Adolescence is a period of storm and stress, because adolescents experience many challenges both from themselves (biopsychosocial factors) and the environment (environmental factors). If adolescents do not have the ability to face these challenges, they can end up with complex health problems as a result of their risky behavior. The establishment of the Youth Posyandu is expected to be a forum to facilitate adolescents in understanding adolescent health problems, find alternative solutions to problems, form youth support groups, expand the reach of the PKPR Health Center, especially for regional youth who have limited access. The purpose of this community service is to provide health education about Adolescent Reproductive Health through the “Pashmina” Youth Posyandu in the New Normal Covid 19 Era. The health education methods carried out are (1) Socialization and Licensing, (2) Affirmation and Pre Test (3) Conducting Health education on Adolescent Reproductive Health. (4) Evaluation of the results of health education activities with Post Test. The results of the activity are expected to increase and understand Adolescent Reproductive Health as indicated by an increase in adolescent reproductive health from the results of the Pre Test (before Health Education) and Post Test Results (after health education).

Introduction/Aim: Adolescents pass through three phases of an accidental crisis: the negation of real danger, feeling of confusion and chaos with the onset of the first symptoms, a complete depressive breakdown with a different range of manifestations. The Covid-19 pandemic has become a real challenge for these patients. The aim of this study is to review and analyze the clinical psychotherapeutic material of the described phases of the passage through the accidental crisis, caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Methods: Adolescents of different ages are involved. The materials of psychotherapeutic sessions of adolescents were used in the paper, from different phases of the adolescent crisis. To explain the phase of negation of real danger, adolescents of the early and central stages of a period of adolescence are presented. To explain the phase of feelings of confusion and chaos to complete depressive breakdown, adolescents of the late and post adolescent stages of a period of adolescence are presented. Patient presentation: In adolescents, who did not show a problematic passage through the developmental crisis, the accidental crisis of the pandemic leads to the denial of the real danger. In a younger, twelve-year-old adolescent, at a specific level of functioning, there is a weakened concentration for learning. In a slightly older, fifteen-year-old adolescent, the denial of real danger, through sublimation, goes into altruism. In adolescents with already manifested problematic passage through the developmental crisis, the symptoms worsen due to the effect of the superimposed accidental crisis caused by the pandemic. In adolescents, the middle phase of adolescence, there is a mixture of real somatic problems with somatization. In the older adolescent, post adolescent phase, with addiction disease problems, the pandemic provokes irritability and low frustrating tolerance leading to complete depressive breakdown. Conclusion: We can conclude that the superposition of accidental crises always complicates the normative adolescent crisis, but we emphasize that the manifested psychopathology can be of a transient character. Psychiatric psychotherapeutic interventions are determined in relation to the degree of threatening or completely manifested decompensation from shorter counseling interventions to the intensification of deep psychotherapy, with or without adequate drug therapy.

Data from the Community and Family Health Care (CFHC) Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in 2018 indicated that 32.6% of families in Jaten had hypertension. The results of community analysis indicated that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) were a major problem in Jaten. One of the measures to control NCDs is through integrated development and coaching post (called by posbindu PTM). The target age of posbindu PTM started from adolescence which is 15 years old. Adolescents are vulnerable group. Biological and psychological changes in adolescence have consequences that can affect their health for a lifetime. Posbindu PTM in Jaten was established in March 2018,. However, the participation of the adolescents was low. Early Detection and Disease Prevention by Jaten's Adolescent Program (Protector Jaten) is designed to provide access and health services for adolescent. This program began with recruiting adolescent to be cadres and continued with cadre school. Adolescent cadres were equipped with knowledge and skills to do their duties in posbindu PTM. This study aimed to assess and explore School for Adolescent Cadres Protector Jaten to increase knowledge and skills of adolescent cadres about implementation of posbindu PTM. The design of this study was a pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test with mixed methods using the Kirkpatrick model level 1 and 2. The quantitative method was carried out using a questionnaire to 11 adolescent cadres. The qualitative method used observation to measure skills and semi-structural interviews on 5 adolescent cadres about the effect of School for Adolescent Cadres Protector Jaten. Total of 63,6% adolescent cadres were famales with range of age between 22 and 24 years old. The mean score of adolescent cadres’ knowledge was 6,5 and 8,6 for pre and post School for Adolescent Cadres Protector Jaten. There was a significant effect of School for Adolescent Cadres Protector Jaten on adolescent cadres’s knowledge (p = 0,003). There was increasing skills of adolescent cadres about the implementation of posbindu PTM. The result of interview showed that School for Adolescent Cadres Protector Jaten improved the knowledge, skill and awareness in preventing NCDs. School for Adolescent Cadres Protector Jaten increased knowledge and skills about the implementation of posbindu PTM. Adolescent cadres still require assistance in implementing posbindu PTM as well as a refreshing program to maintain the implementation of posbindu PTM.

