Der volle Inhalt der QuelleRobotic Process Automation (RPA) is a wide variety of approaches and technical solutions that work as a support to automate repetitive tasks. In 2017, a new legislation was enacted in Sweden that made it possible for the public sector to automate decision support. This in turn led to more and more Swedish municipalities starting to implement RPA. Of Sweden's total 290 municipalities, 259 of them are classified as smaller municipalities. For these smaller municipalities, it is important to balance between having enough staff to manage both the finances and the tasks. In addition, several municipalities in Sweden cannot afford to hire new staff due to the current pandemic. Most of these smaller municipalities have not yet begun theirwork with RPA. The study examines six smaller Swedish municipalities that have implemented RPA with theaim of finding out the effects and changes that have arisen after their implementation. This has been done through semi-structured interviews to find out how their implementation went, what processes and in which areas they have chosen to automate and what they have seen for effects of this. Thematic analysis was then used to find patterns and themes in the interviews to present a common overall result with rich descriptions. This result showed successful implementations where the municipalities have come far different in their work and reached different levels of success, but where all through RPA have freed up time for their employees. These six municipalities also have a few processes to automate in the planning stage for the coming year.T he conclusion of this study shows that RPA gives good results for the smaller municipalities that have chosen to invest resources in it. In the absence of other ways to solve the current problems, RPA is a good method for balancing finance and the growing challenges for a smallermunicipality.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn today’s society companies increasingly strive to automate and streamline their business processes. As a result of the digital transformation of our society, new opportunities and technological innovations are constantly being created with the purpose of supporting the automation of processes by doing things in a completely new way and by utilizing modern information and computer technology. This study examines the new technological innovation in the form of a software technology called RPA (robotic process automation) and its ability to automate tasks that are usually performed manually. The study aims to highlight the challenges that are likely to arise and what the developer should consider when developing RPA within an operational process, which is presented in the form of recommendations. The method of the study is based on an exploratory approach, a qualitative data collection and an abductive approach, since a phenomenon is examined and analyzed using theory related to RPA and the automation of business processes. The challenges and recommendations that have been developed are based on results from a number of meeting sessions in the form of semi-structured workshops based on the four stages of the development process and on the development group's own experiences combined with the theory used as a basis for an analysis. The most important result of the study is that the process should be carefully mapped out and optimized before the development begins and that a continuous follow-up with the end user should be carried out in order to detect any changes in requirements. Someone within the development group should, in addition to a technical perspective, also possess a perspective related to processes and basic knowledge of business development in general.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleDigitalization and automation has increasingly been connected to arguments about changes in working life. This study address digitalization and automation in practice by focusing on HR-practitioners and the organizing of automation in HR units at larger organizations in Sweden. Despite several reportsarguing thatautomation technologies will changeHuman Resources, there arefew empirical studies about this transformation. Therefore the aim of the study isto get a deeper understanding of digitalization and automationin HR-units at larger organizations from a Human Resource Development perspective. By using a organizing and situated learning perspective and theories about boundaries and boundary roles, the study have focused on learning and change processes with automation. The study hasa qualitative approach and used a cross-sectional design. Seven semi-structured interviews have been conducted with HR-practitioners from six different organizations. The findings showed that there are contextual differences between the HR departments regarding how they have organized for automation, which have created different conditionsfor change and learning. A key finding is the need for a boundary role between the HR and IT department. The study also showsthat automation does not imply a change in work and competence for all HR-personnel, as there were only a few persons whichjob had been affected by automation.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleRPA (Robotic Process Automation) is a technology for automating repetitive tasks within businesses with the aim of streamlining work. Previous research, however, show that 30–50% of all RPA projects fail. Research also shows that there are challenges associated with it’s implementation. The aim of this study is to examine how RPA suppliers work to implement RPA and highlight the challenges that may arise during the implementation of RPA from the perspective of customers and suppliers. The research questions are answered by conducting a literature study and qualitative semi-structured interviews with RPA suppliers and people from companies that have implemented RPA. Based on the suppliers' answers, a process model of the working procedure was created. The process model includes five steps: Mapping, Proof of Concept, Development, Testing, and Implementation. Furthermore, the results show that the challenges lie in creating an understanding of RPA, identifying appropriate business processes, concerns among employees and that the robot lacks cognitive skills. Finally, the study shows that focus should be placed on preparatory work and that communication is a key factor for success.

