Abstract Older adults and individuals with disabilities face transportation challenges on a daily basis that differ from the general population. Transportation is critical to all aspects of quality of life yet presents significant challenges. Lack of appropriate vehicles, reliable public transportation, and the high-cost of vehicle ownership lead to missed healthcare appointments, lack of access to proper nutrition, and social isolation. The purpose of the study was to provide information for the Commission on Services to the Aging. It was necessitated by the lack of existing data from the Department of Transportation because Michigan’s transportation systems are locally controlled. An online questionnaire was emailed to public and private organizations serving older adults and people with disabilities to determine transportation services currently available in their geographic areas and innovative solutions employed to address barriers. The questionnaire was adapted from the National Center of Senior Transportation in 2009 that produced the report “Transportation: The Silent Need”. The study analyzed data on current transportation services and innovative solutions piloted in Michigan. Respondents represented every Michigan county and included area agencies on aging, senior centers, councils on aging, healthcare agencies, transportation providers, community action agencies, and job training programs. Information includes: services provided by the agency; barriers to accessing transportation; access to transportation services information; transport services previously used, currently available, and being planned. Many of the 95 respondents commented on persistent lack of funding for viable, reliable transportation options and jurisdictional issues. Most pilots used fixed routes, volunteer drivers, demand response and expanded schedules.

Food and nutrition security information is a vital component and essential indicator for agriculture and livelihood development. Detailed information and stakeholders' participation in assessing food and nutrition security, especially community and household aspects, is inadequate in the Sudano-Sahelian region. This has necessitated the cross-sectional survey to assess the food and nutrition security status and factors influencing food security in the region. Cross-sectional data were collected from four (4) states (Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi and Gombe), covering 1,200 households. Primary data were collected using a structured questionnaire to elicit information on respondents' profiles, food security parameters and other household activities. Descriptive statistics, Food Consumption Score (FCS), Household Dietary Diversity Score (HDDS), Household Hunger Scale (HHS) and Coping Strategy Index (CSI) and binary logistic regression were used for data analysis. Results show that household demographic characteristics, especially education, access to credit and the market, are essential components for strengthening household income-generating activities in Northern Nigeria. Food insecurity and nutrition deficiency exist among households with average food consumption scores, poor dietary diversity associated with increased hunger and averagely weak coping strategies. The significant factors influencing food security status positively include the volume of output produced, annual income, and access to credit. The output volume produced an annual income essential for strengthening household food and nutrition security in the Sudano-Sahelian Region. The study recommends the need for massive awareness of the importance of producing essential food crops. Their utilisation at the household level is essential to strengthening the food consumption score and dietary diversity by utilising various food groups. Stakeholders, particularly Government, NGOs, INGOs, and donors, should develop and implement measures to facilitate access to Food and basic social services, especially in vulnerable households. Lastly, income diversification and strengthening incentives for increased food production are essential for the households.

Since the concept of multidimensional poverty was initiated in Sen’s works, coupled with the national database providing increasingly complete information on meeting the basic needs of the society, the measurement and evaluation of multidimensional poverty have become popular and attracted the attention of many researchers. The multidimensional poverty line can be based on indicators that are not related to incomes or expenditures. However, it includes other dimensions such as the lack of basic social services. Hence, measuring and implementing poverty reduction policies under the multidimensional approach should be comprehensive in all aspects and cover fields such as education, health, and living conditions (including housing, water supply, possession of sustainable assets, etc.). Since 2016, Quang Ngai province has changed from using the unidimensional to multidimensional poverty measurement method following Decision No. 59/2015/QD-TTg on the multidimensional approach poverty lines applicable for the period 2016-2020. From studies and consultation with experts and researchers in the field of poverty reduction, 11 indicators suitable for measuring multidimensional poverty in Quang Ngai province were proposed, including education level of adults; school attendance of children; access to health services; health insurance, social assistance; child mortality; nutrition; housing quality; fuel used for cooking; water supply sources; toilets; and the possession of sustainable assets.

This study examines the health status of Pakistani children using two important indicators, morbidity and malnutrition measured by weight-for-age and height-for-age. The demand for medical services has also been determined. The main data source used in this study is the 2000-01 Pakistan Social-Economic Survey (PSES), which provides sufficient information on child health and poverty. Findings of the study show that both exclusive breastfeeding during the first 4-5 months of life and immunisation can help control the occurrence of illness significantly among the young children (0-5 months). These also reinforce the role of mother’s education in the production of child health (nutritional status). This role of mother’s education is found to be more pronounced in the poor families than in the non-poor families. The rise in poverty since the mid-1990s has adversely influenced the nutritional status of children. The basic issue is about how to reduce the household food insecurity. The benefits of recent high GDP growth may be transferred to the poor through employment generation, which has been slow in the past decade. Real incomes of the poor and the vulnerable segments of the population may also be protected against the rise in prices of essential food items. At present, the health and nutrition sector is getting only 0.7 percent of the GDP. Health care facilities in the country are curative in nature, and are heavily skewed in favour of the diagnostic and treatment side, not preventive healthcare aspects. More resources should be made available for preventive healthcare aspects. Coverage of child immunisation should be enhanced, and the provision of safe drinkingwater may be given high priority in the social sector policies.

Weighed food records together with an in-person interview approach constitute the most basic methods used to estimate energy and nutrient intakes in dietary surveys. In the background of the coronavirus disease-2019 pandemic, the need for non-face-to-face dietary surveys using information and communication technology (ICT) is increasing. We aimed to evaluate ICT-based dietary record surveys and identify factors that may enable this survey method to become more widely used in the future. We conducted a non-face-to-face survey of dietary records of 44 Japanese individuals, maintained by dietitians using dietary photography and video conferencing services. We conducted a focus group interview with the six dietitians who conducted that survey. Their opinions on the factors necessary to popularize ICT-based dietary survey method were analyzed. In the focus group interview, dietitians highlighted fewer restrictions on time and place as positive aspects. Negative aspects included insufficient skills to operate computers, difficulty in hearing, and understanding facial expressions using ICT. We identified three main factors for enabling widespread use of ICT-based dietary record survey: individual skill, device and technology, and social environmental factors. This suggests that a comprehensive approach is necessary for popularizing the use of ICT in dietary surveys.

