In the following discussion, we are dealing with Weber's theory of the production of presentations, as presented in his article "The Problem of the Production of Presentations". In this article, published in 1928, Weber offers an essential modification of a version of the theory of objects which had been developed by the Graz school (and was closely linked with the theory of higher-order objects). According to Weber, the production of presentations consists in a primary transition from passive to corresponding active presentations (so there is active as well as passive presentation). Weber distinguishes several types of production of presentations: psychophysical, content, act, intentional, and surrogate production, all of which can be divided into many subtypes. Most interesting in this connection is his theory of intentional presentation. In the 1928 article, Weber postulates non-intentional presentations, on which intentional presentations are based. He distinguishes four levels of intentionality: non-intentional presentation, on the lowest level, is followed by presentational intentionality, isolative, and rational intentional presentation. Weber's 1928 article is of considerable importance for an understanding of his subsequent philosophical development.

We give several new positive finite presentations for the pure braid group that are easy to remember and simple in form. All of our presentations involve a metric on the punctured disc so that the punctures are arranged "convexly", which is why we describe them as geometric presentations. Motivated by a presentation for the full braid group that we call the "rotation presentation", we introduce presentations for the pure braid group that we call the "twist presentation" and the "swing presentation". From the point of view of mapping class groups, the swing presentation can be interpreted as stating that the pure braid group is generated by a finite number of Dehn twists and that the only relations needed are the disjointness relation and the lantern relation.

This study aims to find the rhetorical structure of Move and Step which are often found in the Speaking for Presentation class. Additionally, this research looks into the typical pattern of students’ presentations in the Speaking for Presentation class. This study used a mixed-method research strategy that incorporates qualitative and quantitative data. The object of the research is 30 video presentations of 4th-semester English education students from the Speaking for Presentation class at Bengkulu University. From this study, it was found that the rhetorical structures of the Moves and steps that are most often found in students' presentations in the Speaking for Presentation class are Greeting the audience, Introduction of oneself/other speakers, Announcing the topic of oral presentation, Hortatory/narration, Summarizing the points/conclusion, and Thanking/Thank you. Then, the second of the Moves and the steps that are most often found in students' presentations in the Speaking for Presentation class are Leading the audience into the content and Suggestion. Furthermore, the typical patterns found in student presentations are Obligatory and Conventional.

Regardless of age, students often experience anxiety in oral presentations. This quantitative study investigates the perceptions of students towards anxiety in oral presentation in a tertiary educational context. It aims to examine students’ perceptions of anxiety in oral presentations and the factors affecting anxiety in oral presentation. A total of three hundred and two students taking Bachelor in Teaching English as a Second Language (BTESL) in Management and Science University, Malaysia participated in this study by answering an adapted questionnaire with two sections: demographic and anxiety in oral presentation. The items under anxiety in oral presentation revealed students’ perceptions towards anxiety in oral presentation and factors affecting anxiety in oral presentation. Collected data were analyzed through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Results showed that the respondents perceived anxiety in oral presentation to be negative. Moreover, there were six factors affecting anxiety in oral presentation which were preparation, number of presentations, teacher’s feedback, audience’s attention, self-confidence and make mistakes. Thus, the results concluded that the students perceived anxiety in oral presentation to be negative and perceived that the major factor affecting their anxiety was preparation.

Effective presentation skills are vital for success in most organizations. Preparing students for their careers, college educators often require that students demonstrate effective presentation skills. While traditional approaches to managing presentation anxiety help some students, EMDR may offer an effective intervention for those with serious presentation anxiety. This case study involves a student with presentation anxiety referred for EMDR from an organizational communication class. The subject delivered videotaped presentations and completed the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) prior to and after completing three EMDR sessions. The subject’s pre–post STAI scores reduced from the 98th to the 55th percentile. Blind expert ratings of the videotaped presentations indicated pronounced performance improvement. At 12-month follow-up, the subject was successfully employed in a management position, making effective presentations without intense anxiety.

In this study, we aim to identify the correlation between a student’s experience with presentations and self-efficacy, and to seek ways to teach the art of giving presentations in university classes. For this purpose, self-efficacy was measured before and after presentation practice for students in Presentation Techniques, a liberal arts subject at S University, and students' perceptions of the presentation experience were investigated. As a result of the survey, presentations were found to be helpful in improving self-efficacy, and were especially effective in improving social self-efficacy. These results show that presentation education can be an effective teaching method in teaching social and communication skills, and therefore, there appears to be a need to strengthen presentations in college classes.

A diminuição do custo e a diversificação dos dispositivos computacionais vêm criando ambientes de computação cada vez mais completos e sofisticados, mas que ainda carecem de softwares de integração que simplifiquem sua utilização e que melhor explorarem seu potencial. Para responder a esta questão, sistemas de computação ubíqua vêm sendo desenvolvidos para criar mecanismos de controle remoto e unificado de aplicações e dispositivos. Além disso, grupos de pesquisa na área de multimídia abordam outras questões como a sincronização entre dispositivos, gerência de recursos e definição de padrões de documentos. Este trabalho visa unificar os esforços de ambas as áreas com o objetivo de realizar apresentações multimídia através do paradigma de computação ubíqua. Neste trabalho, apresentamos a infraestrutura de execução de apresentações ActivePresentation desenvolvida e baseada em diferentes protótipos. Além disso, propomos um formato de documento multimídia chamado NCLua para orquestrar tais apresentações.
The diminishing costs and the diversity of computational devices are creating increasingly complex and sophisticated computational environments. Nonetheless, such environments still lack integration software to simplify their use and to better explore their potential. In response to this issue, ubiquitous computing systems are being developed to create remote control mechanisms of applications and devices. At the same time, research groups in the area of multimedia deal with other issues, such as synchronization between devices, resource management and document standard definitions. The purpose of this work is to join the efforts of both areas in order to build presentations using the ubiquitous computing paradigm. In this work, we introduce the ActivePresentation infrastructure, based and developed through the study of different prototypes. In addition, we propose a multimedia document format called NCLua to orchestrate such presentations.

