Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBACKGROUND: More than one in ten women get diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Breast cancer is currently the most common type of cancer amongst women. Despite the high incidence the number of women who are declared healthy in recent years, increase. Women with breast cancer experience an altered self-image after diagnosis and treatment which generally creates specific nursing-needs. It is important to handle these impacts of breast cancer since they are strongly connected with life quality. This increases the need of holistic nursing with a quality of life focus. PURPOSE: To highlight the nurse´s supportive role in the care of patients with breast cancer. METHOD: The survey was conducted as a literature review and based on qualitative studies. RESULT: Breast cancer patients at various stages, from diagnosis to after completed treatment express that the nurse has been an important resource throughout the care process. In particular, they emphasize managing information, being supportive and is knowledgeable. The nurse has conveyed emotional support, helped to navigate in the system surrounding the care process, owned skills and knowledge in cancer care and that supplied information. CONSLUSION: The literature review show that nurses in the majority of cases meet patients in their needs for support, information, clinical skills and knowledge of how the system of health care functions. It appears that most patients and their relatives are satisfied with the care and they have trusted the nurses. To be able to provide care with a salutogenic perspective in interest, the patients not only need physical care, they need care with a holistic perspective.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Psychiatric inpatient care as well as the nurse’s role has changed since the beginning of the century. Institutionalization has been replaced by the care and treatment of the patient, which has changed the requirement of trained staff as well as the perception of competence. History seems however continued to affect today’s psychiatric culture, and opportunities for specialist nurses in psychiatric inpatient care to use their specialist expertise seems to be dependent on more than the nurse’s own knowledge and skills. Aim: The aim of the study was to describe how specialist nurses and managers within psychiatric inpatient care views the specialist nurse competence and role. Method: The data were collected through individual semistructured interviews with specialist nurses and managers active in psychiatric inpatient care. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis inspired by Elo and Kyngäs. Data were also divided into an analysis framework inspired by Kings Conceptual system: the personal system, the interpersonal system and the social system. Results: The qualitative analysis resulted in three categories: The specialist nurse depth expertise leads to internal security (personal system), The specialist nurse competence promotes the health of the patient process (interpersonal system) and The specialist nurse competence is not requested by the organization (social system). Discussions: Specialist knowledge was described as internalized in the individual nurse and it was described how specialist knowledge favored the patient’s health process. Specialist nurses described, however, that they were not given the mandate they needed to implement their in-depth expertise of inpatient care. The nurses expressed that the manager had to ask for specialist knowledge and confirm them in their role. Lack of ability to influence may be one reason that specialist nurses do not stay in inpatient care. This needs to be studied further and discussed within clinical practice.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Reports of child abuse have increased recently and healthcare staff are obligated by law to report any possible suspicion of child maltreatment to the Social Services. There are a lot of risk factors involved concerning whether a child will be abused or not, factors related to the perpetrators but also factors related to the child itself. Statistically the majority of perpetrators are the child's own parents. Aim: To describe the registered nurses experiences of child abuse within healthcare and also to describe one methodological aspect of the articles that this study is based upon. Method: A descriptive literature review based on nine qualitative and three quantitative articles, where the participating registered nurses have experience of children that have been abused. Results: It was found that the nurse’s own personal experiences, based upon their own feelings, the support they received and the actual environment affects how and indeed if child abuse will be reported. Although the registered nurses were aware that they are obliged to report all cases, some nurses failed to report child abuse to the Social Services. The nurses experienced a variety of emotions that arose when they were involved in child abuse cases. All nurses in this study experienced that they lacked knowledge concerning child abuse also a lot of nurses wished that they had had more support during child abuse cases. Conclusion: The experience of child abuse cases severely affected the nurses even to the extent that some ignored the signs and failed to report to the Social Services. The registered nurses experienced a need for more support from an experienced colleague and wanted to attain more knowledge and experience themselves.