The Poznań Foundation of Humanitarian Relief “Redemptoris Missio” originated twenty-five years ago. Its mission is to provide professional medical assistance to missionaries and mission centers. It is the first foundation which involved lay people in the missionary activity of the Catholic Church. It was also founded mostly by lay people and is still managed by them. Many lay volunteers are also engaged in its work. In this study the author describes the genesis of the Foundation and its goals in the context of the pastoral paradigm. The analytical-critical method of its functioning was analyzed, as well as analysis of the source documents of the foundation. On the basis of the foundation's activities an institutional model of secular involvement in the Church’s missionary activity is presented, which can be replicated in other pastoral centers.

This study analyzes the annual reports of CMB in order to examine CMB’s assistance of Korea. CMB originally assisted medical education in China, and it turned to assist Asia with changes in the international situation. This paper examines three periods spanning from 1953 to 1980 when Korea received CMB assist. The first period was from 1953 to 1962, when Korea received help with material resources that were lacking after the Korean War. The second period was from 1963 to 1972 during which the scale of assistance further expanded. Additionally, Seoul National University began to have human resources with the necessary support for education and research with the assistance from CMB. The third period was from 1973 to 1980, when the CMB newly established the overall direction of aid, the contents of assistance for Korea also changed. Throughout this period, Korean medicine was able to lay the foundation for independence, and public health, including community medicine, came to be considered as an important aspect of society.

Use of mental health care services for psychological distress is limited among Latino immigrants. In geographic areas where migration has been rapid, mental health systems possess limited capacity to provide bilingual and bicultural assistance. The development of a bilingual and bicultural workforce is a necessary yet long-term solution. More immediate strategies, however, are needed to meet the needs of immigrant Latinos. This paper describes the development of a stress-reduction focused, lay health advisor training that targets individual behavior change among Latina immigrants. The theoretical foundation, curriculum components, and pilot implementation of the training are discussed. As natural leaders, Latina promotoras disseminated learned strategies and resources within their communities. The lay health advisor model is a salient method for disseminating information regarding mental health and stress reduction among Latinas.

Abstract In determining “the scope and extent of any damage, loss and injury to, or in respect of, victims” under article 75(1) of the International Criminal Court (“ICC”) Statute, the ICC will progressively lay the foundation of reparations in international criminal justice. In the process of establishing the typology of harms sustained by natural and—under some qualifications—legal persons, inter-state claims practice may prove to be of assistance to the judges in light of the particular circumstances of each case. In addition, such an exercise illuminates how the doctrinal methods adopted in public international law scholarship categorize and describe the harms that have given rise to reparation claims during both war and peacetime.

Abstract In today’s society, where independent living is becoming increasingly important, it can be extremely constricting for those who are blind. Blind and visually impaired (BVI) people face challenges because they need manual support to prompt information about their environment. In this work, we took our first step towards developing an affordable and high-performing eye wearable assistive device, DRISHTI, to provide visual navigation assistance for BVI people. This system comprises a camera module, ESP32 processor, Bluetooth module, smartphone and speakers. Using artificial intelligence, this system is proposed to detect and understand the nature of the users’ path and obstacles ahead of the user in that path and then inform BVI users about it via audio output to enable them to acquire directions by themselves on their journey. This first step discussed in this paper involves establishing a proof-of-concept of achieving the right balance of affordability and performance by testing an initial software integration of a currency detection algorithm on a low-cost embedded arrangement. This work will lay the foundation for our upcoming works toward achieving the goal of assisting the maximum of BVI people around the globe in moving independently.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer among men and women in the United States. Patients and survivors experience a range of challenges, including anxiety, financial issues, long-term adverse effects, and more. The intent of this project was to assess the needs of the CRC community directly from survivors and their caregivers and to lay a foundation for ongoing support. Methods: Twelve nominal group technique sessions were facilitated. Participants were randomized and presented with the following questions: “What information do you wish you had at the time of diagnosis?” and “What information do you need now as a survivor?” After the nominal group technique process, each statement’s score was divided by the number of people in the session, providing the average to identify the top-ranked statements. Themes and subthemes were applied to statements. Results were compared between coders. Results: There was a total of 79 participants, 49 of whom self-identified as a patient with or survivor of cancer. Patient/survivor demographics were as follows: stage IV disease (n=20), stage III disease (n=22), stage II disease (n=5), stage I disease (n=2), caregiver/family member (n=30), male (n=16), female (n=63), White (n=50), Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (n=1), Hispanic/Latino (n=13), Black/African American (n=11), Asian (n=1), and more than one race/ethnicity (n=3). The most frequent themes among responses to the first question were communication and coordination with care team and access to CRC resources. The most frequent themes among responses to the second question were psychosocial support and family/caregiver support. Frequent themes among responses across both questions were understanding treatment options and adverse effects. Conclusions: These findings highlight gaps in support for individuals affected by CRC, and lay a foundation for ongoing assistance. Future studies exploring differences based on disease stage, race/ethnicity, age, gender identity, geographic location, and tumor location are needed to further tailor support for those experiencing CRC. Themes identified in this project require a multidisciplinary approach to ensure that the unmet needs of survivors are addressed.

The article analyzes the history of the development of military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and NATO as one of the defining areas of international military partnership. Taking into account specific historical circumstances and external aggression by the Russian Federation, the importance of Ukraine’s military-technical cooperation with partner countries for the implementation of political goals and objectives of the state for the development of defense industry and national security is emphasized. Ukraine faced new types of threats in all spheres of the state’s life, in the military in particular, which required active assistance from partner countries. The realities of the hybrid war, which has targeted our country, require new approaches to ensuring the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including by strengthening military partnerships with the European Union and the United States. In modern geopolitical, socio-economic, international legal, military-political conditions, the nature, forms and directions of Ukraine’s military partnership need to be rethought and clarified. Today, Ukraine’s military cooperation with NATO is of a strategic nature, the tasks of which can be grouped into four key areas: maintaining military-political dialogue; assistance in reforming and developing the Armed Forces of Ukraine; ensuring contribution to international security and peacekeeping; defense and technical cooperation. As a result of this study, NATO membership will open new opportunities for Ukraine’s competitive defense industries and lay the foundation for military-technical cooperation at the international level. In this context, the myth that Ukraine’s accession to NATO will involve the collapse of Ukraine’s defense industry through the introduction of new NATO military standards, requirements for rearmament for our army is completely eliminated.

