Pour tester ces propositions, on doit idéalement disposer de données longitudinales ou, tout au moins, rétrospectives. Cependant, des études récentes ont démontré que des données provenant de coupes transversales répétées dans le temps peuvent être utilisées pour estimer des modèles dynamiques. Suivant une approche proposée par Moffitt (1990, 1993), on construit un modèle markovien avec variables dépendantes discrètes pour analyser les décisions de formation des couples et de fécondité de rang un, deux et trois des femmes canadiennes. Ce modèle est estimé à l’aide de données tirées de l’Enquête sur les finances des consommateurs, une enquête ponctuelle répétée dans le temps.

On lit souvent que les modèles de risque « tiennent compte du passé » ou « possèdent une mémoire ». Contrairement à une croyance répandue, ceci n’est vrai que pour le quotient instantané de base et non pour la variation du quotient en fonction d’une variable indépendante fonction du temps (VIFT). Le quotient instantané de base varie en fonction du temps mesuré depuis l’origine, mais l’effet de la VIFT est markovien par construction : l’estimation de l’effet de la VIFT ne tient compte que de l’état occupé à chaque instant et pas des états occupés auparavant. En conséquence, son effet n’est pas conditionnel aux états occupés antérieurement. L’article examine cette question en adoptant le point de vue de la statistique mathématique, notamment en distinguant la populationthéoriqueconstruite à l’aide de modèles de risque et la populationréelleetfiniedont sont tirés les échantillons de personnes. Quel est le nombre d'échantillons à prélever pour analyse bactériologique dans un réseau de distribution d'eau potable afin réaliser un autocontrôle optimal du point de vue économique (coûts analytiques et coût des actions curatives), tout en limitant les risques de dégradation de la qualité ? Pour répondre à cette question, nous proposons un modèle probabiliste qui simule le choix de la décision curative lorsque les analyses indiquent des résultats insatisfaisants ainsi que l'effet de cette décision sur la qualité de l'eau du réseau. Les différentes actions curatives et leur efficacité ont été déterminées empiriquement à partir de l'expertise du gestionnaire du réseau de la Banlieue de Paris et des données collectées de 1992 à 1996. Le modèle s'appuie sur un schéma Markovien d'évolution du couple (Qualité de l'eau, Action curative). Par programmation dynamique, on calcule le coût moyen de la politique décisionnelle de la Banlieue de Paris et le risque généré par cette politique en terme de qualité de l'eau (fréquence des états dégradés), pour différents niveaux d'autocontrôle (nombre d'analyses d'autocontrôle). Le risque d'avoir un état dégradé diminue avec le nombre d'analyses jusqu'au seuil de 140 analyses (autocontrôle et contrôle réglementaire) puis reste quasiment constant, tandis que les coûts continuent d'augmenter.

Članak se bavi metaetičkim aspektima knjige Etika Franje Markovića. Markovićeva opažanja o prirodi morala nastojim interpretirati u kontekstu suvremenih metaetičkih pozicija, a pritom je naglasak stavljen na njegovu raspravu o izvorima etičkih načela, u kojoj se on jasno smješta u tradiciju onih autora koji etiku pokušavaju utemeljiti u sentimentu. Ukazujući na relevantne dijelove njegove rasprave, u tekstu sugeriram da Marković zagovara senzibilističku verziju moralnog sentimentalizma i da je potporu takvoj interpretaciji moguće pronaći u Markovićevu razumijevanju odnosa između etike, psihologije i estetike.

Résumé Courgeau (Daniel). - Perspectives avec migrations Si les perspectives de naissances et de décès posent déjà de nombreuses hypothèses, celles qui introduisent l'effet des migrations sont encore plus complexes. On a coutume pour ce faire de calculer des taux d'émigration, que l'on applique aux populations des zones de départ. On aboutit ainsi à un processus markovien dont les propriétés sont bien connues et qui conduit à la limite à des populations régionales stables. Or, de nombreuses études ont montré que de tels taux sont peu satisfaisants pour caractériser les flux entre zones. Les indices d'intensité migratoire qui font intervenir, à la fois, la population de départ et celle d'arrivée, constituent un substitut à ces taux, bien plus satisfaisant tant au point de vue théorique que pratique. L'utilisation de tels indices, calculés sur une période finie (intercensitaire, par exemple), conduit à des perspectives très rapidement différentes de celles qui utilisent des taux d'émigration. En particulier, il n'y a généralement plus de populations limites stables et certaines populations peuvent s'éteindre. Dans certains cas cependant, ces perspectives en arrivent à des situations incompatibles avec l'observation démographique: certaines populations peuvent en particulier devenir négatives. Ces incohérences venant de l'utilisation d'un modèle en temps discret, nous étudions dès lors ce qui se p?sse si l'on situe un tel modèle dans un temps continu. Sous ces conditions, les difficultés rencontrées en temps discret sont levées. On a dans tous les cas une solution unique pour des conditions initiales ainsi que des indices d'intensité migratoire instantanés donnés. La comparaison est faite entre modèles en temps discret et en temps continu à l'aide de divers exemples. L'utilisation d'un modèle en temps continu pose cependant de nouveaux problèmes, tels que celui de l'estimation d'un indice d'intensité instantané qui permette de retrouver les effectifs de migrants recensés au cours d'une période intercensitaire. Bien que ces indices ne conduisent plus à des populations stables, ils permettent de mieux déceler les interactions qui existent entre les populations de diverses régions et de montrer les conséquences que l'on peut en attendre. Leur utilisation doit être généralisée aux cas de populations décomposées par âges et en diverses catégories (professionnelles, matrimoniales, etc.).