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Tobacco is the single largest lifestyle factor leading to a bad health. That smoking is harmful and leads to many serious diseases are known among most people. Despite this 10% of the Swedish population and about one out of ten nurses at the hospital still smoke daily. Nurses are supposed to be role models and play a key role in tobacco use prevention. The patient’s time at the hospital is therefore seen as a good opportunity to raise the question about tobacco cessation. Nurses who smoke are proven to be less likely to provide advice and help these patients stop using tobacco, which is opposing the nurses tasks, to promote health and to prevent illness Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of tobacco among the nursing students at Uppsala university and the students opinion about the use of tobacco as professional nurses. Method: A quantitative method was chosen because of the large number of people that would be examined and as study specific questionnaire was sent out to a total of 632 nursing students. Results: In total 38% of students used tobacco. Among those, 3.1% were daily smokers and 12%used Swedish snus. The students considered nurses as role models for the patient in health. Nurses who used tobacco were seen as poor role models. Conclusion: The daily smoking is declining among the nursing students compared to previous studies on nurses. The students considered nurses as role models for the patients in health and they believe that hospital workers should care about their own health and not use tobacco. A difference was found between the students who used tobacco and those who did not use tobacco. The students who did not use tobacco considered that a nurse who uses tobacco is not a good role model and for the patients and are considered as not as good in giving tobacco cessation advice. The students who used tobacco thought more often that the nurses use of tobacco did not matter for the care he or she gives. At the same time the students who smoke still plan to quit smoking before graduation.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: The school nurse is a part of the student health team with the mission to preserve and promote health, prevent illness, early detection of disease, and reduce the consequences of injury or illness. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how students view the role of the school nurse in a school environment. Method: The chosen research strategy is a qualitative method. A test group of 18 students between the ages of 15 and 18 answered questions by email. The analysis method that was selected allowed relatively free movement between different analytical concepts. The result is presented in three themes. Results: The students in the test group describe confidence in school nurses. The students believe that they can speak freely with the nurse and trust in student/nurse confidentiality. The overall accessibility of the school nurse varies greatly between institutions. The placement of the school nurse’s office is of significance to the students. Two factors that prevent students from seeking help from the school nurse are when teachers do not allow the students to leave the classroom during lessons and during breaks when the line is long or she is not physically present. The test group is very satisfied with the information they received regarding the vaccination and the process around it. The also received information from a health talk that they found valuable. Conclusion: The role of the school nurse is complex. It ranges from being a person the students can trust and talk to, to being an advisor. Accessibility is of great importance to allow a good relationship to be built between the school nurse and students.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Violence against women is a known social problem worldwide and increased by 30 percent in the 2000s'. In 2007, about 27 000 crimes captioned as abuse against women were reported in Sweden and just over 2/3 of these crimes were carried out by a known perpetrator. As a nurse you have a potentially unique and important role in identifying and taking care of women seeking help regarding intimate partner violence. Aim: To describe the role nurses have in the meeting with the abused woman, and how nurses perceive meeting. Method: A descriptive literature review in which 13 scientific papers have been reviewed and compiled. Results: Nursing role is to create a safe environment and support the abused woman. Nurses should use a professional approach and create a relationship where good communication is possible. The nurse often experience frustration in the meeting with the abused woman as it can be difficult to create an open dialogue. Nurses also describe a sense of powerlessness, when the woman chooses to go back to a violent relationship. It is common for nurses, in the meeting with the abused woman, to become emotionally involved. Conclusion: Nurses lack training in screening, treat and care for abused women and need more education in the subject.