The article deals with the conceptualisation and negotiation of post-adolescent daughters' rights and duties in their families of origin. More and more young Europeans and particularly many young Slovenians are staying with their parents in the post-adolescence period (and even later) or come home from their university city every weekend. This means that two adult generations live together in the same household; so they have to negotiate the rights and duties of the younger generation in different areas, from very personal domains (e.g. appearance) to more far-reaching life decisions (e.g. the post-study life situation, moving out of the parental home). The study provides at least a partial insight into the processes involved in the negotiation of rights and duties in families with post-adolescent daughters. The data stem from semi-structured interviews conducted in autumn 2006 in Slovenia with 70 first-born post-adolescent girls and both of their biological parents. The respondents answered closed- and open-ended questions referring to four vignettes suggesting controversial situations. The answers allow a view of the conceptualisations of post-adolescents' rights and duties, the distribution of decision-making power and the way of dealing with such situations. The results show that post-adolescent daughters are very dependent on their parents in various areas. It turned out that the contemporary Slovenian family with post-adolescent daughters is prepared to negotiate: patterns of intrafamilial communication range from the traditionally grounded commanding pattern where children have to obey unequivocally (but less than 10% of parents resort to the bare use of authority), to an open, active negotiation pattern where the balance of power is more equal and the achievement of consensus is very important.

The present study investigates how adolescent exposure to violence (AEV), in the form of parental physical abuse, witnessing parental violence, and exposure to violence in the neighborhood, is related to adult anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, controlling for more general adolescent violent victimization and for self-reports and parent reports of mental health problems in adolescence, on a national household-based probability sample of individuals who were adolescents in the mid-1970s and who were followed through early adulthood in the early 2000s. The results suggest that AEV is associated with mental health problems in adolescence but not, controlling for other variables, in adulthood, but there is continuity in mental health problems associated with AEV from adolescence to adulthood.

The female adolescent is an important target for stunting reduction efforts. Adolescence is a pubertal phase with fast physical, psychological, and social growth and development. Unicef reported in Adolescent Profile 2021 that 40% of adolescents aged 15-19 yo who have low food consumption variety is related to economic factors. This community service was a balanced nutrition and anemia education among female adolescents at Ampana Tete Sub-District, Tojo Una-Una Regency. This community service was conducted in two villages (Bantuga and Uebone). Activities conducted are balanced nutrition and anemia education, distribution of iron supplement tablets, and promotion of “My Meal Plate” by using the banner. The result of pre and post-test showed that the knowledge of female adolescents was increased after conducting education.

Context:: Anemia is a significant public health problem that persists worldwide, not only among pregnant women, and young children but also among the adolescent girls contributing to high maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity in the future life. Aim: The study was conducted to assess the effect of lifestyle modification program on growth parameters and mood status among adolescent girls having anemia. Methods: A Quasi-experimental study design utilized at one preparatory school and one secondary school affiliated to Shebein Elkom town-Menoufia governorate. One hundred thirty-two adolescent girls included in this study. Four tools used to collect data of this study, they are socio-demographic Structured Interview questionnaire, growth parameters measurement scales, Hemoglobin level measurement scale, and Kutcher Adolescent Depression Scale (KADS). Result: The study population was adolescent girls their mean age was 14.10 ± 1.15 years, the main findings of this study revealed that adolescents having mild anemia pre-intervention (74.2%) falls to 5.30% and 4.50% in the post and follow up intervention respectively. Also, adolescents having severe anemia pre-intervention (6.80%) improved ultimately to none of the participants had severe anemia in the post and follow up intervention. Adolescents who underweight pre-intervention (23.5%) have standard weight post-intervention and at follow-up test 43.9 % and 47.7 % respectively. High statistical significant differences were found between pre, post, and follow up test regarding adolescents' mood status, which the number of affected adolescents has fallen from 93.2%to 34.1% at post intervention and 32.6% at follow-up. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present study, it can conclude that the dietary modification program has a better effect on the improvement of anemia, mood status and growth parameters of the studied adolescent girls. The study recommended that all adolescent girls should urgently adhere to a healthy lifestyle modification regarding their dietary regimen for the proper prevention and management of iron deficiency anemia. Also, for promotion of their mood stability and their growth and development.