To understand the discourse that the socialists had towards the Woman Question, the texts of Svetozar Markovic, Oslobođenje ženskinja and Pevanje i mišljenje were analyzed, as well as a couple of newspaper articles by Dimitrije Tucovic. Svetozar Marković, under the influence of John Stuart Mill, was the first in Serbia to raise the issue of women's liberation, accepting Mill's concept of gender equality. This author pays special attention to the economic position of women, finding in it all the weight of their social position. On the other hand, on the initiative of Dimitrije Tucović, the newspaper Jednakost was founded, as a newspaper of women-social democrats and at the same time as the first women's political newspaper in the Balkans. In this newspaper Tucović was presented as a key figure that led to the emancipation of women within the Social Democratic Party. Both Marković and Tucović saw the Woman Question as a political issue. What is perhaps most striking and important to point out is the connection between the Woman Question and complete social transformation.

The behavior of quantum coherence is studied under Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics for open quantum systems. For single qubit systems, we show that the coherence depending on the off-diagonal elements of the density matrix is the upper bound of the coherence depending on the relative entropy under both Markovian and non-Markovian processes. For two-qubit systems, in both Markovian and non-Markovian processes, quantum discord and coherence show less sensitivity to the initial state than quantum entanglement. We also find that the quantum discord has similar behaviors with coherence under both Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics.

The non-Markovianity of open quantum system dynamics is often associated with the bidirectional interchange of information between the system and its environment, and it is thought to be a resource for various quantum information tasks. We have investigated the non-Markovianity of the dynamics of a two-state system driven by continuous time random walk-type noise, which can be Markovian or non-Markovian depending on its residence time distribution parameters. Exact analytical expressions for the distinguishability as well as the trace distance and entropy-based non-Markovianity measures are obtained and used to investigate the interplay between the non-Markovianity of the noise and that of dynamics. Our results show that, in many cases, the dynamics are also non-Markovian when the noise is non-Markovian. However, it is possible for Markovian noise to cause non-Markovian dynamics and for non-Markovian noise to cause Markovian dynamics but only for certain parameter values.

By introducing variables and a simple transformation, every finite phase semi-Markov process can be transformed to a finite Markov chain which is called its associated Markov chain. A consequence of this is that every phase semi-Markovian switching system may be equivalently expressed as its associated Markovian switching system. Existing results for Markovian switching systems may then be applied to analyze phase semi-Markovian switching systems. In the following, we obtain asymptotic stability for the distribution of nonlinear stochastic systems with semi-Markovian switching. The results can also be extended to general semi-Markovian switching systems. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the theoretical results obtained.

AbstractOver the past two decades considerable effort has been devoted to problems of stochastic stability, stabilisation, filtering and control for linear and nonlinear systems with Markovian jump parameters, and a number of results have been achieved. However, due to the exponential distribution of the Markovian chain, there are many restrictions on existing results for practical applications. In the present paper, we study systems whose jump parameters are semi-Markovian rather than fully Markovian. We consider only linear systems with semi-Markovian jump parameters, and also study systems with phase-type semi-Markovian jump parameters, because the family of phase-type distributions is dense in the families of all probability distributions on [0, +∞). Some stochastic stability results are obtained. An example is given to show the potential of the proposed techniques.

