The Tragedy of Mariam, The Fair Queen of Jewry (circ) 1604 deals with the difficulties of a woman to express herself in a society that enjoins women to silence and to the private realm of the home. In the play Cary debates the actions of several female characters, presenting the reader with the understanding that they are wilful subjects who act to push the boundaries of the patriarchal confines of the royal household in which they find themselves. But Cary does not unequivocally endorse these women's actions. The main protagonist of the play is Mariam whose public voice and failure to comply with her husband forms the central drama of the play. Drawing on the ambiguity that is evident in Cary's play, I explore female subjectivity in the play with regards to two of the most influential ideologies in early modern England: those of marriage and religion. Every woman in early modern England, as with all the women in Cary's play, were either married, to be married or had been married. Protestant ideology became the ambiguous space where women were for the first time considered as spiritually equal. But the family and marriage were social and gendered constructions that drew on Christian discourse in order to reinstate the notions of gender difference and ensure the submission of women in the home and in the family.

The compositional practices in turntable writing as a solo and ensemble instrument in the works of this portfolio are research based, exploring a variety of methods to notate work in response to experiments. The challenges and opportunities that have arisen throughout this development of composition have directed the research along different routes, promoting the turntable as a musical instrument in different instrumental ensembles. Devising a repertoire that did not previously exist has in part developed the turntable as an instrument where there are gaps in its history and also helped firmly established its place within contemporary music instrumental ensembles. Within this commentary, the defined techniques employed in the turntable works are not simply derived either from hip hop turntablism or New Art turntablism, but instead establish a synthetic practice. Skills from both traditions are mixed together with fluidity in order to establish a new repertoire for turntable through taught skills by developing a new ensemble of turntablists, NOISESTRA. This approach, combined with experiments in graphic notation, brings together performers in a new way, where established and highly skilled musicians work with young performers in a community music setting, willing to experiment and fail in search of successfully creating new sounds with turntables. The research includes a working methodology of compositional process that relates to popular teaching theories of Roger Hart, David Holb, John Stevens and Neil Fleming. Observations from conventionally notated and graphic scores, analysed writings of Katz, Smith alongside Brewster and Broughton broaden the search for the appropriate means for which to notate for turntables both with and without instrumental ensembles. Concluding that there is no one correct way to notate for turntable, I demonstrate several notational methods including an adaptation of the 5-line system in some compositions, and experiment with 2D, and 3D video graphic scores in others, proving that there are advantages and disadvantages in each individual context. I evaluate my compositional practice and assess the success of strategies in writing for turntable ensemble by comparing my initial theoretical ideas with the practical experiments and results. It is recommended that performers and readers of this work read the glossary and notes in A Guide to Turntablism and Turntable Notations for Performers1 found in the appendices before reading this commentary.

I en enkätundersökning har jag undersökt om det finns något samband mellan upplevelsen av kön hos den okönade autodiegetiska berättaren och författarens kön i två dikter av David Uppgren och Mariam Naraghi. Jag kom fram till att så inte var fallet utan att det fanns större bevis för att läsarna i huvudsak projicerade sitt eget kön på berättarrösten. Sedan analyserade jag även enkätsvaren för att undersöka vad i dikterna som avgjorde om berättarrösten upplevdes som man eller kvinna. Det framkom att stereotypa uppfattningar om kön låg till grunden för majoriteten av läsarnas upplevelse. Efter detta applicerade jag stereotyperna på dikten för att se om diktens innehåll påverkades av om berättarrösten upplevdes som man eller kvinna. Utfallet tydde på att så var fallet och att det i synnerhet är märkbart i berättarröstens förhållningssätt till den fiktiva världen.

