Although hydroelectric power plants generate most electricity in Brazil, the dams provide environmental barriers which also include the interruption of fish migration. Current study, conducted prior to the construction of São Domingos HPP on the shaft of the Cachoeira Branca (waterfall) on the Verde river, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, evaluated the genetic diversity of two natural populations of dourado (Salminus brasiliensis) located downstream (Population A - PopA) and upstream (Population B - PopB) the waterfall. Eight primers were employed to analyze 56 specimens (PopA: 26; PopB: 30) and observed in 102 fragments, of which 86 were polymorphic (84.3%). Low frequency fragments (PopA: 2; PopB: 1), three limiting fragments (PopA) and three exclusive fragments (PopB) were identified. The intra-population genetic variability calculated the Shannon index, whilst the percentage of polymorphic fragments showed high rate variability within each population (PopA: 0.300 and 60.80% and PopB: 0.411 and 79.40%, respectively). The distance and genetic identity revealed high genetic differentiation (0.076 and 0.927, respectively). Results reveal that populations have high intra-population genetic variability and genetic differentiation between them, with low gene flow.

Most of the electricity used in Brazil comes from hydroelectric plants, mainly due to the great availability of its water resources. However, the construction of these plants denotes serious problems related to migration of native fish and the genetic conservation of stocks. Current study evaluates two wild population of Leporinus elongatus (piapara) located downstream (Population A - PopA) and upstream (Population B - PopB) of the Cachoeira Branca before the construction of the São Domingos hydroelectric plant (HPP) in the Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. Thirty samples from caudal fins were collected and analyzed for each population. Eighty-nine fragments, including 72 polymorphic ones (80.9%), were analyzed. Low fragments (less than 0.100) in both populations (PopA = 2 and PopB = 3) were identified. Nine fixed fragments (frequency 1.000) (PopA = 3 and PopB = 6), and four exclusive fragments (PopA = 3 and PopB = 1) were also reported. The genetic variability within populations, calculated by Shannon Index and by percentage of polymorphic fragments, indicated high rates of intrapopulation variability (PopA = 0.309 and 61.80% and PopB = 0.392 and 71.90%, respectively). Genetic distance and identity rates (0.089 and 0.915, respectively) were different between populations, whilst AMOVA showed that most variations lie within the populations and not between them. Fst and Nm rates showed moderate genetic differentiation with low numbers of migrants. Results reveal populations with high intra-population genetic variability and genetic differentiation, with low gene flow. The passage ladders of São Domingos HPP should control fish transposition to preserve genetic variability.

Ralstonia solanacearum OE1-1 (OE1-1) is pathogenic to tobacco. The type III-secreted effector protein popA of OE1-1 showed 97.6% identity to popA of R. solanacearum GMI1000, which is not pathogenic to tobacco. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that popA in OE1-1 was expressed at 3 h after inoculation (HAI), but not before, in infiltrated-tobacco leaves. Pathogenicity analysis using a popABC operon-deleted mutant of OE1-1 (ΔABC) showed that popABC is not directly involved in the pathogenicity of OE1-1. When Papa, which constitutively expresses popA, was infiltrated into tobacco leaves, popA was expressed by 0.5 HAI. Papa could no longer multiply or spread in tobacco leaves and was no longer virulent. Moreover, the hypersensitive response (HR) and expression of HR-related genes were not induced in Papa-infiltrated leaves. Papa was also avirulent in a tobacco root-dipping inoculation assay. These results suggest that the expression of popA in Papa immediately after invasion triggers the suppression of bacterial proliferation and movement, resulting in loss of virulence. However, Papa retained its virulence when directly inoculated into xylem vessels. This result suggests that tobacco plants can recognize PopA when it is expressed early in disease development, and respond with an effective defense in the intercellular spaces.