The article is devoted to demonstrating the genesis of the archetype of the trickster in Russian literature. The antihero, the sources of whose anti-behavior are traced in harlequinade and skmorokh buffoonery, is examined on the material of folklore and literary works from the 18th to the early 20th century. Anti-behavior in Russian culture symbolizes a rebellion unrefl exed in the folk environment against the norms of behavior and orderliness of life imposed by those in power. The archetype of the trickster, which has longtime traditions in world culture, was personifi ed in Russia as the skomorokh, then the jester Farnos, who in many ways adopted the skomorokh traditions. Among the populace Petrukha Fornos became one of the favorite comic jester heroes, having acquired special popularity as the result of crude color woodcuts from the 18th century. In the 19th century the image of Farnos was transformed into Petrushka, a puppet character of the theatricalized genre. With his assistance the simplistic satirical subjects lay at the foundation of the so-called Petrushka theater which, despite the unaltered plot, bore an improvisational-play character, pertaining to a number of “baculine” comedies, in the 19th century the image of Petrushka was so popular, that it surpassed the oral folk tradition and found its place in literary compositions. In the early 20th century the image of Petrushka the trickster became the source for numerous interpretations in modernist literature.

These institutions, apart from the association of “Friends of the Oblate Missions”, previously operated separately. From the very beginning, the Missionary Procuration has been associated with the basic areas of its activity: providing spiritual and material assistance to missionaries and the works they carry out; supporting the awakening of missionary vocations; propagating the missionary idea both among the clergy and lay people, also through: the activities of the Friends of the Mission, the activities of the “Lumen Caritatis” association, the publishing of the “Missionary Roads” magazine, the www.misacyjne.pl website, books and ephemeral publications, presence in other social media, parish animations and mission retreats, conducting social campaigns, other evangelistic, cultural and scientific events related to the promotion of Oblate missions. The conducted research shows, among others, that: this activity in many of its aspects may be paradigmatic for other national mission institutions (eg WYD or the missionary secretariat of the Divine Word Missionaries work in a similar way). The realities of missionary activity and research have also shown that the centralization of missionary activities in one institutional entity within the religious or diocesan jurisdiction is a better solution than their atomization. The purpose of missionary institutions is not only spiritual and material help for the mission, but also a much wider multifaceted activity; in the activities of ecclesial missionary institutions, both proven and modern missionary tools should be used, and in-depth mission formation, as well as the creation of communities, groups of people engaged in mission is a condition of permanent missionary assistance.

In today's world of evidence-based medicine with ever-growing demand in patient expectations, physician- Patient-centric managing a pathological condition is gaining acceptance from the normal disease management approach. Like all citizenry is Unique; similarly, physicians also possess a singular personality that responds differently even to an equivalent stimulus. Aiming for better patient care and Patient expectations, research work across the world has been administered for identifying the perfect physician personality traits right from selection of specialty, knowledge dissemination during the study period, and managing patients during the Practice sessions. However, there's little, or no research conducted thus far, in understanding the "Physician's personality" make-up focussing on their motives, values, preferences in their professional practice. Understanding "physician's personality" traits will lay a robust foundation for developing effective medico-marketing initiatives from the pharmaceutical industry with the assistance of smart and customized marketing initiatives resulting in a healthy environment for physician-Pharma association towards adopting better therapeutic interventions for patient benefit. This review is an effort to specialize in the research work done thus far in understanding the impact of "physician's personality" aimed toward improving patient care. Further research in understanding "Physician's personality" and its role in physicians prescribing decisions will help the Pharma industry towards developing much needed medico-marketing initiatives with optimal utilization of resources towards disseminating the latest therapeutic interventions to the physicians for better patient care which is the stepping stone for Physician-patient centric management.

Because of the overwhelming characteristics of computer vision technology, the trend of intelligent upgrading in sports industry is obvious. Video technical and tactical data extraction, big data analysis, and match assistance systems have caused profound changes to all aspects of the sports industry. One of the important applications is the playback and analysis of sports videos. People can observe the videos and summarize the experience of sports matches, and in this process, people prefer the computers to also interpret and analyze sports matches, which can not only help coaches in postmatch analysis but also design robots to assist in teaching and training. In this paper, we have examined and designed an automatic detection system for ping pong balls, in which the motion trajectory and rotation information of ping pong balls are mainly detected. To achieve this goal, the detection and tracking algorithm of ping pong balls based on deep neural network is used, and better results are achieved on the data set established by ourselves and the actual system test. After obtaining the position of the ping pong ball in the image, the rotation direction and speed of the ping pong ball are calculated next, and the Fourier transform-based speed measurement method and the CNN-based rotation direction detection method are implemented, which achieve better results in the testing of lower speed datasets. Finally, this paper proposes an LSTM-based trajectory prediction algorithm to lay the foundation for the design of table tennis robot by predicting the trajectory of table tennis. Experimental tests show that the proposed system can better handle the ping pong ball tracking and rotation measurement problems.

Purpose: to examine in depth the current LBH establishment arrangements. In addition, this study aims to formulate a regulatory formula for the formation of LBH that is appropriate and in accordance with the applicable legal context, with the main aim of realizing better legal certainty in supporting the mission of LBH in providing legal assistance to the community. Methods/design/approach: This research uses qualitative methods with a prescriptive research approach by describing data findings, both primary and secondary data, that have been processed and analyzed. Results: This research found that the regulations for the establishment of LAI/LAO in Indonesia need to be clarified, especially in terms of the status of the legal entity used. The status of the foundation dominates so that it becomes biased in carrying out its role as a legal aid institution to the community with consistency in the principles of the foundation regulated in Indonesian law. It is necessary to reformulate regulations that are more transparent and comprehensive for advocacy principles and can provide legal assistance to the community properly without being bound by limitations that may exist in the Foundation law. Conclusion: The dominant legal entity status for the Legal Aid Institute is in the form of a Foundation, a form of Foundation legal entity that has been the most appropriate to establish LAI/LAO in Indonesia because it has advantages, the foundation is non-profit and has no members, so it is more independent and cannot be intervened by any party. The provisions of legal entities in the Legal Aid Law, which are currently still based on Foundations and Associations, need to be supported by supervisory requirements in their implementation so as not to violate the essence of the enactment of the Foundation Law. Reformulation must result in clear legal aid institutions, protect human rights, provide equal access to justice, and achieve the desired level of legal certainty.

