Der volle Inhalt der QuelleFew studies have examined the experiences of sexually trafficked victims and survivors in the United States.
As the population increases it is important to understand how sexually trafficked victims and survivors cope with trauma, experience recovery, and respond to therapy. Research indicates that factors of hope and resilience play a vital role in the way individuals cope with trauma and experience recovery (Masten & Narayan, 2012).
This study examined factors of hope and resilience of 12 sexually trafficked victims and survivors, ages 14 to 21. Interviews were conducted and a mixed-methods design was employed to establish common themes related to how sex trafficking victims comprehend and experience hope and resilience within their lives.
Significant quantitative and qualitative results were found in this study. Six significant qualitative themes were derived from the interviews describing various ways that participants experienced hope and resilience. The themes included (a) Need for positive attachment (b) Positive Self-Portrayal (c) Introspection (d) Adaptability (e) Need for money, and (f) Desire for change.
Additionally, participants also completed the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, the Children’s Hope Scale or Adult Hope Scale, and the Hopkins Symptom Checklist-25. Quantitative results indicate a strong positive correlation between depression and anxiety (r = .52, p < .01), a strong positive correlation between hope and resilience (r = .70, p < .04), and a strong negative correlation between resilience and anxiety (r = -.63, p < .03).
The implications of this study may be used to direct clinical focus when working with victims and survivors, placing emphasis on the importance of developing hope and resilience throughout the rehabilitation process.

Vivemos um tempo de desespero, num mundo avesso Ãs utopias, ou seja, numa carÃncia de esperanÃa. A promessa de vida melhor e abundante que o sistema capitalista, com sua sociedade de consumo, prometeu, nÃo se cumpriu em sua plenitude na modernidade, ou melhor dizendo, nÃo para todos. Desespero, frustraÃÃo existencial, violÃncia passaram a ser temas urgentes dentre as preocupaÃÃes das diversas Ãreas do conhecimento. Nesse terreno especial se inscreve este trabalho, que teve por objetivo compreender a produÃÃo de sonhos dos jovens participantes da FundaÃÃo Casa Grande, localizada em Nova Olinda, CearÃ. âSonhosâ aqui entendidos como dimensÃes dos projetos existenciais, portanto, que se tÃm bem acordados. A pesquisa de doutorado foi desenvolvida no Ãmbito do Programa de PÃs-GraduaÃÃo em EducaÃÃo da Faculdade de EducaÃÃo (FACED), da Universidade Federal do Cearà (UFC), na linha de pesquisa Movimentos Sociais, EducaÃÃo Popular e Escola, especificamente no eixo temÃtico EducaÃÃo Ambiental, Juventude, Arte e Espiritualidade, sob a orientaÃÃo da Professora Ercilia Maria Braga de Olinda. A complexidade da temÃtica exigiu uma abordagem construtiva, em que teoria, metodologia e experiÃncias dos envolvidos (pesquisador e sujeitos) foram tecidas juntas numa percepÃÃo de totalidade. O contexto em que se inseriu o objeto à um imbricado de relaÃÃes sÃcio-econÃmicas e culturais especiais. Nova Olinda à um pequeno municÃpio com IDH, conforme o IBGE, dos mais baixos da regiÃo do Cariri. Ali se localiza a instituiÃÃo que abriga os jovens sujeitos desta pesquisa. A FundaÃÃo Casa Grande Memorial do Homem Kariri â ONG criada em 1992, se propÃe ser âuma escola de gestÃo cultural que tem como missÃo educar crianÃas e jovens do sertÃo atravÃs dos programas de MemÃria, ComunicaÃÃo, Artes e Turismoâ. Os sujeitos colaboradores deste trabalho foram alguns dos jovens participantes da referida instituiÃÃo. A mediaÃÃo teÃrica apoiu-se em intelectuais como Zygmunt Bauman, Boaventura de Sousa Santos, Marie-Christine Josso, Antonio NÃvoa, Ercilia Braga, Alfonzo QuintÃs, Peter