This study examines General Beauregard's inability to communicate with his readers in his orders for and report of the First Battle of Bull Run. His orders lack vital pieces of information and are ill-suited to his inexperienced subordinates. In fact, Beauregard's success is due to the initiative of his junior officers, not to any carefully thought out plan of his own. Beauregard also fails to consider the political ramifications of certain statements he makes in his report of the battle. These statements offend President Jefferson Davis and lead to Beauregard's demotion and banishment to the West.

Introduction. 2022 marks the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of Stalingrad, which became a turning point not only of the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet people against the Nazi invaders and their allies, but of the entire World War II of 1939–1945. The Battle of Stalingrad covered the territories of modern Voronezh, Rostov, Volgograd regions and the Republic of Kalmykia. The military and political decisions of the supreme command of the USSR and Germany on the eve of the Battle of Stalingrad in June – July 1942 became the starting point in the future battle. Methods and materials. The study used problem-chronological, comparative-historical, and statistical methods. The study of the materials was based on the principles of historicism and objectivity. During the analysis of documents from domestic archives, memoirs, statistical information, a significant amount of material was processed; the problems of the prehistory of the Battle of Stalingrad in domestic and foreign historiography were studied. Analysis. As a result of the study conducted by the authors, various directives, orders of the Headquarters of the Supreme High Command to the Soviet troops in the Stalingrad direction, as well as the enemy’s planning mechanism for the seizure of Stalingrad territory were analyzed. Results. It has been established that the Headquarters of the Supreme High Command, even before the start of hostilities in the Stalingrad direction, took measures to concentrate strategic reserves, create defensive lines, and reorganize the management of front-line troops. The authors’ contribution. V.A. Afanasenko proposed the idea and concept of the article, determined the chronology of the beginning of the preparatory actions preceding the Battle of Stalingrad. M.V. Medvedev analyzed the work of the Headquarters of the Supreme High Command on the preparation and use of combat reserves in battles within the great bend of the Don, carried out a scientific revision of the article.

SummaryThis editorial discusses the pros and cons of community treatment orders (CTOs) from the perspective of community general adult psychiatry. There is little scientific evidence supporting the application of CTOs. Preconditions of a CTO to work are likely to be met by few patients. The time for the application of a CTO may be better spent for patient-centred care until there is sufficient new and robust evidence that identifies the patients that might profit.

Communicating plans to subordinates is not an easy task. It requires that the writer be adept in accurately using the language of his/her discipline and takes care in considering the unique characteristics of the document's audience and how they are likely to interpret the message. When writers fail in these areas, the consequences can be very serious as demonstrated by General Ambrose Burnside's orders for the Battle of Fredericksburg during the Civil War.

Book Seven of Herodotus’ Histories contains his account of the Persian expedition against Greece led by King Xerxes in 480 BCE. This campaign followed from the one undertaken ten years earlier on the orders of his father, King Darius. That Persian force had landed at Marathon and been defeated by the Athenians in a famous battle that has ever since been considered a victory of European freedom over Oriental despotism. Xerxes, determined to avenge his father's defeat, raised a force reported by Herodotus to be of as many as two and a half million fighting men, only to come up against the 300 Spartans at the Battle of Thermopylae. This narrative of these and the subsequent battles of Salamis and Plataea has been well known from its Herodotean source ever since; and the muscle-bound and blood-drenched deeds of the 300 have recently been made famous again by the movie of that name. The more recent sequel to 300 begins with a less accurate account of the Battle of Marathon; and, where the first movie ended with Plataea under way, Rise of an Empire ends with victory at Salamis all but won. Courses in Western or World History are likely to come upon the Persian Wars, and the recent popular movies might serve as an accessible and engaging introduction to these historical events and developments. But Herodotus’ account of how Xerxes came to his decision to invade Greece, with its consideration of politics, rhetoric, and religion, is, if not as thrilling, at least as telling. It tells the standard narrative of the conflict between East and West, and it tells of many ways in which the conflict was more complicated than that. It tells not just how the Greeks and Persians came to fight each other, but who the Greeks and Persians were that they might have fought, or not, but did.

