AbstractFor the solar sytem giant planets the measurement of the gravitational moments J2 and J4 provided valuable information about the interior structure. However, for extrasolar planets the gravitational moments are not accessible. Nevertheless, an additional constraint for extrasolar planets can be obtained from the tidal Love number k2, which, to first order, is equivalent to J2. k2 quantifies the quadrupolic gravity field deformation at the surface of the planet in response to an external perturbing body and depends solely on the planet's internal density distribution. On the other hand, the inverse deduction of the density distribution of the planet from k2 is non-unique. The Love number k2 is a potentially observable parameter that can be obtained from tidally induced apsidal precession of close-in planets (Ragozzine & Wolf 2009) or from the orbital parameters of specific two-planet systems in apsidal alignment (Mardling 2007). We find that for a given k2, a precise value for the core mass cannot be derived. However, a maximum core mass can be inferred which equals the core mass predicted by homogeneous zero metallicity envelope models. Using the example of the extrasolar transiting planet HAT-P-13b we show to what extend planetary models can be constrained by taking into account the tidal Love number k2.

Objective - This research aims to investigate the influence of the love of money and greed on the individual's ethical sensitivity. Methodology/Technique - The samples used are 50 students of accounting from Jember University. Path analysis is used to test the hypotheses. Findings - The results show that there is an influence of the Love of Money on Greed. Theoretically, when one has fulfilled one's primary needs, one is able to survive. But human beings are not easily satisfied thus, they would always want to gain more. A person who loves money would be glad when he/she owns money since the person thinks that money can give him/her the comforts of life and the money that he/she has, can be used in whatever way he/she prefers. The tidal deformability of a self-gravitating object leaves an imprint on the gravitational-wave signal of an inspiral which is paramount to measure the internal structure of the binary components. We unveil here a surprisingly unnoticed effect: in the extreme mass-ratio limit the tidal Love number of the central object (i.e. the quadrupole moment induced by the tidal field of its companion) affects the gravitational waveform at the leading order in the mass ratio. This effect acts as a magnifying glass for the tidal deformability of supermassive objects but was so far neglected, probably because the tidal Love numbers of a black hole (the most natural candidate for a compact supermassive object) are identically zero. We argue that extreme mass-ratio inspirals detectable by the future laser interferometric space antenna (LISA) mission might place constraints on the tidal Love numbers of the central object which are roughly eight orders of magnitude more stringent than current ones on neutron stars, potentially probing all models of black hole mimickers proposed so far.

Denna uppsats undersöker diskursen kring Linnémonumentet i Humlegården, Stockholm och Louis De Geer-statyn på Gamla Torget, Norrköping, samt diskuterar vilken betydelse skulpturerna fick under Black Lives Matter-demonstrationerna år 2020 i relation till antirasism och historiska företeelser av 'damnatio memoriae'. Med ett postkolonialt och kritiskt rasteoretiskt perspektiv syftar denna uppsats till att framhäva och analysera de resonemang som tog mest plats under debatten, centrerat kring antirasistiska och icke-vitas röster. Genomgående används därav den kritiska diskursanalysen och semiotiken som metoder för att skapa en förståelse kring auktoritet, samt att belysa det svenska samhällets syn på sin koloniala historia och lyfta diskussionen kring bland annat ras, klass, kön och makt i förhållande till den offentliga konsten. Uppsatsen resonerar sålunda hur offentliga och publika platser i samhället kan avkolonialiseras med avsikt att skapa ett hem för oss alla.
This thesis examines the discourse regarding the Linnaeus Monument in Humlegården, Stockholm, and the Louis De Geer statue at The Old Square, Norrköping. It further analyzes the significance that sculptures gained during the Black Lives Matter demonstrations in 2020, in relation to anti-racism and historical phenomena of 'damnatio memoriae'. With a theoretical framework of postcolonialism and critical race theory, this thesis aims to highlight and analyze the reasonings that were central during the debate, focusing on anti-racist and people of color's voices. Thus, critical discourse analysis and semiotics are used as methods to create an understanding of authority and to shed light on Sweden's own view of its colonial history and elevate the discussion concerning race, class, gender, and power, etcetera, in relation to public art. The thesis, hence, argues how public places in society can be decolonized with the intention of creating a home for all of us.

Neste trabalho pretendemos aceder a constructos definidores das relações interpessoais como o Amor, Amizade, Paixão e Atracção. Esta questão é relevante, por exemplo, para saber se os instrumentos de medida utilizados para estes conceitos medem aquilo a que se propõem. Será que conseguem medir distintamente os sentimentos de Amor, Atracção, Paixão e Amizade? Ou será que na natureza humana estes sentimentos se sobrepõem de tal forma que é impossível separá-los objectivamente? Para o efeito, fizemos um levantamento exaustivo das formas avaliativas escritas utilizadas por diferentes instrumentos, de modo a aceder a cada um destes constructos, e realizámos um estudo correlacional que se propõe lançar uma nova perspectiva na interpretação da conceptualização dos sentimentos de atracção. Verificámos que os constructos se sobrepõem em diferentes graus, que homens e mulheres não percebem os constructos de forma semelhante, e que as mulheres respondem mais fielmente às escalas em estudo. Se os constructos são percebidos como conceptualmente diferentes para ambos os sexos, talvez se devam construir instrumentos que permitam esta dualidade conceptual. A replicação deste estudo é sugerida, a fim de se obter mais informação acerca deste tema.
In this study we attempt to access defining constructs of interpersonal relationships like Love, Friendship, Passion, and Attraction. This is a relevant question to know, for instance, if the instruments used to measure these concepts are really measuring what they propose to. Do they really measure distinctly the feelings of Love, Friendship, Attraction, and Passion? Or is it that in the human nature they overlap in such way that it’s impossible to apart them objectively? We proceeded to an exhausting survey of the written forms of evaluation in several instruments and made a correlational study with the intent of giving a new perspective to the interpretation of the attraction feelings conceptualization. We found that the constructs overlap in different degrees, that men and women don’t perceive similarly the constructs, and that women respond more accurately to the scales in study. If the constructs are perceived as conceptually different for both sexes, then maybe the instruments should be elaborated in a way that enables this conceptual duality. We suggest the study replication in order to obtain further information on this theme.

