In recent years, the number of digital services and tools available has increased rapidly. When companies want to digitalize their business, they have the opportunity to browse a large number of existing platforms and applications available on the market to find a good match for their specific needs. However, when a company wishes to digitalize a work task that already has a well-established workflow, problems may arise. Due to this, a tailored digital solution may in some cases be the better suited option, rather than the ones available on the market. The intention of this work was to investigate the challenges that companies face in relation to digitalization of the workplace in general, and the challenges of a company’s expense management process in particular. As an example of how a workplace digitalization can take place, a collaboration with a forest industry company was conducted. An evaluation of their analog and internal expense management process was done, where the found challenges were assessed with respect to chosen quality factors. The evaluation and the found challenges regarding digitalization constituted the basis for a process mapping and a digital solution aiming to improve the company’s expense management process. The resulting work emphasizes how a digital solution can be tailored with simple means within a limited time frame, taking specific needs and existing challenges into account in order to digitalize the workplace. In addition, the work presents what challenges that exists within the concept of digitalizing the workplace and regarding expense management, and how quality factors can be used in combination with a process improvement in order to relieve and eliminate them.

Nesta dissertação, propusemos uma investigação dos contornos político-jurídicos do poder decisório dos conselhos populares, através de questões identificadas por meio da atividade de assessoria jurídica universitária popular a grupos e movimentos populares que participam desses órgãos. A primeira questão que analisamos diz respeito às garantias que a Constituição Federal de 1988 prevê para a existência e a participação da sociedade na gestão das políticas públicas por meio de conselhos populares. Identificamos que os conselhos populares foram pautados em inúmeras propostas que tramitaram na Assembleia Nacional Constituinte e que todas elas foram rejeitadas ou tiveram seu conteúdo bastante alterado no sentido de torná-las mais abstratas. Apesar da não aprovação das propostas, o contexto de mobilização popular da Constituinte contribuiu para a construção de um ideário participativo que viria a influenciar o processo de criação de conselhos populares por meio da regulamentação dos direitos sociais previstos na Constituição. Esse processo foi marcado pela reivindicação de conselhos com poder decisório, o que se expressou por meio da exigência de que esses tivessem caráter deliberativo. Entretanto, após três décadas da Constituinte, os conselhos deliberativos parecem não responder ao anseio pela participação popular nas decisões estatais. A partir dessa questão, propusemos um modelo analítico que considera as matizes do poder decisório atribuído aos conselhos para classificar suas atribuições, com base em alguns conceitos do Direito Administrativo. Por meio da análise realizada, buscamos demonstrar que a previsão de caráter deliberativo não é, por si só, suficiente para garantir poder de decisão aos conselhos, que deve ser expresso por meio da previsão de competências que especifiquem o alcance desse poder. Identificamos que há uma grande variedade de tipos de decisões que podem ser tomadas pelos conselhos e que as leis e normas que regulamentam esses órgãos estabelecem muitas competências imperfeitas, ou seja, aquelas que definem uma finalidade sem prever, contudo, os poderes instrumentais que permitam sua execução. Identificamos ainda uma tendência de que essas competências sejam estabelecidas por decreto, e não por lei, o que tende a prejudicar a autonomia dos conselhos. In this dissertation, we proposed an investigation of the political and juridical contours of the decision power of the popular councils, through issues identified by means of the activity of popular legal advice at the university to groups and popular movements that participate these councils. The first question that we analyzed concerns the guarantees that the Federal Constitution of 1988 provides for the existence and participation of society in the management of public policies through popular councils. We identified that the popular councils were based on innumerable proposals that were processed in the Constituent National Assembly and that all of them were rejected or had their content heavily altered in the sense of making them more abstract. Despite the non-approval of the proposals, the context of popular mobilization of the Constituent Assembly contributed to the construction of a participatory ideology that would influence the process of creating the popular councils, through the regulation of social rights provided in the Constitution. This process was marked by the demand for councils with decision- making power, which was expressed through the requirement that these have a deliberative character. However, after three decades of the Constituent Assembly, the deliberative councils don\'t seem to respond to the wishes for popular participation in state decisions. From this point of view, we propose an analytical model that considers the nuances of the decision-making power attributed to the councils to classify their attributions, based on some concepts of Administrative Law. Through the analysis, we demonstrate that the prediction of deliberative feature isn\'t enough by itself to guarantee decision-making power to the councils, what should be expressed through the forecast of competencies that specify the scope of this power. We identified that there is a big variety of types of decisions that can be taken by councils and that the laws and norms that regulate these bodies establish many imperfect competencies, that is, those that define a purpose without, however, foreseeing the instrumental powers that allow its execution. We also identified a tendency for these competences are established by decree, not by law, which tends to undermine the autonomy of councils.

A teoria do Poder Constituinte Derivado de Equivalência às Emendas Constitucionais busca abarcar por completo o fenômeno jurídico da aprovação de tratados e convenções internacionais sobre direitos humanos como equivalentes às emendas constitucionais, nos termos do §3º do art. 5º da Constituição, inserido pela Emenda Constitucional nº 45/04. Após a descrição crítica do panorama constitucional, doutrinário e jurisprudencial em que foi engendrado este novo dispositivo do art. 5º e o procedimento pelo qual foi aprovada a incorporação da Convenção sobre os Direitos das Pessoas com Deficiência e de seu Protocolo Facultativo como equivalentes às Emendas, seguem as três partes essenciais e imprescindíveis que compõem a abordagem do tema. A primeira está voltada à caracterização da presença de uma nova manifestação de Poder Constituinte, com o objetivo de oferecer soluções coerentes e consistentemente respaldadas em um arcabouço teórico comum para toda a problemática envolvida, que será especificamente examinada a partir das questões enfrentadas na Parte II. Já a terceira parte está mais atrelada às questões materiais, ao se preocupar com o objeto da equivalência constitucional: se esta inclui todo o diploma internacional; exclusivamente os direitos humanos nele previstos; ou também normas de outra natureza, abstraindo e projetando conclusões a partir da experiência concreta da Convenção. The theory of Constitutional Amendments Equivalence of Derived Constitutional Power seeking to embrace fully the phenomenon of legal approval of international treaties and conventions on human rights as equivalent to constitutional amendments, pursuant to §3º of art. 5º of the Constitution, inserted by Constitutional Amendment nº 45/04. After critically describing the constitutional, jurisprudential and doctrinaire panorama in that was engendered in this new device of art. 5º and the procedure by which the incorporation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol was approved as equivalent to the Amendments, follow three essential parts that make up the approach to the subject. The first is directed to describe the presence of a new manifestation of constituent power, with the goal of providing solutions coherent and consistently backed into a theoretical framework common to all the problems involved, which will be examined specifically from the issues faced in Part II. The third part is more tied to material issues, to worry about the object of constitutional equivalence: if this includes the entire international diploma; exclusively human rights therein, or also rules otherwise, abstracting and projecting findings from the concrete experience of the Convention. The most intense contribution to legal thought is evidently in the identification of a new type of constitutional derived power; but also in the conceptualization of equivalence to constitutional amendments norms; when pointing the exact object of §3º of art. 5º; revealing the complexity of the phenomena involved in the introduction of the Convention and its Optional Protocol; the delimitation of the spectrum of equivalent to constitutional amendments norms; and in obtaining greater theoretical conformity with the fundamentals of the constitutional and international legal systems, from entanglement between the theories of law and the State; and the disciplines of constitutional law; international law; and human rights

This thesis explores how gambling and gambling-like practices are increasingly mediated by digital technologies. Digital gambling brings gambling closer to the practices and features of videogames, as audiovisual simulations structure users’ experiences. New forms of digital gambling have clear political implications and institute new economic dynamics, as operators increasingly rely on the exploitation of constant interaction, as well as fostering compulsive play. By studying digital gambling from media studies, videogame and cultural studies approaches, this thesis offers a new critical perspective on the issues raised by computer-mediated gambling, while expanding our perspective on what media and gambling are. Current research on gambling practices and markets in disciplines such as psychology, sociology and law has positioned wagering as an exceptional activity because of its association with problem gambling, taxation and financial loss. The increasingly malleable nature of digital gambling media complicates these understandings. Digital gambling and play take a number of shapes: state-of-the-art slot machines, desktop platforms and mobile apps for smartphones and tablets. These cultural forms involve both gambling companies such as Aristocrat and IGT, and videogame companies such as Atari and Zynga. Digital gambling products are consumed by millions of users, primarily in Australia, Europe and North America. In contemporary forms of digital gambling, many users have a gambling or gambling-like experience with or without real money involved. Consumers pay with money and/or labour and/or time and/or access to their digital social networks and contacts. These dynamics represent a significant departure from previous gambling studies, which only consider gambling as those games that involve real money and are demarcated from everyday life. The development of digital gambling sees new cultural forms, including gamble-play media (gambling and gambling-like platforms constructed as videogames), the procedure-image (images that articulate interactive rhetoric), mobile social gambling (the practice carried out through social casino apps) and gambling-machines (an iteration of Deleuze and Guattari’s desiring-machines). Digital gambling operates through assemblages that are materially heterogeneous and increasingly deterritorialised. Through a selection of case studies – including the 3D online casino PKR, the mobile apps Slotomania and Slots Journey, the Electronic Gaming Machine market in New South Wales, Australia, and the online casinos PokerStars and 888 – this thesis analyses the interplay between various digital gambling assemblages and their relations to other media such as videogames and social networking sites.

