Commault, Gilles. „Les personnages secondaires cadjins dans la littérature anglophone du vingtième siècle“. Rennes 2, 2006. http://www.theses.fr/2006REN20007.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis is about the background and minor Cajun characters that are to be found in the anglophone Twentieth-Century American novels. Are they mere words without any connection to the real Louisiana ? Or do they represent, through the prism of their fictionnal Louisiana where they act, something about the real Cajuns (as a community), or, at least, about the way these people are considered by the following writers : William Faulkner, Ernest John Gaines, James Lee Burke, Tim Gautreaux and Walker Percy ? We devote the first part of the thesis to the theory of character and consider that the second option is the more convenient. In the second part, we analyse the manifestation of characters as agents, " actants ", performers, and to what extent they are part of the narration. The third part leads us to consider how they contribute to the reader's perception of the frontiers, distance, expanse and referential density of the fictive Louisianas they inhabit, according the Vincent Jouve's theory. In the end, we analyse the values they carry, either in the texts' intructions or through the characters' talking
Lee, Hwa-Sook. „Les personnages secondaires dans "à la recherche du temps perdu" de Marcel Proust“. Paris 4, 2004. http://www.theses.fr/2004PA040022.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis study is concerned with " secondary characters ", introduced in a discontinuous way and intermittently in the story. "In search of lost time" characters can be considered ironic in their presentation and their identities which emphasize the aesthetic structure of the novel. In fact the secondary characters appear in "fugitive language" in the work, and at the same time represent multiple aspects of ego in the story. Their singular representations echo the desires of others, the obsessive examination of the truth which continues and progresses in oneself, the listening to impulses and the emergence of an eminently subjective aesthetic while the various characters move in the past, recent ironic remainders which allow for the integration of an invisible and virtual element of reality in the literary form. Proust places great importance on his secondary characters : they have a strong presence in his literary universe. It is the cyclic, regular return of these characters which gives them their deep literary value. In Proust's work , the secondary characters have a privileged status, designed deliberately by the novelist

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis is interested in how oracles are inserted in a narration in the book of Jeremiah (Jr) ; for this purpose the oracles destined to five secondary characters are analyzed by reframing them into their narrative context. Since the diachronic studies, which were the majority in the xxth century, cannot account for the meaning of the final stage of the text of Jr in a satisfying manner, this research takes part to the synchronic way of analyzing this book developed in the last decades. Before the intended analysis, two preambles must be studied, at the crossing of narrative theory, Hebrew syntax, and specificities of Jr : the characteristics and relations of the literary forms of narration and reported speech ; the different types of characters along the history of literature and the best-fitted categories for analyzing Jr’s characters. Then are studied the oracles intended for Pashhur son of Immer, Ebed-Melech, Baruch, Gedaliah, and Zedekiah. The « character-effect » soon appears to be quite limited, calling for a solution situated out of the fabula to the puzzle created by the narration. The causality for the divine judgments expressed in the oracles can be reconstructed thanks to the discovery of verbal echoes and resonances between preceding oracles and the narrativization of characters. This exegetical result intersects with the theology of revelation and challenges the paradigms upon which it was built both at the beginning of Christianism and at Vatican ii. The thinking of the revelation of the paternity of God can be founded anew upon a theological interpretation of the reader’s new capacities

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe European historical novel (United Kingdom, France, German and Italian states) is explicitly anchored, in the first decades of the 19th century, in the contemporary national issues. Not only does it take part in the formulation of national history, but it also opens the narration of history to new figures – most of them fictional – from the people and even from the fringes of society: beggars, bandits, madmen and madwomen, gypsies and other outcasts parade across the pages of these best-selling novels. This multifaceted category in the historical novels may be subsumed under the concept of “social margin” which underlines its paradoxical unity: figures rather than characters, insofar as they both play highly individualized roles and may be read as types, they are defined by an aesthetic, social and narrative fluidity. Because they frequently change costumes and appearance, move freely along the whole social spectrum and often serve in the plot as triggers or unsettling elements, social outcasts create a space of uncertainty in the historical novels. They question or even disrupt the norms: in the representation of history, which shouldn’t be based on the singular or the eccentric, but also in the new social and national standards. These characters on the fringes of society – epitomes, as it were, of instability – establish in the historical novels an even larger issue, encouraging us to examine usually accepted borders between social and asocial, human and non-human, and even life and death. Blurring many epistemological dualisms, they invite us to redefine the idea of limit and to consider under a new light the composite essence of the historical novel

Der volle Inhalt der Quelle"Play has always been pushed away from Literature studies”, wrote Michel Picard in 1986. Accord-ing to him, we wish to consider, in a didactic approach, the articulation between playing and read-ing a complex French literary heritage. In doing so, we try to reconcile ludological and didactic liter-ary spheres by suggesting a pedagogical device which allows all high school students and even the weakest readers to read a Racinian tragedy. We defend that role play, within the classroom, clari-fies the game of reading. Role play links both intimate and social reading dimensions. It also allows to bring out, around a compulsory and difficult school text, a real pleasure of peer reading. As an extension of research and work on the subject-reader, our research proposition is to consid-er role play as a didactic track to motivate the reading of literary heritage.First, we define fictional immersion and consider it as a common source of pleasure to reading and role-playing. Then we summarize how motivation is considered as a way to stimulate students reading implication in the teaching of literature and think role-play as a motivation vector. Consid-ering literary heritage as an object of teaching we hypothesize role play as a meeting point for play and literary studies. Next, we present a reading device which brings about a profound modification of the reading process in the classroom, associating classic tragedy with a role-playing game. This role-playing game is based on Racinian tragedies, a formal and demanding work for young high school students. Reading becomes collaborative between peers gathered in “character circles”. Our work presents the results of an exploratory research conducted in four general high school classes. We demonstrate that such a playful device makes it possible to motivate reading in wide and di-verse high school classes, even with non-readers. Furthermore it allows students to develop a sin-gular appropriation of literary work within the community of the class while developing skills