Climate change has a significant impact on species distribution, especially for the relict plants. Euptelea pleiosperma is a type of tertiary relict plant. This plant shows a decreasing trend in population size, and it is on the edge of extinction given the background of climate change. Understanding the change in suitable habitats of E. pleiosperma will provide significant academic value for investigating species conservation and sustainable development. According to the 236 distribution records of E. pleiosperma in China, and 11 environmental factors, the optimal model was selected from MaxEnt, BIOCLIM, and DOMAIN models, aiming to estimate the future potential suitable habitats and exploring the major environmental factors influencing the distribution of E. pleiosperma. By comparison, the BIOCLIM model was the optimal for estimation, since it achieved the highest precision and the lowest standard error. Our results demonstrated that temperature was the most important factor affecting the suitable habitats of E. pleiosperma, followed by precipitation and altitude. Under the medium- and high-emission scenarios, the future suitable habitats of E. pleiosperma will migrate northward to the high-latitude areas, whereas those under the low-emission scenario will migrate southward to the low-latitude areas. During 2041–2060, the suitable habitat areas will present a positive trend, while those during 2081–2100 will exhibit a negative trend to varying degrees. Consistent with the above results, it is advisable to establish natural reserves and seed resource banks of E. pleiosperma in the current high suitability areas, as well as to provide artificial assistance to guide its migration to the high suitability areas under the future climate scenarios. The findings in this research not only reveal the response of suitable habitats of E. pleiosperma to climate change but also lay a reliable foundation for its population resource conservation and sustainable development.

Abstract Objectives There is emerging evidence regarding the association of maternal overweight/obesity with an array of pregnancy-related complications and adverse pregnancy outcome. The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of higher pre- pregnancy body mass index (BMI) on pregnancy outcomes of women belonging to the upper socio-economic strata of North West Delhi. Methods An observational longitudinal study was conducted among 312 pregnant women attending the private antenatal clinics in North-West, Delhi, India during July 2018 to March 2020. Only women with pre-pregnancy BMI: >18.5kg/m2 who belonged to upper socio-economic strata and with confirmed singleton pregnancies were included in study. All the eligible subjects were enrolled at ≤ 16th week of their pregnancies and further stratified on basis of pre-pregnancy BMI criteria for the Asian-Indians,2009 i.e.,: normal weight;18.5–22.9kg/m2 (n:90), overweight; 23–24.9 kg/m2 (n = 90) and obese; ≥25 kg/m2 (n = 132). The primary outcome of study was macrosomia (birth weight: >3.5kg). Secondary outcomes were gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), hypothyroid, pre-eclampsia (PE), pre-term birth (PTB), cesarean section (CS), neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission, miscarriage and still birth. Mixed and fixed-effects logistic regression analysis was performed with normal weight category women as a reference group. Results Incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome increased as pre-pregnancy BMI increases. Obese and overweight women had greater risk of undergoing CS (OR: 0.97, 95% CI: 0.9–1.05) and delivering a macrosomic neonate (OR = 2.36, 95% CI: 0.38–14.81 and OR = 1.03, 95% CI: 0.18–5.82) than normal weight women. Neonates of obese (OR: 1.30, 95%, CI:0.67–2.52) and overweight (OR: 1.33, 95% CI: 0.67–2.66) women had a higher risk of NICU admissions. Conclusions Data indicated detrimental effect of higher pre-pregnancy BMI for both mother and as well as the neonate. It would be prudent to strive for normal pre-pregnancy BMI to reduce the likelihood of adverse pregnancy outcome and lay a healthy foundation for an offspring. Background Children in the United States eat too few fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and too many energy-dense foods; these dietary behaviors are associated with increased risk of obesity. Maternal diet plays a key role in shaping children's diets; however, many mothers have poor diet quality, especially those living in low-income households. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federal nutrition assistance program that provides mothers and children with nutrient-dense foods, and those who participate have better diet quality. However, many mothers do not redeem all their WIC-approved foods. Thus, there is a need to create effective interventions to improve diet quality, especially among low-income children and families. Objective This paper aims to describe the development and protocol for a study to evaluate the feasibility, satisfaction, and preliminary efficacy of a fully automated text messaging intervention as a strategy to improve maternal diet quality and the redemption of WIC-approved foods. Methods We describe the use of the framework developed for the description of nonrandomized feasibility studies. Using an observational, prospective cohort study design, we will recruit mothers enrolled in WIC with a child aged ≤2 years. Participants will receive automated SMS text messages aimed at improving the redemption of WIC-approved foods to improve the participants’ diet quality for 12 weeks. All outcome measures will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Qualitative data will be analyzed using thematic analysis. Results Data collection for this study began in March 2021. We expect the study results to be available within 9 months of study commencement. The results will shed light on the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of using automated text messages as a behavior change strategy for mothers enrolled in WIC. Conclusions The results of this pilot study will explore whether this digital behavioral intervention, which will deliver nutrition guidance in accordance with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans using interactive self-monitoring and feedback, is feasible and acceptable. Analysis of the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Survey, conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), shows that driver error is a factor in 94% of crashes. Although it is important to remember multiple factors contribute to all crashes, the largest portion of driver error issues involve the driver failing to recognize hazards, including distraction. Around 3,700 people die in traffic every day around the world, and 100,000 are injured. The automotive industry is striving to make driving safer. ADAS in India is comparatively in a nascent stage. However, it is gradually gaining pace. The government's upcoming safety regulations and consumer awareness will give further impetus to this movement. So, Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) is equipping cars and drivers with advance information and technology to make them become aware of the environment and handle potential situations in better way semi-autonomously. High-quality training and test data is essential in the development and validation of ADAS systems which lay the foundation for autonomous driving technology. In addition to this, ADAS systems need to be very safe and robust, with the ability to perform in a variety of driving scenarios, and be very secure, being immune from any external cyber-attacks. In order to make ADAS systems safer, the AV will be required to drive more than a billion miles on real roads, taking tens and sometimes hundreds of years to drive those miles, considering even the most aggressive testing assumptions. Every small update to the AV will require another billion miles of testing to be approved for real world use. Moreover, the more advanced the technology becomes, the more miles will need to de driven. Real word testing plays a very crucial role in ADAS and AV development and testing. Nevertheless, relying only on real world testing will significantly slow down the development and testing of such technologies. This is where simulation comes into play. With the primary objective of road safety improvement, ADAS functionalities will definitely play a big role for automotive industry. In order to tackle Indian specific road infrastructure conditions, and thus improving the safety, a complete tool-chain for developing, deploying and validating ADAS functionalities need to be developed. The presented work shares insights of each and every aspect of this tool-chain with experimental results and real world correlations.

