Engineering analysis of module-populated printed circuit cards subjected to torsion is pursued by approximate engineering analysis, numerical (finite element), and experimental means. The engineering theory utilizes a simplified method of evaluating the torsional stiffness and maximum lead force, the latter found at the module corners. Finite element methods are used to check these values for circuit cards with a wide variety of module configurations, starting from a single-module to sixteen PLCC modules, having 44, 68, and 84 J-leads. An experimental torsion apparatus is used to obtain data for further comparison with the former approaches, and for getting data from the geometrically nonlinear (large deflection) range.

In the article possibilities of increase of speed for solving a certain class of problems with the help of a profit center created in NIIVK named after М. А. Kartsev. As such capabilities are considered video cards and an optical module InLight256, the dimensions of which allow it to be included in the structure of the profit center. As an example of the use of video cards to improve the speed of implementation of algorithms, an algorithm is considered for finding the shortest coverings of Boolean matrices and further use of the results of this algorithm to find the minimal forms of weakly defined Boolean functions. The article shows that the use of a video card for the class of problems under consideration makes it possible to obtain a gain in time several times. The optical module InLight256, developed by the Israeli company Lenslet, is currently the only optical processor that is commercially available, which can be purchased. The module is equipped with software and is compatible with modern electronic modules. The article lists the advantages of optical modules in comparison with electronic modules and the main characteristics of the above module. In addition, the possible areas of application of the module for both peaceful purposes and military are indicated.

Abstract In this paper, we present a proposal of a new internal structure for NetFPGA cards and its analysis. We propose to use a switching fabric instead of a single pipeline. Such a change complicates some modules and connects several of them into a single, more complicated module. Their functionality is the same, but the delay of the served Ethernet frame will be decreased.

Servers are required to monitor the health of the various I/O cards connected to it to alert the required personnel to service these cards. The Data Collection Unit (DCU) is responsible for detecting the I/O cards, sending their inventory as well as monitoring their health. Currently, the keys required to detect these I/O cards are manually coded into the source code. Such a task is highly laborious and time-consuming. To eliminate this manual work, a Software Pluggable Module was devised which would read the I/O card-related information from the I/O component list. This software design aims at using Data Science and OOPS concepts to automate certain tasks on server systems. The proposed methodology is implemented on a Linux system. The software design is modular in nature and extensible to accommodate future requirements. Such an automation framework can be used to track information maintained in Excel Spreadsheets and access them using an Application Programming Interface (API).

This paper explores some design factors, including wireability, of packages in which the number of I/O per module to be interconnected varies widely. This is of interest because it is common for memory card designs and for work station and personal computer printed circuit designs. Memory cards often have a few relatively high pin count control logic modules supporting many low pin count array modules. Work station and personal computer cards often use low density “glue” logic modules with a few microprocessor modules and their high function supports. Printed circuit cost and performance factors are examined by example. Differences between area array and perimeter escape components and leverage possibilities of multi-chip modules are examined. A background tutorial on wireability analysis is given. The algorithm used was developed by Wadie Mikhail several years ago. Analyses are based on the length of wire paths available in a given design, the length of wire needed and the utilizations of the available paths. Utilization guidelines are suggested. Alternative wireability algorithms are identified and briefly discussed. Although the examples are given for cases of modules on cards, the methodologies and general conclusions are valid at other packaging levels; for example, for chips on multi-chip modules.

The article presents the structure and operation of the developed system for graphic personalisation of cards and paper sheets. The system is responsible for the input of unique graphics in the form of prints corresponding with suitable data recorded in the memory of a microprocessor. In the verification process, an electronic record is compared with alphanumerical information, and the conformity of digital graphics with the print is checked. The system was used in the construction of a process line for producing RFID-secured documents. The system has a modular structure and is composed of two modules responsible for the prints and automatic verification of graphic personalisation. The printing module enables the application of the print in the form of alphanumerical signs or unique graphic symbols and a barcode, which is conducted according to the structure of the database from which information on personalisation is obtained. The verification module compares the electronic record from the microprocessor with alphanumerical information and checks whether digital graphics agree with the print. Printing is performed using an inkjet printhead, whereas for the verification process, a digital line scan camera is applied. Mechatronic positioning systems enable the printhead and camera shift freely along the print and inspection area and allow changes in positioning speed parameters.