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: The competence of the specialised nurse is a development of the knowledge and skill obtained in the elementary nursing education. The need for specialised nurses increases but as the work tasks of specialised and general nurses do not differ considerably, this may lead to the specialised nurses leaving the clinical area of work. The requested expertise will then be at risk of disappearing. On these grounds and as a way of clarifying the role of the specialised nurse in psychiatric in-patient care, it is of interest to observe how the specialised nurse is perceived and what the expectations of her competence are. Aim: to describe doctors' conceptions of the competence of the specialised nurse in psychiatric in-patient care. Method: Eight qualitative semi-structured interviews were analysed using a phenomenographic approach. Results: The main findings were summarised in five categories: The role of the specialised nurse is unclear and unseen; The specialised nurse executes special tasks; The specialised nurse possesses in-depth competence; Specialist skill leads to personal development and finally The specialised nurse is an ambassador. Conclusion: There is a need for an increased understanding of the competence of the specialised nurse in psychiatric in-patient care. In order for this to happen a clearer descripton of what it entails to work as a specialised nurse in in-patient care is requested.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Since the 1990s alcoholkonsumtion in Sweden has increased and during the past ten years alcohol-related harm and treatment in hospital have increased as well. To identify and bring up patients' alcohol problems is included in the nurse's assignments but the role in dialogue about alcohol is unclear and many nurses regard themselves as lacking sufficient knowledge and training to do this. Aim: The aim was to illuminate the factors that influence the nurse's dialogue with patients about alcohol. Methods: A literature review based on five qualitative and six quantitative scientific articles was carried out. The search of the articles was conducted in the databases Cinahl Plus with Fulltext, Google Scholar, Medline, Nursing & Allied Health Source. The results of the articles were reviewed and analyzed according to similarities and differences, which led to a compilation with new themes. Results: The analysis lead to five themes with factors in fluencing dialogue about alcohol. Knowledge and education shows that these have a positive effect on whether dialogue takes place and that the majority of all nurses request more knowledge and education. Resources reflect factors which can facilitate or hinder dialogue. The nurse's personal views, describes how these can influence assessment of and attitude towards the patient. The nurse's view of her role in dialogue about alcohol describes that most nurses consider these dialogues to be part of their professional assignment but that they are not always carried out. The last theme, The nurse's feelings, illuminates her own insecurity to dialogue and fear of patients negative reactions. Discussions: The result is further developed with the help of the life-world theory. Reasoning out is made about possible causes for the resource and knowledge gaps that were found. A try to gain a deeper understanding of the nurse's own insecurities, fears and perceptions are made. Work environment important for conversation and advice are highlighted and discussed with support from scientific studies.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Psychiatric nurses has historically oscillated between being responsible of nursing care to be an extended arm to other professionals such as physicians. Studies show that the specialist nurse has a complex competence that according to the nurses is not always highlighted by the organization and often find themselves trapped between patients, other employees and the organization's demands. Specialist nurses in psychiatric care are now becoming scarce and when their role, status and importance appears diffuse, it may be difficult to recruit new nurses to train and remain in psychiatric services. Since very few studies have been carried out in outpatient psychiatric services and management perspective, it was of interest to the matter to ask the views of unit managers with responsibility to hire staff. Aim: To describe unit managers' perceptions and expectations of the specialist nurse's importance and role in psychiatric outpatient services. Method: The study was conducted as an empirical interview study with semi-structured questions that were asked individually to seven unit managers occupied in psychiatric outpatient care. The material was processed with a qualitative content analysis with inductive approach. Results: The result showed the main category "Duties and expectations" with the subcategories Assessments, Coordinating and cooperative role, Drug administration, Development, Flexible responsibilities, Treatment and communication as well as Competence. Discussions: The specialistnurse has many variable roles to enter in psychiatric outpatient care and are expected to use their expertise where it is needed.
Jonasson, Erika. „Sjuksköterskans roll i omvårdnaden av patienter med anorexia nervosa - en litteraturstudie“. Thesis, University of Gävle, Department of Caring Sciences and Sociology, 2007. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hig:diva-253.
