Abstract. This paper investigates the dynamics of logjam-induced floods and alluvial deposition in the Bolivian Amazon and the effects these have on forest disturbance and recovery cycles. It expands on previous work by Gullison et al. (1996) who reported a case of catastrophic floods triggered by logjams in the Chimane Forest in the Bolivian Amazon. No further studies have followed up on this observation and no research has been published on the effects of large wood in tropical lowland rivers. The study is based on the analysis of a time series of Landsat imagery (1984–2016) and field evidence. Results show that logjam-induced floods are a major driver of forest disturbance along the Andean piedmont in the Bolivian Amazon. New logjams form on an almost yearly basis, always further upriver, until an avulsion takes place. Logjam-induced floods are characterized here by the sudden deposition of a thick sand layer and the death of forest in a V-shaped area. The Bolivian Amazon offers a unique opportunity for further research on how large wood affects river behavior in lowland tropical settings and how large and frequent forest disturbance events resulting from river logjams affect forest biodiversity and community successions.

AbstractField surveys and radiocarbon dating of buried logjams in the floodplain of an old-growth forest river demonstrate the formation of erosion-resistant “hard points” on the floodplain of the Queets River, Washington. These hard points provide refugia for development of old-growth forest patches in frequently disturbed riparian environments dominated by immature forest. Our surveys show that local bed aggradation associated with logjams not only influences channel patterns and profiles but leads to development of a patchwork of elevated landforms that can coalesce to form portions of the valley bottom with substantial (i.e., 1 to > 4 m) relief above the bankfull elevation. In addition, logjam-formed hard points promote channel avulsion, anastomosing morphology, and growth of mature patches of floodplain forest that, in turn, provide large logs needed to form more logjam-formed hard points. Hence, our findings substantiate the potential for a feedback mechanism through which hard points sustain complex channel morphology and a patchwork floodplain composed of variable-elevation surfaces. Conversely, such a feedback further implies that major changes in riparian forest characteristics associated with land use can lead to dramatic simplification in channel and floodplain morphology.

För att utveckla eller underhålla mjukvara krävs en viss nivå av programförståelse. För att underlätta denna förståelse används olika typer av verktyg. Denna studie fokuserar på två olika verktyg som använder sig av dynamisk analys: enkla och multipla loggar. Studiens syfte är att undersöka om multipla loggar kan bidra till en ökad programförståelse vid programutveckling. Eclipse är en utvecklingsmiljö som används för att visa programmets källkod. Trace Compass är ett verktyg som används för att inspektera loggar. Denna studie utfördes i två moment: experiment och intervjuer. Experimentet bestod av 10 typiska förståelseuppgifter i ett program-utvecklingssammanhang. Efter experimentet utfördes en intervju med samtliga deltagare.  Resultatet av undersökningen blev att multipla loggar skulle kunna vara lämpligare att använda vid problem som var relaterade till två eller fler komponenter i ett system.  En av begränsningarna i denna studie var att studien hade för få deltagare för ett generellt ställningstagande.
To develop or maintain a piece of code requires a certain level of comprehension of the developed or maintained software itself. To achieve this goal the developer uses a set of different tools. This report will focus on two types of debug tools: single trace and multiple traces. The purpose of the study is to examine how multiple traces can contribute to an improved program comprehension. The study was carried out through experiments and interviews. The experiment consisted of 10 typical comprehension tasks in a development context. Eclipse and Trace Compass were used to display the logs. Eclipse is a development environment that shows the source code. Trace Compass is a tool for inspecting traces.  After the experiment, an interview was carried out with the subjects of the experiment. The results of this study indicated that multiple traces could have an advantage over a single trace when the task is to understand the interactions between code components in a software system. One of the limitations of the study was due to the limited number of subjects taken part in the study and cannot be used to draw a more general conclusion.

Detta är en avhandling om hur vi utfört ett projekt som ger vår kund Ninetech en enkel översikt av loggar. Letande av specifik information såsom loggar i stora system kan vara tidskrävande. Så var fallet för företaget Ninetech. Företagets vilja var därav att ha en webbplats för att presentera loggar i ett översiktligt format. Webbplatsens syfte var att underlätta och minska tiden vid letande efter loggar. Att förkorta tiden är viktigt eftersom loggarna innehåller värdefull information som företaget använder för att lösa supportärenden. Webbplatsen som skapats är en fullständig produkt som levererats till företaget och körs i produktion. I projektet har vi haft en nära kontakt med kund, därav har en agil metod tillämpats. Som resultat har webbplatsen tillfört behovet att finna loggar snabbt och enkelt. Webbplatsen har blivit en del av Ninetechs vardagliga arbete. Störst fokus i avhandlingen ägnas åt vyn som presenterar loggar.
This is a dissertation on how we performed a project that gives our customer Ninetech a simple overview of logs. Searching of specific information such as logs in large systems can be time consuming. This was the case for the company Ninetech. Therefore, the company’s will was to have a website to present the logs in a simple format. The website’s purpose was to facilitate and reduce the time when searching for logs. It is important to shorten the time because the logs contain valuable information that the company uses to resolve support issues. The website created is a complete product delivered to the company and is currently running in production. In the project, we have had a close contact with the customer, hence has an agile method applied. As a result, the website has brought the need to find logs quickly and easily. The website has become a part of Ninetech's everyday work. The main focus of the dissertation is devoted to the view that presents logs.