System security is important in information systems to prevent unauthorized users from accessing data. Login system applies security using encrypted passwords stored on RFID cards. This research designed login security system storing encrypted password using MD5 encryption into the Mifare Tag RFID card and equipped NFC reader to read data from RFID Card. By storing encrypted password characters on RFID cards, login system security is stronger and cannot be traced by unauthorized parties to log into systems. Some stage of system design are through study of literature, designing process flow, system algorithms, designing encryption methods and system interfaces, writing card module coding, card reading module coding, implementation, and system testing. The system login applied by scanning RFID card on the NFC reader, if the password on RFID matches then the user successfully logs into the system. Based on the testing of RFID Tag readings, the maximum distance from the reading of RFID Tag cards is up to 7 cm with a reading range of 00 to 300 with a success rate of 100% authentication. By using RFID Tag cards, increase security for logging into the system, because user cannot log in without having a card with the appropriate password.

By virtue of the rapid development of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), people have owned various devices connected to the Internet to enjoy various emerging application services, such as multimedia related services. IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the integration platform for multimedia application services and provides a rich feature set of converged services in the Next Generation Network (NGN). IMS services are accessed by a user anytime and anywhere through his/her personal self IMS device, e.g., mobile device, equipped with a Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) card. People have owned various devices connected to the Internet at homes or offices. However, some devices can not access IMS services without USIM cards embedded, which is called non-IMS devices. People wish that more devices without USIM cards embedded should be connected to the Internet on which IMS services are accessed in addition to the mobile devices equipped with USIM cards. Accordingly, we propose an Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGi)-based IMS service gateway, in which OSGi technology is the dynamic module system for JAVA. The proposed gateway is authorized by a personal self IMS device such that IMS services are accessed by non-IMS devices, in this paper. Moreover, these non-IMS devices rely on different networks to access technologies and network protocols and the IMS service gateway proposed here adopts the OSGi framework for no problem of integration.

To develop for a yet to be finalized hardware, for cross-discipline interoperability and to achieve fast prototyping, OpenCL as a high-level FPGA synthesis approaches employed to create the sub-modules of FDAS. The FT convolution and the harmonic-summing plus some other minor sub-modules are elements in the FDAS module that have been well-optimized separately before. In this paper, we explore the design space of combining well-optimized designs, dealing with the ensuing need to trade-off and compromise. Pipeline computing is employed to handle multiple input arrays at high speed. The hardware target is to employ multiple high-end FPGAs to process the combined FDAS module. The results show interesting consequences, where the best individual solutions are not necessarily the best solutions for the speed of a pipeline where FPGA resources and memory bandwidth need to be shared. By proposing multiple buffering techniques to the pipeline, the combined FDAS module can achieve up to 2[Formula: see text] speedup over implementations without pipeline computing. We perform an extensive experimental evaluation on multiple high-end FPGA cards hosted in a workstation and compare to a technology comparable mid-range GPU.

Modules attached to circuit cards by peripheral J- and gullwing leads were studied for their behavior under flexure. Three aspects of mechanical behavior were focused upon: the stiffness of the system, the forces arising in the leads, and the fatigue strength of the latter. The effective stiffness of a module-reinforced circuit card was measured experimentally in several configurations (load on card and load-on-module, double-sided and stacked). The leaded attachments were in two parallel rows. Analytical modeling of these tests were performed considering the leads as a continuous elastic foundation connecting the module and the card; test results were corroborated. Experiments were also conducted to establish the elastic and elastoplastic range of lead stiffness in three perpendicular directions: in two shearing planes and axially. The latter was the stiffest and most significant direction, motivating much of the present analysis. For lead force, the analytical procedure yielded values which were confirmed by finite element computation methods described previously by Engel (1990). Fatigue tests were performed on both J- and gullwing leads. Solder joints failed in the former, while lead failures occurred in the latter.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is traditionally prescribed by HIV specialist physicians. Given finite specialist resources, there is a need to scale up PrEP delivery by decentralizing services via other healthcare professionals. We aimed to assess the feasibility of delivering PrEP to men who have sex with men (MSM) through primary care physicians and sexual health clinic nurses. We piloted a multi-component, implementation and dissemination research program to increase provision of PrEP through primary care physicians and sexual health clinic nurses in Toronto, Canada. Community-based organizations (CBOs) provided prospective participants with information cards that contained links to an online module on engaging providers in a conversation about PrEP. In our patient-initiated continuing medical education (PICME) strategy, participants saw their family doctors and gave them the card, which also contained a link to a Continuing Medical Education module. In the nurse-led strategy, participants visited one of two participating clinics to obtain PrEP. We administered an optional online questionnaire to patients and providers at baseline and six months. CBOs distributed 3043 cards. At least 339 men accessed the online module and 196 completed baseline questionnaires. Most (55%) intended to visit nurses while 21% intended to consult their physicians. Among 45 men completing follow-up questionnaires at 6 months, 31% reported bringing cards to their physicians and obtaining PrEP through them; sexual health clinics delivered PrEP to 244 patients. Participants who went through the PICME approach reported no changes in relationships with their providers. Nurses showed fidelity to PrEP prescribing guidelines. Nurse-led PrEP and patient-initiated continuing medical education (PICME) for primary care physicians are feasible strategies to increase PrEP uptake. Nurse-led PrEP delivery was preferred by most patients.