This work invites you to reflect and think Marian devotion today. With the goal of presenting the spirituality of the Pe. Chaminade, which rests in a marial Mystique, giving amarial Mystique, giving a better understanding of Marian devotion in times of secularization. In his time. Chaminade studied and deepened the role and mission of Mary in the mystery of Christ and the Church, in anticipation of the Ecumenical Council Vatican II. Proposes the devotion to Mary with prudence and caution, for him the devotion to Mary leads the faithful to a subsidiary relationship, which he called filial piety. He lived a deep experience of God, before the image of the Virgin of the pillar in Zaragoza, Spain, where he stayed for three years in exile, which was a time of troubles, challenges, but also a time of grace, a maturing in the faith. This experience led him to a new way of evangelizing to France, after the French Revolution, in the process of secularization. To reach the mystical elements of Marian made a general approach to the mystical concept of privileging the dimension of experience: the intimate union with God as content and goal of the experiment; their condition of immediate experience in mediating soul and trace which it leaves the presence of God and finally the love as the way and means of the association. Developed the concept of mystical, we treat the concept of Christian mysticism, where the central element is the Incarnation of Jesus Christ, Son of God become Son of Mary. The story of Fr. Chaminade and Marian spirituality, the finding of a Mystic Marial within the Marian spirituality. He presents Mary as the Virgin that embraces life, the mother who communicates the life and the Wife who lives an unconditional love, and may be called a Mystery icon, is carried in her womb the mystery of a God who became human, Jesus Christ. For the Pe. Chaminade devotion to Mary is to imitate her virtues to reach conformity with Christ, Maria is the Center, the whole devotion must lead the faithful to the center of the Christian faith, which is Jesus Christ. Concerned with the formation of the people, and as an educator in the faith and in Christian ways, proposing the method of virtues that can be a way: to self-knowledge, a path to love and a way to the service, that points to a human and integral growth of the person, with a community ethic of care, solidarity and compassion. To new times and new challenges new methods. New wine in new skins.

This interdisciplinary study examines a collection of chants intrinsically connected to the larger body of Western Chant: the psallendae. These chants of the Ambrosian rite, the form of Christian worship proper to the archdiocese of Milan, were sung during religious processions. With over 700 psallendae assigned to the Church calendar, this study examines only those assigned to feast days of the Virgin Mary, and in doing so, reveals a rich history of devotion to her. The primary sources examined are thirteenth-century manuscripts and medieval liturgical manuals. The processional chants are subjected to a thorough literary and musical analysis. Rooted in François-Auguste Gevaert's thematic theory, and using tools of reticular and stemmatic analysis, the psallendae are grouped according to melodic profile. Each group is then reduced to a core melodic theme, which, when juxtaposed with the ancient practice of religious processions, makes a compelling argument for the psallendae as among the oldest Christian chants.

The scholarly studies on The Tragedy of Mariam (1613), the first original five-act closet drama written in English by a woman, Elizabeth Cary, still raise questions about the author's inspirational impetus for her revised version on the Herod-Mariamme myth. Cary appears to have heavily borrowed from Flavius Josephus's works, The Antiquities, completed circa 93-94 A.D., and perhaps also The Jewish War, completed earlier, between 69 and 79 A.D., for the plot of Mariam, but a number of differences in the action development as well as the characterization of some protagonists between the primary sources for the play and Cary's version has led scholars to suppose that she might have been inspired by other works. This thesis, in fact, argues for a recognition of the significance of a larger use of the biblical and early English dramatic sources, till now little explored, that appear to be at the heart of many exiting details added by Cary to the account of the Jewish historian on Herod the Great and his second marriage. The first chapter offers a survey of the critical studies on the tragedy which, starting from its first modern 1914 Malone Society edition by Arthur Cyril Dunstan and Walter Wilson Greg and through a growing number of books and essays with various approaches to the text throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, seeks to emphasise a scholarly growing interest in the subject matter and the structure of the text, the circumstances in which Cary composed and published her play, as well as the meaning and the importance of this literary work for contemporary readers and spectators. The second chapter constitutes a study of Cary's educational background, mostly reconstructed on the information about her family life and works, included in her biography, which while presenting Cary as a young omnivorous reader of the time, able and encouraged to think critically, explores the historical and literary contexts of the play. The chapter concludes with an updated review of the present state of scholarship on the possible influential material on Mariam, preparing the ground for the literary analysis, respectively, in the third chapter, of the main source of Mariam, and in the fourth chapter, of probable sources for the tragedy, including the Bible and the early English dramas about Herod. The third chapter examines Cary's use and manipulation of the most probable and already quite well-explored historical sources by Flavius Josephus. It focuses upon the ways in which Cary selected the historical events and personalized them as well as the characterisation of some protagonists, constructing her own version of the story of Herod's marriage to Mariamme. This chapter, while discussing Cary's creativity in retelling the Herod-Mariamme myth, highlights her apparently strong alignment with the literary and social conventions of the period. The last chapter is an examination of evidence I have used to support my hypothesis that Cary might have blended more contents and characterizations to enliven the comparatively stark figures of the historical sources, and therefore, their actions. In this section, in fact, I explain in what ways the writer appears to go beyond the historical accounts, pointing to the similarity between Cary's dramatization of Herod, in particular, to different biblical Herods as well as the model of the biblical angry and paranoid stage villain built in early English dramas, and thus, emphasising that Mariam may be considered a compelling example of emerging literally experimentation on the Herod-Mariamme myth.