In the region of Uppland, a shortage of electric power during cold days has emerged during the past years by virtue of the electrification of the society and industry in general. As a result, a power flexibility market managed by the CoordiNet project has commenced to hopefully create a more reliant, eco-friendly and accessible electricity supply. Uppsala kommun wishes to participate in the market but needs a solution for communication between market and technology and smart control methods. In this project, the solution to the problem, consisting of a mobile app, API, database, server and deep learning model, almost meets the requirements to participate on the market this autumn. With more time and resources, the product can hopefully be completed, enabling both economic and city growth in the region.

Os dois últimos formados por companhias estrangeiras que se instalaram no Brasil. Diante disso, houve muita incerteza a respeito do tratamento tributário que deveria ser aplicado sobre as transações de resseguros internacionais que, resumidamente, são: prêmios de resseguros, comissões de resseguros e sinistros pagos. O mercado se autorregulou e passou a praticar e a interpretar as regras fiscais, conforme a legislação securitária e tributária então vigente. Em 2017, a Receita Federal publicou a Solução de Consulta Cosit nº 62 que basicamente reafirmou o tratamento tributário que o mercado estava praticando para as categorias local e eventual, porém inovou ao equiparar o ressegurador admitido ao local, para fins fiscais. A razão da equiparação deu-se em função da exigência regulatória da Superintendência de Seguros Privados (SUSEP) de que o ressegurador admitido deva constituir um escritório de representação no Brasil, conferindo poderes a um procurador para aceitar e vincular a empresa estrangeira perante o mercado brasileiro. Com isso, concluiu-se que tal atividade equivaleria à do ressegurador local. O efeito prático de tal conclusão é um tratamento tributário semelhante ao conceito de Estabelecimento Permanente (EP), e a aplicação de regras tributárias locais ao admitido implica em um aumento significativo da carga tributária e das exigências e custos contábeis, financeiros e operacionais ao ressegurador admitido, o que inviabilizaria o mercado de seguros e resseguros, diante da potencial falta de cobertura para os riscos administrados no Brasil. A determinação de tratamento tributário equiparado a ressegurador local à empresa estrangeira não pode ser realizada por presunções formais legais, mas necessitaria de um exame concreto e fático de que, materialmente, as decisões de assunção de risco, subscrição e pagamento de indenizações está sendo feita pelo escritório de representação no Brasil, e não apenas em virtude de documentos formais. As atividades do escritório de representação não se confundem com as do ressegurado admitido estrangeiro por ele representado, existindo total independência e autonomia societária, contábil, operacional e fiscal. Embora tenha poder para assinatura de contratos, se tais poderes não são exercidos, o risco de EP é mitigado. A clara demonstração de ausência de execução de poder decisório e assinatura de contratos, bem como a revisão total dos processos internos, com a definição clara das atividades que são desempenhadas pelo escritório de representação é elemento de prova fundamental para afastar as potenciais autuações e discussões administrativas e judiciais. After the opening of the reinsurance market under Complementary Law 126/2007, three categories of reinsurers were created in Brazil: local, admitted and occasional. The last two were formed by foreign companies that expanded into Brazil. As such, there was a lot of uncertainty regarding the tax treatment that should be applied to international reinsurance transactions, as follows: reinsurance premiums, reinsurance commissions and claims (indemnities) paid. The market was then self-regulated and began to apply and interpret the tax rules, in accordance with the regulatory insurance and tax laws applicable at that time. In 2017, the Federal Tax Authorities (RFB) issued the Cosit Advance Tax Ruling (ATR) nº 62, which basically confirmed the tax treatment that the market was practicing for the local and the occasional categories, but innovated by equating the admitted category to the local reinsurers for tax purposes. The reason for such an equation was based on SUSEP's regulatory requirement for admitted reinsurers to establish a representation office in Brazil, and to grant acceptance and binding powers to a local attorney-in-fact. As a result, it was understood that such activity would be equal to the local reinsurer business. The practical outcome of this conclusion is to consider the foreign entity with a Permanent Establishment (PE) tax treatment, therefore applying local tax rules to them, which imply in a substantial increase in the tax burden, as well as a stricter and more costly accounting, financial and operational framework. This ultimately shall result the insurance and reinsurance market to be considered unfeasible in Brazil, and might result in a potential lack of coverage for Brazilian insurance risks. The determination of tax treatment to the foreign company cannot be carried out simply by legal and formal presumptions; rather, it must require a concrete and factual examination of whether, in essence, the decision-making of risk acceptance, underwriting and claims payments are being effectively executed by the representation office in Brazil, and not merely by virtue of formal documents. The activities of the representation office must not be confused with those of the foreign admitted reinsurer, since there have full autonomy, and operational, corporate governance and tax independency in each entity. Although it has the power to sign contracts, if such powers are not executed, the risk of PE is mitigated. A clear demonstration of the absence of decision-making power of execution and signature of contracts and the overall review of internal processes, with clear definition of the activities that can be performed by the representative office is a fundamental evidence to rule out the potential tax assessments and administrative and judicial disputes.

Studerar man varje elektrisk apparats förbrukning över till exempel ett år ökas därmed insikten om hur hushållets energiförbrukning är fördelad. En app har designats för att presentera denna information. Användare får gå igenom appen för att sedan testas för att se om de kan förstå och använda appen. Testerna visar att användarna har ökat sin förståelse genom visualiseringen av datan som presenteras i appen. Consumption of electricity is a subject with both personal and global purposes. Reducing the use of power is positive both for the private finances and the environment. In order to make such a reduction, it is helpful to understand how the electricity is spent. In the recent years both hardware and software solutions to display more detailed information on an individual’s consumption than just their total use. If they could see how much their devices use and how their usage levels changes over a year, they might increase their understanding of how they spend their electricity. An app has been designed to show this information. Users can then use the app for a while before being tested with questions that can only be answered correctly by using the app. These tests do show that the users have increased their understanding of their electricity consumption

As relações políticas existentes na construção do planejamento das cidades brasileiras constituem o objeto de pesquisa desta tese de doutorado. Apesar da criação do Estatuto da Cidade, em 2001, pouco se avançou na garantia do direito à cidade para aquelas pessoas que mais sofrem com as diversas desigualdades sociais, construídas historicamente sob um leque de privilégios de grupos dominantes nas cidades. Entre esses grupos estão os empresários que, reunidos em associações, pautam firmemente as ações estatais, sobretudo as políticas urbanas, desde as metrópoles até as pequenas cidades. Para analisar tal ação política, utilizaremos a teoria do rent-seeking, amplamente difundida na Economia e na Ciência Política. Esta tese busca provar a existência de um rent-seeking urbano, pois o que está em disputa na cidade é a renda a partir da terra urbana, maximizando lucros e expandindo as fronteiras da acumulação do capital, o qual está imbricado em uma extensa rede financeira global e se expressa nas cidades, lócus da reprodução da vida dos cidadãos. Aplicaremos essa tese ao caso da cidade de Joinville, situada no estado de Santa Catarina, detentora da terceira maior população da região Sul do país. Joinville possui uma grande articulação de entidades empresariais com poderoso capital político, capaz de influenciar os diversos grupos sociais e políticos locais. A partir da criação do Plano Diretor de Joinville, em 2008, coincidindo com o período da grande expansão do setor imobiliário brasileiro, novos interesses entram em disputa. Para garantir o rent-seeking urbano, a coalizão de empresários precisou realinhar conservadoramente as instâncias da democracia participativa, financiar campanhas eleitorais e exercer lobbies sob os principais marcos legais em discussão. Excluindo, assim, aqueles que contestam os privilégios políticos de alguns grupos e desmandos empresariais. The existing political relations on construction of urban planning in Brazilian cities are the research object of this doctoral thesis. Despite the creation of the City Statute in 2001, little progress was made in guaranteeing city rights for those people who suffer most with several social inequalities, historically built under a range of privileges from dominant groups in the cities. Among these groups there are entrepreneurs who participate in associations and debate firmly on state actions, mainly urban politics, from metropolis to small cities. To analyze this political action the rent-seeking theory, which is widely used on Economy and Political Science, will be used. This thesis aims to prove the existence of urban rent-seeking, because what's on stake in the city is the wealth provision of urban land, maximizing profits and expanding the borders of capital accumulation, which is interwoven into an extensive financial network and this is expressed in the cities, locus of citizen's lives. This thesis will be applied in Joinville city, located in Santa Catarina state, with the third largest population of the country's southern region. Joinville has a great political business entities articulation with plenty political power which influences several social and political groups. With the creation of Joinville masterplan in 2008, coinciding with the expansion of Brazilian real estate industry, new interests are in disputation. To ensure the urban rent-seeking, the coalition of entrepreneurs needed realign conservatively the participatory democracy, fund election campaigns and lobby the principals legal frameworks in discussion. Thereby, excluding those who contest political privilege of some groups and business entities.

