This study tested a conceptual model of adolescents’ feelings of privacy invasion derived from CPM. Specifically, goals were to describe adolescents’ expectations of privacy, to describe how often adolescents are exposed to behaviors that threaten privacy, and to test privacy beliefs, potentially invasive behaviors, and having things to hide as predictors of individual differences in feelings of privacy invasion. Furthermore, each question and hypothesis was examined across four privacy domains and four relationships to determine whether privacy functions similarly or uniquely across domains and relationships. Participants were 118 adolescents (59% female), ranging from age 15 to 18 years of age (M age = 16.4 years, SD = .78). Results indicate that adolescents expect more privacy around their personal information than they expect around domains more aligned with parental monitoring. Sharing personal information elicited the greatest feelings of privacy invasion. The present study found some support the CPM based conceptual model. Adolescents expect information contained within the boundaries to remain private and intrusions into these boundaries elicit feelings of privacy invasion. Additionally, the current study found evidence to support the alternative model that the threat of discovery also elicits feelings of privacy invasion.

There is a strong mainstream interest in the tech world for voice interaction, in parts thanks to the technological advancements in the field and the use of big data which in some cases make speech recognition on par with humans. The aim of this paper is to explore the relationship between voice interaction and privacy. Two prototypes on voice interaction of bank services were created, they had differences in feedback, correctness and need of physical interaction. Twelve participants were instructed to perform tasks like checking balance and transferring money with the prototypes. Then they were asked about their relation to privacy in the context of their previous experiences with voice interaction and the two prototypes they used. The results show that what was perceived as private and the need for privacy varied a lot between the participants. In the end a respectful and empowering design to voice interaction is proposed in which the user could customize how the application provides feedback by adding contextual sensitivity e.g. using GPS to know if you are home, or a camera to know if you are looking at the device.
Det finns ett starkt intresse inom IT-branschen för röstinteraktion, delvis tack vare de teknologiska framstegen inom området, och användandet av stora mängder data vilket i vissa fall gör röstigenkänning likställd med människor. Målet med denna rapport är att utforska förhållandet mellan röstinteraktion och personlig integritet. Två prototyper för röstinteraktion av banktjänster skapades, de hade olika återkoppling, korrekthet och behov av fysisk interaktion. Tolv deltagare instruerades att utföra uppgifter såsom att kontrollera kontobalansen och överföra pengar med hjälp av prototyperna. De svarade sedan på frågor om deras relation till personlig integritet i sammanhanget av deras tidigare upplevelser med röstinteraktion och de två prototyper de provat. Resultatet visar att vad som upplevs som privat, och behovet av personlig integritet, varierade mycket mellan deltagarna. I slutändan föreslås en respekterande och stärkande design av röstinteraktion i vilken användaren kan skräddarsy hur applikationen ger återkoppling genom att lägga till kontextuell känslighet t.ex. genom GPS för att veta om du är hemma, eller en kamera för att veta om du tittar på enheten.

This thesis examines how English law has, and has not, balanced celebrities’ legal expectations of informational and seclusional privacy against the press and media’s rights to inform and publish. Much of the litigation that developed the English laws of privacy has been celebrity-generated by those with the financial resources to seek out and utilize privacy regimes and remedies in ways not immediately available to ordinary members of the public. The media, generally, has had the resources to present the relevant counter-arguments. Privacy protection was initially afforded to celebrities by breach of confidence and copyright. While public interest and “fair dealing” defences developed within English law, there was no underlying or consistent practical element in legislative or judicial thinking to promote a balance between the competing interests of protection and interference. That practical element, the concept of proportionality, developed in the Convention case-law of the ECtHR in Strasbourg during the 1950s. It was not until the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) that English legislators and the UK judicial system began to reflect and apply its consequences. Arriving at proportionate results and decisions – particularly in the realms of privacy - requires both the engagement of the rights that are sought to be maintained as well as a careful balancing exercise of these rights both internally and vis-à-vis each other. Because celebrities, with their Article 8 concerns, and the media, with Article 10 arguments, seek for their causes to prevail, the ways in which legislation and litigation now resolves matters is by the “ultimate balancing test” of proportionality. Proportionality is the measure within this thesis that is constant from chapter to chapter, highlighting, respectively, where the application of proportionality and balance might have produced different results as regimes developed historically and where new developments were needed to accommodate its requirements when it was apparently absent.

Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar se valores pessoais e tipos motivacionais apresentados por estudantes de uma universidade privada do município de Cabo Frio (RJ) são condizentes com as suas expectativas de carreira. Como principal referencial teórico, foram utilizados o Inventário de Valores Pessoais e os dez Tipos Motivacionais apregoados por Schwartz (2005). A investigação foi realizada através da aplicação de questionários com o objetivo de coletar informações sobre as expectativas de carreira dos universitários. Foram pesquisados estudantes dos dois últimos períodos de seus respectivos cursos. Fizeram parte da pesquisa alunos de graduações em Administração de Empresas e Direito, alocadas na área de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas; Sistema de Informação e Engenharia do Petróleo e Gás, pertencentes à área de Ciências Exatas; Fisioterapia e Gestão Ambiental, incluídas na área de Ciências Biológicas/Saúde. As conclusões mostraram que, em diferentes escalas, os valores pessoais e tipos motivacionais estão relacionados às expectativas de carreira dos graduandos pesquisados, independentemente da área de conhecimento em que estão inseridos. Recomenda-se, para futuras pesquisas, que seja analisado o desempenho dos recém-formados inseridos no mercado de trabalho, como forma de verificar a concretização de suas expectativas de carreira.
The aim of this study is to analyze if human values and motivational types presented by students of a private university in the city of Cabo Frio (RJ) agree with and determine the fulfilment of their career expectations. The Human Values System and the Ten Motivational Types proclaimed by Schwartz (2005) were used as the main theoretical reference. The investigation was accomplished through the use of questionnaires with the goal to collect information about the students’ career expectations. Senior students in their last year of study were investigated. Students in this research were: undergraduate students in Business Administration and Law, allocated in the area of Social Sciences Applied; Information System and Oil and Gas Engineering, which belong to Exact Sciences; Physiotherapy and Environmental Management, included in the Biological Sciences. Conclusions showed that, in different scales, human values and motivational types are related to students’ career expectations, irrespective of their knowledge area. For future researches, it is recommended that the performance of newly graduated students inserted in the job market is analyzed, as a way to verify the fulfilment of their career expectations

This work is in line with the main theme in our seminar ‘The City and the urban subject in English and American Literature’. In the course of it we have studied the first appearance of the urban subject, amazed by the new metropolitan surroundings that he finds himself in. Then comes the Fláneur who observes, sometimes as an outsider, the new bohemian life in the big cities and finally cannot find a place to fit in the crowd, or either enjoying the crowd in their loneliness. In literature, the cities are built up by the narrator; here is where detail shows its power to set full images in our minds. Cities we know as the back of our hands and like to wander to recall the past, cities we meet for the first time and would like to walk all over, and cities we knew when they were great and now we find destroyed. That we have studied concerning the city. However, this present work is almost entirely related to the urban subject and how they manage to live in the ever-growing city.

Parental input and participation on curricular decisions influence the educational process in private schools. Parental participation in the development and continual examination of the curriculum is essential to maintaining an educational environment that reflects the ideals and goals of all of the stakeholders. However, parents often have differing ideas from schools on what the curriculum should encompass. The problem facing private school leaders is how to negotiate the tensions resulting from conflicting parental expectations for the curriculum of the school. Literature is reviewed surrounding the main research question for this study: how do school leaders respond to the differences in expectations for curriculum between parents and private secondary schools? Areas of the literature reviewed include the purpose of education, the curriculum development process in schools and the role of educational leadership in the curriculum development process. The overall research design of this study is framed by a qualitative methodology that includes a multiple-site case study that aims to create a better understanding of the dynamics of parental influences on curriculum in private schools. Data from the Upper Schools of three private schools in a metropolitan area were collected over the period of one academic semester from a variety of sources, including interviews, observations and document analysis. The emerging themes were constructed around the current and past knowledge of informants within the context of the social interactions of the stakeholders in the three schools. Several significant findings resulted from this study, which provides a framework to understand how school leaders negotiate parental curriculum expectations. These findings include parental influence and expectations, the distinction between leadership with the curriculum versus the co-curriculum, and the factors influencing the negotiation of curriculum conflict. This inquiry is important because it creates a dialogue among the stakeholders who influence curriculum in private schools. The results of this study help school leaders understand the influences of parents on the curriculum of their schools and offer practical suggestions for private school leaders on how to negotiate the differences in expectations for curriculum between parents and private secondary schools.