La mia tesi ha lo scopo di rafforzare l'inclusione di Elizabeth Cary nel canone letterario inglese delle prime donne drammaturghe, attraverso l'analisi delle nuove possibili connessioni con altri testi del periodo che avrebbero potuto influenzare il suo tentativo di riscrittura di un fatto storico, ovvero l'unione di Erode il Grande alla sua seconda moglie, nel dramma The Tragedy of Mariam, pubblicato nel 1613. La mia tesi si sviluppa in due parti. Il primo inquadramento teorico si configura in due capitoli. Il primo capitolo della tesi e' una rassegna critica degli studi relativi alla storia e ricezione della tragedia di Elizabeth Cary, con lo scopo di comprendere al meglio le modalita'  con le quali gli studiosi hanno analizzato, interpretato e raccontato la tragedia negli ultimi cento anni. Partendo dalle informazioni sulla vita privata e professionale dell'autrice stessa, riportate in gran parte nella sua biografia, cerco di confrontare le ricostruzioni ed i giudizi degli studiosi moderni e contemporanei sulla storia ed il significato della tragedia, anche in occasione dell'uscita delle varie edizioni del testo e degli spettacoli teatrali degli ultimi vent'anni; questi ultimi alquanto inaspettati dato che si tratta di un 'closet drama'. Nella sintesi degli studi sul testo di Cary, dopo averne verificato la natura e gli scopi delle varie critiche, traggo le conclusioni che la tragedia e' stata sottoposta a varie e ripetute letture, secondo ritmi e tempi che dipendono dalla situazione storica in cui gli studiosi hanno concepito la propria analisi, ovvero sono intervenuti a rettificare, precisare, o anche cambiare la lettura di Mariam. Nel secondo capitolo, invece, mi interrogo sulle capacita'  letterarie della scrittrice, provando a capire le problematicita' e le dinamiche del suo possibile percorso di apprendimento nella prima eta' moderna in Inghilterra, e quindi anche sulla possibilita' di acceso alle potenziali fonti della tragedia. Questo capitolo, infatti, include anche un resoconto di studi fatti finora sulle fonti della sua tragedia, di particolare rilievo per concentrare la mia attenzione nella seconda parte della tesi, che e' uno studio esclusivamente comparativo su alcune delle fonti primarie dell'opera, sia quelle accertate, ovvero Antichita' giudaiche di Flavio Giuseppe, scritta nel 93-94 A.D. circa, e Guerra giudaica, scritta tra il 69 ed il 79 A.D., oggetto dell'analisi nel terzo capitolo, che quelle meno esplorate, quali la Bibbia e i drammi medievali inglesi; entrambi le fonti sono oggetto dell'analisi nel quarto capitolo. Infatti, una volta approntato l'apparato storico-teorico-critico, entro nel vivo della fase di analisi del testo ed il confronto diretto con le suddette fonti. La tragedia di Cary, a quanto pare, non e' solo un documento storico e socio-politico, che stabilisce l'affiliazione di Cary alle convenzioni letterarie del periodo; puo' anche essere considerata un testo che dimostra le capacita' letterarie di Cary nel rielaborare le importanti fonti storiche sul secondo matrimonio di Erode il Grande, oltre che integrare numerosi elementi nella messa in scena early modern di Erode dalle fonti bibliche e testi teatrali inglesi medievali, di cui Erode fu un indiscusso protagonista. Ogni rivisitazione del mito deve essere considerata come esempio a se stante, specie quando le dinamiche della trama differiscono a volte dal punto di partenza; per questo motivo l'analisi del terzo capitolo serve a ricordare in prima battuta quanto la trama della tragedia di Cary sia relativamente simile al racconto originale di Flavio Giuseppe, per ora considerato l'unica fonte primaria certa di Mariam. Questo studio costituisce la base per un'analisi piu' approfondita della figura di Erode, in particolare, nel quarto capitolo, in quanto risulta essere l'unico protagonista caratterizzato da una massiccia presenza in molteplici testi, scritti prima di Mariam. Sembrerebbe, infatti, che i vari Herod-protagonisti dei racconti biblici abbiano potuto ulteriormente rafforzare il modo di mettere in scena il personaggio di Cary. Inoltre, nel Quattrocento e Cinquecento inglese, numerosi testi teatrali a sfondo biblico si occuparono della figura di Erode, ed il successo che riscossero, resero questo personaggio un autentico punto di riferimento nella storia della letteratura inglese. Dietro il mito di Erode ci fu l'evoluzione di un archetipo; cambiarono gli eventi storici, si modificarono i modi di metterlo in scena, riproponendo tuttavia la sua leggenda; questa considerazione mi ha quindi spinta ad interrogarmi su quanto questo fenomeno avrebbe potuto influenzare la messa in scena di Erode da parte di Cary. Lo scopo della mia analisi e' infatti dimostrare che Cary, a quanto pare, fece ampio uso di svariati testi su Erode; l'autrice riorganizzo' e reinvento' il materiale disponibile su Erode. Il re divenne cosi per Cary un personaggio che raccoglie in se' determinate caratteristiche da diverse fonti, ovvero quelle che alla scrittrice sembrarono essere degne di potenziamento, come il rancore, la rabbia, la feroce volonta' di vendicarsi, ma anche il suo amore senza confini verso Mariamme, che prima di svolgere una qualsiasi funzione sociale, in quanto elementi di una metafora letteraria, servirono sostanzialmente a ricordare il mito stesso.