Introduction: Crossfit® is characterized by increased high-intensity exercise, varied and functional movement, such as Olympic lifting, weight and gymnastics movements combined in high-intensity workouts. The training complexity and the large number of individuals linked to Crossfit® increases the need for studies to evaluate the effect of this training modality on the musculoskeletal and metabolic system. Aims: to analyze the effect of a Crossfit® session on the cardiac parameters, strength, power and body temperature. Methods: Ten subjects, all males with at least 12 months' experience in Crossfit® and aged between 18 and 35 years (29 ± 6.32 years) participated in the study. The test consisted of a single Crossfit® session, composed of the following WOD: 7 rounds of 20 american swing reps, 15 wall ball and 50 double unders, and the control session consisted of a traditional bodybuilding session consisting of four sets of 10 repetitions of Leg press and four sets of 10 repetitions of bench press with rest of two minutes, being the interventions separated by 72 hours. Results: The results showed significant differences in SBP immediately after the intervention (p = 0.002) and 40 minutes later (p = 0.021) of the experimental group in relation to the control, in the diastolic BP (p = 0.042) and in the mean BP in 40 minutes post (p = 0.004) in comparison to the control and significant differences (p <0.05) in the jump-on-motion (CMJ) tests (49.03 ± 3.13 vs. 45.27 ± 4.20), and power in MMSS (762.50 ± 171.54 vs. 696.40 ± 162.89) and arm thermal asymmetry (0.27 ± 0.21 vs.0.55 ± 0.34). Conclusion: From the first session of Crossfit® it is possible to conclude that the dose-response curve of the exercise in normotensive individuals declines, as well as the affection of physical changes, which if they are repetitive can generate local overloads. Introdução: O Crossfit® se caracteriza por exercício de alta intensidade, movimento variado e funcional, como levantamento olímpico, de peso e movimentos de ginástica, realizados de forma combinada. A complexidade de treinamento e o grande número de indivíduos ligados ao Crossfit®, aumenta a necessidade de estudos para avaliar o efeito dessa modalidade de treinamento no sistema músculo esquelético e metabólico. Objetivo: analisar o efeito de uma sessão de Crossfit® nos parâmetros cardivasculares, força, potência e temperatura corporal. Métodos: Participaram do estudo 10 sujeitos, todos do sexo masculino com experiência de pelo menos 12 meses na modalidade Crossfit® e com idade entre 18 e 35 anos (29 ± 6,32 anos). O teste consistiu em uma única sessão Crossfit®, composta pelo seguinte WOD: 7 roundes de 20 repetições de american swing, 15 de wall ball e 50 double unders , já a sessão controle foi composta por uma sessão de musculação tradicional composta por quatro séries de 10 repetições de Leg press e quatro séries de 10 repetições de supino com descanso de dois minutos, sendo as intervenções separadas por 72 horas. Resultados: Os resultados encontrados mostraram diferenças significativas na PA sistólica logo após a intervenção (p = 0,002) e 40 minutos depois (p = 0,021) do grupo experimental em relação ao controle, na PA diastólica (p = 0,042) e na PA média em 40 minutos pós treino (p = 0,004) em comparação com o controle e diferenças significativas (p<0,05) nos testes de salto em contra movimento (CMJ) (49,03±3,13 vs. 45,27±4,20), e potência em MMSS (762,50±171,54 vs. 696,40±162,89) e assimetria térmica de braço (0,27±0,21 vs.0,55±0,34). Conclusão: A partir da primeira sessão de Crossfit® é possível concluir que a curva dose-resposta do exercício em indivíduos normotensos sofre um declínio, como também há o acometimento de alterações físicas, as quais se forem repetitivas podem vir a gerar sobrecargas locais. Introdução: A terapia com laser de baixa potência (LBP) vem sendo utilizada em Odontologia com diversos objetivos, em especial o de diminuir o tempo de cicatrização de feridas cirúrgicas. Objetivo: O objetivo do presente estudo in vivo foi avaliar qualitativamente e quantitativamente o efeito da irradiação com LBP no processo de remodelação óssea após a extração dentária em ratos jovens. Material e Método: Foram utilizados 60 ratos Wistar, distribuídos aleatoriamente nos seguintes grupos: Grupo Controle (n=30) animais com extração dentária sem aplicação do LBP, e Grupo Experimental (n=30) animais que tiveram extração dentária (Ext) e aplicação do LBP (Ext+LBP) nos três primeiros dias (54 J/cm2 por dia). Os animais foram sacrificados nos períodos de 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 e 10 dias após o procedimento de extração dentária. Neste estudo foram analisados os efeitos da aplicação do laser sobre o reparo alveolar através de microscopia de luz, luz polarizada e imunomarcação. Para isso foram avaliados os seguintes parâmetros: 1) porcentagem de formação óssea no interior do alvéolo; 2) grau de processo inflamatório; 3) grau de amadurecimento do colágeno; 4) imunomarcação para TRAP e RUNX-2. Todos os resultados obtidos foram submetidos à análise estatística através do teste ANOVA e teste de Mann-Whitney U (p<0.05). Resultados: Observou-se que os alvéolos do Grupo Experimental apresentaram processo de reparo mais evoluído quando comparados ao Grupo Controle, caracterizado pela organização mais rápida do coágulo sanguíneo, proliferação de fibroblastos nos restos do ligamento periodontal mais pronunciada, organização do colágeno e formação óssea mais precoce e mais intensa. Conclusão: A utilização do laser de baixa potência acelerou o processo de formação óssea durante as fases iniciais do experimento, embora nos períodos finais não houve diferença no processo de ossificação. Introduction: Low Power Laser (LPL) therapy has been used in Dentistry to achieve many objectives, particularly to decrease the healing period on wound healing. Objectives: The purpose of this in vivo study was to evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the irradiation effect with LPL in the bone remodeling process after tooth extraction in young rats. Material and Method: 60 Wistar rats were used, randomly distributed in the following groups: Control Group (n=30) animals with tooth extraction without LPL application, and Experimental Group (n=30) animals with tooth extraction (Ext) and LPL application (Ext+LPL) on the three fist days (54 J/cm2 per day). The animals were euthanized after the end periods of 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 days after the tooth extraction. This study looked into the effects of laser application on the alveolar repair through light microscopy, polarized light and immunostaining. After that, the following parameters were evaluated: 1) percentage of bone formation inside the dental alveolus; 2) degree of inflammatory process; 3) degree of collagen maturation; 4) immunostaining for TRAP and RUNX-2. All the results obtained were submitted to statistical analysis over the ANOVA and Mann- Whitney (p<0.05) test. Results: It was observed that the alveolus from the Experimental Group presented an improved repair process when compared to the Control Group, characterized by faster blood clot organization, more apparent fibroblasts proliferation on the remnants of the periodontal ligament, earlier and more intense collagen organization and bone generation. Conclusion: The use of Low Power Laser accelerated the bone generation process during the experimental initial period, although there was no difference in the ossification process in the final periods.

Molecular biology has entered an era of systematic and automated experimentation. High-throughput techniques have moved biology from small-scale experiments focused on specific genes and proteins to genome and proteome-wide screens. One result of this endeavor is the compilation of complex networks of interacting proteins. Molecular biologists hope to understand life's complex molecular machines by studying these networks. This thesis addresses tree open problems centered upon their analysis and quality assessment. First, we introduce power graph analysis as a novel approach to the representation and visualization of biological networks. Power graphs are a graph theoretic approach to lossless and compact representation of complex networks. It groups edges into cliques and bicliques, and nodes into a neighborhood hierarchy. We demonstrate power graph analysis on five examples, and show its advantages over traditional network representations. Moreover, we evaluate the algorithm performance on a benchmark, test the robustness of the algorithm to noise, and measure its empirical time complexity at O (e1.71)- sub-quadratic in the number of edges e. Second, we tackle the difficult and controversial problem of data quality in protein interaction networks. We propose a novel measure for accuracy and completeness of genome-wide protein interaction networks based on network compressibility. We validate this new measure by i) verifying the detrimental effect of false positives and false negatives, ii) showing that gold standard networks are highly compressible, iii) showing that authors' choice of confidence thresholds is consistent with high network compressibility, iv) presenting evidence that compressibility is correlated with co-expression, co-localization and shared function, v) showing that complete and accurate networks of complex systems in other domains exhibit similar levels of compressibility than current high quality interactomes. Third, we apply power graph analysis to networks derived from text-mining as well to gene expression microarray data. In particular, we present i) the network-based analysis of genome-wide expression profiles of the neuroectodermal conversion of mesenchymal stem cells. ii) the analysis of regulatory modules in a rare mitochondrial cytopathy: emph{Mitochondrial Encephalomyopathy, Lactic acidosis, and Stroke-like episodes} (MELAS), and iii) we investigate the biochemical causes behind the enhanced biocompatibility of tantalum compared with titanium.

This return to the Legislative normal pattern behavior can be verified in the national scenery, state and municipal, obviously influenced by the change in the Executive, however, as we will see, many elements can be invoke to completing this statement. Este trabalho analisa a mudança no padrão de comportamento do Legislativo Municipal de Porto Alegre após a posse de José Fogaça em 2005. O Poder Legislativo que durante as gestões do Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) apresentou um padrão de comportamento diferente do que se tinha até então, a partir de 2005 retoma a normalidade verificada através da intensificação de suas atividades. Este retorno ao padrão normal de comportamento Legislativo que pode ser verificado em âmbito nacional, estadual e municipal, obviamente é influenciado pela mudança no Executivo, porém como veremos vários elementos podem ser invocados para complementar esta afirmação.

