Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOur thesis devoted to the study of imaginary mouvements of ascension and of fall from a dialectic standpoint between the man, the world and god in the works of albert camus. As the author, who believed that he was born in total accordance with nature, is conscious of the irreversible time, the sentiment of fall and the nostalgia of the paradise lost put in motion in his imagination. The author's imagination is therefore characterized by a constant going and returning between ascension and fall. Through out the three parts of our thesis, we study this going and returning between the imaginary mouvement of ascension and that of fall : the first part is devoted to the analysis of each of the two principal imaginary mouvements of albert camus whose images regroup with two moving constellations of which one tends towards the high and the other tends towards the low, the second part to the dynamism of ascension and of fall that proceeds from a spatiotemporal plane in the five narratives works of camus, "la mort heureuse", "l'etranger", "la chute", "jonas ou l'artiste au travail" and "la femme adultere", and the third part to the research of the imaginary mouvements of ascension and of fall on the basis of the biblical images just as camus read it

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe discovery of the essence of the picaresque, in the novels the life of lazarillo de tormes and camus' the fall is made possible by a methodological and synthetic approach wich is both modern and presice ; the analysis of this essence is conducted within its constitutive anatomy, semantics and mode; finally, its projection as a fundamental research process, makes it possible to analyse it in other related picaresque novels within universal litterary history
Marty, Claire. Thesis, Paris 4, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA040163.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleManipulation is present in Albert Camus’s work. It acts at the level of both the characters and the reader. Jean-Baptiste Clamence, from The Fall, is an extremely manipulative character. At the end of his speech, he lists and describes his manipulation techniques. The Fall reveals a new aspect of Albert Camus’s work : manipulation. There are several kinds of manipulator: those who find personal pleasure in such behaviours, and those who act for the good of others. Manipulation may sometimes benefit another manipulator. Historical events may generate manipulation; they activate Camus’s characters.Manipulated characters also react in different ways. Some are unaware, others may be aware but are non-consenting and fight to free themselves, and other characters are aware of being manipulated and accept it.At the reader’s level, Albert Camus uses different techniques such as the play between duos, references to the Holy Bible or tho his own writings. Albert Camus creates an understanding which makes judgement impossible. The Fall almost resembles an instruction manual for manipulation. Through Jean-Baptiste Clamence’s techniques, we discover those of Camus himself. The First Man is the only one of Camus’s books that is free of manipulation, and in this respect represents a turning-point in his work

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleJoseph Conrad, Albert Camus and John-Maxwell Coetzee take an interest in the theme of wandering through their novels. Especially, confronting the figure of the wanderer with the paradoxes of alterity and guilt is what we offer to highlight. Before them, Fyodor Dostoevsky establishes with the figure of Raskolnikov the powerful tormented conscience’s schism about to wander. Taking as a starting point Crime and punishment, it is about calling out, questioning and bringing the texts face to face where the wandering figures undertake the paradoxical and laborious identity quest. Lord Jim, The Fall and The Master of Petersburg allow to identify the nature of interactions that bond guilt and suffering, autarky and social role through the raskolnikovian prism. Beyond that, it is about bringing back the identitary questioning to the common base of the wandering way in the 20th century novels. Through the analysis of these novels, this PhD offers to show how the evolution of the wanderer’s figure inverts the traditional paradigms linked to the salvation-suffering mechanism, and how it allows a new nihilism to see the light of the day