Adolescence is a period of rapid growth and development, both physically, psychologically and intellectually. Adolescent reproductive health problems include premarital sex, early marriage, early pregnancy, drugs, and HIV/AIDS. WHO (2015) states that around 21 million teenage girls become pregnant every year and almost half (49%) experience unwanted pregnancies. Another problem that affects adolescent health is anemia. According to WHO, the prevalence of anemia in Indonesian women is 23.9%, which has an impact on stunted physical growth, behavioral and emotional disorders, decreased productivity, impaired mental and intellectual development, as well as decreased body immunity and morbidity. Along with physical and psychological changes, teenagers must adapt to the changes that occur to them. During the menstrual period, the problem of dysmenorrhea appears, which has an impact on the daily activities carried out by teenagers at school. The Community Service that will be carried out is the Formation and Training of Adolescent Health Post Management (PoKeRja) and Providing Health Education to all students. The results of implementing this activity showed that before providing education, more than half had sufficient knowledge (53.8%) and after providing education, they had good knowledge (59.6%) regarding health in adolescents. The Adolescent Health Post has been established with support from partner schools SMA 5 Muhammadyah and SMPN 1 Rancaekek as well as students who are administrators of the adolescent health post at their school.

Adolescent girls aged 15-24 are at risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS. The existence of adolescent promiscuity, inadequate knowledge of adolescents about HIV/AIDS, and lack of communication with parents on adolescent reproductive health are some related factors to the increased number of adolescents infected with sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. Based on these situations, providing health education to adolescents is an alternative solution. The activities were carried out by implementing health education for teenage girls, conducted in four sessions. All sessions were held online, with interactive discussion methods, role play and demonstrations. A total of 18 adolescent girls participated in this activity. The final results showed that there is an increasing mean score of post-test on HIV knowledge (0.5), adolescent reproductive health (0.44), and self-esteem (0.39). There are no significant different between pre and post-test for the level of knowledge on HIV, adolescent reproductive health, adolescent risk behavior and self-esteem. Only risky behavior does not demonstrate an increase in the mean score. Providing health education to teenage girls has improved their knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and adolescent reproductive health and increased adolescent self-esteem. However, these activities did not affect the score of teens’ behavior change. It was due to the duration of health education was not sufficient to change their behavior.

Divorce is a world-wide phenomenon. Divorce means the ending of a marriage after a period of unity and bonding; and thus it can take a long time to recover emotionally, particularly for children. Concerningly, half of marriages ends in divorce. Studies found that divorce has an effect on the well-being, behaviour and actions of both adults and children. Children’s lives change irrevocably and it can be contributed to the parents’ separation or divorce. The manner in which children respond emotionally and psychologically to divorce is dependent on their age, and this event could be both confusing and traumatising. The adolescent stage is viewed as the most vulnerable stage of development, where identity is the primary focus; and thus these children are most severely impacted by their parents’ divorce. There was a dearth of studies on the effects of divorce on adolescents after the divorce finalisation, known as post-divorce phase, and thus no clear interventions.

This study explored the correlation between verbal aggression and physical aggression among post-adolescent students, and included demographic factors such as biological sex, socioeconomic status, and the highest education level achieved by parents. The study is predicated on a paucity of evidence regarding the relationship among these factors in young adults. Two-hundred thirty-eight community college students responded to a self-report questionnaire designed to measure individual differences and demographic characteristics. Results indicate that verbal aggression and physical aggression are significantly correlated and that males report higher verbal aggression than females. Gender differences for physical aggression were not significantly different. None of the other demographic variables demonstrated significant differences. Implications are discussed in terms of societal benefits of preventative treatment for verbal aggression and the role that communication scholarship and education might play in intervention.