Technology is constantly evolving, with new ways of simplifying daily human activities, contributing to the evolution of the business. The impact of this evolution is visible in all business areas, even in the audit area, where the greatest resource for the effective performance of the function, is the human resource. This thesis uses a new technology called Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and studies the possibility of developing and implementing a prototype, applied to a specific sub-process of the audit process, with the purpose of combining Artificial Intelligence with RPA. Having this in mind, the project has the following objectives: i) propose an RPA implementation approach in the audit process (Framework); ii) validate and analyse the proposed methodology using the UIPATH tool; and iii) study the impact of implementing this tool at different levels, from development to post-implementation. In order to achieve this, the project uses a Design Science in Information Systems Research methodology that aims to solve an issue related to repetitive and standard tasks executed by human resources in an organisation, towards more productive, value-oriented and cognitive tasks. Furthermore, it develops a prototype for a sub-process selected together with the said company, using UiPath (RPAs development tool), according to a framework developed by us. This study concludes that it is possible to effectively develop and implement an RPA in the audit process resorting to an external source, and without changes to previous procedures and documentation.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe digital development in the society has resulted in new ways of working in order for companies to improve and streamline their processes. Earlier, organizations have implemented system solutions to increase the efficiency in their operations, but along with the digital development the phenomenon Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has evolved. RPA aims to streamline the operations of companies through processes automation. The problem area that has been identified through review of earlier literature is about what is specific for activities carried out at RPA implementations and what is characterizing these. The study, which has been carried out with a qualitative approach, therefore aims to create an understanding for implementations of RPA. More specifically, in order to be able to identify which activities that are being implemented and how these are being characterized. With characteristics of the activities it is meant what, how and why the activity is implemented. We have, after completed study, identified eight characteristics for activities when implementing RPA.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Automation, such as Robotic Process Automation, is followed by a debate of whether it is beneficial or threatful for companies and its employees. The technology has the capacity to replace voluminous and repetitive tasks, which implies both interest and concern on the labor market. Furthermore, the controller is a multifaceted role characterized by time pressure and limited opportunity to work with valuable analysis. The role is thus an interesting context for studying how automation can create change. Based on previous research, RPA´s impact on a specific occupational role has not been addressed, which creates relevance in the purpose of the following study. Moreover, this study aims to create prerequisite for companies to achieve successful implementation of the technology. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to describe how the occupational role of a controller can change through implementation of RPA, as well as the consequences the technology can have for both the professional role and its associated company. Methodology: This empirically driven study is characterized by a qualitative approach based on a realistic perspective. The empirical data has been collected through semi structured interviews with eight controllers and six persons well familiar with the subject of RPA. Conclusion: RPA has the capacity to assist, alternatively replace, the controller in the area of information production. Through time saving, the controller can spend more time on proactive analysis of quality assured information, resulting in more well-founded decision making. Furthermore, the software can contribute to increased efficiency, flexibility and quality, which comes to different expressions for the controller and company. Due to the fact that RPA can replace the physical employee in customary tasks, however, challenges arise for the controller to maintain business understanding. Simultaneously, concerns about dismissals can be spread in the company. For that reason, resistance to change can arise, which is a challenge companies need to handle. In order to achieve a successful implementation of RPA, companies should take into account aspects such as the importance of preparatory work, the establishment of a functioning management model, and active leadership throughout the implementation process.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleMore and more people have got their eyes on different automation techniques to make it easier for customers, employees and the business. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a rapidly evolving technology that automates repetitive and monotonous business processes that can be considered time consuming for employees. Through a qualitative case study, opportunities, challenges and recommendations that may occur during an implementation of RPA in medium-sized businesses have been investigated, like Stora Tunabyggen AB. The collected data comes from interviews and a document study. A qualitative data analysis was carried out in which opportunities and challenges were presented. Then a SWOT analysis was carried out to find strengths and weaknesses with RPA. The SWOT analysis was then used to present recommendations for a possible implementation. The result shows positive as well as negative effects that medium-sized businesses should be aware of when considering an implementation of RPA. A challenge with an implementation of RPA is to map and describe the processes that can be automated. A possibility is that the staff no longer have to focus on monotonous and repetitive tasks. Tunabyggen should evaluate the entire operation for an implementation of RPA to get the best possible effect from RPA. A strength with RPA is to reduced human error in the business processes of the organisation. One of the weaknesses of RPA is that there is no human control before a work process is performed.