The article is focused on a detailed micro-study describing changes in the behaviour of the authors in three months before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study is based on data from Google Location Service. Despite the fact it evaluates only three people and the study cannot be sufficiently representative, it is a unique example of possible data processing at such a level of accuracy. The most significant changes in the behaviour of authors before and during the COVID-19 quarantine are described and interpreted in detail. Another purpose of the article is to point out the possibilities of analytical processing of Google Location while being aware of personal data protection issues. The authors recognize that by visualizing the real motion data, one partially discloses their privacy, but one considers it very valuable to show how detailed data Google collects about the population and how such data can be used effectively.

In the modern world, where the process of secularization is increasingly deepening, the attitude towards the person, understanding of his nature and purpose are changing. In the system of modern secular humanitarian knowledge of civil rights, man is seen not as an image of God, but as a self-contained object. In this connection, the life of the modern man is changing. Despite the fact that the Orthodox Church has not changed its views on man as an image of God, the lifestyle of its believers is still changing at a rapid pace under the influence of today.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the costs and benefits that young adults perceive to be associated with adopting healthier food, alcohol and physical activity behaviours. Social marketing is used to identify and change behaviours within a segmented audience. The approach uses theoretical insights, and an appreciation of an individual’s environment, and a suite of methods to understand and suggest approaches to change behaviours. Design/methodology/approach – Focus groups were conducted between April and August 2007 with a sample of 54 young adults aged 19-24 years, from the North East of England. Qualitative thematic analysis was undertaken using Nvivo software. Findings – Young adults recognise future health benefits that they could gain from following healthier lifestyle behaviours; however, at their present age, their focus is on benefits such as weight regulation and improving one’s appearance. External competitive forces act against these benefits and result in time and effort costs associated with accepting the proposition of healthier lifestyle behaviours. Originality/value – This paper adds to limited research which has been conducted at the time of “emerging adulthood”, the period of 18-25 years of age. This is despite this being an opportunistic moment in young adult’s lives to encourage them to adopt healthier lifestyle behaviours. Given these results, health messages may need to be reframed to better account for the benefits and costs that young adults associate with healthier lifestyles.

As global lifestyle brands are recognized by consumers worldwide, their business are winning a great success. Now that in Korea too, a large-family culture in which members are accustomed to concession and self-sacrifice is changing to a lifestyle of single households, people care a lot about their own properties, privacy, and personalities. As a result, many original cultures reflect that individuals ‟lifestyles” are emerging. This study suggests development directions for Korean lifestyle brands to grow in line with such social trends and to compete with global lifestyle brands. ObjectivesTo assess the long-term effect on health and well-being of the Lifestyle Matters programme.DesignQualitative study of a subset of intervention arm participants who participated in the Lifestyle Matters randomised controlled trial (RCT).SettingThe intervention took place at community venues within two sites in the UK.ParticipantsA purposeful sample of 13 participants aged between 66 and 88 years from the intervention arm of the RCT were interviewed at 24 months post randomisation. Interviews aimed to understand how participants had used their time in the preceding 2 years and whether the intervention had any impact on their lifestyle choices, participation in meaningful activities and well-being.InterventionLifestyle Matters is a 4-month occupational therapy intervention, consisting of group and individual sessions, designed to enable community living older people to make positive lifestyle choices and participate in new or neglected activities through increasing self-efficacy.ResultsInterviews revealed that the majority of interviewed participants were reportedly active at 24 months, with daily routines and lifestyles not changing significantly over time. All participants raised some form of benefit from attending Lifestyle Matters, including an improved perspective on life, trying new hobbies and meeting new friends. A number of intervention participants spoke of adapting to their changing circumstances, but there were significant and lasting benefits for 2 of 13 intervention participants interviewed.ConclusionThe majority of those who experienced the Lifestyle Matters intervention reported minor benefits and increases in self-efficacy, but they did not perceive that it significantly improved their health and well-being. The two participants who had experienced major benefits also reported having had life-changing events, suggesting that this intervention is most effective at the time when lifestyle has to be reconsidered if mental well-being is to be sustained.Trial registrationISRCTN,ISRCTN67209155, post results.

