The timely publication of scientific results is essential for dynamic advances in science. The ubiquitous availability of computers which are connected to a global network made the rapid and low-cost distribution of information through electronic channels possible. New concepts, such as Open Access publishing and preprint servers are currently changing the traditional print media business towards a community-driven peer production. However, the cost of scientific literature generation, which is either charged to readers, authors or sponsors, is still high. The main active participants in the authoring and evaluation of scientific manuscripts are volunteers, and the cost for online publishing infrastructure is close to negligible. A major time and cost factor is the formatting of manuscripts in the production stage. In this article we demonstrate the feasibility of writing scientific manuscripts in plain markdown (MD) text files, which can be easily converted into common publication formats, such as PDF, HTML or EPUB, using Pandoc. The simple syntax of Markdown assures the long-term readability of raw files and the development of software and workflows. We show the implementation of typical elements of scientific manuscripts—formulas, tables, code blocks and citations—and present tools for editing, collaborative writing and version control. We give an example on how to prepare a manuscript with distinct output formats, a DOCX file for submission to a journal, and a LATEX/PDF version for deposition as a PeerJ preprint. Further, we implemented new features for supporting ‘semantic web’ applications, such as the ‘journal article tag suite’—JATS, and the ‘citation typing ontology’—CiTO standard. Reducing the work spent on manuscript formatting translates directly to time and cost savings for writers, publishers, readers and sponsors. markdoc is a general-purpose literate programming package for generating dynamic documents, dynamic presentation slides, Stata help files, and package vignettes in various formats. In this article, I introduce markdoc version 5.0, which performs independently of any third-party software, using the mini engine. The mini engine is a lightweight alternative to Pandoc (MacFarlane [2006, https://pandoc.org/ ]), completely written in Stata. I also propose a procedure for remodeling package documentation and data documentation in Stata and present a tutorial for generating help files, package vignettes, and GitHub Wiki documentation using markdoc.

In this article, I introduce markstat, a command for combining Stata code and output with comments and annotations written in Markdown into a beautiful webpage or PDF file, thus encouraging literate programming and reproducible research. The command tangles the input separating Stata and Markdown code, runs the Stata code, relies on Pandoc to process the Markdown code, and then weaves the outputs into a single file. HTML documents may include inline and display math using MathJax. Generating PDF output requires access to LATEX and a style file from Stata but works with the same input file.

Common text editors such as Microsoft Word, Notepad++ and others are cumbersome. Despite their enormous functionality, they do not eliminate the risk of incorrectly converting the document, for example, when opening the same Word files on older or, conversely, newer versions of Microsoft Word. The way out is the use of markup languages, which allow you to mark up text blocks in order to present them in the desired style. Currently, very popular are LaTeX (a set of macro-extensions of the TeX typesetting system) and Markdown (a lightweight markup language, designed to denote formatting in plain text). So the question of converting a Markdown document into a LaTeX document is relevant. There are various tools to convert Markdown files to LaTeX document, such as Pandoc library, Markdown.lua, Lunamark and others. But most of them have redundant steps to generate the output document. This paper highlights a solution method by integrating a Markdown file into a LaTeX document, which will potentially reduce the output document generation time unlike existing solutions. The developed Markdown to LaTeX document converter will automatically generate the output document and reduce the possibility of errors when manually converting text from Markdown format to LaTeX format.

Tujuan penelitian ini memaparkan kelayakan dan keterbacaan pengembangan multimedia PANDACA (Pandai Tanda Baca) untuk siswa SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian Reasearch and Development (RnD) milik Borg and Gall yang diadopsi Sugiyono. Subyek pada penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa dari kelas 1 sampai 6 di UPT SD Negeri Garum 01 yang dipilih dengan teknik pengambilan sampel random sampling. Hasil persentase validasi media menurut para ahli yaitu: 1) ahli materi 91,67%, 2) ahli media 92,36%, dan 3) ahli bahasa 90,83%. Hasil yang diperoleh tersebut menyatakan bahwa multimedia PANDACA (Pandai Tanda Baca) sangat baik dan layak untuk digunakan. Selain itu hasil uji keterbacaan diperoleh hasil persentase guru sebesar 95,83% dan siswa 93,33%. Hasil yang diperoleh tersebut menyatakan bahwa multimedia PANDACA (Pandai Tanda Baca) sangat baik dan terbaca. Nilai persentase yang diperoleh dari hasil kelayakan dan keterbacaan, maka multimedia PANDACA (Pandai Tanda Baca) dapat dijadikan sebagai media belajar bagi guru maupun siswa dalam memperdalam materi dan pemahaman tentang penggunaan tanda baca yang baik dan benar.

