Vitis vinifera L. is a specie that is adapted to a very variable range of climates, from cold up to the desert one, but especially it grows in the temperate Mediterranean regions and continental areas of Europe. Grape is a widespread consumed fruit as well as processed to musts, juices or wine. The health beneficial effects of grapes and wine are very well known due to their high nutritional value and unique phytochemical composition. Despite many health protective and beneficial effects of Vitis vinifera, a part of population suffer to allergic reactions to this fruit. Allergens of wine and grapes are: endochitinases, lipid-transfer protein and thaumatin. Thaumatin is a protein having a sweet taste belonging to the PR5-like proteins. These proteins are very difersified in their functions and were described to be involved in stress responses and fruit ripening, but are expressed in healthy grape fruits in a constitutive manner and needn´t to be expressed only as a answer to the stress. Thaumatin is a minor allergen in grape, but belonging to the suspected panallergens relevant to the food cross-allergy induction, its importance is quite high. Another importance of this protein is a technological one, as reported to aggregate in wine to form a visible haze unless removed prior to bottling. In this study, expression of thaumatin-like allergen was analysed in the grapes of selected varieties. Grapes of four red varieties of Vitis vinifera, L. were obtained in the season 2017 in the Sabo winery that belongs to the Malokarpatská wine region. Fresh maturated grapes of varieties Alibernet, Cabernet Sauvignon , Frankovka modrá and Dornfelder were analysed. Expression changes of thaumatin was calculated by delta delta Ct method. Dornfelder was found as to have the lowest activity in thaumatin-like gene activity, mainly when comparing to the Cabernet Sauvignon and Frankovka modrá. Alibernet, on the other side, has the expression level of thaumatin very similar when comparing to the Cabernet Sauvignon and Frankovka modrá.

Research background: The paper is focused on the financial product, esp. on mortgage loans that are often used products in the field of long-term financing in the Czech Republic. These products provide commercial banks and other financial institutions on the Czech globalized financial market. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper is to analyze the situation on the globalized financial market focused on the mortgage loans and loans from building societies in view of the global Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: Firstly a theoretical background with a review of the literature is provided, then research methodology is described, the key part brings results of development of mortgage loans, development of interest rates and the analysis of the current situation on the mortgage loan market with estimation of future development. The last part is focused on the comparison of selected mortgage loans provided by five financial institution. The article is based on primary and secondary sources. A detailed research together with the analysis and critical assessment of accessible materials will enable to identify the main objectives in the field of study. Findings & Value added: Interest rates on mortgage loans have on the Czech market downward trend in the last years. The best conditions scored in 2019 loan from building society Modrá pyramida. The overall situation in 2020 cause lower interest rates in the mortgage loans. Lower annual percentage rate of charge and smaller monthly mortgage loan repayment and the total overpayment also correspond.

A novel wavelet-based denoising technique (MODRA) is introduced and shown to be an effective means of denoising in-band contaminated chaotic sequences. MODRA is compared to existing WaveShrink methods and shown to be a more effective denoising technique based on a mean-squared-error statistic for simulated contaminations. For each case, an estimate of the correlation dimension D2 is calculated to quantify the results. As an integral part of MODRA, a best basis cost functional for the maximum overlap discrete wavelet packet transform using Shannon entropy is also introduced.

Abstract A large-scale test set-up was designed to evaluate the volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions of building materials in a real room situation but under laboratory conditions. Two model rooms (ModR) with a volume of 30 m3 each were constructed of the wood-based building materials X-lam and OSB, respectively. Temperature and relative humidity (RH) inside the ModR were kept in a range of 21°C–25°C and 45%–55% RH. VOCs were collected at 13 different times over a period of 23 weeks, and the total VOC (TVOC) concentration was calculated from GC/MS data. Results were quantified as toluene equivalents (TE). In the X-lam-ModR, the TVOC concentration decreased by 64% over the whole measurement period from 115 to 41 μg m-3 TE. Terpenes were the most abundant substance group and accounted, on average, for 80% of the TVOC concentration. In the OSB-ModR, the TVOC concentration decreased by 72% from 443 to 124 μg m-3 TE. Aldehydes showed the highest concentrations, accounting, on average, for 52% of the TVOC, while 38% were terpenes. The results show that this type of test provides realistic data for the praxis.