Esta dissertação realiza um exame da devoção à Maria na cultura brasileira, levando em consideração os cânticos, a partir dos quais focalizam-se aspectos dos epítetos que prevalecem nesses textos. Trata-se de um estudo baseado nos critérios de análises interpretativas, que buscam oferecer subsídios para o entendimento dos hinos marianos na atualidade, visto que a bibliografia que trata do assunto é muito moderada. A análise é feita classificando os tipos dos epítetos identificados. A partir da investigação, é possível perceber que o conceito de uma Maria libertadora é bastante exposto no desenvolvimento dos hinos, já que verificamos uma grande parcela de poemas com o sentido libertador. Maria é indicada como uma verdadeira protetora dos povos; os autores dos cantos pesquisados desenvolveram seus trabalhos colocando em evidência uma santa que está mais próxima dos problemas enfrentados pela sociedade atual. As dificuldades que os humildes enfrentam atualmente são evidentemente lembradas e, na maioria das vezes, focalizadas nos textos mariais com o auxílio dos epítetos apresentados.
This dissertation presents an examination of the devotion to Mary in the Brazilian culture, by analyzing aspects of epithets that prevail on songs of praise. This study is based on the criteria of interpretative analysis aimed at contributing to the understanding of Marian hymns of the present, as not many researches on her epithets can be found in scientific literature. The analysis is done through the classification of the types of epithets identified. From this investigation, it is possible to realize that the concept of a liberating Mary is greatly exposed in the hymns created along the time, as a great amount of poems of a liberating sense were verified. Mary is quoted as a real protector of the people in the songs analyzed, and the authors of these songs of praise refer to a saint who is closer to current problems faced by society. The epithets make clear that difficulties that the humble people face at the present are obviously remembered and mostly focused in the Marian texts with the aid of the epithets presented.

A dissertação discute um conjunto de quatro pinturas de Maria Pardos, produzidas entre 1913 e 1916: Jornaleiro, Sem pão, Chiquinho do Tico-Tico e Sem título, todas representações de criança/infância. Procura analisar as principais características dessas obras, examinando-as no seu contexto de produção e recepção, assim como sua iconografia, percebendo o processo de criação da artista. Enfatiza sua consonância com a pintura nacional e internacional do final do século XIX e início do século XX. Por meio de cruzamento de diversas fontes, visuais e escritas, persegue as estratégias de atuação da Maria Pardos no cenário artístico. Aponta para a construção de cenas de gênero, narrativas da intimidade do mundo privado, levadas aos salões para obtenção de prêmios e reconhecimento profissional. Insere-se em um período de lacuna historigráfica, tanto da história da arte brasileira quanto da história das mulheres. Nesse sentido, foi extremamente necessário a construção biográfica da artista, sem a pretensão de esgotá-la.
The dissertation discusses a set of four paintings of Maria Pardos, produced from 1913 to 1916: Jornaleiro, Sem pão, Chiquinho do Tico-Tico and Sem título, all of them depictions of child/childhood. It analyses the main features of these works, examining them under the context of production and reception, as well as their iconography, considering the creation process of the artist. It emphasizes its consonance with national and international painting from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. By combining several sources, both visual and written ones, it follows the strategies pursued by Maria Pardos in the art scene. It shows the construction of genre scenes, narratives of intimacy of the private world, brought to art salons aiming to awards and professional recognition. It enters a period of historiographic gap in both the history of Brazilian art and women's history. In this sense it was extremely necessary to biographical construction of the artist, without claiming to exhaust the subject.

