal direction. Nickel sheets were deformed up to 90% reduction in thickness using the two processing routes. UCR processing route results in a microstructure having both lamellar and highly fragmented regions and pure metal or copper type deformation texture having strong presence of S, Cu and Bs orientations. The CCR processed microstructure also appears to be fragmented and locally sheared regions could be easily identified. The texture of CCR processed material is characterized by strong presence of the S component. The two processing routes are found to affect the hardness properties significantly. The hardness of UCR processed materials increases with increasing thickness reduction due to cold rolling which may be explained by the usual strain-hardening behavior. In contrast, the hardness of CCR processed material increases up to 65% deformation and thereafter it is found to decrease.