Affordable housing has long been an important planning and design concern in large urban areas and around the peripheries of major cities where population growth has led to an increasing demand for descent housing environments. The issue of affordability has attracted researchers and scholars to explore planning and design determinants, financing mechanisms, cultural and social issues, and construction and building techniques. This interest has been the case for several decades since affordable housing themes have offered a rich research area that involves many paradoxes that keep presenting challenges for planners, architects, and decision makers. Housing costs are increasing in most cities and incomes are not increasing at the same rate. Governments, on the other hand, are unable to provide sufficient housing stock to bridge the gap between demand and supply due to decreasing housing budgets and the lack of investment.

ABSTRACTWhile research evidence indicates that older adults provide substantial amounts of financial, emotional and practical support to their adult children, little is known about the lifestyle-related drivers of providing such support or how these may be associated with changing late life in late modernity. Emerging popular discourses increasingly portray older adults as a group adopting new lifestyles, pursuing their own interests and rejecting normative family obligations. Using data from the Danish Longitudinal Study of Ageing, we examine first, cohort, age and period trends in the provision of informal support in 1997–2012 in Denmark; and second, the socio-economic and lifestyle factors associated with the likelihood of providing help to adult children. We find notably that, overall, older adults’ provision of informal support to their adult children has increased over time and that active lifestyles do not decrease the provision of support to adult children. However, in later mid-life (52–62 years), having full-time employment and high work-related stress decreases the likelihood of providing help. The results indicate that while older adults play an important role in providing support, external stressors such as work–life imbalance in later life may interfere with their engagement in intergenerational relationships.

Understanding of consumer buying behavior is difficult task as it is influenced by many factors such as cultural, social, personal and psychological. Understanding the consumer’s lifestyle is necessary for the marketers. Consumer needs and preferences are changing due to the change in the factors like demographics and lifestyles. These changes can become great business opportunities for alert marketers and threats for those who fail to adapt. Demographic variables help marketers locate their target market and psychographic variables provide the marketer with more insight about the segment. Psychographics is in common lifestyle analysis or AIO (activities, interests and opinions) research. The major objective is to empirically examine the relationship and impacts of demographic and psychographic variables with brand choice. A conceptual model has been tested with different determinants of demographic and psychographic variables to examine relationship with brand choice. In this study, Activities, Interests and Opinions (AIO) is used to identify lifestyle dimensions and demographic variables (age, education level, profession and Gender) as independent variables and brand choice (Innovation, quality, advertising, and price and reference group) as dependent variable. The results indicated that the lifestyle factors and demographic factors have impact on brand choice variables. The study shows that there was a significant association between the lifestyle of the consumers and the brands of products used by them. From the study it was concluded that consumers often choose products, services and activities over other because they are associated with a certain lifestyle.

Adopting a voluntary simplicity lifestyle (VSL) contributes to a change in consumption patterns towards more sustainable ones, which is urgently needed. This study defines the VSL as a voluntary reduction of income and consumption in exchange for more free time. Our research aims to contribute with more detailed VSL criteria. A literature review develops initial VSL criteria, which are validated against and enriched by data gathered through in-depth interviews with nine voluntary simplicity practitioners. This study contributes with: (1) more detailed insights into the value changes during lifestyle adoption of a VSL, (2) a detailed perspective on significant aspects in VSL adoption as well as how they tend to happen in sequence, and (3) insight into how consumption reduces or changes and how free time is spent when adopting a VSL. A conceptual framework for more detailed VSL criteria, as proposed in this study, is valuable to characterise the VSL lifestyle and differentiate it from other lifestyles. In sum, the study contributes to clearer perspectives on the VSL and provides detailed VSL criteria. Finally, we reaffirm the potential of VSL to contribute toward changing dominant unsustainable consumption patterns and indicate directions for future research.

This article examines attitudes and behaviors regarding marriage, parenting, and lifestyle among former members of communal groups. A follow-up sample of 635 individuals who lived in a variety of communes in the early 1970s was restudied using personal interviews and self-administered questionnaires. Ex-commune members are less likely to have married than others in their age group. Sizable proportions currently live in multi-adult households. The vast majority of respondents hold open the possibility of collective living some time in the future. Attitudes show continuity of ideological criticisms of traditional life styles and a commitment to emotional openness and negotiated role relations within the family. Findings support a cohort-historical explanation of the commune movement. Communal experimentation was both a manifestation of and a contributor to the larger process of family change.