During the First World War Macedonia in its ethnic borders was a space of bloody fights of the Great Powers and their struggle for world domination and colonial empires. The front line on the territory of Macedonia, known as the Front of Macedonia, whose length was several hundred kilometers long, stretched predominantly through the mountainous areas at an altitude of over 2,000 meters where the armed conflicts, between the forces of the Entente and the Central Powers took place. The immediate cause of the formation of the Macedonian Front was the failure of the Dardanelles Operation, when troops from Galipola were transferred to Thessaloniki. The Macedonian front was the only allied front where the only command had been operating throughout its existence. At the beginning, the main command was held by the General Moris Saraj. The paper deals with the tragedy of the cities and the population, and the mountain heights that were located on the first frontline of the Macedonian Front, with huge destruction and devastation from everyday artillery and air strikes. Bitola as an important communication point was constantly exposed to bombardment, and many of the surrounding villages disappeared forever. Only a few kilometers southeast of Bitola is the top Kajmakcalan, where there were also fierce fighting with many casualties and terrible devastation. The Battle of Kajmakcalan as part of the military operations of the Macedonian Front is one of the great battles of the First World War. In the history, the Battle of Kajmakchalan has been observed according to the great number of dead and wounded and the altitude where it took place. The breathtaking legendary city of Dojran and its surroundings, located in the center of the demarcation (front line), was completely destroyed. The residents of Dojran, on the orders of the Central Forces who were stationed there, left their homes and left in other Macedonian cities, but also in Serbia and Bulgaria, before the very beginning of the "Dojran Front".

The article is dedicated to a common theme in Byzantine literature, with a particular focus on descriptions of battles between warriors and monsters. According to the authors, the reworking of stories about hunting large predators from ancient mythology is characteristic of the Byzantine and partially Western European military traditions from the 10th to 14th centuries. The authors argue that the ideas of rational warfare permeated not only strict military manuals but also hagiographical literature, historical chronicles, heroic epics, and other narratives. Therefore, the incorporation of the archetypal plot of ‘fighting monsters’ into military settings is at the center of this study. The authors demonstrate that ancient battle stories had no place in the strict orders of real actions by regular armies. The article introduces materials from M. Y. Suzyumov’s personal archive into scientific circulation and draws on sigillography data. The article shows that in medieval texts, such short but intense clashes between two opponents are interpreted not only as entertainment or instruction but also in a philosophical sense as an embodiment of the eternal struggle between good and evil.

The first cases of COVID-19 materialised in Malaysia in January 2020, and the trend of COVID-19 cases boosted remarkably. As the globe changes its usual services and norms with digitalisation, many countries have used information technology embedded within digitalisation to manage COVID-19. This applies specifically for containment and contact tracing among Malaysian citizens. Malaysia is one of the first countries in Southeast Asia to have designed digital applications to control and manage the COVID-19 pandemic, hence making it one of the top 50 nations under the UN’s 2020 E-Government Development Index (EGDI). This study intended to investigate the effectiveness of digitalisation in controlling the spread of COVID-19 outbreaks in Malaysia from 11 March to 9 June 2020 (90 days), with a specific focus on the aspects of containment and contact tracing. This research concluded that using digital applications and government administrative orders advised by national healthcare policy, through movement control orders (MCO) and conditional movement control orders (CMCO), slowed down the rate of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia. Similar endeavours by Malaysia’s neighbouring countries have also administered current technological advancements to battle the pandemic with healthcare efforts.

We verify the efficiency of our algorithm in terms of complexity and BE by simulation and experiment. The results show that our algorithm improves BE up to 40% comparing to conventional random correspondence methods. Also, our algorithm speeds up by several orders comparing to the optimal algorithm while sacrificing BE only 6%.

Abstract The creation of parish councils in 1894 has been somewhat neglected by historians of democratization and social class. This article explores how questions of political inclusion and class became important features of the first parish council elections. The National Liberal Federation and allied pressure groups encouraged electors to see the elections as a battle between working people and the privileged orders. Contrary to what is sometimes suggested, this demonstrates that ‘class politics’ was sometimes an important part of Liberal electoral strategy. Ultimately, the councils brought important changes to local political life, with working men elected to parishes in significant numbers.

This paper discusses the design, implementation, and evaluation of a prototype speech recognition interface to the Theater Air Planning (TAP) module of Theater Battle Management Core Systems (TBMCS). This effort was in support of a Kenney Battlelab Initiative proposal submitted to the Command and Control Battlelab at Hurlburt Field, FL to assess the operational benefits of speech recognition for data entry applications in a Joint Air Operations Center environment. Several factors contributing to the design of the “TAPTalk” speech interface included interviews with subject matter experts, speech system selection, grammar development, and integration into TAP, which required only minor modification of existing software. Results from the two week operational assessment with sixteen subjects from the Command and Control Training and Innovation Group, numbered Air Forces, Navy, and Marine Corp indicated that the Theater Air Planning process could be accomplished significantly faster with no increase in error rates. Subjectively, the sixteen planners unanimously agreed that the TAPTalk speech interface was a valuable addition to TAP and would recommend its inclusion in a future upgrade. Recommendations for further improving the TAPTalk system are discussed.