The thesis will conclude by identifying issues that courts and legislatures will have to address in the coming years to adequately deliver justice in a dynamic society that is prone to powerful technological change.; Though the Internet and social media are fairly recent developments, the legal principles and issues embodied in them are well-represented in the Constitution. Take, for example, the freedom of expression enumerated in the First Amendment. Though traditionally in print, pamphlets, and film, recent developments in technology such as Facebook and blogs have become the new standard forms of communication. Like the physical mediums that arose before them, issues arise of what limits, if any, should be placed on the speech. Given the guise of anonymity, people on the Internet have less accountability in the comments they make, which has led to things ranging from passionate political speech to what is known as cyber-bullying, which is online harassment that has led people to suicide. This thesis, however, will primarily focus on the Fourth Amendment's reasonable expectation of privacy. Because the information involved with the Internet and social media is digital, it is more difficult to identify when privacy has been breached. With a paper envelope, for example, one can tell if the seal was broken and the contents were potentially disclosed to an unwanted party. Electronically, however, no such seal exists to notify the sender or recipient of a communication. Furthermore, the Government has found itself under stricter scrutiny for searches with these new developments in technology; the lack of physical intrusion poses difficult questions for courts that must decide how far a reasonable expectation of privacy goes in the social media age. The thesis will also address how private companies obtain and use individuals' information through the services they provide and the issues that arise from them. Private companies have fewer restrictions than the Government, and both perspectives are important to keep in mind when trying to understand the policy implications rapid technological growth has brought about.

The Age of Data has quickly constructed a world where secrecy is a myth and privacy is an idea clouded in insecurity and dishonesty. In this Thesis, I explore the realm of "privacy" and its different contextual meanings. Relying on various sources to expand on privacy, I will view the issue of privacy in American social, historical, governmental, and most importantly, legal contexts. I will be using modern terms such as Big Data, metadata, and "The Surveillance State" to narrow down our understanding of why privacy is important and how these terms have created an entirely different way of thinking about the world. Can our everyday data use (i.e. text messages, phone calls, internet search history) be infringed upon? If so, on what legal grounds? Traditional and modern privacy concerns are important to acknowledge here as well. Further research, backed by history, relevant literature, and modern legal rules, is especially vital to our understanding of data as a private "thing," how privacy is protected, and whether we are willing to give our privacy away. Is there an expectation of privacy in America today that embraces everything we want kept private?

The proceedings of the conference are concerned with the requirements for archives arising due to new technologies. O presente estudo inicia-se com uma reconstituição da história dos cursos superiores de administração de empresas no Brasil, visando um objetivo preciso: localizar, no interior das hierarquias existentes no ensino superior e, especialmente, no ensino da administração, uma escola superior do setor privado em São Paulo (capital). Nessa escola aqui designada como Universidade A é que se inserem os formandos de administração de empresas que participaram desta investigação. A partir do lugar ocupado no campo acadêmico pela administração lugar no qual são combinados paradoxalmente saberes e práticas que se encontram na tensa fronteira entre dois mundos antagônicos (o do homo academicus e o do homo oeconomicus) , afirma-se que a Universidade A está localizada num espaço ainda mais fronteiriço (do ponto de vista científico) do que o ocupado pelas escolas de administração tradicionais e/ou de prestígio neste campo específico do ensino superior. Considerando-se que as escolas de administração ocupam uma posição subordinada no mundo da academia, a Universidade A, tida como uma escola sem tradição no ensino da administração, localiza-se, portanto, em um lugar duplamente subordinado, situado na margem da margem do sistema institucional de ensino superior. Depois de definir a posição da Universidade A no campo do ensino superior em geral e, posteriormente, no campo do ensino da administração, este estudo explora qualitativamente os sentidos da educação superior e, em particular, do ensino de administração, junto a alunos formandos com baixo capital econômico e sem tradição escolar que se encontram nesse campo acadêmico duplamente marginal. Por fim, o trabalho aqui apresentado busca compreender como esses formandos em administração de empresas respondem e reagem individualmente isto é, no plano micro de sua experiência específica às recentes transformações macro-sociais (decorrentes do processo mais amplo de reestruturação produtiva) em termos de práticas, escolhas e expectativas a partir dos espaços sociais nos quais eles estão situados e transitam.
The present study begins with the reconstitution of the history of Higher Education Business Administration courses in Brazil, and aims at localizing one specific São Paulo-based private-sector school within the existing hierarchies in Higher Education and within the Business Administration Education field. All the students who took part in this investigation belong to this school referred to as University A. In regard to the position of Business Administration within the academic field a field which paradoxically combines knowledges and practices found in the tense boundaries between two antagonist worlds (homo academicuss and homo oeconomicuss) University A stands in an even more (scientifically) borderline space, in comparison to traditional or more prestigious schools. Considering that Administration Schools remain in a subordinate position in the academic world, a less traditional school such as University A is held in a doubly subordinate position, on the margins of the established Higher Educational system. After defining the position of University A within the Higher Education field and, subsequently, within the Business Education field, the present research explores qualitatively the senses of Higher Education and, specifically, Business Administration Education by students with low-economic capital and without schooling tradition, who find themselves in this doubly marginal field. Finally, the research aims at understanding how such Business Administration students respond and react individually i.e. in the micro-plan of their specific experience to recent social macro-changes (due to the broader process of productive restructuring) in terms of practices, choices and expectations, based on the social spaces in which they are situated.

The study of the Rational Expectations Hypotesis (REH) had its beginning after the 1960’s, setting the economic agents’ rationality as the theoretical base. The economic agents settle their expectations according to the current economic outlook; therefore, the economic environment becomes an important factor in shaping the entrepreneurs’ expectations, since great part of the decisions which entrepreneurs take occur in an economic scenario more uncertain. This dissertation aims to analyse the influence of the brazilian entrepreneurs’ expectations index in the transformation industry sector over the private investment, as well as the employment level in this industry. The period taken to be analysed is 2003-2017, and the data is monthly. The econometric model used to calculate the influence was estimated by the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results show that the entrepreneurs’ expectations index in the processing industry sector had a considerable influence over the decisions of private investment and the level of employment in that sector in Brazil. Thus, a stable economic scenario leads to an increase in the level of confidence in the industry sector, which can stimulate the growth in the industrial sector output and in several other sectors throughout the country.
O estudo da Hipótese das Expectativas Racionais (HER) iniciou-se após os anos de 1960, tendo como princípio a racionalidade dos agentes. Os agentes econômicos formulam suas hipóteses e expectativas com base no contexto econômico atual; logo, o ambiente econômico torna-se um fator influente na formação das expectativas empresariais visto que, na maioria das vezes, a tomada de decisão dos empresários ocorre em um ambiente de incerteza. O presente estudo tem a finalidade de analisar a influência do índice de expectativas dos empresários brasileiros da indústria de transformação sobre o investimento privado e o emprego desta indústria. O período compreendido no estudo é de 2003 a 2017, com a base de dados mensal. Para avaliar os resultados, o método econométrico utilizado foi estimado pelo Modelo Vetor de Correção de Erros (VECM). Os resultados apontam que, no período estudado, o índice de expectativas dos empresários da indústria de transformação influenciou as decisões relacionadas com o investimento privado e com o emprego das indústrias de transformação do país. Sendo assim, um cenário econômico estável proporciona um aumento da confiança dos empresários industriais, fazendo crescer sua expectativa em relação a seus negócios futuros e à economia do país e proporcionando um aumento de seus investimentos industriais, que podem impulsionar o crescimento da atividade do setor industrial e das demais atividades econômicas do país.

