Social networking sites (SNSs) are growing in popularity and diversity. Prior research has shown that SNSs use is correlated with various personality traits including narcissism. To date, no work has examined the association between SNSs use and self-actualization. Given the potential overlap of narcissism and self-actualization, the goal of the present study was to first examine the conceptual overlap of these two intrapersonal characteristics. We then sought to examine the associations between SNSs use, narcissism, and self-actualization with an expectation that self-actualization would mediate the association between SNSs use and narcissism. One thousand six hundred and four adults completed an online survey with questions to assess their demographic traits, SNSs activities, and personality characteristics. Results indicated some overlap between narcissism and self-actualization; but, in general, each was a distinct personality trait. Results also demonstrated that the association between self-actualization and SNSs usage was not significant. Contrary to our prediction, self-actualization did not mediate the association between SNSs activities and narcissism. Finally, the study found that narcissism scores were reportedly higher after using SNSs than they were prior to SNSs use.

Объектом исследования явилась самоактуализация. Предметом исследования – особенности самоактуализации молодых людей с разным уровнем притязаний. Магистерская диссертация состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения, списка литературы (60 источников) и приложения, включающего в себя статистические данные по используемым методикам. Объем магистерской диссертации 75 страниц, на которых размещены 4 рисунка и 12 таблиц. Во введении раскрывается актуальность проблемы исследования, разработанность проблематики, ставятся цель и задачи исследования, определяются объект и предмет исследования, формулируются основная и дополнительные гипотезы, указываются методы и эмпирическая база, а также этапы проведения исследования, научная новизна, теоретическая и практическая значимость работы. Первая глава включает в себя обзор иностранной и отечественной литературы по теме самоактуализации личности. Проанализирована характеристика самоактуализирующейся личности по подходам разных авторов и проведена связь с уровнем притязаний. Выводы по первой главе представляют собой итоги по изучению теоретического материала. Вторая глава посвящена эмпирической части исследования. В ней представлено описание организации и методов проведенного исследования и результатов, полученных по всем использованным методикам: Самоактуализационный тест Э. Шостром в адаптации Ю.Е. Алешина, Л.Я. Гозман, М.В. Загика, М.В. Кроз, Оценка уровня притязаний, разработанный В. Гербечевским, тест Пирамида потребностей А. Маслоу. Также в главе представлен сравнительный и корреляционный анализ результатов исследования. Выводы по главе 2 включают в себя основные результаты эмпирического исследования. В заключении в обобщенном виде изложены результаты теоретической и эмпирической частей работы, а также выводы по выдвинутым гипотезам, обоснована практическая значимость исследования.
The object of the research is self-actualization. The subject of the research is the features of self-actualization of young people with different levels of aspirations. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a list of references (60 sources) and an appendix that includes statistical data on the methods used. The volume of the master's thesis is 75 pages, which contain 4 figures and 12 tables. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, the elaboration of the problematics, the goal and objectives of the research are set, the object and subject of the research are determined, the main and additional hypotheses are formulated, the methods and empirical base are indicated, as well as the stages of the research, scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter includes a review of foreign and domestic literature on the topic of personality self-actualization. The characteristics of a self-actualizing personality are analyzed according to the approaches of different authors and a connection is made with the level of aspirations. Conclusions for the first chapter represent the results of the study of theoretical material. The second chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study. It contains a description of the organization and methods of the study and the results obtained by all the methods used: Self-actualization test by E. Shostrom as adapted by Yu.E. Aleshina, L. Ya. Gozman, M.V. Zagika, M.V. Croz, Assessment of the level of claims, developed by V. Gerbechevsky, A. Maslow's Pyramid of Needs test. The chapter also presents a comparative and correlation analysis of the research results. Conclusions from Chapter 2 include the main findings of the empirical study. The conclusion summarizes the results of the theoretical and empirical parts of the work, as well as conclusions on the hypotheses put forward, substantiates the practical significance of the study.

