Метою статті єздійснення рефлексивного аналізу онтофеноменальної сутності особистості, зважа-ючи на її аксіопсихологічні і смисложиттєві пріоритети. Основні завдання пошукування центруються довкола аналітичного окреслення аксіопсихологічних складових частин особистості, дослідження системи сенсів і смислів людини в контексті її життєвих домагань, віднаходження онтофеноменальних формовиявів екзистенційних запитів людського буття. Методи дослідження: аналізу і систематизації наукової літератури, порівняння та узагальнення, науково-психологічного методологування і соціогуманітарного теоретизування. Результати. Ставлення людини до дійсності та соціального довкілля опосередковується внутрішньо прийнятими цінностями, які становлять екзистенційне осереддя її буття. Формування, розвиток і реалізація моральних, інтелектуальних та естетичних запитів й інтересів особистості у процесі її життєдіяльності опосередковуються системою аксіопсихологічних імперативів, вищим ступенем організації яких є система сенсів і смислів людини. Сутнісне розмежування смислу і сенсу полягає в тому, що перше утримує стратегічні шляхи існування людини у її духовному самоплеканні, а друге опосе-редковується чуттєвим, досвідним сприйняттям особою дійсності, що є основою визначення тактичних пріоритетів її життєактивності. Сенси і смисли людини формуються під впливом її вартісної складової і виявляються у вчинку як сутнісному осередді людського існування. У повноцінному вираженні вчинок завжди є формовиявом духовного розвитку суб’єкта зі сталою системою моральних ідеалів, суспільних домагань, персоніфікованих цінностей і вособистіснених смислів. Висновки. Pезультатом взаємодії людини і світу є віднаходження особистістю певних розумових узагальнень і синтезований вияв її життєвих пріоритетів на шляху до чуттєво збагаченої екзистенції, таланту сприймати та повномірно переживати дійсність, надихати сенсом кожний момент, значуще сприймати фрагмент чи цілісну подію свого буття, насичувати його індивідуально неповторним змістом – творити своє Я у відповідності з персоніфікованими смисложиттєвими орієнтирами. Ключові слова: аксіопсихологія, буття, вартості, сенси, смисли, смисложиттєві орієнтації, цін-нісно-смислова сфера. The purpose of the article is to carry out a reflexive analysis of the ontophenomenal essence of the individual, taking into account his axiopsychological and meaning-life priorities. The main tasks of search are centered around the analytical delineation of the axiopsychological constituents of the individual, the study of the system of senses and meanings of the person in the context of his life aspirations, finding ontophenomenal forms of existential inquiries of human being.Research methods: analysis and systematization of scientific literature, comparisons and generalizations, scientific-psychological methodologization and socio-humanitarian theorizing.Results. The relation of human to reality and the social environment is mediated by internally accepted values, which constitute the existential focus of his being. Formation, development and realization of moral, intellectual and esthetic demands and interests of the individual in the process of her life activity are mediated by a system of axiopsychological imperatives, the highest degree of organization of which is the system of human senses and meaning. The essential distinction between meaning and sense is that the first contains strategic ways of human existence in its spiritual self-expression, and the latter is mediated by a sensual, experienced perception of the individual of reality, which is the basis for determining the tactical priorities of his life-activity. The senses and meanings of a person are formed under the influence of his values component and are manifested in an act as an essential focus of human existence. In full expression, an act is always a form of the spiritual development of a subject with a constant system of moral ideals, social aspirations, personified values and personal meanings. Conclusions. The result of the interaction of human and the world is the finding of certain mental generalizations by the personality and the synthesized revealing of her life priorities on the way to the sensually enriched existence, the talent to perceive and fully experience the reality, to inspire the meaning with every moment, to perceive the fragment or whole event of one's being, to sate it with an individually unique content – to create yourself in accordance with personalized meaning-life orientive.Key words: axiopsihology, being, values, senses, meanings, meaning-life orientations, value-semantic sphere.

Abstract. This paper aimed to assess whether differences in the way to conceive happiness, measured by the Orientations to Happiness measure, were associated with specific reactions to negative events. We hypothesized that among orientations to pleasure (portraying hedonism), to meaning (representing a eudaimonic approach to life), and to engagement (derived from the experience of flow), orientation to meaning would have displayed a stronger protective role against recent negative and potentially stressful events. After providing a validation of the Italian version of the Orientations to Happiness measure (Study 1), we performed regression analyses of the three orientations on positive and negative emotions linked to a self-relevant negative event (Study 2), and moderation analyses assessing the interactive effects of orientations to happiness and stressful events on well-being indicators (Study 3). Our findings supported the hypotheses. In Study 2, meaning was associated with positive emotions characterized by a lower activation (contentment and interest) compared to the positive emotions associated with pleasure (amusement, eagerness, and happiness). In Study 3, only meaning buffered the effect of recent potentially stressful events on satisfaction with life and positive affect. Results suggest that orientation to meaning might help individuals to better react to negative events.