The city of Santa Maria, RS state, is well-known as a religious center of Marian devotion and is an attraction for pilgrims and visitors, mainly because of the annual pilgrimage of Our Lady Medianeira . Silveira Martins, also in the central region of RS state, emerged linked to Santa Maria as host city of the fourth region of the Italian immigration in 1877. This town maintains a strong devotion for Mother Mary once this image was brought from Italian immigrants. This relation and the characteristics of the popular devotion is what motivated this paper. Its main purpose is to collect data which will allow us to build a religious and cultural itinerary, involving pilgrimage places and devotion to Mother Mary in the central region of RS state, Brazil. As a geographical cut, it was established that the region between Santa Maria and Silveira Martins would be the principal focus of this paper because of all the reasons mentioned above and because of the places selected, as the Sanctuaries and festivities that compose this itinerary, which follows: Diocesan Cathedral, Basilica of Our Lady Medianeira , Sanctuary of Schoenstatt, Church of Our Lady Dores , in Santa Maria; Sanctuary of Our lady of Health and Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pompeii, in Silveira Martins. Methodologically, an exploratory research was used, employing a historical method of procedure, from the technique of bibliographical investigation, of observation and of the qualitative appreciation of the collected information. The conceptual categories discussed told about Cultural Estate, Tourism, and the Catholic Identity of Rio Grande do Sul state, pilgrimage. The main findings are about the characterization of the religious identity of this region as a result of the propagation of the popular Catholicism, characterized by a devotional dimension mainly directed to the Marian cult, expressed currently in popular religious parties like pilgrimages, corteges and promises considered as inheritance of the Portuguese settlers, Indians missionaries, black people, people from Açores and Italian immigrants.
A cidade de Santa Maria/RS destaca-se como centro religioso de devoção mariana, foco de atração de peregrinos e visitantes, principalmente por ocasião da romaria anual de Nossa Senhora Medianeira. Silveira Martins, também na região central do Estado, surgiu ligada a Santa Maria, como sede da Quarta Colônia de Imigração Italiana, em 1877. Esta cidade, hoje, conserva forte devoção a Maria, trazida pelos imigrantes da Itália. Tal relação e as características da devoção popular nelas guardada é que moveu este trabalho. O objetivo principal consistiu em reunir subsídios que permitam construir um guia turístico cultural-religioso, envolvendo locais de peregrinação e devoção à Virgem Maria na região central do Rio Grande do Sul/BR. Como recorte geográfico, estabeleceu-se como foco de estudo a região compreendida no espaço geográfico e culturalmente delimitado pelos municípios de Santa Maria e Silveira Martins, pelos motivos já apresentados e porque neles foram selecionados os Santuários e festas que compõem o guia turístico proposto: Catedral Diocesana, Basílica de Nossa Senhora Medianeira, Santuário de Schoenstatt, Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Dores, em Santa Maria; Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Saúde e Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Pompéia, em Silveira Martins. Metodologicamente, usou-se a pesquisa de caráter exploratório, a partir da técnica de investigação bibliográfica, da observação e apreciação qualitativa das informações coletadas. As categorias conceituais discutidas versaram sobre Patrimônio Cultural, Turismo e Identidade Religiosa Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, Peregrinação e Romarias. As constatações principais dizem respeito à caracterização da identidade religiosa da região como resultado da propagação do catolicismo popular, caracterizado por uma dimensão devocional, principalmente, e voltado para o culto mariano, expresso atualmente em festas religiosas populares com procissões, romarias, promessas e ex-votos, expressões estas consideradas aqui como herança dos povoadores portugueses, indígenas missioneiros, negros, açorianos e imigrantes italianos.