Abstract. The 222Rn activity concentration in ground water from four boreholes was investigated from January 2006 to June 2008. The boreholes are situated in the region of the Astronomical and Geophysical Observatory in Modra-Piesok (Little Carpathians Mts., 40 km NW from Bratislava, Slovakia). Three boreholes have been drilled in Lower Triassic quartzite. Another borehole has been drilled in granodiorite of the Modra massif in which the quartzite is folded. Temporal and spatial differences in radon concentration were observed. Significant short-term variations were noticed in all boreholes. Precipitation caused the changes of water level and strongly affected the values of 222Rn activity concentration in less deep boreholes. The measured activities in boreholes ranged approximately over 1–240 kBq/m3.

SHRIMP U-Th-Pb zircon dating of the granitoid massifs in the Malé Karpaty Mountains (Western Carpathians): evidence of Meso-Hercynian successive S- to I-type granitic magmatismRepresentative granitic rock samples from the Malé Karpaty Mountains of the Western Carpathians (Slovakia) were dated by the SHRIMP U-Th-Pb isotope method on zircons. Oscillatory zoned zircons revealed concordant Mississippian magmatic ages: 355±5 Ma in Bratislava granodiorite, and 347±4 Ma in Modra tonalite. The results document nearly synchronous, successive Meso-Hercynian plutonic events from S-type to I-type granites. The Neo-Proterozoic inherited zircon cores (590±13 Ma) were identified in the Bratislava S-type granitic rocks whereas scarce Paleo-Proterozoic inherited zircons (1984±36 Ma) were detected within the Modra I-type tonalites.

In a two-year field experiment we used leaf analysis to evaluate the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi on the content of some macro elements (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) and micro elements (Zn, Mn, Fe) in grapevine leaves at the beginning of softening/veraison of grape berries. The contents of the individual elements differed which was caused both by the different varieties of Rulandské modré (Pinot Noir) and Frankovka (Blaufränkisch), and by the effect of the conditions of the year (2010, 2011), and by the actual treatment of the experiment (untreated control, mycorrhizal /AM/ plants). In 2010 the contents of all the nutrients in leaves of the variety Rulandské modré (Pinot Noir) were optimal with the exception of the contents of Ca and Mg in 2011 and content of K in 2010. In the mycorrhizal plants in both years only calcium increased significantly (3.50 % as against 3.29 % and 1.54 % as against 1.31 %, respectively). The contents of micro elements in the variety Rulandské modré (Pinot Noir) fluctuated irregularly; only the content of Mn was higher in the control treatment in both years. The variety Frankovka (Blaufränkisch) showed a small to great Ca deficit in the leaves in both years; in 2010 also a K deficit and in 2011 a deficit in Mg. The contents of N, K and Mn increased significantly in the mycorrhizal treated plants both in 2010 and in 2011.

Abstract The paper presents the results of an investigation of physical-chemical features of water as well as rotifer and crustacean abundance and diversity measures, relating to the taxonomic richness and species diversity index, in three lobelia lakes differing in trophic status and morphometric features. The main purpose of this study was to establish the diversity of zooplankton communities in the open water area of lobelia lakes, including extracting species common for each lake and also to find environmental predictors which are responsible for the development of zooplankton communities. Despite the fact that the three studied lakes are of the same origin, located in the same vicinity and have generally similar environmental factors, zooplankton community structure revealed a great variation in reference to species diversity (only ca. 20% of the species were common for all lakes) and particularly in inhabiting species. Obrowo Lake had the most diverse assemblages of both rotifers and crustaceans compared to Modre and Pomysko lakes. In the taxonomic structure species that are rare for the Polish fauna, such as e.g. Holopedium gibberum and Heterocope appendiculata, occurred. Even though the examined lobelia lakes are ecosystems that undergo varying human-induced impacts, they still remain taxonomically very variable aquatic ecosystems, containing rare species of very high ecological status. The observed symptoms of deterioration of water quality, reflected in the zooplankton biocoenotic features, showed that the best conditions were attributed to Obrowo Lake in comparison with the two remaining lakes – Modre and Pomysko. Total nitrogen and chlorophyll a concentration were decisive for the distribution of zooplankton species in Pomysko and Obrowo lakes, while in case of Modre lake water reactivity and conductivity were of higher impact.