Objective The aims of the present study, in home enteral nutrition (HEN) patients, were to assess patient satisfaction with the service and quality of life (QOL) scores, and to compare QOL scores in HEN patients with general Australian population values. Methods Self-administered voluntary questionnaires for the present cross-sectional study were mailed out to 322 eligible participants registered with HEN for >5 months. The questionnaires used included a patient satisfaction survey and a validated QOL questionnaire. Data analysis consisted of cross-tabulation, Chi-squared tests and t-tests. Results There were 112 participants. Patients reported satisfaction with information received before discharge (86%), support received after discharge (74%), expertise of the health professional (87%), access to health professionals experienced with HEN (74%), communication between health professionals (74%), costs of HEN supplies (52%) and delivery of HEN supplies (88%). QOL scores related to physical, psychological, social and environment domains were significantly lower in HEN patients than in the Australian reference population (P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in QOL and health satisfaction across different clinical areas (0.737 and 0.316, respectively). Conclusion Overall, participants were satisfied with HEN services. Participants had lower QOL scores compared with the Australian general population. Improvements to the HEN service were suggested, including sooner follow-up after hospital discharge; more frequent reviews for long-term patients; and the availability of a multidisciplinary team to manage HEN patients. What is known about the topic? Malnutrition is a common problem in Australian hospitals. Many patients require nutrition support to maintain or improve their nutrition status because of inadequate oral intake, malabsorption of nutrients or because of a disease process. Nutrition support is commonly started in the in-patient setting and, because of faster patient discharge from hospital, HEN is a cost-effective and reliable way of treating patients who continue to need nutrition support after hospital discharge. Inconsistencies exist in service provision of HEN because there is no national or state-wide standardisation of services. Australian studies that have evaluated patient satisfaction with HEN services are lacking. This is of particular importance because HEN service use is increasing. What does this paper add? This study reveals that patients receiving HEN therapy are mostly satisfied with the service provided. Patients surveyed have expressed important aspects of the HEN service include follow-up and advice from health care professionals, low price and home delivery of supplies, emphasising the importance of adequate clinical services, supply and delivery of HEN. QOL is poorer in the HEN patient population compared with the general Australian population. What are the implications for practitioners? Standardisation of HEN services is important to ensure uniformity in service provision to HEN patients. Health services adhering to best practice guidelines for HEN will result in the provision of adequate quality of care, and subsequently improved patient satisfaction and adherence to HEN therapy. Adequate service provision and appropriate monitoring and review of HEN patients in the community may also contribute to better health outcomes and better QOL for patients.

Background. The COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, was announced by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020 and identified as having a significant negative impact on the functioning of health systems and the economic development of countries. To date, we know the impact of the pandemic on the decrease in the availability of medical care, difficulties with the annual monitoring and screening of socially significant diseases. But we will be able to fully assess the medical, clinical and psychosocial consequences of the pandemic, which are just beginning to manifest themselves, only in the coming years. The purpose was to study and analyze the features of clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, immunity and social significance of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine. Materials methods. The available current normative and literary sources were investigated. Methods: bibliosemantic - for studying the lokal and world science and information space on the problem under study; a systematic approach and analysis - for a comprehensive study of an object, a subject in a systemic relationship, for analyzing problematic issues, ways to solve them. Results. The medical feature of COVID-19 in Ukraine is the two-stage course of the disease 1-10 days - active replication of the virus; 8-14 days or longer - immune dysfunction (eg, respiratory problems, other serious conditions). Often recorded injury of the lungs in the form of pneumonitis, although it is mainly the disease of mild or moderate severity. Diagnostic is based on the detection of the RNA of the virus using PCR or immunoglobulins by ELISA. Treatment is mostly symptomatic. The social significance of the COVID-19 pandemic was reflected in the increase in patients with mental disorders, victims of domestic violence, deterioration in the health of the population due to the limited availability of many types of medical services, increased workload and housework, decreased income and a deterioration in the quality of life. Conclusions. The COVID-19 pandemic over the year of its existence has caused changes in many spheres of life of the world's population, and Ukraine is not an exception. Disease COVID-19 has nonspecific symptoms, can proceed under the mask of many pathological conditions. especially in the presence of comorbid diseases. The pathogenetic features of the course of COVID-19 are poorly understood, which limits the possibilities of effective etiopathogenetic therapy. The virus constantly mutates and leaves an unstable and short-lived immunity, which explains its diversity of the clinical symproms in different populations. In addition to a direct increase in morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19, the virus can affect the psychoemotional state of people, reduce income and deterioration in nutrition, especially among the most vulnerable segments of the population, which requires taking these aspects into account when making decisions at the legislative level with an emphasis on addressing gender and social inequality.