The study results of life meaning, career orientations and emotional burnout syndrome among representatives of socionomic (helping) professions have been described. The purpose of the work was to identify the characteristics of emotional burnout, career and life meaning orientations of the personality and their relationships. To achieve the goal of the study, V. V. Boyko’s “Method for diagnosing the level of emotional burnout”, D. A. Leontiev’s test of “Life Sense Orientations” (LSO), and E. Shein’s “Career Anchors test” have been used. It has been established, that the “Resistance” phase is in the formation stage, the “Stress” and “Depletion” phases were not formed. The leading career orientation of specialists is “professional competence”. As a result of the study, the interrelation of indicators of emotional burnout, career and life meaning orientations, has been identified. High scores on the scales of the LSO: “goals in life”, “life process”, “locus of control – life”, “locus of control – I” have been found. It has been established that career-oriented industrial professionals are more susceptible to emotional burnout. The article is a contribution to the study of various aspects of helping a person experiencing emotional burnout syndrome.

The article analyzes the role of the value component and life-meaning orientations in the formation of tolerance. Features of life meaning and value orientations of psychology students with different levels of communicative tolerance. The importance of the formation of communicative tolerance in students. The article presents the results of an empirical study of the features of value and meaning-life orientations in psychology students with different levels of general communicative tolerance. The study was attended by students of DSTU and SFU in the number of 60 people. Students of the humanities (psychologists) were selected. Of these, 35 are girls and 25 are boys. The age of the respondents is from 18 to 22 years. To confirm the hypotheses based on the assumption that differences in life-meaning and value orientations can be found in psychology students with different levels of general communicative tolerance, we used a set of methods: the method “General communicative Tolerance” by V. V. Boyko, the method of “Life-meaning orientations” modified by D. A. Leontiev, the questionnaire “Value orientations” by M. Rokich. It is empirically established that there are significant differences in the meaning-life and value orientations of psychology students with different levels of general communicative tolerance.

Abstract. The research problem lies in the need to study the contradiction between the high values of life-meaning orientations and the reflexivity of employees of the internal affairs bodies. Purpose of the article: to investigate the indicated contradiction and reveal the peculiarities of the subjectivity of the personality of employees. The analysis and interpretation of the characteristics of the personal development of employees in lifelong education was carried out by the method of clustering the sample using the values of the tests "Life-meaning orientations" D. Krambo, L. Makholik, adaptation - D.А. Leontiev, reflexivity (A.V. Karpov), as well as the subjectivity of a professional's personality and focus on the personal development of an employee, including in lifelong education based on the author's methodology. The work used the correlation analysis of the studied features by means of nonparametric statistical criteria (Spearman's rank correlation coefficient), cluster analysis. As a result of the study, it was revealed that reflexivity, orientation towards development in professional activity and focus on continuing education in clusters are expressed unevenly. The hypothesis of a strict inverse relationship between manifestations of reflexivity and life-meaning orientations was not confirmed. At the same time, a feature of the subject-personal orientation of employees is an insufficient connection between reflexivity and high values of meaningful orientations, subordination of the personal principle to the "professional role and position" (according to the terms of V.A. Lefebvre) due to the subordination and discipline in the profession, as well as the substitution of the moral imperative with legal norms. Strategies with extremely high values of life-meaning orientations of adult employees of internal affairs bodies, which have a negative correlation with reflexivity, regardless of subjectivity or the severity of orientation towards development in the profession, are assessed by us as unfavorable for personal development.

The study aimed at exploring the relationship between religious orientation and the meaning of life on one hand, and religious orientations and irrational thinking on the other hand. It also aimed at exploring the relationship between the meaning of life and irrational thinking. The basic sample comprised 585 participants from university students in Jeddah, who were randomly selected from various humanities, religion and science majors. Research instruments included a religious orientation scale, meaning of life scale, and thoughts and beliefs scale. The study found: (1) a positive correlation between meaning of life and each of the intellectual cognitive religiousness, emotional enthusiastic religiousness and original true religiousness; (2) a negative correlation between meaning of life and ritual opportunist religiousness; (3) a positive correlation between irrational thinking and and each of the intellectual cognitive religiousness, ritual opportunist religiousness and emotional enthusiastic religiousness; and (4) a negative correlation between the meaning of life and the inflexibility of thinking which is one aspect of irrational thinking.

The problem of suicide is investigated, namely, different interpretations of suicide in philosophy and psychology are compared. Three different axiological positions of the individual that can become life orientations to suicide are presented. This is an egoistic attitude "from people", expressed in indifference; an altruistic attitude "to people", expressed in self-abasement of a person; an anomic attitude "against people", expressed in aggression. The value of death is presented as an imaginary alternative to life, as an antipode and negation of its meaning, which can become a goal. The hermeneutical method of interpretation of texts is applied. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the illusory nature of value orientations on suicide.

The aim of this essay has been the evaluation of three orientations towards happiness: pleasure, meaning and engagement, as well as their relation to life satisfaction and the perception of happiness in a sample of 320 university students. The results show that the most used kind of orientation towards happiness is pleasure, followed by meaning, and finally engagement. It has also been found that pleasure is the orientation most closely associated to happiness while engagement seems to be more related to life satisfaction. These findings aim to the distinction between the concepts of happiness and life satisfaction and lead the attention to the actions which can improve the levels of happiness.

The article presents the results of the study of the life-meaning orientations of the penitentiary system staff and how they are related to their biopsychological age. The sample consisted of 70 individuals - 42 men and 28 women. The average age of the staff was 31 and their average length of service was 7.6 years. The study used "The Purpose-in-Life orientations" test (Leontyev D.A), the "Spirituality" scale in the "Resilience of adults" method (Makhnach A.V.) and the psychobiological age research method by Abulkhanova K.A. and Berezina T.N.. For statistical treatment of data we used t-test for independent samples, correlation and multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that men have higher indicators of biological and psychological age, accelerated rate of biological aging. The health status of employees improves as they become more spiritual, achieve life goals, increase productivity, and are satisfied with self-realization. The following factors serve as predictors of biological age and rapidity of ageing: gender, length of service, life goals, acceptance of life events and psychobiological maturity.