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleAutomation has been a hot topic for many businesses for a number of years now. The term is usually related to automation of physical machinery like robots to speed up production and assembling of cars. But with currently technology, the automation has taken a step further. Automation is now capable of automating back-office processes. Robotic Process Automation, also known as RPA, is a technology that is capable of imitating the users step in a business process and replicate it automatically, without human intervention. The purpose of this study is to determine the challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of RPA in businesses. By performing interviews and examining existing material about RPA, this study aims to deliver a deeper and wider understanding of the rising technology that is Robotic Process Automation.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOrganizations are becoming more dependent on using digital solutions in their daily operations to stay competetive with other companies. Organizations have implemented Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for a long time to streamline operations and increase competitive advantages. Along with the development of digital solutions, the concept of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has developed. RPA is implemented to automate and streamline the organization's business processes. As an implementation of ERP systems, there are challenges associated with the RPA implementation that must be addressed to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Previous research that has been identified has investigated challenges with implementing RPA from a customer and project perspective. However, previous identified research has not investigated or mapped the challenges from the perspective of the RPA supplier, which resulted in the study's purpose and area of study. The purpose of the study is to investigate and map the challenges that RPA suppliers may face when implementing RPA. To answer the question of the study and gain a deeper understanding of the study area, nine RPA consultants were interviewed. The result from the study demonstrates that mapped challenges from the RPA supplier perspective both differ and confirm challenges identified in previous research from a customer and project perspective. The conclusion presents eleven challenges that RPA suppliers may face when implementing RPA.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleRobotic Process Automation (RPA) is a software technology used to automate monotonous and repetitive processes. This technology is used in many places, both in the private and public sectors, and in different applications. Since the introduction, the RPA technology has been developed rapidly in e.g. Sweden's municipalities. In 2017, a law was passed that allows public organizations to automate their decision support. This led, e.g., to that the Trelleborg municipality introduced automated decision support within the social-administration financial-aid process. In the past, social services have carried out decision support processes manually, but with the new legislation, more and more social administrations have started to use automation. Municipalities that have started to use RPA, have been criticized regarding the suitability of RPA as a tool for subjective assessments. In this study, the use of RPA in municipalities is investigated, and more specifically it focuses on two questions; How do the municipalities in Sweden currently work with RPA? What is the attitude of users to the use of RPA in the process of financial-aid? The study was carried out by interviewing IT-specialists in a selected number of municipalities by using a qualitative method for data collection and data analysis. The results were analyzed based on the theoretical framework called Technology Acceptance Model, TAM. From the results it was concluded that RPA is a technique that is or has been considered in all the actual municipalities, but has been implemented, so far, to various extent. Automated decision support is underway in several municipalities, but the new law is somewhat difficult to interpret, which reduces the implementation rate. However, many of the employees see RPA as a positive addition to the work and welcome the technology.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleRobotic Process Automation (RPA) is an increasingly emerging technology and is used in organizations to automate and streamline manual business processes. There are a number of advantages to using this technology. However, the implementation of RPA can be linked to mixed reactions among employees and it is not unusual for some employees to oppose the technology due to fear and ignorance of the influence of automation. This case study aims to investigate how the implementation of RPA affects organizational aspects such as working methods, roles and responsibilities, and examine whether there are differences in management and experience regarding this in consulting, private and public activities. In order to investigate the above-mentioned areas, the data collection was conducted through semistructured interviews with organizations that implemented RPA and through literature research. The result shows that there are a lot of similarities in how RPA affects the work in organizations, but the differences lie in how the work with RPA is conducted.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleAs new technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) are introduced and used within organizations, the need for digital skills is increasing. However, organizations do not always prioritize the necessary skills development, which means that employees do not have time to adapt to the progress of digitalization, which can thus lead to the organization becoming dependent on external expertise. The study examines how the use of RPA can change an organization's competence needs. This study therefore aims to contribute in-depth knowledge of the competencies required by organizations to be able to use RPA successfully. Furthermore, this study was conducted through a qualitative method approach and thus semistructured interviews were conducted with respondents who have experience of using RPA. The study shows that there is an increased demand for two areas of expertise in organizations using RPA. These are: (1) Digital skills and (2) Human abilities. The study also shows that the new roles that are emerging have differences in the need for skills. Finally, the study shows that management support is important to achieve internal competence and that employees should be able to use RPA successfully. The study has resulted in recommendations that organizations who are using or are considering using RPA can relate to achieve successful use of RPA.