AbstractTwentieth-century wars of decolonization were more than simple diplomatic and military affairs. This article examines how the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) relied upon technology to drive state-making and to make war during the struggle against the French (1945–1954). Wireless radios, in particular, provided embattled nationalists a means by which they could communicate orders and information across wide expanses of contested space in real time. Printing presses, newspapers, stationary, and stamps not only circulated information, but they also served as the bureaucratic markers of national sovereignty. Radios and telephones were essential to the DRV's ability to develop, field, and run a professional army engaged in modern—not guerilla—battles. The Vietnamese were victorious at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 in part because they successfully executed a highly complex battle via the airwaves. Neither the Front de libération nationale (FLN) fighting the French for Algeria nor the Republicans battling the Dutch for Indonesia ever used communications so intensely to drive state-making or take the fight to the colonizer on the battlefield. Scholars of Western states and warfare have long recognized the importance of information gathering for understanding such matters. This article argues that it is time to consider how postcolonial states gathered and used information, even in times of war.

Social distancing measures have been a key component in government strategies to mitigate COVID-19 globally. Based on official documents, this study aimed to identify, compare and analyse public social distancing policy measures adopted in Denmark and Sweden regarding the coronavirus from 1 March 2020 until 1 October 2020. A key difference was the greater emphasis on laws and executive orders (sticks) in Denmark, which allowed the country to adopt many stricter policy measures than Sweden, which relied mostly on general guidelines and recommendations (sermons). The main policy adopters in Denmark were the government and the Danish Parliament, whereas the Public Health Agency issued most policies in Sweden, reflecting a difference in political governance and administrative structure in the two countries. During the study period, Sweden had noticeably higher rates of COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations per 100,000 population than Denmark, yet it is difficult to determine the impact or relative effectiveness of sermons and sticks, particularly with regard to broader and longer-term health, economic and societal effects.

- In this essay the author deals with the Italian princes and noblemen who took part in the war of the Flanders. In the second half of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century the nationalist historiography considered them as the only men who were still able to preserve the honour of a nation ruled by the sovereigns who were subject to Spain. Emanuele Filiberto, Alessandro Farnese and Ambrogio Spinola were good examples of an invincible fighting spirit. In fact, the Italians held an important position in the multinational Spanish army; many southern princes and barons often went to the Flanders with their families. In many cases they had received the baptisim of fire under the orders of don Giovanni of Austria, during the historical period starting from the battle of Lepanto to the conquest of Tunis, The author emphasizes that the presence of many foreign princes and noblemen in the military encampments and battlefields of the Flanders forced them to follow precise and codified rules of behaviour belonging to the courtly world. Such rules couldn't be avoided. Moreover, the military experience abroad had a deep effect on their future destiny. The Kings'gratitude towards the Italians who returned from the Flanders was rewarded with public posts and honours, however it was limited due to the fact that those had been foreign battles.

It began in 1898 as a health nostrum for the rich, but it soon would become the food for the masses and make its inventors household names. The corn flake was developed by Will K. and John H. Kellogg at their Battle Creek, Mich., sanitarium, a health resort run under the auspices of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Since 1876, the Kelloggs had offered ground wheat and other "natural" foods to wealthy patrons. But the trouble with many grainbased health foods, then as now, was that they lacked taste, or even tasted bitter. To solve the problem, the Kelloggs steamed the corn kernel's grit, or heart, from its hull, dried the grit, then cooked it under pressure, adding malt flavoring and sugar. This mix was then dried and "flaked" by passing it through rollers. The flakes were a hit with the clients of the "San," as it was called; one, C.W. Post, would later offer his own brand of corn flakes to the public. In 1906, Will Kellogg founded the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Co. and began promoting corn flakes aggressively; he did so over the objections of his physician brother, who believed that advertising the flakes violated medical ethics. (Will later was expelled from the Adventist church for worldliness, and he and his brother quit speaking in 1909). An ad in the July 1906 Ladies' Home Journal for W.K. Kellogg's corn flakes brought a flood of new orders, and output at Battle Creek soared to 2,900 cases a day from 33 a day earlier in the year. Today, there are some 200 brands competing in the $5-billion-a-year U.S. dried-cereal market. At the top is Kellogg's Corn Flakes.