The formalization of mathematics based on theorem prover becomes increasingly important in mathematics and computer science, and, particularly, formalizing fundamental mathematical theories becomes especially essential. In this paper, we describe the formalization in Coq of eight very representative completeness theorems of real numbers. These theorems include the Dedekind fundamental theorem, Supremum theorem, Monotone convergence theorem, Nested interval theorem, Finite cover theorem, Accumulation point theorem, Sequential compactness theorem, and Cauchy completeness theorem. We formalize the real number theory strictly following Landau’s Foundations of Analysis where the Dedekind fundamental theorem can be proved. We extend this system and complete the related notions and properties for finiteness and sequence. We prove these theorems in turn from Dedekind fundamental theorem, and finally prove the Dedekind fundamental theorem by the Cauchy completeness theorem. The full details of formal proof are checked by the proof assistant Coq, which embodies the characteristics of reliability and interactivity. This work can lay the foundation for many applications, especially in calculus and topology.

AbstractIndigenous entrepreneurs represent a growing segment of the business community in many countries, but face sometimes stark challenges in starting and running enterprises. The success of indigenous entrepreneurs matters because they draw upon their indigeneity as sources of inspiration and innovation, contribute to the collective wellbeing of indigenous peoples, and some represent world class exemplars of sustainable ways of doing business. While enterprise assistance for entrepreneurs is widely accepted as a worthwhile use of public funds few guidelines exist to help policy makers and providers understand the needs of indigenous entrepreneurs and how best to respond. In this paper, we use the theoretical lens of entrepreneurial identity to provide insight into this challenging context. Taking an identity perspective may enable us to tease out how identifying as a Māori entrepreneur can enable and also hinder change in this community context. In doing so we lay foundations for future empirical work.

The article assesses the implementation and impact of the Eisenhower Foundation's Neighborhood Program in ten communities. Most organizations successfully implemented the program and generated a level of participation that compares favorably to other programs. Despite successful implementation, the programs had only modest community impact. Fear of crime and concern about local problems declined slightly in some communities, but there was no documentable evidence of change in communities' crime or perceived quality of life. Of the Eisenhower Foundation guidelines, technical assistance was most clearly linked to program success, although the community planning process and advisory councils may have increased participation. Possible reasons for the small program impact and policy implications of the demonstration project are discussed.

AbstractDrawing from a sociocultural framework, this paper reports a study which investigated peer assistance among 10 mixed-age pairs (n=20) in mixed-age English as a foreign language (EFL) secondary school classrooms in Germany which are simultaneously mixed-ability classrooms. Mixed-age is increasingly used (Kallery and Loupidou 2016; Kuhl et al. 2013; Thurn 2011), but is under-researched in language classrooms. Although some research has been conducted in L2 mixed-proficiency settings, there has been no study conducted on peer-interactions within mixed-age groups/pairs in L2 contexts. This study aims to lay the foundations for future research of peer interactions among M-A second language learners. Results show that mixed-age pairs assisted one another in ways similar to those found in teacher-learner interactions, while some in ways which resemble to what Donato (1988, 1994) called collective scaffolding. However, the extent that this assistance benefited learning varied across learners. The findings also suggest that rather than age, the relationship between learners seems to be one of the major factors mediating the extent and quality of assistance.

The article analyzes the prerequisites, factors and consequences of immigration to the European Union from countries with a predominantly Muslim population. The main typological characteristics of the recipient countries of migrants from predominantly Muslim countries are highlighted. The problems studied in this article attract the attention of a wide range of specialists due to its relevance and at the same time due to the lack of any adequate answers to the modern challenges faced by the de facto multicultural societies of developed industrial countries. The results of consideration of the rights and freedoms of migrants in various EU countries are also important in scientific and practical terms. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the situation in Germany, as the most attractive country for migrants. In the context of the ongoing changes in the ethnodemographic structure of the population, the forecast of the number and gender and age structure of the Muslim population in Germany by 2050 is given. This forecast suggests that the population of Muslim origin in Germany will increase from 4.3 million in 2014 to at least 5.8 million by 2050. The increase will be achieved mainly due to a higher fertility rate than that of the Germans. According to the theory of E. Lee, the authors distinguish two groups of factors, "pushing factors" and "attraction factors", which contribute to the immigration of Muslims to more economically developed countries. The push factors in the countries of origin of migrants are mainly related to the unstable political situation, economic crises, and high unemployment, especially among the young population. Attracting factors are mainly related to the ability to receive certain economic preferences in the country of reception, to get educated, to have a stable income and medical care. Along with certain benefits, expressed in an increase in the share of the working-age population, Muslim migration also carries certain risks for EU countries: socio-cultural, religious, criminal, economic, political and geopolitical factors that can significantly affect the balance of political forces in the EU countries. The problems that arose with the adaptation and integration of Muslim migrants as a result of the largest migration crisis in the twenty-first century showed that the host country, in this case, the member States of the European Union, found themselves in a paradoxical situation. On the one hand, resolutions were prepared and adopted at the European level, and a set of measures was developed to accept migrants and provide them with financial and social assistance, which was expected to facilitate the process of adaptation and further lay the foundation for the assimilation of young Muslims. It was assumed that these steps will help, to some extent, to spread democratic values and principles for immigrants. On the other hand, in reality, the situation turned out to be much more complex and ambiguous, a number of EU States actually refused to accept migrants on their territories. The countries of the Visegrad group can be cited as an example. The split within the EU on migration issues calls the very existence of the European Union into question. This paper uses data from Eurostat, the International organization for migration, the German statistical office, the European Commission, the European Statistical Office, and a number of other reputable statistical agencies as input data. The material presented in the article does not contain information (information) related to state secrets of the countries of the European Union and the Russian Federation.