Der volle Inhalt der QuellePurpose: The current digitalization of community building leads to the opportunity to automate and streamline processes in community building. Automating parts of the building permit process using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is possible. Such implementation could lead to more efficient processes, but perhaps also other effects, negative and positive. Some of Sweden's municipalities have already implemented RPA in the building permit process and others are about to do so shortly. Therefore, it is of high relevance to investigate how much RPA can make the building permit process more efficient and investigate how automation affects the amount of work for employees at building permit units. The purpose of this study is to investigate the extent to which the building permit process can be streamlined with the help of RPA. Furthermore, the study wishes to investigate how such an implementation can affect the tasks and jobs of caseworkers and administrators at building permit units in Sweden. Method: This study is carried out as a survey. In order to achieve the purpose and objectives of the study, two different data collection techniques have been selected, where primary data is collected through interviews and secondary data via a document study. The study is thus mainly of a qualitative nature but is supplemented with quantitative empirical evidence in order to substantiate conclusions. Findings: The report shows that the building permit process is made more efficient with the help of RPA. By automating steps in the process, it is estimated that 141.5 hours/month is saved on previously manually performed work. The time saved is instead mainly spent on tasks that are considered relevant and more knowledge-intensive. This in turn leads to a change in tasks for the employees at the building permit unit, and is highlighted as a positive aspect. Furthermore, the study shows that jobs of building permit caseworkers have not been affected due to RPA and does not provide any indications that their work will be threatened in the future. Those most affected by the implementation are administrators, as it is mainly administrative tasks that can be replaced by RPA. The study provides some indication that administrative services and the need for administrators in building permit units may decrease, as a result of automation. Implications: By implementing RPA in the building permit process, not only is the process streamlined. Other benefits such as more satisfied employees and higher quality of decisions are also effects of automation. Satisfied employees can lead to fewer redundancies and consequently an increased level of competence at the building permit unit in the long run. Higher quality of decisions leads to increased trust in building permit units in Sweden. Furthermore, RPA can also contribute to a more unitary building permit process between municipalities, as established functions and rules, as well as information can be shared between the municipalities. Limitations: Since the study was carried out as a bachelor thesis, there were restrictions of the number of words that the study may include. In addition, the study examined three of Sweden's municipalities that worked with RPA for at least one year. If more municipalities were examined, the validity of the study could increase.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIt’s common that organizations and their processes goes through a digital transformation toachieve competitive advantages. Organizations are often looking for more efficient ways ofexecuting their processes. To achieve efficiency in organizations, digital tools like RoboticProcess Automation (RPA) could be used. During the past five years RPA has become popularamong organizations due to a fast return on investments (ROI). When in a structured wayimplementing RPA in organizations, change management should be applied to handle potentialchallenges. Existing literature within the RPA field explains different types of models andholistic challenges when transitioning to RPA, however, little is known about how these changesare affecting the RPA-implementation and when they occur. Consequently, the purpose of thisstudy is to identify what challenges organizations have met during the implementation and whenthe challenges occurred. The question of the study is: What challenges in the change process isthere when implementing RPA? The study shows the importance of managing the challenges that arise initially to prevent futureissues in the RPA-project. The conclusion is that there are many different types of challenges thatan organization will encounter in change management when implementing RPA. The result of thestudy identified following challenges, organizational resistance, change management, processdescription, development of RPA and monitoring of RPA. The contribution of the study to theresearch area is when challenges during a RPA-implementation can occur and how challengesrelate to each other during the RPA-implementation.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground and problem: Södra Skogsägarna ekonomisk förening invested 2018 in a robot at their head office with the aim of creating knowledge about RPA and reducing repetitive administrative tasks. This is to create efficiency in the long term and to achieve increased employee satisfaction because the employees, after implementation, perform more valuable and qualified work tasks. Today, there is a major problem and difficulty in how companies should evaluate RPA investments as current evaluation methods only allow for financial figures and thus cannot assess non-measurable benefits. This creates problems when the goals of an RPA investment in such functions are often set for other than purely financial ones such as better decision-making and increased employee satisfaction. Since there is no previous research on the evaluation of RPA investments in administrative functions and that previous studies show that there is a need for an evaluation model that mixes financial and non-financial dimensions, this study intends to develop a multidimensional evaluation model. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to create a deeper understanding and knowledge of RPA investments in administrative functions as well as their effects on companies. To achieve this, a tentative multidimensional evaluation model that can be applied to RPA investments in administrative functions will be developed. This will then be tested in an empirical case on Södra where an investment in RPA has been made. This is to be able to evaluate their investment and to supplement and develop the evaluation model based on experience and lessons learned from a practical case. Method: The study is divided into three different parts along the sections theoretical frame of reference, empirical frame of reference and analysis. The first part of the study conducted in the theoretical frame of reference intends to carry out the first part of the approach to achieve the purpose of the report. In the empirical frame of reference, the second part of the approach is carried out and the concluding analysis links the study as we carry out the last part of the approach. As a result of the study being conducted in these three parts, it has been established that the report conducts two different studies that together become a whole and that the study thus also applies two different research designs. The first study to be conducted is the development of a new, previously non-existent, multidimensional evaluation model, which consequently applies an explorative research design. The second study consists of the evaluation conducted at Södra and the research design applied there is therefore instead a case study. Conclusion: Through this study we have tried to solve the problems that exist regarding evaluation of RPA implementations, which resulted in the multidimensional evaluation model RIPA. This model was used as a tool to create a deeper understanding and knowledge of RPA investments in administrative functions and their effects on companies. In order for the model to be said to create such knowledge, it was required that it could be considered valid. A summary of the study's results shows that the developed RIPA model includes evaluation of both financial and non-financial effects where a balance is created between the focus of detail and a holistic perspective. Because the model can be found to solve the problems that previously existed, it is considered to be valid and thus suitable for use in RPA implementations in administrative functions, although it needs to be tested several times ahead. In addition to achieving the purpose, the study has also generated a contribution to how future researchers and companies should look at and treat RPA implementations. The RIPA model will also be able to help society and companies to continue to develop as the model helps companies to implement RPA based on credible decisions. The model also creates the opportunity for companies to follow up the results afterwards and improve the robot based on it, which will affect RPA's continued growth.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleToday's society is developing at a rapid pace and in relation with digitalisation, new technologies are emerging that can streamline, improve and simplify the work within organizations. One of these technologies is Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which is about automating simple and monotonous business processes with clear rules. The implementation of RPA can present both opportunities and challenges that may be crucial for business operations. Currently, limited research exists on how RPA can be implemented effectively within specific organizations. The healthcare sector currently consists of many processes suitable for automation, which can free up time for healthcare professionals to provide more quality care with patients. At the same time, there are challenges in applying new technologies in healthcare, which include law, organizational resistance and technical barriers. In order to investigate the phenomenon where RPA is applied within healthcare, the following study will investigate the issue: What opportunities and challenges exist when implementing RPA in healthcare? In order to answer the research question, a qualitative approach has been used. With the help of semi-structured interviews, empirical data material was collected and also supplemented with other documentation from the hospital. The analyzed result led to overall themes that characterized the design of the discussion. The following study shows opportunities and challenges that occur before, during and after the implementation of RPA within a Swedish hospital. The study's conclusion visualizes identified opportunities and challenges, highlighting, among other things, user involvement, increased digital curiosity and prioritization of internal resources. With the limited research that exists in the field, the study is expected to contribute to new information for future implementations within the same context.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleRobotic Process Automation (RPA) is demonstrating remarkable potential in enterprise deployments, saving thousands of hours each year and enabling people to focus on higher-value work. However, with technology comes new challenges. To deal with these challenges, a good mix of people, methods and techniques is required. This study has identified common challenges organizations have when implementing RPA as well as why consultants play an important role in successful implementation.A qualitative method waschosen to interpret and understand the topic in depth. The conclusion shows that organizations have challenges in setting up an internal RPA organization, the understanding of what resources are needed, involving the IT department and the choice of process to automate. Based on these challenges, this study shows that the consultant's role is important for organizations to handle common challenges in implementing RPA

Currently organizations make high investments in Information Systems and Technologies, but often they do not identify and, consequently, cannot achieve certain benefits resulting from these investments. This dissertation aims to identify and explore the benefits that can be obtained by implementing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) technologies in banking compliance processes. In order to achieve this objective, a qualitative investigation was carried out, through a case study of a partially automated Compliance process with RPA in Bank C. This research aims to present a practical case of the applicability of the Benefits Management Model of Cranfield School of Management to identify and structure the benefits resulting from the implementation of RPA and potential benefits that may be obtained through the implementation of IPA in the process. In addition to the documentary analysis, semi-structured interviews were conducted with some of the participants in the implementation of the RPA in the process. Although not generalizable, the results obtained show that the implementation of these technologies can provide a set of benefits related to cost and time reduction, but also an increase in the efficiency of processes and a reduction in operational risk. On the other hand, the use of the Benefit Management Model of Cranfield School of Management proved to be very useful in identifying and structuring benefits and allowed them to be directly related to the investments made.