The article is devoted to the relationship between the type of crime for which the convicted person is serving a sentence, the level of education, the presence of socially useful connections, the age of the convicted person and the level of his life orientation, which includes such indicators as: the general indicator of the meaningfulness of life, goals in life, the process of life, the effectiveness of life, the locus of control – I, the locus of control – life. The attitude of convicts to such vital components as: health, family, future, self-realization in work was also studied. The study used the "Test of life-meaning orientations" by D. Crambo, A. Maholik in the adaptation of D. A. Leont'ev, and the color test of relations by A. M. Etkind. In order to study life-meaning orientations and preferences in different spheres of life, 93 convicts serving sentences for various crimes were examined. The results of the study of convicts’ personality characteristics can be used by correctional officers to identify problematic aspects in the development of convicts’ personality, develop programs aimed at solving these problems and develop the strengths of convicts’ personality.

This paper explores gifted girls' perceptions on the meaning of life. Ninety-five gifted sixth-grade students completed tests on moral reasoning (DIT) and spiritual sensitivity. Two illustrative cases of girls who had either high or low scores in the tests are presented with phenomenological analysis of their perceptions on the meaning of life. The cases of Jean and Susan show that students with similar academic profiles can have very different world-views and orientations in life. These differences are reflected in their spiritual sensitivity and moral judgment. Furthermore, the world-views can guide gifted girls in their career choices more than their academic strengths. The main challenge to teachers and counsellors is to guide gifted girls to make career choices that make them happy. The counsellors need to show gifted girls that their professional choices can suit their personal life orientations. In this process educators should be aware of the world-views of gifted girls.

The psychological support of such families, providing them with the psychological assistance should begin with the search for new life meanings, the adoption of new values. The article describes the results of a study of changes in the value meaning sphere of parents raising children with serious disabilities. The article contains an analysis of domestic and foreign studies of family psychology, issues of early childhood autism. There are the description of empirical data from the study of changes in the life-meaning orientations of parents after the birth of a child with ASD, presentation of the results of a comparative analysis of life-meaning orientations and values for both group of parents. As a result, possible ways of helping parents raising a child with autistic symptoms were outlined.

The article studies correlations between motivational-meaning orientations and personal factors for patients having diabetes mellitus. The study involved 79 people undergoing treatment for diabetes mellitus at the Kiev City Endocrinology Center: 31 men, 48women, with average age of 52.22, σ = 16.61. The following methods were used: “Diagnostics of the motivational structure of personality” (Milman, 1990), “Meaningful life orientations” (Leontiev, 2000) and “Five-Factor Personality Questionnaire” (Khromov, 2000). The motives of support were significantly more important than the motives of development for patients with diabetes mellitus, which indicated the regressive personal tendencies. As for meaningful life orientations, the indicator of goals was low, the indicators of satisfaction with a life process and life results were somewhat more optimistic. The results for the indicators of the locus of control-Self and the locus of control-life were different: locus of control-Self was low, but locus of control-life was sufficient. That is, the respondents believed in the fundamental capability to manage their lives, but they did not believe that they were able to manage it themselves. The obtained data are consistent with the results of other authors on the externality of the locus of control for such patients. Men with diabetes mellitus more often, in comparison with women, see life meaning in its results, feel themselves masters of their own lives, and are guided in their behavior by motives of life support. As for the analyzed personal traits, low values were obtained for all factors identified with the Five-Factor Personality Questionnaire. “Playfulness-practicality” factor turned up to be the lowest, which reflected that the studied people had tendency to be closed to new experience, afraid for changes but to be more practical, realistic, focus on adaptation to everyday life, and be concern about the material side of life. The revealed correlations of motivational-meaning orientations with personal traits for patients with diabetes mellitus were weak and of a low significance, therefore, they rather allow us to speak about tendencies than about regularities. These tendencies, first of all, include the specific refraction of motivational-meaning orientations through the respondents’ personal traits changed because disease, namely, egocentrism, a low prosocial orientation, the external locus of control, rejection of new experience, suspiciousness, misunderstanding of other people and focusing on one’s own problems.

The results of a theoretical and empirical study of the image of the future, its functions are presented, predictors of the image of the future are identified, which are associated with its formation, they are conscious self-regulation associated with the image of the future through procedurality and active implementation of the planned, as well as life-meaning orientations that act as cognitive semantic fullness of the modus of the future. Their role in the formation of the image of the future, the influence on its qualitative and quantitative assessments at the stages of early and middle adulthood is determined. The hypothesis is verified that at the stages of early adulthood there is a reorientation, the specificity of life-meaning orientations and their stability are formed. It is shown that a high orientation towards the future, the relevance of self-determination, as well as a situation of uncertainty in front of the future remain, in this regard, self-regulation plays a leading role in the formation of the image of the future. At the stage of middle maturity, the consolidation and implementation of life meanings and plans, the active embodiment of the image of the future, are already taking place, while self-regulation fades into the background. It was found that the qualitative and quantitative assessments of the image of the future at different stages of adulthood are specific.