The role of the water movement and retention during extreme runoff formation was demonstrated in the Modrý Důl catchment (Krkonoše Mts., Czech Republic). A cyclone, which moved from Hungary to Poland, caused an extreme rainfall (120 mm) and subsequent extreme runoff in August, 2002. The precipitation, discharge, air and soil temperatures, tensiometric pressure, and soil moisture were recorded. The maximum retention capacity of the catchment was evaluated (70 mm). Depending on the actual retention capacity and the precipitation amount, two situations were recorded: (1) the precipitation amount lower than the actual retention capacity where the precipitation was fully absorbed in the catchment and the discharge in to the stream was not influenced by rain, (2) the precipitation amount higher than the actual retention capacity where the precipitation caused a saturation excess of the soil profile, generating extreme outflow into the stream. Neither the soil cover in the catchment or fluvial deposits along the Modrý potok stream were able to retain the extreme rain and inhibit the catastrophic flood.

Abstract The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) dual spectral rain algorithm (MODRA) is developed for rain retrievals over the northern midlatitudes. The reflectance of the MODIS water vapor absorption channel at 1.38 μm (R1.38 μm) has a potential to represent the cloud-top height displayed by the brightness temperature (TB) of the MODIS channel at 11 μm, because of an excellent negative relationship (correlation coefficient ≤−0.9) between R1.38 μm and TB11 μm for optically thick clouds with reflectance (R0.65 μm) greater than 0.75. With a training rainfall dataset from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) aboard the same Aqua satellite platform, two MODIS channels (R1.38 μm and R0.65 μm) are applied to form multiregression curves to estimate daytime rainfall. Results demonstrate that the instantaneous rain rates from MODRA, independent AMSR-E rainfall products, and surface rain gauge measurements are consistent. This study explores a new way to estimate rainfall from MODIS water vapor and cloud channels. The resulting technique could be applied to other similar satellite instruments for rain retrievals.

This typical trilobite association — comparable to that previously described from the Erdbacher Kalken of Steeden in Hessen (Germany) — was found during excavation in the Mokrá Quarry but they do not come from the exact Tournaisian-Visean boundary. Stratigraphical correlation and comparison of material is mentioned below, as is the history of the trilobite research from the Moravian Karst.

ABSTRACTA limited number ofPseudomonas aeruginosagenotypes (mainly ST-111, ST-175, and ST-235), known as high-risk clones, are responsible for epidemics of nosocomial infections by multidrug-resistant (MDR) or extensively drug-resistant (XDR) strains worldwide. We explored the potential biological parameters that may explain the success of these clones. A total of 20 isolates from each of 4 resistance groups (XDR, MDR, ModR [resistant to 1 or 2 classes], and MultiS [susceptible to all antipseudomonals]), recovered from a multicenter study ofP. aeruginosabloodstream infections performed in 10 Spanish hospitals, were analyzed. A further set of 20 XDR isolates belonging to epidemic high-risk clones (ST-175 [n= 6], ST-111 [n= 7], and ST-235 [n= 7]) recovered from different geographical locations was also studied. When unknown, genotypes were documented through multilocus sequence typing. The biological parameters evaluated included twitching, swimming, and swarming motility, biofilm formation, production of pyoverdine and pyocyanin, spontaneous mutant frequencies, and thein vitrocompetition index (CI) obtained with a flow cytometry assay. All 20 (100%) XDR, 8 (40%) MDR, and 1 (5%) ModR bloodstream isolate from the multicenter study belonged to high-risk clones. No significant differences were observed between clonally diverse ModR and MultiS isolates for any of the parameters. In contrast, MDR/XDR high-risk clones showed significantly increased biofilm formation and mutant frequencies but significantly reduced motility (twitching, swimming, and swarming), production of pyoverdine and pyocyanin, and fitness. The defined biological markers of high-risk clones, which resemble those resulting from adaptation to chronic infections, could be useful for the design of specific treatment and infection control strategies.

A significant decrease of the fundamental Schumann resonance frequency during the solar cycle minimum of 2008-9 as observed at Modra ObservatoryThe Schumann resonances (SR) are electromagnetic eigenmodes of the resonator bounded by the Earth's surface and the lower ionosphere. The SR frequency variability has been studied for more than 4 decades. Using data from the period 1988 to 2002,Sátori et al. (2005)showed that the SR fundamental mode frequency decreased on the 11-year time scale by 0.07 - 0.2 Hz, depending on which component of the field was used for estimation and likely also on the location of the observer. A decrease by 0.30 Hz from the latest solar cycle maximum to the minimum of 2009 is found in data from Modra Observatory. This extraordinary fall of the fundamental mode frequency can be attributed to the unprecedented drop in the ionizing radiation in X-ray frequency band. Although the patterns of the daily and seasonal variations remain the same in the solar cycle minimum as in the solar cycle maximum, they are significantly shifted to lower frequencies during the minimum. Analysis of the daily frequency range suggests that the main thunderstorm regions during the north hemisphere summer are smaller in the solar cycle minimum than in the maximum.