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe technology has always been affecting society while technological solutions are rapidly developing, there information gets handled faster than ever. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a robot that performs repetitive tasks that gets handled exactly the same way each time, that normally is taken care of by humans. When it comes to implicit knowledge, it’s often built up by experience and is difficult to communicate and explain to others. This study investigate how Robotic Process Automation affect the business development and the implicit knowledge, that can’t be communicated inside organizations. Our empirical data were collected by using literary sources relevant to this study and research, as well as a qualitative study, which included five organisations: Scania CV AB, OKQ8, Stena Line, Södra and Uddevalla kommun. One disadvantage with the RPA is that they do not meet their full capacity without having internet connection, which Södra have noticed. The business development is therefore most positively affected by the implementation of RPA. Results of our empirical shows that the implicit knowledge is relatively affected by the replacement of humans to RPA-robots. This is because all organisations has been taking act to transfer all of the implicit knowledge explicitly so that the knowledge stays within the business.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleSociety is experiencing a digital transformation and in the public sector a central objectiveexists in utilizing the new possibilities to rationalize their operations. Increased digitizationhas caused a surge in popularity for automation of processes through robotic processautomation (RPA) due to the many opportunities it offers organizations. However, thismethod is not without its limitations and challenges. The purpose of this study is therefore toexplore the opportunities and challenges that accompany the implementation of RPA in thecontext of the public sector. To this end, an abductive, qualitative method is applied through amultiple case study. The result shows that the implementation of RPA can be in line withobjectives and visions regarding digitalisation and automatisation within the public sector.Furthermore, it is shown that there are opportunities for RPA to increase the effectiveness andquality of processes and to enable rationalisation in the organisations, although rationalisationthough layoffs seem like an uncommon use of RPA in the public sector. Instead, RPA is morecommonly used to offload employees so that they instead can engage in activities whichcreate more value, which also shows promise in increasing employee satisfaction.Simultaneously, there are challenges for the implementation of RPA in regard to identifyingprocesses that are suitable for automation through RPA which mainly relate to fulfillingcriteria regarding stability in the environment in which RPA is implemented. Furthermore, the study shows that it may be challenging to exhaustively make use of the capacity of the RPA.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleMore businesses are taking their own initiative to drive a lightweight type of technology in order to be able to fulfill their needs in a faster and more efficient way. A popular example of such a technology is Robotic Process Automation (RPA) used in organization to automate processes. What distinguishes RPA from more traditional techniques is that the robotisation software interacts with the user interface in the same way as a human being does. This means that RPA is not dependent on programming skills and can be managed by the business itself, outside the IT-function. This challenges Strategic alignment, which has been of importance to how organizations built a strategic way of working with IT in the organization to support business processes. This study therefore aims to investigate how the relationship between the IT-function and the business is affected by the introduction of RPA in an organization. The study was based on a qualitative research approach at three different companies. The result showed that the relationship between the IT-function and business is affected by organizational changes that take place when RPA technology is introduced into the business where a new department arises, the RPA-function. The result showed that there is no clear division between the IT department and the business, which means that organizations need to find new ways to cooperate and establish relationships.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn communal organizations there has previously not existed a law that allowed automated decision support, it was during the year 2018 that the law changed. Previous research has focused on automation in the private business sector, which has created a lack of research on public organizations. Following the change in the law, Social services have started to automate the decision support in their decision support processes. The automation takes place using the software technology RPA (Robot Process Automation). RPA can only handle processes that are regulated and structured. It forces the Social services to define and structure their decision support processes that were previously manually performed by administrators. It involves creation of consequences that affects the decision support process and leads to the study ́s question: How is the decision support process in communal organizations affected using RPA? A qualitative method has been used in the collection of literature and empirical data, in order to be able to identify the consequences and its impact in the decision support process. The identified consequences presented in the study's conclusion are divided into the categories: consequences based on RPA and consequences based on the administrators. The consequences identified in the study have differed between the communal organizations, depending on how they interpreted the law and whether RPA has started to be used in the communes yet.