Singer, Enrique Dussel, Humberto Maturana, Josà Tavares, Paulo Freire, Ernst Bloch, Erich Fromm e outros. A abordagem metodolÃgica foi transdisciplinar; recorreu à pesquisa (auto)biografia, tanto nos fundamentos teÃricos quanto no aspecto procedimental; a trajetÃria da pesquisa pode ser denominada de qualitativa, colaborativa, formativa e existencial como modus de produzir ciÃncia em que a centralidade està na pessoa humana e na vida como fonte maior de toda a existÃncia. Foram usadas tÃcnicas como: entrevista narrativa, cÃrculos reflexivos e observaÃÃo dos Ãmbitos da organizaÃÃo pesquisada. As narrativas juvenis expressaram modos de ser esperanÃosos, acerca do que-ainda-nÃo-veio-a-ser. Mostraram a aÃÃo de jovens resilientes. A tese à uma reflexÃo sobre a produÃÃo de sonhos, como uma oportunidade de construir â no dizer de Ernst Bloch â o que-ainda-nÃo-se-tornou-bom, enfim, demonstra que sonhar à uma forma de se contrapor ao determinismo do destino. We live in a time of hopelessness, a world inside out to utopias, in a lack of hope. The promise of better life and abundant that the capitalist system, with its consumer society, has pledged not been fulfilled in its fullness in modernity, or rather not for everyone. Despair, existential frustration, violence became urgent topics among the concerns of various knowledge areas. In this particular field is part of this work, which aimed to understand the production of the dreams of young participants of the FundaÃÃo Casa Grande, located in Nova Olinda, CearÃ. "Dreams" here understood as existential dimensions of the projects, therefore, to have well agreed. The doctoral research was developed within the Programa de PÃs-GraduaÃÃo em EducaÃÃo, Faculdade de EducaÃÃo (FACED), Universidade Federal do Cearà (UFC), the line of research Social Movements, Popular Education and the School, specifically in the thematic area Education Environment, Youth, Art and Spirituality, under the guidance of Professor Ercilia Maria Braga de Olinda. The complexity of the issue required a constructive approach in which theory, methodology and experiences of those involved (the researcher and subject) were woven together in a perception of wholeness. The context in which the object is inserted in an interwoven social and economic relationships and cultural special. Nova Olinda is a small town with HDI, according to the IBGE, the lowest in the region of Cariri. There she finds the institution that houses the young subjects of research. The Casa Grande Foundation Memorial Human Kariri - NGO created in 1992, purports to be "a school of cultural management that has as its mission to educate children and youth programs through the backwoods of Memory, Communication, Arts and Tourism." The subjects of this study collaborators were among the young participants of that institution. The theoretical mediation on intellectuals as Zygmunt Bauman, Boaventura Sousa Santos, Marie-Christine Josso, Antonio Novoa, Ercilia Braga, Alfonzo Farms, Peter Singer, Enrique Dussel, Humberto Maturana, Josà Tavares, Paulo Freire, Ernst Bloch, Erich Fromm and others. The methodological approach was interdisciplinary; used to search (auto) biography, both in theoretical and in the procedural aspects, the history of the research can be called a qualitative, collaborative, formative and existential modus how to produce science in which the core is in the person and human life as a major source of all existence. Techniques were used as narrative interview, circles and reflective observation of areas of the organization studied. The narratives expressed youth ways to be hopeful about what-does-not-come-to-be. Showed the action of resilient youth. The thesis is a reflection on the production of dreams as an opportunity to build - in the words of Ernst Bloch - what-does-not-become-good; at last, demonstrate that to dream is a way to contrapose the determination of destiny.