The non-Markovian systems represent almost all stochastic processes, except of a small class having the Markov property; it is a real challenge to analyze these systems. In this article, we present a general method of analyzing non-Markovian systems. The novel viewpoint is given by the use of a compact stochastic process calculus developed in the formal framework of computer science for describing concurrent systems. Since phase-type distributions can approximate non-Markovian systems with arbitrary precision, we approximate a non-Markovian system by describing it easily in our stochastic process calculus, which employs phase-type distributions. The obtained process (in our calculus) are then translated into the probabilistic model checker PRISM; by using this free software tool, we can analyze several quantitative properties of the Markovian approximation of the initial non-Markovian system.

Prikazuje se organiziranje i djelovanje stranke od‎ osnivanja do sudjelovanja na izborima u četiri jugoslavenske republike 1990.‎ – Bosni i Hercegovini, Srbiji, Crnoj Gori i Makedoniji. Pažnja je posvećena‎ najvažnijim aspektima programa stranke – tržišnoj ekonomiji i očuvanju jugoslavenske‎ države. Uz to analiziraju se kritike različitih političkih protivnika‎ širom Jugoslavije upućene stranci. Dodatno se analizira neuspješno sudjelovanje‎ Saveza reformskih snaga Jugoslavije na prvim demokratskim izborima‎ 1990. Zaključuje se kako je stranka u izbornim aktivnostima podbacila u približavanju‎ nižim slojevima društva i nije uspjela ostvariti značajniji izborni‎ rezultat protiv nacionalnih stranaka. Za potrebe ovoga članka korištena je dostupna‎ znanstvena i memoarska literatura te opsežni novinski izvori.‎

Combs are a simple caricature of various types of natural branched structures, which belong to the category of loopless graphs and consist of a backbone and branches. We study two generalizations of comb models and present a generic method to obtain their transport properties. The first is a continuous time random walk on a many dimensional m + n comb, where m and n are the dimensions of the backbone and branches, respectively. We observe subdiffusion, ultra-slow diffusion and random localization as a function of n. The second deals with a quantum particle in the 1 + 1 comb. It turns out that the comb geometry leads to a power-law relaxation, described by a wave function in the framework of the Schrödinger equation.

The starting assumption is the opinion that Marković's opus is quite relevant for the re-examination of the role of the socially engaged intellectual, particularly in regional and global circumstances today. The basic procedures in dealing with the topic are: (1) presentation of Marković's main accomplishments, (2) analysis of the meaning and the place of the dialogue in communicative modalities of the opinion and (3) confirming the thesis about the harmful dialogue deficit through an illustrative example of the so-called collective West. The most important results refer to the explanation of the dissident and dialogue role of the socially responsible intellectual, as well as the corroboration of the opinions about Marković's proper attitude in that respect.

Hawkes processes are a class of self-exciting point processes with a clustering effect whose jump rate is determined by its past history. They are generally regarded as continuous-time processes and have been widely applied in a number of fields, such as insurance, finance, queueing, and statistics. The Hawkes model is generally non-Markovian because its future development depends on the timing of past events. However, it can be Markovian under certain circumstances. If the exciting function is an exponential function or a sum of exponential functions, the model can be Markovian with a generator of the model. In contrast to the general Hawkes processes, the inverse Hawkes process has some specific features and self-excitation indicates severity. Inverse Markovian Hawkes processes were introduced by Seol, who studied some asymptotic behaviors. An extended version of inverse Markovian Hawkes processes was also studied by Seol. With this paper, we propose a non-Markovian inverse Hawkes process, which is a more general inverse Hawkes process that features several existing models of self-exciting processes. In particular, we established both the law of large numbers (LLN) and Central limit theorems (CLT) for a newly considered non-Markovian inverse Hawkes process.

Non-Markovian dynamics are characterized by information backflows, where the evolving open quantum system retrieves part of the information previously lost in the environment. Hence, the very definition of non-Markovianity implies an initial time interval when the evolution is noisy, otherwise no backflow could take place. We identify two types of initial noise, where the first has the only effect of degrading the information content of the system, while the latter is essential for the appearance of non-Markovian phenomena. Therefore, all non-Markovian evolutions can be divided into two classes: noisy non-Markovian (NNM), showing both types of noise, and pure non-Markovian (PNM), implementing solely essential noise. We make this distinction through a timing analysis of fundamental non-Markovian features. First, we prove that all NNM dynamics can be simulated through a Markovian pre-processing of a PNM core. We quantify the gains in terms of information backflows and non-Markovianity measures provided by PNM evolutions. Similarly, we study how the entanglement breaking property behaves in this framework and we discuss a technique to activate correlation backflows. Finally, we show the applicability of our results through the study of several well-know dynamical models.