The Bioconductor Gateway on the F1000Research platform is a channel for peer-reviewed and citable publication of end-to-end data analysis workflows rooted in the Bioconductor ecosystem. In addition to the largely static journal publication, it is hoped that authors will also deposit their workflows as executable documents on Bioconductor, where the benefits of regular code testing and easy updating can be realized. Ideally these two endpoints would be met from a single source document. However, so far this has not been easy, due to lack of a technical solution that meets both the requirements of the F1000Research article submission format and the executable documents on Bioconductor. Submission to the platform requires a LaTeX file, which many authors traditionally have produced by writing an Rnw document for Sweave or knitr. On the other hand, to produce the HTML rendering of the document hosted by Bioconductor, the most straightforward starting point is the R Markdown format. Tools such as pandoc enable conversion between many formats, but typically a high degree of manual intervention used to be required to satisfactorily handle aspects such as floating figures, cross-references, literature references, and author affiliations. The BiocWorkflowTools package aims to solve this problem by enabling authors to work with R Markdown right up until the moment they wish to submit to the platform.

Background: A pharmacometrics (PMx) workflow usually requires several software tools to cover all the steps from data analysis to model evaluation and simulations. However, these tools do not always communicate well together, compromising the efficiency of the whole process. Highly inspired by the markdown/pandoc system, we developed Peccary, an R package and its dedicated Shiny Application with the objective to accelerate the use of previously released R packages through various translation and metaprogramming processes. Methods: Peccary was developed with an agile method, progressively aggregating snippets of R code produced during real-life pharmacometrics works. Its first subpackage, PeccAnalysis, can be used to produce and evaluate various R code for population description (using table1 package), plot exploration (ggplot) and non-compartment analysis (pknca). The second subpackage, PeccaReverse, allows writing a structural model using a minimalist (simplified deSolve) syntax, before metaprogramming model simulations (using either deSolve or RxODE) and design evaluation (through PopED), along with performing various model syntax translations (e.g., into NONMEM, Monolix or nlmixr files). Finally, the third subpackage, PeccaResult, standardizes run outputs of several PMx software (NONMEM, Monolix, Adapt, nlmixr) to perform various diagnostic evaluation tasks. Results: The metaprogramming system used in PeccAnalysis and PeccaReverse has many advantages. First, it simplifies the use of previously mentioned packages (by reducing the required knowledge and the time needed to program the output creation). Second, it creates links between independent tools (for instance using the same inputs for several tasks). Third, the produced R code can be reviewed for eventual manual modification, verification (quality control) or traceable report integration. Conclusion: Overall, Peccary was successful in improving PMx efficiency by providing a Shiny R platform that can produce various outputs during live meetings while keeping the possibility to extract Peccary-independent R source code for further in-depth control.

Panadol is a remarkable pain and fever reducing non opioid drug. It is known to be completely safe and tolerant medicine throughout the globe among people of all age groups. The goal of this study was to elaborate the histopathological effects of reduced interrupted regime of panadol on spleen and kidney functions of mice (Mus musculus). The animals were categorized into four groups, the control group (C), and rest of the three were labeled as 1, 2 and 3, made on the basis of time interval of pandol administration via gavage (n=7). Matched volume of panadol (15000 µg/0.1ml) and normal saline was given to mice. Tissue samples were collected after sacrifice of the mice and processed for assessment. The findings of the current study reflected the histopathological damage of kidney and spleen caused by panadol in reduced interval of time. The kidney section illustrated clear distortion in glomeruli integrity, marked increase in interstitial spaces, damaged epithelia, and degeneration in tubules in all the groups. The spleen histology exhibited the degradation of white pulp, depopulation, activation of follicles, cellular disruption thereby overall disorganized stature. The raised values of serum creatinine and blood urea examinations also revealed the deleterious effects of panadol overconsumption. It is inferred from the above mentioned outcomes that though panadol is considered to be a safe drug even then its intake prior to four hours can account for adverse effects on kidney and spleen.