Furthermore, findings showed differences between boys and girls in terms of the predictor variables of resilience. Regression analysis indicated that the model with eight predictors explained 69% of the total variance among females and %70 for males. On the other hand, male students possesed five protective factors predicting resilience, whereas females had three.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleENGLISH ABSTRACT: Occupational stress and Burnout are serious problems in current day organisations. To this end organisations should actively promote positive psychological health and occupational wellbeing in order to harness the full potential of their workforce and increase organisational performance. Studies from the emerging field of Positive Psychology hypothesize that personal resources, like the constructs of Psychological Capital (i.e. Hope, Optimism, Self-Efficacy and Resilience), may contribute to decreased Stress (Avey, Luthans & Jensen, 2009), Burnout (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2001) and increased work Engagement (Avey, Wernsing & Luthans, 2008). Moreover, it has been proven that the Psychological Capital (PsyCap) constructs are state-like and can be developed (Luthans, Avey & Patera, 2008). It may, therefore, be vital for organisations to identify and develop these positive PsyCap factors, which might moderate the effect of Occupational stress on Burnout, as well as curb the initial experiences of Occupational stress and the subsequent development of Burnout in their employees. The presence of PsyCap may also lead to increased Engagement, which is also known to be associated with less Burnout. The aims of this study were to explore the relationships between Burnout, Employee Engagement, Occupational stress and PsyCap in the South African context, as well as to determine whether PsyCap plays a moderating role in the Occupational stress, Burnout relationship. A non-experimental research design (i.e. exploratory survey study) was used to explore the relationships between these four constructs. In this study, Burnout was defined as a condition characterised by fatigue and exhaustion, divided into Personal Burnout (“the degree of physical and psychological fatigue and exhaustion experienced by the person”), Work-related Burnout (“the degree of physical and psychological fatigue and exhaustion that is perceived by the person as related to his/her work”) and Client-related Burnout (“the degree of physical and psychological fatigue and exhaustion that is perceived by the person as related to his/her work with clients”) (Kristensen, Borritz, Villadsen & Christensen, 2005, p. 197). Employee Engagement was defined as “a positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind that is characterized by vigour, dedication, and absorption” (Schaufeli, Salanova, Gonzalez-Roma & Bakker, 2002, p.74). Occupational stress is experienced when an imbalance exists between people’s perceived environmental demands and their perceived ability to cope with these demands (Cooper, Clarke & Rowbottom, 1999). Lastly, PsyCap was described as a second-order construct which included Hope, Optimism, Self-efficacy and Resilience (Luthans, Youssef & Avolio, 2007). A convenience sample of 209 permanent employees and support staff of a medium size construction company within the Western Cape, South Africa, participated in the research. The Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI; Kristensen et al., 2005), the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9; Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS; Cohen, Kamarck & Mermelstein, 1983) and the Psychological Capital Questionnaire-Self Rater Version (PCQ-24; Luthans, Avolio & Avey, 2007) were administered. Consistent with previous research, significant negative relationships were evident between all three dimensions of Burnout and Occupational stress. This indicates that higher Occupational stress is associated with an increased propensity to develop Personal-, Work- and Client Burnout. This was expected as it is known that Burnout develops in reaction to prolonged Stress. The correlational results further revealed that higher levels of Hope, Optimism, Self-efficacy and Resilience (and the PsyCap total score) were associated with lower levels of Occupational stress and Burnout. This suggests that increased levels of PsyCap may probably lead to decreased levels of Occupational stress and Burnout. As expected, multiple moderate positive correlations were evident between the PsyCap sub-dimensions, empirically confirming the discriminant and convergent validity of the dimensions in the South African context. This implies that by developing one of the constructs, the others are also likely to increase. As hypothesised, both Occupational Stress and Burnout was found