Sustainability has become one of the key issues facing today’s organisations. Poor risk management, excessive compensation and greed have opened the behaviour of organisations to the eyes of the world and have called in corporate disclosures to date. While an increase of disclosure in non-financial reports has been noted, there is little evidence to suggest that the investment community is using this information to make informed investment decisions. The goal of this research was to draw attention to the importance of alignment of non-financial information between organisations and the investment community, in order to ultimately encourage responsible investment. This was done by way of a three-phase endeavor that delivered: • A best-practice framework for the communication of non-financial performance by organisations • An assessment of six South African organisations and their communication of non-financial information, specifically with their investment community • An assessment of six investment firms’ perceptions and expectations of non-financial performance communication in South Africa The study highlighted the importance of engaging the investor community in order to understand their expectation of non-financial performance information, thus rendering non-financial reports useful to the investment community and progressing the responsible investment movement in South Africa. This mixed methods study investigated teacher, parent, and school leader perceptions of the impact of parent communications and expectation on teacher practices, focusing specifically on four categories: grading, communication, instructional, and curriculum practices. Quantitative data were collected through online surveys from 25 teachers in second through fifth grades, as well as 96 parents of second through fifth-graders, in five private Jewish day schools located in the Southeastern United States. Qualitative data were collected from ten teachers, ten parents, and three school leaders who provided interviews, where they elaborated on the nature of parental communications and expectations at their own schools and their perceptions of their impact on teacher practices.

The findings indicated that parent communications take place with high frequency, and are initiated fairly evenly between parents and teachers. Parents and teachers differ on their perceptions of negativity of communications, with teachers reporting more negative communications than parents. A t-test was conducted on the survey items that corresponded with the four categories to compare parent and teacher responses. There were some statistically significant differences in the perceptions of parents and teachers of the impact of particular types of parent communications on teacher practices in private Jewish day schools. These included requests for reviews of a child's grade or a grade change, as well as requests for changes in the content of homework. However, the qualitative data overwhelmingly indicated that parents and teachers have similar perceptions of the impact of parents communications and expectations. They felt that parents occasionally request certain changes, but that these changes have minimal impact in the classroom, outside of isolated, individual events. The school leaders who participated in the study agreed that, for the most part, the day-to-day practices of teachers were not greatly impacted by parent communications.

Numerous empirical studies outside of forestry have analyzed the role of price expectations in different decision processes. Empirical studies using price expectations in forestry research is a relatively new field of endeavor. Past studies have typically ignored or given cursory treatment to the role of price expectations. This study provides a review of studies in forestry that have attempted to incorporate price expectations into model formulations. Models are then developed to explain the short-run harvest, and long-run regeneration expenditure decisions by the non-industrial private forest owner, incorporating different distributed lag formulations to account for price expectations. The estimated models for the short-run harvest decision, using cross sectional non-aggregated data, indicates that price expectations play a significant role in this decision process. Therefore, price expectations should be incorporated in some form, (i.e. different forms of distributed lags), to properly specify models. Estimated models for the long-run regeneration expenditure decision indicates a weak link between economic variables and the regeneration decision. For both types of models, estimated coefficients for personal characteristics of landowners are in general considered insignificant, indicating the lack of influence that personal characteristics have on these decision processes

More than a century ago in their definitive work “The Right to Privacy” Samuel D. Warren and Louis D. Brandeis highlighted the challenges posed to individual privacy by advancing technology. Today’s workplace is characterised by its reliance on computer technology, particularly the use of email and the Internet to perform critical business functions. Increasingly these and other workplace activities are the focus of monitoring by employers. There is little formal regulation of electronic monitoring in Australian or United States workplaces. Without reasonable limits or controls, this has the potential to adversely affect employees’ privacy rights. Australia has a history of legislating to protect privacy rights, whereas the United States has relied on a combination of constitutional guarantees, federal and state statutes, and the common law. This thesis examines a number of existing and proposed statutory and other workplace privacy laws in Australia and the United States. The analysis demonstrates that existing measures fail to adequately regulate monitoring or provide employees with suitable remedies where unjustifiable intrusions occur. The thesis ultimately supports the view that enacting uniform legislation at the national level provides a more effective and comprehensive solution for both employers and employees. Chapter One provides a general introduction and briefly discusses issues relevant to electronic monitoring in the workplace. Chapter Two contains an overview of privacy law as it relates to electronic monitoring in Australian and United States workplaces. In Chapter Three there is an examination of the complaint process and remedies available to a hypothetical employee (Mary) who is concerned about protecting her privacy rights at work. Chapter Four provides an analysis of the major themes emerging from the research, and also discusses the draft national uniform legislation. Chapter Five details the proposed legislation in the form of the Workplace Surveillance and Monitoring Act, and Chapter Six contains the conclusion.

O presente estudo investigou o mercado de trabalho dos odontólogos, tendo em vista as transformações que vêm acontecendo no mundo do trabalho, e em particular no mercado de trabalho em saúde, nas últimas décadas. No contexto da economia globalizada e suas conseqüências para o trabalho, o objetivo foi analisar as mudanças do mercado de trabalho odontológico e as expectativas dos graduandos quanto ao seu futuro neste mercado no Brasil. Além da análise das transformações ocorridas ao longo de décadas, no mercado de trabalho específico, sob a ótica da oferta e da demanda; aplicou-se um questionário com 63 graduandos das universidades públicas e particulares do Rio de Janeiro que cumpriram o programa de estágio no SESC-RJ, Unidade Madureira, no ano de 2006. Os resultados demonstraram: grande concentração geográfica da oferta e da demanda; crescimento do setor de Saúde Suplementar; empresariamento da assistência odontológica; flexibilização das relações de trabalho com profissionais da mesma categoria; e procura pela ocupação no setor público, antes visto com ressalvas. Os graduandos apresentaram preferência por trabalho com vínculo empregatício formal e esta ocupação seria realizada simultaneamente à prática da profissão em consultórios odontológicos com pacientes particulares e advindos de convênios. Entretanto, vêem nas clínicas populares, uma opção para ingressar no mercado de trabalho, mesmo cientes dos percalços que possam encontrar. Concluímos que apesar dos graduandos idealizarem um vínculo empregatício formal, eles estão convictos de que experimentarão o que vem ocorrendo no mercado de trabalho dos odontólogos: a diminuição da prática liberal autônoma e a inserção nos postos de trabalho de forma flexibilizada. Acredita-se que o produto desta investigação possa contribuir na formulação de políticas de recursos humanos para o Sistema Único de Saúde, no âmbito da gestão de trabalho e da formação na área da saúde. This thesis examines the way in which the doctrine of legitimate or reasonable expectations has developed in the common law of England and Australia. The examination aims to show the role of expectations in the modern re-balancing of interests between the citizen and the Crown or government. The concept of expectations is examined both as it has developed into a doctrine in its own right, and as a theme which is shaping the development of other existing doctrines. i A preoccupation throughout the thesis is the way in which expectations are causing heightened standards of conduct from both the Crown or government when dealing with individual citizens, and from individual citizens dealing inter se. The traditional operation of many legal doctrines which have applied preferentially in favour of the Crown or government is examined. This tradition is exemplified in a limited way by the law relating to claims against the government, the principle of immunity of the Crown from statute, the law of estoppel and the law of restitution. Examination of the progressive reduction of such preferences exposes the significant role of the expectations concept in the re-balancing of the citizen-State relationship. The particular role and meaning of the "Crown", the "government" and the "administration" is central to the understanding of the preferential operation of certain doctrines. Consideration is given to the historic and current meaning of these institutions, their responsibilities and their relationship with the individual citizen. This examination helps to determine whether the role of such institutions has so changed as to justify the development of doctrines to accommodate new expectations. The development of the concept of expectations is examined in both public (or administrative) law and private law. In each sphere, the concept has developed differently, and distinct differences also emerge in the development of the concept by the English and Australian judiciary. These differences reveal important perceptions about the role of the courts in regulating governmental action, the capacity of the courts to develop new or existing legal principles, and the recognition changed expectations of individual citizens will be given in legal doctrine. In public law, the concept of expectations has developed into a distinct legal doctrine. The scope of the doctrine is examined, in particular whether it enables a substantive or merely procedural remedy to be granted where a person's expectation is disappointed. Barriers to the expansion of the scope of the doctrine are critically examined, and a solution proposed to enable the expansion of the doctrine without offence to the prineiples restricting such expansion. Additional issues of locus standi and the bodies subject to the doctrine oflegitimate expectations are reviewed, as well as the scope of the doctrine in European Community law. In private law, the concept of expectations is not an independent doctrine. It nevertheless discloses a powerful capacity to shape the development of existing doctrines so that they protect modern expectations. Unlike expectations in public law, private law doctrines can substantively protect legitimate or reasonable expectations. Consideration is given to the way in which developments in private law can or should influence developments in public law, so that the doctrine of legitimate expectations develops coherently and uniformly. Structure is given to expectations in private law by isolating the main usages of the concept. The usages of the concept are exemplifed by consideration of expectations in the law of contract, tort and equity. Use of the concept of expectations by the judiciary to expand the scope of existing doctrines and to develop new doctrines raises the question of the proper role of the judiciary in the review of governmental action. The propriety of judicial concern with governmental action and judicial law-making are considered. Other means of protecting expectations are examined, including constitutional guarantees, the Rule of Law, the theory of ministerial responsibility and fundamental principles of right and reason. . The close alignment of the expectations concept with the recent resurgence in legal reasoning of the language of morality is examined. Consideration of the place of the terminology of morality in the shaping of the law reveals a notable judicial development of the concept of the Crown or government as moral exemplar. This, combined with the expectations concept has carved out a large role for the place of legitimate or reasonable expectations in the law of England and Australia.