Esta dissertação investiga a influência do Poder Legislativo na política externa brasileira após a redemocratização e a Constituição de 1988. As alterações ocorridas nos planos internacional (término da Guerra Fria) e nacional (aberturas política e econômica) causaram expectativa de que o Congresso Nacional aumentasse a sua influência na política exterior, mitigando a centralidade da burocracia responsável pelo tema (o Ministério das Relações Exteriores). Para tanto, alguns autores defendem que seria preciso mudanças institucionais. Analisando-se o debate teórico das Relações Internacionais, o Direito Internacional e o Direito interno dos Estados, conclui-se que o Brasil tem um cenário institucional bastante similar ao dos demais países da tradição jurídica ocidental na divisão de atribuições entre governo e Parlamento na celebração de acordos internacionais. Examinando-se a relação entre os poderes Executivo e Legislativo no País, percebe-se que, independentemente do tema, o Executivo tem preponderância, o que não impede o Legislativo de ter influência nas políticas públicas. A análise empírica das Legislaturas 1999-2003 e 2003-2007 do Congresso Nacional e o caso do exame do Protocolo de Adesão da Venezuela ao MERCOSUL mostraram que o Parlamento brasileiro tem muitos meios à sua disposição para fiscalizar a política externa, de modo que uma crítica qualitativa à atuação dos parlamentares nesse tema não pode apontar a regulamentação institucional como principal empecilho. O Congresso Nacional pode dar colaboração importante para o debate estratégico da política externa, que ainda não ocupa, na agenda política e na sociedade, espaço condizente com a sua relevância. This essay investigates the influence of the Legislative Power in Brazilian foreign policy after democratization and the 1988 Constitution. Changes in the international (end of Cold War) and national level (political and economic opening) have caused expectations that the Congress would increase its influence on foreign policy, reducing the central role of the bureaucratic body responsible for the matter (the Ministry of External Relations). For this, some authors argue that institutional changes would be necessary. Analyzing the theoretical debate in International Relations, International Law and State´s domestic law, one can conclude that Brazil has an institutional setting quite similar to the other countries of Western legal tradition ones, regarding the sharing of responsibilities between government and Parliament in relation to international agreements. If one examines the relationship between the Executive and Legislative branches in the country, it can be seen that, regardless the topic, the Executive has a preponderance, which does not prevent the Legislative power to influence public policies. Empirical analysis of the Congress’ national legislature between 1999-2003 and 2003-2007, and the case of Venezuelan Protocol of Accession for membership in Mercosul, showed that the Brazilian parliament has many means at its disposal to monitor the foreign policy. Thus, criticism of parliamentary action on this issue cannot point to institutional regulations as the main obstacle. The National Congress can give important collaboration for strategic discussion of foreign policy, which does not occupy, on the political agenda and on society, space befitting its importance.

Abstract The focus of this thesis is to study direction of arrival (DoA) estimation algorithms for reconfigurable leaky-wave antennas and advanced antenna arrays. Directional antennas can greatly improve the spectrum reuse, interference avoidance, and object and people localization. DoA estimation algorithms have also been shown to be useful for applications such as positioning for user tracking and location-based services in wireless local area networks (WLANs). The main goal is to develop novel DoA estimation algorithms for both advanced antenna arrays and composite right/left-handed (CRLH) leaky-wave antennas (LWAs). The thesis introduces novel modifications to existing DoA estimation algorithms and shows how these can be modified for real-time DoA estimation using both antenna types. Three modified DoA estimation algorithms for CRLH-LWAs are presented: 1) modified multiple signal classification (MUSIC), 2) power pattern cross-correlation (PPCC), and 3) adjacent power pattern ratio (APPR). Additionally, the APPR algorithm is also applied to advanced antenna arrays. The thesis also presents improvements to the modified MUSIC and APPR algorithms. The complexity of the algorithms is reduced by selecting a smaller number of received signals from different directions. The results show that the selection of the radiation patterns is very important and that the proposed algorithms can successfully estimate the DoA, even in a real-world environment. Based on the results, this thesis provides a good starting point for future research of DoA estimation algorithms to enhance the performance of future-generation wireless networks and the accuracy of localization Tiivistelmä Tässä väitöskirjassa tutkitaan suunnanestimointialgoritmeja uudelleen konfiguroituville vuotoaaltoantenneille (LWA, leaky wave antenna) ja kehittyneille antenniryhmille. Suuntaavilla antenneilla voidaan parantaa huomattavasti spektrin uudelleen käyttöä ja esineiden ja ihmisten sijaintipaikannusta sekä pienentää häiriöitä. Suunnanestimointialgoritmit ovat myös osoittautuneet hyödylliseksi esimerkiksi seuranta- ja sijaintipaikannuspalvelusovelluksille langattomissa lähiverkoissa. Työn päätavoite on kehittää uusia suunnanestimointialgoritmeja sekä kehittyneille antenniryhmille että vuotoaaltoantenneille (composite right/left-handed (CRLH) LWA). Työssä osoitetaan, miten olemassa olevia suunnanestimointialgoritmeja voidaan muokata uudella tavalla, jotta ne soveltuisivat molemmille antennityypeille reaaliaikaiseen suunnanestimointiin. Vuotoaaltoantennille on kehitetty kolme erilaista suunnanestimointialgoritmia: 1) muunneltu MUSIC- (multiple signal classification), 2) säteilykyvioiden tehojen ristikorrelaatio- (PPCC, power pattern cross correlation) ja 3) vierekkäisten säteilykuvioiden tehosuhdealgoritmi (APPR, adjacent power pattern ratio). APPR-algoritmia on myös käytetty kehittyneelle antenniryhmälle. Työssä esitetään myös parannuksia muunnelluille MUSIC- ja APPR-algoritmeille. Algoritmien kompleksisuutta voidaan pienentää valitsemalla vähemmän vastaanotettuja signaaleja. Tulokset osoittavat, että signaalien valinta on hyvin tärkeää ja ehdotetut algoritmit estimoivat onnistuneesti saapuvan signaalin suunnan todellisessa mittausympäristössä. Yhteenvetona voidaan sanoa, että tämä väitöstyö on hyvä lähtökohta suunnanestimointialgoritmitutkimukselle, jonka tavoitteena on parantaa tulevien sukupolvien langattomien verkkojen suorituskykyä ja paikannuksen tarkkuutta

Objetivo: Avaliar clínica e radiograficamente os efeitos da irradiação com laser de diodo de alta potência e de baixa potência em dentes de ratos, reimplantados tardiamente. Método: Foram utilizados incisivos direitos de cinquenta ratos (Wistar) com peso entre 250 a 350g. Os dentes foram extraídos, permanecendo em meio ambiente durante 60min. Em seguida, realizou-se a remoção da polpa, bem como o preparo químico-cirúrgico e o preenchimento dos canais radiculares com pasta de hidróxido de cálcio. Após a extração, os espécimes foram divididos aleatoriamente em cinco grupos (n = 10). G1 e G2 foram os controles (sem tratamento para reparação periodontal) e nesses grupos foram realizados, respectivamente, o reimplante imediato e o reimplante tardio (sessenta minutos após a extração). G3, G4 e G5 receberam tratamento para reparação antes do reimplante tardio: G3 condicionamento das superfícies radiculares com laser de diodo de alta potência (810nm, modo contínuo, fibra óptica de 600μm, 1,5W, 30s); G4 condicionamento da superfície radicular com laser de diodo de baixa potência no alvéolo (780nm, 40mW por um minuto) e na superfície radicular (660nm, 30mW por três minutos) e G5 associação do laser de alta potência e de baixa nos mesmos parâmetros dos grupos 3 e 4. Após sessenta dias do reimplante, os animais foram anestesiados para análise clínica e, posteriormente eutanasiados para preparo das peças e análise por meio de radiografias digitais das reabsorções radiculares encontradas nos grupos. Resultados: os melhores resultados quanto à análise clínica foram observados respectivamente de forma decrescente em: G1=G3>G4>G2>G5; e quanto a análise radiográfica os melhores resultados ocorreram em G1,G3 e G5 respectivamente. Conclusão: a utilização do laser de alta potência associado ou não ao laser de baixa promoveu a diminuição da ocorrência de reabsorções externas quando comparada aos grupos isentos de tratamento de superfície radicular, e o laser de baixa potência, isoladamente, não favoreceu o controle das reabsorções radiculares. Study hypothesis: The external root resorptions control and the peridontal ligaments regeneration when using the high and low laser power in associate or not in case of delayed reimplant in rats. Objective of the study : Evaluate clinically and radiographically the radiation effects using diodo laser with high and low power in the rats teeth those had delayed reimplant. Methodology: We used incisors rights from fifty rats (Wistar) with weight between 250 a 350g. The teeth were extracted and remained in the environment during 60min. After this, the extraction, the surgical chemical preparation and the filling of root conducts were made with calcium hydroxide paste. Then, the animals were divided randomly in five groups (n=10). G1 and G2 were the controls ( those didnt have treatmet for peridontal repair) and in those groups were realized respectively the immediate reimplant and the delayed reimplant (sixty minutes after the extraction). G3, G4 and G5 had received treatment for reparation before the delayed reimplant; G3- The root surfaces conditioning using diodo high power(810nm,continuos mode, optical fiber 600μm, 1.5W, 30s);G4 The root surface conditioning using diodo low power in alveolar wounds(780nm, 40mW during one minute) and in the root surface (660nm, 30mW during three minutes). G5 - the association with the high and low power in the same way that in the groups 3 and 4. After sixty days, the animals were anesthezied for clinical analisys, and euthanized in order to prepare the parts and to analyse throught the digital x-rays the root resorptions those were found in both groups. Results: The best results about clinical analysis were obtained respectively in decreasing order in G1=G3>G4>G2>G5; and about the radiography analysis the best results occurred in G1,G3 e G5 respectively. Conclusion: The high laser power utilization in association or not with low laser power promoted the decreasing of root resorptions when it compared with the groups that didnt have the same treatment, and the low laser power when was used alone it didnt result in the root resorptions control.