The paper analyzes the main trends of consumer markets in the post-crisis period. Particular attention is paid to the manifestation of global trends in Russia. The increasing value systems and lifestyle fragmentation leads to changes in even such fundamental elements of the human society as gender differentiation and models of family life. The growth of popularity of the economical consumption model is accompanied by a drop in loyalty to brands, as well as by increasing popularity of downshifting and minimalism. In these circumstances, those productsthat are able to take immediately into account several consumption trends and offer complete solutions have the best commercial prospects.

In recent years, in Russia as a whole and in the Belgorod region in particular, a healthy lifestyle (hereinafter - HLS) is gaining more and more popularity, and the attitude of young people towards it is changing depending on many factors - environment, material well-being, health and opportunities. The popularization of sports in the country and in regional educational institutions also has a great influence. The attitude of students of Belgorod universities and colleges towards healthy lifestyle and sports is becoming more serious: this can be seen from the increasing statistics of young people attending sports sections. In social networks, the number of groups and social advertisements devoted to healthy lifestyles, proper nutrition and sports is also growing. Propaganda of this direction began relatively recently, but today has become widespread among Belgorod residents. In addition, young people often jog on the streets of the city, or practice outdoors in open access sports grounds. In view of the prolongation of the pandemic in May 2020, such physical education activities in the fresh air gained mass and excitement. All of the above suggests that the attitude of young people to maintaining health, physical activity and spiritual peace is at a fairly high level. Today's youth is trying to take seriously the topic of health-saving technologies. In this article, the author reveals the concept of healthy lifestyles, explores the criteria for inclusion in a healthy lifestyle of Belgorod students, then analyzes the answers received through the survey and presents them in the form of diagrams.

In order to study the impact of an acute coronary syndrome on the lifestyle changes of the patients, we prospectively studied the long term biological parameters of patients with myocardial infarction. After a median follow-up of 17 months, we noticed a significant improvement in the lipid profile of patients, both due to lifestyle changes and therapeutic compliance. Certainly, the occurrence of an acute coronary event has altered patients attitudes about cardiovascular risk, motivating changing lifestyle and choosing the right therapy.

I examine the ways that bereaved older adults attribute responsibility for their late spouses' deaths, and the consequences of such attributions for psychological adjustment to loss. Data are from the Changing Lives of Older Couples, a prospective study of married persons ages 65 and older. Bereaved persons whose late spouse smoked and had a sedentary lifestyle attributed higher levels of blame to the decedent. Persons who believe that their late spouse's stressful lifestyle and poor health care compliance contributed to the death report significantly lower levels of yearning, yet these effects are no longer statistically significant when marital quality is controlled. Bereaved spouses who believe health care providers contributed to the death report significantly more anger symptoms. The findings suggest that older adults adhere to a “secular morality”; deceased spouses who previously maintained unhealthy lifestyles are viewed as partly responsible for their own deaths.

Morbidity and mortality associated with cardiovascular disease can be significantly modified through lifestyle interventions, yet there is little emphasis on nutrition and lifestyle in medical education. Improving nutrition education for future physicians would likely lead to improved preparedness to counsel patients on lifestyle interventions. An online anonymous survey of medical residents, cardiology fellows, and faculty in Internal Medicine and Cardiology was conducted at New York University Langone Health assessing basic nutritional knowledge, self-reported attitudes and practices. A total of 248 physicians responded (26.7% response rate). Nutrition knowledge was fair, but few (13.5%) felt adequately trained to discuss nutrition with patients. A majority (78.4%) agreed that additional training in nutrition would allow them to provide better clinical care. Based on survey responses, a dedicated continuing medical education (CME) conference was developed to improve knowledge and lifestyle counseling skills of healthcare providers. In postconference evaluations, attendees reported improved knowledge of evidence-based lifestyle interventions. Most noted that they would prescribe a Mediterranean or plant-based diet and would make changes to their practice based on the conference. An annual CME conference on diet and lifestyle can effectively help interested providers overcome barriers to lifestyle change in clinical practice through improved nutrition knowledge.