Ce travail de thèse a pour objet d’étude la trajectoire psychique et identitaire des adolescents et post adolescents concernés par le phénomène de la radicalisation.Le principal objectif de cette thèse est d’affiner et d’élargir notre compréhension des dynamiques complexes et des vulnérabilités individuelles et collectives qui sous-tendent le phénomène de radicalisation chez les adolescents et post-adolescents. La recherche repose sur une approche psychodynamique qui vise à explorer à la fois les aspects individuels et contextuels, pouvant mettre en lumière la complexité multidimensionnelle de la radicalisation.La méthodologie de la recherche intègre trois études qualitatives distinctes pour recueillir différentes perspectives. L’ensemble des études ont été réalisées à travers des entretiens semi-directif. La première étude, comprend une analyse thématique sur la trajectoire des jeunes concernés par le phénomène de la radicalisation et le regard de leur famille sur celle-ci. La deuxième étude, concerne l’analyse thématique du discours des professionnels confrontés au phénomène de radicalisation dans leur travail au quotidien. Cette étude vise à enrichir la compréhension globale de la radicalisation. La dernière étude, rapporte l’analyse d’une étude de cas détaillé sur le parcours d’un jeune concerné par la radicalisation. Cette étude permet une exploration plus précise des dynamiques psychiques, sociales et identitaires sous-jacentes, offrant des perspectives de réflexions sur les forces invisibles qui peuvent pousser un individu vers des chemins radicaux.Les résultats de cette recherche montrent un lien entre la crise de l’autorité et le phénomène de radicalisation. Ils mettent en avant que la radicalisation des adolescents et post adolescents va au-delà d'une adhésion à une idéologie extrême, elle est aussi un symptôme révélateur de vulnérabilités profondes. Ces vulnérabilités sont liées à des dynamiques sociétales, familiales et individuelles caractérisées par une carence symbolique, une crise de l’autorité.Les résultats montrent la nécessité de repenser les structures de l’autorité, en prenant en compte l'impact des traumatismes transgénérationnels et appelle à une réflexion approfondie sur l’influence potentielle des médias dans l’aliénation des jeunes. C’est un appel à l'empathie, à l’éthique, à l’humanité au dialogue et à une analyse critique et constructive des forces invisibles qui modèlent l’identification des jeunes dans notre société hypermoderne
This doctoral thesis focuses on the psychological and identity trajectories of adolescents and post-adolescents affected by the phenomenon of radicalization.The main objective of this thesis is to refine and broaden our understanding of the complex dynamics and individual and collective vulnerabilities that underlie the phenomenon of radicalization among adolescents and post-adolescents. The research is based on a psychodynamic approach that seeks to explore both individual and contextual aspects, shedding light on the multidimensional complexity of radicalization.The research methodology integrates three distinct qualitative studies to gather diverse perspectives. All studies were conducted using semi-structured interviews. The first study includes a thematic analysis of the trajectories of young individuals affected by the radicalization phenomenon and their families' perspectives on it. The second study focuses on the thematic analysis of the discourse of professionals confronted with the phenomenon of radicalization in their daily work. This study aims to enhance the overall understanding of radicalization. The last study reports an in-depth case study analysis of the journey of a young individual affected by radicalization. This study allows a more precise exploration of the underlying psychological, social, and identity dynamics, providing insights into the unseen forces that can push an individual towards radical paths.The results of this research show a link between the crisis of authority and the phenomenon of radicalization. They highlight that the radicalization of adolescents and post-adolescents goes beyond mere adherence to an extreme ideology; it is also a revealing symptom of deep vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities are tied to societal, familial, and individual dynamics characterized by a symbolic deficiency and a crisis of authority.The findings emphasize the need to rethink the structures of authority, taking into account the impact of transgenerational traumas and prompting deep reflection on the potential influence of media in the alienation of young people. It is a call for empathy, ethics, humanity, dialogue, and a critical and constructive analysis of the unseen forces shaping young people's identification in our hypermodern society