The equipment utilizes a continuous wave transmitting frequency at 42.7 MHz, with a mean power of 0.25 kW.

Abstract The more precise determination of instantaneous peak frequency of Schumann resonance (SR) modes, especially based on relatively short signal sequences, seems to be important for detailed analysis of SR modal frequencies variations. Contrary to commonly used method of obtaining modal frequencies by Lorentzian fitting of DFT spectra, the attempt was made to employ the complex demodulation method in iterated form. The results for SR signals contaminated with low-frequency noise and hum in various degree as well as the comparison with standard method are presented. Real signals of vertical electric field component picked up at the Astronomical and Geophysical Observatory of Comenius University at Modra, Slovakia, were the primary sources.

AbstractUnusual short-period comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 1 inspired many observers to explain its unpredictable outbursts. In this paper large scale structures and features from the inner part of the coma in time periods around outbursts are studied. CCD images were taken at Whipple Observatory, Mt. Hopkins, in 1989 and at Astronomical Observatory, Modra, from 1995 to 1998. Photographic plates of the comet were taken at Harvard College Observatory, Oak Ridge, from 1974 to 1982. The latter were digitized at first to apply the same techniques of image processing for optimizing the visibility of features in the coma during outbursts. Outbursts and coma structures show various shapes.

Abstract We present the tidal parameters estimated for the absolute gravity site in Modra (Slovakia). This is the first tidal analysis based on gravity measurements for this location. Relative gravity variations observed by Scintrex CG-5 Autograv gravimeter were used for the tidal analysis. We observed large and non-linear instrumental drift which cannot be effectively eliminated by polynomial approximation. Drift was eliminated by a filtering. New set of tidal parameters was estimated and analyzed with the focus on diurnal and semi-diurnal tidal waves. Time and frequency domain comparison between new parameters and those obtained from the superconducting gravimeter located in Vienna was performed. A maximum amplitude factor difference of 0.2% was found between main tidal waves corrected for ocean tides and non-hydrostatic body tide model. New estimated tidal parameters can serve for the correction of local relative gravity measurements

The aim of this study was clarifying the relation between genetic diversity of edible honeysuckle (Lonicera kamtschatica) and the major group of biologically active substances as total polyphenols content (TPC) including antioxidant activity (AO). Fruits of edible honeysuckle becomes more and more popular, especially in Europe. The current status of research on polyphenolic compounds in the berries of edible honeysuckle and their biological effects, including recommended utilization, are reviewed.The biological material including 14 cultivars of the edible honeysuckle (´Zoluška´, ´Amfora´, ´Pruhonický 44´, ´Vasilijevsky´, ´Moskovskaja´, ´Vojtek´, ´Sinoglaska´, ´Altaj´, ´Lipnická´, ´Kamčadalka´, ´Sinaja Ptica´, ´Fialka´, ´Modrý Triumf´, and ´Leningradský velikán´) originated from Czech republic (Žabcice near Brno). The content of TPC and AO were determined by location and its soil-climatic conditions and these environmental circumstances determines the RAPD profiles of analysed honeysuckle acessions, too. DPPH method was used to analyze AO and Folin-Ciocalteu method was used to determine TPC. The results of experiment showed that the highest value of AO was determined at the cultivars ´Zoluška´ (81.04 mg.L-1) and the lowest was measured in ´Kamčadalka´ (54.122 mg.L-1). On the contrary, the highest content of TPC was determined at the cultivar ´Kamčadalka´ (51.09 mg.L-1) and the lowest value was measured at the cultivar ´Pruhonický 44´ (21.65 mg.L-1). Phylogenetic trees were similar in genetic distance. The content of TPC and AO were not statistically significant in relation to cultivar. The analyzed cultivars of the edible honeysuckle were separated in 4 clusters according to used primers. In both gel images, the amplicon size ranged from 100 to 1,500 bp. We found that genetic diversity was partially related to content of total polyphenolic substances and antioxidant activity. Based on phylogenetic trees we have stated that variety ´Lipnická´, ´Sinoglaska´, ´Altaj´, ´Leningradský velikán´, ´Modrý Triumf´, ´Sinaja Ptica´ and ´Kamčadalka´ were grouped in the similar cluster. The highest genetic distance was determined at the variety ´Vasilijevskaja´ and ´Amfora´. In the same way, there were variety ´Vojtek´, ´Fialka´ and ´Zoluška´.