The aim of this descriptive literature review was to describe the nurses’ role in the nursing of patients suffering from anorexia nervosa. The search for literature was made in the data bases EBSCO host, PubMed, psycINFO, Blackwell Synergy, Wiley InterScience Journals and Academic Search Elite. The main result of the study was presented in three categories; communication, meeting the patient and nursing measures. Communications was important in different ways. First it was important to be able to communicate with the patient, but the next of kin also played an important role in the nursing and should not be forgotten. To continue developing in the role as a nurse, working with patients suffering from anorexia nervosa, communication with co-workers was important. When meeting patients suffering from anorexia nervosa, seeing the patient with a holistic sight was important. It was also important to be able to overcome difficulties, to build a trust and to have the right personality. The nursing measures brought up were to be able to educate the patient about the disease and to be a support. All these areas brought up in the result were needed to achieve a functioning role as a nurse in the nursing of patients suffering from anorexia nervosa.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleA lot of patients arrives at the emergency department with signs of sepsis. Some deteriorate while being in a ward for the same reason. Sepsis is a serious condition that needs immediate treatment and is often hard to identify. International and national guidelines include timecritical actions but they are directed towards the medical treatment delivered by doctors despite the fact that nurses often are the ones that first get in contact with the patient, both at the emergency department and in the ward. The role of the nurse is briefly explored in research. The aim of this study was therefore to illustrate the experiences of nurses involved in identifying and caring for patients with suspected sepsis. The method used was inductive, through 12 semistructured interviews with nurses at an emergency department and in a general medical ward and the data retrieved was then analyzed using qualitative data analysis. The result showed that nurses see themselves as having responsibility for the identification of patients suffering from sepsis and as being the ones who perform the majority of actions necessary for their timely treatment. Furthermore, they expressed that the process runs smoothtly until the point of ordering antibiotics where a delay often occurs. Another problem identified was the resources necessary for the continious monitoring that septic patients need. In conclusion, guidelines should be directed towards all of the personell involved, based on the big role nurses seem to have for the delivery of care. Ways to achieve good monitoring should be explored.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Nurses should see the human inside the patients. Patients experienced anemotional ambivalence during recovery. If nurses normalized the unwellness and were kind, the patients experienced an eased recovery. It is important for relatives to be involved and informed. They want someone to turn to if they have questions. Nurses should create relationships based on trust, benefiting the care. Aim: To describe the nurse’s role regarding patients’ recovery. Method: A descriptive literature study based on 11 qualitative nursing science articles. Result: Nurses experienced it beneficial for the outcome of the recovery to engage patients. They also experienced that relationships built on trust gave a better outcome to the recovery. Nurses gain knowledge through relatives that otherwise had remained unknown. At the same time, nurses experienced a need to provide emotional support for the relatives. Throughout the recovery, nurses experienced a need to prioritize the time within the care team where they were perceived as team leaders. Conclusion: The nurses’responsibility stretched between patients, relatives, and the care team, to accomplish a successful recovery. Relationships composed a meaningful aspect, that was affected by lack of time.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOverweight and obesity in children is an extensive and accelerating
problem in the western world. The risk factors for overweight are well-
known and well-documented. Focus should lie in the prophylactic work
in order to prevent overweight and obesity in preschool children.
The aim of our study has been to highlight the role of the district
nurse in her/his work to prevent overweight and obesity in preschool
children. The study was carried out through studies as a literature
review. In order to support the parents and taking their circumstances
and conditions into consideration, it was considered very important that
the district nurse paid attention to the view of the parents on the weight
of their child. Parents were considered to have an important role in
giving their children healthy eating habits. The attitude of the district
nurse was relevant as to how she/he treated the overweight and how
she/he tackled the preventive work. Professional practice and training
within the field were important factors in making the district nurse
succeed in her/his work to prevent overweight and obesity in children.
Lack of time and lack of parental commitment and attitude were the
main reasons for limiting the district nurse in her work to prevent
overweight and obesity in children. Personnel within the primary care
should supervise and coordinate health promoting measures in order to
prevent overweight and obesity in children. The district nurse plays a
unique part in influencing the parents very early on in their children’s
life by arranging regular and repeated visits to the child welfare center.
