ISO19156 Observations and Measurements (O&M) provides a standardised framework for organising information about the collection of information about the environment. Here we describe the implementation of a specialisation of O&M for environmental data, the Metadata Objects for Linking Environmental Sciences (MOLES3).MOLES3 provides support for organising information about data, and for user navigation around data holdings. The implementation described here, “CEDA-MOLES”, also supports data management functions for the Centre for Environmental Data Archival, CEDA. The previous iteration of MOLES (MOLES2) saw active use over five years, being replaced by CEDA-MOLES in late 2014. During that period important lessons were learnt both about the information needed, as well as how to design and maintain the necessary information systems. In this paper we review the problems encountered in MOLES2; how and why CEDA-MOLES was developed and engineered; the migration of information holdings from MOLES2 to CEDA-MOLES; and, finally, provide an early assessment of MOLES3 (as implemented in CEDA-MOLES) and its limitations.Key drivers for the MOLES3 development included the necessity for improved data provenance, for further structured information to support ISO19115 discovery metadata export (for EU INSPIRE compliance), and to provide appropriate fixed landing pages for Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) in the presence of evolving datasets. Key lessons learned included the importance of minimising information structure in free text fields, and the necessity to support as much agility in the information infrastructure as possible without compromising on maintainability both by those using the systems internally and externally (e.g. citing in to the information infrastructure), and those responsible for the systems themselves. The migration itself needed to ensure continuity of service and traceability of archived assets.

El Císter va sorgir contraposat a la riquesa, la complexitat de la vida, la solemnitat litúrgica i l'esplendor de Cluny. Els cistercencs cerquen una vida més austera i fidel a la Regla de Sant Benet. Es un intent de tomar a les fonts i a la simplicitat de la Regla portant una vida senzilla caracteritzada per l'austeritat. La Regla fot abraçada per diverses comunitats, però no va ser fins al s. XI que sant Benet d'Aniana li dóna l'impuls definitiu. Des d'aquest instant ja es pot parlar d'orde benedictí pròpiament dit. D'aquest en sorgiren dues branques: la primera neix al monestir de Cluny i la segona a Citeaux, la qual donarà origen a l'orde del Císter. La primera edificació cistercenca és de l'any 1099.

In his Théorie de l’information et perception esthétique (1958), the sociologist of culture Abraham Moles (1920–92) set out to demonstrate the applicability of information theory—a mathematical linchpin of cybernetics—to the arts more generally. Moles drew on classical psychophysics, Gestalt psychology, more modern behavioral psychology, and contemporary psychoacoustic research to advocate a cybernetic model of the perception and creation of art. Moles repeatedly returned to musical examples therein to make his case, leveraging his dual expertise in philosophy and electroacoustics, drawing on formative experiences with Pierre Schaeffer in Paris and Hermann Scherchen at his Gravesano studio. Moles’s interdisciplinary text found many attentive readers across Europe and, following an English translation by the precocious Joel E. Cohen (1966), the Anglophone academic world, but it was valued more as an inspiration for the burgeoning area of “information aesthetics” than as a source of hard scientific evidence. Drawing lightly on positions in the history and philosophy of science articulated by Gaston Bachelard (who supervised Moles’s second PhD, in philosophy) and Hans-Jörg Rheinberger suggests a change of emphasis away from its apparent scientific infelicities and toward Moles’s use of sound-studio technique, which is described with reference to the technologies available to Moles in the years leading up to the publication of the Théorie. Moles manipulated and processed sound recordings—filtering, clipping, and reversing them—in his attempts to empirically estimate the relative proportions of semantic and aesthetic information in speech and music. Moles’s text, when understood in tandem with the traces of his practical experiments in the sound studio, appears as an influential and occasionally prescient exposition of the many possible applications of the principles of information theory to the production, perception, and consumption of sound culture that makes ready use of the latest technical innovations in the media environment of its time.

Subjects were 30 white men who denied that they were child molesters at the time of arrest and were court ordered to have a psychological evaluation as part of the pre-sentencing. The Multiphasic Sex Inventory was administered to the subjects during the initial interview and later in therapy sessions they did admit to the offense. When scores for the group were compared with scores for a pretreatment child-molester group ( n=140) in a study cited in the manual, the difference was significant on the Child Molest Lie Scale. Implications are discussed.