To the extent that investors, entrepreneurs and businesspeople – or anyone else who has internalized the smarts of smart money – act as representatives of our collectively creative capacities, then new technologies, and perhaps even new policies and forms of governance, will be oriented around greening what we have – improving our lives and our planet – without ever questioning whether it is precisely these lives in possession of this planet that need to be challenged and ultimately transformed. This chapter points towards evaluating sociotechnical systems within what decolonial scholars would call a pluriversal context, one in which modern technological knowledge is considered to be one out of many legitimate ways of knowing and engaging with the world. Is it possible that there exists a green spirit that goes beyond capitalism; that we are more and better than this relatively simplistic, inward-looking and self-obsessed logic of profit-maximization? Liberating this green spirit will require hard work, political struggle, unexpected alliances and a deep sense of humility; we face a messy and uncertain future as we engage with the long and hard work of transforming our socio-ecological lives.

Virtual reality (VR) is becoming increasingly popular in educational applications, but insufficient users’ feel of immersion often slows the further adoption of VR. Many solutions with a focus on the results rather than the details of the interactions between the objects in the real and virtual worlds have been developed. Therefore, the real procedures are distorted and the users lose their perception of in-person participation. In order to improve the users’ feel of immersion further and to simulate more realistic operations in VR, a procedure-oriented approach for the combination of real and virtual environments is proposed here. As its name implies, this approach emphasizes the details of the procedures, namely how to capture, track, operate and interoperate the real and virtual objects in a mixed environment. In order to illustrate this idea, a prototype of mixed real and virtual assembly, in con-junction with object recognition and rigid-object tracking functions based on robotic vision techniques, is presented as an example. This prototype is designed based on a game-based virtual laoratory system, and the specific implementation is a planetary gear train experiment. In this experiment, all models of the parts with the information required for the assembly are created, labeled and added to the database of the virtual laboratory system. The physical parts are marked in order to facilitate object recognition and object tracking. During the experiment, the main assembly with one missing planetary gear is accomplished in a purely virtual environment. In the real world, the missing planetary gear is tracked by a Kinect while the user is manipulating this gear. Then, the system recognizes this gear based on the markers and couples the corresponding virtual model of that gear with the avatar’s hand in the virtual environment. Afterward, the cam-era tracks the real part, and the user can adjust its pose and location to finish the final assembly. The main benefit of this implementation is that the user can take advantage of some simple real parts in conjunction with virtual models of sophisticated parts in order to get realistic experience with the assembly process.

La COVID-19 golpea con fuerza la región marcada que tendrá que afrontar una contracción del 9,4%, una de las más severas en todo el planeta. La desigualdad, la informalidad y la insuficiente dotación sanitaria lastran las posibilidades de hacer frente a la pandemia. Pero son los más vulnerables quienes asumen el costo, hasta 52 millones de personas que podrían caer en la pobreza y 40 millones podrían perder sus empleos, un retroceso de 15 años para la región. Pero la COVID-19 no afecta a todos por igual, una élite se mantiene inmune al contagio de la crisis económica. Desde el principio de los confinamientos, hay 8 nuevos milmillonarios en América Latina y el Caribe, personas con un patrimonio superior a los mil millones de dólares. Las personas más ricas han aumentado su fortuna en US$ 48 200 millones desde marzo 2020, lo que equivale a un tercio del total de los paquetes de estímulo de todos los países de la región. Para hacer frente a esta crisis tan profunda, Oxfam propone una serie de reformas que recaigan sobre quienes más tienen y menos han sufrido la pandemia. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, forecasts for economic and social decline in Latin America and the Caribbean are alarming. The region will face a 9.4% contraction in its economy, among the most severe in the world. Coping with the pandemic is hindered by inequality, weak and insufficient social protection and limited public health capabilities. Up to 52 million people could fall into poverty and 40 million could lose their jobs – a 15-year setback for the region. Yet, an elite remains ‘immune’ to the contagion of the economic crisis. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 8 new billionaires in LAC: 1 every 2 weeks since the lockdowns began. The richest people have increased their fortune by $48.2bn since March 2020, equivalent to a third of the total stimulus packages of all countries in the region. In this paper, Oxfam proposes a series of reforms targeting those who have being less affected by the pandemic. They include a net wealth tax that could potentially generate $14.3bn, 50 times more than billionaires in the region pay now in theory, under current tax systems.