The basis for a successful work by the district nurse is training and the
fact that she is made aware of her own attitudes towards overweight.
More research is imperative to support and develop guidelines for
preventing overweight and obesity in children.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Alzheimer's dementia causes major cognitive changes in the sick's life and behavior and ends with a severe deterioration and loss of all cognitive and motor functions. This means a great stress not only for those who suffer from it but also for relatives who care for them at home. The nurse's leading and health-promoting role is essential for providing support not only for the patient but also for its relatives. Aim: The aim was to illuminate the experiences of relatives in caring for people with Alzheimer's dementia. Method: A literature review was conducted with searches from the databases Academic Search Complete, Cinahl Complete and Nursing & Alliades Health Database. Eight articles were selected after a quality review and the results were analyzed and categorized into main themes. Results: The analysis resulted in three main themes: The importance of family relationships, culture and traditions, which showed that relatives give great importance to the family and provide an insight into the role of caring and how they view the disease from a cultural angle; lack of family support, which shows that relatives sometimes feel abandoned by other family members and that they are not always willing to care for their sick relative; strategies to cope with everyday life, feelings of burden and difficulties, which shows strategies that relatives use to be able to handle their relatives' illness and their own caring role. Discussion: The result was discussed based on Callista Roy's theory of adaptation. The discussion focuses on how relatives who care for a family member with Alzheimer's dementia experience a role shift and how they can restore the balance in life by accepting this change and navigate through it with the help of the nurse's support.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Physical inactivity is one of the main causes of today's illness among the population. There is a lot of evidence showing the positive health effects of physical activity. Physical activity on prescription (PaP) is created for the purpose to promote physical activity as prevention and treatment. Aim: To illuminate how nurses describe their role in physical activity on prescription. Method: The study is a literature review based on collected data from searches at CINAHL and PubMed. Data has been analyzed in five steps. Result: Based on 13 articles a main theme and sub-themes that showed how nurses describe their role was identified. The main theme: Barriers and needs when prescribing PaP – nurse´s role. The nurses described promoting patient participation and managing the patients attitude as important needs. These needs were difficult to meet with the available knowledge. Nurses also described lack of time and a non-supportive leadership as barriers when working with PaP. The following sub-themes were identified: Nurse´s ability to promote patient participation during treatments with PaP, Nurse´s ability to respond to patients attitude to PaP, Nurse´s need of increased knowledge about PaP, Nurse´s experience of lack of time as a barrier when prescribing PaP and Nurse´s need of a supportive leadership during work with PaP. Conclusion: The result of this literature review and previous research shows that in order to increase the implementation of PaP the nurses need to increase their knowledge. Both knowledge about how to promote patient participation but also about PaP. In order to develop the work with PaP nurses also described a need of having a supportive leadership.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBackground: Stroke is one of the most common diseases in Sweden. Those who survive strokes suffer from varying degrees of activity and disabilities., which in turn require rehabilitation. Aim: The purpose of this literature study was to describe patients' experiences of rehabilitation after stroke. Method: The literature study was carried out by searching for a number of articles in Cinahl Complete and PubMed. Results: Stroke sufferers usually had a desire to return to their old life before falling ill. Those who suffer from an extensive stroke can be affected both physically and mentally. The condition lowers the quality of life, independence, and self-esteem. Enthusiasm and positive attitude from rehabilitation staff was described as fundamental to a successful rehabilitation process. With the right support from rehabilitation staff, the patients' cognitive and instrumental functions were improved, and self-esteem was strengthened. Rehabilitation needs to be started as soon as possible to prevent a long-term disability. It should be adapted to the individual's conditions. Conclusion: Patients had shared experiences regarding support, information, participation, and the effect of rehabilitation. It is important that the nurse has an individualized approach based on the patient's conditions. The right support and sensitivity from the care staff contributes to increased participation and that it increases the patient's ability to perform activities during the rehabilitation process. Rehabilitation is needed regardless of living environment and must be of high quality for a positive result.