Latar Belakang: Media informasi sangat berperan penting dalam mentransfer informasi kepada masyarakat. Banyak masyarakat belum mengetahui alat kontrasepsi. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh konseling PoPa-B pada ibu nifas terhadap pengetahuan dan keputusan memilih kontrasepsi di Klinik Ramlah Parjib. Metedologi: Penelitian Quasi Eksperimental dengan One Group Pretest Posttest. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 41 orang dengan teknik Probability Sampling. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan lembar kuesioner yang sudah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Uji statistik yang digunakan yakni Uji McNemar. Hasil : Pengetahuan responden sebelum diberikan konseling PoPa-B menunjukkan hampir seluruhnya berpengetahuan kurang. Sedangkan, setelah diberikan konseling PoPa-B hampir seluruh responden berpengetahuan baik. Hasil Uji McNemar didapatkan nilai ρvalue 0,000 < α 0,05, artinya adanya pengaruh konseling PoPa-B pada ibu nifas terhadap pengetahuan dan keputusan memilih kontrasepsi di Klinik Ramlah Parjib. Kesimpulan: Materi PoPa-B hendaknya dimasukkan kedalam kurikulum pendidikan bidan dan sebagai sumber informasi yang inovatif.

A practical solution to the power allocation problem in ultra-dense small cell networks can be achieved by using deep reinforcement learning (DRL) methods. Unlike traditional algorithms, DRL methods are capable of achieving low latency and operating without the need for global real-time channel state information (CSI). Based on the actor–critic framework, we propose a policy optimization of the power allocation algorithm (POPA) for small cell networks in this paper. The POPA adopts the proximal policy optimization (PPO) algorithm to update the policy, which has been shown to have stable exploration and convergence effects in our simulations. Thanks to our proposed actor–critic architecture with distributed execution and centralized exploration training, the POPA can meet real-time requirements and has multi-dimensional scalability. Through simulations, we demonstrate that the POPA outperforms existing methods in terms of spectral efficiency. Our findings suggest that the POPA can be of practical value for power allocation in small cell networks.

Mount Popa is a conspicuous dormant volcano, which lies on the volcanic island arc (NS-trending central volcanic line) through the Central Myanmar Basin tectonically. The rheology of lava flows is determined by the phenocryst distribution in the andesitic rocks of Mount Popa, Myanmar. Particularly, the andesitic rock units are differentiated as V1-flow andesite, Nagale-Legyingon plateau andesite, Popa plateau andesite, V3-flow andesite, and V4-flow andesite. The different flow units are megascopic ally very similar in color and texture to porphyritic andesite or augite andesite but different in grain size, and the amount of phenocryst. The phenocryst distribution is graphically correlated with the Newtonian and non-Newtonian flow to interpret the rheology of lava flow during the Pliocene-Holocene eruption of the Mount Popa volcano. A new method which is simplest and practiced to identify the porphyritic andesitic rocks or lava flows not only for the stratigraphy but also the rheology.

The beginning of the formation of Mancuana Popa`Ano in the Cia-Cia tribe began in the Age of the Sultanate of Buton. Based on the narrative of Mr. Samsudin at the time of the Sultanate of Buton. In carrying out his duties and functions, the role of Mancuna Popa`Ano does not change along with the change in leadership. The role of Mancuana Popa`Ano is to give peace to the indigenous people of Gonda Baru Village, to provide comfort, to help indigenous peoples in solving problems, to protect the Kaombo forest, to maintain the prevailing customs by teaching youth and women to love custom. Kaombo forest is a protected forest to preserve the forest and protect the springs. The role of Mancuana Popa`Ano in preserving the Kaombo forest is to direct the Gonda Baru indigenous people to protect the forest and the community to be given an understanding of the importance of forest preservation, especially the Kaombo forest. The name of the rule in protecting the forest from Mancuana Popa`Ano is Kabori. An illustration of the success of protecting the Kaombo forest by Mancuana Popa`Ano is that until now the Kaombo forest is still preserved and at this time Gonda Baru Village has been named a climate village.