e18518 Background: Initiatives enhancing equitable oncologic care are an increasingly emphasized priority. Our study aims to identify aspects of breast cancer (BC) care in which differences exist based on insurance coverage status. Methods: We performed a retrospective, case control study consisting of 39 Hispanic ethnicity uninsured patients (UP) with newly diagnosed BC at federally qualified health centers and 119 insured patients (IP) diagnosed at Mayo Clinic Arizona (MCA). Patients were matched 3:1 for age, stage, year of diagnosis, ER and HER2 status. Demographic information, clinical variables, and zip code level specific socioeconomic information were compared. Continuous variables were compared by Wilcoxon rank-sum test and categorical variables by chi-square test. All patients ultimately received their cancer treatment at MCA. Results: Similar treatment patterns with chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation treatment were observed between groups. Primary language was Spanish for 94% of UP and English for 97.5% of IP. The majority of UP were of Hispanic ethnicity (97.4%); IP were 83.2% non-Hispanic White, 9.2% Hispanic, 3.4% African American. Zip code level information reflected more unemployment with a median of 10.6% versus 6.9% p ˂ 0.001, percent of high school or lower (53.0 % v 23.2 %, p ˂ 0.001), and lower income for UP (33733.5 v 64728.0 p values ˂ 0.001). UP BMI was significantly higher (30.6 V 24.7, p=0.005), with presence of more co-morbidities; diabetes (28.2% v 5.0%, p ˂ 0.001), hypertension (35.9 % v 20.2%, p= 0.046), dyslipidemia (28.2% v 12.6%, p = 0.023), metabolic syndrome (p 23.7% v 8.5, p= 0.013), and tobacco use (17.9% v 2.5%, p ˂ 0.001). IP had higher alcohol use (52.9% v 5.3%, p ˂ 0.001). Genetics consultation was performed for 62.2% IP versus 35.9% UP (p=0.004), lower acceptance of oncology nutrition consultation for UP (29.4% vs 7.4%, p= 0.024) Median time from abnormal mammogram to biopsy (25.5 days vs. 14 days, p=0.056), and interval from diagnosis to treatment (62 days vs. 39 days) (p=0.001) were less favorable for UP compared to IP. Conclusions: In comparing the status of UP (primarily Hispanic, Spanish-speaking) and IP (primarily non-Hispanic White, English-speaking) with newly diagnosed BC we identified greater prevalence of co-morbidities and adverse social determinants of health in the former group. We identified access to genetic counseling services, access to oncology nutrition consultation, and timeliness of diagnostic biopsy and initiation of treatment as disparate features in the care pathway. These observations can allow development of tailored interventions to achieve greater equity in delivery of BC care.

The inhabitants of the world are expected to grow by two billion in the next two decades; as population increases, food demand rises too, leading to more intensive resource exploitation and greater negative externalities related to food production. In this paper the environmental impact of meals provided in school canteens are analysed through the Life Cycle Assessment methodology, in order to evaluate the GHGs emissions released by food production. Meals, and not just individual foods, have been considered so as to include in the analysis the nutritional aspects on which meals are based. Results shows that meat, fish and dairy products are the most impacting in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, with values that shift from 31.7 and 24.1 kg CO2 eq for butter and veal, to 2.37 kg CO2 eq for the octopus, while vegetables, legumes, fruit and cereals are less carbon intensive (average of 3.71 kg CO2 eq for the considered vegetables). When the environmental impact is related to the food energy, the best option are first courses because they combine a low carbon footprint with a high energy content. The results of the work can be used both by the consumer, who can base the meal choice on environmental impact information, and by food services, who can adjust menus to achieve a more sustainable production.

ABSTRACTObjective: aim to describe the dynamics of the nursing and nutrition workshops as well as the main results the scholars observed throughout the project entitled “Therapy workshops for healthy life habits at the Arthur Bispo do Rosário Center”. Methodology: this is an experience report. Results: the workshops occurred on a weekly basis, with 90 minutes of duration. The following aspects were perceived: the participants demonstrated little concern with regard to their own bodies and health; a significant lack of adequate information; the use of home remedies; and the need for settings for the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Thus, the activities undertaken contribute to a greater socialization of people with mental disorders; arouse interest for self-care and for the externalization of feelings and experiences. Conclusion: the OT is a strategy of innovative and effective care by enabling the creation of bonding and trust between participants and facilitators of the activity, producing an atmosphere of communication and exchange, which favors the development of autonomy and greater social interaction among the users. Descriptors: mental health services; health education; self care. As the number of social networking services (SNS) and their users grow, so does the complexity of individual networks as well as the amount of information to be consumed by the users. Users of SNS exchange short and instantaneous messages interactively, which can be seen as conversations. We explore this conversational aspect of SNS and show how refined topic-based semantic social networks can be formed in order to reduce the complexity and information overload. Among other possibilities, we use the notion of topic diversity and topic purity of SNS conversations between two users and show different types of social relationships can be identified in that they break down a huge “syntactic” social network into topic-based ones based on different interaction types. Resulting semantic social networks can be useful in designing various targeted services on online social networks.

Today’s applications and providers are very interested in knowing the social aspects of users in order to customize the services they provide and to be more effective. Among the others, the most frequented places and the paths to reach them are information that turns out to be very useful to define users’ habits. The most exploited means to acquire positions and paths is the GPS sensor, however it has been shown how leveraging inertial data from installed sensors can lead to path identification. In this work, we present a Computationally Efficient algorithm to Reconstruct Vehicular Traces (CERT), a novel algorithm which computes the path traveled by a vehicle using accelerometer and magnetometer data. We show that by analyzing data obtained through the accelerometer and the magnetometer in vehicular scenarios, CERT achieves almost perfect identification for medium and small sized cities. Moreover, we show that the longer the path, the easier it is to recognize it. We also present results characterizing the privacy risks depending on the area of the world, since, as we show, urban dynamics play a key role in the path detection.

