Two types of perennial wild rice, Australian Oryza rufipogon and a new taxon Jpn2 have been observed in Australia in addition to the annual species Oryza meridionalis. Jpn2 is distinct owing to its larger spikelet size but shares O. meridionalis-like morphological features including a high density of bristle cells on the awn surface. All the morphological traits resemble O. meridionalis except for the larger spikelet size. Because Jpn2 has distinct cytoplasmic genomes, including the chloroplast (cp), cp insertion/deletion/simple sequence repeats were designed to establish marker systems to distinguish wild rice in Australia in different natural populations. It was shown that the new taxon is distinct from Asian O. rufipogon but instead resembles O. meridionalis. In addition, higher diversity was detected in north-eastern Australia. Reproductive barriers among species and Jpn2 tested by cross-hybridization suggested a unique biological relationship of Jpn2 with other species. Insertions of retrotransposable elements in the Jpn2 genome were extracted from raw reads generated using next-generation sequencing. Jpn2 tended to share insertions with other O. meridionalis accessions and with Australian O. rufipogon accessions in particular cases, but not Asian O. rufipogon except for two insertions. One insertion was restricted to Jpn2 in Australia and shared with some O. rufipogon in Thailand.

Jianpiyifei II granule (JPYF II) is an oriental herbal formula used clinically in China to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The aim of the present study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory and antioxidative activities of JPYF II in a mouse model of COPD induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and cigarette smoke (CS) and in RAW264.7 cells stimulated with cigarette smoke extract (CSE). Mice were given LPS via intratracheal instillation on days 1 and 15 and exposed to CS generated from 4 cigarettes/day for 28 days. The mice were treated with 0.75, 1.5, or 3 g/kg/d JPYF II by intragastric administration in low, middle, and high dose groups, respectively, for two weeks. RAW264.7 cells were stimulated by CSE and treated with JPYF II at doses of 12.5, 25, or 50 μg/mL. In the mouse model of LPS and CS-induced COPD, JPYF II decreased inflammatory cell counts in broncho alveolar lavage fluid (BALF), in addition to mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines and metalloproteinases (MMPs) in lung tissues. In addition, JPYF II elevated catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities and reduced the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and IκBα and p65 phosphorylation and inflammatory cell infiltration in the lung tissues. In RAW264.7 cells stimulated with CSE, JPYF II inhibited the mRNA levels of inflammatory mediators and the phosphorylation of IκBα and p65. Our results suggest that JPYF II enhanced anti-inflammatory and antioxidative activities in a mouse model of COPD induced by LPS and CS and in RAW264.7 cells stimulated with CSE via inhibition of the NF-κB pathway.

Juvenile ossifying fibromas (JOFs) are a rare group of fibro-osseous lesions, typically of odontogenic origin. Juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (JPOF) is one variant, that is, histopathologically distinguished by spherical ossicles resembling psammoma bodies. JPOF tumours are most commonly found in craniofacial skeletal structures and can be locally aggressive. Thus, early management by complete surgical excision is crucial for good outcomes, although recurrence is still possible. Secondary aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) formation has been reported with JOF lesions, but less commonly with the JPOF variant. We describe an unusual case of JPOF that presented in the calcaneus with secondary ABC formation.

When compared to independent harmonic or stochastic excitation, there exist relatively few methods to model the response of non-linear systems to a combination of deterministic and stochastic vibration despite the likelihood of harmonic oscillations containing noise in realistic applications. This paper uses the Duffing oscillator to illustrate how the joint probability density function (JPDF) of the displacement and velocity responds to this form of excitation. Monte Carlo simulations were performed to generate the JPDF which was observed, in general, to spread around the trajectory that would be observed if only deterministic excitation was present. In the deterministic chaotic case, the JPDF is known to be a diffuse chaotic attractor when noise is present. This paper assesses the ability of a useful class of methods, global weighted residual methods, to produce the geometrically complex JPDF responses produced from harmonic and white noise excitation. A technique using a JPDF in the form of a Gram–Charlier type C series was found to produce accurate results, although the method fails due to ill-conditioning as the shape of the JPDF required by the dynamics becomes too complex.

Juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (JPOF) is a rare benign osseous tumor, usually presenting in the midface. There are many similarities in location, presentation, and radiographic appearance between fibrous dysplasia (FD) and JPOF. Awareness of this entity is important for craniofacial surgeons, as surgical timing and intraoperative management differ between these tumors. Findings that should raise suspicion of JPOF preoperatively include rapid growth, a shell of cortical bone surrounding the lesion, and clearly demarcated borders of the lesion on imaging, as opposed to a gradual transition between normal and abnormal bone. Definitive excision is the treatment of choice, and earlier surgery may provide better results by addressing the lesion at the smallest size possible. In contrast to FD, JPOF is not known to “burn out,” so there is minimal benefit to be gained from delay. We present a summary of the evidence for diagnosis and treatment of JPOF as well our experience with JPOF in an 11-year-old female who was initially diagnosed with FD. We aim to draw attention to the similar presentations of these entities so the reader will be able to more accurately manage these patients.

Wild rice relatives having the same AA genome as domesticated rice (Oryza sativa) comprise the primary gene pool for rice genetic improvement. Among them, O. meridionalis and O. rufipogon are found in the northern part of Australia. Three Australian wild rice strains, Jpn1 (O. rufipogon), Jpn2, and W1297 (O. meridionalis), and one cultivated rice cultivar Taichung 65 (T65) were used in this study. A recurrent backcrossing strategy was adopted to produce chromosomal segment substitution lines (CSSLs) carrying chromosomal segments from wild relatives and used for trait evaluation and genetic analysis. The segregation of the DNA marker RM136 locus on chromosome 6 was found to be highly distorted, and a recessive lethal gene causing abortion at the seed developmental stage was shown to be located between two DNA markers, KGC6_10.09 and KGC6_22.19 on chromosome 6 of W1297. We name this gene as SEED DEVELOPMENT 1 (gene symbol: SDV1). O. sativa is thought to share the functional dominant allele Sdv1-s (s for sativa), and O. meridionalis is thought to share the recessive abortive allele sdv1-m (m for meridionalis). Though carrying the sdv1-m allele, the O. meridionalis accessions can self-fertilize and bear seeds. We speculate that the SDV1 gene may have been duplicated before the divergence between O. meridionalis and the other AA genome Oryza species, and that O. meridionalis has lost the function of the SDV1 gene and has kept the function of another putative gene named SDV2.

However, JPOF may also originate from the skull base and locally invade the cranium. In published reports, intracranial JPOFs constitute only a small percentage of cases, and therefore it is not known whether more aggressive behavior typifies this distinct population of JPOFs compared with those in other locations. Nevertheless, JPOF histopathology is characterized by a number of active processes, including cystic transformation, that may precipitate violation of skull base boundaries. In the following article, the authors present a case of skull base JPOF that underwent cystic expansion in a young girl, produced a focal neurological deficit, and was resolved using a staged surgical approach.

This paper details an extension of a Java parallel programming framework – JPLF. The JPLF framework is a programming framework that helps programmers build parallel programs using existing building blocks. The framework is based on {\em PowerLists} and PList Theories and it naturally supports multi-way Divide and Conquer. By using this framework, the programmer is exempted from dealing with all the complexities of writing parallel programs from scratch. This extension to the JPLF framework adds PLists support to the framework and so, it enlarges the applicability of the framework to a larger set of parallel solvable problems. Using this extension, we may apply more flexible data division strategies. In addition, the length of the input lists no longer has to be a power of two – as required by the PowerLists theory. In this paper we unveil new applications that emphasize the new class of computations that can be executed within the JPLF framework. We also give a detailed description of the data structures and functions involved in the PLists extension of the JPLF, and extended performance experiments are described and analyzed.

Neurocranial occurrence is exceedingly rare and a location within the neurocranial portion of the temporal bone has not been described. The authors report on one case of sinonasal JPOF secondarily extending into the cranial cavity and three cases primarily affecting the neurocranial bones to increase clinical awareness of this uncommon tumor, which may be easily mistaken for meningioma. Moreover, the absence of activating missense mutations of the GNAS1 gene in two cases strongly argues against a relationship between JPOF and fibrous dysplasia.