Changes in the higher education sector have forced private universities in Germany to reflect how they can best compete in the market, attract students, find their market niche and differ-entiate themselves from similar institutions. The recruitment of students at private universities is particularly difficult. This study explores which factors influence their selection and evalua-tion process. In order to better understand students’ expectations and experiences, the study compares the selection criteria of students at state and private universities. The results indicate the criteria which are relevant for students for and after enrollment at state and private univer-sities in Germany. Undergraduate students have often unrealistic expectations and therefore are often disappointed about their chosen university. The analysis of private university stu-dents’ selection criteria is important, as marketers can specifically develop and address their expectations and needs. The study reveals that different types of students apply different crite-ria for selecting and evaluating private universities. Based on an empirical study of 152 stu-dents at one state and one private university in Hamburg, the thesis shows similarities and dif-ferences between the selection and evaluation phases and between the two types of higher ed-ucation institutions. The statistical outcomes are based on a descriptive, a bivariate, an explor-ative factor and multivariate regression analysis. The developed conceptual recruitment and marketing model will support recruitment strategies at private universities. The study derives important implications for strategic marketing and management activities and student satisfac-tion management of higher education institutions in Germany. Moreover, recommendations for future studies are outlined. The expectations and experiences of students have not been analysed in depth at private universities in Germany. Data or studies which analyses the stu-dents selection and evaluation process and determine different types of students are missing for German private universities. Furthermore, reliable studies which also compare the selec-tion process for private and state universities in Germany are missing. Thus, the study helps to fill this important gap. Secondly, and on a practical nature, it is hoped that the study will pro-vide higher education practicioners with empirical evidence that can be used in future re-cruitment strategies.

El objetivo del documento es construir un indicador líder que permita anticiparse al dinamismo de la inversión privada considerando variables reales, indicadores de costo de financiamiento, expectativas, entre otras. Para ello, se emplearán diversas metodologías como componentes principales y factores dinámicos que permita obtener uno o más factores comunes que anticipen convenientemente a la inversión privada. Además, se buscará el número de factores óptimos y, luego, los mejores modelos explicativos para la inversión privada. Para identificar a estos modelos el documento considerará estadísticos tradicionales (como Akaike, Schwarz, R-cuadrado ajustado) y otras metodologías no convencionales (como las propuestas por Clark y McCracken (2001) y McCracken (2007)).Uno de los principales hallazgos es que la metodología de factores dinámicos es superior a otras metodologías para el caso peruano. Además, el modelo que considera 4 factores dinámicos y dos componentes auto-regresivos es superior a otras especificaciones evaluadas. Por último, se comparó el mejor modelo estimado contra los resultados obtenidos en la literatura reciente por Cuenca (2012) y Arenas y Morales (2013). El modelo estimado en este documento es superior a los estimados anteriormente y anticipa entre 3 y 5 meses el ciclo de la inversión privada. A pesar de ello, el modelo tendría limitaciones para proyectar el número exacto de inversión privada en periodos muy cortos.

This study arises from the need to re-think and organize the work to achieve the goals personal and institutional, as coordinator of graduate courses. The objective of this work was to contribute to the discussion on the roles of the coordinator in the course of private IES - Institutions of Higher Education. Specifically, we examine how these roles are characterized in the light of the demands of the market on the educational system. It was present: 1) the concepts on Brazilian higher education - the actual situation and the scenarios and trends - 2) the dimensions that interact in the definition of roles - such as the organizational culture, planning, decision-making, leadership , strategies, communication, in addition to the mission, institutional vision and beliefs - 3) the roles of the coordinator of course, according to two institutional managers: David F. Barros and Edson Franco, correlating them with managerial roles proposed by two authoritative researchers in management; Henry Mintzberg, Robert Quinn. Intend with this text make a few observations about the roles of the coordinator of course and practice the same, without the pretense of offering a comprehensive analysis and exclusive about this, not even define and design models. This paper was prepared by searching the literature, official documents of the MEC, the INEP and a private IES, in addition to the legislation and articles from various authors, both in the area of university management as of Education. Brings still the vision of the author on the subject, as a teacher and coordinator of higher education courses, to play such roles in IES private. It is, after analysis of texts and situations, the coordinator of course is assuming roles increasingly complex and that require a deeper implications on the performance of this work and in the definitions of institutional goals and objectives
Este estudo nasce da necessidade de re-pensar e organizar o trabalho, para atingir os objetivos pessoais e institucionais, enquanto coordenador de cursos de graduação. O objetivo deste trabalho foi contribuir para a discussão sobre os papéis do coordenador de curso nas IES Instituições de Ensino Superior privadas. Especificamente, estudar como se caracterizam esses papéis à luz das demandas do mercado sobre o sistema educacional. Procurou-se apresentar: 1)os conceitos sobre o ensino superior brasileiro o panorama atual e os cenários e tendências 2)as dimensões que interagem na definição desses papéis tais como: a cultura organizacional, o planejamento, o processo decisório, liderança, as estratégias, a comunicação, além da missão, visão e crenças institucionais 3)os papéis do coordenador de curso, segundo dois gestores institucionais: Davi F. Barros e Edson Franco, correlacionando-os com os papéis gerenciais propostos por dois conceituados pesquisadores em gestão; Henry Mintzberg e Robert Quinn. Pretende-se com este texto tecer algumas considerações sobre os papéis do coordenador de curso e a prática dos mesmos, sem a pretensão de oferecer uma análise abrangente e exclusiva sobre tal, nem mesmo definir e desenhar modelos. Este trabalho foi elaborado através de pesquisa da literatura, documentos oficiais do MEC, do INEP e de uma IES privada, além da legislação e de artigos de autores diversos, tanto na área de gestão universitária quanto de Educação. Traz ainda a visão do autor sobre o assunto, como professor e coordenador de cursos superiores, ao desempenhar tais papéis em IES privadas. Em Cabo-Verde, não existem Contas Nacionais numa base trimestral, que sejam consistentes para a economia caboverdiana e que sejam de acesso público. Esta situação dificulta a realização de estudos sobre a economia caboverdiana com base em dados trimestrais. Neste trabalho, procura-se trimestralizar o Consumo Privado e a Formação Bruta de Capital Fixo (FBCF), dois dos principais agregados das Contas Nacionais Anuais de Cabo-Verde, com base em técnicas de desagregação temporal com recurso a indicadores associados. Dado o elevado número de indicadores associados e o problema de escassez de graus de liberdade em virtude da reduzida dimensão da amostra (apenas 10 anos, cobrindo o período de 1998:1 a 2007:4), procura-se utilizar o Modelo de Análise Factorial Aproximado, de forma a modelar-se a covariabilidade das séries em termos de um número relativamente pequeno de factores latentes não observados e que reúna a informação de todos os potenciais indicadores. Além de um problema de escassez de graus de liberdade, o presente trabalho vai debruçar-se ainda sobre um problema de Missing Values e de outliers em algumas séries utilizando-se, como um meio de solucionar este problema, o Algoritmo "Expectation Maximization" (EM) na versão de Stock e Watson para a análise factorial. Apesar das limitações com que se deparou, os resultados encontrados foram em geral satisfatórios. As diferenças entre as séries trimestrais estimadas e as correspondentes séries anuais das contas nacionais foram em geral mínimas, reflectindo o facto dos valores anuais de referência estarem relativamente próximos dos valores anuais implícitos nos valores trimestrais.
Cape Verde doesn't have quarterly national accounts, which would be accessible for everyone. This imposes difficulties in making studies about Cape Verdean economy based on quarterly data. In this paper, we disaggregate the Private Consumption and Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF), two of the main aggregates of Annual National Accounts of Cape Verde, based on techniques for temporal disaggregation, using indicators as proxies. Given the large number of indicators using as proxies and the lack of degrees of freedom because of small sample size (only 10 years, covering the period from 1998:1 to 2007:4), we use the approximate factor analysis model in order to model the co-variability of the series in terms of a relatively small number of non observed latent factors which collects information from all potential indicators. Besides the lack of degrees of freedom, this paper will focus on the problem of Missing Values and outliers in some series, using the algorithm "Expectation Maximization" (EM) version of Stock and Watson for the factor analysis to solve this problem. Despite the limitations found, the results were generally satisfactory. The differences between the estimated quarterly series and the corresponding series of annual national accounts were generally minimal, reflecting the fact that the annual values of reference are relatively close to the annual values implicit in the quarterly figures.