The article is devoted to the problem of transformation of family values, the emergence of new types of families in the context of modern marriage. The authors believe that in post-Soviet society in Russia, the axiological approach is the most heuristic in the study of marriage. The authors used a psychological analysis of the life-meaning orientations of spouses with a traditional type of marriage and spouses focused on voluntary childlessness. The results of the study showed that the specifics of life and life orientations of the husband and wife, their personal characteristics determine the attitudes and expectations of marital relations, the choice of the type of family. It was revealed that the life orientations of spouses who support voluntary childlessness are contradictory: men, when they are dissatisfied with their lives in the present and not confident in their abilities, focused on getting pleasure as the meaning of life here and now; and the wife, experiencing the riches of his life, demonstrating the confidence, commitment to the future, a higher meaning of life. Spouses from the traditional type of family are both happy with their lives. At the same time, husbands are characterized by an average level of meaningfulness of life, focus on the implementation of current tasks, and wives with a high sense of life are focused on the future, are confident in the possibility of building a life in accordance with their ideas about its meaning and life goals.

The current threat of the COVID-19 pandemic has crucially changed the familiar life and caused the shift in all spheres including the professional one. Ambiguity of the nearest future and anxiety about oneself health have shifted the sphere of trade into online format. The purpose of the research was to study correlations between life-meaning and value orientations and professional motivation, and ambiguity tolerance of sales department employees. The theoretical grounds of the research are the concepts of meaning-value sphere and life-meaning orientations (Abakumova I.V., Baumeister R.F., Kruteleva L.J., Leontiev D.A., Rokeach M., Yanitskiy M.S., Seryy A.V., Schwartz S.H., etc.); professional motivation (Abakumova I.V., Barabanshchikova V.V., Ivanova S.A., Klimova O.A., etc.) and ambiguity tolerance (Asmolov A.G., Shekter E.D., Chernorizov A.M., etc.). The sample comprised 49 sales department employees aged 22 to 49 with the professional experience from 1 to 9 years. The empirical research includes the following techniques (adapted into Russian): Purpose-in-Life Test, Rokeach Value Survey, Career Anchors, Work Motivation Inventory, and Multiple Stimulus Types Ambiguity Tolerance Scale-I. The results indicate the life-meaning orientations and the general level of life meaningfulness do not correlate to ambiguity tolerance. Values of private life help to cope with the changing circumstances. The forced transformation of the professional activity frustrates respondents to achieve professional self-realization, facilitates the sales department employees to promote new products and services.

Life-purpose orientations and self-reflection are important factors in person-al meaning regulation. Anyone living in the transitive society of today does not exercise full control over his or her life activity due to various factors of indefiniteness. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, starting at the beginning of 2020, swept the world and is now considered to be a global indefiniteness factor. Life indefiniteness that grew with the pandemic is a supplementary stress factor, the one that can be treated as either distress or eustress. This article is aimed at showing the results of an empirical study of differences in the life-purpose orientations and self-reflection in young unmarried females being trained in psychology in the city of Rostov-on-Don in March 2017 (n=53) and in October 2020 (n=43), that is prior to and during the pan-demic, which may be considered as different indefiniteness effects in life. D.A. Leontyev’s “life-purpose orientations” test and I.A. Stetsenko’s self-reflection questionnaire were implied in the study. Growth of all mean indicators in both tests during the pandemic against the same indicators prior to the pandemic, was revealed. Differences in all parameters are statistically veratious, which was stated by the Mann-Whitney test. The empirical study established that the pandemic may be viewed in respect of the examined acmeologically homogenous category as eustress, i.e. an overcomable indefiniteness factor. The above eustress resulted in a positive reconstruction of meaning regulation processes and in psychological adaptation, which lead to the growth of the level of life orientation meaningfulness and self-reflection among the respondents.

Представлены результаты теоретико-эмпирического исследования ценностно-смысловых факторов самоопределения предпринимателей в их отношении к деловому партнерству. В качестве содержания ценностно-смысловой сферы рассматривались смысложизненные и ценностные ориентации личности. Психологические отношения предпринимателей к базовым принципам делового взаимодействия - прагматичности и нравственности, а также оценки процесса и результата делового взаимодействия рассматривались как характеристики их самоопределения . Выявлена взаимосвязь важности прагматичности и нравственности как принципов делового партнерства со смысложизненными и ценностными ориентациями личности. Ориентация предпринимателей на прагматичност ь связана с двумя показателями смысложизненных ориентаций - «Цели в жизни», характеризующим целеустремленность, наличие целей в будущем, и «Локус контроля-Я (Я-хозяин жизни)», характеризующим представление о себе как о сильной личности, обладающей достаточной свободой выбора, чтобы контролировать события собственной жизни. Ориентация предпринимателей на нравственность взаимосвязана с таким показателем смысложизненных ориентаций, как «Процесс жизни или интерес и эмоциональная насыщенность жизни», который отражает удовлетворенность своей жизнью в настоящем, восприятие ее процесса как интересного, эмоционально насыщенного и наполненного смыслом. Высокая значимость общечеловеческих гуманных ценностей совместной жизнедеятельности (семьи, любви, доброты) оказалась положительно связана с эмоциональной удовлетворенностью деловым партнерством, в то время как высокая значимость индивидуалистических, прагматических (материальной обеспеченности и богатства) - отрицательно. Результаты исследования подтверждают релевантность рассмотрения смысложизненных и ценностных ориентаций личности в качестве факторов и основания самоопределения предпринимателей в деловом взаимодействии. The results of theoretical and empirical research of value-sense factors of self-determination of entrepreneurs in their relation to the business partnership were presented. The content of the value-sense sphere considered to be the meaning and value orientations of the individual. The psychological attitude of entrepreneurs to the basic principles of business interaction - pragmatism and morality, as well as assessment of the process and result of business interaction were considered as characteristics of their self-determination. The relationship between the importance of pragmatism and morality as principles of business partnership and the understood and value orientations of the individual has been revealed. The orientation of entrepreneurs on pragmatism connected with two indicators of understood orientations - "Goals in Life," which characterizes determination, presence of goals in the future, and "Locus of Control-I (I am the master of life)," which characterizes the perception of myself as a strong person, having sufficient freedom of choice to control the events of his own life. The orientation of entrepreneurs to morality is interrelated with such an indicator of meaning orientations as "Process of life or interest and emotional saturation of life," which reflects satisfaction with its life in the present, perception of its process as exciting, emotionally saturated and filled with meaning. The high importance of the universal humane values of joint life (family, love, kindness) was positively related to emotional satisfaction with a business partnership, while the high importance of individualistic, pragmatic (material security and wealth) was negative. The study results confirm the relevance of considering the meaning and value orientations of the individual as a factor and basis of entrepreneurs' self-determination in business interaction.