Un projecte del «jo» que ha d’iniciar el camí cap a la reflexivitat. Una reflexivitat que tendeixi ponts cap a l’emotivitat i a la intel·ligència emocional. Els de l’autoconeixement i de l’art d’ampliació de totes aquestes vies. D’algú que ha de conèixer i dominar els seus propis racons del «jo». El projecte del «jo» que s’indaga i que tracta d’implicar molt més amb sí mateix. En el present document presento els continguts realitzats en el projecte de tesi doctoral des de la metodologia narrativa: L’autobiografia en els processos de construcció del jo en la recerca de la reflexivitat: la narració del jo al servei de la transformació i la resiliència que té com a objectiu principal l’estudi sobre les metodologies didàctiques i la pedagogia basada amb l’escriptura per als processos d’autoconeixement i transformació en alumnes de qualsevol ensenyament orientats a generar processos de resiliència i/o transformació. Aquesta didàctica de l’escriptura pròpia dotaria més als educands de pautes de coneixement, creixement i maduració conscient no sols envers a ells mateixos sinó també des de la dimensió sociocèntrica i sociocrítica en l’atenció a l’altre. La fonamentació teòrica s’ha plantejat en configurar mitjançant la narració, i a través de la seva construcció, una mediació preparada per re – dimensionar tota experiència vital, vocacional i professional (tota activitat que es dirigeix a fer avançar a la persona) re – anomenant-la, re – significant-la per possibilitar un procés continu de construcció i de reflexió. Per això el plantejament és teòric en el sentit de partir de moltes fonts bibliogràfiques que fomenten o han fomentat l’escriptura autobiogràfica, la fenomenologia que es descriu en ella, i la transformació i resiliència que són els dos elements que busca l’escriptura fenomenològica hermenèutica. S’han identificat en els relats analitzats del subjectes de la mostra ja algunes dimensions d’anàlisi del seu procés d’escriptura resilient autobiogràfica: - els moments clau que s’identifiquen des dels que construir tots els elements del jo, - les transformacions en la pròpies indagacions fenomenològica i hermenèutica i les direccions que es poden emprendre, alhora que es veuen els camins entre la reflexió i la poètica, sobretot entre Gadamer, Nietzsche, Foucault, Barthes, Heidegger, Mújica, M.Zambrano, Pessoa. - S’han identificat en els relats analitzats del subjectes de la mostra ja algunes dimensions d’anàlisi del seu procés d’escriptura resilient autobiogràfica: - els moments clau que s’identifiquen des dels que construir tots els elements del jo, - les transformacions en la pròpies indagacions fenomenològica i hermenèutica i les direccions que es poden emprendre, alhora que es veuen els camins entre la reflexió i la poètica, sobretot entre Gadamer, Nietzsche, Foucault, Barthes, Heidegger, Mújica, M.Zambrano, Pessoa. - indicadors de millora de la creativitat, altruisme, reconeixement i la relació amb el jo, i els seus principals miralls, els altres (l’escriptura i els tallers d’escriptura com a reflex) i el món. Les tipologies formatives de l’escriptura autobiogràfica des de la incidència del taller d’escriptura són: - totes les conseqüències curriculars, didàctiques i pedagògiques. - indicadors de l’impacte de l’escriptura autobiogràfica per a la resiliència dels subjectes. - competències i factors clau d’èxit de l’escriptura autobiogràfica: *autoindagació; *reflexivitat; *competències de descoberta i experimentació; *l’autoaprenentatge, *la metacognició; *el pensament estratègic *les competències emprenedores *la dimensió artístico-estètica del relat com a obertura per a la reinvenció personal; *la recuperació de la memòria subjectiva i intersubjectiva; *l’autoavaluació; *l’autolideratge; *la capacitat de prospectiva personal i d’anticipar-se i crear projectes del jo per al futur. En aquest sentit s’han realitzat tallers d’escriptura creativa on s’han indagat aspectes sobre les històries de vida i en quines fases i metodologies han influït en les persones autores i en quins aspectes i nivells han pogut transformar vivències i percepcions tant en les valències de les seves escriptures, com en autoconeixement i valors personals respecte a les seves existències, tant respecte als seus pensaments, com emocions i sentiments en la seva percepció de la seva vida en la diversitat d’experiències viscudes.
This is a project of thesis of character investigatory that proposes a phenomenology hermeneutics to the autobiographical writing with a point start and surely of vital inflection. A project of the «self» that has to initiate the path to the reflexivity. A reflexivity that tend bridges to emotiveness and to the emotional intelligence. The ones of (auto) knowledge and of the art of extension of all these roads. Somebody that has to know and dominate his own corners of the «self». In the present document present the contents realised in the project of thesis doctoral since the narrative methodology: Autobiography in the processes of building of the I in the research of the reflexivity: the narration of the I to the service of the transformation and the resilience that has as a main aim study on the didactic methodologies and the pedagogy based with writing for the processes of self knowledge and transformation in students of any education oriented to generate processes of resilience and/or transformation. This didactic of the own writing would endow more to the educated of model of knowledge, growth and conscious mellowing conscious not only towards to them same but also since the dimension socio central and socio critical in the attention to other. The theoretical foundation has posed in configuring by means of the narration, and through his building, a mediation prepared by re -dimension all vital experience, vocational and professional (all activity that heads to do advance to the person) re–calling it, re–meaning it to be possible a continuous process of building and of reflection. Therefore the approach is theoretical in the sense to split of many bibliographic sources that promotes or have promoted autobiographical writing, the phenomenology that describes in her, and the transformation and resilience that they are the two elements that looks for writing phenomenological hermeneutics.