Pharmacological, surgical and technological advances have resulted in children now surviving through adolescence into adulthood with conditions that were previously unseen by adult services. Arranging transition for young people on home parenteral nutrition (HPN) to the adult sector is one of greatest challenges for health services that care for young people. Transition is not only a key quality issue for health services, but is a multidimensional process covering psychosocial, educational and vocational aspects. Poorly-planned transition may result in difficulties when young people access adult specialist services. As a consequence, there may be increased risk of non-adherence or lack of follow-up, which carries dangers of morbidity and mortality as well as poor social and educational outcomes. Transition does not end at the exit from the paediatric clinic, but continues into the adult sector, which needs to provide developmentally-appropriate clinical care. Recent Department of Health initiatives are aimed at ensuring that young people do not miss out on healthcare during the transfer between paediatric and adult services. Transfer can be a major, often daunting, event for young people. Parents may also fear transfer and need to learn to ‘let go’ of some control, which may be particularly difficult with a young person on HPN.

Social networking services are among the most applied internet services. Studies concerning post-adoption behavior have focused usage motivations, such as usefulness and enjoyment. Nevertheless, the understanding of consumer behavior in the context of these services is still very limited. Especially, there is no model that integrates the highly relevant switching costs to explain the complex interdependencies within the usage phase. Another specific problem of social networking services relates to the acceptance of revenue models. This study contributes to closing this research gap by proposing a model of post-adoption behavior which covers these aspects. The model assumes two important mechanisms: a loyalty-centered dedication-based mechanism, and a constraint-based mechanism, which refers to the switching costs involved. The focus of the model is widened beyond usage intention to other dependent variables which are crucial from a business perspective, such as usage concentration, willingness to pay and acceptance of advertisements. The empirical test of the proposed model was conducted using a sample (N=208) from users of social networking services. The results of structural equation modeling analysis indicate that the model is able to explain substantially the variance of some of the dependent variables, such as usage intention and usage concentration. Concerning the revenue model acceptance, three positions of users to the financing of service providers are deduced: information seller, privacy concerned user and free rider. Based on the results, theoretical and practical implications are derived.

Relevance of research. Ukraine, according to its Constitution, is a social state, whose activities are aimed at creating conditions that ensure a dignified life and free human development. The evolution of such state occurs through the implementation of a social function, the meaning of which is to provide guarantees of a social nature, social protection, social attending, social partnership and the like. Formulation of the problem. With the implementation of socio-economic reforms in Ukraine in the early 90s, the system of providing social services to the population has undergone major changes. In Soviet times, social services were provided in the social security system in stationary institutions: nursing homes, orphanages, boarding schools (hospitals) for neuropsychiatric patients, etc. In terms of their goals and content, they were aimed at helping those categories of the population who could not independently serve themselves through loneliness, orphanhood, severe disability or illness. The transition to a market economic system, a sharp increase in the number of citizens in need of social protection in the early 90s, forced the state and the institution of local self-government, which appeared during the reforms, to rethink the role of social services in human life and the organization of their provision. Networks of state and municipal institutions began to be created, designed to provide specialized social assistance, which made it possible to form a new system of social attending for the population. The rapid growth of the population's needs for social services, their impact on the dynamics of the development of society and the nature of social relations, forced to take care of the financial sources for the provision of such services. However, this issue has not yet been finally resolved. The market economy requires the creation of a multi-channel system for financing of social protection of the population. Analysis of recent research and publications. Modern research on social attending are often carried out in the context of social policy, social work, or social assistance. Among foreign scientists studying social issues are T. E. Demidova, G. Inglehart, E. E. Machulskaya, V. Pareto, V. D. Roick, R. Titmus, E. I. Kholostova, S. Eisebi, L. Erhard, G. Esping-Andersen and many others. Among the latest publications of domestic authors, scientific articles should be named: S. A. Gorbunova-Ruban and I. M. Vitkovskaya, who analyze the activities of public organizations as subjects of the provision of social services in the city of Kharkov. К. Dubich research is dedicated to the issues of state management of social services; I. V. Meschan considers social services as a component of the system of social protection of the population from the standpoint of the sociological and managerial aspect and covers in detail the theoretical approaches to the concepts of “service” and “social service”; Popok A. and Greby G. make a structural and functional analysis of the system of social services in Ukraine; Rotar V. explores modern approaches to understanding the content of the category "social services"; Savchuk L. analyzes the reforming of the system of social services in the context of decentralization and some others. The financial aspects of social services are highlighted along with other issues of financial provision of social protection of the population. Unexplored parts of the general problem. Despite the number of works on social protection and social attending, it should be noted that the evolution of social protection, economic reforms in the country encourage further study of theoretical foundations and search for financial sources of social services, taking into account the difficult financial situation of the economy and implementation strategic course of Ukraine for European integration. Many questions of theoretical and methodological nature remain open. Problem statement, research objectives. The purpose of the article is to highlight the unsolved problems of social attending in Ukraine of a theoretical, methodological and financial nature, as well as to present the author's vision of their solution. To achieve the goal, the article sets and solves the following tasks: to analyze the theoretical and methodological foundations of social attending (services) for the population as one of the important elements of the social security system; to identify the features of the domestic model of financial provision of social attending; to determine the prospects for social attending in Ukraine. Method and methodology of the study. During the study, historical, analytical-empirical, inductive-deductive, comparative research methods were used to establish the theoretical and methodological foundations of social services in Ukraine, as well as to clarify some issues of financial support of the existing model of the system of social services in Ukraine. The method of expert assessments, the causal (cause-and-effect) method of scientific research were used for understanding of the state of the modern system of social services in Ukraine and to determine the directions for further research in this area. The results of study. The paper examines the theoretical, methodological and financial aspects of social attending, shows its structural and logical scheme, developed by the authors. It has been established that in economic theory and in practice concerning social attending there is confusion in basic concepts and terms. It is, first, because in Ukraine there is still no single normative legal act that would clearly define all controversial issues and regulate legal relations between the state and citizens on the issues of receiving various types of social assistance. It is argued that the concept of "social attending" should not be replaced by the concept of "provision of social services". It means the performance of work, functions related to the satisfaction of someone's requests or needs, so in its content is a broader concept, as it involves the creation of conditions for the development of social capital. Social attending is an independent element of the system of social protection of the population; it includes the provision of social services. The structural and logical scheme of social services is presented. It is shown that the system of social services in Ukraine is constantly in the process of modernization in accordance with the new needs of citizens and modern world approaches to social attending. Several approaches of scientists to social attending are analyzed. It is argued that in recent years, due to the war in the East of the country and the need to fight coronavirus infection during the 2020-2021 pandemic. There was a reorientation of spending on social protection and social security in favor of social attending, namely, the provision of social services to the population, as well as an increase in the remuneration of workers involved in this process. It was found that local budgets and the budgets of the united territorial communities became a significant factor in financial support in the context of the decentralization reform. The article presents the parameters of the provision of social services by united territorial communities (UTC). It is forms a general idea of the resource potential of UTC within certain regions and how actively they are involved in the process of social services to their residents. It is found out why the pilot project "Development of social services", intended for the development of social services of the UTC, failed in 2020. The assessments of domestic experts in the field of social attending were studied, which made it possible to form an idea of the advantages and disadvantages of the existing system of social services. Possible ways of its improvement are outlined. The creation of a multichannel financing system is named as a feature of financial support for social protection of the population, including social services. The authors note that budget funding should be allocated on a competitive basis, and a contract should be concluded with the winner for the provision of services at the expense of the budget. The mission of the state in this matter is to control the quality of social services, the timeliness and targeting of their provision, the targeted and rational use of funds. The provision of social services should be carried out on a competitive basis. The field of results application. The research results can be used in theory and practice in the field of social services. The indicated shortcomings of the existing system for the provision of social services and their analysis will be a useful source of information for developing ways to improve the domestic model of financial support for the provision of social services to the population of Ukraine. Conclusions. The study of the theoretical, methodological and financial aspects of social attending in Ukraine gives grounds to draw the following conclusions. Despite the adoption of a number of regulatory documents defining the concept of "social services", there is confusion in economic theory and in practice on the use of basic concepts and terms. It is because Ukraine still does not have a single regulatory legal act that would clearly define all these points and regulate the legal relationship between the state and citizens regarding the receipt of various types of social assistance. The concept of "social services" should not be replaced by the concept of "provision of social services". Social attending means the performance of work, functions related to the satisfaction of someone's needs or needs. Therefore, in its content, it is a broader concept, since it implies the creation of conditions for the development of social capital, and not only the provision of social services to vulnerable categories of the population or citizens who find themselves in a difficult life situation. This term should designate one of the elements of the social protection system of the population, which is engaged in the provision of social services. The system of social services in Ukraine is constantly in the process of renewal and modernization in accordance with the new needs of citizens and modern world approaches to social services. The adoption of the new edition of the Law "On social services" and the classifier of social services is an important step towards reforming the system of social services. A feature of the financial provision of social attending in a market economy is the creation of a multichannel financing system. It means that various subjects of the social services market should be involved in the provision of services, and the state should exercise control over their quality, targeted and rational use of funds, timeliness and targeting of their provision. The mission of the state in this matter is to help service providers financially on a competitive basis. The existing system for the provision of social services has a number of shortcomings. It still remains distant from the real needs of a specific person who needs social protection, so it cannot yet be considered effective. Prospects for further research should be conducted in the direction of deepening theoretical research in the following areas: A clearer definition of the economic and legal content of categories and concepts in the in the social security system; Development of the Social Code of Ukraine; Improvement of the domestic model of financial support for the in the social security system, including social attending for the population, for the delineation of financial powers between providers of social services, as well as the development of a methodology for assessing the financial efficiency of the provision of social services.

Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is turning out to be one of the first impressive examples of Internet of Things (IoT). In IoV, the factors of connectivity and interaction/information dispersion are equally important as sensing/actuating, context-awareness, services provisioning, etc. However, most of the researches related to connectivity and interaction are constrained to physics of signaling and data science (semantics/contents), respectively. Very rapidly, the meanings of these factors are changing due to evolution of technologies from physical to social domain. For example, Social IoV (SIoV) is a term used to represent when vehicles build and manage their own social network. Hence, in addition to physical aspects, the social aspects of connectivity and information dispersion towards these systems of future should also be researched, a domain so far ignored in this particular context. In this paper, an agent-based model of information sharing (for context-based recommendations) of a hypothetical population of smart vehicles is presented. Some important hypotheses are tested under reasonable connectivity and data constraints. The simulation results reveal that closure of social ties and its timing impacts the dispersion of novel information (necessary for a recommender system) substantially. It is also observed that as the network evolves due to incremental interactions, the recommendations guaranteeing a fair distribution of vehicles across equally good competitors is not possible.

Since 1991, 17 elderly people have been connected via a broadband video communication system to a telecare centre. The new services used videophones based on domestic television sets, including set-top boxes with cameras and a microphone. The services had the overall aim of promoting the ability of elderly and mobility-impaired people to live independently and to reduce the demand on social service resources required to implement this. Service components included: remote response to emergencies; active information and care; information and assistance service; remote care on demand; remote access to expertise (counselling); training and exercise service; and support for carers. Some 14,000 calls have been made. The important qualitative aspects were: clients’ satisfaction; replacement of direct social contacts; privacy and data protection; and improving the effectiveness of social services. For a successful market implementation of video-based social support and telecare services, it is essential to integrate them into existing outpatient services.