Abstract Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death in the United States. Thrombosis represents one of the most common underlying pathologies in CVD and disproportionately plagues females. Analyses of transcripts from the Framingham offspring cohort, revealed enrichment in transcripts encoding for the mitochondrial dynamics protein: optic atrophy-1 in females that positively correlated with coronary heart disease and diabetes. Optic atrophy (OPA)-1 regulates mitochondrial fusion, electron transport chain (ETC), complex assembly and apoptosis. The correlation suggests that altered mitochondrial dynamics may contribute to platelet dysfunction. Thus, to determine whether the enrichment in OPA1 transcripts in females that correlates with increased CVD risk represents a physiological adaptation or a pathophysiological response, mice with platelet-specific deletion of OPA1 (pOPA-1 KO) were generated. Male pOPA-1 KO mice exhibited compromised cristae morphology and a 50% reduction in mitochondrial DNA. Additionally, mitochondrial function assessed by an extracellular flux analyzer (XF24 Seahorse biosciences) was reduced by 50%. Mitochondrial dysfunction in male pOPA-1 KO mice was associated with heightened agonist-mediated platelet activation (a hyperactive phenotype). Male pOPA-1 KO mice had a shortened time to stable occlusion of the carotid artery as assessed in vivo by (rose Bengal) photochemical injury (~25 min knockout vs ~ 35 min control), and were more prone to develop a thrombus (14/15 knockouts vs. 4/8 controls) following permanent ligation of the inferior vena cava. In contrast, cristae morphology was normal and mitochondrial DNA unchanged in females. Females revealed no evidence of heightened agonist response or increased incidence of thrombus formation. In contrast, female pOPA-1 KO mice had increased time to stable occlusion of the carotid artery as assessed by photochemical injury (~75 min knockout vs ~35 min control). Additionally, when platelets from pOPA-1 KO or control males were transferred into female mice harboring the human interleukin 4 receptor (HIL4R) transgene that were depleted of their native platelets by HIL4R antibodies, the reconstituted male platelets acquired the phenotype of female pOPA-1 KO mice. Thus, the time to stable occlusion of the carotid artery following photochemical injury was increased. In parallel, gonadectomized pOPA-1 KO male mice were protected from the prothrombotic phenotype. Additionally, gonadectomized female pOPA-1 KO no longer exhibited increased time to stable carotid artery occlusion. These findings suggest a direct interaction between platelet genotype and the systemic milieu, which determines platelet function in pOPA-1 KO mice and the modulation by gonadectomy suggests a role for sex steroids. Thus, whereas preserving OPA-1 expression might be a protective adaptation in males, OPA-1 induction in platelets of females that correlates with CVD in humans, might promote platelet hyper-activation. Asymmetric cell division generates two daughter cells with distinct characteristics and fates. Positioning different regulatory and signaling proteins at the opposing ends of the predivisional cell produces molecularly distinct daughter cells. Here, we report a strategy deployed by the asymmetrically dividing bacterium Caulobacter crescentus where a regulatory protein is programmed to perform distinct functions at the opposing cell poles. We find that the CtrA proteolysis adaptor protein PopA assumes distinct oligomeric states at the two cell poles through asymmetrically distributed c-di-GMP: dimeric at the stalked pole and monomeric at the swarmer pole. Different polar organizing proteins at each cell pole recruit PopA where it interacts with and mediates the function of two molecular machines: the ClpXP degradation machinery at the stalked pole and the flagellar basal body at the swarmer pole. We discovered a binding partner of PopA at the swarmer cell pole that together with PopA regulates the length of the flagella filament. Our work demonstrates how a second messenger provides spatiotemporal cues to change the physical behavior of an effector protein, thereby facilitating asymmetry.

In Myanmar, most of the botanical surveys and plant inventories available have been based on a short period of intensive collecting activities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Previous data show strong biases in effort across plant groups, with ferns and lycophytes rather poorly covered. For example, naturalists and plant hunters had given little attention to the Mt. Popa, Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Region. Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano, is distinct for its unique ecosystem that differs strongly from the surrounding arid region of Central Dry Zone of Myanmar. To contribute to the flora documentation in Myanmar and to better understand the species distribution of ferns and lycophytes in Southeast Asia, we compiled a critical checklist of ferns and lycophytes of Mt. Popa and the surrounding area, based on records documented in the literature and recent surveys. In this enumeration, we list 50 species belonging to 14 families and 29 genera for the Popa region, contributing about 8% of the total ferns and lycophytes recorded in Myanmar. Considering the size of the study area, i.e., 0.02% of the total land area of Myanmar, the region is rich in ferns and lycophytes. We report 21 fern and lycophyte species as the first records for Popa region and the first certain record of Ophioglossum reticulatum in Myanmar. This baseline data from a region previously poorly known for ferns and lycophytes significantly contributes to the upcoming “Flora of Myanmar”.