Höstterminen 2014 Today’s students show great divergences in incentives for commencing studies at an Upper Secondary Dance Educational School in Sweden. The level of the individual`s motivation both during the prelusive and pending stages of the education, shows great variance. The aim of the study is to find a correlation between the individual’s motivation level and the individual´s conceiving of enhancement or deprivation of inner needs. To which extent is the comprehension and consideration towards these needs, a direct agency in effecting the desire for self- engaged and lifelong learning? In which manner can a deeper and wider understanding of the needs for self- actualization, ensure a more sturdy and coherent motivation towards the experience of learning? Through motivation psychology as an angel of approach, the study incorporates the three methods; observation, projective testing and literary studies. Conscious and unconscious personality traits and states are chartered. The conjunction with various sources of stimuli subsequently indicates the deriving of behavior. The study indicates the need of educational practitioner’s insight and understanding towards the individual pupil’s apperception of the social world. Also the study indicates the importance of implementing this knowledge, in ensuring cohesiveness and sustainability of motivation for self- engaged lifelong learning.

A survey of literature has revealed that there is a need for a reliability and validity study of the Personal Orientation Inventory in South Africa. The two major objectives of this research where therefore to determine firstly, the test-retest reliability of the Personal Orientation Inventory and secondly, to establish the construct validity, in other words, how well the Personal Orientation Inventory correlates with other measures purporting to measure similar traits. The total sample of 317 individuals used in this research, consisted of both male and female school leavers such as students and national servicemen, ranging in age from 17 to 22 years. The results of this introductory study regarding reliability and validity of the Personal Orientation Inventory in South Africa demonstrated clear support for similar research done overseas and showed to be compatible with the humanistic psychology movement's original concept of self-actualization.

This study focuses on the concept of resilience, and seeks to determine the nature, and role, of personal attributes in adolescents' ability to bounce back from life's blows, and continue determinedly along the path of self-actualisation. The personal attributes impacting on the ability to surmount life's challenges are delineated by an empirical study focussing on twenty learning-disabled adolescents, half of whom demonstrate resilience, and half of whom appear to have turned their backs on self-actualisation. The study aims to provide educational psychologists with an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon of resilience, so that vulnerable youngsters might ultimately be therapeutically assisted to choose a more resilient attitude and behaviour. The results of the study delineate nine definite personal attributes which anchor resilience and promote self-actualisation, despite obstacle-ridden circumstances. Furthermore, results suggest that personal choice underlies resilience, implying that intervention targeted at inculcating resilience may well be a worthwhile exercise.

In a study of psychological well-being, the researcher attempted to address the challenge of preventing mental illness and promoting mental health using an educational psychological perspective based on Unisa's Relations Theory. According to Relations Theory, humans are understood by the relationships they form. The intra-psychic interaction of the components of the intra-psychic structure (I/ego, self, identity and self-concept) is responsible for people's behaviour, with the essences (attachment of meaning, involvement, experience and self-actualising) and the prerequisites (the forming of relations , the life-world and climate) forming the basis of the structure. The researcher developed and administered a questionnaire on psychological well-being and conducted interviews, and on the basis of the findings reports that psychological well-being from an educational psychological perspective consists of a healthy and positive ego and self, clearly defined identities, positive thoughts and feelings, involvement in the life world, a positive and realistic self-concept and constructive self-talk, and self-realisation.