In 47 B.C., despite victory at the Battle of Pharsalus and the subsequent death of Cn. Pompeius Magnus, the Civil War continued for C. Julius Caesar. He faced hostile Roman armies in Spain and North Africa. Rumours circulated that the African army was preparing to invade Italy. Order was kept in Rome only through the force employed by Caesar's lieutenant M. Antonius. Contemporaries certainly did not believe Caesar's victory was a foregone conclusion. In the midst of these crises, Caesar faced a mutiny amongst his veteran Gallic legions billeted in Campania. These troops refused his orders to move from Italy to Africa to fight the Pompeian army that had gathered there. Instead they marched to Rome to demand back pay, discharge, and promised bonuses of money and land. Caesar's power, and his very survival, were hanging in the balance.

Our starting point is a somewhat obscure incident which has lately attracted some attention. The year is 429 B.C., and the place is Athens in the third year of the Peloponnesian war. The plague, which had broken out only a year before, was still claiming its victims. Yet military operations were in full swing, and the general Phormio operating in the Corinthian gulf against a Peloponnesian fleet was able to score an impressive victory. The Lacedaemonians were deeply dissatisfied. This was the first sea-fight they had been engaged in, and they found it hard to believe that their fleet was so much inferior to that of the Athenians. They dispatched three advisers to Knemos, the admiral in charge, instructing them to make better preparations for another sea-fight. Additional ships were solicited from the allies, and those already at hand were prepared for battle. It is at this point that the incident in question occurred. Not to prejudge the issue, I quote the text in full leaving the controversial phrases untranslated:4. And Phormio on his part sent messengers to Athens to give information of the enemy's preparations and to tell about the battle which they had won, urging them also to send to him speedily (δι⋯ τ⋯χους) as many ships as possible, since there was always a prospect that a battle might be fought any day.5. So they sent him twenty ships, but gave τῷ δ⋯ κυμ⋯ξοντι special orders to sail first to Crete. Nικ⋯ας γ⋯ρ Kρ⋯ς Γορτ⋯νιος πρ⋯ξενος ⋯ν persuaded them (αὺτο⋯ς) to sail against Cydonia, a hostile town, promising to bring it over to the Athenians; but he was really asking them to intervene to gratify the people of Polichne, who are neighbours of the Cydonians.6. So ⋯ μ⋯ν λαβὼν τ⋯ς να⋯ς. went to Crete, and helped the Polichnitans to ravage the lands of the Cydonians, and by reason of winds and stress of weather wasted not a little time.

Patriarchal amazingness and the subordination of women are typical in almost all social orders and societies. Shashi Deshpande, an Indian writer, depicts the physical, mental, and ideological persecution that patriarchy has caused with indescribable detail. Women's freedom and ladylike character are celebrated by Deshpande through the creation of two strong female characters, Sarita and Indu, who give importance to their internal heart. The role of patriarchy is assumed by female characters in English literature who are quiet, detached, and unapproachable. Desdemona by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, Tess by Thomas Solid, Catherine by Emily Bronte, Isabella, Bertha Bricklayer by Charlotte Bronte, and D.H. Lawrence's Miriam are depicted as powerless, delicate and powerless within the hands of patriarchy. On the flip side, Deshpande succeeds in displaying how her female heroes transform and comprehend their place in society. She has opted for two books that illustrate the patriarchal control and frustrations faced by females in marital unions. Hence, the by and large reason of this article is to portray the long-lasting battle of ladies to discover their genuine personality and position in families, social orders and societies. This inquires about looks for to discover out the genuine nature of patriarchy that endures in society in different shapes and shapes to limit ladies by reducing their internal quality and individuality.