To setup the PC-cluster, two PCs are connected by using PCI interface cards that memory can be shared between the two PCs to ensure high speed data transfer and low latency. A novel mechanism for PC-to-PC communication is proposed. It is realized by a dedicated software processing module called the Cluster Module. Six processing modules have been implemented to realize system operations such as camera calibration, camera synchronization and 3D reconstruction of each target. Multiple spherical objects with the same size are used as the targets to be tracked. Two configurations of them, active and passive, can be used for tracking by the system. The algorithm based on Kalman filter and nearest neighbor searching is developed for multi-object tracking. Two applications have been implemented on the system, which confirm the validity and effectiveness of the developed framework.

AimTo look at how the Yellow Card Scheme is used by health care professionals (HCPs) in child health.MethodsAn online SurveyMonkey questionnaire was devised to look at how healthcare professionals (HCPs) have used the Yellow Card Scheme in clinical practice. It comprised of 10 questions (9 multiple choice and 1 freestyle text). What type of healthcare professional are you? Are you aware of the Yellow Card reporting scheme? Have you ever used the Yellow Card Scheme to report an adverse drug reaction? If yes, how did you make the report? (If no, select N/A) If you haven’t ever reported a reaction, would you know how to? Have you ever completed an e learning module about the Yellow Card Scheme? Are you aware that parents can report adverse drug reactions using the Yellow Card Scheme? Have you ever been aware of an adverse drug reaction but decided not to report it? If yes, what was the reason you chose not to report it? (If no, select N/A) Can you think of any ways to make the Yellow Card Scheme more accessible to healthcare professionals? It was piloted on 5 HCPS and minor textural revisions made. The questionnaire was then undertaken via face-to-face interviews during June 2018.Results50 healthcare professionals completed the questionnaire: 16 doctors, 13 nurses, 8 pharmacists, 9 medical students, 2 nursing students and 2 pharmacy technicians. 43/50 were aware of the Yellow Card Scheme (10 undergraduates and 33 postgraduates). 18 participants had used the Yellow Card whilst 32 had not reported an adverse drug event. Out of the 32 respondents who had never reported a reaction, 13 (7 undergraduates and 6 postgraduates) said that they would not know how to report a reaction if required. Only 9 had completed an online e learning module about the Yellow Card scheme. 30 participants were aware that parents could report using the scheme. 10 participants had been aware of an adverse drug reaction but decided not to report it. The most common reason for this was being too busy. The most common suggestion on how to improve accessibility to the Yellow Card Scheme was the implementation of a mobile phone application.ConclusionMost participants were aware of the Yellow Card scheme although undergraduates less so. Many had reported, although some had chosen not to report because they were: too busy; not being concerned enough; not knowing how to; having forgotten. An app already exists, but awareness of this appears low, as it was the commonest suggestion to aid the low reporting.

We have developed a digital signal processing module for real time processing of time-division multiplexed data from SQUID-coupled transition-edge sensor microcalorimeter arrays. It is a 3U PXI card consisting of a standardized core processor board and a daughter board. Through fiber-optic links on its front panel, the daughter board receives time-division multiplexed data (comprising error and feedback signals) and clocks from the digital-feedback cards developed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. After mixing the error signal with the feedback signal in a field-programmable gate array, the daughter board transmits demultiplexed data to the core processor. Real-time processing in the field-programmable gate array of the core processor board includes pulse detection, pileup inspection, pulse height computation, and histogramming into on-board spectrum memory. Data from up to 128 microcalorimeter pixels can be processed by a single module in real time. Energy spectra, waveform, and run statistics data can be read out in real time through the PCI bus by a host computer at a maximum rate of ~100 MB/s. The module's hardware architecture, mechanism for synchronizing with NIST's digital-feedback, and count rate capability are presented.