Background: Interprofessional collaboration between clinical laboratory scientists and pathologists’ assistants is important when developing a strong supportive network for the medical field. These professions work closely together in the daily clinical setting; however, in the academic setting, the education delivered through these individual programs occurs separately without interdisciplinary contact. Building an interdisciplinary foundation or partnership between these two programs early in a student’s academic preparation will cement future professionalism in the workplace as well as provide a deeper understanding of each other’s disciplines and professional practice and, in this case, of the intricacies of anatomy through a prosection experience. Methods: The goal of the interprofessional experience was to improve the understanding of anatomy for the undergraduate Clinical Laboratory Science student population (n=19) through a cadaver-based prosection experience led by the Pathologists’ Assistant faculty at Wayne State University. After the prosection, each student wrote a post-activity reflection, which was collected and analyzed. Results: The students’ written post-activity reflections revealed they were highly satisfied with the experience and believed that cadaver-based learning not only increased their knowledge of content matter, but also their understanding of a different health profession. Conclusion: The use of a cadaver-based teaching strategy that integrates anatomy to achieve relevant laboratory outcomes in both clinical laboratory science and pathology can provide an optimal learning experience to solidify the bond between these two laboratory professions.

Studying recitation is the basis for improving recitation when studying the Qur'an. Recitation as a foundation causes recitation of recitation done first before people learn the Qur'an in more detail or usually in line with learning the Qur'an itself. Studying recitation is helpful to improve the quality of reading the Qur’an, both in sound and rhythm, but the most urgent is to justify the meaning. The need for the recitation of recitation is significant because it is used to improve children's reading of the Qur'an, especially regarding the law of nun and tanwin, and mad reading. Therefore, so that children quickly learn the Qur’an, especially in terms of reading the Qur’an, TPQ must learn the knowledge of recitation to children. Tajweed material includes the rules of reading the Qur’an, among others: Makhraj Letter Hijaiyah, Provisions Qalqalah, Provisions Nun and Mim Musyaddadah (Tasydid), Provisions Lam Letters, Provisions of the Sukun, Provisions of Ikhfa, Provisions of Izhhar, Provisions of Qalqalah, Provisions on Nun and Mim Musyaddadah (Tasydid), Provisions on Ra Letter, Mad Provisions, Provisions on Alif and Lam Syamsiyah Letters, Provisions on Alif and Lam Qamariyah Letters, Waqaf Provisions, and Sajadah Verses; 2) The step of recitation is done by the cleric first reading a short verse, for example, a sentence in a poem that is long enough to a certain waqaf then the students follow it simultaneously. After that, one by one, the students were allowed to read what had been said simultaneously. If there is an error in the pronunciation, mainly from the perspective of recitation, it is immediately reprimanded and justified; 3) The strategies adopted include: having a mature and strategic education plan and having a learning curriculum that includes: 1) The existence of clear learning objectives 2) The existence of suitable learning methods and techniques and is applied continuously with various innovations and evaluations 3 ) The existence of a material or teaching material that is representative and by the learning objectives 4) The existence of a professional teacher in the field of learning the Qur'an.

The propagation of digital assistants is consistently progressing. Manifested by an uptake of ever more human-like conversational abilities, respective technologies are moving increasingly away from their role as voice-operated task enablers and becoming rather companion-like artifacts whose interaction style is rooted in anthropomorphic behavior. One of the required characteristics in this shift from a utilitarian tool to an emotional character is the adoption of social intelligence. Although past research has recognized this need, more multi-disciplinary investigations should be devoted to the exploration of relevant traits and their potential embedding in future agent technology. Aiming to lay a foundation for further developments, we report on the results of a Delphi study highlighting the respective opinions of 21 multi-disciplinary domain experts. The inclusion of employees with disabilities in production is an issue that has rarely been addressed by scientists from the manufacturing sector. In this article, we examine to what extent the trend towards Industry 4.0 offers potential for the inclusion of people with disabilities in Production 4.0. First, we examine relevant legal foundations and restrictions in Europe and in more detail in Austria, Italy, and Norway. Next, based on a literature review, we examine which technological aids in the form of worker assistance systems derived from Industry 4.0 can make jobs in the manufacturing sector accessible for people with disabilities. Three types of assistance systems have been examined: sensorial aid systems, physical aid systems, and cognitive aid systems. In a concluding discussion of the results, we finally summarize the implications on management and policies as well as the potential and limitations of identified worker assistance technologies. On the one hand, the study is intended to draw the attention of researchers and industrial companies to new technological possibilities for the inclusion of people with disabilities in production. On the other hand, difficulties and grievances due to the legal foundations are pointed out to stimulate a critical discussion here as well.

