Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis analyses the Arabic literature of exile and migration produced at the turn of the 2015 "refugee crisis", through a corpus of six novels whose authors differ in gender, age, origin, notoriety and migratory status. The study aims to describe the emergence of a new migrant aesthetic built around the polyvalent and multifaceted experience of "refuge", identifying the different elements of continuity and discontinuity that link contemporary fiction to the canon of the past. Focusing on two novels that draw on the tradition of harraga literature (Abū Bakr Ḥāmid Kahhāl's Taytānīkāt afrīqiyya and al-Arabī Ramaḍānī's Anāshīd al-milḥ), the first part of this work sheds light on the links between texts that recount the experience of clandestine migration and those that focus on the exodus of asylum seekers, bringing out from them the same kind of critical discourse towards Fortress Europe and the hierarchies established by the humanitarian system. Linking the concepts of vulnerability, trauma and resilience, the second part is devoted to the realities of transit and immobility, and analyses the spaces of exception embodied by Palestinian refugee camps (Ḥuzāma Ḥabāyib's Muḫmal) and pre-revolutionary Syria, characterised by a dual reality of regional shelter and repression (Rūzā Yāsīn Ḥasan's Ḥurrās al-hawāʼ). The third part sheds light on the experience of asylum in Europe (Hudā Barakāt's Barīd al-layl and Alī Badr's Āzif al-ġuyūm), allowing the reader to explore the anti-hegemonic representations of notions such as hospitality, identity, belonging and citizenship

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research attempts on one hand, to study the origins of the theme of return and its various forms in Arabic literature : as perceived by contemporary arab writers versus by poets of Mahğar. Then, the shape of the return in classical poetry, especially among poets who have returned back home after a long absence. Eventually, the shape it adopted among pre-Islamic poets, as illustrated in « al-muqaddimaẗ ṭalaliyyaẗ » (the introduction of the ruins). On the other hand, our study intents to explore the theme of return in contemporary Palestinian literature and to demonstrate the peculiarity of this phenomenon among Palestinian returnee authors after Oslo agreements in 1993. Indeed, many of them oftently expressed the failure and disappointment facing the newfound reality. Furthermore, this research addresses the return’s complexity in Palestinian literature. Indeed, two main issues were raised : the first one is related to the phenomenon of return from exile and the second one, to the specific political context of Palestine. These two issues render unique the Palestinian return, a phenomenon in contemporary Arabic literature

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleSummaryAs a result of the changes that have occurred in the latter half of the twentieth century, the world has witnessed a noticeable acceleration of history. This acceleration has manifested itself on many fronts – the historic, the scientific, the technological – but also on the literary front changing forever the way we represent our world and our place in it. This paper deals with the new modes of representation or mimesis in the work of art. How have the events happening outside the novel affected the very form, technique and the language of the contemporary novel? How has the violence that has been inflicted on the outside world being replicated and perhaps resolved in the literary narrative? Because narrative form is in itself a way of ordering and “bringing together” the fragmented events and incoherencies of reality, the very traditional form often violently manipulates this reality with the aim of giving meaning to an often inexplicable reality. By bringing into question the natural and given conventions of narrative, the experimental novels of the twentieth century have tried to realize original and unique forms that are able to represent different experiences. Our paper deals with primarily with these new conventions of representing reality and how, despite their fragmentation, experimentation, and violent rupture with the traditions of the past, they have nonetheless successfully produced “representations” of reality that faithfully capture our contemporary history characterized by acceleration as well as fragmentation. In order to justify this argument, we have compared narratives of fiction with the other two domains from which we derive the knowledge of our past, namely history and memory. Where is the place of fiction alongside these two often totalizing and totalitarian pillars of knowledge? Finally, what can literature do to those subjects of history who have systematically excluded from the writing of their dominant History? By taking the pen to write their side of the story, these “others” of the dominant historical document have both inscribed their particular stories on the existing palimpsest of dominant history, but have also forced the literary canons in which they belong to expand both their aesthetic and ethical boundaries

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe thesis questions the place of childhood and youth literature within Morocco’s editorial landscape and aims at analysing the literary and cultural stakes entailed by a production which often calls upon mediation. In a historical and geographical context such as that of Morocco, characterized by its cultural and linguistic multiplicity, the word “mediation” takes on a very specific meaning. We put emphasis on the mediators implied by this editorial field and on a certain number of “negotiations” which sheds light on the research for a balance between various constraints and requirements. In these mediations, we analyse the questions raised by transferring a text meant for teenagers from its source culture into its target one, concerning a French into Arab translation, as well as the ideological and cultural stakes induced by two different worlds. Resistances at the cultural, ideological and discursive levels can be noted in all kinds of translation strategies. Comparing different intervention trends reveals different ways of implementing this mediation and analyses how ideological and cultural resistances are taken into account