We describe the use of microelectromechanical system (MEMS) switches and SiGe logic devices for both passive and active loopback testing of wide data buses at rates up to 6.4 Gbps per signal. Target applications include HyperTransport, fully buffered DIMM, and PCI Express, among others. Recently introduced MEMS devices provide >7 GHz bandwidth in a very small package (needed to handle wide buses). SiGe logic supports >7 Gbps signals when active shaping of the waveform is required. Each loopback module typically supports between 9 and 16 differential channels. Multiple cards are used to handle applications with very wide buses or multiple ports. Passive cards utilize MEMS for switching between the loopback (self-test) mode and traditional automated test equipment (ATE) source/receiver channels. Future active card designs may provide additional waveform-shaping functions, such as buffering, amplitude attenuation/modulation, deskew, delay adjustment, jitter injection, and so forth. The modular approach permits precalibration of the loopback electronics and easy reconfiguration between debug or characterization testing and high-volume production screening.

Nowadays, with the development of ultra-wide band antennas and internet of thing technologies, tracing systems are being developed in many fields such as security, health, mining and transportation. The accuracy location estimation issue is becoming very important in areas of application where occupational health and safety are high. In these applications, the transfer of information between the target and the manager, whose location must be accuracy known, has become indispensable. Especially when the target person is human, the movement parameters such as speed, acceleration, position and altitude compose the calculation parameters of the central management system. The information to be sent by the worker in emergency situations and warnings explain the need for real-time location systems to avoid a possible occupational accident. This paper includes real-time location system structure and improved accuracy location control algorithm, which are being used in occupational health and safety, hospital, storage, mine and tracing areas. The real-time location system was designed using a DWM1000 location sensor module with an ultra-wide band integrated antenna. Product usage time has been extended in designed real-time location cards with low power consuming processors. An accuracy positioning control algorithm has been improved to quickly and exactly locate the target to be tracked. With this algorithm, a new approach to real-time location systems has been introduced and worker tracing, information and warning systems are made with fast response time. The control cards developed in a sample workspace were tested and the application results on the developed computer virtual map interface were given.