Abstract Introduction Increased development and use of next-generation sequencing in clinical diagnostics has revolutionized precision medicine. Steps prior to a specimen arriving at a diagnostic facility, including pathological evaluation, are crucial parameters determining specimen quality and success of comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP). This observational study identified factors that may influence tissue acquisition for commercial CGP in clinical oncology. Methods Data were collected from deidentified patients (n = 63) from select US pathology labs enrolled in a Foundation Medicine (FMI) early access program for the CGP test FoundationOne CDx (Foundation Medicine). A representative substudy cohort (n = 20) with qualitative information available was selected. Lab visit frequency by FMI was monitored for 42 cases. Tissue acquisition turnaround time (TA-TAT) was separated into stages: (1) tissue request to pathology lab acknowledgment, (2) pathology lab acknowledgment to tissue pathology review, (3) tissue pathology review to packaging, and (4) packaging to tissue arriving at FMI. Results Median TA-TAT for the total population was 5.0 days (range, 0-27.0) and 3.5 days for the substudy cohort (range, 1.0-11.0). The duration of each TA-TAT stage was evaluated separately and varied between labs (0%-71.4% of total TA-TAT). TA-TAT was longer for unstained slides compared with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks. There was a trend for decreased TA-TAT when stages 1 and 2 occurred on the same day versus different days. For the cases with lab-visit frequency reported, those with biweekly visits had shorter TA-TAT (biweekly: n = 12, median = 2.0, 2.5th-97.5th percentile range, 0.3-5.7 days; single visit: n = 30, median = 5.5, 2.5th-97.5th percentile range, 0.7-13.1 days). Conclusions Understanding and optimizing the tissue acquisition workflow may reduce TA-TAT, thereby facilitating report delivery and subsequent treatment guidance to patients. Purpose Even though many studies have attempted to understand the drivers of carbon dioxide emission and energy consumption to help tackle environmental issues, not much has been done to estimate the effect of natural resources extraction on these two variables. This paper aims to analyze the long-run and short-run carbon dioxide emission and energy consumption effect of natural resources extraction in Ghana. Design/methodology/approach The theoretical foundation for this study is the Stochastic Impacts Regression on Population, Affluence and Technology (STIRPAT) model. Secondary Data sourced from World Development Indicators (2018) for the period of 1971-2013 were used. Estimation was done by using the autoregressive distributed lag. Findings It was found among other things that urbanization, and extraction of natural resources contribute to Ghana’s carbon dioxide emission, while official development assistance helps in reducing carbon dioxide emission in the long run. Again, while income and extraction of natural resources increase energy consumption, urbanization and official development assistance reduce environmental degradation in the long run. Regarding the short run, income and urbanization both increase energy consumption and carbon dioxide emission; trade openness and official development assistance decrease both carbon dioxide emission and energy consumption. Research limitations/implications The implications from the results include the need to strictly enforce laws regulating extractive activities in the country to ensure a safe environment; and also to raise tariff and non-tariff barriers on products that do not promote a friendly environment and vice versa. Originality/value The effect of natural resources extraction on carbon emission and energy consumption is examined.

The Catholic Church in the Polish lands in the XIX century has had numerous charity works. The charitable activities were seen as the task of God's commandment of love. The purpose of this activity was to support poor people in the form of satisfying basic material needs and achieving adequate personal development. The article discusses the most important forms of assistance provided by religious orders, as well as clerical and lay organizations. The author draws attention to the charity's impact on education and the formation of humanistic values in society. Many priests set up organisations that had such names as: “Star”, “Aurora”, “Fatherland”, “Rock”. Their main objective was to raise up education standards and stimulate patriotism and solidarity among young people. Therefore, cooperation between educational institutions, families, non-governmental organizations, volunteer movements, charitable foundations for the expansion of active charitable activities, and the creation of a humanistic society is required. Nowadays it is extremely important to revive philanthropy and altruism in every country. Currently, there are foundations, organizations aimed at carrying out charitable activities and attracting to the charity all who wish to serve the cause of raising Christian morality, culture, education, art, support of the poor. Thus, this is important to promote it in the educational field as well. After all, many young people are ready to help financially or spiritually those who need it; they seek to invest time, money and talent into a rapidly growing charity. Here we see an important role of the Catholic Church, which influences the development of the spirituality of the individual.

The paired assistance approach is an important measure for achieving poverty alleviation in China. The sustainable development of poverty-stricken areas after poverty alleviation has become an important task in preventing a return to poverty and promoting rural revitalization. Paired assistance is a dynamic process of balanced economic, social, and population development. This study establishes a system dynamics (SD) model for developing poverty-stricken regions under paired assistance. This study takes Lvchun County in Yunnan Province as the research object, designates six scenarios, and simulates the development of Lvchun County from 2019 to 2035 to evaluate its sustainable development after poverty alleviation. The results show that the cessation of poverty alleviation funding will not increase the incidence of poverty under paired assistance but will lead to an unbalanced scenario of “poor people and a rich government”. In the multi-scenario simulation, only by continuing the cooperation foundation formed by paired assistance and paying attention to the resource endowment of poverty-stricken areas can collaborative development be adopted to achieve sustainable development by 2030. This result may be a valuable resource for the world’s underdeveloped regions to reference as they seek to eliminate poverty, reduce the risk of returning to poverty, and promote sustainable development.

Federal law excludes millions of American citizens from crucial public benefits simply because they live in the United States territories. If the Social Security Administration determines a low-income individual has a disability, that person can move to another state and continue to receive benefits. But if that person moves to, say, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands, that person loses their right to federal aid. Similarly with SNAP (food stamps), federal spending rises with increased demand—whether because of a recession, a pandemic, or a climate disaster. But unlike the rest of the United States, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa receive a limited amount of federal food assistance, regardless of need. That’s why, after Hurricane Maria, despite additional congressional action, over a million Puerto Rican residents lost food assistance. And with Medicaid, federal law caps medical assistance for each of these five territories, a limit that does not exist for the fifty states or the District of Columbia. This Article draws much-needed attention to these discrepancies in legal status and social protection. It surveys the eligibility rules and financing structure of disability benefits, food assistance, and health insurance for low-income Americans in the states and the territories. A comprehensive account of these practices provokes questions about the tiers of citizenship built by a fragmented and devolved American state. Part I invokes the scholarship on social citizenship, the idea that an individual cannot meaningfully participate in society without some modicum of economic security. Part I then explores the tension between that normative commitment and one of the defining features of the American welfare state—federalism. It then elaborates the exceptional legal status of Americans who live in U.S. territories. Part II provides a comprehensive overview of federal food, medical, and disability assistance and, in doing so, demonstrates how the American territories inhabit a different and, in many ways, dilapidated corner of the American welfare state. Part III begins with an analysis of ongoing cases in federal court that challenge this facial discrimination. It then canvasses legislation introduced in Congress that would make significant progress in putting territorial Americans on par with Americans in the fifty states. To conclude, Part IV brings the states back in, using the earlier discussion of territories as an invitation to imagine an American welfare state built on a foundation other than a racial order.