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn the Arabo-Francophone culture, the literary value of narrative fiction often tends to intermingle with its subversive dimension. The present study deals with this problematical notion of subversion considered as a posture and a discursive modality. The disturbances inflicted on linguistic, enunciative and generic codes are analysed under the assumption that the writers' bilingualism and biculturalism favour this type of inspiration and nurture it. Indeed, the poetics of authors as different as Rachid BOUDJEDRA, Albert COSSERY, Edmond Amran EL MALEH, Émile HABIBI and Paul SMAÏL seem to meet around this double belonging, whether it is real or simply assumed. Together, text analysis and authors' postures observation enable us to discern a literary movement in which what is a priori offered as a political literature ends up being a metamorphosis of a literary policy

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe aim of this thesis is to present a rather complete study of Abdelhak Serhane’s novel Les Temps noirs, in order to highlight its literary aesthetic. After contextualizing the Maghrebi literature of French expression, the research is prolonged by a literary analysis of Les Temps noirs, then by a study of the Arab-French hybridity which underlies the literary writing of the Moroccan novelist. Finally, it is to the analysis of Les Temps noirs’s translation in arabic that this research work is dedicated, in order to study the passage of figures of hybridity in the text translated by the author of this thesis while relying on the theoretical and critical contribution of Antoine Berman
Rubino, Marcella. „Religion et violence dans l'oeuvre de Yūsuf Zaydān : les chemins croisés de la fiction et de l'histoire“. Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018USPCF014/document.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe Egyptian writer Yūsuf Zaydān is part of the tradition – dating from the age of the Nahḍa – of intellectuals as "educators of consciousness". Since then, faced with a national narrative controlled by political or religious power, Arab literature has often revisited history and current affairs with the aim of restoring – through the freedom offered by fictional discourse – the truth overshadowed by official history. Through this rewriting process, Zaydān is particularly interested in discussing the relationship between religion, politics and violence. The objective of this thesis is to explore Zaydān’s literary work in order to identify its originality. This originality is manifested, first, through Zaydān's dual profile as both academic and novelist, engaged in varied production that ranges from novels to essays; second, in the specific strategies he employs in order to address his privileged audience: the Egyptian reader. A controversial author in both his work and his personality, Zaydān is above all a literary phenomenon. An example of the blossoming literary field and the exacerbated cultural democratisation in Egypt, his case allows us to better understand ultra-modern Arab literature and what it expresses about the (politically, economically, culturally) recomposed and changing society that have produced it

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleExile is a condition of displacement and a phenomenon that affects great masses of people today. Although this experience exists since the proverbial beginning of time, its parameters are changing in the present context of globalization, which transforms the role of nations and where societies are characterized by greater mobility and cultural diversity. The profound psychological and cultural transformations of identity – inward and outward – to which people are confronted through displacement can be understood as a condition per se, an exilic condition. This condition with moving marks, and which develops in a discontinuous temporality and as a necessarily painful experience, has been the source of prolific literature and of literary studies in the 20th century and before. How, differently then, does the 21st century gaze at this condition ? In this thesis, four works are analyzed in which the authors present different visions of the exilic condition. Two main lines of thinking have been explored around this condition: Edward Said embraced a critical and political posture while Julia Kristeva conceived of exile in its psychological dimensions. Within these analytic perspectives, Mourid Barghouti’s autobiography has affinities with Said’s approach as it inaugurates an autonomous condition. Through Rawi Hage’s novel, a more psychological experience of exile is observed, one that is more violent and traumatic. It sheds light on the undeniable impact of the environment on the experience of exile in the host country. If the relation to the host country stays dysfunctional, a pathological attitude to the exilic experience may develop. Abla Farhoud’s novel explores the possible overcoming of the pathologies of exile through distance, age, time, and words, the distance needed for Dounia. Finally, the psychological limitations of exile can be overcome by translating the “unspeakable” in violence, by a return to the pre-exilic traumas, and by a collective sharing of this restorative work. Mouawad’s play also exposes the psychological dimension of exile, but it also maintains its critical and political ones. We observe through these analyses that the exilic condition demands a redressing of the traumas that preceded exile, understood as another trauma, so that the exiled can exist in an autonomous, creative and committed way in his or her society of adoption. For the last three authors, this society is Québec, which shows openness to, and comprehension of, the major issues of the exilic condition in the 21st century.
