Gardens and gardenng often mean different things to different people. When I was invited to join a committee about nine years ago for a garden centre for people with disabilities, I was, to say he least, tentative. I knew more about disabled people and their needs and more about volunteers than gardening. I enquired about the centre and the committee. The Centre had been established by an idea sown by Kevin Heinze, the well known television gardener and educator, after he had seen a garden for people with disabilities overseas—one to work in, not just to sit in. He interested many people with the idea of developing such a garden in Melbourne. The Doncaster Council then negotiated with the State Electricity Commission about the use of some land believed suitable in Doncaster, approximately 25 km from the city. This was in 1979. I accepted the invitation to join the Kevin Heinze Garden Centre Committee just a few months after it had started operating. This paper will describe the development of the Centre and its value for people with intellectual and physical disabilities, and the work of the co-ordinator and volunteers.

Purpose. The aim of this article is to present an emerging theoretical framework for viewing certain types of personal crises as developmentally healthy rather than as psycho-pathological. These types of crises are referred to as “spiritual emergence” and “spiritual emergency.” Search Methods Used. Selected literature from psychology, psychiatry, and philosophy is used to describe the new paradigm, which views the development of human consciousness across the life span as going beyond the well-adjusted and productive adult ego. The intent is to introduce this paradigm and some of its implications for further critical consideration by health promotion professionals. It is not the authors' purpose to critically evaluate the relevant theoretical literature in this article. Summary of Important Findings. The new paradigm represents an expanded theory of human development that explicitly recognizes a spiritual dimension in personal growth and health. Within this paradigm, spiritual emergence and spiritual emergency are viewed as signs of transitional, personal growth rather than as symptoms of psychopathology. Accordingly, signs of growth need to be differentiated from symptoms of pathology. The first step in doing this is to contextualize human experience in a larger developmental framework. Major Conclusions. Health promotion professionals may benefit personally and professionally by being aware of the new developmental paradigm which differentiates spiritual growth from pathological symptoms. Further theoretical clarification and research will be needed before detailed recommendations for practice can be made.

In order to ascertain the impact of product design, personal branding, distribution, and digital marketing on purchasing choices for kpop albums on the Weverse Shop app, study was carried out. An electronic survey that was given to both women and men who had purchased K-pop records through the Weverse Shop program served as the basis for this study's quantitative approach, which included a purposive sampling method of 112 respondents. Multiple linear regression analysis, partial analyzing (t testing), and testing the coefficient of determination are all employed in data analysis (R2). The analysis's results, which were obtained using SPSS version 25, also reveal that while the distribution and digital marketing variables have a significant impact on buying behavior, the product design and personal brand variables have a significant effect.

It was found 53 studies, excluded seven, and analyzed 46 researches. The studies focused on scale psychometric proprieties, relations of personal initiative growth and others constructs. Furthermore the studies investigated the impact of interventions to promote personal growth initiative. It was demonstrated that personal growth initiative was positively related to positive dimensions, such as self-esteem and well-being, and negatively to negative factors, among these anxiety and depression.

Abstract This paper explores the place where dance and religious faith meet. It gives examples of learning experiences and processes of personal and spiritual growth that occur there. The paper is based on a study of dance in Christian contexts in contemporary Norway, that is part of the RESEP (Religion as Aestheticizing Practice) research project based at the University of Agder, Norway. The empirical material is based on participant observation of dance in churches and other Christian settings and on interviews with approximately 50 dancers in these settings. Dance provides the participating dancers with multidimensional meaning and perceived benefits. Through narratives and quotations, the paper sheds light on three ways in which the dancers in question experience processes that lead to growth through dance: 1) as a holistic and attractive way of learning and communicating, 2) as personal growth; by mastering dance through self-expression in a supportive environment, expressing and processing emotions, and moving towards better mental and physical health and wholeness, 3) as spiritual growth; by providing an interface with God that strengthens one’s listening to both God and oneself, and as a way of living their faith in interaction with others.

Achieving personal growth often requires experiencing discomfort. What if instead of tolerating discomfort (e.g., feeling awkward or uncomfortable), people actively sought it out? Because discomfort is usually experienced immediately and is easy to detect, we suggest that seeking discomfort as a signal of growth can increase motivation. Five experiments (total N = 2,163 adults) tested this prediction across various areas of personal growth: taking improvisation classes to increase self-confidence, engaging in expressive writing to process difficult emotions, becoming informed about the COVID-19 health crisis, opening oneself to opposing political viewpoints, and learning about gun violence. Across these areas of personal development, seeking discomfort as a signal of self-growth motivated engagement and increased perceived goal achievement relative to standard instructions. Consistent with our theorizing, results showed that these effects occurred only in areas of personal growth that cause immediate discomfort.

Person-centered therapy enhances humans’ personal growth toward self-actualization and deepens quality personal relationship. This article aims to (1) explain the concepts of person-centered therapy and (2) link its contribution to humans’ personal growth and healthy relationship. Personcentered therapy believes in human’s positive qualities as being trustworthy and owning ‘inner resources’ to pursue ‘self-actualization and health.’ The therapeutic goals are to assist clients to be true to themselves and acquire their full potentials. Person-centered therapy emphasizes the qualities of the therapist and therapeutic relationship as the most powerful components to help clients grow. The therapist needs to maintain positive attitudes, to believe in client’s potentials and motivation to become actualized, to accept one’s and others’ uniqueness and needs and to be trustworthy, warm, open and kind. Person-centered therapy reflects that pain and obstacles in life are necessary and can stimulate humans to grow. Person-centered therapy helps the therapist; clients and humans pursue self-actualization and possess better humans’ qualities, which can contribute to world peace as Rogers hoped.