This lesion usually originates in the jaw, orbit, and ethmoid complex but can also be associated with the skull base and calvaria. Diagnosis must be made based on observing typical radiological and histopathological features. Although JPOF is a rare pathological entity, neurosurgeons must consider this odontogenic lesion in the differential diagnosis of skull masses given the lesion’s aggressive behavior and locally invasive growth. Treatment must be gross-total resection. In the following article, the authors present a case of cranial JPOF and discuss various aspects of this entity.

We present jpf-logic, an extension of the model checker Java PathFinder (JPF). Our extension jpf-logic provides a framework to check properties expressed in temporal logics such as linear temporal logic (LTL) and computation tree logic (CTL). To support a logic in our framework, we (1) implement a parser for the logic, (2) develop a hierarchy of classes that represent the abstract syntax of the logic and implement a transformation from parse trees of formulas to the corresponding abstract syntax trees, and (3) implement a model checking algorithm that takes as input an abstract syntax tree of a formula and a partial transition system. The latter represents a model of the Java application. All three components have been implemented for CTL. The first two have been implemented for LTL.

Early detection of all types of lung nodules with different characters in medical modality images using computer-aided detection is the best acceptable remedy to save the lives of lung cancer sufferers. But accuracy of different types of nodule detection rates is based on chosen segmented procedures for parenchyma and nodules. Separation of pleural from juxta-pleural nodules (JPNs) is difficult as intensity of pleural and attached nodule is similar. This research paper proposes a fully automated method to detect and segment JPNs. In the proposed method, lung parenchyma is segmented using iterative thresholding algorithm. To improve the nodules detection rate separation of connected lung lobes, an algorithm is proposed to separate connected left and right lung lobes. The new method segments JPNs based on lung boundary pixels extraction, concave points extraction, and separation of attached pleural from nodule. Validation of the proposed method was performed on LIDC-CT images. The experimental result confirms that the developed method segments the JPNs with less computational time and high accuracy.

Java Pathfinder (JPF) is currently the most feature-rich platform for an in-depth analysis of programs that run on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). However, using JPF and interpreting its results is a challenge. Dependencies on specific Java versions inhibit the adoption of JPF, and its textual output makes it hard to understand its analysis results. To this end, we present the Theia Trace Viewer (TTV) for JPF traces, which features a web-based graphical user interface. It does not only make it easier to get an overview of JPF traces, but it can visualize traces without requiring an installation on the client side, thus making JPF more accessible at the technical level as well. We evaluated TTV with several groups of users, showing the potential of our approach.

Tests that modify (i.e., "pollute") the state shared among tests in a test suite are called \polluter tests". Finding these tests is im- portant because they could result in di erent test outcomes based on the order of the tests in the test suite. Prior work has proposed the PolDet technique for nding polluter tests in runs of JUnit tests on a regular Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Given that Java PathFinder (JPF) provides desirable infrastructure support, such as systematically exploring thread schedules, it is a worthwhile attempt to re-implement techniques such as PolDet in JPF. We present a new implementation of PolDet for nding polluter tests in runs of JUnit tests in JPF. We customize the existing state comparison in JPF to support the so-called \common-root iso- morphism" required by PolDet. We find that our implementation is simple, requiring only -200 lines of code, demonstrating that JPF is a sophisticated infrastructure for rapid exploration of re-search ideas on software testing. We evaluate our implementation on 187 test classes from 13 Java projects and nd 26 polluter tests. Our results show that the runtime overhead of PolDet@JPF com- pared to base JPF is relatively low, on average 1.43x. However, our experiments also show some potential challenges with JPF.

Purpose. Smoking is prevalent in psychiatric facilities among staff and patients. However, there have been few studies of how contextual factors in specific cultures influence rates of smoking and the health promotion role of psychiatric nurses. This paper reports the findings of a classical grounded theory study conducted to understand how contextual factors in the workplace influences the smoking behaviors of Jordanian psychiatric nurses (JPNs).Method. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with a sample of eight male JPNs smokers at a psychiatric facility in Amman, Jordan.Findings. Constant comparative analysis identifiedbecoming a heavy smokeras a psychosocial process characterized by four sub-categories: normalization of smoking; living in ambiguity; experiencing workplace conflict; and, facing up to workplace stressors.Conclusion. Specific contextual workplace factors require targeted smoking cessation interventions if JPNs are to receive the help they need to reduce health risks associated with heavy smoking.