Annotation:

There is an ongoing debate by people in the industry whether to make native or web applications. These discussions mostly surround issues about development costs, user experience and capabilities. Another aspect of this debate is the fact that mobile devices have varying hardware specifications which is another factor to consider when making this decision. What we want to shed some light on is how performance is affected on the device when using these two different approaches of application development. The use of CPU/RAM and Energy is our primary concern and in our experiment we measure these values on two similar applications where one uses Nested Layouts and the other a WebView. The experiment was made on three different devices with varying specifications. What we found was that Web applications have a bigger impact on overall performance and because of this use more battery. While the debate certainly won't come to a close with results they are conclusive when it comes to the topic of performance and will be of value to developers who are concerned about it.

No entanto, a implantação de um ERP pode provocar mudanças na organização e produzir deslocamentos de poder, alterando a forma como este é distribuído na estrutura organizacional pré-estabelecida. Nas universidades predomina um contexto democrático de tomada de decisão e a estrutura da Burocracia Profissional, em que os professores detém considerável grau de poder nas deliberações. A organização profissional se caracteriza pela supremacia do poder do conhecimento sobre a estrutura hierárquica, em que os profissionais, detentores de habilidades específicas, estão diretamente envolvidos no fornecimento de produtos e serviços. Estudar e analisar como se dá o deslocamento de poder na gestão acadêmica de uma universidade pública após a implantação do ERP, objetivo geral deste estudo, poderá proporcionar contribuições relevantes para esse tema de pesquisa, uma vez que a maioria das pesquisas frequentemente não abordam problemas relacionado às suas implicações políticas. A revisão da literatura foi efetuada em função dos sistemas de informação, das estruturas organizacionais e do deslocamento de poder no contexto universitário. A metodologia utilizada neste trabalho foi a pesquisa descritiva qualitativa por meio de um estudo de caso, utilizando-se de entrevistas e questionários para a coleta de dados. Entre os resultados alcançados na instituição estudada, aponta-se que o ERP promove mudanças de natureza tecnológica e estrutural nos processos de gestão acadêmica, que equilibram a distribuição de poder dentro da organização. A tecnoestrutura e a cúpula estratégica se tornaram mais fortes, com um acréscimo de poder deslocados do núcleo operacional, da linha intermediária e da assessoria de apoio. Os impactos negativos percebidos são frequentemente relacionados a falhas no planejamento e no treinamento. Por fim, recomenda-se um passo a passo para diagnosticar o deslocamento de poder decorrente da implantação do ERP e, assim, obter melhores resultados desse sistema na organização e em menor prazo.

O diagnóstico e tratamento precoce da mordida cruzada posterior esquelética ou atresia da maxila é extremamente importante e o uso de aparelhos disjuntores é o tratamento de escolha para estas maloclusões. A utilização de laser de baixa potência com a finalidade de estimular o reparo ósseo e diminuir a sensação dolorosa nesse tipo de tratamento vem sendo estudada e tem apresentado resultados promissores. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a ação osteoindutora do laser de baixa potência na sutura palatina mediana e os efeitos desta irradiação na sensação dolorosa em pacientes submetidos à expansão rápida da maxila (ERM). Como objetivo secundário, foi avaliado o espaço nos arcos dentários antes e após o procedimento de ERM. Participaram da pesquisa 34 indivíduos sendo 16 no Grupo Controle e 18 no Grupo Experimental. Foram solicitadas documentações ortodônticas onde confirmou-se que os indivíduos apresentavam atresia esquelética de maxila e o plano de tratamento consistiu na utilização do aparelho Disjuntor Hyrax. Os pacientes do Grupo Experimental foram submetidos a irradiações com Laser de Diodo (980nm, 0,3W) a cada 5 dias durante a fase ativa do tratamento e 8 aplicações semanais após sobrecorreção e estabilização do parafuso expansor (fase passiva do tratamento) em seis pontos distribuídos bilateralmente à sutura palatina mediana, com duração de 10 segundos em cada ponto. Nos pacientes do Grupo Controle as irradiações foram realizadas no modo Standby do aparelho para caracterizar o efeito placebo. Durante o tratamento, os pacientes de ambos os grupos foram submetidos a exames radiográficos oclusais digitais nos seguintes tempos: estabilização do parafuso, 1 mês, 2 meses, 3 meses e 6 meses, padronizados com posicionador e penetrômetro. Para comparação entre as radiografias foi utilizado o programa Image J. A influência do laser na sensação dolorosa entre os grupos foi avaliada por meio de Escala Visual de Dor. Após a remoção do disjuntor, nova documentação ortodôntica foi solicitada para comparação do espaço nos arcos dentários antes e após o procedimento segundo o método de Moyers. Concordâncias inter e intra-examinadores foram avaliados por meio de teste de correlação intraclasses. Para a análise estatística da formação óssea foi utilizado modelo generalizado misto considerando o indivíduo como fator aleatório seguido do pós-teste de Tukey. Para a análise da dor também foi utilizado modelo generalizado misto para dados ordinais repetidos. Toda as análises foram realizadas no programa estatístico SAS 9.3. Os resultados mostraram que não houve diferença estatística entre os grupos com relação as variáveis analisadas, exceto em relação a análise de espaço no arco superior. Pode-se concluir que a terapia com laser de baixa potência nos parâmetros utilizados não influenciou a regeneração óssea e a sensibilidade dolorosa e que procedimento de ERM promoveu ganho de espaço no arco superior. The diagnosis and early treatment of skeletal posterior cross bite or maxillary atresia is extremely important, and the use of disjunction appliances is the treatment of choice for these malocclusions. The use of low-power laser with the purpose of stimulating bone repair and diminishing the painful sensation in this type of treatment is being studied and has shown promising results. The aim of this work is to evaluate the osteoinductive action of low power laser on median palatine suture, and the effects of this radiation in the painful sensation in patients undergoing rapid maxillary expansion (REM). As a secondary objective, the dental arches space, before and after the procedure of REM, will be assessed. A total of 34 individuals participated in the research, being 16 in the Control Group and 18 in the Experimental Group. Orthodontic documentation was requested and they did confirm that the individuals had skeletal maxillary atresia, and the treatment plan consisted in the use of Hyrax disjunction appliance. Patients in the Experimental Group underwent Diode Laser irradiation (980nm, 0.3W) every 5 days during the active phase of treatment, and 8 weekly applications after overcorrection and stabilization of the expander screw (passive phase of treatment) in six points distributed bilaterally to the median palatine suture, for 10 seconds on each point. In patients of the Control Group irradiation was held in the Standby mode of the device to characterize the placebo effect. During treatment, patients in both groups underwent digital occlusal x-ray examinations according to the following timetable: stabilization of screw, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months and 6 months, patterned with positioner and penetrometer. The Image J program was used to compare the x-rays. The influence of laser in painful sensation among the groups was evaluated through the Visual Scale of Pain. After removing the disjunction appliance, new orthodontic documentation was requested for comparison of dental arches space, before and after the procedure, according to Moyerss method. Inter and intra-examiners concordances were evaluated by means of intraclass correlation tests. The generalized mixed model was used, considering the individual as random factor followed by Tukeys post-test, for statistical analysis of bone formation. The mixed generalized model for ordinal repeated data was also used for the analysis of pain. All analyses were carried out in the statistical program SAS 9.3. The results showed that there was no statistical difference between the groups regarding the variables analyzed and that there was space gain in the upper arch. The paper concludes that the low-power laser therapy, in the parameters used, did not influence bone regeneration and the soreness; and that the REM procedure did promote space gain on the upper arch.

In recent years, there has been extended research on the Big Five and social media, especially Facebook. Snapchat, a fast-growing photo-sharing app, has however not been thoroughly researched yet. This paper aimed at closing this research gap and at investigating the relationship between the Big Five personality traits and Snapchat users and nonusers. Additionally, it researched the potential of the app to advertise new music published by music labels. The sample consisted of 124 self-selected Snapchat users and non-users (94 Snapchat users and 30 Snapchat non-users), between the ages of 18 and 55. Approximately 53% of the participants were from Sweden, 24% from Germany and the rest from other countries. Participants were asked to complete an online questionnaire comprising the Big Five Inventory and demographic questions. Snapchat users also completed a Snapchat usage questionnaire. Additionally, a short interview about Snapchat was held with a representative of a music label. The results showed that there are only minor differences between Snapchat users and non-users regarding the Big Five personality traits. However, male Snapchat users tend to be more open to new experiences. The usage of specific Snapchat features could be connected to more extraverted, neurotic and conscientious individuals. The overall interest for musicrelated content on Snapchat was rather low. Therefore, Snapchat can be used as a complementary marketing action to raise awareness, but cannot stand alone. Under de senaste åren har det gjorts utökad forskning om Big Five och sociala medier, särskilt Facebook. Snapchat, en snabb växande bilddelning app, har dock inte undersökts noggrant. Detta examensarbete syftade till att undersöka det outforskade området kring förhållandet mellan Big Five personlighetsdrag och Snapchat-användare och icke- användare. Dessutom undersökte den möjligheten för skivbolag att annonsera ny musik i appen. Urvalet bestod av 124 självvalda Snapchat-användare och icke-användare (94 Snapchat-användare och 30 Snapchat-icke-användare), mellan 18 och 55 år. Ungefär 53% av deltagarna var från Sverige, 24% från Tyskland och resten från andra länder. Deltagarna blev ombedda att fylla i ett online frågeformulär som omfattade Big Five Inventory och demografiska frågor. Snapchat-användare slutförde också ett Snapchat-användningsformulär. Dessutom hölls en kort intervju om Snapchat med en representant från ett skivbolag. Resultaten visade att det endast finns mindre skillnader mellan Snapchatanvändare och icke-användare angående Big Five-personlighetsdragen. Manliga Snapchat-användare tenderar att vara mer öppna för nya upplevelser. Användningen av specifika Snapchat-funktioner kan kopplas till mer extravert, neurotiska och samvetsgranna individer. Det övergripande intresset för musikrelaterat innehåll på Snapchat var ganska lågt. Därför kan Snapchat användas som en kompletterande marknadsföringsåtgärd för att öka medvetenheten, men inte som enda marknadsföringsåtgärd.