In organizations, psychologists have often tried to promote employees’ well-being and performance, and this can be achieved through different pathways. The happy-productive worker thesis states that ‘happy’ workers perform better than ‘unhappy’ ones. However, most studies have focused on hedonic well-being at the expense of the person’s eudaimonic experience. This study examines whether orientations to happiness (i.e., life of pleasure/meaning) are related to hedonic (i.e., perception of comfort) and eudaimonic (i.e., activity worthwhileness) experiences that, in turn, improve performance. We applied multilevel structural equation modeling to diary data (68 office workers; n = 471 timepoints). We obtained significant effects of: life of pleasure on self-rated performance through activity worthwhileness, life of meaning on performance (self-rated, rated by the supervisor) through activity worthwhileness, and life of meaning on performance rated by the supervisor through perception of comfort. Results show more significant paths from/or through eudaimonia to performance than from/or through hedonia. The results suggest that the pursuit and/or experience of eudaimonic happiness is more beneficial for work performance than the pursuit and/or experience of hedonic happiness. Theoretical and practical implications for organizations are discussed.

Peterson, Park, and Seligman (2005 ) developed the Orientations to Happiness (OTH) questionnaire to measure three routes to happiness: life of pleasure (hedonism), life of engagement (flow) and life of meaning (eudemonia). The questionnaire was translated into German in several steps (independent translations by five experts, creation of the initial version by committee approach, retranslation, modification, and final version). Data were collected in paper-pencil (N = 1,152) and Internet samples (N = 4,174). The OTH scales showed satisfactory internal consistencies (.63 ≤ α ≤ .76) and stability across 6 months (all ≥ .63). The factorial structure of the German OTH was analyzed (RMSEA ≤ .074 and SRMR ≤ .043 for the 3-factor solution) in both samples. Tucker’s Phi coefficients for factorial congruence between the two samples were .99. The three scales were positively intercorrelated. The endorsement of the life of pleasure was higher in younger, unmarried, and nonreligious participants. The life of meaning was more pronounced among the religious participants. There was a good convergence (all > .49) between homologous scale of the self- and peer-form, and the OTH predicted behavior in prototypical pleasure, engagement, and meaning situations. Most importantly, high scores in each of the orientations to happiness corresponded to higher degrees of overall satisfaction with life.

The program approbation results proved its effectiveness by increasing the meaningfulness of adolescent’s from informal unions life, their reflexivity, quantitative characteristics of the meanings system while reducing the meaning of life crisis and negativism manifestations.

The article summarizes scientific approaches to the problem of the meaning of life in different foreign and domestic psychology. The main ways and sources of meaning of a person's life are analyzed. Three groups of meaningful life values are singled out and described, due to which a person can make his life meaningful (values of creativity, values of experience, values of attitude). The basic patterns of the perception of the meaning of life are described during different age stages of personality: teenage, adolescence, adult age, old age. Particular attention was paid to psychological features in the perception of the meaning of life in teenage and adolescence, when there is an active development of self-awareness is taking place. It is the beginning of a conscious sense of being life defined. Socio-psychological factors, that influence the formation of life goals and value orientations of the individual in the process of ontogenesis are determined. There are critical periods in the perception of the meaning of life, namely: the stage of personality formation (teenage and adolescence), the crisis of mid-life and the crisis of old age. The tendencies of increasing and decreasing satisfaction of one's life are singled out and analyzed. The essence of the meaning of life problem of death is outlined.

This paper addresses the development of a 9-item Short Form of the Orientations to Happiness (OTH) Questionnaire ( Peterson, Park, & Seligman, 2005 ) for German-speaking countries. This questionnaire measures three ways to happiness: life of pleasure, life of engagement, and life of meaning. In Experiment 1 (replication sample, N = 1,336), we replicated the three-factor structure found in the 18-item Parent Form. In Experiment 2 (validation sample, N = 222), we again replicated the three-factor structure, which showed a good fit to the data. The coefficients of congruence between the three factors in Experiments 1 and 2 were very high (.94–.98). The correlations between the corresponding scales of the Short and Parent Form were high (.49 – .91). The three scales of the Short Form had acceptable internal consistency. The pattern of relationships of both the OTH Short Form and Parent Form with sociodemographic variables, with the endorsement of prototypical behaviors related to the three orientations to happiness, and with meaning in life were very similar for both OTH forms.