This study has two main objectives. The first one is to address the relationship between Economic Value Added (EVA) and Created Shareholders Value (CSV) in Jordanian public industrial firms (JPIF), comparing to the Return on Assets (ROA) over the period 2011-2015. The second objective is to address the possible superiority of EVA to ROA by explaining the changes in CSV for JPIF. In this study, CSV is measured using two models; Fernandez model and market value added model. Multiple and simple regressions were used in the study. These analyses have shown, generally, that the superiority of EVA in predicting and evaluating the CSV could be put into a conclusive and positive light compared to ROA. However, the results suggested that one financial measure cannot be enough to measure neither CSV nor firms’ performance. Therefore, this study highly recommends that JPIF use a combination of different measure in assessing and evaluating their value and performance, especially modern indicators.

100 Background: AVAGAST study showed regional differences in efficacy, including notable differences in progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival in the PL arm. In Japan, there is a certain number of pts with minimal peritoneal metastasis (PM) diagnosed only by laparoscopy or open surgery, which seems unusual in Western as well as in other Asian countries, and it might have led the differences. Therefore, an exploratory analysis was conducted among the PL arm to examine pt characteristics including PM associated with differences in outcome between JPN and ROW. Methods: We compared PFS of PL arm between pts enrolled from JPN and those from ROW. Hazard ratio (HR) and its 95% confidence interval (95%CI) between JPN and ROW were calculated using Cox’s proportional hazard model for each major covariates (disease status, performance status, prior gastrectomy, prior (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy, age, sex, primary site, liver metastasis (mets), number of metastatic sites, disease measurability, histologic type, maximum of tumor size, sum of tumor size, bone mets, PM and only PM) Results: 188 pts from 14 sites were enrolled from JPN, of which 94 pts were randomized to PL arm. Compared with 293 pts from ROW in PL arm, PFS tend to be favorable in JPN. Subgroups of JPN without liver mets, with diffuse or mixed type gastric cancer (GC), with PM and with only PM were clearly favorable than that of ROW. The difference in subgroup with PM was especially large with lower confidence limit of 1.21. 4065 Background: For assessments of tumor response in upper gastrointestinal cancers, Japanese criteria (JPN), which needs X-ray or endoscopic findings for primary lesion, has been generally used in Japan instead of international RECIST or WHO criteria. To compare the inter-criteria reproducibility of these radiological assessments, we analyzed the datasets of tumor responses from two phase III trials. Methods: A total of 115 gastric cancer patients in two treatment arms of JCOG9205, 5-FU and 5-FU plus cisplatin, and 103 esophageal cancer patients in a neoadjuvant 5-FU plus cisplatin arm of JCOG9907 were eligible for this analysis. Overall response rates (ORR) were calculated according to each of three criteria. The tumor responses, furthermore, were divided into four categories (CR, PR, SD, PD), following estimation of kappa statistics between two criteria as agreement measure. Results: As shown in the Table , ORR according to RECIST and WHO were very similar in both cancers. JPN tended to estimate higher ORR comparing to RECIST or WHO, particularly in esophageal cancer. In gastric cancer, kappa for concordance to RECIST were 0.92 for WHO and 0.86 for JPN. While in esophageal cancer, kappa were 0.72 for WHO and 0.40 for JPN. Conclusions: In these trials for gastric cancer and esophageal cancer, there was fairly consistent reproducibility between unidimensional RECIST and bidimensional WHO criteria. JPN criteria, depending on assessment of primary lesion, may give higher ORR particularly in esophageal cancer, and cautious interpretation may be necessary when evaluating ORR from Japanese trials using JPN criteria (Table). The development of low-emission aero-engine combustors strongly depends on the availability of accurate and efficient numerical models. The prediction of the interaction between two-phase flow and chemical combustion is one of the major objectives of the simulation of combustor flows. In this paper, predictions of a swirl stabilized model combustor are compared to experimental data. The computational method is based on an Eulerian two-phase model in conjunction with an eddy dissipation (ED) and a presumed-shape-PDF (JPDF) combustion model. The combination of an Eulerian two-phase model with a JPDF combustion model is a novelty. It was found to give good agreement to the experimental data.