La première étude, évaluant l’attention, a mis en évidence que les enfants ayant des symptômes sub-cliniques ESPT se caractérisent par des biais attentionnels affectant les mots négatifs et reliés au traumatisme vécu, alors que les adultes n’en présentent que pour les items reliés au traumatisme. Les mécanismes inhibiteurs, chez les enfants ESPT, sont altérés pour les informations liées à la peur. Les adultes, en revanche, ont des troubles pour ces items uniquement lorsqu’ils ont un trouble comorbide. De surcroît, ce travail a permis de montrer que les troubles cognitifs présents dans l’ESPT sont intermittents, chez l’adolescent. En phase symptomatologique, les patients ESPT se distinguent par une diminution des performances pour la mémoire épisodique, la mémoire de travail et l’inhibition des informations liées à la peur. Lors de la rémission, les déficits cognitifs apparaissent comme plus importants, affectant la mémoire à court terme, la mémoire de travail, la mémoire épisodique, la vitesse de traitement de l’information. Trois mois après la rémission, ces déficits ne sont plus présents. Enfin, des marqueurs cliniques et cognitifs du risque de maintien ou de réapparition des symptômes ESPT ont été trouvés. Parmi eux la réaction subjective face au traumatisme, les symptômes résiduels, le fonctionnement de la mémoire épisodique ou encore les troubles attentionnels (inhibition et biais attentionnels) pourraient permettre d’identifier des profils d’individus présentant des risques de rechute importants. De façon générale, ce travail met en évidence les conséquences cognitives spécifiques des traumatismes dans l’enfance, ainsi que le rôle majeur de la comorbidité dans le maintien de ces déficits
This work examine PTSD symptoms impact on cognition: attention, memory and executive functions to child, adolescent and adult. The first study, on attention, shows that child with sub-Clinical PTSD symptoms are characterized by attentional bias for negative and threat-Related stimuli. Adults have attentional impairment only for threat-Related information. Anxious symptoms leads to a generalization of attentional bias for child and adult. Inhibition, for PTSD child, present a deficit for threat-Related faces. This work shows that cognitive impairment on PTSD adolescents are irregular. During symptomatic phase, episodic memory, working memory and inhibition for threat-Related information are degraded. After therapy, cognitive impairment are more important: short-Term memory, working memory, episodic memory, treatment of information are distorted. Attentional bias for threat-Related stimuli and inhibition difficulties for anger and happy faces appear. Three month after, these impairment are not presented.Also, clinical and cognitive markers of chronic PTSD or relapse are found. Traumatic distress, residual symptoms, episodic memory or attentional impairment (attentional bias and inhibition) are identified as risk markers for PTSD. This work shows cognitive consequences of trauma in childhood and major function of co-Morbidity on these consequences

Research and intervention into female adolescent sexual health in the context of HIV/AIDS have been dominated by individualistic, cognitive perspectives, which present sexuality as a site of rational, individual choice and agency. A paradigm shift has occurred in recent years, advanced with the realisation that decision-making around sexual health is not driven by rational reasoning alone but, rather, is complexly intertwined with social/discursive constructions of gender and sexuality which, in turn, are enmeshed with processes of signification and relations of power. Drawing upon feminist, post-structuralist and discourse analytic theoretical, methodological and analytical frames, the study focuses on the discourses available to young women for making meaning out of their experiences with their bodies, their relationships and sexual choices, and explores how gendered constructions of (female adolescent) sexuality alternatively enable or undermine adolescent girls' sexual health.

Since this is likely to become a more common family type, the thesis examined the literature on biracial stepfamilies , so as to reflect on the therapy and determine whether race and cultural differences were the most important cause of family dysfunction. While race and culture emerged as an important stressor, pathology in the family system was found to be crucial in the therapy. Considerations for counsellors are addressed and further South African research in this area is called for.

Despite research that indicates that internationally adopted children are at greater risk for poor developmental outcomes than their non-adopted peers (Bimmel, Juffer, IJzendoorn, Bakermans-Kranenburg, 2003; Juffer, & van IJzendoorn, 2005), girls adopted from China into Western culture tend to thrive, exhibiting high self-esteem, low behavior problems (i.e., both externalizing and internalizing), and excelling academically (Rojewski, Shapiro, & Shapiro, 2000; Tan & Jordan-Arthur, 2012). However, few studies have examined whether this trend continues into adolescence, as well as to what factors lead to these positive outcomes. The purpose of this study was to investigate predictors of mental health outcomes among internationally adopted adolescent Chinese girls, particularly factors that predicted levels of internalizing pathology (e.g., depression and anxiety) in adolescence. To fulfill this purpose, a secondary data analysis (N = 167) of information collected as part of a longitudinal study of U.S. international adoptions of Chinese children (2005-present) was completed using a hierarchical regression approach. Overall, these variables (e.g., age at adoption, pre-adoption adversity, family stress, parenting style, adolescent self-esteem, and academic competence) predicted 35% of the variance in internalizing behavior outcomes. The positive adjustment that has been seen in childhood continued to adolescence in this study, with 88% of the adolescent girls reporting Total Internalizing T-scores of less than 60 (i.e., in the normal range) on the Youth Self-Report form on the Child Behavior Checklist (Achenbach & Rescorla, 2001b). Authoritative parenting style and self-esteem showed the strongest relations to internalizing behaviors. Implications of the study for practice and discussion of future research based on these findings are explored.