Intestinal symbiotic bacteria have played an important role in the digestion, immunity detoxification, mating, and reproduction of insects during long-term coevolution. The oriental fruit moth, Grapholita molesta, is an important fruit tree pest worldwide. However, the composition of the G. molesta microbial community, especially of the gut microbiome, remains unclear. To explore the differences of gut microbiota of G. molesta when reared on different host plants, we determined the gut bacterial structure when G. molesta was transferred from an artificial diet to different host plants (apples, peaches, nectarines, crisp pears, plums, peach shoots) by amplicon sequencing technology. The results showed that Proteobacteria and Firmicutes are dominant in the gut microbiota of G. molesta. Plum-feeding G. molesta had the highest richness and diversity of gut microbiota, while apple-feeding G. molesta had the lowest. PCoA and PERMANOVA analysis revealed that there were significant differences in the gut microbiota structure of G. molesta on different diets. PICRUSt2 analysis indicated that most of the functional prediction pathways were concentrated in metabolic and cellular processes. Our results confirmed that gut bacterial communities of G. molesta can be influenced by host diets and may play an important role in host adaptation.

Open pit mining is a mining system that is commonly applied to coal extraction activities. Environmental problems in coal mining activities are generally related to acid mine drainage (AMD). Efforts to overcome the impact of AMD can be done by phytoremediation in constructed wetlands (CW). Plants that have the potential for AMD phytoremediation include Pistia stratiotes L (water lettuce) and Salvinia molesta Mitchell (giant Salvinia) , so it is necessary to conduct research on the effectiveness of the combination of P. stratiotes and S. molesta to be developed on CW vegetation. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), with 3 treatments using P. Stratiotes, S. Molesta, Combination of P. stratiotes and S. molesta each 9 replications. The results showed the effectiveness of phytoremediation using plant vegetation of P. stratiotes and S. molesta in increasing pH by 40.04% and reducing sulfate levels by 41.72%. The effectiveness of the combination of P. stratiotes and S. molesta in reducing levels of Mn and Fe were 101.36% and 93.49%, respectively. The decrease in TSS levels is better done by the combination of P. stratiotes and S. Molesta vegetation compared to P. stratiotes or S. Molesta vegetation alone, but the better growth rate occurred in S. molesta vegetation only.

The material used was 100 broiler chickens unsexied 15 days old with an average a body weight of 500 ± 6.99g. Ration treatment consisted of T0 (ration without Salvinia molesta leaf meal); T1 (ration with Salvinia molesta leaf meal 6 % ); T2 (ration with Salvinia molesta leaf meal 12 %); and T3 (ration with Salvinia molesta leaf meal 18 % ). The results of the study showed Salvinia molesta leaf meal in the ration of broiler chickens affect (P&lt; 0.05) body weight. Treatment T1,T2 and T3 showed decreases compared with the control diet (T0). Abdominal fat percentage showed no significant differences (P &lt;0.05). Increase in LDL from control to treatment and decrease HDL were found in this experiment. The conclusion states that the provision of Salvinia molesta flour up to 18 % decreased the live weight of broiler, but did not decrease abdominal fat percentage. Shallots are vegetables that have high economic value. Shallots market demand in Indonesia increase over years in order to fulfil national consumption and exports. It is necessary to increase production by cultivating shallots in Utisol dry land which has low fertility and limited water availability. The fertilization with Salvinia molesta compost is an effort to increase the production and productivity of shallots in Ultisol dry land. This study aims were to investigated the effect of Salvinia molesta compost on the growth and yield of shallots, and to obtain the highest yield of Salvinia molesta compost. The study used a randomized block design (RAK) with one factor, the dose of Salvinia molesta compost were 0 ; 5; 10 ; 15 ; 20 ; and 25 tons ha-1. Each treatment was repeated four times. Salvinia molesta compost has no effect on growth, but is able to increase the yield of shallots. The dose of Salvinia molesta compost of 25 tons ha-1 resulted in the highest shallot bulb weight of 589.07 g m-2 (equivalent to 5.89 tons ha-1) an increase of 253.77% compared to the dose of 0 tons ha-1 (without Salvinia molesta compost). Addition of Salvinia molesta compost up to a dose of 25 tons ha-1 still continues to increase tuber yields per m2.Keywords: organic matter, shallots, production