Petrinićev zbornik iz 1503. godine pisan kurzivnom glagoljicom jedan je od predstavnika ličke (u užem smislu buške) glagoljaške rukopisne baštine. Sastoji od različitih tekstova u kojima se tumače evanđelja, a većina rukopisa odnosi se na hrvatski prijevod Korizmenjaka Jakova da Voragine. Na kraju zbornika njegov pisar/kompilator pop Tomaš Petrinić iz Banj Dvora u Bužanima ostavlja dug kolofon sastavljen od citatnoga odlomka iz čuvenoga moralno-didaktičnoga traktata Cvijeta kreposti i vlastitih komentara. Na primjeru Petrinićeva kolofona, koji se u ovome radu prvi put analizira, cilj je istražiti odnos glagoljaških pisara/kompilatora prema vlastitom stvaralaštvu. Utvrđivanjem autoreferencijalnih detalja u kolofonu, i općenito povezanosti sadržaja citatnoga i komentatorskoga dijela, namjera je pokazati kako se pop Tomaš Petrinić svojim postupcima može dijelom opisati kao kasnosrednjovjekovni kompilator/pisar.

The effects of rumen protozoal populations on ruminal populations and fecal shedding of Escherichia coli O157:H7 were evaluated by using specifically faunated sheep. Nine fauna-free sheep (three animals per treatment) were inoculated with Dasytricha spp. (DAS sheep); with mixed population A (PopA) comprising Entodinium spp., Isotricha spp., Diplodinium spp., and Polyplastron spp.; or with mixed population B (PopB) comprising Entodinium spp., Isotricha spp., Dasytricha spp., and Epidinium spp.; six sheep were maintained fauna-free (FF sheep) to serve as controls. Sheep were fed barley silage–based diets, and treatment groups were housed in isolated rooms. Sheep were inoculated orally with 1010 CFU of a four-strain mixture of nalidixic acid–resistant E. coli O157:H7. Samples of ruminal fluid and feces were collected over 77 days. Polyplastron spp. were detected in only one sheep in PopA, and Dasytricha spp. were detected only once within the PopB cohort. Sheep in the DAS group were 2.03 times more likely (P &lt; 0.001) to shed E. coli O157:H7 than were those in the other three treatments, whereas the PopB sheep were less likely (0.65; P &lt; 0.05) to shed this bacterium. The likelihood of harboring ruminal E. coli O157:H7 also tended (P = 0.06) to be higher in DAS and was lower (P &lt; 0.01) in FF than in other cohorts. Possibly, Dasytricha spp. had a hosting effect, and Epidinium spp. had a predatory relationship, with E. coli O157:H7. Additional study into predator-prey and hosting relationships among rumen protozoa and E. coli O157:H7 is warranted.

A basic knowledge of linkage disequilibrium and population structure is necessary in order to determine the genetic control and identify significant associations with agronomical and phytochemical compounds in apple (Malus × domestica Borkh). In this study, 186 apple accessions (Pop1), representing both Spanish native accessions (94) and non-Spanish cultivars (92) from the EEAD-CSIC apple core collection, were assessed using 23 SSRs markers. Four populations were considered: Pop1, Pop2, Pop3, and Pop4. The initial Pop1 was divided into 150 diploid (Pop2) and 36 triploid accessions (Pop3), while for the inter-chromosomal linkage disequilibrium and the association mapping analysis, 118 phenotype diploid accessions were considered Pop4. Thus, the average number of alleles per locus and observed heterozygosity for the overall sample set (Pop1) were 15.65 and 0.75, respectively. The population structure analysis identified two subpopulations in the diploid accessions (Pop2 and Pop4) and four in the triploids (Pop3). Regarding the Pop4, the population structure with K = 2 subpopulations segregation was in agreement with the UPGMA cluster analysis according to the genetic pairwise distances. Moreover, the accessions seemed to be segregated by their origin (Spanish/non-Spanish) in the clustering analysis. One of the two subpopulations encountered was quite-exclusively formed by non-Spanish accessions (30 out of 33). Furthermore, agronomical and basic fruit quality parameters, antioxidant traits, individual sugars, and organic acids were assessed for the association mapping analysis. A high level of biodiversity was exhibited in the phenotypic characterization of Pop4, and a total of 126 significant associations were found between the 23 SSR markers and the 21 phenotypic traits evaluated. This study also identified many new marker-locus trait associations for the first time, such as in the antioxidant traits or in sugars and organic acids, which may be useful for predictions and for a better understanding of the apple genome.