The fully quantized model of double qubits coupled to a common bath is solved using the quantum state diffusion (QSD) approach in the non-Markovian regime. We have established the explicit time-local non-Markovian QSD equations for the two-qubit dissipative and dephasing models. Diffusive quantum trajectories are applied to the entanglement estimation of two-qubit systems in a non-Markovian regime. In both cases, non-Markovian features of entanglement evolution are revealed through quantum diffusive unravellings in the system state space.

We study a class of qubit non-Markovian general Pauli dynamical maps with multiple singularities in the generator. We discuss a few easy examples involving trigonometric or other nonmonotonic time dependence of the map, and discuss in detail the structure of channels which don’t have any trigonometric functional dependence. We demystify the concept of a singularity here, showing that it corresponds to a point where the dynamics can be regular but the map is momentarily noninvertible, and this gives a basic guideline to construct such non-invertible non-Markovian channels. Most members of the channels in the considered family are quasi-eternally non-Markovian (QENM), which is a broader class of non-Markovian channels than the eternal non-Markovian channels. Specifically, the measure of quasi-eternal non-Markovian (QENM) channels in the considered class is shown to be [Formula: see text] in the isotropic case, and about 0.96 in the anisotropic case.

We study the exact non-Markovian dynamics of a multi-qubit system coupled to a photonic-crystal waveguide with infinite cavity-array structure. A general solution of the evolution state of the system is solved for a general initial state in the single-excitation subspace. With this solution, we find that the non-Markovian effect of the environment on the system could be enhanced not only by increasing the system-environment coupling strength but also by adding the qubit number in the system. The explicit non-Markovian dynamics are discussed under two initial states to see the non-Markovian effect on entanglement preservation and entanglement generation. We find that the non-Markovian effect tends to preserve the system in its initial state.

We analyze the Markovian and non-Markovian stochastic quantization methods for a complex action quantum mechanical model analog to Maxwell–Chern–Simons electrodynamics in Weyl gauge. We show through analytical methods convergence to the correct equilibrium state for both methods. Introduction of a memory kernel generates a non-Markovian process which has the effect of slowing down oscillations that arise in the Langevin-time evolution towards equilibrium of complex-action problems. This feature of non-Markovian stochastic quantization might be beneficial in large-scale numerical simulations of complex action field theories on a lattice.

Planning in finite stochastic environments is canonically posed as a Markov decision process where the transition and reward structures are explicitly known. Reinforcement learning (RL) lifts the explicitness assumption by working with sampling models instead. Further, with the advent of reward machines, we can relax the Markovian assumption on the reward. Angluin's active grammatical inference algorithm L* has found novel application in explicating reward machines for non-Markovian RL. We propose maintaining the assumption of explicit transition dynamics, but with an implicit non-Markovian reward signal, which must be inferred from experiments. We call this setting non-Markovian planning, as opposed to non-Markovian RL. The proposed approach leverages L* to explicate an automaton structure for the underlying planning objective. We exploit the environment model to learn an automaton faster and integrate it with value iteration to accelerate the planning. We compare against recent non-Markovian RL solutions which leverage grammatical inference, and establish complexity results that illustrate the difference in runtime between grammatical inference in planning and RL settings.

Abstract This paper establishes a stochastic synchronization method for a Markovian jump complex dynamical network (MJCDN) with time-delay and uncertainties. The considered Markovian structure is piecewise-homogeneous with piecewise-constant time-varying transition rates (TRs). Two Markovian signals are utilized to construct the piecewise-homogeneous Markovian structure. A low-level Markovian signal with time-varying TRs governs the switching between the system dynamics while it is managed by a high-level Markovian signal. Due to the effect of imperfections induced by modeling errors in the system dynamics, some parametric norm-bounded uncertainties are considered. In addition, uncertain TR matrix is considered which means that inaccurate or uncertain information for each element of the TR matrix is allowable. This modelling makes the MJCDN to be more general and applicable than the existing ones. Synchronization conditions are obtained and reported in the form of linear matrix inequalities by the help of Lyapunov–Krasovskii theory, Wirtinger-based integral inequality approach and reciprocally convex technique. Finally, a numerical example is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A stochastic lineshape theory is formulated for the non‐Markovian and multistate frequency modulation model. The frequency of the stochastic oscillator undergoes non‐Markovian modulations between multiple states, and the transition processes are described by arbitrary waiting‐time distributions. By incorporating stationarity into the stochastic process in a proper way, we calculate the propagator and the relaxation function. It is shown that a stationary distribution among the oscillator states satisfies a generalized detailed balance condition even in the non‐Markovian case. We find an exact expression for the lineshape function, which contains the Markovian case as a special limit.