In spite of improving the library performance (LP) of academic libraries (ALs) is based on a set of standards and criteria, improving the SPALs is relied on the vision of the ALs’ decision-makers; and subjected by a number of barriers that hinder improvement. This research aims to improve the LP of the Arab International University (AIU) in Syria. The focus is made to achieve improvement based on the end-users’ expectations and requirements (EUERs). Thus, identifying the EUERs is aimed in this research also. Data was collected by adopting a mixed methods approach, embraced to a single case study (LAIU). Primary quantitative data was collected by distributing two questionnaires to the end-users (undergraduates & academics). A printed-format questionnaire was designed for the undergraduates, while the academics’ questionnaire was designed using Smart-survey. The aim of these questionnaires was to understand the end-users’ perspectives, expectations, and their requirements of the LAIU. 11 semi-structured interviews were conducted with 8 librarians and 3 administrators to identify the situation of the LAIU, and understand the library staffs’ perspectives about the EUERs and end-users’ ISB. SOWT analysis was used to address the strengths, weakness, and threats facing the library, and their suggestions to improve the LP. Furthermore, the analysis of the secondary statistics collected from the LAIU and related websites took place in this study to support the primary data collected. A total of 228 undergraduates, and 30 academics have participated in this study. The data collected from the questionnaires were analysed using PASW software; version 18.0, while the collected data of the interviews was analysed thematically using NVivo 10.0 software. To maximise the outputs of the research and understand the holistic situation of the LAIU, the tools of the SSM were implemented. This assists in identifying the problematic areas of the situation. A number of challenges and barriers have been discovered relating to four categories: EUERs, end-users’ information-seeking behaviour, end-users’ satisfaction, and the LP. The analysis showed that although the EUERs are academic in the first place, there are differences regarding their demographic variables. It presented that end-users are not strongly satisfied with their LP. Furthermore, the findings reflected the need to improve the LP. They addressed the end-users’ behavior during their journey in seeking information. Based on the use of the rich picture, these barriers have been classified into internal and external barriers. The focus was limited to investigate internal barriers. Additionally, the implementation of the SSM’s tools helps in developing the root definitions and related conceptual models that led to improving the situation of the LAIU. This study contributes to establish an appropriate and vital strategy to improve the LP based on a set of recommendation driven from the implementation of the SSM’s tools. It contributes to generate the S-diamond model addressing the requirements of improvement. It develops a model of the end-users’ ISB in the SPALs. Furthermore, this study reflects a theoretical significance by providing unique findings discovering the relationships between the themes under the investigation (EUERs, LP, end-users’ ISB, and EUS).

Satisfaction is the customers' evaluation of a product or service in terns of whether that product or service has met their needs and expectations. Failure to meet needs and expectations is assumed to result in dissatisfaction with the product or service. Evidence also have shown that customer satisfaction and service quality perceptions affect consumer intentions to behave in other positive ways--praising the firm (school), preferring the company (university) over others, increasing their volume of purchases (recommending/encouraging others to attend), or agreeably paying a price premium (Zeithmai & Bitner, 2000). Zeithmal and Bitner, in their research, cited a study that found there to be strong links between service quality and other behavioral intentions of strategic importance to a university such as students saying positive things about the school, planning to contribute money to the class pledge upon graduation and planning to recommend the school to employers as a place from which to recruit. This research examines the gaps of students' perception to their expectations by analyzing the correlations between five dimensions (independent variables), mean gap scores and the overall satisfaction of the students surveyed. Also, the mean gap scores and students' intentions to behave particularly related to the recommendation of the business school to others is also examined. Additionally, the paper discusses how the school's leadership, faculty. and staff can promote and continue to improve quality services to its students and a recommendation for the approach for improvement.

Así mismo, se creyó conveniente, la aplicación de la metodología cualitativa descriptiva; por lo que respecta a la población estuvo conformada por 8 participantes, cuya muestra fue delimitada por los criterios de saturación y redundancia de datos, y el muestreo por conveniencia. Para la recolección de los datos, se utilizó como instrumento la guía de entrevista semiestructurada, la información obtenida fue procesada por análisis de contenido temático mediante una revisión exhaustiva de los discursos recolectados, los cuales fueron agrupados de acuerdo a su similitud, emergiendo de esta manera tres grandes categorías y dos subcategorías. Durante la investigación, se consideró los criterios de rigor científico y los principios de rigor ético. Como resultados se obtuvo agrado y desagrado por parte de los estudiantes de enfermería, quienes dilucidaron que en la malla curricular de enfermería tienen pocos cursos con enfoque comunitario, siendo limitado las horas de prácticas comunitarias intra y extramurales que ofrece las asignaturas. En conclusión, poca motivación entre los estudiantes hacia la APS, debido a las deficientes condiciones de trabajo y bajas remuneraciones del personal de salud.