O foco é centrado nas experiências recentes da gestão monetária do Brasil e da Argentina, aproximados através do papel de protagonismo desempenhado dentro do projeto do Mercosul. A dissertação se estrutura em torno do desenvolvimento da hipótese de que as fragilidades estruturais insertas nesse contexto repercutem sobre as opções institucionais disponíveis, confrontando os países do Sul Monetário rotineiramente com possibilidades alternativas sobre as quais embasar sua atuação monetária e cambial, delimitando o perfil da integridade de sua atuação pública: Por um lado, motivada pela estratégia de assimilação da credibilidade de uma moeda forte está a implementação em maior ou menor escala do atrelamento da política doméstica aos ciclos monetários dessa unidade de referência, definindo uma forma necessariamente hierárquica de articulação, que pode e tende a ser reforçada por outros mecanismos de coordenação Norte-Sul. Por outro, a resposta às limitadas ferramentas que países em desenvolvimento têm em mãos para comandar suas políticas domésticas pode ser encontrada em formas de articulação aliadas a processos de integração regional horizontais, envolvendo países que compartilham papéis semelhantes na macro-dinâmica monetária e financeira internacional, as formas de cooperação monetária Sul-Sul, imiscuídas em outros aspectos integracionaistas e sob uma moldura de desenvolvimento. Os traços centrais da proposta institucional e normativa do Mercosul são, na seqüência analisados cronologicamente, destacando a compatibilidade dessa proposta a um conjunto amplo de possibilidade de aprofundamento das relações regionais em direção a uma mais clara coordenação.Essa trajetória atravessa o período conturbado que marca a ruptura sucessiva de regimes cambiais na América Latina e Ásia, com repercussões finalmente sobre o regime cambial brasileiro e atingindo fundo a estrutura econômica e social da Argentina. Este estudo teve por finalidade estudar os efeitos da fototerapia com laser em baixa intensidade (Low Level Laser Therapy LLLT) sobre a inflamação e reparação após lesão criogênica realizada no sitema nervoso central (SNC) de ratos. Foram realizados 3 experimentos. Em todos os experimentos foi utilizado um modelo de deformação cortical direta induzida por lesão criogênica. A LLLT foi realizada com laser de diodo em baixa intensidade emitindo no vermelho visível (InGaAlP, 660 nm) ou no infravermelho (AlGaAr, 780 nm). Os parâmetros de irradiação foram: potência de 40 mW, área do feixe de 0,04 cm2, densidades de energia de 3 J/cm2 (3 s) ou 5 J/cm2 (5 s) determinando energias por ponto de 0,12 J e 0,20 J, respectivamente. Foram realizadas 2 irradiações com intervalo de 3 h, no modo contato e em 2 pontos por lesão. No experimento 1, 50 ratos da linhagem Wistar foram utilizados para determinar os parâmetros de LLLT capazes de influenciar na dinâmica da produção de citocinas proinflamatórias (TNF-a, IL-1b, IL-6) e antiinflamatória (IL-10). As citocinas foram mensuradas pelo teste ELISA no cérebro e no sangue dos animais, 6 e 24h após a lesão. Os grupos experimentais foram: controle (não irradiado) e 4 grupos irradiados com 3 J/cm2 ou 5 J/cm2 para cada comprimento de onda (n=10 por grupo). Para os experimentos 2 e 3 foram utilizados 40 ratos (20 não irradiados controles e 20 irradiados). A LLLT foi realizada somente com o parâmetro de irradiação do laser no infravermelho e a densidade de energia de 3 J/cm2. Nestes experimentos o processo de reparação das lesões criogênicas no SNC foi acompanhado em 6 h, 1, 7 e 14 dias após a última irradiação (n=5 por grupo por tempo experimental). No experimento 2 foi realizada a análise morfométrica da região lesionada do SNC. No experimento 3 foi analisada a distribuição das células inflamatórias (linfócitos T, leucócitos e macrófagos). Os dados de cada experimento foram comparados estatísticamente por análise de variância (ANOVA) ou Kruskal-Wallis seguido dos testes de Tukey ou de Dunn, respectivamente (F=5%). O trauma criogênico foi capaz de criar lesões focais no córtex representadas por necrose, edema, hemorragia e infiltrado inflamatório. Os achados mais marcantes foram: no experimento 1 com a irradiação do laser no infravermelho e 3 J/ cm2, o TNF- a e a IL-6 se mantiveram nos mesmos níveis em 6 e 24 h, enquanto no controle houve aumento significativo. Experimento 2: as lesões não tratadas apresentaram maior perda tecidual em 6 h que as irradiadas. Experimento 3: as lesões irradiadas apresentaram menor quantidade de leucócitos e linfócitos T nas primeiras 24 h do que nas lesões controle. A quantidade de macrófagos foi similar nos dois grupos. Conclusões: Levando em consideração as condições experimentais deste estudo concluiu-se que LLLT exerce efeitos nos processos de inflamação e reparação diminuindo a concentração de citocinas próinflamatórias (TNF-F e IL-6) no sangue e mantendo a de IL-1I no cérebro. Adicionalmente, diminui a perda tecidual inicial pós- lesão criogênica e a infiltração inicial de leucócitos e linfócitos T. This study aimed to study the effects of phototherapy with low-intensity laser (Low Level Laser Therapy - LLLT) on inflammation and repair after cryogenic injury held in central nervous system (CNS) of rats. There were 3 experiments. In all experiments a model of deformation induced by direct cortical cryogenic injury was used. The LLLT was carried out with a low intensity diode laser emitting in the visible red (InGaAlP, 660 nm) or infrared (AlGaAs, 780 nm). The irradiation parameters were: power of 40 mW, beam area of 0.04 cm2, energy densities of 3 J/cm2 (3 s) or 5 J/cm2 (5 s) providing energy per point of 0.12 J and 0.20 J, respectively. Two irradiations were performed at 3 h-intervals, in contact mode and in 2 points for lesion. In experiment 1, 50 Wistar rats were used to determine the parameters of LLLT able to influence the dynamics of production proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-, IL-1 and IL-6) and antiinflammatory cytokine (IL- 10). Cytokines were measured by ELISA in the brain and blood of animals, 6 and 24 hours after injury. The experimental groups were: control (non-irradiated) and 4 irradiated groups [3 J/cm2 and 5 J/cm2 for each wavelength (n = 10 per group)]. For experiments 2 and 3 40 rats (20 non-irradiated - controls and 20 irradiated).were used. The LLLT was performed only with the parameter of laser irradiation on the infrared and the energy density of 3 J/cm2. In these experiments, the process of repair of cryogenic injury in the CNS was followed in 6 h, 1, 7 and 14 days after the last irradiation (n = 5 per group and time trial). In experiment 2 a morphometric analysis of the injured area of the CNS was done. In experiment 3 the distribution of inflammatory cells (lymphocytes, leukocytes and macrophages) was analyzed. Data from each experiment were compared statistically by analysis of variance (ANOVA) or Kruskal-Wallis followed by tests of Tukey or Dunn, respectively ( = 5%). Cryogenic trauma was able to create focal lesions in the cortex represented by necrosis, edema, hemorrhage and inflammatory infiltrate. The most striking findings were: in experiment 1 with the laser irradiation in the infrared and 3 J/cm 2, TNF- and IL-6 remained at the same levels at 6 and 24 h, while in the control there was a significant increase. Experiment 2: untreated lesions showed greater tissue loss than irradiated lesions in 6 h. Experiment 3: lesions irradiated had fewer leukocytes and lymphocytes in the first 24 h than control lesions. The amount of macrophages was similar in both groups. Conclusions: Considering the experimental conditions of this study it was concluded that LLLT has effects in the processes of inflammation and repair by decreasing the concentration of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF- and IL-6) in blood and holding the IL-1 in the brain. Additionally, decreases the initial tissue loss after cryogenic injury and the initial infiltration of leukocytes and lymphocytes T.