Objectives: Type 2 diabetes mellitus studies focus on metabolic indicators and different self-reported lifestyle or care behaviors. Self-reported instruments involve conscious process therefore responses might not reflect reality. Meanwhile implicit responses involve automatic, unconscious processes underlying social judgments and behavior. No studies have explored the combined influence of both metabolic indicators and implicit responses on lifestyle practices in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The purpose was to investigate the explained variance of socio-demographic, metabolic, anthropometric, clinical, psychosocial, cognitive, and lifestyle variables on glycemic status and on the ability to adapt to changing demands in people with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus in Monterrey, Mexico. Methods: Adults with (n = 30, mean age 46.90 years old, 33.33% male) and without (n = 32, mean age: 41.69 years old, 21.87% male) type 2 diabetes mellitus were studied. Glycemic status was assessed using Bio-Rad D-10 Hemoglobin A1c Program, which uses ion-exchange high-performance chromatography. Stroop 2 test was used to assess the ability to changing demands. Results: In participants with type 2 diabetes mellitus, less years of education, negative self-actualization, and higher levels of cholesterol and triglycerides explained more than 50% of the variance in glycemic status. In participants without type 2 diabetes mellitus, the variance (38.7%) was explained by total cholesterol, metabolic syndrome, high-density lipoprotein, and self-actualization scores; the latter in opposite direction. The ability to adapt to changing demands was explained by total cholesterol, malondialdehyde, insulin resistance, and triglycerides. In participants without type 2 diabetes mellitus, the contributing variables were metabolic syndrome and nutrition scores. Conclusion: Results showed significant effect on at least one of the following variables (socio-demographic, metabolic, or lifestyle subscale) on glycemic status in people with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus. The ability to adapt to changing demands was explained by metabolic variables but only in participants without type 2 diabetes mellitus. Preference for unhealthy behaviors (implicit or automatic responses) outweighs healthy lifestyle practices in people with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus.

IntroductionThe life expectancy of severe mentally ill (SMI) patients is shortened up to 30 years, due to cardiometabolic diseases, partly caused by unhealthy lifestyles behaviors. In residential facilities, adopting a healthy lifestyle is hampered by the obesogenic environment; an obesity promoting environment.ObjectiveTo determine, the effectiveness of a 12 month lifestyle intervention addressing the obesogenic environment to improve cardiometabolic health of SMI residential patients.MethodsThe effectiveness of lifestyle interventions in psychiatry (ELIPS) trial is a multi-site, cluster randomized controlled pragmatic trial. Twenty-nine sheltered and long-term clinical care teams serving SMI patients in the Netherlands were randomized into intervention (n = 15) or control (n = 14) arm, including 736 patients (73% psychotic disorder, 63% male, 48 ± 13 years). The intervention aimed to improve the obesogenic environment using a small change approach with a focus on nutrition and physical activity. Primary outcome was waist circumference (WC) after three and twelve month's intervention. Secondary outcomes were BMI and metabolic syndrome.ResultsGeneral linear mixed models adjusted for age, gender, housing facility and antipsychotic medication showed that WC significantly decreased with 1.51 cm (95%CI = −2.99;−0.04, Cohen's d = 0.07) in the intervention group compared to control group after three months and tended to remain lower with 1.28 cm (95%CI = −2.79; 0.23, Cohen's d = 0.06) after twelve months. Metabolic syndrome Z-score decreased after three months with 0.225 SD (95% CI = −0.4038;−0.096, Cohen's d = 0.20), mainly due to lower fasting glucose and WC. No significant effects were found on BMI.ConclusionA small change approach targeting the obesogenic environment of SMI residential patients reduces cardiometabolic risk.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

The decline in statistics on public visits to the library draws attention to review. Changing patterns and lifestyles of people shift people's views about libraries. The fast-paced era of digital literacy has shifted people's interest in libraries. Increasing time and era, libraries are no longer used as a lifestyle by the community. Human behavior, which is implemented as a form of architecture, is also known to shape human behavior. The buildings that were originally designed and shaped by humans as their fulfillment will then assist the human way in living their social life and values in life. The old paradigm of society towards the library is an old building that is dark, stuffy, lonely, and even haunted. Therefore it is necessary to have a study of what kind of design can captivate the hearts of today's people so that they can then apply it in an architectural design by studying the patterns and lifestyles of today's society with the aim of obtaining a library design concept that is in accordance with the lifestyle of the community (especially students) today and the reactivation of library building facilities which are increasingly disappearing from the pattern of people's lives.