Ainda que inexistente um mandamento legal expresso no Direito brasileiro, é intuitivo pensar a responsabilidade civil a partir da recondução da parte levada a um estado hipotético na qual estaria não fosse o evento que obriga à reparação. Esse pensamento, reiterado na afirmação de que a indenização deve reconstituir (mesmo que de maneira aproximativa) o status quo ante, corresponde à função compensatória da responsabilidade civil. Ocorre, porém, que no que toca ao dano patrimonial ocorrido no iter negocial (ou seja, na responsabilidade pré-negocial ou na negocial) haveria de se anotar que a situação hipotética sem o dano nem sempre é anterior ao evento lesivo, podendo ser posterior a ele. É o que se passa, com evidência, na indenização pelo equivalente ao descumprimento contratual, em que se confere ao credor lesado algo que ele não possuía antes, em lugar do cumprimento da obrigação. É essa dualidade de direcionamentos, vinculada a uma fórmula comparativa de obtenção do dano indenizável, que compõe o significado das expressões interesse (contratual) positivo e interesse (contratual) negativo. No primeiro caso, reconduz-se o lesado a uma situação positiva em relação ao contrato, que se poderia chamar de ad quem. Ela corresponde à situação em que o lesado estaria se o contrato houvesse sido adequadamente cumprido. No segundo caso, reconduz-se a parte a uma situação negativa em relação ao contrato, que se poderia chamar de a quo. Corresponde, por sua vez, à situação em que estaria não houvesse iniciado as negociações voltadas ao contrato. A dualidade representada por esse par de conceitos, proposto originalmente por Rudolf von Jhering em meados do século XIX, é ainda pouco explorada no Direito brasileiro, embora não se possa qualificá-la como desconhecida. Os conceitos mostram-se não apenas plenamente compatíveis com a regras de responsabilidade civil nacionais, como extremamente úteis à solução de problemas centrais localizados no diálogo entre esse ramo do Direito Civil e o Direito dos Contratos. É nesse locus que a tese se desenvolve, para sustentar a aplicabilidade dessa distinção ao Direito Privado brasileiro como, essencialmente, uma nova forma de pensar o dano in contrahendo e o dano contratual. A lógica da aplicação dos conceitos permite revisitar a forma pela qual usualmente se enxerga a relação jurídica de reparação e, não apenas, também reaviva a compreensão de aspectos essenciais da transformação do Direito das Obrigações, os quais compõem, em grande medida, o substrato da aplicação da distinção. Para tanto, buscou-se inicialmente fomentar a apresentação teórica do interesse positivo e do interesse negativo estudando seu significado, seus desenvolvimentos teóricos e sua adequação ao Direito brasileiro ao que se segue a proposição de sua aplicação. Dada as limitações do texto, essa depuração é realizada estritamente no âmbito da responsabilidade pela não formação do contrato (responsabilidade pré-negocial) e da responsabilidade negocial propriamente dita, compondo a segunda parte do trabalho.
Despite the absence of any express rule to this effect in Brazilian Law, it is nevertheless intuitive to think of civil liability as a commandment to restore the parties to the position each would have enjoyed if the event giving rise to liability had never occurred. This understanding of civil liability is frequently expressed as the idea that damages should bring the aggrieved party to the status quo ante, by way of compensating him for the damages suffered. In regards to material damages suffered during the contractual iter (i.e. in precontractual liability or in liability for breach of contract), one should notice that the hypothetical situation on which the party would be without the occurrence of damages is not always a situation that existed previous to its occurrence. That is exactly what occurs in damages in lieu of performance, by which the aggrieved party receives compensation for something he in fact never had before. This duality of directions can be understood by the expressions expectation interest and reliance interest. According to the former, the plaintiff must be placed in a positive situation vis-à-vis the contract, a status that can be called ad quem. In other words, the plaintiff will get his benefit of the bargain, and will obtain what he would have received if the contract had been correctly performed. According to the latter, the aggrieved party must be placed in a negative situation vis-à-vis the contract, which can be called an status a quo. This seeks to recreate the situation in which the plaintiff would have been if the contract had never even been formed or its negotiations had never been initiated. This way of thinking about damages or this pair of concepts was originally proposed by Rudolf von Jhering in the mid-nineteenth century. While its application is still little explored in Brazilian Law, it is not completely unknown to the Brazilian jurisprudence. Both of these theories as to the proper function of civil liability are compatible with Brazilian liability rules, and may indeed represent extremely useful solutions to some fundamental problems in modern discourse on civil liability rules and the law of contracts. It is precisely at here that this thesis is developed, advocating for the full applicability of the foregoing concepts in the Brazilian Private Law, thereby leading to a new way of thinking about damages, both in contrahendo and in contractu. The inherent logic of both concepts allows not only to revisit the usual framework by which the law of damages is considered and applied, but also underlines some major transformations in the Law of Obligations. In order to prove its suitability, this thesis initially presents the theoretical foundations of expectation interest and reliance interest, and reviews the meaning and development of these concepts in the context of examining their compatibility with Brazilian law. This is followed by an argument proposing the application of these theories in situations involving both precontractual liability and breach of contract.

Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre la satisfacción del paciente y la motivación académica del estudiante de odontología de pregrado en un centro universitario de salud de una universidad privada de Lima. Materiales y Métodos: El estudio fue transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 65 estudiantes de pregrado de Odontología, y 195 pacientes que acudieron por primera vez al centro de salud. (260 personas en total). El cuestionario SERVQUAL evaluó la satisfacción del paciente, y fue entregado en dos momentos: antes y después de la consulta odontológica. El EMA (escala de motivación académica) midió la motivación del estudiante, y fue entregada en una sesión para su llenado. Para la asociación de las variables principales (motivación académica y satisfacción) se realizó una regresión de Poisson con varianza robusta y se reportaron prevalencias crudas y ajustadas con todas las variables incluidas en el estudio, con un IC [95%]. Resultados: Se encontró un 62.05% (121) de pacientes satisfechos; y la mayoría de los estudiantes presentaron una motivación extrínseca alta con 76,92% (50). Se observó que los estudiantes con la motivación anteriormente mencionada tuvieron la mayor cantidad de pacientes satisfechos con un 77.50% (97). Sin embargo, no se encontró relación entre las variables. Conclusión: La mayoría de los pacientes estuvieron satisfechos con el servicio a pesar de que la mayoría de los estudiantes no se sentía motivado. No se encontró que la motivación académica esté asociada a la satisfacción del paciente.
Objective: To determine the association between patient satisfaction and academic motivation of the undergraduate dentistry student in a university health center of a private university in Lima. Methods: The study was cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 65 undergraduate dentistry students and 195 patients who attended the health center for the first time. (260 people in total). The SERVQUAL questionnaire evaluated patient satisfaction and was delivered in two moments: before and after the dental visit. The EMA (Academic Motivation Scale) measured student motivation and was delivered in one session to be filled out. For the association of the main variables (academic motivation and satisfaction), a Poisson regression with robust variance was performed and crude and adjusted prevalence were reported with all the variables included in the study, with a CI [95%]. Results: 62.05% (121) of satisfied patients were found; and most of the students presented high extrinsic motivation with 76.92% (50). It was observed that students with the aforementioned motivation had the highest number of satisfied patients with 77.50% (97). However, no relationship was found between the variables. Conclusion: Most of the patients were satisfied with the service even though the majority of the students did not feel motivated. Academic motivation was not found to be associated with patient satisfaction.

The prolific use of the internet and electronic mail within the legal profession presents novel challenges to the application of the attorney-client privilege; especially, in regards to protecting intended confidential communications relayed through e-mail. This thesis addresses the question of whether an attorney in Florida, through electronic mail use, can waive his client's right to the protections of the attorney-client privilege. After a review of current case law, law review articles, statutes, and texts, this thesis concluded that an attorney's communication through e-mail warrants a reasonable expectation of privacy, permitting the attorney to speak in reasonable confidence to clients through the web. However, attorneys, ethically, should consider the strong repercussions for using such a potentially transparent medium for communication. By examining the relationship between current law, the application of the attorney-client privilege, and a reasonable expectation of privacy, this study provides a comprehensive analysis for attorneys concerned with electronic mail usage. Lastly, this thesis provides attorneys with best practices for their electronic mail communications.

Att börja sin karriär som revisorsassistent på revisionsbyrå är eftertraktat hos många nyexaminerade studenter. De stora revisionsbyråerna i Sverige anställer årligen många nyexaminerade studenter till juniora roller så som revisorsassistent. Att anställa revisorsassistenter har därför visat sig vara enkelt men att behålla revisorsassistenter en längre period har visat sig mer problematiskt. Detta leder till att det finns en erkänt hög personalomsättning inom yrket vilket innebär att revisionsbyråerna behöver arbeta med att behålla medarbetare på byrån. Med hänsyn till problematiken är syftet med denna studie således att skapa förståelse för det arbete revisionsbyråerna vidtar för att behålla medarbetare och vad revisorsassistenterna anser betydande för att stanna inom byrån samt det förväntningsgap som finns däremellan. För att uppfylla studiens syfte och besvara forskningsfrågorna genomfördes en dokumentstudie som studerade års- och hållbarhetsredovisningar hos två av de största revisionsbyråerna i Sverige, detta för att skapa förståelse hur de arbetar med att behålla medarbetare. Utöver dokumentstudien genomfördes åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer med nuvarande samt tidigare revisiorsassistenter för att skapa förståelse för vad som är viktigt för att stanna på byrån utifrån deras perspektiv. Studiens viktigaste slutsatser är att förväntningsgapet mellan vad revisionsbyråerna arbetar med och vad revisiorsassistenterna efterfrågar till största del består av avsaknad av balans mellan privat-och arbetsliv som går hand i hand med den kultur som råder följt av mer verklighetstrogna förväntningar och i minst utsträckning utbildning och karriär. Utöver det kan studien även dra slutsatser kring varför det identifierade förväntningsgapet återfinns. Det studien har funnit är att det finns olika utgångspunkter till varför det återfinns en hög personalomsättning inom professionen mellan revisionsbyråer och revisorsassistenter. Detta leder till olika syn kring hur arbetet med att behålla medarbetare ska utformas. Utöver detta återfinns också skilda intressen mellan grupperna så som vinstintresse, resultat och balans i livet.
Starting your career as an audit associate at an auditing firm is sought after by many newly graduated students. The large auditing firms in Sweden annually employs many newly graduated students for junior roles such as audit associates. Hiring audit associates has therefore proved to be easy but retaining audit associates for a longer period has proved to be more problematic. This leads to a recognized high employee turnover in the profession, which means that the auditing firms need to work on retaining employees at the firm. Regarding the difficulties, the purpose of this study is thus to create an understanding of the work that the audit firms do to retain employees and what the audit associates consider significant for staying within the firm and the expectation gap that exists between them. In order to fulfill the purpose of this study and answer the research questions, a document study was conducted. Annual - and sustainability reports at two of the largest auditing firms in Sweden was studied, in order to create an understanding of how they work to retain employees. In addition to the document study, eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with current and former audit associates to create an understanding from their perspective and what they think is important to stay at the agency. The study's most important conclusions are that the expectation gap between what audit firms work with and what audit associates demand largely consists of work-life balance that goes hand in hand with a high-performing culture followed by more realistic expectations and to a lesser extent education and career. In addition, the study can also draw conclusions about why the identified expectation gap exists. The study has found that there is a different starting point to why there is a high employee turnover in the profession between auditing firms and auditing associates. This leads to different views on how the work of retaining employees should be constructed. In addition to this, there are also different interests between the groups, such as profit interest, results and work- life balance.