The article analyzes Ukrainian and Polish source literature on the war over the control of Donbas that has been waged by Russia and Ukraine since 2014, and military volunteers who participated in the conflict. The evolution of Ukrainian military volunteerism as a way of life of the ethnos and a cultural phenomenon merits further ethnological research in Ukraine and Poland. For this reason, historical literature, literature on sociology and social pedagogy, journalistic sources and other source literature should be analyzed to explore difficult war circumstances, new military traditions and volunteerism. The establishment and evolution of military volunteerism in contemporary Ukraine as a social and cultural phenomenon has not yet emerged as a major topic of ethnological research in Ukraine or Poland. The article draws upon literary sources that lay the historical foundations for volunteerism through mutual assistance and acts of good will on behalf of Ukrainian citizens. Scientific literature and journalistic sources concerning volunteerism should also be reviewed. Academic papers (reports from scientific conferences, political negotiations, dissertations), opinion journalism (memoirs and interviews) and literary works (novels, essays, short stories and poetry) published in contemporary Poland and Ukraine constitute important sources of information about the armed forces and military volunteers.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a type of nanomaterial that have excellent electrical properties such as high carrier mobility, high saturation velocity, and small inherent capacitance, showing great promise in radio frequency (RF) applications. Decades of development have been made mainly on cut-off frequency and amplification; however, frequency conversion for RF transceivers, such as CNT-based mixers, has been rarely reported. In this work, based on randomly oriented carbon nanotube films, we focused on exploring the frequency conversion capability of CNT-based RF mixers. CNT-based RF transistors were designed and fabricated with a gate length of 50 nm and gate width of 100 μm to obtain nearly 30 mA of total current and 34 mS of transconductance. The Champion RF transistor has demonstrated cut-off frequencies of 78 GHz and 60 GHz for fT and fmax, respectively. CNT-based mixers achieve high conversion gain from −11.4 dB to −17.5 dB at 10 to 15 GHz in the X and Ku bands. Additionally, linearity is achieved with an input third intercept (IIP3) of 18 dBm. It is worth noting that the results from this work have no matching technology or tuning instrument assistance, which lay the foundations for the application of Ku band transceivers integrated with CNT amplifiers.

AbstractMentoring has recently taken centre stage as one of the primary criminal justice ‘interventions’ to reduce reoffending, having grown in popularity over the past fifteen years. Its rapid growth has been driven by claims of success within and outside the criminal justice system, leading some to argue that it has been perceived as a silver bullet (Newburn and Shiner, 2005). This article challenges such claims on three fronts: first, mentoring is an ill-defined concept with weak theoretical foundations; second, the evidence base upon which claims of success are made is limited; and, third, transferring mentoring into the coercive and punitive environment of the criminal justice system results in a departure from the very principles and values which are the basis of its usefulness elsewhere. The article utilises the findings from three empirical criminal justice research projects to question claims of widespread and effective mentoring activity with defendants and offenders, suggesting instead that ‘interventions’ described as mentoring serve as a vehicle to extend the reach of the criminal justice system. At the end of the article, we suggest that desistance theory, specifically the Good Lives Model, provides a conceptual framework for taking mentoring in criminal justice forward.

Abstract The article interconnects the research on welfare attitudes and welfare chauvinism with moral psychology in order to develop an interdisciplinary analytical approach designed for studying attitudes to welfare policies and potentially overcoming the divisions prevalent in many European democracies. It introduces Moral Foundations Theory (MFT) - an empirical approach to analysing intuitions, reasoning, and emotions constituting moral judgment - and outlines its understanding of competing versions of fairness and distributive justice. The potential contributions of MFT are exemplified on a case study situated in contemporary Slovakia which deals with two conflicting conceptions of fairness, as equity and as equality, embodied in the diverging attitudes towards an amendment to the Act on the Assistance in Material Need (2013). The article argues that MFT and related research programmes are irreplaceable components in an interdisciplinary study of the plurality of welfare policy attitudes. It also highlights the transformative potential of MFT and related research programmes in devising interventions aimed at changing (political) attitudes to welfare and reducing their polarisation.

Taking a ten-year retrospective view, this article qualitatively evaluates the performance of the paired-assistance policy (PAP) implemented in response to China’s Wenchuan earthquake from the perspective of sustainable recovery. Based on a review of relevant literature, the article proposes an integrated framework for the qualitative evaluation of the sustainability of disaster recovery. First, sustainable recovery prioritizes sustainability as the goal of activities undertaken to improve the local quality of life and local economic and environmental conditions. Second, sustainable recovery is a process involving several stages, from restoration to replacement reconstruction and finally to developmental construction. Third, sustainable recovery creates a structure that fosters local reliance through interactions between external and internal entities. Fourth, sustainable recovery emphasizes betterment over restoration and hazard mitigation. Overall, sustainable recovery integrates these four characteristics. Using the case-study method, this article qualitatively evaluates the Jiangsu-Mianzhu PAP (JM-PAP) from the perspective of sustainable recovery. The findings suggest that the JM-PAP laid a good foundation for sustainable recovery after the Wenchuan earthquake. Finally, policy recommendations are offered to improve the performance of the PAP in achieving sustainable recovery after future disasters in China.

Background: The COVID-19 novel coronavirus closed oral health care in Nova Scotia (NS) Canada in March 2020. Preparing for a phased reopening, a knowledge exchange coalition (representing government, academia, hospitals, oral health professions, and regulators) developed return-to-work (RTW) guidelines detailing the augmentation of standard practices to ensure safety for patients, oral health care providers (OHPs), and the community. Using online surveys, this study explored the influence of the RTW guidelines and related education on registered NS OHPs during a phased return to work. Methods: Dissemination of R2W guidelines included website or email communiques and interdisciplinary education webinars that coincided with 2 RTW phases approved by the government. Aligned with each phase, all registered dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants were invited to complete an online survey to gauge the influence of the coalition-sponsored education and RTW guidelines, confidence, preparedness, and personal protective equipment use before and after the pandemic. Results: Three coalition-sponsored multidisciplinary webinars hosted 3541 attendees prior to RTW. The response to survey 1 was 41% (881/2156) and to survey 2 was 26% (571/2177) of registrants. Survey 1 (82%) and survey 2 (89%) respondents “agreed/strongly agreed” that R2W guidelines were a primary source for guiding return to practice, and most were confident with education received and had the skills needed to effectively treat patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Confidence and preparedness improved in survey 2. Gowns/lab coat use for aerosol-generating procedures increased from 26% to 93%, and the use of full face shields rose from 6% to 93% during the pandemic. Conclusions: A multistakeholder coalition was effective in establishing and communicating comprehensive guidelines and web-based education to ensure unified reintegration of oral health services in NS during a pandemic. This multiorganizational cooperation lay the foundation for responses to subsequent waves of COVID-19 and may serve as an example for collaboratively responding to future public health threats in other settings. Knowledge Transfer Statement: The return-to-work strategy that was developed, disseminated, and assessed through this COVID-19 knowledge exchange coalition will benefit oral health practitioners, professional regulators, government policy makers, and researchers in future pandemic planning.