This degree project is dedicated to Waymark in Stockholm. Waymark is a consulting company where they, among other projects, develops a web application for one of the major banks in Sweden. Today the application is fully functional and deployed at the bank’s application server. Much of the work today is about maintenance but a lot of time goes to solve the bugs that the bank reports back to Waymark. One feature that was considered missing was to read the logs from the production environment in a smoothly manner. This functionality seemed appropriate for a degree project of ten weeks. The work is about solving this task and developing a prototype to be delivered to Waymark during the project. To solve this problem different log-analysis frameworks are tested to see how well they would fit. The web application is written in Java 7 and running on a WebSphere at the bank. The web layer is written in Wicket, jQuery and CSS3. Service layer running JPA2 and Google Guice used for dependency injection. For logging Log4J is used. The result turned out to be a built-in functionality in the application that manages the monitoring of the logs. Through the admin GUI, a specific log page can be opened where the user can read and filter the results to find the desired log messages. Configuration of Log4jJ has been done. Where on disk and how logs are stored has been discussed. Testing of the new functionality has been a high priority throughout the project.
Detta examensarbete är utfört åt Waymark i Stockholm. Waymark är ett IT-konsultbolag där bland annat en intern webbapplikation åt en storbank utvecklas. Applikationen är fullt fungerande och körs på bankens interna server. En funktion som saknades var att kunna läsa loggarna från produktion på ett smidigt sätt. Denna funktionalitet ansågs som en passande uppgift för ett examensarbete på 10 veckor. Arbetet kretsar kring att utifrån den givna webbapplikationen undersöka hur denna funktionalitet skulle kunna se ut samt att utveckla fram en prototyp som levereras till Waymark innan projektets slut. I arbetet granskas logganalyserings ramverk för att se hur väl de skulle passa in i detta projekt. Webbapplikationen är skriven i Java 7 och körs på en WebSphere hos banken. Webblagret är skrivet i Wicket, jQuery och CSS3. Servicelagret kör JPA2 och Google Guice används för dependency injection. För loggning används Log4J. Resultatet blev en inbyggd funktionalitet i applikationen som sköter monitorering av loggarna. Via ett admin GUI kan en specifik loggsida öppnas där användaren kan söka och filtrera resultaten för att hitta önskade loggutskrifter. Konfiguration i Log4J har också genomförts. By using machine learning to monitor and find deviations in log data makes it easier for developers and can prevent a workflow from stopping. The goal of this project is to investigate if it is possible to find anomalies in log data using reinforcement learning. An anomaly detection model with reinforcement learning is compared to a machine learning method traditionally used for anomaly detection. The results show that reinforcement learning has an opportunity for a better or similar result as the traditional machine learning method.

This thesis presents a description of the system of pronominal clitics in the Logar dialect of Ormuri, an Iranian language of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Logar dialect is based in the Logar province of Afghanistan and is near to extinction. The thesis studies grammatical constraints on the occurrence of pronominal clitics in Ormuri sentences. It also investigates discourse factors that influence when a pronominal clitic is used to refer to an entity in the situation that is being talked about, rather than a noun, an independent pronoun, or zero anaphora. My analysis is based on a corpus consisting of fifty-five narrative texts told by Ormuri men and women in Afghanistan in the 1970s, collected and compiled separately by V. A. Efimov and Charles Kieffer. Each text was analysed with special attention to where, when, and how the pronominal clitics were used. Participant reference was analysed using the Default/Marked method described in Dooley and Levinsohn (2001).

Within a clause, Ormuri pronominal clitics may function as subject, object, possessor, or indirect object. A clitic functioning as possessor appears immediately after the possessed constituent. When functioning as subject, object, or indirect object, pronominal clitics are generally placed immediately after the first phrasal constituent of the clause. In some cases, a clitic may be co-referential with a sentence-initial noun phrase that functions as a subject or object argument. When, in this way, a pronominal clitic "doubles" a noun phrase occurring earlier in the clause, the clitic appears after the second, rather than the first, phrasal constituent of the sentence.