Introduction Juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) is a rare and highly aggressive myeloid malignancy of early childhood. Approximately 95% of patients have at least one mutation that leads to hyperactive RAS signaling. Both the presence of multiple mutations at diagnosis as well as altered DNA methylation are associated with a poor prognosis. Whether altered DNA methylation leads to the acquisition of additional genetic mutations or is a secondary event to genetic mutations is unknown. In this study, we analyzed a total of 33 newborn blood screening (NBS) cards from children who went on to develop JMML later in childhood. Using next generation sequencing to detect both genetic mutations and DNA methylation status we sought to determine the sequence of events that lead to the development of JMML. Patients and Methods We identified 33 patients that were born in the state of California from 1990 to 2017 who were confirmed to have JMML and were previously consented to participate in a JMML tissue bank study. Guthrie cards from these 33 patients as well as 12 healthy controls were obtained from the California Biobank Program. DNA samples (20 ng) were sequenced for mutations using a custom amplicon-based sequencing approach (Paragon Genomics, Hayward, CA) targeting 26 genes that are recurrently mutated in JMML. For DNA methylation profiling, 300ng of genomic DNA was processed for bisulfite conversion using the TrueMethyl oxBS Module (Tecan Genomics Inc., Redwood City, CA.) according to manufacturer's guidelines and next generetation sequencing (NGS) libraries were prepared by targeting 3000 CpG loci using custom probes for Targeted Methyl-Seq assay (Tecan Genomics Inc., Redwood City, CA). Sequence reads were trimmed using Cutadapt to remove adapters and methylation status called using Bismark. Samples were classified into one of three methylation subgroups: Low, Intermediate, or High using 1386 probes according to an international consensus definition. Results At diagnosis of JMML, somatic mutations were identified in 32 of 33 patients. Of the 32 patients with a somatic mutation present upon diagnosis, the same mutations were found in NBS cards in 13 (41%) patients using a mutant allele fraction (MAF) cut-off of 1%. Clonal mutations (MAF >15%) were found in 9 of 32 (28%) patients. Patients who had a somatic mutation detected at birth were significantly younger at diagnosis with a median age of 7.1 months (range 2.5-91.6 months) compared to patients who had none (19.8 months; p-value = 0.042). However, no difference was observed in overall or event-free survival for patients with or without somatic mutations at birth. Methylation profiling classified all NBS cards as having "low" DNA methylation using an international, consensus definition (Figure 1A). Of the 33 patients, ten also had DNA methylation profiling performed on their diagnostic JMML sample which were classified as low (LM), intermediate (IM) or high methylation (HM) (Figure 1B). Amongst patients with both NBS and JMML methylation data available, 5 had mutations present in the NBS card and all 5 had lower methylation (β values) in their NBS card compared to their JMML sample (mean 0.38 vs 0.29, p-value = 0.002). Discussion We identified somatic Ras pathway mutations at birth in 13/32 (41%) of newborns that developed JMML later in their childhood. We found that patients with a somatic mutation detected at birth were significantly younger at diagnosis compared to patients who had no mutations at birth. DNA methylation profiling of NBS cards from children who went on to develop JMML revealed methylation signatures that were similar to normal age-matched controls. All newborn cards were classified as low methylation at birth. Specifically, amongst patients who had genetic mutations present at birth, methylation changes that were eventually detected in JMML samples were not present in the NBS cards. Therefore, we conclude that aberrant DNA methylation is a secondary event to genetic changes in JMML. Figure 1: Panel A: Methylation profiling of JMML NBS and control NBS samples, classified according to the international JMML methylation consensus signature. Panel B: Methylation profiling of paired NBS and diagnosis samples from JMML patients. The star indicates the NBS methylation profile. All the resources have been released under Creative Commons licenses and are free to download, adapt and use.ABC LD is now popular across European tertiary education and beyond. Participants have found the workshop-based “sprint” approach to be quick, engaging and productive. The original UCL or “base” ABC LD is built around a collaborative and intensive 90’ workshop in which module teams work together to produce a paper-based storyboard describing the student journey.Over the last two years UCL has led an Erasmus+ project to develop and evaluate the ABC LD method with 12 partners (https://abc-ld.org). We have focused on localisation to institutional contexts and have explored the important link between storyboard designs and the Virtual Learning Environment. The main output is a freely downloadable Toolkit of resources and guides, enabling any college or university to adapt and adopt the method.Although developed to promote blended learning, during the COVID emergency, some institutions have now modified ABC LD to be facilitated remotely to support their need for a rapid transition to online learning. ABC LD is proving an effective method in this new format, too.

The drone noise mainly comes from its rotating blades, providing plentiful information of the status of the drone. In the production line, the abnormal sound detection system has the advantages of no contact and simple deployment and can help to locate the fault products at relatively low costs. Therefore, this paper develops an abnormal drone noise detection system based on the microphone array and self-supervised learning. The microphone array is a part of the data acquisition module to pick up the drone noise. There are eight microphones in the array, forming four differential microphone pairs. Each of them is pointing to a blade of the drone. A four-channel noise sample is recorded and then analyzed. It is worth noting that drone noise samples are extremely unbalanced, because abnormal samples are difficult to encounter. Hence, a self-supervised learning strategy is adopted by creating auxiliary classification tasks to fine tune representations of the normal drone noise samples. With the consideration of low-complexity, the trained neural network models can be finally deployed even on a Raspberry Pi system with no graphic cards.