This dissertation presents the photobiography of José Mariano da Rocha Filho, founding rector of Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), pioneer in Brazil since it is the first higher education institution built in a country city. The main goal is recovering part of the Santa Maria citizen of the century life story, the gaucho of the century, the man who participated actively in the city life, bringing to it international attention in the educational area. The methodology is an extended photobiography as a visual narrative consisting of images and explanatory texts which depict and record the life story of José Mariano da Rocha Filho. This information was collected from the private collection of him and the collection of the General Archives Department of UFSM. The chapters are going to describe: the character José Mariano da Rocha Filho, working the genealogy, his birth on February 12th 1915, childhood, youth, memories, student activity, education, marriage with Maria Zulmira Velho Dias, the formation of his family; The struggle for the student movement leadership due to the settlement of a public university away from the capitals; describing his trajectory as a professor and director of the Faculties of Pharmacy and Medicine, the annexation to University of Rio Grande do Sul, the creation of Santa Maria Higher Education Association to the settlement movement higher education courses in the city; Founder of the First Federal University in Brasil located in the country, covering the creation of Federal University of Santa Maria, from the innovative proposal of the New University to the implementation of New University of Americas. From this character approach is possible to understand the relation between the public and private man, we also tried to perceive how the basis of his solid personality were established, his perseverance, the pride of his roots, the love for his home land, his fight for the education, forming cultural heritage legated by José Mariano da Rocha Filho. The iconographic records describe highlighting facts, identify leaderships, intellectuality, emotionalism, and are source of useful stories to comprehend the contemporary scene from the campus José Mariano da Rocha Filho.
Esta dissertação apresenta a fotobiografia de José Mariano da Rocha Filho, reitor fundador da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, instituição pioneira no país na interiorização do ensino superior. O objetivo é resgatar parte da história de vida do Santa-Mariense do Século , o Gaúcho do Século , homem que participou ativamente da vida de Santa Maria-RS, trazendo para a cidade destaque internacional na área da educação. A metodologia é a fotobiografia entendida, como uma narrativa visual composta de imagens e textos explicativos que retratam, registram a história de vida de José Mariano da Rocha Filho. Estas informações foram coletadas do acervo particular de José Mariano da Rocha Filho e do acervo do Departamento de Arquivo Geral da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Nos capítulos são descritos: o personagem José Mariano da Rocha Filho trabalhando a genealogia, o seu nascimento a 12 de fevereiro de 1915, sua infância, juventude, recordações, atividade estudantil, formação, casamento com Maria Zulmira Velho Dias, a formação da sua família; a luta pela liderança do movimento pela interiorização da Educação Superior, descrevendo a trajetória como professor e Diretor das Faculdades de Farmácia e Medicina, a anexação à Universidade do Rio Grande do Sul, a criação da Associação Santa-Mariense Pró-Ensino Superior ao movimento de instalação de cursos superiores em Santa Maria; fundador da primeira Universidade Federal do interior do Brasil, passando pela criação da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, a proposta inovadora da nova Universidade, a concretização da Nova Universidade das Américas. Na abordagem deste personagem é possível compreender que o homem público e o privado relacionam-se, também procurou-se perceber como se estabelecem as bases em que foram assentados o seu caráter sólido, a sua persistência, o orgulho por suas origens, o seu amor à terra, a luta pela interiorização, formando um patrimônio cultural legado por José Mariano da Rocha Filho. Os registros iconográficos descrevem fatos marcantes, identificam lideranças, intelectualidades, sentimentalismos, são fontes de histórias que colaboram para a compreensão do cenário contemporâneo da Cidade Universitária José Mariano da Rocha Filho.

Resumo: Este trabalho é fruto do processo de transcriação do poema de Bertold Brecht "A infanticida Marie Farrar" em uma peça de teatro e um roteiro de curta metragem. Para isso outras fontes literárias e o filme documentário "Camelos também choram" foram fundamentais no processo criativo, assim como os ensaios constantes da peça "Marias". O processo empírico da criação revelou em primeiro plano as histórias a serem contadas no teatro e no cinema
Abstract: This work is a result of the recreation of Bertold Brecht's poem "The infanticide Marie Farrar" in a theater play and a short film. Other sources for this literary and movie-documentary "The story of the weeping camel" were crucial in the creative process as well as the rehearsal for the play "Marias". The empirical process of creation revealed in the foreground the stories to be told in the play and in the movie

O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o surgimento da Pia União das Filhas da Maria na cidade de Goiana em 1906, como um dos mecanismos utilizados pelos bispos romanizadores para controlar as expressões populares do catolicismo, consideradas como ignorância religiosa pelos prelados. No do fim do século XIX e no início do século XX as congregações, vindas da Europa, introduziram novas devoções. Essas congregações religiosas estimularam novas devoções marianas como no caso A Pia União das Filhas de Maria. Através dessas associações os bispos romanizadores vão conseguir o controle das formas tradicionais do catolicismo popular e normatizar os padrões de comportamento das jovens.
The objective of this study is to analyze the appearance of the Pius Union of the Daughters of Mary in the city of Goiana in 1906 as a mechanism used by the romanizing bishops to control the popular expressions consider to be deviations by these prelates. At the end of the nineteenth century and at the beginning of the twentieth, religious congregations introuced new marian devotions as in the case of the Pious Union of the Daughters of Mary. Through theses associations the romanizing bishops will gain the control of the tradition forms of popular Catholicism and to establish norms of behavior of young women.