This study focuses on the feasibility of inculcating resilience skills in adolescents using the forum of group therapy. Resilience equals the ability to surmount life's obstacles and continue towards self-actualisation, regardless. The study was initiated by the writer's masters thesis, which delineated the profile and characteristics of resilient adolescents. The writer believed that an intervention programme to effect resilience was overdue. Adolescents were generally afforded therapy re-actively. If intervention was to be an exercise in wellness, rather than in repair, a pro-active intervention programme targeting resilience had to be designed. This study focuses on the provision of such a programme. The intervention programme is semi-structured and spans twelve one hour sessions. The intervention programme specifically targets adolescents, given the amplified vulnerability associated with this developmental phase. Should resilience be sabotaged during this phase of life, the repercussions are thought to be lasting. Group therapy was chosen as the forum for intervention, given its suitability to adolescents. Adolescents are peer-group-minded, suggesting that therapeutic intervention by means of group work, would be ideal, if competently lead. The personal attributes impacting on the ability to surmount life's challenges are targeted as an interrelated whole by the group therapy intervention programme involving an experimental group of six adolescents, who appear to have turned their backs on self- actualisation. A control group, which receives no intervention, provides a contrasting profile. The study aims to provide educational psychologists with an intervention programme and an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon of resilience, so that vulnerable youngsters might ultimately be therapeutically assisted to choose a more resilient attitude and behaviour. The results of the study suggest the feasibility of inculcating resilience skills. Four of the six group members in the experimental group show marked improvement. Of the remaining two members, one shows some amelioration of vulnerability. Furthermore, results suggest that personal choice underlies resilience, implying that resilience can be coached. Additionally, it would seem that schools can play a leading role in this coaching by facilitating intervention groups.

Vir die doel van hierdie navorsing, is toesighouersukses (volgens prestasiebeoordeling), die afhanklike veranderlike terwyl persoonlikheid. selfaktualisering en toesighouersvaardigheid die onafhanklike veranderlikes is. This dissertation focuses on personality. self-actualisation and supervisory skills as predictors of supervisor success. The dimensional and humanistic personality theories were used to describe personality and self-actualisation while supervisory skills were explained in the context of management psychology. A psychometric battery was compiled consisting of three instruments to evaluate personality (16 PF Questionnaire). self-actualisation (Personality Orientation Questionnaire). and supervisory skills (In-basket Exercise) respectively. In this research supervisory success is the dependent variable. and personality, self-actualisation and supervisory skills the independent variables. The psychometric battery were used to determines if any correlation exists between: a) personality, self-actualisation and supervisory skills b) personality, self-actualisation and supervisory skills. and performance. c) personality, self-actualisation and supervisory skills combined and performance through the formulation of statistical combinations. The results were provided. interpreted and discussed. The conclusion was reached that the statictical combination or parts of the three psychometric instruments combined could be used to predict supervisory success.

This research investigated the psychometric characteristics of self-actualisation, locus of control, sense of coherence and emotional intelligence as constructs of psychological wellness. Details of the intercorrelatedness of the various constructs will assist in understanding the nature of psychological wellness and its measurement. In the literature review a definition for psychological wellness was determined by studying various definitions and models of psychological wellness. During this investigation it was determined that the four constructs mentioned above were related to psychological wellness. An explorative factor analysis was conducted to address the empirical research questions. Three factors (psychological adjustment, self-actualisation and stress management) were extracted from the analysis. The descriptive statistics were analysed in terms of management responsibility, gender and race. The findings of the explorative factor analysis supported the theoretical definition of psychological wellness. It was found that self-actualisation played a key role in psychological wellness. Meaningfulness, although indicating a low loading on all three factors, must be present to provide meaning to day to day functioning.