to relate negatively to Employee Engagement. The results further revealed that higher PsyCap was related to higher Engagement levels and that Optimism and Self-efficacy, as PsyCap sub-dimensions, emerged as the two strongest predictors of Employee Engagement. These results suggest that the development of PsyCap may hold multiple benefits (e.g. increasing Engagement, lessening Stress and subsequent Burnout). Lastly, PsyCap did indeed emerge as a moderator in the relationship between Occupational stress and Personal- and Work Burnout respectively. This suggests that although Occupational stress is inevitable in any work environment, PsyCap as a personal coping resource, can buffer the development of Burnout over the long term. Limitations of the study as well as suggestions for future research were discussed.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Werk stres en Uitbranding is twee ernstige probleme in die huidige werksomgewing. Organisasies moet dus die positiewe sielkundige gesondheid van hul werknemers bevorder en sodoende die volle potensiaal van hul werknemers probeer verseker, wat die organisasie se algehele prestasie sal verbeter. Studies vanaf die opkomende veld van Positiewe Sielkunde beweer dat persoonlike karaktereienskappe, soos die onderskeie konstrukte van Sielkundige Kapitaal (d.i. Hoop, Optimisme, Selfbekwaamheid en Veerkragtigheid), `n vermindering in stres (Avey et al., 2009) en Uitbranding (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2001) tot gevolg kan hê, asook Werknemerbetrokkenheid kan verhoog (Avey et al., 2008). Verder is daar ook bewys dat die konstrukte van Sielkundige Kapitaal ontwikkel kan word (e.g. Luthans et al., 2008). Dit is dus noodsaaklik vir organisasies om hierdie positiewe sielkundige konstrukte te identifiseer en ontwikkel, wat moontlik die effek van Werk stres op Uitbranding kan modereer, sowel as die oorspronklike ondervindings van Werk stres en die gevolglike ontwikkeling van Uitbranding in werknemers, kan inhibeer. Die teenwoordigheid van Sielkundige Kapitaal kan ook aanleiding gee tot `n verhoging in Werknemerbetrokkenheid, wat ook verwant is aan minder Uitbranding. Die doelwitte van hierdie studie was om die verwantskappe tussen Uitbranding, Werknemerbetrokkenheid, Werk Stres en Sielkundige Kapitaal in die Suid-Afrikaanse konteks te ondersoek, asook om te bepaal of Sielkundige Kapitaal ‘n modererende rol speel in die verband tussen Werk Stres en Uitbranding. 'n Nieeksperimentele navorsingsontwerp ('n verkennende studie) is gebruik om die verbande tussen die vier konstrukte te ondersoek. In hierdie studie word Uitbranding beskryf as `n toestand gekenmerk deur vermoeienis en uitputting, en word verdeel in Persoonlike Uitbranding (die graad van fisiese en sielkundige vermoeienis en uitputting wat deur die persoon ervaar word), Werks Uitbranding (die graad van fisiese en sielkundige vermoeienis en uitputting wat deur die persoon ervaar word, verwant aan sy/haar werk) en Kliënte Uitbranding (die graad van fisiese en sielkundige vermoeienis en uitputting wat deur die persoon ervaar word wat verwant is aan sy/haar werk met kliënte) (Kristensen et al., 2005). Werknemerbetrokkenheid is gedefinieer as 'n positiewe, vervullende ingesteldheid wat gekenmerk word deur Vitaliteit, Toegewydheid en Verdieptheid (Schaufeli et al., 2002). Werk stres word beskryf as `n wanbalans tussen `n persoon se persepsie van sy/haar omgewings vereistes en die persepsie van hul eie vermoëns om hierdie vereistes te hanteer (Cooper et al., 1999). Laastens verwys Sielkundige Kapitaal na `n tweede-orde konstruk wat bestaan uit vier afsonderlike subkonstrukte naamlik Hoop, Optimisme, Self-bekwaamheid en Veerkragtigheid. ‘n Geriefsteekproef van 209 permanente werknemers en steundienstepersoneel van 'n medium grootte konstruksie maatskappy in die Wes-Kaap het aan die navorsingsprojek deelgeneem. Die Copenhagen Uitbranding Vraelys (CBI; Kristensen et al., 2005), die Utrecht Werksbetrokkenheid Skaal (UWES-9) (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003), die Waargenome Stresskaal (PSS; Cohen et al., 1983) en die Sielkundige Kapitaal – Self-beoordeling Weergawe (PCQ-24; Luthans, Avolio et al., 2007) was gebruik in hierdie studie. In ooreenstemming met vorige navorsing is beduidende negatiewe verwantskappe tussen die drie dimensies van Uitbranding en Werk stres gevind. Dit dui daarop dat hoër Werk stres geassosieer word met 'n toename in die geneigdheid om Persoonlike-, Werks- en Kliënte Uitbranding te ontwikkel. Hierdie resultate was verwag, aangesien dit bekend is dat Uitbranding die gevolg is van lang termyn Stres. Die resultate het verder onthul dat hoë vlakke van Hoop, Optimisme, Self- Bekwaamheid en Veerkragtigheid (asook die totaaltelling van Sielkundige Kapitaal) geassosieer word met laer vlakke van Werk stres en