The article devoted to the study of the influence of the value-semantic sphere of an individual, namely, life-sense orientations, on its virtual image in the Internet space. The article provides a critical analysis of the literature devoted to the study of the value-semantic sphere of personality and virtual personality in the Internet space. It was determined that the value-semantic sphere as a complex dynamic construct of the personality determines its inner world and sets the vector of its activity. Also, during the analysis of the literature, it was revealed that the system of meanings and values determines the choice of behavioural patterns of the personality, and also acts as a censor to assess the events and phenomena that it encounters. The study analysed the virtual personality of an Internet user as a psychological phenomenon; it describes such properties of a virtual personality as virtuality (the degree of acceptance of virtual reality as an environment in which social life is feasible), involvement (the level of knowledge of information and computer technologies and a sense of belonging to a virtual society) and orientation (the presence or absence of ideas about socially approved behaviour in Internet society). The article also analyses the results of an empirical study of the influence of the component of the meaning-life orientations of the value-semantic sphere of the individual on the properties of his virtual image. It was determined that there is a direct connection between the indicator of the life process and the level of involvement of the virtual personality (people with the perception of their life as filled with meaning and emotionally saturated in the Internet space have developed motivation for life activity) and that there is a direct connection between the indicator of the result of life and the level of orientation of the virtual personality (people with a subjectively assessed high level of self-realisation in the Internet space show a tendency towards normative behaviour).

This study combines three orientations, namely existential thought about the meaning of ‘being’ and ‘existence,’ phenomenological insights into ‘lived experience,’ and anthropological endeavor at what it means to be human. It attempts to focus on the human conditions by directly engaging with human beings. Specifically guiding itself with the questions such as how young people engage in the meaning-making of their lived experiences in their life course’s ever-changing process. Taking its theoretical insights and inspiration from existential and phenomenological anthropology, by zooming in on lived experiences, the research was conducted using life story interviews to collect the narratives to gain understandings into the life-worlds as it is lived and made sense of by young people of Tando Ghulam Ali, a rural town of District Badin, Sindh. Based on the ethnographic data and observations, it is argued that the meaning-making of lived experiences was different among research participants with a strong presence of selfhood and self-consciousness temporally and affectively; the difference in orientation towards life is entangled with personal history as well. This research went beyond the horizons of culture and society to put existence, life, and being, which are silhouetted at meta-level, at the heart of anthropological focus. This research is an experimental research project in anthropology, which has attempted to step its foot into the human condition's terra incognita, which calls for anthropologists’ further exploration.

The subject of this research is the problem of the meaning of life in Russian philosophy and in perception of modern students. Based on the analysis of essays on the topic “The problem of the meaning of life in Russian philosophy and personal perspective on the problem” written by the students of Altai State University, it was determined that the students understand the positions of Russian philosophers in this regard, accept or reject certain points of view described in their philosophical works. Main attention is given to the personal perspective of students on the meaning of life. The article compares the results of analysis of the essays with sociological research presented in the literature. The author revels the life-meaning orientations of modern student youth and their stance on one of the fundamental problems of Russian philosophy. Freedom in choosing the path of life, and right to seek their meaning in life, fulfilling of personal creative potential, good intentions – these are the ideas of Russian philosophers most affined to modern students. The students expressed both negative and positive opinions on the writings of Russian philosophers, which is an expected result of comprehension of a profound topic and attempt at self-determination in modern realties.

The problem of suicide is investigated, namely, different interpretations of suicide in philosophy and psychology are compared. Three different axiological positions of the individual that can become life orientations to suicide are presented. This is an egoistic attitude "from people", expressed in indifference; an altruistic attitude "to people", expressed in self-abasement of a person; an anomic attitude "against people", expressed in aggression. The value of death is presented as an imaginary alternative to life, as an antipode and negation of its meaning, which can become a goal. The hermeneutical method of interpretation of texts is applied. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the illusory nature of value orientations on suicide.

The article discusses theoretical approaches to the characteristics of an addicted person, investigates the factors of dependence on the internet, the causes of addiction and psychological characteristics of an addicted person. Based on the study and analysis of scientific literature, the designation of dependence on the internet as a behavioral disorder that has a destructive effect on many aspects of human life is substantiated. The new formation of student age is the problem of the meaning of life. In recent years, the relevance of studying the transformation of the value system of students has increased, which makes it possible to predict the social and cultural consequences of the objective process of informatization, covering all spheres of human life. The idea of the models for the implementation of the pathological use of the internet, the issues of the defense mechanisms of the personality, the system of values and worldviews that determine the meanings of a person, significantly expanded the framework of the description and definition of the studied phenomenon. The aim of the current work is to study the relationship between internet addiction and the system of life meanings among students. Materials and methods: analysis of scientific literature, questionnaires, testing, including author’s questionnaire supplemented by mat. statistical methods. In our study of the influence of internet technologies on internet addiction, on the value system of a student’s personality, we identified differences in groups and correlations between internet addiction, defense mechanisms, personal characteristics and value orientations of the personality.

