The Master´s thesis is focused on financial sources invested in education at language schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part gathers data associated with the topic and is based primarily on the specialized literature. From the characterization of linguistic companies, it is obvious that this type can be described as a non-formal type of education. According to the international classification it belongs to the post-secondary non-tertiary education. Information obtained in the theoretical part will be important for the analytical part of the thesis. The practical section describes mostly language schools, analyses their offer of linguistic classes for public in detail. Both economic and non-economic criteria will be analysed and compared. The conclusion of the thesis presents evaluation of the previous parts. It is clear that the competition in the particular market is strong, and therefore it is necessary for every company to strive for some kind of competitive advantage. Regarding the choice of a suitable linguistic course from the point of view of a student, we suggest several factors that one should consider. Generally, it has been proven that investment in any kind of education is always considered a good investment.

This thesis deals with identification, analysis and critical assessment of challenges for international relations arising in the Arctic in connection with global climate change, which results mainly into decrease of the sea ice. Copenhagen School forms the primary theoretical bedrock of the thesis. The thesis maps the approach of different theoretical paradigms to the Arctic region throughout the history and on this basis it justifies the relevance of application of the concept of security sectors defined by Copenhagen School on the region. The thesis also maps the current governance mechanisms of the Arctic region as far as international law and institutional arrangements are concerned. The aim of the thesis is to compare liberal approach in science disciplines of international affairs and economy. The thesis is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter is characterized historical background and sources of liberal thinking. In the thesis, the main focus is concentrated on the regulation of tertiary education sector by means of the accreditation. According to The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), there are chosen the countries with the highest representation of universities in Top20-Top500. Especially in the point of view of their regulation, the systems of tertiary education of those countries are analyzed and divided into two groups: (1) In the first group, there are systems running liberally (or on more liberal base); and (2) In the second one, there are the systems considered as behaving more regulative to tertiary sector. The comparison of those two groups is trying to answer the question if the regulation might be the reason of successfulness or unsuccessfulness of the given group. In comparison of world's best practice, special attention is dedicated to the Czech Accreditation Committee and accreditation process transparency in the Czech Republic. Due to the lucidity, there is to found the illustration of the systems according to each analyzed country at the end of the thesis.

The diploma thesis comprehensively introduces the issue of in-service training of pedagogical staff with a focus on secondary school teachers as one of the areas of school self-evaluation. In-service teacher training comes to the fore as it goes hand in hand with the quality of training. In its first part, it identifies the basic definitions needed to understand the topic of school self- evaliation and in-service teacher training, then it defines the legislative framework ensuring in- service teacher training, strategic documents and other plans. Last but not least, it defines the objectives and forms of in-service teacher training and briefly outlines the situation in Europe with a focus on international surveys. Using content analysis, the thesis evaluates three annual reports of the selected secondary school. Furthermore, standardized structured interview was held with the school management and also a standardized questionnaire is distributed among pedagogical staff of the selected secondary school. The results of the international study TIMSS (The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) raise concerns that Czech primary pupils fall behind in some content domains of science (namely the physical sciences) and in some skills (experimental skills). This thesis compares the Czech curriculum with the current international trends in the science education and shows that above mentioned topics/skills are not sufficiently covered in the official curriculum. The second part of the thesis describes a case study of a relatively successful implementation of innovative science lessons focused on these skills in three primary classrooms of a Czech school. The concepts of inquiry-based learning, theory of learning materials and lesson study method are the main components of the theoretical and conceptual background of the study. When comparing the Czech curriculum (official documents and textbooks used in school) and school curricular plans with the TIMSS framework, it emerges that both the national curricular framework and the school curriculum do not cover some of those upper mentioned. The recent decades have seen a steady growth of international trade of goods. In order to harmonize the legal environment concerning this materia, attempts for unification of international sales law have been made. In the field of sales of goods, several international instruments have been adopted. These include the (unsuccessful) Convention relating to a Uniform Law on the International Sale of Goods, the model laws, i.e. the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts and the Principles of European Contract Law, and, most notably, the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sales of Goods (CISG). This master's thesis aims to explore one type of remedies for non-performance under the CISG, namely provisions on damages. In a great detail, articles 74, 77, 79 and 80 will be analysed. First, a detailed commentary on two major prerequisites for liability for damages, i.e. causation and foreseeability, will be given. The various factual and legal causation theories will be described. Then it will be demonstrated why it is just and useful that the CISG contains a provision for limiting liability to foreseeable loss and how foreseeability is measured. Resumé: This thesis titled "Damages in Investment Disputes" deals with analysis of various types of damages in investment arbitrations. To approximate this theme author tries to use the case study methot for various terms of international investment law. The aim of this thesis was to try to summarize theoretical definition of damages, using its various types and reasons of their origin. Described is contractual basis, from which damages arise in causal nexus, but also particular instrumets of investment arbitration and its jurisdictional practice. The general goal of the thesis is to comprehensively describe possibilities of the innocent party when claiming the damages under Article 74 of the CISG while focusing in detail on the issue of calculation of damages. The author of this thesis deals with headmaster training in the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany (Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia). He obtained information about education systems and education opportunities in these countries through selected research methods which were a questionnaire and interviews with school headmasters. The need for proper managerial qualification of headmasters necessary for them to meet requirements for discharge of the function is proved by the fact that today headmasters have to cope with demands made on their competency readiness which they can receive through good specialized training. The information obtained can be used as a pattern or methodical recommendations because in every country the managerial education follows different qualifying models. The thesis reflect the thought that even after adoption of Directive on certain rules governing actions for damages under national law for infringements of the competition law provisions of the Member States and of the European Union, there are still significant differences between the legal systems of the Member States, which to a large extent affect the compensation for damages. One of the most frequent questions in the study of Chinese foreign policy is whether China can be regarded as a responsible member of international society. It is the aim of the presented thesis to look more closely at China's behaviour in the present international society in terms of responsibility. The thesis utilizes the concept of international society developed by the English school of international relations and interconnects it with the concept of responsibility in international relations to determine a set of criteria which an ordinary state or great power must meet in order to be regarded as responsible in the present international society. In order to determine whether China behaves as a responsible ordinary state or great power on the international level, the thesis utilizes the method of the most likely and the least likely case studies. The analysis of China's behaviour in the World Trade Organization and within the nuclear non-proliferation regime can provide sufficient evidence of China's acceptance of primary institutions forming the backbone of the present international society. The findings have serious implications for thinking of contemporary China as a status quo state respecting institutions and rules of the present international society.