Introduction / Innovation Concept: Adverse events due to medical error are a significant source of preventable morbidity and mortality in Canada’s emergency departments. Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS) was introduced in 2006 as a strategy to minimize these errors. Although these strategies have been available and widely implemented in hospitals over the last decade, the optimal method of teaching these tools and strategies has not been elucidated. Methods: We endeavoured to introduce a twelve month longitudinal TeamSTEPPS program to physicians, nurses, and allied health care professionals in a busy tertiary care hospital via a multi-pronged approach consisting of group huddles, props in the department, and several social media strategies. Dedicated observers in the emergency department recorded the use of the strategies by staff members to identify improved and sustained use of TeamSTEPPS behaviours after they were introduced. Curriculum, Tool, or Material: The program that consists of five modules to improve patient safety outcomes: Team structure; Leadership; Situation Monitoring; Mutual support; and Communication. Each module consisted of educational tools including posters in the department explaining the concepts, twice weekly department huddles to discuss the importance of the monthly topic and promote team sharing with real life examples, as well as stimulating and generating discussions around the monthly theme on social media (Facebook, Twitter, and an on-line blog). For several modules, extra prompts, such as I PASS the BATON handover cards were also provided to act as reminder visual cues. The first two modules were rolled out with on-line music videos rewritten to promote the significance of the modules. A team performance observation tool was adopted from the TeamSTEPPS program, and behaviors were evaluated and recorded under the five domains. Conclusion: Although unable to detect a meaningful difference in our pre and post-implementation observations, we present a novel approach to educating a multi-disciplinary team about TeamSTEPPS in a busy emergency department, along with the challenges encountered in this unique area of research, and recommendations for further study to interested parties. The TeamSTEPPS program likely could offer as much to the emergency department as similar programs have to the aviation industry yet it requires extensive investigation within this health care venue.

But thousands of people have lost their lives in mining accidents, all over the world working in the earth presents many different security and health dangers. So here we propose a mining tracking as well as safety system for the mining industry using microcontroller based circuit on the worker safety. We use RF based circuitry to detect workers moving through the entire mining site. We used ARDUINO UNO as main micro controller. The system makes use of ATMEGA Microcontroller based RF tracker circuitry used to transmit and receive data by using EM-18 RFID reader module with RFID cards. This helps to track the current location of workers through the entire mining site. Moreover each RFID card circuit is integrated with a panic/emergency button. When this button is pressed it shows an emergency alert over the IOT webpage. This can be used for any emergencies like – toxic gas inhalation, physical injury etc. Thus the system ensures mining worker Safety using IOT.

The world today is being hit by COVID-19. As opposed to fingerprints and ID cards, facial recognition technology can effectively prevent the spread of viruses in public places because it does not require contact with specific sensors. However, people also need to wear masks when entering public places, and masks will greatly affect the accuracy of facial recognition. Accurately performing facial recognition while people wear masks is a great challenge. In order to solve the problem of low facial recognition accuracy with mask wearers during the COVID-19 epidemic, we propose a masked-face recognition algorithm based on large margin cosine loss (MFCosface). Due to insufficient masked-face data for training, we designed a masked-face image generation algorithm based on the detection of the detection of key facial features. The face is detected and aligned through a multi-task cascaded convolutional network; and then we detect the key features of the face and select the mask template for coverage according to the positional information of the key features. Finally, we generate the corresponding masked-face image. Through analysis of the masked-face images, we found that triplet loss is not applicable to our datasets, because the results of online triplet selection contain fewer mask changes, making it difficult for the model to learn the relationship between mask occlusion and feature mapping. We use a large margin cosine loss as the loss function for training, which can map all the feature samples in a feature space with a smaller intra-class distance and a larger inter-class distance. In order to make the model pay more attention to the area that is not covered by the mask, we designed an Att-inception module that combines the Inception-Resnet module and the convolutional block attention module, which increases the weight of any unoccluded area in the feature map, thereby enlarging the unoccluded area’s contribution to the identification process. Experiments on several masked-face datasets have proved that our algorithm greatly improves the accuracy of masked-face recognition, and can accurately perform facial recognition with masked subjects.