Introduzione. Il Delirium è una sindrome neuropsichiatrica frequente nei pazienti oncologici. La Memorial Delirium Assessment Scale (MDAS) è uno strumento validato per diagnosi, severità e fenomenologia del delirium. Scopo dello studio: confrontar prevalenza all’ingresso, incidenza durante il ricovero e fenomenologia del delirium, in pazienti affetti da malattia oncologica avanzata in due diversi setting: Hospice e reparto di Oncologia. Metodi. Abbiamo condotto uno studio osservazionale prospettico in pazienti ricoverati nell’Hospice Bentivoglio della Fondazione Hospice MT Chiantore Seràgnoli Onlus (Bentivoglio, Bologna, Italy) (FHS) e presi in carico dalla Equipe di Cure Palliative del reparto di Oncologia della Clinica Università di Navarra (Pamplona, Spain) (CUN). L’MDAS è stato somministrato all’ingresso e una volta alla settimana. Sono state eseguite analisi di frequenza, Test Chi-quadrato Pearson, Test esatto di Fisher, Test Anova e Test Wilcoxon. Resultati. Sono stati arruolati 227 pazienti (176 in FSH, 51 in CUN). La prevalenza di delirium all’ingresso è stata di 46/176 (26%) pazienti in FHS e 11/51 (22%) in CUN (p<0.585). L’incidenza durante il ricovero è stata di 31/176 (18%) pazienti in FHS e di 4/51 (8%) in CUN (p<0.208). Alla dimissione/decesso, il delirium è stato irreversibile in 65/176 (37%) pazienti in FHS e in 3/51 (6%) in CUN (p<0.001). In 32 pazienti è stato possibile confrontare l’MDAS all’episodio di delirium con il successivo. Nei 22 pazienti con delirium reversibile tutti gli item dell’MDAS sono migliorati (riduzione del livello di intensità); nei 10 pazienti con delirium irreversibile, il livello di intensità è rimasto lo stesso in tutti gli item. Conclusione. La prevalenza del delirium all’ingresso e l’incidenza durante il ricovero sono stati simili nei due setting, l’evoluzione diversa: in FSH alla dimissione/decesso ci sono stati un numero maggiore di delirium irreversibili. Con precoce diagnosi e trattamento il delirium può migliorare quando reversibile, può non peggiorare quando irreversibile.
Background. Delirium is a neuropsychiatric syndrome more frequent in advanced cancer patients. The Memorial Delirium Assessment Scale (MDAS) is a validated tool used for diagnosis, severity and measuring phenomenology of delirium. The aim of this study is to compare the prevalence at admission, incidence during hospitalization and phenomenology of delirium in advanced cancer patients in two different settings: a hospice and an oncology ward. Methods. We conducted a prospective observational study of patients admitted at Hospice Bentivoglio of the Hospice MT Chiantore Seràgnoli Onlus Foundation (Bentivoglio, Bologna, Italy) (FHS) and attended by the Palliative Care Supportive Team at the Oncology Ward of the University Clinic of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain) (CUN). MDAS was administered at initial hospitalization and repeated every week. Frequency analysis, Chi-squared Pearson Test, Fisher test, Anova Test and Wilcoxon test were analyzed. Results. 227 were enrolled (176 in FHS, 51 in CUN). Delirium prevalence was 26% (46/176) FHS, 22% (11/51) CUN (p<0.585). Delirium incidence was diagnosed in 18% (31/176) of patients in FHS, in 8% (4/51) at CUN (p<0.208). At the time of discharge/death, irreversible delirium was present in 37% (65/176) of patients at FHS, in 6% (3/51) at CUN (p<0.001). In a subset of 32 patients, MDAS was compared at the time of diagnosis of delirium and one week later. In 22 patients with reversible delirium, all MDAS items showed a reduction in the level of intensity of delirium, but in 10 patients with irreversible delirium, the level of all items reminded at the same intensity. Conclusion. Delirium prevalence at admission and incidence during hospitalization was similar in both settings, but the evolution was different: in FSH at discharge/death, there was a higher prevalence of irreversible delirium. Signs of delirium can improve in reversible delirium and not worsen in irreversible delirium by early diagnosis and proper treatment.