ABSTRACTAlthoughEscherichia colitypically colonizes the intestinal tract and vagina of giant pandas, it has caused enteric and systemic disease in giant pandas and greatly impacts the health and survival of this endangered species. In order to understand the distribution and characteristics ofE. colifrom giant pandas, 67 fecal and 30 vaginalE. coliisolates from 21 giant pandas were characterized for O serogroups, phylogenetic groups, antimicrobial susceptibilities, and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) profiles. In addition, these isolates were tested for the presence of extraintestinal pathogenicE. coli(ExPEC) and diarrheagenicE. coli(DEC) by multiplex PCR detection of specific virulence genes. The most prevalent serogroups for allE. coliisolates were O88, O18, O167, O4, and O158. ExPEC isolates were detected mostly in vaginal samples, and DEC isolates were detected only in fecal samples. Phylogenetic group B1 predominated in fecal isolates, while groups B2 and D were frequently detected in vaginal isolates. Resistance to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole was most frequently observed, followed by resistance to nalidixic acid and tetracycline. All except five isolates were typeable by using XbaI and were categorized into 74 PFGE patterns. Our findings indicate that pandaE. coliisolates exhibited antimicrobial resistance, and potentially pathogenicE. coliisolates were present in giant pandas. In addition, theseE. coliisolates were genetically diverse. This study may provide helpful information for developing strategies in the future to controlE. coliinfections of giant pandas.

This research aims to analyze the existence and the development of Paninggahan pandanus webbing and also the symbol meaning of webbing for the women of Paninggahan. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques that are in accordance with this research are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.The result of this research showed that the existence of Paninggahan pandanus webbing is near from extinction, in the process of pandanus becomes staple, colouring process at mansiang, and the tools used in producing the webbing is still traditional. The early product of pandanus webbing is mat/ lapiak. The basic technique of webbing is crossed technique in which one move up and presses other, two move up and press other and so on based on the pattern. The webbing of pandanus is a symbol of Paninggahan women that has occurred since Paninggahan ancestors. Long ago, if men wanted to find a partner, they looked for women who could weave pandanus.Keywords: existence, development, webbing symbol. AbstrakPenelitian ini mengenai kesenian anyaman pandan yang menjadi seni tradisi daerah Paninggahan di Kecamatan Junjung Sirih Kabupaten Solok yang telah ada sejak nenek moyang orang Paninggahan. Namun keberadaannya saat sekarang ini diambang kepunahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keberadaan, perkembangan anyaman pandan Paninggahan, dan makna filosofis simbol menganyam pandan bagi perempuan Paninggahan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik alisis data yang sesuai dengan penelitian ini yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan anyaman pandan Paninggahan hampir punah, dalam proses pengolahan pandan menjadi bahan baku, proses pewarnaan pada mensiang, dan alat-alat yang digunakan dalam pembuatan anyaman pandan masih sangat tradisional. Motif anyaman yang digunakan pengrajin masih turun temurun dari nenek moyang mereka. Bentuk produk awal anyaman pandan berupa tikar/lapiak. Teknik dasar anyaman berupa teknik silang dengan menggunakan teknik naik satu impit satu, naik dua impit dua, dan begitu seterusnya sesuai bentuk motif yang digunakan. Menganyam pandan merupakan simbol perempuan Paninggahan, simbol tersebut telah berlaku sejak nenek moyang orang Paninggahan. Dahulunya jika laki-laki mencari jodoh mereka mencari perempuan yang pandai menganyam. Background: Primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction (PANDO) is a common entity with associated different types of intranasal abnormali­ties. The pathogenesis of PANDO is unknown. The objective of the study was to describe the intranasal findings in cases of PANDO and find out any association of these findings to the disease. Methods: A comparative cross-sectional study was designed consisting of 50 cases of unilateral PANDO with epiphora and 50 normal volunteers with no history of epiphora. Nasal Evaluation was done with anterior rhi­noscopy and nasal endoscopy. Data was tabulated and analyzed using SPSS version 21. Results: The mean age in the unilateral PANDO group was 33.6 years and 34.5 years in the normal volunteer’s group (P-0.84). Left sided dominance of PANDO was observed in 64% (32/50) cases. The odds of having Na­solacrimal duct (NLD) obstruction was1.6 times more among individuals having septal deviation versus no deviation (95% CI, 0.907–2.78). The lat­erality of septal deviation was corresponding to the side of NLD obstruc­tion in 91% (31/34) cases. High located DNS was more common in the PANDO group which was significant (P-value 0.012). Turbinate hypertro­phy, the presence of septal spur or rhinitis had no significant association with NLD obstruction. Conclusions: Deviated nasal septum (DNS), turbinate hypertrophy, septal spur and rhinitis were the associated intranasal findings in cases of uni­lateral PANDO. A significant association exists between DNS and PANDO, although a cause and effect relation require further probing.