Hierdie proefskrif handel oor 'n selfaktualiseringsbenadering tot bestuursukses binne 'n finansiele instelling. Die stand punt word gehuldig dat bestuurders wat reeds hoer vlakke van selfaktualisering bereik het oor die persoonlikheidskenmerke (intrapersoonlike, interpersoonlike en werkskenmerke) beskik wat tot bestuursukses lei. Hierdie standpunt, wat gegrond is op die uitgangspunte van die humanistiese benadering, is nog nie in finansiele instellings nagevors nie. Die volgende literatuurdoelstellings is in hierdie navorsing bereik: 'n Ge"integreerde beskouing van die vernaamste humanistiese persoonlikheidsteoriee, wat dien as metateoretiese raamwerk vir hierdie navorsing, is daargestel. - Die konsep selfaktualisering is omskryf en die persoonlikheidskenmerke van die selfaktualiserende persoon is ge"identifiseer. - Die konsep bestuursukses is omskryf en die persoonlikheidskenmerke van die suksesvolle bestuurder is ge"identifiseer. - Meetbare bestuursukseskriteria asook meetinstrumente vir die meet daarvan is ge"identifiseer. 'n Psigometriese toetsbattery is saamgestel uit die Algemene Gesondheidsvraelys, Verstandelike-helderheidstoets, Sestien-persoonlikheidsfaktorvraelys, Persoonlikeorienteringsvraelys, Rottervraelys, RGN Gevallestudietegniek-enbesluitnemingsvraelys en die Biografiese vraelys. Hierdie meetinstrumente is as klassifikasieveranderlikes gebruik om die meetbare komponente van die konstruk selfaktualisering by bestuurders van 'n finansiele instelling te meet. Besuursukses, as kriteriumveranderlike, is met die prestasiebestuurevaluering- en werknemer -effektiwiteitsvraelys gemeet. Uit die statistiese analise (meervoudigeregressie-analise) blyk dit dat 15 klassifikasieveranderlikes met bestuursukses verband hou. Die meervoudige korrelasie R (aangepas vir getal gevalle en getal klassifikasieveranderlikes) is gelyk aan 0,54. Daar is dus in hierdie navorsing 'n verband gevind tussen die konsepte selfaktualisering en bestuursukses soos gemeet by bestuurders van 'n finansiele instelling. Verskeie klassifikasieveranderlikes toon 'n paraboliese verband met bestuursukses. Dit dui daarop dat 'n relatiewe aanwesigheid of sterkte van spesifieke persoonlikheidskenmerke noodsaaklik is vir bestuursukses. lndien 'n sekere optimale punt egter oorskry word, het dit 'n nadelige effek op bestuursukses. Die gevolgtrekking word gemaak dat die evalueringstegnieke en psigometriese instrumente wat in hierdie navorsing gebruik is en wat 'n verband (reglynig of parabolies) met bestuursukses getoon het, binne die finansiele instelling gebruik kan word om bestuurders met bestuurspotensiaal te identifiseer. Aanbevelings is ten opsigte van die gebruikswaarde van die konsep selfaktualisering vir die praktyk en vir verdere navorsing geformuleer.
This thesis examines the self-actualisation approach to management success within a financial institution. The premise is that managers who have already reached high levels of self-actualisation possess the personality traits (intrapersonal, interpersonal and work traits) that lead to management success. This premise, which is based on the points of view of the humanistic approach, has not yet been researched in a financial institution. The following literature objectives were achieved in this research: - An integrated view of the major humanistic personality theories, which serve as metatheoretic framework for this research, has been compiled. - The concept of self-actualisation has been defined and the personality traits of the self-actualising person identified. - The concept of management success has been defined and the personality traits of the successful manager identified. - Measurable management success criteria as well as measuring instruments for measuring these criteria have been identified. A psychometric test battery has been compiled from the General Health Questionnaire, Mental Alertness Test, Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire, Personal Orientation Questionnaire, Rotter Questionnaire, HSRC Case Study Technique and Decision-making Questionnaire and the Biographical Questionnaire. These measuring instruments were used as classification variables to measure the measurable components of the selj-actualisation construct among managers of a financial institution. Management success, as a criterion variable, was measured using the performance management evaluation and employee effectiveness questionnaires. From the statistical analysis (multiple-regression analysis) it is evident that 15 classification variables relate to management success. The multiple correlation R (adjusted for number of cases and number of classification variables) equals 0,54. A relation has therefore been found in this research between the concepts of selfactualisation and management success as measured in managers of a financial institution. Several classification variables show a parabolic relation to management success. This indicates that a relative presence or strength of specific personality traits is essential for management success. However, when a certain optimal point is exceeded, this has a detrimental effect on management success. The conclusion is reached that the evaluation techniques and psychometric instruments used in this research, which showed a relation (whether rectilineal or parabolic) with management success, may be employed at a financial institution to identify managers with management potential. Recommendations in respect of the usefulness of the self-actualisation concept for the practical environment and for future research were formulated.