In the digital era, the success of the professional development of future specialists in the process of obtaining higher education largely depends on their professional orientation (PN). Despite the significant interest in the subject of the study, the problem of identifying the factors that affect PN remains poorly understood. The purpose of the study is to determine the factors of the formation of PN of students enrolled in training and retraining programs, and the features of PN in the digital era. The article reveals the content and structure of the PN of future specialists in the era of digitalization. According to the results of the empirical research, the relationship of students' PN with indicators of life-meaning orientations, motives for choosing a profession and training was revealed; the relationship between students' life-meaning orientations and indicators of motives for choosing a profession and training at the stage of digitalization of education. The factors influencing the personal condition, and the factors of the formation of the personal condition of students, who are trained according to the programs of training and retraining of specialists, have been determined. As a result of an empirical study, it was concluded that a negative impact on the formation of PN is created by factors caused by various life circumstances, lack of independence of decisions in choosing a profession, low reflection of life goals, prospects for the future, rigidity of volitional and personal qualities, internal conflict in the structure of personality relationships, low pleasure training and the like. At the same time, the level of PN is significantly higher among students who receive a second higher education and who understand its importance at the stage of digitalization of education.

Представлены результаты теоретико-эмпирического исследования взаимосвязей смысложизненных и ценностных ориентаций личности предпринимателей и показателей их экономического самоопределения. Результаты корреляционного анализа показали наличие множественных статистически значимых связей смысложизненных ориентаций предпринимателей с показателями их экономического самоопределения. Наибольшее число обнаружили шкалы «Процесс жизни или интерес и эмоциональная насыщенность жизни» и «Локус контроля - жизнь или управляемость жизни». Высокая значимость ценностей, объединенных Ш. Шварцем в блоки «открытость изменениям» (самостоятельность и стимуляция) и «самовозвышение» (власть и достижения), в сочетании с высокой значимостью ценности «гедонизм», которая, по Шварцу, составляет отдельный блок и включает элементы как открытости изменениям, так и самовозвышения, которые положительно коррелируют с показателями экономического самоопределения, характеризующимися позитивными оценками своей деловой активности и динамики ее изменения, отношения к конкуренции и риску, собственных возможностей в повышении успешности своего бизнеса и успешности своей предпринимательской деятельности. Результаты исследования подтверждают правомерность рассмотрения смысложизненных и ценностных ориентаций личности в качестве факторов самоопределения предпринимателей. The article presents the results of a theoretical and empirical study of the interrelationships of the meaning-life and value orientations of the individual entrepreneurs and the indicators of their economic self-determination. The results of the correlation analysis showed the presence of multiple statistically significant relationships between the meaning-of-life orientations of entrepreneurs and indicators of their economic self-determination. The scales "Life process or interest and emotional saturation of life" and "Locus of control - life or manageability of life" found the greatest number of correlations with indicators of economic self-determination. The high importance values, the United Schwartz block "openness to change" (self-direction and stimulation) and "self-exaltation (power and achievement) combined with high significance values "hedonism", which, according to Schwartz, is a separate unit, and includes elements of both openness to change and self-exaltation, is positively correlated with indicators of economic self-determination, characterized by positive assessments of their business activity and the dynamics of its changes, the relationship of competition and risk, their own opportunities to increase the success of their business and the success of their business activities. The results of the study confirm the validity of considering the meaning of life and value orientations of the individual as factors of self-determination of entrepreneurs.

The article is devoted to considering of the level of burnout and meaning of life orientation of teachers. In the course of empirical research, it is shown that respondents with a strong level of emotional burnout was statistically more frequently observed mismatch in the semantic system of life orientations than respondents with mild burnout. For the last inner harmony, acceptance of his past, present and future is typical. The paper also outlines a paradox: a stressful situation, provoking emotional burnout, may under certain circumstances be considered as conditions for the development of teachers and psychologists. To identify these conditions and to develop on their basis a more modern medico-hygienic norms of work of teachers and psychologists, the authors see prospects for implementation of structural methods of protection from burnout.

The article is devoted to the study of existential fulfillment of people with alcohol and drug dependence. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the abuse of psychoactive substances and alcoholic beverages is an international problem. As a consequence of deep problems of the individual, drug addiction and alcoholism affect most areas of human life, destroying it, including its existential fulfillment, which acts as a focus of the individual to find the meaning of existence and build their own destiny. The purpose of the research was to study the existential fulfillment of people with drug and alcohol dependence. The Mann-Whitney U-test for independent samples was used to determine the differences in the expression of the indicators. During the study it was found that in the subjects (N = 60) with drug and alcohol dependence such components of existential fulfillment as meaning-life orientations and existentiality, have a low level of expression, the meaning-life crisis is highly expressed.

Background: At the moment, in educational psychology, questions of training future teachers remain relevant. The same is for the formation of not only professional competencies but also the system of value and sense attitudes of a teacher to his/her educational activities. Aim: The paper aims to study the structure of value and sense attitudes of future teachers (on the example of university students). Materials and methods: the study involved first-year students of the South Ural State Humanitarian Pedagogical University and the Bashkir State Pedagogical University named after M. Akmullahs aged from 17 to 18 years (n = 140, 118 females and 22 males). The following psychodiagnostic methods were used: meaning-life orientations test by D.A. Leontiev; value orientations method by M. Rokich; system of vital meanings by V.Yu. Kotlyakova modified by D.S. Ermakov. Mathematical and statistical processing: descriptive statistics and factor analysis were carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics v. 23 statistical software package. Results: the indicators of meaning-life orientations, the ranking position of terminal and instrumental values, as well as the prevailing categories of life meanings were revealed. In the structure of value and sense attitudes of future teachers, 4 factors are identified that describe the students' ability to formulate their personal meanings, correlate them with the interests of society and their future profession. Conclusion: the data obtained allow to analyze the structure of value and sense attitudes of future teachers. The peculiarity of their educational activity is closely connected with a teacher’s perception of his/her importance and value in society.