Identifying effective strategies for encouraging individuals to disclose their personal information on the Internet is important for marketers. In today's information-based economy, access to consumer data is imperative for organizations in conducting marketing activities. However, the extant privacy literature has found conflicting results regarding the effectiveness of safety cues (e.g., privacy policies) and rewards (e.g., discounts) for encouraging consumers to provide their personal information to Web sites (Andrade et al. 2002). There is also scant research on the implications of compensating consumers for their information, and its subsequent impact on privacy control expectations. This dissertation consists of two essays that examine how consumers respond to marketers' strategies for encouraging self-disclosure on the Internet, and how these strategies affect expectations for privacy control. Essay 1 employs regulatory focus theory for investigating the impact of consumers' goals (privacy protection vs. acquisition of benefits) on how they respond to marketers' online influence strategies and brand reputation. The use of safety cues, rewards, and brand reputation have been identified in the privacy literature as important factors that influence consumers' trust, privacy concern, and willingness to provide personal information (Milne and Culnan 2004). Essay 2 draws on theories of social exchange and social contracts for examining how the value and type of compensation received influences the degree to which consumers believe they own the information provided to marketers and their expectations for control over how their information is used. Although consumers frequently trade their personal information for benefits online, it has been suggested in the privacy literature that the point at which consumers own and control information about themselves and when that information becomes the property of marketers is unclear (Sheehan and Hoy 2000). This dissertation employs a mixed methods approach that includes a series of scenario-based experiments using survey panel data, and in-depth interviews. The results of essay 1 provide evidence of the importance of consumer goals in decisions to disclose personal information to marketers. Findings from essay 2 reveal that privacy exchanges may affect the degree to which consumers believe ownership and control over their information is shared with marketers.

Orientation: The safety of any natural being with respect to the processing of their personal information is an essential human right as specified in the Zimbabwe Data Protection Act (ZDPA) bill. Once enacted, the ZDPA bill will affect universities as public entities. It will directly impact how personal information is collected and processed. The bill will be fundamental in understanding the privacy perceptions of students in relation to privacy awareness, privacy expectations and confidence within university. These need to be understood to give guidelines to universities on the implementation of the ZPDA. Problem Statement: The current constitution and the ZDPA are not sufficient to give organisations guidelines on ensuring personal information privacy. There is need for guidelines to help organisations and institutions to implement and comply with the provisions of the ZDPA in the context of Zimbabwe. The privacy regulations, regarded as the three concepts (awareness, expectations and confidence), were used to determine the student perceptions. These three concepts have not been researched before in the privacy context and the relationship between the three concepts has not as yet been established. Research purpose: The main aim of the study was to develop and validate an Information Privacy Perception Survey (IPPS) diagnostic tool and a Student Personal Information Privacy Perception (SPIPP) model to give guidelines to universities on how they can implement the ZDPA and aid universities in comprehending student privacy perceptions to safeguard personal information and assist in giving effect to their privacy constitutional right. Research Methodology: A quantitative research method was used in a deductive research approach where a survey research strategy was applied using the IPPS instrument for data collection. The IPPS instrument was designed with 54 items that were developed from the literature. The preliminary instrument was taken through both the expert review and pilot study. Using the non-probability convenience sampling method, 287 students participated in the final survey. SPSS version 25 was used for data analysis. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were done. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to validate the instrument while confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the structural equation modelling (SEM) were used to validate the model. Main findings: diagnostic instrument was validated and resulted in seven new factors, namely university confidence (UC), privacy expectations (PE), individual awareness (IA), external awareness (EA), privacy awareness (PA), practice confidence (PC) and correctness expectations (CE). Students indicated that they had high expectations of the university on privacy. The new factors showed a high level of awareness of privacy and had low confidence in the university safeguarding their personal information privacy. A SPIPP empirical model was also validated using structural equation modelling (SEM) and it indicated an average overall good fit between the proposed SPIPP conceptual model and the empirically derived SPIPP model Contribution: A diagnostic instrument that measures the perceptions (privacy awareness, expectations and confidence of students) was developed and validated. This study further contributed a model for information privacy perceptions that illustrates the relationship between the three concepts (awareness, expectations and confidence). Other universities can use the model to ascertain the perceptions of students on privacy. This research also contributes to improvement in the personal information protection of students processed by universities. The results will aid university management and information regulators to implement measures to create a culture of privacy and to protect student data in line with regulatory requirements and best practice.

O presente trabalho busca analisar, inicialmente, os limites das investigações internas realizadas no âmbito dos programas de criminal compliance frente aos direitos e garantias dos trabalhadores. Na sequência, buscaremos investigar se poderiam as informações aqui obtidas ser transportadas para o processo penal e, em caso positivo, qual seria a sua possível valoração. Tal problemática tem lugar em face dos evidentes conflitos que decorrem dos interesses persecutórios da empresa, em investigar atos ilícitos cometidos no âmbito de sua atuação, e o direito dos trabalhadores à privacidade e sigilo das comunicações. Para tanto, necessitaremos, em um primeiro momento, compreender o contexto e a estruturação concreta dos programas de compliance, âmbito este do qual decorre o objeto do presente estudo. Sendo assim, após o exame dos códigos internos, dos instrumentos de comunicação ou denúncia e dos procedimentos de investigação/sancionamento, teremos condições de indagar a eventual possibilidade de aproveitamento das informações obtidas por meio desses mecanismos no âmbito da instrução processual penal e, em caso de resposta positiva, qual seria a sua valoração. Ao final, em resposta ao primeiro questionamento, pretende-se provar que uma vez afastadas legitimamente as expectativas de privacidade e sigilo de comunicações dos funcionários, o empregador poderá coletar as informações que entender necessárias para averiguação dos fatos denunciados. Na sequência, uma vez constatada a possibilidade de utilização desses elementos no âmbito processual penal, analisaremos três propostas de solução por nós identificadas, para o problema referente à valoração destas informações, a fim de apresentar seus eventuais óbices e, ao final, assim sustentar aquela que nos parece a mais adequada.
The aim of the present dissertation is initially to analyze the limits of internal investigations that takes place in the scope of criminal compliance programs in light of the rights and guarantees of employees. In sequence, we will investigate if the information collected in these mechanisms could be transported to the criminal procedures and, in case of a positive answer, what would be their possible valuation. This problematic takes place in face of the evident conflicts that arise from the persecutory interests of the company, in investigating unlawful acts committed within the scope of its action, and the employees’ right to privacy and confidentiality of communications. Therefore, we will need, in first place, to comprehend the context and the concrete structuring of the compliance programs, from which the object of the present study derives. So, after examining the internal codes, the communication or denunciation instruments and the investigative/sanctioning procedures, we will be in a position to investigate the possibility of using the information obtained through these mechanisms in criminal procedures and, in case of a positive answer, what would be its valuation. In the end, in response to the first questioning, it is intended to prove that once the expectations of privacy and confidentiality of employees' communications have been legitimately removed, the employer can collect the information they believe necessary to ascertain the reported facts. Following, once the possibility of using these elements in criminal procedures has been established, we will analyze three solutions identified by us for the problem of valuing this information, in order to present its possible obstacles and, in the end, sustain the one that seems the most appropriate.