Turbinate hypertrophy, the presence of septal spur or rhinitis had no significant association with NLD obstruction. Conclusions: Deviated nasal septum (DNS), turbinate hypertrophy, septal spur and rhinitis were the associated intranasal findings in cases of unilateral PANDO. A significant association exists between DNS and PANDO, although a cause and effect relation require further probing.

The study of the physicochemical characteristic and floristic composition of African manatee habitat in Pandam Lake was conducted between 2012 and 2013. The water parameters were tested using standard method while line intercept method was adopted for vegetation survey. Data obtained on the water parameters were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Plant species diversity index was analyzed using PAST Software. The mean seasonal water surface area increase was 66.12±5.01. The mean water depth in the dry season was 2.28±1.14 while the wet season value was 4.3±1.15. Also the mean water transparency was for wet and dry seasons were 64.02±4.66 and 111.18±4.26 respectively. The mean pH value was 6.5±0.14. Water salinity ranges from 0.00mg/l to 0.01mg/l, mean DO was 6.24±1.13, nitrate was 0.08±0.02 and mean conductivity of 52.65 ±2.12. A total of 42 plant species from 23 families were recorded in Pandam Lake. The family Poaceae had the highest number of species (22) (30.56%). The grass species had the highest frequency of 13 while trees recorded the lowest (3). Also there are more perennial species (n=28; 66.67%) than annual species (n=14; 33.33%). The Shannon diversity index was 3.72. Thirteen species of plants recorded in Pandan Lake during this study were known to provide food for manatees across their range in Africa. All the water parameter values were within the range tolerable by manatee. The Lake have diverse species of plants that manatee can feed on both in the wet and dry seasons. The park management should maintain the integrity of the ecosystem by regulating fishing and other human activities to avoid pollution. The park should be taken over by the Federal government for effective protection of the resources most especially manatee.Keywords: Water quality, vegetation, African manatee, Pandam Lake

Background: This study aimed to describe the anatomical details of the bony nasolacrimal duct (BNLD) and adjacent nasal structures by analyzing computed tomography (CT) images, and to investigate their effects on the development of primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction (PANDO). Methods: A total of 50 patients with unilateral PANDO who underwent dacryocystorhinostomy, with a mean age of 57.96 years, were included. The preoperative CT images were reviewed to measure the anteroposterior and transverse diameters of the BNLD at the entrance and exit levels, as well as the minimum transverse diameter along the tract. The sagittal CT images were analyzed to classify the shape of the bony canals into columnar, funnel, flare, and hourglass. The associated paranasal abnormalities, including nasal septum deviation (NSD), sinusitis, angle between the bony inferior turbinate and medial wall of the maxillary sinus, and mucosal thickness of the inferior turbinate, were investigated. Results: Fifty CT images were analyzed, and all parameters measured on both sides of the BNLD were not significantly different between the PANDO and non-PANDO sides, except for the minimum transverse diameter, which was significantly smaller on the PANDO side (p = 0.002). Columnar-shaped BNLD was the most common on both sides. No significant difference was observed in the incidence of paranasal abnormalities between sides; however, deviation of the septum toward the non-PANDO side was more common (67.9%). Conclusions: A small minimum transverse diameter of the BNLD may be a risk factor for PANDO. The association between nasal abnormalities and PANDO was not remarkable.

Republic of Indonesia is the largest archipelagic and Muslim majority country in the world comprising of various small and big islands. Almost 300 languages are spoken in the country, but Indonesians believe in ‘Benika Tungal Ika’ mean diversity is strength. Indonesian Islamic education system covets overall development of students’ personality including the religious, cognitive, physical, emotional, physical and scientific aspects. This paper aims to explore the perceptions of alumni about contribution of Sekola Islam, Pesantren and Pandok in nation building of Indonesia. Paper is based on qualitative analysis of data collected through semi structured interviews with alumni of Sekola Islam, Pesantrens and Pandok. The results showed that Pesantrens, Sekola Islam and Pandok network of Islamic Education Institutions is root of education system and has played a significant role in nation building of Indonesia. Islamic Education Institutions have contributed for the religious, societal, economic and technological development of Indonesia and produced renowned leaders in the field of politics, religion and education.