In present-tense clauses, an object argument can be encoded as a pronominal clitic, but a subject argument cannot be. In past-tense clauses, on the other hand, the subject argument of a transitive verb can be encoded as a pronominal clitic, but its object cannot be. This asymmetrical distribution of pronominal clitics in past- and present-tense clauses is a remnant of a more elaborate tense-based split-ergative system that must have existed in the past, and which still exists in the Kaniguram dialect in Pakistan.

Regarding the question as to when pronominal clitics (rather than nouns or other encodings) are selected to refer to participants in the discourse world, it was found that clitics are strongly preferred in contexts where they encode a reference to a participant that continues in the same grammatical role that it had in the previous clause or sentence.

The system of pronominal clitics in Logar Ormuri is similar to, albeit not identical to, the systems found in related languages, including Parachi, Persian, and Pashto.

Loggar är en viktig del av alla system, det ger en inblick i vad som sker. Att analysera loggar och extrahera väsentlig information är en av de största trenderna nu inom IT-branchen. Informationen i loggar är värdefulla resurser som kan användas för att upptäcka anomalier och hantera dessa innan det drabbar användaren. I detta examensarbete dyker vi in i grunderna för informationssökning och analysera undantagsutskrifter i loggar från COSMIC för att undersöka om det är möjligt att upptäcka anomalier med hjälp av retrospektivdata. Detta examensarbete ger även en inblick i möjligheten att visualisera data från loggar och erbjuda en kraftfull sökmotor. Därför kommer vi att fördjupa oss i de tre välkända program som adresserar frågorna i centraliserad loggning: Elasticsearch, Logstash och Kibana. Sammanfattningsvis visar resultatet att det är möjligt att upptäckta anomalier genom att tillämpa statistiska metoder både på retrospektiv- och realtidsdata.
Logs are an important part of any system; it provides an insight into what is happening. One of the biggest trends in the IT industry is analyzing logs and extracting essential information. The information in the logs are valuable resources that can be used to detect anomalies and manage them before it affects the user In this thesis we will dive into the basics of the information retrieval and analyze exceptions in the logs from COSMIC to investigate whether it is feasible to detect anomalies using retrospective data. This thesis also gives an insight into whether it’s possible to visualize data from logs and offer a powerful search engine. Therefore we will dive into the three well known applications that addresses the issues in centralized logging: Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana. In summary, our results shows that it’s possible to detected anomalies by applying statistical methods on both in retrospective and real time data.

Annotation:
Teknologi logam dikenal masyarakat mulai pada akhir masa bercocok tanam. Masa awal dikenalnya teknologi logam sering juga disebut masa paleometalik. Pada masyarakat Austronesia, teknologi logam sering kali dikaitkan pula dengan budaya Dongson. Kebudayaan ini berkembang dari Vietnam pada sekitar 1000 SM atau awal Masehi. Dari Vietnam menyebar ke seluruh Asia Tenggara termasuk nusantara. Beberapa benda hasil budaya Dongson yang ditemukan adalah berupa benda-benda perunggu seperti misalnya nekara, bejana perunggu, dan kapak perunggu. Pada masa-masa yang lebih muda yaitu pada masa Hindu-Buddha (Masa Klasik) di Lampung banyak juga ditemukan benda-benda logam. Pada benda-benda perunggu yang berasal dari masa paleometalik seperti nekara dan bejana perunggu mungkin merupakan benda impor. Berdasarkan benda-benda tersebut terlihat ada pewarisan budaya khususnya teknologi pengolahan logam (perunggu) dari masa paleometalik hingga masa Islam-Kolonial. Kajian ini berusaha untuk mengungkap adanya pewarisan budaya tersebut. Pengungkapan adanya pewarisan budaya akan diulas berdasarkan temuan-temuan hasil penelitian di kawasan Gunung Rajabasa. Berdasarkan ulasan tersebut akan diketahui adanya pewarisan budaya dimaksud

Las matemáticas universitarias siguen siendo una de las asignaturas en donde los estudiantes de diferentes profesiones tienen más dificultades, esto debido a diversos factores académicos, inseguridades, malas experiencias, creencias y emociones negativas. Para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje es necesario tener en cuenta todas las dimensiones del ser humano, esto es su sentir, su vivir, su pasado, su presente, sus emociones y sentimientos, por tal razón involucrar todos estos elementos para la mediación entre el conocimiento matemático y el aprendizaje se hace necesario para lograr EL éxito en el desempeño de los estudiantes. Consciente de ello, se realizaron encuestas, entrevistas y observaciones, se analizaron los datos obtenidos y la evolución y/o modificación de las actitudes en las clases. Cambiar la actitud del docente, darle sentido a las matemáticas y a las emociones del estudiante logran modificar la actitud de estos hacia las matemáticas.