This dissertation thesis summarizes the research findings of reviews of Czech society to antibiotics and drugs and her knowledge of infectious diseases and how to effectively prevent the increase of resistant bacteria. This research was attended by 1,242 respondents from four regions of the Czech Republic. The survey revealed a very low respondent's knowledge about the possibilities of effective primary and secondary prevention of infectious diseases. With these findings the Department of Infectious Diseases from the 3rd Medical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague participated in the development and implementation of a pan- European teaching programme called "e-Bug." The main objective of this project was to develop and evaluate the teaching resource which teachers could use in the primary and secondary school in the subject "Health Education". Based on the evaluation of the first version of educational e-Bug manuals on a sample of 2,181students from England, France and the Czech Republic, the team of experts created two teaching manuals (one for primary and second for secondary school). In the last part, three eTwinning projects are presented as good practice examples from the Czech Republic. The main aim of the diploma thesis is to present the European activity in as broad context as possible and from different points of view. All the data used are based on relevant literature and other sources.

Annotation:
This thesis deals with an interest in educational and occupational career in natural sciences, technology or engineering. With reference to knowledge economy concept, I suppose that high-professionals in natural sciences, technology and engineering significantly contribute to development in science and innovations of a country. Therefore two groups with the highest potential to become high-professionals are of my focus - university students and 15-year old with university aspirations. I did not found any significant effect of family background on interest in future study and/or career connected with natural sciences. Effect of attended secondary school, in particular effect of information on science careers students get at school, was found very strong. However, at the tertiary level, natural sciences, technology and engineering students, compared to students in other fields, recruit from rather lower socioeconomic backgrounds. The findings presented within this thesis are in agreement with declared provisions and current activities done in the Czech Republic to support interest in natural sciences, technology and engineering. My suggestions stress two issues - career guidance and study programme lyceum.

The dissertation deals with the relationship between sport and the law, in conjunction with private international law. For more than a century sport passed through an important period of development. Many sports have been successfully forgotten, some have survived, and many can be included as the new sports with a tradition of several years or decades. Legal theory and legal practice so far took no particular need to take the issue of sports opinion. Sport is an objectively existing category in nature regardless the law. However, questions regularly associated with sports injuries and their resulting consequences emerged. The growing need for legal regulation of sport industry is primarily related to risks that sports bring to their surroundings and also to athletes. In the foreground there is the application of civil law, which affects compensation for damage to health and sports injuries. Clear solution has not been found to this day. The main goal of this thesis is to evaluate the current state winter sports legislation with an emphasis on skiing. The main topic of the dissertation is responsibility for damages in connection with ski injuries. - International air transport: enforcement of rights of passengers under Regulation (ES) No. 261/2004 in the light of judgments of the European court of Justice The subject of this thesis is the enforcement of the rights of passengers under the Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004 establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights. The thesis is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter the particular conventions which have been concluded in the area of the international air transportation and which have influenced this area greatly are covered, in particular the Warsaw and Montreal Conventions. The second chapter focuses on the Regulation 261/2004 itself. Particular situations which establish the right for compensation to the passengers are described and analyzed. The issue of the definition of the term "extraordinary circumstances" has not been omitted either. The provisions of the Regulation 261/2004 are interpreted in the light of the SDEU judiciary. The present thesis deals with the changing status position of the army in the French defence policy according to the expanded security concept of the Copenhagen school. The concept of security in France has changed after the end of the Cold War, the consequent disappearance of the threat represented by the clash of the East and West and with the expansion of the threat sector and referent objects. It was necessary that the role of the state and its army has to change based on the newly defined threats. Throughout French history its army occupied an important position as it ensured France its independence and grandeur. However, events associated with the end of the Cold War have resulted in changes in the French defence policy. There is an expansion in the tasks that the military must assume to protect its state. On the basis of three factors (France's approach to the international system, the protection of the individual and the receding role of the army) the present thesis analyzes the changing role of the army in the defence of France.