The proceedings of the conference are concerned with the requirements for archives arising due to new technologies. It comprises several papers addressing these challenges from different perspectives. The opening address by Norbert Becker evaluates a survey on user expectations concerning modern media and information technologies. Kerstin Arnold describes a project to create the archive portal of the Federal Republic of Germany. In two other contributions, specific digitisation projects or strategies are discussed. Susanne Knoblich from Berlin presents a working report on the transfer of electronic documents for the National Archives of Berlin. This study examines how accountability affects school performance in Legae Academy and Al-Nur School. It scrutinizes the main approaches to accountability held by managers, teachers and students and the assumptions underpinning these. It explores all the formal and informal practices and policies of accountability institutionalized in the schools, by looking at who is accountable to whom, how they are accountable and for what are they accountable. Another issue that is addressed is the lines of accountability within the organizational hierarchy of the schools (schools board, school managers, teachers, students, and where applicable other relevant stakeholders), and the possible relationships that can be established between the accountability system and practice and overall school performance. A sample of 6 administrators, 15 teachers and 16 students was selected in total at both Legae Academy and Al-Nur, to be interviewed using purposeful sampling. While the study has an open-ended approach, the following key propositions are considered as a guiding framework: (i) variables of accountability such as responsibilities and expectations influence an accountability system; (ii) accountability of managers, teachers and students improves their practice and performance; and (iii) effective accountability systems play a central role in overall school performance. The main argument of this study is that, where minimum resources both material and human are available, internal accountability with clearly defined lines of accountability – upward to the relevant governance and management structures within the school hierarchy and downward to the main stakeholders, namely parents and students – plays a critical role in enhancing school performance.

In the highly competitive environment, firms collect customers’ data and build database to enhance competitiveness. However, these cause personal privacy concern, because of data abuse by the firms. According to the past researches, as the firms give the compensation, customers would like be more willing to offer more personal information. This research set sales promotion (i.e. SP) as the independent variable, operationalize the SP incentives into timing and types typology, and test the effect on privacy control expectation and information ownership consciousness. Meanwhile, customers’ information sensitivity as moderating variable was tested. The researcher collected the structured questionnaires from respondents between 18~35 years old, often shopping on the website and shops. 231 effective questionnaires were collected and were analyzed with t-test and ANOVA. The result shows that timing and types of SP incentives made no effect on customers’ privacy control expectation and information ownership consciousness. However, information sensitivity influences information ownership consciousness. This research suggests firms might operate other marketing strategies to enhance company and brand image and customers’ trust. Moreover, to redesign data collecting report according to customers’ sensitivity level or, inform customers actively about privacy protection policy. Companies could also collect personal information by observation or monitor to decrease customers’ defense or unpleasantness.

This study focuses on the case study of kindergarten language courses and course satisfaction. The main objectives are: (a) understanding the kindergarten parents ' expectations of English courses. (b) understanding the kindergarten parents level of satisfaction with the English course. (c) and the differences between the levels of satisfaction and the curriculum expectations of the kindergarten parents. (d) the suggestions for the kindergarten curriculum. This study of private kindergartens’classes and school children’s parents to investigate the previously mentioned objectives was carried out using 136 questionnaires. Analysis of the questionnaires for "private kindergartens’ parents’ school curriculum design and implementation of the questionnaire" used statistical methods such as descriptive statistics analysis, verification and linear T-variance analysis for data processing. Based on the results of the analysis, the study came to the following conclusions: 1. This case kindergarten parents’ English courses expectations ranged from high aspirations to satisfactory expectations. 2. Parents ' expectations of the school curriculum differed due to different backgrounds. (A) Of the same child attending classes, some parents had no expectations of what was learnt parent of in English courses. (B) The child who attend bilingual senior and middle classes with an curriculum have higher expectations. 3. Different backgrounds of parents in school curriculums have no different expectations. 4. This case of kindergarten parents ' expectations of the school curriculum and course satisfaction of different scenarios (A) Parents’ expectations between English senior classes and English middle classes are obviously different. (B) Parents’ English curriculum expectations and satisfaction between bilingual senior classes and bilingual middle classes are evidently different. (C) Parents’ English curriculum expectations and satisfaction are apparently different when children are attending different classes. Finally, based on the discoveries of the study and the main conclusions drawn from it. Should be used in the future as a practical application and future study with regards to the two aspects of expectations and satisfaction to make concrete proposals for the implementation in schools for reference. 1. to strengthen the English performance of a child ‘ activities and school experiences. 2. to define clearly the classes objectives between American English and bilingual classes and their methods of implementation. 3. planning and providing education and training to enhance the quality of education. 4. pay attention to the quality of administrative support for schools. Nowadays, science and technology are making huge strides every day. The ability of collecting and analyzing data is taking shape. The value of "non-content communication " has gradually increased, which is enough to depict a complete life image of a person. Finally, it becomes the target of the law enforcement agency to collect evidence. How to balance the goal of chasing crime and defending the defendant’s privacy is the great challenge. In order to clarify the appropriateness of the Taiwan’s Communication Security and Surveillance Act about regulating non-content communication, this article discussed from the perspective of "reasonable expectation of privacy " guaranteed by Communication Security and Surveillance Act. After joining ‘’internet service providers’’ and ‘’non-content communication’’ in the issue of the law enforcement's acquisition of non-content communication from internet service providers, what new elements would be in the reasonable expectation of privacy in criminal investigation is really a difficult question. In the view of the "reasonable expectation of privacy " is not only the concept of Taiwan's legal system, but also the development of the US court practice and academics. Therefore, this article based on the foundation of American law perspective. In the case of collecting evidence through a third party, deeply influenced by the Third-Party Doctrine of the United States. This article examined the historical contex and dilemma of theoretical application of Third-Party Doctrine. Trying to correct this principle through various methodologies proposed by theory and practice. Reanalyzing and reviewing the "subjective" and "objective" aspects of "reasonable expectation of privacy " and proposing new elements for reference, thereby rethinking the legal norms of Taiwan's Communication Security and Surveillance Act about regulating non-content communication.

As the ratio of GDP has been largely contributed by service sectors, the development of these industries worthy notifying. Also, accompanied by the government''''s disregulating of private bank establishment, some related information is easily accessible as you want. However, it is important to know that whether the quality of these banking services has been rising, and whether the accumulation of knowledge about banking services will influence the expectation to the service quality. From the literature reviewing, we see that the study of service encounter has been focused on the role of employees, and it is seldom issued with the viewpoints of customer. So the present study will follow these efforts to investigate the effects of service encounter participation on the expectation of service quality. Based upon this motivation, the study has used 255 customers as samples from the 39 private-owned retailing bank company listed in the Ministry of Finance. And we used statistical AMOS to investigate whether the impact of the customer knowledge on service quality expectations was moderated by role participation and tests of some related hypotheses. We find that: 1. There is positive correlation between customer knowledge and service quality expectations, and also the role participation. So the positive correlation will be seen between role participation and service quality expectations 2. There appears that role participation has actually displayed the moderated effect between customer knowledge and service quality expectations. 3. Compared with perceived quality, we see that the customer’s service quality expectations somewhat is significantly higher. Although the service quality is better than other banks, it means that the banking company will have some opportunity to improve in the future. 4. Customer thought bank must improve the service levels and the first two key points are service provider''''s attitude and service operations speed. To summarize the finding, we suggest that for improving service quality, banking can motivate their customers'''' participation in service encounter through the provision of benefit to the customer. Furthermore, banking can offer the customized service to decrease the gap between perceived and expected service quality. For example, building the personal managed finances center to offer financial portfolio to satisfy customers'''' needs.