Digital transceiver architectures offer the potential for achieving wireless hardware flexibility to frequency and modulation scheme for future-generation communications systems. Additionally, digital transmitters lend themselves to the use of switch-mode power amplifiers, which can have significantly higher efficiency than their linear counterparts. Two proposed architectures for realizing digital transmitters will be described in this work, both of which employ a hybrid combination of silicon integrated circuits (IC) and a power technology (e.g. GaN). This hybrid architecture takes advantage of the silicon to implement the high-complexity signal processing required for wireless communications, and uses power devices with high power density and low parasitic capacitance to sufficiently amplify the RF signals for transmission. Unfortunately, interfacing the low-power RF switching signals with off-chip high-power devices poses numerous design challenges, including: generation of integrated silicon power drivers with sufficient voltage swing for controlling power devices such as GaN, mitigation of on-chip current transients, wideband assembly interface from the silicon IC to the power device, and full system design verification using multiple process technologies. This work presents two CMOS driver architectures that can be used to interface low-power CMOS processing circuits with off-chip high-power devices. This work also details the performance limitations when assembling and interfacing multiple process technologies that are not co-located on the same IC. The main function of the driver circuitry within the digital transceiver system is to interface the low-power digital modulator to a large, high capacitance, off-chip power device. The driver must provide adequate transient current to charge/discharge the off-chip power devices' input capacitance through parasitic routing. Furthermore, the driver is designed to exhibit rise/fall times of less than 5% of the switching period and low jitter to meet RF signal quality requirements. Since silicon process technologies typically have much lower voltage breakdowns than those required to drive a power devie (e.g. GaN device), special driver architectures must be implemented to ensure the CMOS devices never exceed their breakdown voltages. Two architectures were implemented within this work to simultaneously achieve RF switching speeds and 5V signal swing from a 0.9V silicon CMOS process technology. The two architectures are: 1) a House-of-Cards configuration, and 2) a Cascode topology. These architectures will be detailed and compared with respect to performance in this presentation. Two of the most common techniques to assemble and connect a silicon IC, which includes the driver circuitry, and a (GaN) power device are: 1) direct wire bonding or flip-chip connection from the IC to the GaN, and 2) connection through a board or package interface circuit. Since most high-performance RF power devices such as GaN have negative threshold voltage, the driver (CMOS) IC must either: 1) have a supply and ground that are shifted to negative voltage values, or 2) decouple the IC's output from the GaN device's input in order to properly control the GaN. Off-chip decoupling is more easily implemented, but may limit maximum operating frequencies due to the added interface network and board/module parasitics. This work shall detail the interface models and compare the assembly procedures and potential performance limits when using both of these most common assembly techniques.

Nowadays, users collect points by stickers after they purchase products. However, to issue stickers and to exchange points are inconvenient to store staffs and users. In addition, the traditional way for points collection increases the business cost because of additional cards and stickers. In this paper, we propose a novel, practical and integrated application system to resolve above issues namely NFC-enabled Point Collection Application System (NPCAS). NPCAS mainly consists of three subsystems including user-side APP, store-side APP and backend management system. The user-side APP let users to quickly complete points management, for instance, they can accumulate points by communicating with the store-side APP through Near Field Communication (NFC) technique. The store-side APP calculates the points of each transaction and updates them to the backend management system. Then, the users can inquire their current points, exchange details, exchangeable commodities and so on. Android operating system is the mainstream on smart phones so that the Android-based APPs attract a lot of attention. Accordingly, we develop both APPs based on Java, XML, Android Software Development Kit (SDK) and Android Studio. The backend management system is built by Apache server, PHP module, PHP files and MySQL database. The format that we used on information exchange between backend management system and both APPs is JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). In a word, NPCAS greatly simplifies the procedures of points collection and management.

Abstract Land grid array (LGA) sockets are commonly used for industry standard and custom microprocessors to meet the increased performance challenges for a variety of server applications. Along with the need for increased high speed signaling capabilities comes the challenge to support lower voltages and higher currents. Typical testing that is conducted by the LGA socket suppliers does not provide an accurate assessment of the maximum current capabilities in a real product application due to the test card design and construction limitations. Typical test card designs use daisy chain connections to wire multiple LGA socket contacts in series. The daisy chain wiring in the test card adds to the resistive heating and results in an inaccurate maximum current rating. Also, the test cards typically do not have a cross section construction that is representative of a real product application with multiple ground planes that provide improved thermal dissipation of the heat generated by the LGA socket interface. Hardware testing was conducted to better understand the performance limitations for a new product application. The test card was designed to use multiple voltage and ground planes in the circuit card cross section to provide a low impedance path for current flow and a low voltage drop through the LGA socket interface. In addition to the test card construction, the test hardware included a special test module with a shorted chip to provide a more accurate power distribution path through the socket and processor package. The test variables included different plating metallurgy options for the LGA socket and the processor module along with different configurations for the voltage supply and ground return contacts. Electrical and thermal modeling techniques were used to simulate the test hardware configuration with good correlation between the hardware and modeling results. Based on the positive correlation results, additional modeling was conducted to simulate the worst case power mapping conditions for the processor chip along with a more accurate power distribution. The additional modeling results provided further insights into the maximum current capabilities for the LGA socket based on the temperature increase from the resistive heating in the socket contacts.