Diapoma pampeana was recently described to occur in the upper Negro basin in Uruguay and Brazil. An isolated population tentatively identified as D. pampeana from the Pando stream, a perturbed coastal drainage in Uruguay, is studied and compared under the light of morphological and molecular data to test if there is evidence to consider it as a separate species. New geographical records for the species are presented and included in the comparisons. The specimens analyzed were pooled into four groups: Pando, Santa Lucía, Middle Negro and Upper Negro. We analyzed 32 morphological characters using statistical procedures and recovered a COI-based phylogeny of different populations of D. pampeana to test if they may represent different species. Size-corrected PCA revealed that the Pando and Upper Negro groups are greatly diverging in both morphometric and meristic data along PC1 (mainly by the snout to dorsal-fin origin, dorsal to adipose-fin origins, number of longitudinal scales and predorsal scales). This deviating pattern was also obtained in a cluster analysis. The Santa Lucía and Middle Negro groups were found to be intermediate morphotypes. In contrast, molecular analyses revealed that the Pando and Upper Negro specimens resemble genetically and, thus, are placed together in the Neighbor-joining and Bayesian topologies, as part of a monophyletic Diapoma. We proposed that the Pando population, despite its deviating morphology observed, can be classified as D. pampeana. Therefore, this population constitutes a remarkable example of an isolated population that is morphologically divergent but genetically similar to the geographically most distant conspecific population.

Oleh karena itu mahasiswa KKN UNP melakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat agar dapat mengembangkan kerjinan anyaman lapiak pandan nantinya. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan meliputi temu ramah, survei bahan baku, kunjungan, wawancara, pemberian masukan inovatif, dan pelatihan pembuatan media sosial kepada ibu-ibu pengrajin lapiak pandan. Kerajinan lapiak pandan memiliki peran vital dalam pertumbuhan ekonomi dan pelestarian budaya masyarakat di Nagari Padang Laweh Selatan, namun seiring berjalannya waktu produk lapiak pandan dapat tergantikan oleh karena itu kegiatan pengabdian masyrakat memberikan ilmu baru seperti memberikan inovasi-inovasi untuk kerajinan lapiak pandan, pelatihan pembuatan akun sosial media, serta pembuatan video promosi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualiatas lapiak pandan sehingga dapat meningkatkan ekonomi , daya saing produk lapiak pandan dipasaran, dan mewarisi anyaman lapiak pandan kepada generasi muda.

Sari pandan siap pakai yang beredar di Indonesia mayoritas berbentuk pasta, yang memiliki beberapa kelemahan, diantaranya mudah rusak, lengket, dan susah ditakar. Pembuatan sari pandan dalam bentuk bubuk diharapkan dapat meningkatkan mutu sari pandan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengeringan spray drying dan pengeringan vakum. Pengujian kadar air menunjukkan bahwa sari pandan yang dibuat dengan metode spray drying memiliki kadar air yang lebih rendah daripada metode pengeringan vakum. Pengamatan sifat fisik sari pandan dalam kondisi siap pakai menunjukkan bahwa metode spray drying menghasilkan warna dan aroma sari pandan yang lebih kuat daripada metode pengeringan vakum. Uji organoleptik menunjukkan bahwa panelis lebih menyukai warna dan aroma sari pandan yang dibuat dengan metode spray drying. Pandan extracts is made from pandan leaves. The majority of ready-to-use pandan extracts in Indonesia are in the form of pasta which has several disadvantages, including perishable, sticky, and hard to be measured. Pandan extract in powder form is expected to improve the quality of the pandan extract. The method used in this study are spray drying and vacuum drying. Water content analysis shows that pandan extract made by spray drying method has a lower moisture content than the vacuum drying method. Observation of the physical properties of pandan extract in ready-to-use form showed that the spray drying method produced stronger color and aroma than the vacuum drying method. Organoleptic tests showed that panelists preferred the color and aroma of pandan extract made using the spray drying method.

The article presents the results of processing of the archaeozoological collection from the excavations of the Ashna-Pando hillfort (Surskiy district of the Ulyanovsk region), carried out by P. D. Stepanov in 1949. The collection (2,760 bone fragments) belongs to three cultural layers identified at the site: the Fatyanovo-Balanovo culture of the Bronze Age, a specific local cultural group of the Early Iron Age and the Imenkovo culture of the late period of the Migrations era. It is the materials of the Migration period that are of the greatest interest. During that time, Ashna-Pando, in all likelihood, played the role of a local communal center — a place for meetings of the community. The collection of bones from the Imenkovo assemblage seems to reflect periodic joint meals rather than daily consumption. In general, the meat diet of the Imenkovo population, especially for the last period of the occupation of Ashna-Pando, was characterized by the increasing role of hunting for forest fauna, which, in combination with the finds of agricultural tools in Ashna-Pando as well as in other settlements of the Imenkovo in the Sura region, reflects the decisive role of slash-and-burn farming in the economic system.