Introduction. This paper deals with secular, spiritual, and religious existential concerns during severe illness.Materials and Methods. Qualitative research interviews were made before and after surgery with women who underwent final diagnostics, surgery, and chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. By applying a phenomenological-hermeneutic text interpretation methodology the findings were systematically identified, placed into meaning structures, interpreted, and critically discussed.Results. The analysis offered insight into the complexity of challenges and personal development over time in being a woman with ovarian cancer during her first treatment period. Although the women experienced their health to be seriously threatened, they also felt hope, will, and courage. The diagnostic procedures and treatment had comprehensive impact on their lives. However, hope and spirituality were important resources of comfort and meaning.Conclusion. Hope and courage to face life represent significant personal resources that are created not only in the interplay between body and mind but also between patients and their healthcare professionals. The women dealt with this in a dialectical manner, so that hope and despair could be present simultaneously. In this process secular, spiritual, and religious existential meaning orientations assisted the women in creating new narratives and obtain new orientations in life.

Aim objective is to study the relationship between the viability of HIV-infected women and their psychological state, lifelong orientations, and coping strategies for developing psychological intervention.Materials and methods. The study participants were patients of the St. Petersburg Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS. The questionnaire includes the socio-demographic characteristics of women. «Resilience Test» S. Muddy, test «Meaningful Life Orientations» (SJO) D. A. Leont’ev, Stress Management Strategies (SACS) Questionnaire C. Hobfall, the SSD-12 scale evaluates the psychological stress associated with somatic symptoms. The Impact of Event Scale is designed to measure specific human responses to stressors, where a common scale measures the degree to which a response to HIV infection is a traumatic event.Results. The average age of women who participated in the training is 38.9 years. 48,1% (13/27) have higher education. 37% (10/27) have No children. 48,1% (13/27) of women are single (do not have a permanent sexual partner). 33,3% (9/27) of the participants were diagnosed with HIV infection less than a year ago. The training included a complex of three classes. Participants gathered once a week from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The group was open. Those who completed a set of three classes were asked to fill out a feedback form. The indicators of the «Resilience» test at a high level of statistical significance are positively associated with the indicators of the LSS «General Intelligence», «Goals in Life», «Life Process», «Life Efficiency», «Locus of Control-I», «Locus of Control-Life». The severity of the perception of the diagnosis of HIV infection as a traumatic event has a two-way connection with psychological tension (at the cognitive, affective and behavioral levels), a negative connection with the meaning of life orientations and the need to find the «source» of the meaning of life at the moment. The traumatic effect of HIV infection is associated with aggressive behavior, difficulties in the meaningfulness of what is happening, with a loss of vigilance and self-confidence.

The results of the study of hardiness, noetic orientations, coping strategies, self-activation in students at inclusive mixed learning environment are presented. We suggested that students of an inclusive mixed learning environment with a low level of self-activation will have a low scores of hardiness and noetic orientation. They choose non-constructive coping strategies more often comparing to students with high and average levels of self-activation. The study involved 115 students of the distance learning faculty of Moscow State University of Psychology & Education: 58 students without disabilities and 57 students with disabilities. Students completed the COPE Inventory for analysis of the main coping strategies, Hardiness Survey, Self-Activation Questionnaire, and Noetic Orientation Test. It was shown that all scores in students with and without disabilities at different years of study were equally distributed. It was revealed that students with a low level of self-activation were characterized by a decrease in all the characteristics of hardiness, meaning of life, they also often choose non-constructive coping strategies in contrast to students with a high level of self-activation. Students with an average level of self-activation are distinguished by an average level of hardiness, life meaning, they choose both non-constructive and proactive strategies. Dividing our sample according to self-activation levels made it possible to detect and analyze different structures of the relationships between characteristics under study. The results can form the basis for psychological and pedagogical practice dealing with different students groups, regardless of presence or absence of disability, but depending on their self-activation development.

The authors rely on the theoretical position that value orientations should determine the meaning, validity and direction of pedagogical transformations, because values serve as basic norms and principles shaping consciousness and behaviour of people in society. The aim of the study is to determine features of formation of pedagogical University students’ value system during their period of higher professional education. Authors found that in the first year of training at a pedagogical University, there is no regularity in the prevalence of “polarity” in value orientations, i.e. there are both altruistic and selfish values. In the second year, there is more focus on the “internal” orientation of the values, on their egoistic tendencies. In the third year there is a certain balance in individual and social direction of the values and value orientations. In the fourth year, there is a “public direction “ of the students’ values, manifested in greater democratization, collectivization, in humanization of life ideals, i.e. in the fourth year under influence of industrial practices and studying professional disciplines professional identity of pedagogical universities students begins to shape. It is proved that the system of values in case of pedagogical university students develops during the period of their higher professional education.
