Der volle Inhalt der QuelleProgramming is a relatively new element in the school, which teachers should work with. My perception is that teachers have mixed reactions about programming and its content. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of creating an understanding of teachers’ knowledge in programming in mathematics teaching in grade 1-3. Three questions were used to achieve the aim of this study, they are: what knowledge and competence do teachers in mathematics have in programming, what knowledge do teachers have of the subject matter in the curriculum in relation to programming, and how teachers work with the content programming in mathematics teaching. The study is an interview study that has been used to gather information about the teachers' knowledge in programming. In total, five teachers were interviewed, of whom 4 worked in grades 1-3 and one in grade 4. The theoretical framework MKT were used to collect the data, interview and for the analysis of the data. The result has shown that it is a benefit if the teachers know words and concepts that are used in programming and how different programming tools works. Furthermore, the results shows how the teachers' worked with programming and how it can be used in teaching mathematics.

The research was conducted in the database ERIC (Ebsco). Results showed that students mathematical knowledge has an impact on the learning of programming, and that understanding of programming concepts increases with age. Also, teachers’ skills in programming is vital for the quality of the education.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleProgramming is a subject that has recently been added to the curriculum in the Swedish school system. Both school and our society are heading towards a more digitalised day-to-day life. The future will require more digital competence and school needs to follow along this development. Programming is one part of this digital competence growth. The aim of this study is to examine what the intentions of teachers who teach programming to young students are. It will also examine what factors affect these intentions. In order to collect data for this study, six active teachers have been interviewed. The interviews were analysed within a theoretical framework based on determinants, intentions and actions. The results of the study have shown that the two main intentions are to prepare the pupils for the digitalised world in the future and to further the growth of various mathematical abilities. The factors that affect the intentions are the teachers’ own knowledge of the subject, the opportunities they saw when teaching programming, access to material and the curriculum and time to plan the lessons.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleStarting in the fall of 2018, programming is a part of the Swedish curriculum for mathematics and has been placed under the core content for algebra. Even though it is not obligatory until the fall, some teachers have already started teaching about programming using apps as a digital learning resource. How well do the programming apps fit with the curriculum for mathematics, and how suitable are they to be used in primary school education? With these questions in mind an analysis was made of 14 programming apps for children 6-10 years old. The study is a qualitative content analysis with an analysis model based on the curriculum for mathematics, theories about pre-algebra and criteria that teachers believe to be important in the choice of a good app. The study shows that the apps’ suitability for mathematics education vary, but it is the apps that are designed as games that fit best with the curriculum for mathematics. These apps also have the pedagogical design that suits best for primary school education. The study’s results question the choice of placing programming under algebra in the curriculum, since the connection between the areas is not quite clear.