Realisasi nasabah laku pandai tahun 2018 PT XYZ tidak sesuai yang ditargetkan. Bagaimana pelaksanaan program laku pandai pada PT XYZ? Mengapa target nasabah PT XYZ tidak tercapai? Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pelaksanaan laku pandai di PT XYZ dan menganalisa faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan target nasabah laku pandai tidak tercapai pada tahun 2018. Metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data yang digunakan adalah data primer. Analisis data pada penelitain ini menggunakan descriptive qualitative analysis. Temuan pada penelitian ini menunjukkan target nasabah laku pandai tidak tercapai karena pelaksanaan laku pandai PT XYZ menggunakan struktur di mana tersentralisasi, masih belum terintegrasi, masih memiliki fitur yang terbatas pada setoran, tarikan, dan transfer antar rekening laku pandai. Selain itu PT XYZ kurang memiliki pengalaman dalam menangani segmen pasar laku pandai, proses pembukaan rekening nasabah laku pandai PT XYZ memerlukan waktu yang melebihi SLA. The interaction between intestinal microbial flora and giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is indispensable for the healthy development of giant pandas. In this study, we analysed the diversity of bacteria and fungi in the intestines of six giant pandas (two pandas in each development stage) with a high-throughput sequencing technique to expand the relative variation in abundance of dominant microbes and potential cellulose-degradation genera in the intestines of the giant pandas and to explore the correlation between dominant microbial genera in the intestines and cellulose digestion activities of giant pandas. The results showed that the intestinal bacterial diversity of young giant pandas was higher than that of sub-adult and adult giant pandas, and Shannon’s diversity index was about 2.0. The intestinal bacterial diversity of giant pandas from sub-adult to adult (mature stage) stage showed an increasing trend, but the intestinal fungal diversity showed no considerable regular relations with their ages. The microbial composition and abundance of giant pandas changed in different developmental stages. Pearson correlation analysis and path analysis showed that there was a close relationship between the dominant microbes in the intestines of giant pandas, and the interaction between microbial genera might affect the cellulose digestion ability of giant pandas. Generally, the digestibility of cellulose degraders in pandas was still insufficient, with low enzymic activity and immature microbial structure. Therefore, the utilization and digestion of bamboo cellulose still might not be a main source of energy for pandas.

Daun pandan (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb) memiliki khasiat dalam bidang kesehatan yaitu sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu memformulasikan sabun kertas dari ekstrak daun pandan dan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri sediaan sabun kertas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratorium. Sabun kertas ekstrak etanol daun pandan dibuat dalam tiga formula yaitu F1(1 gram ekstrak daun pandan kosentrasi 100%), F1(2 gram ekstrak daun pandan kosentrasi 100%), dan F3 (3 gram ekstrak daun pandan kosentrasi 100%). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sediaan sabun kertas ekstrak etanol daun pandan telah memenuhi syarat SNI 2588:2017. Ketiga formula sediaan sabun kertas ekstrak etanol daun pandan memiliki aktivitas dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosa dan F3 menunjukan daya hambat terbesar dibandingkan dengan formula yang lainnya

The Pando aspen grove (Populus tremuloides) consists of more than 40000 genetically identical aspen stems spread across 106 acres in south-central Utah. While Pando resembles a forest, it is a single organism connected at the roots, making it the world's largest tree and one of the largest living things on the planet. First identified in 1976, Pando has not been studied as a bioacoustic subject. Focusing on recordings captured simultaneously above and below ground on July 12, 2022 during a thunderstorm, our presentation reveals a unique acoustic portrait of this botanical wonder. We compare audible sounds of Pando’s leaves with hydrophone recordings made in connection with the tree's root system. This dual soundscape shows that leaf motion causes vibrations that pass throughout the organism, from its branches to its base. The recordings suggest that the grove’s massive, interconnected root system is highly resonant with potential for future recordings and research.