Physical activity on prescription's a method of reducing inactivity and promoting physical activity, which is based on a patient-centered view, where communication and knowledge about motivation and behavioral change are important components. The aim of this literature study was to investigate the nurses' role in the physical activity of prescription. The result's based on 11 scientific articles, five qualitative and six quantitative, which featured in one main theme; Nurses role and barriers that exist. The subthemes that emerged were; Motivation, Participation, Time, Knowledge and Routines and also External Factors. The nurses' role is to regularly motivate physical activity and to involve patients, and also to protect and promote the health of all people. Lack of time, ignorance and lack of routines indicate great barriers to why nurses doesn't prescribe physical activity on prescription. Furthermore, the patients economy, accessibility, and societies resources for physical activity are highlighted. Nurses' motivational role and the application of physical activity on prescriptions, is something that should be highlighted and clarified in undergraduate nursing education. In addition, healthcare professionals should continue to point out that physical activity can be a complement to medicine.

The aim of the existing study was to describe how school nurses experience the complex of problems about obesity among primary school and middle school children, also to examine which strategies school nurses use to prevent/help these children. Amongst other aims, this study examines how school nurses experience cooperation with parents, teachers and other school nurses within this area. The method used was to interview seven school nurses in primary school and middle school from two school regions in the middle of Sweden. The interviews were recorded on tape and transcribed in verbatim. Sense bearing units were picked out and the material was categorized, which resulted in three main categories with ten subcategorise. The results showed that the seven interviewed school nurses considered that there is a problem with obesity in school children. The school nurses didn’t have any specific strategies to prevent obesity and the guidelines from the school health board were indistinctive, but four of the school nurses were working on preventive strategies on their own hand. All of the school nurses more or less had a strategy for helping obese school children, by meens of talking about nutrition and fysical exercise in health sessions. Four of the school nurses had created their own material. The material was then used to help the children with another way of thinking and change in lifestyle. All seven school nurses considered that a working cooperation with parents, teachers and other school nurses facilitated the work with the obese children.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleUnhealthy lifestyle habits increase the risk of illness and death. Cardiovascular disease, cancer and type-2 diabetes are examples of diseases that can be avoided by making positive lifestyle changes. An important part of the nurse's job is to teach patients how they can change their lifestyle and take responsibility for their own self-care. The purpose of this study was to highlight the nurse's role in patient education with a focus on lifestyle changes. The study was done in the form of a literature review in which the basis for the results consisted of 11 scientific articles. The result showed that the nurse's assessment of the patient's need for knowledge was an important part of the teaching process. Factors of importance for the teaching results were information and the selection of appropriate methodology and model. The nurse's pedagogical approach was another factor that influenced their teaching. The study shows that nurses need to adjust their role based on the patient's needs. It has also been found that there are deficiencies in the nurse's competence in terms of pedagogical and didactic skills. By expanding patient education for nursing and prioritize it in health care, there are profits to be made from both a patient perspective and socioeconomically. More scientific research is needed in the subject of how the practices of planning and implementation of patient education can be improved.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIntroduction: At some point suffer from mental illness is becoming more common, therefore, research in the field is of great importance. Nurses with their specific nursing skills form the largest staff group in psychiatric outpatient care, but the nurse's role in psychiatric outpatient care is limited as described in scientific literature. This includes aspects of the nurse's own role and in relation to other professions in psychiatric outpatient care. Aim: To describe the nurse's perception of their role in psychiatric outpatient care, and the experience of interaction with other professionals in their work. Method: The study was a qualitative, descriptive interview study. Seven nurses working in psychiatric outpatient care were enrolled in the study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Results: A total of 25 categories concerning positive and negative aspects of work as a nurse in outpatient psychiatric care, collaboration between the professions in the team, treatment and appreciation to the nurse's competence and nurses contributory expertise in caring of the patient were created. Conclusion: Nurse's experiences in psychiatric outpatient care are complex and show feelings of heavy workload, an undefined role in inter-professional collaboration and both under-valuation and appreciation of their skills. Though, expression of a contributory caring perspective and a broader view of the patient show views oft the nurse's competence. All this can be related to several factors such as organization, work colleagues and their own perception of their professional role in their work.