Uitbranding. Dus, `n toename in werknemers se Sielkundige Kapitaal kan moontlik lei tot `n afname in hul Werk stres en Uitbranding. Verder, en soos wat verwag was, is bevind dat daar verskeie positiewe korrelasies tussen die vier subkonstrukte van Sielkundige Kapitaal bestaan. Dit is ook 'n empiriese aanduiding van die onderskeidings geldigheid van hierdie dimensies binne die Suid-Afrikaanse konteks. Dit beteken dat deur een van hierdie vier konstrukte te ontwikkel, die ander drie konstrukte ook terselfdertyd sal verhoog. erder het SielkundigeKapitaal verband gehou met 'n toename in Werknemerbetrokkenheid, en Optimisme en Self-Bekwaamheid, as sub-dimensies van Sielkundige Kapitaal, was hier die beste voorspellers van Werknemerbetrokkenheid. Hierdie resultate impliseer dat die ontwikkeling van Sielkundige Kapitaal verskeie voordele vir 'n maatskappy kan inhou (bv. verhoogde Werknemer Betrokkenheid, verlaagde Werk stres, asook Uitbranding). Laastens het hierdie studie bewys dat Sielkundige Kapitaal wel 'n modererende rol speel in die verhouding tussen Werk stres en onderskeidelik Persoonlike- en Werks- Uitbranding. Dit veronderstel dat alhoewel Werk stres onafwendbaar is in die huidige werksomgewing, Sielkundige Kapitaal as 'n persoonlike hanteringsmeganisme of hulpbron, die ontwikkeling van Uitbranding kan buffer. Die beperkings van die studie, asook aanbevelings vir toekomstige navorsing word bespreek.

Förväntning- och värdeteorin, Målsättningsteorin och Självbestämmandeteorin. Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur positivt psykologiskt kapital, inskrivningstid på arbetsförmedling samt tillgång till jobbcoach eller inte inverkar på arbetssökandes inre motivation. En enkätstudie genomfördes där 154 arbetssökande, 83 män och 70 kvinnor deltog. De fick ta ställning till 50 påståenden gällande tron på den egna förmågan, hopp, hantering av motgång och inre motivation. Resultatet visade att den främsta variabeln som förklarar inre motivation hos arbetssökande är hopp, som innebär hopp om framtiden. Det visade sig att tiden som individen är arbetssökande och tillgång till jobbcoach, inte hade någon betydelse för inre motivationen. Slutsatsen är att trots att det råder lågkonjunktur så finns hopp om framtiden. Key words:

The tenor of narratives and its analysis interpellates us to the fragility of those who suffered the most diverse types of violence. The first chapter presents a reflection about the society and the education on the XXI Century, the human being and its cultural and social relationships with a panoramic vision of current reeducation, its crisis, influences and reflection in the youngs lives. It makes use of proposals of hopeful look in order to assist the expectancy and necessities of education in this Century. The second chapter defines the term bullying and presents its history. Describes the development and the intensity with which the phenomenon happens from the universal feelings and afflictions that affect children young adults and adults. It deals with its specification and consequences, its prejudice to psychological, emotional and socioeducational formation of individuals victimized by bullying. The third chapter shows the phenomenon victims report and analysis of narratives its individuals and groups aspects reveal existent connections among itself and in scholar environment, they invite us, thus, to the ethic of care. They point out ways to foster resiliency and the acquaintance with tolerance in searching for equality in relationships. In this perspective the victims portray the suffering, expectancy and feelings of impotence facing bullying, its experiences and findings of this phenomenon. The fourth chapter presents the relevance of narratives in the process of subjective development in experiences its implication and reasons about bullying. Emphasizes the process of intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships and the search for answers to understand the phenomenon. In the possibility of these reports its clear the importance of giving visibility and provide the understanding of bullying, legalizing thus, the valve of narratives. In the last chapter there are proposals made using ways capable to contribute for and education faced to hope, based in relationships of respect to others, those who suffer or had suffered bullying, enabling thus, to interfere and react facing so complex and variable phenomenon. We considered prime factors for this research, the analysis of narratives in order to allow the discovery of new elements which might contribute effectively for peace in interpersonal relations; suscitates and develops senses that could integrate and serve fertile ground for the ethic of care the promotion of resiliency the relations of respect and of care to the others in an education faced to hope.