Danau pandan memiliki luas ± 103 Ha yang terletak di desa Parjalihotan Baru kecamatan Pinangsori kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah. Status keberadaan danau pandan masih jarang diketahui oleh masyarakat Tapanuli Tengah maupun masyarakat luar dari kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah, sehingga penelitian mengenai danau pandan masih jarang dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kualitas air danau pandan yang diamati dari parameter fisika yaitu suhu dan kedalaman, sedangkan parameter kimianya mengamati kandungan pH (Potensial Hidrogen) dan DO (Dissolved Oxygen) perairan, serta mengetahui kondisi hidrologi dari danau pandan tersebut. Hasil pengukuran suhu air danau pandan selama penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa suhu air pada 10 titik stasiun berkisar antara 32,0 ºC – 36,0 ºC, sedangkan kedalaman danau berkisar 0,8 m – 1,7 m. Nilai DO atau kandungan oksigen terlarut perairan danau pandan kisaran dari 4,91 mg/l – 9,03 mg/l. pH air danau Pandan berkisar antara 6,8 – 9,02. Kondisi hidrologi Danau Pandan dibentuk oleh aliran parit-parit dan sungai yang yang bermuara ke Danau Pandan antara lain: Sungai Aek Kemuning dan Aek Lobu. Sedangkan outlet Danau Pandan secara alami mengalir ke arah utara melalui Sungai Aek Kemuning dan bermuara ke Desa Sitardas, Badiri Tapanuli Tengah.

Background Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as key molecules in human cancer. In the present study, we explored the role of the lncRNA PANDAR in colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods The relative expression level of lncRNA PANDAR in CRC tissues and cell lines was determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The associations between PANDAR expression and clinicopathological features of CRC patients were further analyzed. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed to evaluate the value of PANDAR in the prognosis of CRC patients. Furthermore, the biological function of PANDAR on CRC cell growth, apoptosis and mobility was investigated through MTT, flow cytometry, transwell migration and invasion assays in vitro. Results The expression level of PANDAR was higher in CRC tissues and cells compared with adjacent nontumor tissues and normal colonic cell line NCM460. PANDAR expression was significantly correlated with local invasion, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients with high PANDAR expression had poorer overall survival than patients with low PANDAR expression. Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that PANDAR might be an independent prognostic factor for CRC patients. Furthermore, PANDAR knockdown significantly inhibited cell proliferation, cycle progression, migration and invasion of CRC in vitro. Conclusions Our results suggest that high expression of PANDAR was involved in CRC progression and could act as an independent biomarker for prognosis of CRC patients.

Dan untuk mengetahui kualitas dari sirup daun pandan wangi berbahan campuran seperti gula, cmc, pewarna, vanili, ekstra pandan, dan air, dan memiliki kualitas rasa, aroma, tekstur dan warna, kemudian untuk mengetahui daya tahan serta menganalisis seberapa besar biaya yang diperlukan dalam pembuatan sirup daun pandan wangi pandanus odoratissimus. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen, penelitian eksperimen ini dilakukan dengan membuat sirup daun pandan pandanus odoratissimus, kemudian diuji oleh 20 orang panelis dengan tes organoleptic, observasi dan analisi biaya. Hasil penelitian ini berupa kualitas sirup daunpandan sebagai bahan dasar daun pandan wangi menjadi sirup pandanus odoratissimus adalah enak dari segi rasa, beraroma wangi, testur lembut,serta memiliki kasiat untuk manusi. Dari hasil uji daya tahan sirup daun pandan wangi cepat basi ketika dibuka begitu saja, maka dari itu sirup diletakan ditempat yang dingin. Dari asil analisi biaya dalam pembuatan sirup daun pandan wangi pandanus odoratissimus membutuhkan biaya Rp.45.000 The purpose of the research on the Quality of Syrup Based on Wangi Pandan Leaves (Pandanus odoratissimus) is to make another syrup from the existing one and pandan leaves are easy to find in community settlements and also many benefits and benefits of pandan leaves for humans. Teori yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori Materialisme Marvin Harris, Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan metode etnografi berupa deskripsi mendalam, menggunakan observasi partisipatif (participation observation) dan wawancara mendalam (indepthinterview). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa masyarakat Desa walelei dalam mempertahankan budaya pandai besi. Upaya masayarakat Desa Walelei dalam mempertahankan eksistensi pandai besi yakni mengajarkan anak-anak sejak dini tentang pembuatan pandai besi. Mempertahankan budaya tradisional pandai besi dari Orang Tua terdahulu. Pandai besi yang terdapat di Desa Walelei Kecamatan Barangka Kabupaten Muna Barat merupakan salah satu mata pencaharian di karenakan kurangnya lapangan pekerjaan.