This study investigated the relationships among family environment, demographic measures, the decisions made by unintentionally pregnant adolescents regarding post-delivery plans (stay single, get married, adoption), and the certainty with which these decisions were made. The Information Sheet, Family Environment Scale (Moos & Moos, 1981), and Multiple Affect Adjective Check List (Zuckerman & Lubin, 1965a) were administered to 17 5 pregnant adolescents, ages 14 through 22, who intended to carry their pregnancies to term. Pearson product-moment correlations and multiple regression analyses were utilized to assess the relationships between family environment and certainty of decision and between family environment and negative affect. Greater uncertainty was associated with nonwhite racial status and living with both natural parents or mother only. Higher levels of negative affect were related to lower levels of perceived family cohesion, independence, expressiveness, and intellectualcultural orientation. The demographic variables of age, trimester of pregnancy, and family constellation were also found to be useful in predicting levels of negative affect. Subjects who were older, further along in their pregnancies, and living with both natural parents or mother only tended to report greater negative affect. Findings of greater uncertainty and negative affect associated with living with the natural mother are consistent with previous reports of disturbed mother-daughter relationships among this population. Discriminant analysis revealed that subjects choosing adoption were more likely to be older and to be white than those choosing to keep the child. They also tended to perceive higher levels of expressiveness and independence in their families. Comparisons between the present sample and "normal" families revealed differences which were statistically significant, but quite small in terms of raw score units. Indeed, these groups may be more similar than has often been assumed. The implications of these findings for the delivery of services and for future research efforts in this area were discussed. More intensive assessment of family functioning is needed. Based upon present results, further investigation of the family constellation variable is warranted.

Measures of the severity of metabolic acidosis (base excess) and of the severity of the underlying acid-base derangements (levels of lactate, chloride, albumin, and strong ion gap) have been used to differentiate survivors from nonsurvivors in various types of adult critical illness, including states of severe hamodynamic compromise following cardiac surgery on cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and in septic shock. prognostic studies of acid-base data for critically ill children in the settings of post-operative cardiogenci shock and septic shock are relatively scarce. It has been suggested that hyperchloraemia migh be a benign phenomenon that should not prompt escalation of therapy. Although it is recognised that hypoalbuminaemia is associated with adverse outcome, and obscrues the extent of underlying metabolic acidosis, the significance of 'unmeasured' anions estimated from the strong ion gap remains controversial. It has been suggested that the admission lactate level is strongly predictive of paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) outcome in both shock states, but it is not known whether calculation of the lactate: pyruvate ratio would add prognostic value in children with either post-operative cardiogenic, or septic shock.

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is the complex three-dimensional deformity of the spine. AIS is commonly accompanied by postural alterations and imbalance problems. Adolescents with a spinal curvature between 6-20 degrees are defined as being in the early stages of scoliosis. Generally, bracing treatment with a hard brace is only recommended for adolescents with a spinal curvature between 21-40 degrees, while observation with periodical re-examination of the spine is suggested for cases of early scoliosis. Nevertheless, more treatment options could be provided to adolescents with early scoliosis as opposed to only observation. Therefore, a posture correction girdle has been developed with the aim to reduce posture imbalance problems and the possibility of spinal curve progression. In this study, the immediate effects of the posture correction girdle on four adolescents with early scoliosis are reported. Each subject undergoes a 2-hour trial of the girdle. Data collection is carried out before and after the trial by using radiographic imaging and three-dimensional body scanning. To evaluate the immediate effects of the posture correction girdle, comparisons are made pre and post results. Apart from the radiographic analysis, the changes of the postural angles in the frontal, horizontal, and sagittal planes during standing are also considered. The evaluation results show that the girdle has positive effects on the subjects. Two of them show a significant reduction in their spinal curve, while all of them reduce their postural imbalance during the time that the posture correction girdle is worn.