Cities across England will see a growing number of informal carers as the population ages, many of whom do not begin this role equipped with the knowledge they need to access social care services and supports. One of the more significant changes brought by passage of the Care Act of 2014 is local governments’ increased responsibility to improve the provision of information and advice on social care to informal carers, long recognized as a policy priority. To better understand where improvements can be made on a local level in order to achieve the goals laid out in the Care Act, this study considers carers’ experiences accessing information and advice on social care services and supports in a city with a population of over 250,000 in the south of England. This was done through the collection of semi-structure qualitative interviews with 11 carers to people aged 65 and older from April 2015 to July 2015. Thematic analysis of interviews revealed a tension between carers’ varying levels of knowledge and experience with the social care system and information services’ one-size-fits-all approach to providing information. Findings suggest local governments should focus on creating information services that more actively reach out to carers, provide greater guidance to those carers who need it, and work to flexibly meet informal carers information needs, acknowledging that some carers will be less familiar than others with aspects of the social care system.

The relevance of the issue is accounted for by the growing number of the unemployed in modern society, which is triggered off by the economic and epidemiological crisis, the discrepancy between unemployed citizens’ want of social and psychological support and the fact that the theoretical and applied aspects of the issue are underdeveloped and specialists who are expected to provide support provide information services instead. The article presents the results of a theoretical analysis of unemployed citizens’ psychological characteristics. The analysis is conducted to estimate social and psychological support required to help unemployed people to successfully adapt to the changing conditions of life associated with employment loss and job search. The article shows that people who have lost employment are subject to dismay, anxiety, depression, low level of self-acceptance and acceptance of others, emotional discomfort, and internality. There are some factors that hinder unemployed people’s adaptation to the new conditions of life. These factors are extreme anxiety and low stress resilience, psycasthenic, unstable, and hyperthymic forms of accentuation. The factors that can improve one’s adaptability are stress resilience, optimism, active life style, communicability, internal locus of control, emotional liability, positive perception of self, positive attributional style, etc. The article discusses neurotic and constructive behavioral patterns in situations of job loss. It also deals with successful and unsuccessful, optimistic and pessimistic types of unemployed people. The analysis of the abovementioned factors enables the authors of the article to identify the major aspects of social and psychological support unemployed people need. It also enables the authors to elaborate strategies of psychological correction and employment assistance, such as the identification of factors that hinder one’s adaptation to the new conditions of life and the elaboration of strategies that will improve people’s adaptability skills. The article maintains that in order to improve the quality of social and psychological services rendered by specialists working with the unemployed and to ensure that all unemployed citizens get the required social and psychological support, it is essential to examine unemployed people’s psychological characteristics.

The article deals with the basic concepts and tendencies of the digital economy. The current state of the digital economy and prospects for its development in Ukraine are analyzed. It is proposed to consider the digital economy development as an element of the social development strategy. The research methodology includes neo-institutional and systemic approaches, as well as analysis of statistics and data from social studies. The work concerns equally the theoretical and applied aspects of the topic. The paper is based on secondary data that has been collected from the official statistics, the Internet, science articles, interviews, papers, etc. The analysis results indicate a relatively unfavorable situation in Ukraine. The digital economy development entails dramatic changes in social relations. These processes include both risks (the market is being restructured in a new way, leading to challenges related to jobs, skills, security and privacy), as well as prospects (stimulating innovation, increasing governance efficiency, improving service delivery, inclusion and sustainable economic growth, the well-being of citizens, countries and society). The society and the state should be properly prepared for such changes. Therefore, the digital economy development in terms of public administration should be seen as an element of a social development strategy that requires proper scientific and expert substantiation. The concept of digital economy development in Ukraine envisages several measures aimed at addressing digital gap (from digital jobs to digital initiatives in the modern world, conducting digitalization of industry and business, defining basic digital services, preparing educational modernization measures, as well as forecasting digital development in Ukraine until 2020). On January 17, 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy and Society of Ukraine for 2018-2020 and a plan of measures for its implementation. The document emphasizes that the path to the digital economy and digital society of Ukraine lies through the domestic product market, use and consumption of information and communication or digital technologies. The digital economy development is a set of mechanisms, motivation factors, and incentives for the implementation of digital technologies, and, therefore, a branched digital infrastructure for harnessing the state's capabilities, enhancing its competitiveness, and increasing the well-being of citizens. Currently, Ukrainian market of information products and services is at the stage of formation. The market of information products consists of technical and technological components (modern information equipment, powerful computers, advanced computer network and related information processing technologies, which enables to work on the global computer network Internet, search information, customers, goods, hypertext management technology, e-mail); regulatory and legal components (the legal basis for regulating the information market); organizational components (elements of state regulation of interaction between producers and distributors of information products and services). At the same time, the tasks of identifying specific practical legal, regulatory (organizational), economic and financial infrastructural mechanisms for the development of the «digital society» that would facilitate the rapid growth of the digital economy remain unresolved.

This paper aims to analyze the influence that certain social factors (education and area of residence) have on the most likely scenarios people encounter in their online activities. Among the possible scenarios of using the internet, based on everyday individuals’ activities, we selected seeking information about health, goods, and services, taking online courses, internet banking, and participating in social networks. Using data acquired from international databases over the 2002–2020 period, we proposed five hypotheses and applied a multilinear regression model to the data collected for four European countries, namely, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Slovenia. We have analyzed the degree of confirmation for all five hypotheses. The results provided a better understanding of the influence of the above-mentioned factors on the considered scenarios, allowing stakeholders to define and propose specific development policies.

In our era of big data and information overload, content consumers utilise a variety of sources to meet their data and informational needs for the purpose of acquiring an in-depth perspective on a subject, as each source is focused on specific aspects. The same principle applies to the online social networks (OSNs), as usually, the end-users maintain accounts in multiple OSNs so as to acquire a complete social networking experience, since each OSN has a different philosophy in terms of its services, content, and interaction. Contrary to the current literature, we examine the users’ behavioural and disseminated content patterns under the assumption that accounts maintained by users in multiple OSNs are not regarded as distinct accounts, but rather as the same individual with multiple social instances. Our social analysis, enriched with information about the users’ social influences, revealed behavioural patterns depending on the examined OSN, its social entities, and the users’ exerted influence. Finally, we ranked the examined OSNs based on three types of social characteristics, revealing correlations between the users’ behavioural and content patterns, social influences, social entities, and the OSNs themselves.