ABSTRAK Kefir merupakan produk olahan susu yang difermentasi oleh sejumlah bakteri penghasil asam laktat (BAL). Kefir mempunyai arom khas asam sebagai hasil dari proses fermentasi, aroma khas asam tersebut kurang disukai oleh masyarakat, oleh karena itu dilakukan inovasi dengan penambahan pandan wangi untuk menetralisir aroma khas dari kefir. Tujuan pada penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan Infusa Daun Pandan Wangi (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) terhadap kefir susu sapi ditinjau dari pH, kadar air, total padatan dan properti fisik. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakukan dan ulangan sebanyak 6 kali dengan perlakuan penambahan infusa pandan wangi yang berbeda yaitu : P0 tanpa penambahan infusa daun pandan wangi, P1 penambahan infusa daun pandan wangi sebanyak 5%, P2 penambahan infusa daun pandan wangi sebanyak 10%, P3 penambahan infusa daun pandan wangi sebanyak 15%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penambahan infusa daun pandan wangi sebanyak 5%, 10%, dan 15% tidak merubah pH, kadar air, dan total padatan pada kefir susu sapi. Penambahan infusa daun pandan wangi mencapai titik optimal pada 15% yang menghasilkan nilai pH sebesar 4,72, kadar air sebesar 87,18%, total padatan sebesar 12,81%. Pada pengamatan sensori perubahan yang terjadi cendung pada aroma. Kata kunci : kefir, susu sapi, , infusa daun pandan wangi, pH, kadar air, total padatan, properti fisik, RAL. ABSTRACT Kefir is a product that is fermented by bacteria lactic acid (BAL). Kefir has a characteristic sour smell as a result of the fermentation process, the public was dislike the smell, therefore to reduce the smell innovations of kefir are made with the addition of pandan wangi leaf to neutralize the smell of sour from kefir. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding Pandan Wangi Leaf Infusion (Pandanus Amaryllifolius Roxb.) to cow's milk kefir in terms of pH, water content, total solids and physical properties. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications with the addition of different pandan wangi leaf infusion treatments, there are: P0 without the addition of pandan wangi leaf infusion, P1 adding 5% pandan wangi leaf infusion, P2 adding pandan wangi leaf infusion as much as 10%, P3 addition of pandan wangi leaf infusion as much as 15%. The results showed that the addition of pandan wangi leaf infusion as much as 5%, 10%, and 15% did not change the pH, water content, and total solids in cow's milk kefir. The addition of fragrant pandan leaf infusion reached the optimal point at 15% with the result is pH value of 4.72, water content of 87.18%, total solids of 12.81%. Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the Species of Pandanus (Pandanus sp) in Gorom Island, East Seram Regency. The object used in this study was the external body structure of pandanus plants (pandanus sp) such as fruit, flowers, leaves, stems and roots. This research was conducted directly by direct survey in the field and observing the species of pandanus (Pandanus sp), this research includes observations on fruit, flowers, leaves, stems, and roots. Based on the results of the study found 6 species of pandan (Pandanus sp) that is : Pandan Duri, Pandan Mengkuwang, Pandan Kowang, Pandan Sepajam, Pandan Wangi dan Pandan Laut. Of these 6 species we can distinguish from the shape of the leaves, stem shapes, fruit shapes, and root shapes.

Background: Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) has been the standard procedure for primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction (PANDO) for many years. This process can be performed either using an endoscopic or external approach. Aims and Objectives: The aim is to evaluate the results and recurrence rates of external DCR (ExDCR) and endonasal DCR (EDCR) surgery in patients with PANDO in the South Indian population. Materials and Methods: Medical records were reviewed in all patients who underwent surgery for PANDO between December 2021 and August 2023 at Government Medical College Mahabubabad. Results: This study was conducted in 92 patients; 34 males (36.96%) and 58 females (63.04%) were the gender split. ExDCR was used in 52 (56.52%) of the cases, and EDCR was used in 40 (43.487%) of the cases. Operation success rates of these data revealed that 50 (54.34%) cases were recorded as successful, 24 (26.10%) of the cases were accepted as partially successful, and 18 (19.56%) of the cases were deemed unsuccessful. There was no statistically significant difference between success rates and recurrences in both groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Endoscopic DCR produced simple, minimally invasive, and preferable results compared to ExDCR in the South Indian population. Although the success of ExDCR is higher and the recurrence is lower than endoscopic DCR, with the outcomes of this study, endoscopic DCR can be tried as the first choice to protect the patient from major surgery and anesthesia in PANDO.