The complexity of mental development in humans together with human interaction in the social context presents itself to be a continued source of investigation and exploration. Emotional Intelligence (EI) is such a field of study in the discipline of psychology. Researchers emphasized the importance and value of emotional development ("soft-skills") equal to cognitive development (“hard-skills”). EI abilities are associated with key skills and competencies required for operating successfully in today’s organizations. This study focused on this theme specifically and tried to determine how EI training impacted on the success of the individual who fits the modern working profile and how emotionally intelligent employees are beneficial to organisational success overall. An ethnographic qualitative study (including an autoethnography) was performed on individuals of different participant groupings who completed the Neuro-Link EI Program. The aim was to assess if they showed increased growth in areas of EI, specifically addressed in the program namely self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and social management. Findings indicated that EI training works with positive results. It was of great value to the individual having an immense impact on their personal lives. It further had a major positive impact on the group dynamics of individuals who attended the training. At companies where facilitators presented the program, EI training had a positive impact. A conclusion on the impact that such training had on the two companies whose staff members directly participated in this study, was not yet possible at the time of the study. The development of an awareness model for the promotion of EI training in the workplace is recommended. This may increase available knowledge regarding corporate EI training but also accelerates an emerging, but a too slowly growing movement.

Hierdie ondersoek handel oor die psigometriese verwantskappe tussen verskeie konseptualiserings van psigologiese optimaliteit. Die konsepte selfaktualisering (vanuit 'n humanistiese raamwerk), gevoel van koherensie en aangeleerde vernuftigheid (vanuit 'n behavioristiese en salutogenesis paradigma) is vir die doeleindes van hierdie ondersoek gekies. Die gekose meetinstrumente, naamlik die Persoonlike Orientasievraelys vir selfaktualisering, die Lewensorientasievraelys vir gevoel van koherensie en die Selfkontroleskedule vir aangeleerde vernuftigheid, is op 'n steekproef van 200 middelvlakbestuurders in 'n semi-staatsdiensorganisasie afgeneem. Pearsonkorrelasiekoeffisiente is bereken en 'n faktorontleding is gedoen. Daar is verskeie beduidende korrelasies verkry tussen die subskale van die Persoonlike Orientasievraelys en die Lewensorientasievraelys, maar slegs enkele beduidende korrelasies tussen die Persoonlike Orientasievraelys en die Selfkontroleskedule. Die Lewensorientasievraelys en die Selfkontroleskedule het egter beduidend gekorreleer. Die faktorontleding het getoon dat selfaktualisering aan die een kant, en gevoel van koherensie en aangeleerde vernuftigheid aan die ander kant as twee verskillende konstrukte van psigologiese optimaliteit beskou kan word.
The relationships between various conceptualisations of psychological optimisation are investigated. The concepts of self-actualisation (from a humanistic paradigm), sense of coherence and learned resourcefulness (from a salutogenesis paradigm) are relevant. The measuring instruments were the Personal Orientation Inventory (POl), the Orientation to Life Questionnaire (OLQ) and the Self Control Schedule (SCS). They were administered by means of random sampling of 200 middle level managers in a semi-government organisation. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated and a factor analysis was done. Several significant correlations were obtained between the subscales of the POl and the OLQ, but limited correlations were found between the POl and the SCS. However, significant correlations between the OLQ and the SCS were apparent. The factor analysis demonstrated that self-actualisation on the one hand and sense of coherence as well as learned resourcefulness on the other hand may be regarded as two seperate constructs of psychological optimisation.

The aim of this study is to discover to what extent and in what way Peterson and Seligman’s (2004) twenty-four character strengths are present in Winnie the Pooh storybooks, and how they are depicted. Character strengths are a well-known theory in positive psychology and the analysis of children’s literature is a respected genre. A qualitative examination of the text was conducted using content and thematic analyses to extract examples of the strengths. The exemplars were coded and recoded before being subjected to a peer and supervisor review. The excerpts indicated that all strengths are depicted in the text, but Pooh is the only character to exhibit them all. A discussion of the findings revealed that no single strength could be deemed more prominent as they are intrinsically interconnected. It is recommended that the findings be reworked into a training manual for guardians to foster character strengths in young children.