Materi yang digunakan adalah daging komposit (campuran dada,paha, dan sayap) dan hati yang diperoleh ayam broiler jantan strain Lohman yang dipelihara selama 6 minggu di kandanglitter Fakultas Peternakan dan Pertanian,Universitas Diponegoro. Analisis Pb dan Cd dengan perangkat AAS. Ayam broilerdiberi 4 macam pakan, yaitu TO (tanpa tepung daun S. molesta), T 1 (6% tepung daun S. molesta), T2 (12% tepung daun S.molesta), dan T3 (18% tepung daun S. molesta), ulangan 2 kali untuk masing-masing perlakuan. Data kandungan Pb danCd pada daging dan hati ayam broiler, dianalisis secara deskriptif dan dibandingklan dengan standar ambang batas yangditetapkan oleh Pemerintah Indonesia dan WHO. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daging dan hati ayam broilerLohman jantan yang diberi pakan tepung daun S. molesta sebagai pakan campuran, mengandung Pb dan Cd, meskipunmasih di bawah ambang batas. Semakin banyak tepung daun S. molesta yang diberikan sebagai pakan campuran, kandungPb dan Cd cenderung semakin meningkat. Simpulan penelitian ini, semakin banyak tepung daun S. molesta yang diberikansebagai pakan, kandunga Pb dan Cd semakin meningkat pula.

Experimental research aims to determine the influence of mixed feed S. Molesta with different composition on the growth of Clarias Sp. The treatment carried out on this study included 3 different compositions of the S. Molesta flour is treatment A composition of the addition of S. Molesta is different from 20.62 grams (to reach A protein 30%), B treatment of S. Molesta composition given at 13.34 grams (to achieve protein 40%), and the treatment C composition of S. Molesta of 6, 05 gram (to reach protein 50%) and control (feeding factory F782). From the results of the study showed that the influence of artificial feed S. Molesta is best at treatment A and the lowest at the treatment of C. Based on research conducted the average weight increase Clarias SP is in the treatment of A 0.781 grams and the most significant increase in the length of the average in treatment A (30% protein) increased by 0.433 cm. Friedman test results show there is a difference in weight and length Clarias sp which is given the treatment of feed A, B and C and feed the plant (P > 0.05). The conclusion of the study was the influence of the feed mix S. Molesta to Growth Clarias SP age enlargement.

Abstract Grapholita molesta is one of the most important fruit pests worldwide. Abamectin is a biological pesticide frequently used to control fruit borers like G. molesta in part owing to its translaminar properties. In this study, we characterized the toxicity of abamectin to G. molesta larvae using the diet incorporation method. The sublethal effects of abamectin on the development, reproduction, detoxification enzyme activity, and related gene expression of G. molesta were assessed. The results showed that the LC20 and LC50 values of the insecticide against G. molesta 72 h post-treatment were 1.17 mg L–1 and 5.85 mg L–1, whereas the LC20 and LC50 values 96 h post-treatment were 0.34 mg L–1 and 3.63 mg L–1. When compared to the control, sublethal concentrations of abamectin 1) significantly increased the mortality of the larvae, prepupae, and pupae of G. molesta, 2) prolonged the duration of 3rd to 5th instar larva, prepupal and pupal periods, 3) shortened the longevity of adults, and 4) reduced female fecundity. The enzymatic activity of glutathione S-transferase (GST) varied significantly after exposure to sublethal concentrations of abamectin, but the cytochrome P450 monooxygenases and carboxylesterase activity were not significantly affected. Thirteen of the 25 GST genes were significantly upregulated under different sublethal concentrations of abamectin. The combined findings increase our understanding of the effects of abamectin on G. molesta and the potential role of GSTs in the metabolic interactions of abamectin in this pest, and have applications for more rational and effective use of abamectin to control G. molesta.

Grapholita molesta (Busck) is a major pest in orchards of apple, peach, and plum. For better rearing in the laboratory, we compared the life history characteristics of G. molesta by providing larvae with either punctured or unpunctured apple fruits. The development time of immatures and the fecundity of adult females were similar between punctured and unpunctured apples. However, the overall survival rate of G. molesta (larvae to adult emergence) was 1.7 times higher on punctured apples than unpunctured ones, resulting in a higher intrinsic rate of population increase. Therefore, punctured apples would be a better food source for rearing of G. molesta.