Five recipes of SnO2 - based ceramics masses were prepared. The influence of CeO2 additions on the properties of ceramic masses were studied. It was found that the CeO2 additions increase the electrical resistivity of these ceramic masses, but the electrical resistivity decreases with the CeO2 content. The CeO2 additions have the same influence on the activation energy for conductivity.

Abstract We associate Popa systems (= standard invariants of subfactors) to the finite dimensional representations of compact quantum groups. We characterise the systems arising in this way: these are the ones which can be “represented” on finite dimensional Hilbert spaces. This is proved by a universal construction. We explicitely compute (in terms of some free products) the operation of going from representations of compact quantum groups to Popa systems and the back via the universal construction. We prove a Kesten type result for the co-amenability of compact quantum groups, which allows us to compare it with the amenability of subfactors.

Pelayanan yang dimaksud adalah memberikan informasi yang bermanfaat dengan memanfaatkan teknologi tentunya. Informasi yang diinginkan oleh wisatawan harus diberikan oleh tour guide (pemandu) yang tentunya memahami tentang info sejarah dari benda/artefak yang terdapat dimuseum. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang aplikasi tour guide museum berbasis android untuk meningkatkan efektifitas dan efisiensi pelayanan Museum Popa Eyato Provinsi Gorontalo serta memperkecil peluang pengerusakan dan pencurian data. The Hrp type III secretion system (TTSS) is essential for the pathogenicity of Ralstonia solanacearum on host plants. Hrp TTSS is a specialized secretion system that injects virulence proteins, the so-called type III effector proteins, into plant cells. In R. solanacearum, the expression of Hrp TTSS-related genes is regulated by an AraC-type transcriptional activator, HrpB. We have identified 30 hrpB-regulated hpx ( hrpB-dependent expression) genes and three well-known hrpB-regulated genes, popA, popB and popC, as candidate effector genes in R. solanacearum strain RS1000. In this study, we newly cloned 11 additional candidate effector genes that share homology with known hpx genes from R. solanacearum RS1000. Using a Cya reporter system, we investigated the translocation of these 44 gene products into plant cells via the Hrp TTSS and identified 34 effector proteins. These include three effector families composed of more than four members, namely the Hpx4, Hpx30 and GALA families. The Hpx30 family effectors are 2200–2500 aa in size and appear to be the largest class of effector proteins among animal- and plant-pathogenic bacteria. Members of this family contain 12–18 tandem repeats of a novel 42 aa motif, designated SKWP repeats.

According to Vuk Karadzic, sung epic poetry accompanied by the gusle was spread by outlaws, travellers and the blind. Such blind men used to perform in homes, monasteries, and church fairs (in Banat, Backa, Slavonia and Srem, such a fair is known as the slava - patron saint?s day - of a church, village, town or monastery). After World War II, some literary authors and historians started to refer to the gusle players and singers who were blind as ?the blind singers?. These writers and literary historians started appreciating their singing as high art, so the view of their singing as a form of craft accompanied by begging they did for a living had to be changed. They believed that the artists were supposed to be remembered simply as ?blind singers?, rather than ?blind men?. Their lyrical achievement was valued more than their craft (singing) and social status (begging). Among the most adamant advocates of the new designation were university professor Vladan Nedic and the poet Vasko Popa.