Social services are services that meet demands of community and individuals for social development, enhance welfare and social equality, promote ethical values and humanities, for humans and of socio-economic nature which can be provided by government, society or market. Social services can be either public or private dependent on its type, in the fields of education, training, medicine, science, technology, culture, information, sports or other social assistance forms. Despite facing with economic and social challenges, Japan remains a powerhouse not only in world’s economy but also in social management and development. Japan has strived to find the most suitable management model to enhance living standards, in which social services have obtained outstanding achievements. Their experience is worth learning. Through analyzing Japan’s social management and development model, we found that it is necessary for Vietnam to define a theoretical and practical basis for social services and welfare policies in a clear, thorough and uniform manner in order to create a suitable model for social services development. This is for the primary target of generating a better life in both physical and mental aspects.

Background Social networks have been pointed out as 1 of the greatest means of spreading information. A large part of the population is already present on these platforms, looking up subjects such as health, nutrition, and food. To reach this audience, it may be important for dietitians to explore social networks. However, there is a gap in scientific studies on exploring the ways in which these platforms are used by dietitians in Brazil, and the roles they play in the profession have not been well defined. Objective This study aims to describe the roles that social networks play in dietitians' practice in Brazil and their mode of use of social networks. This study also aims to identify professionals’ perceptions and opinions regarding the use of these tools, as well as changes in behavior on social network usage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods We carried out a quantitative cross-sectional study, collecting data through an online questionnaire, submitted between October 2020 and January 2021 to dietitians registered on the Federal Council of Dietitians. All participants included in the study answered questions about the use of social networks in their professional context. Results In total, 264 (91.7%) of the 288 participants reported using social networks for professional practice. Instagram was the social network most often used by professionals (224/264, 84.8%). Dietitians (N=288) related to the use of social networks (always to almost always) for sharing information about their services (n=114-72 [39.6%-25%], respectively), following the work of other dietitians (n=172-64 [59.7%-22.2%], respectively), and writing about topics related to food and nutrition (n=166-53 [57.6%-18.4%], respectively). The roles played by social networks in the professional context of dietitians were attracting more clients (210/289, 72.7%) and keeping in touch with them (195/289, 67.5%). Furthermore, 227 (78.5%) of the 289 dietitians strongly agreed that social networks are good tools to promote their services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, 216 (74.7%) of the 289 participants noticed changes in their behavior, feelings, or beliefs on the use of social networks related to professional practice, and 149 (51.6%) have increased the frequency of sharing information about nutrition and health in general on social networks. Conclusions The main roles of social networks in the professional context of dietitians are to attract clients and to facilitate the contact between professional and client. The modes of use reported by the professionals included sharing information about their services, following the work of professional colleagues, and writing about topics related to nutrition. Most of them reported believing that social networks are an effective way to disseminate their services. Moreover, most professionals claimed to have noticed changes in their behaviors or beliefs on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purpose – Researchers and administrators have struggled to fully understand the value of library human resources for decades. There are many approaches to counting the activities of library staffs, but less is understood about the value of developing and maintaining relationships. Given the growing importance of engagement-focussed, expertise-based service models in research libraries, the failure of library assessment models to account for the relational value of librarian activities is problematic in justifying and incentivizing new strategic activities and understanding the importance of libraries’ relationships with users and other stakeholders. The social network perspectives now commonplace in organizational studies to provide relational and contextual understandings of organizational behavior could be applied to library performance measurement and evaluation, providing a fuller picture of library impact. The purpose of this paper is to address this conceptual gap in the evaluation of library services. Design/methodology/approach – The first part of the paper will present a content analysis of recent literature on emerging service models in academic libraries to identify relational aspects of the models. The relational elements will then be mapped to major concepts and methods from the social network analysis literature. This will include, as appropriate, basic network properties such as transactional content (e.g. exchange of power, services, etc.) of the relationship, nature (e.g. intensity, reciprocity, embeddedness) of the relationship, and structural characteristics of library networks. It will also identify more advanced areas of analysis such as the development of social capital, diffusion of innovations and contagion, and the role of networks in providing access to organizational resources. After mapping relational elements of emerging library service models to social network theory, a research agenda for better understanding library social networks and their value will be proposed. Findings – Social network theory offers a rich conceptual and methodological framework for understanding the relational value of library services, particularly in emerging engagement-centered views of librarianship. Although activity- and outcome-based models of assessment are still important in the assessment of library activities, a social network view of library relationships is an essential complement in providing a more complete view of library value and will complement other work in this area such as human capital valuation and the relational capital components of the values scorecard. Originality/value – This paper presents a unique theoretical and methodological viewpoint on the assessment of library services. This will contribute to the understanding of a vexing problem in library assessment, the value of library human resources, by providing a framework for the measurement and evaluation of relational aspects of librarianship that are often viewed as intangible and unmeasurable.

This paper investigates the associations between social relationships, age and the use of preventive health services among German adults. Data stem from the German Ageing Survey (10,324 respondents). The use of preventive health services was assessed by asking for regular use of flu vaccination and cancer screening in the past years. Predictors of interest were structural (having a partner, size of the social network) and functional aspects of social relationships (perceived informational support) and age. Logistic regression models were used to measure the associations between preventive health services use and these predictors. Self-perceived health, gender and education were considered as covariates. Having a partner (OR = 1.20, 95% CI: 1.07–1.34) and perceived informational support (OR = 1.38, 95% CI: 1.13–1.69) were associated with a higher probability of getting flu vaccination regularly over the past years. Informational support (OR = 1.42, 95% CI: 1.17–1.72) and having a partner (OR = 1.57, 95% CI: 1.41–1.75) were positively associated with regular cancer screening over the past years. Associations between the size of the social network and use of preventive health services were not statistically significant. Associations between the use of preventive health services and social relationships varied by age. Structural and functional aspects of social relationships may support preventive health behavior. To increase preventive health behavior and the use of preventive health services, it is necessary to integrate information on social relationships into routine care and to strengthen sources of social support.