Det finns många Människa – Maskin system där utvecklare gör avkall på en del funktionalitet för att inte riskera att systemets användare överbelamras med information. En användare kan till exempel få så mycket information presenterad via synsinnet att synsinnet inte hinner med, eller information som presenteras via flera sinnen och är motsägelsefull och därför medför att hjärnan gör felaktiga tolkningar av systemets tillstånd. Sinnesöverbelastning och kognitiv överbelastning medför att användaren riskerar att inte längre kunna utföra sina uppgifter tillräckligt snabbt, tillräkligt säkert eller överhuvudtaget.

Taktil presentation är presentation som använder känselsinnet. Genom att använda taktil presentation kan man avlasta övriga informationskanaler såsom synsinnet och hörselsinnet. Dessutom är det visat att även om en människa inte klarar av att ta in mer information via ett sinne kan det totala informationsintaget ökas genom att använda flera sinnen.

I det här examensarbetet har två demonstratorer utvecklats till Saab Aerosystems AB för att illustera hur man kan använda taktil information för att avlasta övriga sinnen och för att öka en användares situationsmedvetenhet och därmed öka prestationen.

The master thesis project - Personal video: An Intelligent Presentation System (IPS) - was conducted at the Department of Communication Systems, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden. The focus of this thesis is designing, building, and evaluating an intelligent environment for giving presentations which makes all the technologies of the existing devices invisible to the presenter, i.e., to remove difficulties of configuration, compatibility, etc. from hindering the user from being able to give their presentation. IPS is an application in a hot research field - Ambient Intelligence (AmI) which is influenced by user – centered design. Therefore, the goal of IPS is to improve the user’s experience. As compared to a traditional presentation system, IPS integrating several independent applications hence improving the user’s efficiency and offering greater user friendliness. In this thesis, a prototype of IPS was designed which combines an online presentation room booking system (running on a context server), a CGI presentation control module (running on a presentation server), and a cross platform control panel (which could be running on a PC, laptop, PDA, cellular phone, etc.). This prototype realized our goals of providing an intelligent and comfortable environment for both the presenters and the system a dministrators.

Systemövervakning har blivit en stor del av företags IT-strukturer eftersom företag förlitar sig mer och mer på en välfungerande och högt presterande IT- struktur. När det sker problem i företags IT-strukturer så krävs det att de löses under relativt kort tid. För att hitta problemet så krävs det en mängd olika system som skall underlätta arbetet för människor som arbetar med systemövervakning och underhåll av IT-strukturer. För att tolka och bearbeta all den information som en IT-struktur tillhandahåller så krävs det system vars uppgift är att hjälpa människor att tolka den enorma mängd data en IT-struktur genererar. Denna rapport ger en beskrivning över hur arbetet för en systemadministratör kan förenklas med hjälp av ett integrerat övervakningssystem. Stora delar av rapporten kommer fokusera på vilken metod och protokoll som kan användas för att hämta information från olika övervakningssystem och även förslag på hur informationen kan presenteras för användaren.

The purpose of this thesis is to seek answers to the questions how the sales in a photo shop can be affected by animated commercial presentations and what the costs of producing such presentations would be. The costs are calculated from three different scenarios. The presentations produced has been for one single camera model and for selected products within three product groups; binoculars, digital cameras and printed matters. The task has included image processing of self-shot and existing photos, as well as arranging and animating the photos together with texts and three-dimensional models of selected products. The content and proceedings for each product group is presented separately together with problems occurred during the production. Eventually, the result chapter presents the sales statistics and calculated costs.
Detta examensarbetes syfte har varit att söka svar på frågorna om huruvida försäljningen i en fotobutik kan påverkas av rörliga reklampresentationer samt hur stor kostnaden skulle bli om arbetet utförts utanför universitetet. Kostnaderna har sedan beräknats utifrån tre olika tänkbara scenarion. Presentationerna som producerats har varit för en enskild kameramodell samt för utvalda produkter inom produktgrupperna kikare, kameror samt trycksaker. Arbetet har omfattat dels bildbehandling av egna och befintliga foton, dels disponering och animering av dessa foton tillsammans med textblock och animationer av tredimensionella modeller av vissa av produkterna. För varje produktgrupp redovisas innehåll och tillvägagångssätt tillsammans med problem som uppstått under produktionens gång. I resultatdelen redovisas sedan förändringen i försäljningen samt de beräknade kostnaderna med utgång från åtgången tid för respektive presentation.

Annotation:
The paper investigates some perspectives of oral presentation as an authentic task for providing instruction to students who create their own presentations on a specified topic. For that purpose, undergraduate students who attend ESP courses were exposed to oral presentations prepared by their colleagues in order to be instructed on how to prepare their own presentations. Upon the task completion, a survey was conducted to collect the students’ opinions on the impact of the instruction that contains authentic material on their preparation strategies, self-regulation and self-evaluation in the process of fulfilling the task. The results show that oral presentation used as authentic material for ESP instruction positively affect the strategies and activities that students use during the preparation for the task completion. It also promotes students’ self-regulation and self-evaluation within the same process