AbstractSix tapestries depict the resistance of Zeeland's Sea Beggars to the Spaniards during the Eighty Years' War. Between 1572 and 1576 the fight for freedom was waged in the Scheldt delta. In 1591 the Estates of Zeeland ordered the first tapestry, a representation of the battle of Bergen op Zoom, from Francois Spierinx, a weaver in Delft. When it arrived in 1595, the Estates decided to have a series of tapestries made for the Prinsenlogement, or royal apartments, in Middelburg Abbey. The five tapestries were woven in the De Maecht workshop in less than ten years. Four of them, representing naval engagements, were designed by Hendrick Cornelisz. Vroom: The Battle of Rammekens, The Battle of Lillo, The Battle of Zierikzee and The Battle of Den Haak. The fifth, the Arms Tapestry, was woven after a design by Carel van Mander. Lord Charles Howard of Effingham, Earl of Nottingham (1536-1624) ordered from Spierinx a series of ten tapestries depicting the English victory over the Spanish Armada. These tapestries, which had hung in the House of Lords since 1650, were destroyed in a fire at the Houses of Parliament in 1834. Vroom based his designs for the Armada tapestries on maps by Robert Adams, engraved by Augustine Ryther. Compared with the Armada series, the composition of the Zeeland tapestries is fluent and vigorous. Vroom had actually visited Zeeland and spoken with eye-witnesses such as Joos dc Moor. The silhouettes of the towns are rendered in detail. Lord Thomas Howard ordered The Last Fight of the Revenge, dated 1598, from the De Maecht workshop in Middelburg. This fairly unknown tapestry, in a private collection since 1934, was on show at the Armada exhibition in the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich in 1988. It was erroneously presumed to have been woven by Spierinx in Brussels. Spierinx, however, came from Antwerp, and moved to Delft in 1591. In view of the dating and an art-historical comparison, an attribution to the Dc Maccht workshop is more likely. Hendrick Vroom designed The Revenge. It bears a marked resemblance to the Zierikzee and Den Haak tapestries in the Zeeland series; the border, too, is similar. Wool, silk, gold and silver thread were used. The latter were costly materials and rarely used in North Netherlandish tapestry production. The tapestry may have been ordered to commemorate Sir Richard Grenville's valiant action. On August 31 1591 Admiral Howard led his fleet to the Azores, off Pico island. His intention was to intercept a Spanish treasure fleet on its return voyage from the West. However, the English were taken by surprise by Armada ships. Howard ordered the retreat, but Grenville, vice-admiral and commander of the Revenge, ignored these orders. He engaged in battle with the attackers, was wounded and died on the Spanish flagship. The composition, a bird's-eye view, of the Revenge tapestry, bears a strong resemblance to the Zierikzee (1599-1603) and Den Haak (1600-1602) tapestries, both of which were woven under the supervision of Hendrick de Maecht, Jan de Maecht's successor. The borders of the tapestries woven in Middelburg echo Spierinx's Bergen op Zoom. The colours in the Bergen op Zoom tapestry are bright and soft, the figures are plastic and the surround merges harmoniously with the representation. Unfortunately this cannot be said of the Zeeland borders. Various alterations in the border of the Revenge mar the harmony and symmetry. The word 'Anno' and the year in the top corners are in the wrong order. In view of the woven rendering of the composition, the use of dark colours and the rather clumsy borders, The Last Fight of The Revenge is more likely to have come from Hendrick de Maecht's studio than from Jan de Maecht's. The latter's products are distinguished by the use of lighter colours and more accurate weaving, as is particularly evident in De Battle of Rammekens and to a lesser extent in The Battle of Lillo.

The coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19) public health crisis has accentuated divides and caused millions of Americans to suffer from increased mental health challenges. Although these challenges are seen throughout the country, socially vulnerable populations including frontline workers, older adults, and children, among others, face increased risk of mental health issues. There has been a notable mental health crisis in the country due to the isolation, stay-at-home orders, and preventive measures put in place to curb the spread. This study investigates the mental health challenges that socially vulnerable populations often face during crises and presents the factors affecting these populations during (and following) the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on an analysis of these factors, several recommendations are made to aid emergency managers, public health officials, policymakers, and academics in better addressing mental health challenges as we continue to battle COVID-19 and in preparation for future public health crises.

Between 1233 and 1258, Franciscan friars attempted to establish themselves in the town of Bury St Edmunds, which was jealously guarded by the Benedictine monks of St Edmunds abbey. In the ensuing conflict (which sometimes spilled over into acts of violence), the monks invoked St Edmund as the protector of the abbey. Although the monks eventually managed to eject the friars from the town in 1263, they were forced to grant the friars a friary site just outside Bury. This article examines how the monks deployed the figure of St Edmund in their battle with the friars, while also exploring the friars’ less well-documented responses. By calling on the saints, both sides elevated the clash between new and old religious orders to the heavenly plane, but the popularity of the new saint, Francis, complicated the monks’ efforts and produced a nuanced response from the Benedictines that eventually accommodated the friars.

Using an interpretative research approach to ethical and legal literature, it is argued that nursing in the battlefield is distinctly different to civilian nursing, even in an emergency, and that the environment is so different that a duty of care owed by military nurses to wounded soldiers should not apply. Such distinct differences in wartime can override normal peacetime professional ethics to the extent that the duty of care owed by military nurses to their patients on the battlefield should not exist. It is also argued that as military nurses have legal and professional obligations to care for wounded soldiers on the battlefield, this obligation conflicts with following military orders, causing a dual loyalty conflict. This is because soldiers are part of the ‘fighting force’ and must be fit to fight and win the battle. This makes them more of a commodity rather than individual persons with distinct health care needs.