In the conditions of virtualization of economic relations, the subjects of the insurance market can not stay away from these processes, so in order to improve the quality and level of availability of insurance services it is necessary to spread internet technologies in insurance. The main incentive for the introduction of Internet services by insurance companies is the need to reduce costs, expanding the geography of activities, ensuring diversification of risks. No less important factors are simplicity and comfort of on-line purchase of insurance product. The Ukrainian insurance market is at the stage of development and formation, having a number of problems and uncertainties. Therefore, its further information and technological development should receive priority in the economic and social aspects of government policy, taking into account its European integration guidelines. The article deals with the concept of Internet insurance. It is established that the approaches of scientists to the disclosure of the content of the concept of "Internet insurance" have differences. However, they converge on the definition of the Internet insurance as a process of interaction between the insurance representative and the insurer, connected with the provision of insurance services by the insurer, their service, performance of insurance payments in case of occurrence of an insured event due to the use of Internet technologies. The main advantages and disadvantages of online insurance are presented. The list of main advantages includes: simplification of the insurance process, efficiency of registration, simplicity and universality of payment methods, minimization of "human" factor, automation of calculation of the sum insured and tariffs with the help of insurance multicalculator. The list of main drawbacks includes: a much smaller number of insurance products are placed on the Internet sites of insurance companies for sale, the need for the client to understand the nuances and subtleties of working with the site of the insurer, set certain options for insurance amounts, which the client can not change. The stages of obtaining the insurance service through the Internet system have been considered, the offer of services by insurance companies of Ukraine "in live" and "on-line" and innovations on the Internet insurance market of Ukraine have been analyzed, the main spectrum of Internet services providing insurance companies in the Internet has been investigated, the number of insurance companies for the last years has been considered in dynamics. For the further development of Internet insurance it is necessary to improve the legal framework on this issue; it is necessary that the sites of insurance companies contain sufficient information content and for the customers a number of opportunities: obtaining true information about the activities of the insurance company and its services; calculation of the cost of the insurance policy with the help of online calculator; filling in an application for insurance; in case of an insured event, the implementation of remote payment of the insurance policy and insurance payments; delivery of the insurance policy to the customers; and delivery of the insurance policy to the customers.

Erosive tooth wear is a multifactorial condition resulting from the loss of mineralized dental structure by chemical, physical and / or mechanical processes, in the absence of microorganisms (biofilm), being modulated by biological, behavioral and occupational factors. The increase in the prevalence of non-carious tooth wear is mainly related to changes in eating habits, lifestyle and behavior in the last three decades, which has been cause for concern by the dental community. Due to the increase in life expectancy, especially in more developed countries, maintaining oral health is essential to improve quality of life and prevent comorbidities, increase self-esteem, in addition to improving chewing, speech and social life. Currently, the diagnosis of erosive tooth wear is based on clinical aspects of the lesions, however, knowing the factors associated with nutrition, occupation and lifestyle are essential to define the risk and the susceptibility of the patient to the development of lesions and indication of preventive measures and control. In view of the increase in its incidence and prevalence in young adults, the dental surgeon must know about its etiology, prevention, and treatment. Still, public policies focused on this issue need to be created and adopted. Thus, this study describes the main etiological, nutritional, behavioral, and social aspects associated with non-carious tooth wear, offering important information regarding treatment and mainly prevention.

Health information systems in most Central American countries fail to produce reliable, timely, representative, and useful information to define target groups and interventions. This situation originated the need to develop new methodologies for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information regarding health and nutrition, as well as health services. For this purpose, between 1985 and 1987, the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP) and the Ministry of Health and Social We/fare of Guatemala jointly implemented a sentinel surveillance subsystem. During this period, 119 rural communities of 1,000 + 250 inhabitants were longitudinally studied in four rounds of surveys. The Institute transferred the methodology and results to the Ministry of Health through INCAP's communication channels: dissemination of information, direct technical assistance, training, and research. The methodology has not been widely used by national health officialis; therefore, it has become necessary to develop operational research to assess the relationship between decision-making and information availability.

In this context, the developers have to select the right data services and might rely, to this purpose, on advanced techniques, based on functional and non-functional data service descriptive features. This paper focuses on this selection task where data service selection may be difficult because the developer has no control on services, and source reputation could be only partially known. Design/methodology/approach The proposed framework and methodology are apt to provide advanced search and ranking techniques by considering: lightweight data service descriptions, in terms of (semantic) tags and technical aspects; previously developed aggregations of data services, to use in the selection process of a service the past experiences with the services when used in similar applications; social relationships between developers (social network) and their credibility evaluations. This paper also discusses some experimental results regarding the plan to expand other experiments to check how developers feel using the approach. Findings In this paper, a data service selection framework that extends and specializes an existing one for Web APIs selection is presented. The revised multi-layered model for data services is discussed and proper metrics relying on it, meant for supporting the selection of data services in a context of Web application design, are introduced. Model and metrics take into account the network of social relationships between developers, to exploit them for estimating the importance that a developer assigns to other developers’ experience. Originality/value This research, with respect to the state of the art, focuses attention on developers’ social networks in an enterprise context, integrating the developers’ credibility assessment and implementing the social network-based data service selection on top of a rich framework based on a multi-perspective model for data services.