Oriental fruit moth, Grapholita molesta (Busck) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), a cosmopolitan pest of tree fruits, has been a significant pest in the United States since its introduction in the early 20th Century. Grapholita molesta historically has been a major pest of stone fruit. However, since the mid to late 1990s, outbreaks in commercial apple orchards in the eastern United States have become common place. This study examined the effects of larval host (e.g., apple vs. peach) on G. molesta reproduction, as a means to better understand the increased importance of G. molesta as an apple pest in the midAtlantic region. In laboratory investigations, G. molesta adults reared on apple fruit had approximately 2-fold higher fecundity than those reared on peach (F = 10.98; df = 3,101; P &lt; 0.001). In two separate studies, when larvae were reared under either crowded or noncrowded feeding conditions, female adult longevity and oviposition period were significantly greater among moths reared as larvae on apple than those reared on peach (2001: P = 0.019 and 0.009, respectively; 2002: P = 0.031 and 0.001, respectively). Female pupal weight was significantly higher in individuals reared on apple than those reared on peach, in both studies (2001 and 2002: P &lt; 0.001). Similar host-influenced impacts on G. molesta reproductive phenomena could affect population dynamics of G. molesta, especially late in the season when apple fruit are a preferred feeding site.

Salvinia molesta D.S. Mitchell (Salviniaceae) is a damaging free-floating invasive alien macrophyte native to South America. The biological control programme against S. molesta by the weevil Cyrtobagous salviniae Calder and Sands (Erirhinidae) has been successful in controlling S. molesta infestations in the introduced range, however, there is some debate as to how biological control success is measured. This study measured the response of epilithic algae and aquatic macroinvertebrate communities in a S. molesta-dominated state and subsequently where the weed had been cleared by biological control, as a proxy for ecosystem recovery in a before–after control–impact mesocosm experiment. The restored treatment (S. molesta and C. salviniae) demonstrated epilithic algae and aquatic macroinvertebrate recovery during the “after” biological control phase, defined as similar to the control treatment. Comparatively, the impacted treatment (100% S. molesta) showed a drastic decline in biodiversity and shifts in community assemblages. We conclude that the biological control effort by C. salviniae facilitated biodiversity recovery of the impacted treatment. Furthermore, epilithic algae and aquatic macroinvertebrate communities were reliable biological indicators for measuring ecological impacts of invasion and ecosystem recovery following biological control, and thus represent potential tools for evaluating biological control success and ecological restoration.

Grapholita molesta, the oriental fruit moth, is a serious pest of fruit trees with host transfer characteristics worldwide. The gut microbiota, which plays a crucial part in insect physiology and ecology, can be influenced by many elements, such as antibiotics, temperature, diet, and species. However, the effects of antibiotics on G. molesta gut microbiota are still unclear. In this study, we selected five common antibiotic agents to test the inhibition of G. molesta gut microbiota, and found ciprofloxacin shown the best antibacterial activity. After feeding 1 μg/mL of ciprofloxacin, the relative abundance of Actinobacteria and Cyanobacteria decreased significantly, while that of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes increased. PICRUSt2 analysis indicated that most functional prediction categories were enriched in the G. molesta gut, including amino acid transport and metabolism, translation, ribosomal structure and biogenesis, carbohydrate transport and metabolism, transcription, cell wall/membrane/envelope biogenesis, and energy production and conversion. Finally, ciprofloxacin feeding significantly affected larval growth, development, and reproduction, resulting in prolonged larval development duration, shortened adult longevity, and significantly decreased single female oviposition and egg hatchability. In addition, we isolated and purified some culturable bacteria belonging to Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, and cellulase-producing bacteria from the G. molesta midgut. In brief, our results demonstrate that antibiotics can have an impact on G. molesta gut bacterial communities, which is beneficial for host growth and development, as well as helping female adults produce more fertile eggs. These results will thus provide a theoretical reference for developing new green control technology for G. molesta.

One hundred broiler CP 707 day-old unsexed chicks, with an average body weight 502,48± 6,99 g age 15 until 42 days. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications and each replication consisted of 5 chickens.. The treatments diets were T0 (basal diet), T1 (6% Salvinia molesta leaves meal), T2 (12% Salvinia molesta leaves meal), and T3 (18% Salvinia molesta leaves meal). The results showed that administration of Salvinia molesta leaf meal up to 18% level in the diet resulted in a decrease in the quality of the ration so that the protein utilization also decreased as indicated by the decline in the value of protein intake, protein intake, protein mass of meat and protein efficiency ratio.