How do we explain adequately the relative success or failure of complex political phenomena such as democratization? In the battle between conceptual and explanatory parsimony, on the one hand, and rich, thick description on the other, social scientists often fall into traps that obscure more complete explanations for our cases from the portfolio of the possible. For example, we often unconsciously generalize from the cases we know best. In single case studies, we can fail to recognize the explanations that don't shine brightly or bark loudly. More generally, we acquire a habit of thinking that orders causality in particular ways for each of us, a result both of an empirical reliance on our own familiar cases, and the conceptual and theoretical conclusions we have generalized consciously or unconsciously from those cases. In this article, we are self-consciously engaged in two tasks: (1) comparing divergent outcomes of democratization in otherwise fairly similar cases—Benin and the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville); and (2) proposing three possible primary causal hypotheses for the successful (Benin) and failed (Congo) outcomes.

In order to battle growing inflation, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates in March 2022 for the first time since 2018. This action signals the conclusion of the Federal Reserve's accommodative monetary policy adopted during the pandemic, coinciding with significant inflationary trends in the United States. One of the main focuses that this may bring is the effect on stock price. This article will use past data on NASDAQ stock prices to forecast future trends and will discuss the analysis. At the end, the research finds that Feds policy has let NASDAQ index decrease than expected trends in a long-term perspective. This suggests that the Fed's policy may have a more pronounced impact on long-term trends rather than short-term fluctuations. It also implies that investors should adopt a strategic, long-term approach to their investments, rather than reacting to short-term market noise. Investors may also consider implementing risk management strategies, including stop-loss orders and options contracts, to protect against sudden market downturns that may result from interest rate hikes.

<p><em>ABSTRACT - This conceptual paper proposes a model theory of applying strategic management to the field of personnel resource management. When a country is about to engage in war, one very important thing to understand is the characteristic of the war. In peacetime, the armed forces must prepare for wartime. No two wars are identical, because war is produced by The Paradoxical Trinity. Therefore, the big question is: what is the function and role of Adjutant General corps in this increasingly multidimensional war? The recruitment of adjutant general personnel can no longer rely solely on officers and staff and civil servants on the basis of qualifications as drafted in the Conception of the Adjutant General Transformation in order to support the basic tasks and functions of Army. The Adjutant General corps will also need officers and staff who have experience in the war </em><em>a</em><em>nd staff who have comprehensive analysis skill that includes the three elements of war in The Paradoxical Trinity. This means that Adjutant General should have a specialty in accurately analysing personnel’s capabilities. The main advantage of this scheme is allowing higher vigilance to anticipate war. The ability to receive data and then process it will affect the strength of the army as a whole. Upon this conclusion it is recommended to establish a new sub directorate which functions are to collect information on legislation, daily orders; organizing, inspecting, controlling, and mobilizing troops, military punishment, desertions and rotation of troops to then analyse it for the purpose of providing reports and suggestions for personnel/troop deployment, logistics and movements at headquarters and users. The breadth of this function will result in the importance of the improvement of the competence and position of the Directorate of Adjutant General from Brigadier General to Major General.</em></p>

This article challenges thinkers and activists on the left who are over-suspicious of ideas heralding from disciplines such as interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, developmental psychology, and perhaps especially, evolutionary theory. Although scepticism is frequently warranted, especially as such discourses are often co-opted for neoliberal or far right ends, there is much in all of them that melds well with critiques of hegemonic social orders, providing potential fuel for those working for social change. Much work, for example that of Amy Cuddy, can be interpreted both conservatively and progressively. Work from within an attachment theory paradigm can play a crucial part in the battle of ideas: it has a huge amount to teach about how to create a more humane and egalitarian world, and in countering neoliberal beliefs that humans are innately primarily aggressive, competitive or selfish, or have selfish genes. The days are now over when the biological, psychological and the social need to be pitted against each other. Rather, they now have to be seen as mutually constituted. The brain is a social organ, embedded, embodied, enactive and extended, in large part a reflection of the social conditions in which it grows.