In 2019, approximately 29,000 children (up to 15 years of age) were involved in road traffic accidents in Germany. The cohorts with the most accident victims are the 11- to 14-year-olds, about half of whom (approx. 6,000 children) were involved in accidents by bicycle. The number of cyclists involved in accidents rises sharply after the transition from primary to secondary school. This is due to a change in driving behavior after the change of school compared to the primary school period. Many pupils start cycling to school after changing to secondary school. Furthermore, extensive behavioral changes occur with the onset of puberty, which, for example, increases the willingness to take risks in road traffic. SafeBike is a road safety program for the particularly vulnerable target group of 11 to 14-year-old cyclists based on observation procedures, self-reflection and personal responsibility. The basic aim of SafeBike is to raise students' awareness of danger perception when cycling, leading to an increased sense of safety in the short term, so that in the long term the number of cycling accidents in the target group will decrease. After participating in the program, students are expected to be more critical of their own behavior, among other things. SafeBike consists of three components: a self-assessment of one's own driving behavior in terms of safety, the treatment of several subject areas in which driving errors and traffic conflicts occur more frequently, and a final re-assessment of one's own driving behavior.The traffic effects of the program were surveyed and evaluated in a pilot test at two different schools in Germany. In the post-surveys, the test group committed about 50% fewer traffic conflicts and driving errors than the control group, which attests to the very high short-term effectiveness of SafeBike. In the control group, who did not complete the program, no significant improvements occurred in comparison to the before survey, in contrast to the subject group. In the test group, there were significant positive effects, especially in the case of driving errors that occurred particularly frequently in the pre-surveys and were correspondingly addressed in the program and discussed by the students. Particularly high positive effects were achieved with conversations while driving, at the pedestrian crossing and using the pavement on the wrong side of the road. Medium effects were achieved with hand signals and looking around. This means that the road safety program can be used in road safety education throughout the country. However, long-term effects are not yet available and must be determined in further studies.

Review question / Objective: The aim is to conduct a scoping protocol to identify and map how post-acute COVID-19 syndrome affect the quality of life (physical-mental-social functioning) of children and adolescents. Eligibility criteria: Studies will be assessed for inclusion in the review according to the following criteria: Study Design: We will only include studies that investigate the impact of Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome on Quality of Life in children and adolescents. This includes primary research (peer-reviewed research articles), evidence synthesis (narrative reviews, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, rapid reviews, etc.), conference abstracts, discussion articles, editorials, and thesis. We will not limit the included studies by the sample size of the study. Outcomes: We will include studies examining outcomes under the concept quality of life (physical-mental-social functioning), both quantitatively and qualitatively. Study Population and Additional Characteristics: We will only include studies where the study population meets the characteristics of the following MeSH (Medical Subject Headings): - "Child, Preschool": An individual 2 to 5 years old. - "Child": A person 6 to 12 years of age. - "Adolescent": A person 13 to 18 years of age. We will not limit included studies by their ethnicity, country of origin, economic characteristics, or geographic region. We will limit included studies to those published in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Empowering adolescent girls through education has become a priority among numerous stakeholder. However, recent evidence suggests that education alone may not be suffcient if women remain in a low-empowerment equilibrium and face internal constraints as they relate to aspirations, self-efficacy, leadership, and other life (soft) skills. We study the long-term impacts of a school-based upper-secondary intervention, the Educate! Experience, designed to enhance adolescents’ leadership and social entrepreneurship skills in Uganda. The program was implemented as a cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) in 48 schools. Four years post-intervention, we document lasting impacts on a wide array of leadership and soft skills. Overall, Educate! graduates developed skills that are traditionally associated with greater focus on long-term goals; they reported being more in control of aspects of their lives (self-efficacy and grit) and more empowered to implement actions towards their plans. Young women in the treatment group are also more likely to complete secondary education, delay family formation, enroll in tertiary education, and pursue STEM and Business majors relative to their counterparts in the control group. The program yielded socially desirable and gender relevant spillovers, including expansions in women’s agency. Both male and female Educate! graduates embraced more progressive views concerning women’s standing in the society and women’s ability to exercise their agency to engage in the labor market and refuse sex. The incidence of intimate partner violence (IPV) also improved among Educate! graduates, as did their attitudes toward IPV social acceptability.

