Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe schoolbooks of Greek and foreign literature which are taught at the secondary level of education after the educational reform of 1981 - 85, consist of a consistent and organized unity whose purpose is to serve and justify the existing ideology which is involved-in them. After a rigorous comparison of the objectives of the official syllabus as well as of the values and the stereotypes that have been derived from its content analysis (qualitative and quantitative), which has been implemented on the schoolbooks of literature, we can claim that the three major functions of education (social, cultural, economic) are partially achieved. In fact, the socialization of the Greek adolescents looks like it is formulated through the implementation of a nationalistic ideology that derives from the texts (of literature) and is supported by secondary elements such as introductions, notes and questionnaires. This ideology targets at the adolescents' incorporation within the Greek nation and makes them acquire an identity (conscience) socially, politically and economically autonomous

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn this thesis we have studied the reasons why each book of the literature’s History (1780-1880) was written, the date which marks the beginning of the rupture with the ancien Greek past, the division into literary periods, literary notions presented (utility, love of the homeland, imagination, originality), the criteria of choice of writers who are listed in these books, the bibliographic sources used, the reciprocal influence of the historians, their agreements and their rivalry. We also have studied the references to popular songs, the role of Cretan literature, of the Ionian Islands literature, the preponderance of Phanariot literature and its role in the evolution of neo-Hellenic literature, finally the influence of the translated books on the production of original ones. The books of the neo-Hellenic literature History were based on two pillars: The Mémoire sur l’État actuel de la Civilisation dans la Grèce of Coray in 1803 and the Cours de littérature grecque moderne of Neroulos in 1827, both written in french. Around them a crowd of writers, editors, translators, merchants or just scholars, as well as their books, would identify or compete with each other : E. Philandros (1810) G. A. Manos (1825), C. Coumas (1832), Al. Soutsos (1833), Al. Négris (1829/1835), W. Brunet de Presle (1837), D. Vikélas (1871) and A. Rizos Rangavis (1877)

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis explores the cinematic adaptation of Modern Greek prose fictions from 1960 to 2015, with a focus on the adaptation of Yannis Maris’ detective novels on screen in the 1960s and 1970s. The first part aims to shed some light on the concept of adapting a prose work for the cinema, making use of diverse theoretic approaches, including the Polysystem Theory. The second part adopts a chronological approach to offer a contextualized presentation of Greek and foreign film adaptations of Modern Greek novels, longer novellas, novelettes, and stories from 1960 to 2015 – a practice that appeared early on in Greek cinema. In the third part of the thesis, which mainly focuses on the Polysystem Theory and follows a comparative approach, Yannis Maris’ detective novels are examined from a dual perspective, both as new cultural goods in their own right within the field of reception, and as cinematic works resulting from a creative process that brings a new perspective to the original literary works
Thesis, Paris 4, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016PA040111.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleAt the end of the 19th century, Greek writers created an original genre, the rural novel : a simple plot is the basis for the description of the life and mores in small Greek villages. This movement was called "study of mores" (ithografie) [ηθογραφία]. The historical and economic upheavals at the turn of the century lead to a crisis of traditional values and lead the authors to expand their questioning. In The Beggar, Andreas Karkavitsas shows determinisms which act collective characters that are the peasants of the village and the authorities who came to judge them. The individual always represents a group: Tziritokostas represents the class of beggars, Valachas the aristocratic class toppled over, Croustallo the peasant women. These last two figures are partly aware of their alienation; but the weight of society is such that it crushes them. The freedom is possible just in death. Francoyannou, the heroine of The Murderess of Alexander Papadiamandis, is responsible for the hell in which she locks herself by multiplying little girls murders. Determinism and alienation are the false reasons that allow her to wallow in rumination of her soul cold and hard; she persists in evil because she refuses her freedom of God’s creature