President Lincoln appointed General Joseph Hooker to command the Army of the Potomac in January 1863. In April 1863, Hooker had 130,000 men compared to the Confederate Army’s 60,000. The Union forces had more food, clothing, and ammunition. On a decisive day of the Chancellorsville campaign, as Hooker stood on his headquarters porch, a cannonball struck the pillar against which he was leaning. He was hurled to the floor, stunned and senseless. Unconsciousness followed a lucid interval, requiring rest, when another cannonball struck near him. Half of the army was not thrust into battle, resulting in retreat, because Hooker was not capable of commanding. Hooker’s army missed the opportune time to attack; the order was never received because Hooker suffered a traumatic brain injury. Under current military protocol, Hooker would not be allowed to return to participation. During this crucial period a reporter stated, “the precious hour passed, while our army was without a head.” The Chancellorsville campaign resulted in Union retreat. Hooker’s disabling traumatic brain injury prevented him from giving orders and changing the battle’s outcome. Had the general not sustained a concussion, the Civil War probably would have ended earlier.

Well-meaning volunteers and off-duty medical people begin to fill in where each individual thinks he or she fits in best. Soon the rooms and the corridors of the hospital are filled with people lying, standing and sitting. All sorts of treatments are attempted, orders for assistance go unanswered and general confusion reigns. For many years the military have claimed leading roles in disaster care, giving and taking orders more readily than do most groups of medical civilians. It is the nature of their business to plan for disaster. They take the time to practice and may even be able to test their concepts during wartime.Primary to all these plans is triage or sorting with “the object being to provide preferential treatment for those who could be attended readily and returned to battle, leaving aside those with more complex injuries until either they could be transported or time became available” (1).Watt writes that in 1863 a Doctor Moyle tried to convince military sugeons to adopt a triage system to save lives: “Death, wounds, … limbs lacerated and torn off, wounds from muskets or splinters, bayonet wounds, all these appalling and horrible injuries have to be coped with in a few minutes…” He suggested a system of dividing casualties into three groups: slight, serious and fatal and argued that immediate live-saving surgery be done on the severely injured only if the slightly injured were deferred and the fatally injured put aside (2).

As evidenced by the practice of the russian-ukrainian war, the basis for achieving a successful outcome of hostilities by units and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is: early or operative modeling of the scenario (tactics) of future hostilities; their early and reasonable forecasting of material and technical costs, losses among personnel and weapons and military equipment; determination of the material and technical infrastructure of the enemy to the full depth of the tactical and operational construction of his battle orders, which requires a fire impact; manifestation of full initiative in direct contact with the enemy in all types of combat operations. For convenience and objectivity, the process of predicting the actions of the enemy and simulating the actions of one’s troops on the ground in advance or in real time is achieved by visualizing them using programs with 3D technologies. Visualization (computer animation) allows you to depict in detail the terrain (landscape) of the area of future hostilities and contributes to the competent construction of battle orders of units (subunits) of your troops in relation to the location of the enemy up to a tactical unit: a gun, a tank, a soldier, etc. As a result, the process of making an effective decision, determining a sufficient number of forces and means to be used, and choosing a scenario (tactics) of combat operations taking into account a specific situation is simplified. In addition, it is advisable to create a visualization of combat episodes in the area of hostilities that have already taken place in order to professionally analyze the actions of the opposing parties, to identify shortcomings (or positive, useful points) in the actions of our troops or the enemy. In the educational process, the visualization of combat episodes contributes to the acquisition of combat experience, taking it into account in the further actions of the relevant officials of units (units) and subordinate units (units). The results of hostilities depend on the ability of the appropriate control system in the conditions of an extremely complex and highly dynamic network-centric war to ensure the conduct of complex military, aerospace intelligence and the processing of this intelligence with sufficient speed. Level of reliability and usefulness for obtaining effective management information and bringing it to the relevant management bodies (headquarters or decision-making centers) for the purpose of early planning and making informed decisions regarding the combat use of the specified forces and means. Therefore, the study of the specifics of the content of intelligence-management information (IMinf), which enters management systems through interactive three- dimensional visualization of scenarios and combat episodes, and the determination of trends in the development of such systems is extremely relevant.

The fighters of the People's Liberation War (PLW) enjoyed the social prestige and the monuments of the killed fighters served the role of the ideological interests of the ruling class at the time. The aim of this paper is to show the link between the alive social actors and the chosen dead ones (fighters of the PLW, partisans) through the use of the anthropological anxiety of the cessation of life through metaphorical immortality and eternal memory. Essentially, this was the illusion for ideological foundation, special thematic and ideological orientation of sculptures within the public space. Via symbolic contents, such as monuments in this case, death is shown as the transition, that is, new beginning of life and not its end. Active involvement of a number of artists from all parts of former Yugoslavia within the units of the Partisan army in the PLW is the phenomenon which unequivocally testifies about the link of their political commitment and artistic creation, which also got particularly strong momentum immediately after the Liberation. The most important social task in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) was nurturing of the revolutionary tradition, especially seen in the erection of memorials, then in (re)naming of the towns with Tito's name or the names of the local heroes, as well as streets, schools, factories, but also in organizing marches to places where the famous battles and Partisan sessions during the PLW occurred, etc. This paper, among other things, deals with extremely fruitful production of the sculptors in the liberated country, especially from the aspect of extensive social orders, which at the same time encouraged and enabled fast and diverse development of the public monuments within urban areas on the ground of the whole former Yugoslavia, whose modus operandi was reshaping of the political and ideological map of The New Yugoslavia and ideological and political battle with "relapses of the past".