Physical distancing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the uptake of virtual options for prevention providers and clinical service provision in general. In this paper, we bring together experiences from the HEAL Prevention Cooperative, a unique cohort of research projects representing a continuum of care from community-level promotion to indicated prevention with older adolescents and young adults to increase access to services to prevent opioid misuse. We offer options that preventionists and other providers can implement or continue to use to expand access to youth and families who experience difficulty accessing opioid-related preventive services and supports. We also discuss challenges in implementing physical distancing adaptations that were required to operate during the pandemic. We discuss intervention adaptations along four pillars useful for providers and researchers: connecting with partners, recruitment, prevention service provision, and data collection and evaluation. We also provide recommendations for health professionals and practitioners and for future research.

While many people get HIV-related counseling and testing, only those who receive pre- and post-test counseling, and test voluntarily, are participating in voluntary counseling and testing (VCT). The high rates of HIV infection among youth make it crucial to find programs to prevent infection. Because there is evidence that many adults benefit from VCT, there is increasing interest in extending these services to young people. VCT counseling helps adolescents evaluate their own behavior and its consequences. A negative test result offers the opportunity to recognize vulnerabilities and develop risk-reduction plans to adopt safe behaviors. Young people who test HIV-positive can receive referrals for care and have opportunities to discuss and understand what their HIV status means and what responsibilities they have to themselves and others as a result. Young women who are pregnant and test HIV-positive should be offered special care to safeguard their own health and minimize the risk of passing the virus to the baby. This report assesses the available evidence about the current status of VCT and youth in developing countries.

El estudio tiene como principal hallazgo la importancia de incorporar la perspectiva de escala a los programas desde sus cimientos, delineando y fortaleciendo procesos clave para la implementación de las tutorías y que, a su vez, habiliten, procesos de escalamiento. Fruto del análisis realizado se destacan algunas estrategias para hacer viable el escalamiento como: crear un vínculo entre el diseno y la ejecucion, generar incentivos en pos de la continuidad de participacion de los tutores, fomentara el trabajo colaborativo con los equipos docentes, la construccion participativa de una estrategia publica a largo plazo, incluir sistemas de informacion para el seguimiento y comunicacion entre los actores, entre otras.

The world is now sustaining the largest number of youth in human history; today there are nearly 900 million 10–19-year-olds and their health and livelihood issues are becoming increasingly important to policymakers worldwide. In Zambia, as in many other countries, young people face severe problems, including limited access to jobs, secondary education, and health care. The social, economic, and peer pressures that youth face often lead to high levels of sexual activity, often with subsequent negative impacts on their sexual and reproductive health. In spite of the magnitude of the reproductive health problems facing youth, they still have limited access to effective programs and services to address these problems. In an effort to address this need, CARE Zambia, in collaboration with the Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia and Makeni Ecumenical Center, with technical assistance and funding from the Population Council’s Africa Operations Research and Technical Assistance Project II, have conducted a study to test community-based approaches for improving adolescent sexual and reproductive health. As noted in this report, the study followed a pre-post test design to assess the impact of the interventions and to make comparisons between the different interventions.

Le Population Council a réalisé une étude sur « les itinéraires thérapeutiques des adolescentes pendant la grossesse, l’accouchement et la période post-partum » dans cinq régions du Burkina Faso. Il s’agissait d’une étude qualitative, exploratoire qui a permis d’identifier et de décrire les itinéraires thérapeutiques des adolescentes en grossesse et post-partum en vue de déceler les obstacles liés à la fréquentation des centres de santé dans le suivi de la grossesse, de l’accouchement assisté et des soins aux nouveau-nés. Les résultats de l’étude montrent que, d’une manière générale, les adolescentes mariées ou non ont recours aux soins traditionnels à domicile par l’utilisation de plantes et/ou décoctions et ne se rendent au centre de santé qu’en cas de non satisfaction. De par l’intérêt et l’engouement de la population enquêtée pour le sujet, il apparaît que le contexte social est favorable à la mise en œuvre d’activités sur la santé reproductive en direction des différents groupes cibles. Les besoins à satisfaire sont réels et manifestes sur le terrain et des actions concrètes sont attendues en vue d’améliorer les conditions de vie des adolescentes, des adolescentes en grossesse et des post-partum.