The article examines the phenomenon of piracy crimes based on the study of the international legal framework. The goal set by the authors is to identify possible ways and mechanisms by which States will be able to carry out effective international cooperation to bring pirates to justice and reduce the number of pirate attacks. The authors note that the beginning of the development of the efforts of the international community in the field of combating piracy falls in the middle of the 19th century. Further attempts to create a treaty at the beginning of the 20th century did not lead to success, but laid the foundation for the adoption of the 1958 Convention on the High Seas and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, which contain the universally recognized concept of piracy. The authors analyze the main elements of the crime of piracy (an illegal act of violence or detention, or any act of depredation; private ends; the “rule of two ships”; outside the jurisdiction of any State) and consider controversial issues of interpretation of these elements. Attention is drawn to the fact that existing sources aimed at countering piracy crimes include the obligation of States to cooperate. Since they do not contain specific forms of international cooperation, but are only limited to a general obligation to provide assistance to the maximum extent possible, the authors consider it appropriate to interpret the obligation of cooperation broadly to include such forms as extradition and mutual legal assistance in the prosecution of piracy crimes. The authors investigate the activities of international and regional organizations in the field of combating piracy and their proposed methods and mechanisms aimed at reducing crime on the high seas. The initiatives proposed by the Russian Federation to combat piracy are being considered.

This study investigates the relationship and the magnitude of the influence of perceived training in labor law knowledge on employees’ organizational commitment, with job satisfaction as a mediating factor. The study concentrates on the commercial banking sector in Vietnam, an emerging developing country in Southeast Asia. Data were gathered through interviews with 496 employees from 20 commercial banks in Vietnam. Applying partial least squares structural equation modeling, the analysis indicates that employees’ perceptions of training in labor law knowledge have both direct and indirect effects on their job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The perceived motivation for training, perceived benefits of training, perceived availability of training, and perceived support from management and colleagues all serve as significant mediators in this relationship. Notably, increased job satisfaction significantly contributes to a positive impact on employees’ commitment to the organization. However, the study results suggest that employees’ perceived benefits of labor law training do not have a significant influence on their commitment to the organization. Nonetheless, these results serve as a foundation for managerial implications, offering valuable insights to enterprise managers in the commercial bank sector to improve future labor law training. AcknowledgmentThis collaborative research involves scholars from the University of Law – Hue University and Duy Tan University. AbstractThe objective of this study is to explore and determine the legal constraints related to adult male rape and the consequences as they exist in the Bangladeshi criminal justice system. Primary and secondary data sources for the study were derived from the narratives of adult male rape survivors, blood relatives of rape survivors, police officers, and legal practitioners. A snowball sampling technique was applied. The study reveals that there is an absence of a police-support response to adult male rape victims, which is attributable to the lack of a gender-neutral definition of rape. This legal definition vacuum diverts complainants to a range of other futile options, such as submitting a general diary and/or adjacent complaints and seeking assistance from other law enforcement agencies. Finally, this study demonstrates that the landscape of the Bangladeshi criminal justice system is likely to remain unchanged until its legal foundation is better developed.

Abstract Late-life depression is a serious public health concern in the U.S., especially as the population ages. To improve care coordination and increase the number of providers working to improve depression outcomes, primary care clinics and community-based organizations (CBOs) can partner and improve care. Addressing social determinants of health is one area CBOs can help respond to but there are other ways CBOs can bring value to these partnerships with primary care clinics. As part of a qualitative evaluation of the Care Partners Project, 84 key informant interviews and 20 focus groups were conducted over five years with selected primary care physicians, care managers, administrators and psychiatric consultants. These data were coded and organized using an inductive and deductive thematic analysis approach. CBOs contributed to care through 1) adding new services that focus on clients’ social needs (e.g., assistance locating affordable housing, reliable transportation, applying for social security benefits) that were foundational to effective depression care; 2) strengthening core aspects of existing care; 3) incorporating a lay health workforce to enhance care; and/or 4) adding home visits that supported deeper understanding of patient’s life context, enhanced trust and improved access to care. CBOs can enhance depression care through increasing access and quality of care. Findings can inform conversations about the value CBOs offer when partnering with health care systems and improve partnership efforts. Such conversations are worth revisiting as organizations deepen their connections and work together over time.

Nowadays Ukraine faces the difficult times under the influence of economic and political crises. Therefore, the only perspective way of products’ competitiveness is innovations, in the first place in the areas where there are many resources and opportunities. Agriculture is one of such most important strategic directions of Ukrainian economy. At the same time agriculture is the supporting foundation for the development of many other types of activity and it can substantially influence the development of Ukrainian economy on an international scale. The paper dwells on the nature, features and problems of implementation of innovations in the agriculture of Ukraine. The features of AIS innovation processes in current conditions are defined. Main problems and obstacles to agriculture innovative development in Ukraine are outlined. The authors emphasize the following factors of low innovation activity of agricultural entities: direct attitude of contemporary entrepreneur to innovation processes and understanding of their role in achieving success; lack of state assistance; insufficiency of legislative basis of its provision in Ukraine. Currently Ukrainian agricultural enterprises have a huge capacity for operation at competitive markets as equal partners of global agricultural leaders. Available resources and natural-climate conditions are among their factors of success. However, fast development of technologies dictates new activity conditions to strengthen and improve their positions through innovations. Despite the range of advantages, Ukrainian agro-industrial producers lag significantly behind the advanced innovations and developments in the world. However, there are some examples of successful innovative agri-food companies. Major deterrent factors that cause the low innovativeness of agricultural entities are direct attitude of contemporary entrepreneur to innovation processes and understanding of their role in achieving success, lack of state assistance and insufficiency of legislative basis of its provision in Ukraine.