Purpose – This paper presents an IT system – Student Connectivity Module (SCM) – designed to support administration of student exchange between universities in different countries, developed under the EU seventh Framework Program. The purpose of this paper is to share the acquired knowledge on existing difficulties in mobility management, propose solutions to those problems, and present results of system validation using its prototype deployed at two universities. Design/methodology/approach – Prior to the system design, the needs, plans and expectations concerning the academic IT services were surveyed among 100 universities. On this basis, in close with prospective system users, an original peer-to-peer system was developed using top-down model-driven and agile software development techniques. Findings – The barriers to effective interoperation of academic information systems (AIS) were revealed: first, diversity and heterogeneity of campus IT solutions; second, differences in patterns of international student mobility flow; third, diversity in national personal data protection policies; and fourth, lack of standards for e-data exchange. The SCM system overcomes these problems by adopting platform-independent IT solutions, web-services, a network of trusted authority servers, and a novel “quasi-standard” solution for e-data exchange, with the use of home university campus cards to access facilities at host institutions. Originality/value – The management of foreign student exchange is a complicated process. It involves students, faculty, administrative staff and external institutions. To the authors knowledge, there is no other comprehensive networked IT system available to facilitate administration of student mobility, make it better controlled, less laborious and faster, in a secure way. The IT solution contributes to overcoming the current barriers to academic mobility within Europe and elsewhere.

The article presents the result of work on the creation and implementation of the annual course “Algorithmics for Preschool Children”, which, under the guidance of Academician V. B. Betelin for six years led the Department of Educational Informatics of the SRISA RAS together with the Department of Education of the Administration of the city of Surgut (Western Siberia). Since September 2018, the course has been held in all preparatory groups of all kindergartens in Surgut — more than 6,000 children annually. The educational and methodological kit for the course, including the digital educational environment PiktoMir, is freely distributed and can be downloaded from the SRISA RAS website for use for any purpose, including commercial. The course “Algorithmics for preschoolers” discussed in the article is the first part of the long-term course “The basics of programming for preschoolers and junior schoolchildren” being developed. The course uses a textless programming technique. The child composes a program from pictograms with robot commands, singleletter names of subroutines and pictograms of control structures. At the initial stage of training, a screenless technology for compiling a program from material objects is used. The proposed technology favorably differs from analogues in the world in that when working with PiktoMir, a program in the material world can be composed of material objects freely movable by a child: cards, cubes with printed or hand-drawn command pictograms. Information about each command of the program is extracted exclusively from the image perceived by the child, and not from any machine-readable graphic codes or electrical codes hardwired into the material carrier of the pictogram. The child “photographs” pictograms with his tablet, on which they are recognized using neural networks by a special PiktoMir module.

IntroductionDespite increasing use of mHealth interventions, there remains limited documentation of ‘how and why’ they are used and therefore the explanatory mechanisms behind observed effects on beneficiary health outcomes. We explored ‘how and why’ an mHealth intervention to support clinical decision-making by front-line providers of maternal and neonatal healthcare services in a low-resource setting was used. The intervention consisted of phone calls (voice calls), text messaging (short messaging service (SMS)), internet access (data) and access to emergency obstetric and neonatal protocols via an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD). It was delivered through individual-use and shared facility mobile phones with unique Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards networked in a Closed User Group.MethodsA single case study with multiple embedded subunits of analysis within the context of a cluster randomised controlled trial of the impact of the intervention on neonatal health outcomes in the Eastern Region of Ghana was performed. We quantitatively analysed SIM card activity data for patterns of voice calls, SMS, data and USSD. We conducted key informant interviews and focus group discussions with intervention users and manually analysed the data for themes.ResultsOverall, the phones were predominantly used for voice calls (64%), followed by data (28%), SMS (5%) and USSD (2%), respectively. Over time, use of all intervention components declined. Qualitative analysis showed that individual health worker factors (demographics, personal and work-related needs, perceived timeliness of intervention, tacit knowledge), organisational factors (resource availability, information flow, availability, phone ownership), technological factors (attrition of phones, network quality) and client perception of health worker intervention usage explain the pattern of intervention use observed.ConclusionHow and why the mHealth intervention was used (or not) went beyond the technology itself and was influenced by individual and context-specific factors. These must be taken into account in designing similar interventions to optimise effectiveness.