Existing techniques usually rely on the availability of source code and instrumentation techniques to generate test cases. We have developed a framework to automate the black-box testing of app memory leaks. Our testing procedure first builds a finite-state model from the execution traces of the app under test (AUT). Specifically, we label each state in the model with memory usages and then extend Karp’s min-cycle algorithm to a k-max cycle algorithm. Then we use the algorithm to identify those cycles in the model with large memory usage and generate test cases to execute the AUT through those cycles for several times to observe whether the memory usage will blow up the AUT. Finally, we report our implementation and experiment with some apps.

By the concept of self-overcoming, we should not naively think of it simply as a complete control of ourselves and become perfectly rational agents. Instead it is an extensive and continuous process of complex, purposeful self-determination or self-creation. 　　　In his works of “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” and “Beyond Good and Evil”, Nietzsche advocated that one’s self is constituted by a hierarchy of drives which strive “to present itself as the ultimate goal of existence and as the legitimate master of all the other drives”, and reminded us that it is our drives that dictate our actions and form the real basis of ourselves. Failures in addressing this level of drives as the fundamental essence of human condition, philosophers tend to prescribe peoples’ actions on value-level, and exerted moral constraints which hindered human well-being. For instance, sufferings is one of the main topics in concern of human life whereby it is considered as an affliction upon humanity either wrought as judgments by higher forces or as part of our pitiful lot in life. In Nietzsche, it turns out to be an opportunity which challenges us as individual to discover unfathomed strength within ourselves. In other words, suffering is the well-spring of greater human existence. 　　　Therefore my study aims at introspecting into one of the prominent concepts of Nietzsche, the “Will to Power” and its relevance in regards to the self-overcoming of life, so as to demonstrate the self-overcoming is the way for life to affirm itself.

This study uses in-depth interviews of qualitative research in order to explore The power relations and the complexities of identity behind their choices of teaching languages. Six new immigrant women in Yunlin County from Southeast Asia are sampled purposively according to mode of social identity and ethnic identity. 　　　The study finds that new immigrant women have not been intended to teach by their mother languages. Rather than social networks, their working conditions play a significant part whether they can decide teach their children by their mother tongues or not. Working helps enhance their sense of status and power, thus speaking out for themselves. Prejudice against new immigrant groups hinder the mother tongue education. Language, power and identity relations are interwoven. Language not only represents a symbol of an ethnic group, but also relates to the power relations between social classes. Languages of minorities often dominant by the main language groups. In this sense, some policy suggestions are as follows: to save the mother tongue of new immigrants to start from the family, review the education of the mother tongue in schools, create a family, neighborhood and create the community of new immigrants, multicultural environment by the information, the media, the children of new immigrants increase the interests in learning their mother tongue.

Discussion focused on the PS and UMP''s nuclear power policy before and after Fukushima nuclear disaster. The dissertation finds that, the ruling party UMP supported nuclear power. UMP''s main energy policy is "energy diversification." It advocated the use of nuclear power to assist developing other renewable energy sources. The opposition PS, before the Fukushima nuclear disaster, required to maintain the existing nuclear scale. After the Fukushima nuclear disaster, PS was disappointed to the control efforts of nuclear security of government control, divided into three factions. The first faction supported immediate nuclear power, the second faction supported phasing out the use of nuclear energy. The third faction, is the mainstream opinion, that supported enhancing nuclear safety and does not express an opinion on the abolition of nuclear energy.

Nye Jr. also called it as “Informational Power” and thought it will be more important than traditional power factors in the future era. Among the development of multi-technologies, the amazing growth and the widely applied of Internet have brought comprehensive change to national security and power concepts as well. In 1944, China connected with Internet and rapidly increased to develop Internet system in military, economy, and society. Meanwhile, these developments have brought China government some questions in military security, economical security, and societal security. The government used to control mass media highly and to keep the flow of information under surveillance. However, on the contrary, for the phenomena of decentralization of Internet, now China government has to face a passive situation in dominating its digital boundary. There are different L/T ratio like L/T = 2.025, L/T = 2.5, L/T = 3.025, L/T = 3.6 and different fin shapes like top triangle and bottom triangle under volume-fixed fins method, and the ability of thermal dissipate of top triangle shape is better than bottom triangle shape. Finally, this study has pointed out that there is 10.05% temperature decrease under volume-unfixed fins method, and there is 17.23% temperature decrease under volume-fixed fins method.

Following the advent of solid-state power electronics technology, extensive usage of nonlinear loads has lead to severe disturbances like harmonics, unbalanced currents, excessive neutral current and reactive power burden in three-phase power systems. Harmonics lower down the efficiency and power factor, increase losses, and result in electromagnetic interference with neighbouring communication lines and other harmful consequences. Over the years, active power filter (APF) has been proven to be a brilliant solution among researchers and application engineers dealing with power quality issues. Selection of proper reference compensation current extraction scheme plays the most crucial role in APF performance. This thesis describes three time-domain schemes viz. Instantaneous active and reactive power (p-q), modified p-q, and Instantaneous active and reactive current component (i_d-i_q) schemes. The objective is to bring down the source current THD below 5%, to satisfy the IEEE-519 Standard recommendations on harmonic limits. Comparative evaluation shows that, i_d-i_q is the best APF control scheme irrespective of supply and load conditions. Results are validated with simulations, followed by real-time analysis in RT-Lab.In view of the fact that APFs are generally comprised of voltage source inverter (VSI) based on PWM, undesirable power loss takes place inside it due to the inductors and switching devices. This is effectively minimized with inverter DC-link voltage regulation using PI controller. The controller gains are determined using optimization technique, as the conventional linearized tuning of PI controller yield inadequate results for a range of operating conditions due to the complex, nonlinear and time-varying nature of power system networks. Developed by hybridization of Particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Bacterial foraging optimization (BFO), an Enhanced BFO technique is proposed here so as to overcome the drawbacks of both PSO and BFO, and accelerate the convergence of optimization problem. Extensive simulation studies and RT-Lab real-time investigations are performed for comparative assessment of proposed implementation of PSO, BFO and Enhanced BFO on APF. This validates that, the APF employing Enhanced BFO offers superior harmonic compensation compared to other alternatives, by lowering down the source current THD to drastically small values.Another indispensable aspect of APF is its topology, which plays an essential role in meeting harmonic current requirement of nonlinear loads. APFs are generally developed with current-source or voltage-source inverters. The latter is more convenient as it is lighter, cheaper, and expandable to multilevel and multistep versions for improved performance at high power ratings with lower switching frequencies. There can be different topologies of VSI depending on the type of supply system. With each topology, constraints related to DC-link voltage regulation change. For effective compensation, irrespective of the number and rating of DC-link capacitors used in any particular topology, voltages across them must be maintained constant with optimal regulation of DC-link voltage. Various topologies for three-phase three-wire systems (conventional two-level and multilevel VSIs) and four-wire systems (split-capacitor (2C), four-leg (4L), three H-bridges (3HB) and three-level H-bridge (3L-HB) VSIs) are analyzed and compared based on component requirements, effectiveness in harmonic compensation, cost and area of application.

The direction of Low-Emission Development Strategies then has become clear. However, in the past the issues of greenhouse gases and conventional air pollutants are considered two individual fields to be analyzed concerning the impact on the environment. Following the low-carbon strategy, the development of its technology and policy will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also can directly or indirectly lower the emissions of conventional air pollutants, improving air quality, and obtaining health benefits. Taiwan''s current carbon emission from power generation sector accounts for over 60% of the overall emission.Additionally, the power generation sector exhausts a lot of conventional pollutants. This study used TWIEA model and AERMOD atmospheric dispersion model to establish Taiwan''s power sector health co-benefits assessment methods, and assess the existing carbon reduction strategies implemented in Taiwan. The more aggressive strategies in which the demand of electric power and power generation structure changes are evaluated as to whether the CO2 and conventional pollutants (SOX, NOX, PM10) emissions could be lowered. Then, this study analyzes the health co-benefits at urban and national levels. The results show that under the existing carbon reduction strategies, we are unable to reach the target of carbon reduction in power sector in 2020, and PM10 emissions will be higher than those in 2005. The only way to reach the goal in 2020 and abate SOX, NOX, PM10 emissions is to adopt more aggressive strategies, which will obtain higher health co-benefits (relatively being improved by 15.6%, compare with the existing policy). In addition, the national total emissions and the national total health effects are not necessarily positively related, so using the county-level resolution to assess health co-benefits will be better than just using the national-level resolution. In conclusion, the implementation of more aggressive carbon reduction strategies would lead to higher degree of health co-benefits for cities in order as following: Taichung city, Kaohsiung city, Keelung city, New Taipei City, Changhua County and Yunlin County. In order to elaborate how modern industrial and commercial activities bring about the bodily sensation of repetition and shock, Walter Benjamin compares this modern experience, Erlebnis, to phantasmagoria, a public entertainment which had been popular since the eighteen century. Benjamin’s phantasmagoria provides a focal point for “repetition.” Repetition in the era of modernity denotes the inevitable bodily sensation of shock resulted from the mechanical stimuli and mass-reproduced commodity. Different from some modern critics who try to fight against the grotesque sameness and fantasy in the era of capitalism and industrialism, Benjamin believes that the modern repetition has reached a point of no return. If people, especially the bourgeoisie, are blind to Erlebnis, they would be trapped into a more vicious circle of repetition, such as hysterical and obsessional neurosis. Therefore, Benjamin makes phantasmagoria as a structure of life as well as a strategy to challenge the bourgeois ideology. Benjamin argues that phantasmagorical repetition interrupts the linear temporal consciousness. Instead, the non-linear temporal consciousness in phantasmagoria helps people remember the lost history of “what had been” through the “now-time” shocking experience. Benjamin proposes that the temporal dialectical constellation of remembrance is similar to Copernican Revolution. The revolution of phantasmagorical repetition provides possibility of improving the social injustice and mundane bourgeois lives in the modern period. Benjamin intends to illustrate how his concept of phantasmagoria could be realized by flâneurs or allegorists from different strategies including “the first and second technology,” “children’s play,” “Denkbilder,” and “empathy.” This thesis argues that Benjamin’s phantasmagorical theory undergoes a theoretical turn from the phantasmagorical urban experience to the phantasmagorical linguistic representation. This change can be understood from both Freudian theory of beyond the pleasure principle and Lacanian psychoanalysis about transference. From the psychoanalytical viewpoint, what Benjamin’s phantasmagorical revolution aims to look for can be understood as das Ding, the mOther. Although the death drive prompts people to repeat some demonic behaviors, it is through the repetition that people recognize their own desire. So long as people face their own desire, they get a chance to reconcile modern urban experiences with their lives. Through Benjamin’s phantasmagoria and psychoanalysis, we can understand better how the seemingly destructive messianic revolution could be a creative innovation and a redemptive hope in the era of modernity.