The construction industry has been criticised as being inefficient and fragmented. In response to the continuous dissatisfaction of many client organisations, recent decades have seen the emergence of a spectrum of contracts that embrace different degrees of collaboration promoting the development of integrated approaches to contracts and relationships. In parallel, two other independent significant developments arose to challenge the silo mentality within the industry; Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Lean management. This research explored the integration of these three initiatives with the purpose of incentivising clients to step into a new era of collaboration in construction supported by digital lean processes and advanced technologies.

Tafoya suggests, "Stories go in circles." This thesis is the story of learning to implement an indigenous research paradigm in a college classroom then designing the workshop because of the relationships formed together. First the thesis describes preparing for the research ceremony then focusing those relationships through the lens of Research is Ceremony. Followed by summarizing how the workshop functioned as a ceremony. Then characterizing how the four directions guided the evolution of the relational workshop. The research paradigm exemplified by indigenous scholar Shawn Wilson in Research is Ceremony overlaps nicely with adult educational theories that suggest making personal connections to new information is how learning occurs. Indigenous research is a relationship embodied in the elements of ontology, epistemology, methodology and axiology. Ontology and Epistemology together form each individual's worldview. Ontology questions the nature of reality. Epistemology examines how we think about what is real. Methodology and axiology describe how we remain accountable to the relationships forming our reality. Methodology is how we strengthen our relationship to reality. Axiology defines what's worth knowing more about. Through ceremony, researchers respectfully seek knowledge from the Cosmos. The workshop was a ceremony for asking personal questions about Indian land. A reality-based inquiry design rooted in scholarly practice directed by students was planned and implemented in the pilot workshop. In this workshop, the teacher learns alongside the students - acting as a guide for the self-regulated discovery of new knowledge. Respecting the knowledge and process is the ceremony. The relational workshop wheel graphically depicts the five dimensions of the cycle and their interconnectedness. By asking respectful questions of the unknown, the cycle begins. As a researcher and teacher living a congruent lifestyle and preparing the space for the ceremony, academic information and practical experience collide to devise the methodology and axiology for the journey. Bringing together the ingredients opens the space for the ceremony, where students' questions about the land guide the workshop's search. Reflecting on the knowledge gained while leading the ceremony then evolves the workshop into something accessible to responsive educators. The ceremony creates personal accountability to modify the course, and the wheel turns again.

L'objectiu d'aquesta tesi doctoral és l'edició i l'estudi de la Vida de la sacratíssima verge Maria (València, Nicolau Spindeler, 1494) de Miquel Peres, una de les obres produïdes en el segle d'or valencià i que a hores d'ara encara no compta amb cap edició moderna ni amb estudis que li hagen dedicat una atenció especial. És l'obra més original de les conservades de l'autor, i també la que gaudí d'una major acollida, ja que es reedità diverses vegades tant en el segle XV com en el XVI especialment, i tant en la tradició catalana com en la castellana. Probablement la bona recepció que tingué està directament relacionada amb el context espiritual imperant en l'albada de l'edat moderna, una espiritualitat renovada i de caire intimista que troba en la contemplació devota una de les principals vies d'expressió, i que veiem exemplificada en les pàgines d'aquest volum. Tanmateix, no compten amb cap treball que s'haja ocupat d'editar el text ni d'analitzar-ne la gènesi o la difusió notable de què va gaudir, ja que la producció d'aquest autor ha estat força desatesa. La hipòtesi que motiva aquest treball parteix de la consideració que en els estudis de literatura catalana Miquel Peres no ha estat considerat fins ara com un escriptor de primera línia, i, tanmateix, tant el volum de la seua producció, com les característiques concretes de les seues obres, fan pensar que mereix una reconsideració i un estudi detingut per poder plantejar una revalorització dels seus texts. A través d'aquest treball mirarem de situar la Vida de la sacratíssima verge Maria en el panorama literari i espiritual peninsular, de manera que es pose de manifest l'originalitat que suposà, i que explica l'èxit que se'n seguí, i contribuirem al coneixement de l'activitat literària de la València lletraferida de les darreries de l'edat mitjana i els inicis de l'edat moderna.