In particular, this research explored the concept of turnover intentions by investigating the mediating effects of job satisfaction and psychological capital amongst a sample of 70 employees involved in the tourism industry. The study highlights that employees within the tourism industry within the Western Cape were the most satisfied with work content, and the least satisfied with leadership / supervision. The results emanating from the current study indicate that there is a strong, inverse relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention amongst tourism employees in the Western Cape. Furthermore, the study revealed that a statistically significant, inverse relationship exists between psychological capital and turnover intention. Multiple regression analysis revealed these variables significantly explained the variance in turnover intention.

We live in a time of hopelessness, a world inside out to utopias, in a lack of hope. The promise of better life and abundant that the capitalist system, with its consumer society, has pledged not been fulfilled in its fullness in modernity, or rather not for everyone. Despair, existential frustration, violence became urgent topics among the concerns of various knowledge areas. In this particular field is part of this work, which aimed to understand the production of the dreams of young participants of the Fundação Casa Grande, located in Nova Olinda, Ceará. "Dreams" here understood as existential dimensions of the projects, therefore, to have well agreed. The doctoral research was developed within the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação, Faculdade de Educação (FACED), Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), the line of research Social Movements, Popular Education and the School, specifically in the thematic area Education Environment, Youth, Art and Spirituality, under the guidance of Professor Ercilia Maria Braga de Olinda. The complexity of the issue required a constructive approach in which theory, methodology and experiences of those involved (the researcher and subject) were woven together in a perception of wholeness. The context in which the object is inserted in an interwoven social and economic relationships and cultural special. Nova Olinda is a small town with HDI, according to the IBGE, the lowest in the region of Cariri. There she finds the institution that houses the young subjects of research. The Casa Grande Foundation Memorial Human Kariri - NGO created in 1992, purports to be "a school of cultural management that has as its mission to educate children and youth programs through the backwoods of Memory, Communication, Arts and Tourism." The subjects of this study collaborators were among the young participants of that institution. The theoretical mediation on intellectuals as Zygmunt Bauman, Boaventura Sousa Santos, Marie-Christine Josso, Antonio Novoa, Ercilia Braga, Alfonzo Farms, Peter Singer, Enrique Dussel, Humberto Maturana, José Tavares, Paulo Freire, Ernst Bloch, Erich Fromm and others. The methodological approach was interdisciplinary; used to search (auto) biography, both in theoretical and in the procedural aspects, the history of the research can be called a qualitative, collaborative, formative and existential modus how to produce science in which the core is in the person and human life as a major source of all existence. Techniques were used as narrative interview, circles and reflective observation of areas of the organization studied. The narratives expressed youth ways to be hopeful about what-does-not-come-to-be. Showed the action of resilient youth. The thesis is a reflection on the production of dreams as an opportunity to build - in the words of Ernst Bloch - what-does-not-become-good; at last, demonstrate that to dream is a way to contrapose the determination of destiny.