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleAim: The aim of this study was to describe how psychiatric aides’ understand the competence of specialist nurses in psychiatric care. Methods: In order to analyze this phenomenon, a phenomenographic interview study with qualitative design was carried out. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine psychiatric aides, working in psychiatric in-patient care at the time of the interview. In order to find the variation among the understandings, the transcribed material was processed and analyzed through an analyze method including seven steps. Results: Four categories of understandings were identified: invisible competence, unobvious competence, visible competence and obvious competence. The relationship between these different categories took a hierarchical structure in relation to the degree of which the specialist nurse competence was understood. Conclusions: The understandings of the psychiatric aides expresses the dependence of the specialist nurse's competence while at the same time one cannot see how it distinguishes itself from the psychiatric aides’ own competence. Areas of the specialist nurse competence that are of great importance for the psychiatric aides and complement their competence are especially valued, such as: the specialist nurse’s leadership, ability to cooperate, somatic knowledge and overall knowledge of psychiatry.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe aim of this study was to describe how health care assistants and registered nurses perceive their own and each other’s work roles and also how they perceived registered nurses role as a leader. A qualitative descriptive design was used. The used method was semi-structured, topic-focused interviews that were analyzed through qualitative content analysis. The result of the study shows that it was difficult to define respectively work role, the general description is that the registered nurses responsibility lies within the area of diseases and prevention of illness. The health care assistant’s main responsibility is in the area of basic nursing care and also technical care, but both occupational groups considered preventive work as a shared responsibility and the expectations on respectively occupational group differ. Neither the registered nurses nor the healthcare assistants considered registered nurses as a leader, except in the role of a mentor and the responsibility to increase competence within the healthcare assistants group when needed. But it was found that registered nurse have a natural role as a leader regarding the medical care in specific situations. The conclusions of the study was that the registered nurses has a broader knowledge of the work tasks within the work role of the two professions compared to the health care assistants, the expectations of each other’s responsibilities differ and both groups seem unaware of the leading role that is incorporated in registered nurses responsibility.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleWe have done a social psychological study where we have studied the child health nurses' experiences of meaningful work in child care center. Our purpose of this study is to increase understanding of how the child health clinic nurses go about to feel the work meaningful and feel good at the same time. The results show that the creation of meaning is of great importance for the nurses in their welfare. It shows that the nurses feel meaningfulness in their work when they as a person and as a role support each other and when there is harmony between the two. The nurses feel well and work flows in without effort, the nurses want to help and it´s a part of the role to help and in this way role and person supports each other. There may be conflicts if they do not. Secrecy law is an example of something that may prevent nurses from helping and the law contributes to a conflict between the nurses’ personality and their role. Such conflict can lead to the nurses do not feel well and they can become emotionally involved so that they feel confused and frustrated. This means that they cannot find a meaning in what they do. The work is perceived as heavy and useless and they feel that they cannot help parents who are investigated when they do not know why they are being investigated. Harmony occurs sometimes by itself and sometimes the nurses try themselves to achieve this harmony in different ways. A nurse socializes with friends, others develop their knowledge etc.

It appears that a large part of the people's problems arise due to lack of knowledge about the disease. This means that the affected people are having difficulty managing their daily life and are worried about the future. Patients need to get good information and personalized support to raise KASAM, to develop their own strategies and manage the disease in a better way.