This paper explores whether artificial ground-mobile systems exhibit a consistent regularity of relation among mass, power, and speed, similar to that which exists for biological organisms. To this end, we investigate an empirical allometric formula proposed in the 1980s for estimating the mechanical power expended by an organism of a given mass to move at a given speed, applicable over several orders of magnitude of mass, for a broad range of species, to determine if a comparable regularity applies to a range of vehicles. We show empirically that not only does a similar regularity apply to a wide variety of mobile systems; moreover, the formula is essentially the same, describing organisms and systems ranging from a roach (1 g) to a battle tank (35,000 kg). We also show that for very heavy vehicles (35,000–100,000,000 kg), the formula takes a qualitatively different form. These findings point to a fundamental similarity between biological and artificial locomotion that transcends great differences in morphology, mechanisms, materials, and behaviors. To illustrate the utility of this allometric relation, we investigate the significant extent to which ground robotic systems exhibit a higher cost of transport than either organisms or conventional vehicles, and discuss ways to overcome inefficiencies.

Violence and aggression has become common phenomena in modern world, they include almost all fields of social life. The reflection of problems the society copes with, is visible in the way of perceiving the educational values by pupils and their behaviour at school. The nature of the educational process organised by school is mainly the interactions among teachers and pupils and pupils themselves. They are not always the best. The anxiety among guidance counsellors and psychologists raises the fact that the cooperation rule and mutual help are replaced by the rule of dominance, extortion and force. The cases of ignoring the teacher's orders are more and more common, lack of respect towards the teaching staff, humiliating adults and vandalism. Pupils battle against teachers and peers too. The school hall is a kind of arena of undesirable behaviours. Therefore, the school as an institution in which children and young people spend 1/3 of their time during the day, should not only deal with teaching but take an active part in the implementation of activities in the field of broadly understood prevention and upbringing. Therefore there are challenges in front of the school aiming at stopping, limiting or even eliminating negative behaviours from children's and teenagers' lives.

It is planned that expenditures borne in 2019-2025 for the French defence sector will increase to 2% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) yearly. According to the French Ministry of Defence the Upgrading Program for Armed Forces of the French Republic (Loi de Programmation Militaire - LPM) is aimed not only for strengthening the strategic autonomy of France but to build the inde-pendent European armed forces, as well. Contrary to former years the LPM preserves the schedule of orders and supplies of previ-ous programs, and the decisions arising from them. At the same time the upgrading of pri-oritized domains connected with execution of operational activities is accelerated. They include: the airplane for air tanking and stra-tegic transport (Multi Role Tanker Transport - MRTT, avion militaire de transport et de ravitaillement), patrolling ships, supplying ships, armoured vehicles. Moreover the continuation is allowed at extended volume for supplies under the prioritized programs such as SCORPION IT system for battle field, light reconnaissance airplanes ALSR and drones of different types. At the same time it facilitates the development work carried out together with the European partners, particularly over the combat airplanes, follower of the aircraft carrier or the combat tank of the future [1].

Since the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth centuries, football squads have defined themselves as exclusively male domains with explicit military characteristics. The rules and tactics of football used to be interpreted in categories of battle orders. Furthermore, football language is full of concepts and ideas which derive directly from the terminology of the military. This issue extends to various aspects of German football culture. Early textbooks of football training, dietetics and hygiene understood the physical constitution of football players in terms of tough, soldierly masculinity. German squads used to practise tough, masculine rituals of initiation, comradeship and discipline. Some of the fundamental rituals in this context were derived from the everyday life of the barracks. The military-athletic masculinity of football and the crude ideals and rituals of German student fraternities reflected important social differences between these groups. Military connotations are an important reason for the long-lasting exclusion of women from football culture - not only in Germany. Like the military terminology of football, the moral representation of the players as national heroes who are prepared to accept subordination within a team of fighters can also be found nowadays. This paper will describe the roots of the soldierly, athletic paradigm that inspired football culture even after the Second World War.