Vivemos um tempo de desespero, num mundo avesso às utopias, ou seja, numa carência de esperança. A promessa de vida melhor e abundante que o sistema capitalista, com sua sociedade de consumo, prometeu, não se cumpriu em sua plenitude na modernidade, ou melhor dizendo, não para todos. Desespero, frustração existencial, violência passaram a ser temas urgentes dentre as preocupações das diversas áreas do conhecimento. Nesse terreno especial se inscreve este trabalho, que teve por objetivo compreender a produção de sonhos dos jovens participantes da Fundação Casa Grande, localizada em Nova Olinda, Ceará. “Sonhos” aqui entendidos como dimensões dos projetos existenciais, portanto, que se têm bem acordados. A pesquisa de doutorado foi desenvolvida no âmbito do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Faculdade de Educação (FACED), da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), na linha de pesquisa Movimentos Sociais, Educação Popular e Escola, especificamente no eixo temático Educação Ambiental, Juventude, Arte e Espiritualidade, sob a orientação da Professora Ercilia Maria Braga de Olinda. A complexidade da temática exigiu uma abordagem construtiva, em que teoria, metodologia e experiências dos envolvidos (pesquisador e sujeitos) foram tecidas juntas numa percepção de totalidade. O contexto em que se inseriu o objeto é um imbricado de relações sócio-econômicas e culturais especiais. Nova Olinda é um pequeno município com IDH, conforme o IBGE, dos mais baixos da região do Cariri. Ali se localiza a instituição que abriga os jovens sujeitos desta pesquisa. A Fundação Casa Grande Memorial do Homem Kariri – ONG criada em 1992, se propõe ser “uma escola de gestão cultural que tem como missão educar crianças e jovens do sertão através dos programas de Memória, Comunicação, Artes e Turismo”. Os sujeitos colaboradores deste trabalho foram alguns dos jovens participantes da referida instituição. A mediação teórica apoiu-se em intelectuais como Zygmunt Bauman, Boaventura de Sousa Santos, Marie-Christine Josso, Antonio Nòvoa, Ercilia Braga, Alfonzo Quintás, Peter Singer, Enrique Dussel, Humberto Maturana, José Tavares, Paulo Freire, Ernst Bloch, Erich Fromm e outros. A abordagem metodológica foi transdisciplinar; recorreu à pesquisa (auto)biografia, tanto nos fundamentos teóricos quanto no aspecto procedimental; a trajetória da pesquisa pode ser denominada de qualitativa, colaborativa, formativa e existencial como modus de produzir ciência em que a centralidade está na pessoa humana e na vida como fonte maior de toda a existência. Foram usadas técnicas como: entrevista narrativa, círculos reflexivos e observação dos âmbitos da organização pesquisada. As narrativas juvenis expressaram modos de ser esperançosos, acerca do que-ainda-não-veio-a-ser. Mostraram a ação de jovens resilientes. A tese é uma reflexão sobre a produção de sonhos, como uma oportunidade de construir – no dizer de Ernst Bloch – o que-ainda-não-se-tornou-bom, enfim, demonstra que sonhar é uma forma de se contrapor ao determinismo do destino.

Para tal, foi assente na hipótese de que a formação em auto-liderança teria um impacto positivo sobre o capital psicológico dos trabalhadores ao longo do tempo. A fim de testar as nossas hipóteses realizámos um estudo de campo longitudinal quasi-experimental, com 34 empregados de uma empresa Portuguesa de Handling. Os resultados das análises de medidas repetidas apoiaram as nossas hipóteses iniciais, embora apenas para a resiliência e optimismo. Para ambas as variáveis a formação em auto-liderança demonstrou um impacto positivo ao longo do tempo. No entanto, para o caso da auto-eficácia e esperança não foi encontrado nenhum efeito da formação em auto-liderança. No geral, esta pesquisa contribuiu para ganhar mais conhecimento sobre o papel que a formação em auto-liderança desempenha no desenvolvimento do capital psicológico dos trabalhadores. Além disso, são discutidas as implicações deste estudo para a literatura e a prática destas intervenções aumentarem tal capital.