This research investigates when friends'' check-ins evoke observers'' envy, and how the observers cope with the frustrating feelings of envy with their consumption. It also examines the moderating roles of power distance belief (PDB) on the effect of friends'' check-in on envy and status consumption. Across three experimental studies, this research suggests that, while check-ins from superior friends (vs., not superior friends) are more likely to trigger benign envy to low-PDB observers, the undeserved check-ins are more likely to trigger malicious envy to high-PDB observers; both the effects lead to a greater intention on status consumption (or a higher need for status). Notably, the effect of deservingness thorough malicious envy on need for status, which is found on high-PDB observers, can be verified only when the deservingness of check-ins is evaluated based on the checkers'' social status. This research contributes to the social media literature in examining the emotion of envy and consumer behaviors.

This study used literature review on relative data, regulations and methods to do arrangement, and after integrating all the data, the construction of placement of reward, coach and team of athletes were discussed, depicted and analyzed respectively. The conclusions of this study were (1) Analysis by current achievements: baseball, tennis and softball had prevailing in Asian games, and had competent to get medals in Olympic games, meanwhile, golf event also had competent to get medals in Asian games. Track and field, swimming and gymnastics were not competent enough to have any medal in the both Asian and Olympic games. The other six focused sport events were all competent even to get gold medals. Judo and badminton were inferior for reaching the qualification of the Asian games. (2) Analysis by conditions of persistently rewarding: A. marketing baseball and softball of Taiwan had conditions of persistently developing. B. gymnastics had basic ranking of athletes and coaches. C. Kaekwondo had the most conditions of getting medals and persistently developing, as well as archery and table tennis were the events to have medals. (3) Except Kaekwondo, archery and baseball events, all other sport events didn’t have good management of athletes and coaches ranking as well as whole teaching materials for connection. (4) The good profits of sport events form investment were Kaekwondo, baseball and tennis. (5) The arranging and developing “blue sea” sport events were in 6 categories 10 events where 5 categories 10 events also for women athletes. Analysis of medal-gain strategies form powerful sport nations: (1) the policies of nation: A. Adopting of “whole nation system” to developing sports by phases. B. establishing the full time staffs of focused sport events to help long term training system and basis. C. expending the man source ranking and regional training of focused sport events. D. Carrying out government scholarship system on the athletes of national level. (2) Establishing the whole system for training coaches, referees, umpires and judges. (3) Establishing the information-receiving analysis and science research system: A. Obtaining the most currently information of all sports to improve training and sports achievements. B. Establishing the full time group of sports’ science research. C. Giving adjustment to the all kinds of sports training by science research. (4) Improving the benefits of sports competitions by internationalization: A. establishing the talent athlete selection procedure, as well as inter- and national sports competition system. B. Hiring of excellent foreign coaches and fulfill the experiences of international games. C. The athletes with knowledge and concept of professionalized which develops sports persistently.

碩士 國立臺灣科技大學 電子工程系 101 This thesis presents an AC-DC converter with negative voltage output. The circuit topology is based on the 'CUK power factor correction converter with inherent voltage step-up/down features. The input and output currents are continuous, low ripple currnet can be achieved. Using UC3842 control IC and the clamp current mode control and voltage-follower control, the studied AC-DC converter has high input power factor. The operating principles for the 'CUK power factor correction converter, clamp current mode control, voltage-follower control, and slope compensation are anlyzed and discussed. Some PSIM simulation results are shown to verify feasibility of the design. An 100W clamp-current-mode control 'CUK power factor correction converter is implemented and tested. The experimental results are fully agreed with the theoretical anlysis.

碩士 淡江大學 國際事務與戰略研究所碩士班 100 This research paper analyzes Taiwan’s foreign policy towards Peru from a soft power approach, highlighting the importance of APEC. During my research I deeply discuss the soft power theory and its elements, using this theoretical framework to confirm the assumption that Taiwan is using soft power on its foreign policy towards Peru to maintain and increase economic, cultural and cooperative relations, of which APEC is the focal point of these interactions. As a result of my research, I conclude that soft power is particularly important for Taiwan, as it allows it to gain international friends, and to establish informal and cooperative relations with Peru and other states. This is as a result of the current international economic and political scenario, as well as Peru’s political position towards Taiwan’s sovereignty. In this sense, the only way that Taiwan can strengthen and increase their cooperative relations with Peru, is through an active participation in APEC, having soft power as its main foreign policy strategy.

博士 國立臺灣大學 天文物理研究所 99 This dissertation contains two parts : estimation of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) power spectrum with data from Maxipol and WMAP experiments, and investigation of cluster property through the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect. In the first part, we cross correlate the CMB polarization maps from Maxipol and the temperature map from WMAP to estimate the CMB power spectrum, using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method to deliver the maximum-likelihood analysis. Simulations are heavily invoked to justify our analysis pipeline. Detailed calculation of likelihood function and some numerical issues are discussed. We show that our results are consistent with previous results, and the key for improvement is the data quality. In part II we describe the decade project AMiBA, with particular address on how a multi-frequency analysis can provide better constraint on the properties of galaxy clusters. We first describe the project in several aspects, including the observation strategy, data reduction, and data quality control. Data of the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect from AMiBA and several other experiments are then combined to deliver the multi-frequency analysis, yielding better estimation for the central Compton parameter and peculiar velocity for clusters A2163 and A2390. The future of the work presented here is also addressed.

碩士 國立中山大學 企業管理學系研究所 107 Maketers use hand images of donor and donee in charity advertising to domostrate the helping behavior and catch potential donors’ attention. Despite of the prevalence of hand images used in advertising, limited research has been conduced. Based on conceptual metaphor theory, researchers have suggested that the up-down position is influential in consumer perceptions. In the context of charity advertising, we expect that the up-down position of a donor’s hand and a donee’s hand may impact the charity advertising effectiveness. Besides, we propose hand gesture and donor’s individual differences in power distance belief (PDB) as two boundary conditions. We further find perceived responsibility as the underlying mechanism behind consumer perceptions. This research uses experimental design to investigate the effects of up-down position of a donor’s hand and a donee’s hand, hand gesture and power distance belief. A 2 (up-down position: a donor’s hand over a donee’s hand vs. a donee’s hand over a donor’s hand) x 2 (hand gesture: catching vs. holding) x 2 (power distance belief: low vs. high) factorial design is conducted. Monetary donations, contributions of time as a volunteer, attitudes toward the ad and willingness to participate in charitable service as the four dependent measures for advertising effectiveness. Three experiments using elder people living alone, homeless dogs and child abuse as charitable issues are conducted. The results show that when individuals are with low PDB, an ad showing a hand image of catching gesture with a donor’s hand over a donee’s hand is more effective than the same gesture with a donee’s hand over a donor’s hand. An ad using a holding gesture with a donee’s hand over a donor’s hand is more effective than the same gesture with a donor’s hand over a donee’s hand, regardless of individual differences in PDB. For people with high PDB, the effects of up-down position disappear when a catching gesture is used in advertising, Perceived responsibility is the underlying mechanism behind the interaction effects of up-down position of a donor’s hand and a donee’s hand, hand gesture and power distance belief.

碩士 淡江大學 中國大陸研究所碩士班 101 Due to Mongolia’s geopolitical location, both China and Russia has had a great influence on Mongolia for centuries. With Russia, or the former Soviet Union’s help and military support, Mongolia was able to be independent from China. However, because of the same reason since then Mongolia became a Soviet Union’s dependent country till the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the late 1990’s, Mongolia shifted from the Communism to democracy. Continuing with its transformation, in the beginning of 21 Century Mongolia acts a new multi-pivot foreign policy, not only keeping equidistant diplomacy relationship between China and Russia but also eagerly strengthens the so called “the third neighbor policy” foreign relationship with the United States, Japan and the Western countries. Among its third neighbor countries, Mongolia regards the United States as the No. 1 partner country. Mongolia plans to use U.S. to balance against both China and Russia, and to pursue the best interests of the economy and diplomacy for Mongolia from the balance relationships in all respects.
