Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe july 6th 1942 convoy was singular in nature, taking as it did more than one thousand communist hostages, fifty jews and some twenty common law prisoners from compiegne to auschwitz. This study is divided into two parts, with the date of the convoy linking the two. The opening chapters recount the setting up and development of the hostage system established by the german military commander in france, as from august 1941. In retaliation for attacks by communist armed groups, hitler demanded a large-scale execution of hostages, which he supplemented in april 1942 by an order to deport communist, jewish and "antisocial" hostages to the east. The purpose of the july 6th 1942 convoy was to remove the communist and antisocial hostages who had been herded together in compiegne by the german military authorities. The remaining chapters of part 1 show how these retaliatory deportations were prepared, and especially how the july 6th 1942 convoy was formed. A sipo-sd order specified that these deportees were to be put under nn prisoner regime in auschwitz. Part 2 begins with the story of how the "45. 000" were transferred to auschwitz and of the particular conditions of their entry into the camp system. Chapter 2 analyses why 85% of the members of this convoy died within 6 months of arriving, while chapter 3 discusses what the chances of survival were for these french political prisoners held in the main camp used to further the final solution. In december 1942, a french resistance group was set up among the survivors. Fron spring 1943 onwards, the severity of this regime in the main camp began to ease andthe "45. 000" benefited from a series of measures which all helped to improve their chances of survival - so much so that, by 1944, there were no more deaths among the "45. 000"

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe present thesis compares autobiographies of testimony that represent experiences of historical trauma in Brazilian and Austrian cultures. We consider the discursive genre autobiography of testimony as an invariable element of comparison that allows the approximation of the respective discursive cultures (von Münchow, 2021). Our central aim is to describe how the autobiographical discourse of testimony represents historical trauma and interrelates individual, familial, and collective dimensions in its discursive constitution. Based on the problematic memory work on the events of the civil military dictatorship (Teles and Quinalha, 2020) and World War II (Wodak et al, 1990), we observe how the political-social frameworks of the respective cultures are constituted by the extremist discourses that characterized the context of repression, authoritarianism, and violence. We note, therefore, an expressive recurrence of life writing that transits between traditional and more hybrid forms, following the ethical-moral function that constitutes literary discourse. Our methodology is based on the relation between dialogical discourse theory (Brait, 2006) and contrastive discourse analysis (von Münchow, 2021). We then compare the discourse constructions of the following autobiographies: in the Brazilian subcorpus, Ainda estou aqui (2014), Volto semana que vem (2014) and Em nome dos pais (2017), by authors Marcelo Rubens Paiva, Maria Pilla and Matheus Leitão; and in the Austrian subcorpus, Die Welt von Gestern (1942) and weiter leben (1992), by authors Stefan Zweig and Ruth Klüger. The analyses focus on three levels: i) the extraverbal context, ii) the interspersed genres, and iii) the transmission of other people's speech. Autobiographical testimony in the Brazilian subcorpus is constituted by a variety of genres and external points of view that accentuate the factual dimension of the narrative and perform a denunciatory function, given the conditions of the memory phase in which the works are produced. The testimony in the Austrian subcorpus, coming from a more consolidated testimonial-autobiographical tradition, make reference to the facts from the individual perspective, using external genres and discourses in order to only illustrate the dominant analytical position of the authors' discourse. While the Brazilian subcorpus seeks a restitution of the primary context in which the facts occurred, the Austrian subcorpus reflects the experiences lived in the context in which the narrative is produced