This study examines the impact of self-leadership training on psychological capital – (self-efficacy, hope, optimism, resilience). We hypothesized that self-leadership training would have a positive impact on the psychological capital of workers over time. In order to test our hypotheses, we conducted a quasi-experimental longitudinal field study with 34 employees of a Portuguese handling organization. The results from a repeated measures analysis supported our initial hypotheses only for resilience and optimism. For both of these variables self-leadership training was found to have a positive impact over time. However, for the case of self-efficacy and hope no effect of self-leadership training was found. Overall, this research contributes towards gaining more insights into the role that self-leadership training plays in the development of workers psychological capital. Furthermore, the implications of this study for the literature and practice on and of these interventions that increase such capital are discussed.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis work aims at understanding hope’s beneficial effects in physical and sports activities. After ensuring the viability and sustainability of Snyder’s hope model (Snyder et al., 1991, 1996) through a validated measurement tool, we tried to identify how hope contributes to success in physical education at school, and hope’s beneficial effects on students’ performance and resilience during a cycle ergometer session. The experimentation results prove Snyder’s hope model reliability from an empirical viewpoint, despite the reservations about its theoretical validity. In a school context, trait hope enables to predict their cycle-end grades, through a mediation of state hope and perceived ability. This data corroborates the existence of a hierarchical model in the concept of hope. Furthermore, hope can also be associated to better performance in experimental situation, after receiving a failure feedback. By having a protective effect on the result perception, hope offers a better resilience, immediately after the feedback. Thanks to the diversified contexts and methods, our research brings light on hope’s effects and consequences in physical and sports activities, and more generally speaking, on the relevance of this yet unknown theory that should be developped and extended to other study populations and contexts

The purposes of this study were to design the”Hope-Program” for the fifth graders students and to investigate its immediate and continuous effects on hope and resilience. Two classes of the fifth graders were participated in a pretest and posttest quasi-experimental design. There were 34 students in the experimental group class and another 34 students in the control group class. Students in the experimental group participated the hope program which makes students experience agency thinking, pathways thinking, and resilience for 9 weeks, 80 minutes/week. The testing to examine the effects of the program were “The Children’s Hope Scale” and “Resilience Scale for Elementary School Students”. In addition, the learning sheets and homework filled by group members was analyzed as the qualitative data. These research main results were as following: 1.”Hope-Program” there was immediate effects of hope for the fifth graders. 2.“Hope-Program” effective recover some resilience for the fifth graders. 3.“Hope-Program” was successful transform of hope theory, but it must extened of curriculum of time, and resilience into the curriculum. Finally, the thesis based on the previous research and made several suggestions for the implementation of curriculum programs and hopes that future research.

Objectives: To examine the effects of an 8-week hope-theory-based group intervention on hope, resilience, and depression in Taiwanese female victims of intimate partner violence (IPV). Methods: A two-group, quasi-experimental design with repeated measures was used. Twenty-nine participants were recruited from a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center and a Women’s Association that provides support services to abused women in southern Taiwan. The experimental group (n = 10) was given 8 weeks of hope-theory-based group intervention; the comparison group (n = 19) had no intervention. Participants chose which group they were in. The effects of the intervention on the participants’ hope, resilience, and depression were compared at baseline, at 2 months, and at 3 months. A demographic questionnaire, the Adult State Hope Scale, the Wagnild & Young Resilience Scale for adults, and the Taiwanese Depression Questionnaire were used in this study. Data were analyzed using Chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests, and a two-way mixed-design ANOVA. Results: Two experimental-group participants and 3 comparison-group participants quit the study; thus, data from 24 participants were analyzed. Depression scores were significantly lower in the experimental group after the intervention. Compared with the comparison group, only pathway of hope subscales were significantly different. Despite nonsignificant differences in the measurement of hope and resilience, the 3-month follow-up scores were higher than the baseline scores, which showed an improvement trend. Conclusions: A hope support group specially designed for female victims of IPV effectively reduced symptoms of depression.