Preschool Activity Card Sort (PACS) is a valid measure of preschoolers’ participation and is a useful and unique tool for focusing on the extent and frequency of their participation. However, given the cultural differences between Japan and other countries, researchers should consider these differences when adapting the PACS for use with children in Japan. The purpose of this study was to select culturally suitable activity items to develop the Japanese version of PACS (PACS-JPN). A two-round survey of parents (who had typically developing children aged between 3 and 6 years) was conducted. The final version of the PACS-JPN included 98 activity items. The PACS-JPN reflects Japanese sociocultural background and allows occupational therapists to assess preschoolers’ actual participation by assessing multiple aspects of children’s community life. The psychometric properties, including the validity and reliability of the PACS-JPN should be examined in future research.

Java Path nder (JPF) is a virtual machine executing Java byte- code that is able to perform model checking using backtracking execution. Due to backtracking, parts of a program may be ex- ecuted multiple times during model checking. Hence, we explore whether method summaries can be used to make JPF's model checking more efficient. We present the design and implementa- tion of dynamically generated summaries as an extension of JPF. While our summaries incur an overhead that outweighs the bene- ts in most cases, the approach shows promise in certain cases, in particular when stateless model checking is used. We also provide some results related to cases when our summaries are applicable that could provide guidance for future work within this eld.

Understanding the effects of defect creation during plasma exposure is crucial for designing future ultra-low leakage current devices. Created defects play a role as carrier conduction paths, leading to an increase in the p–n junction leakage current (Δ Jpn). Herein, we propose a model focusing on the effects of created defects on Δ Jpn in combination with technology computer-aided design simulations. Three different defect spatial distributions, ndam( x), (linear, exponential, and Gaussian) were implemented for predicting Δ Jpn under various operating conditions. It was confirmed that Δ Jpn is strongly dependent on ndam( x), in addition to the total number of defects and generally accepted energy levels. The prediction model was implemented to experimentally assign the profile of defects created by an emerging mechanism—lateral straggling of incident ions—under fluorocarbon-containing plasma exposure, which is commonly employed in electrical contact opening steps. Devices with various lateral p–n junction widths and contact opening areas were exposed to the plasma. The experimental results of Δ Jpn revealed that the profile of defects in the lateral direction was exponential. The proposed model prediction scheme is useful for designing plasma processes and circuit layouts to realize future ultra-low leakage current devices.

The Japanese national guidelines recommend significantly lower doses of carvedilol for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) management than the US guidelines. Using real-world data, we determined whether initial and target doses of carvedilol in Japanese patients (JPNs) differ from those in US patients (USPs), especially in Asian Americans (ASA) and Caucasians (CA), and investigated differences in outcomes. We collected data from the electronic medical records, including demographics, carvedilol dosing, tolerability, cardiac functional indicators like EF, cardiovascular events including all-cause deaths, and laboratory values from the University of California, San Diego Health and Osaka University. JPNs had significantly lower doses (mg/day) of carvedilol initiation (66 USPs composed of 38 CAs and 28 ASAs, 17.1±16.2; 93 JPNs, 4.3±4.2, p<0.001) and one year after initiation (33.0±21.8; 11.2±6.5, p<0.001), and a significantly lower relative rate (RR) of dose discontinuation and reduction than USPs (RR: 0.406, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.181–0.911, p<0.05). CAs showed the highest reduction rate (0.184), and ASAs had the highest discontinuation rate (0.107). A slight mean difference with narrow 95% CI ranges straddling zero was observed between the two regions in the change from the baseline of each cardiac functional indicator (LVEF, -0.68 [−5.49–4.12]; LVDd, −0.55 [−3.24–2.15]; LVDd index, −0.25 [−1.92–1.43]; LVDs, −0.03 [−3.84–3.90]; LVDs index, −0.04 [−2.38–2.30]; heart rate, 1.62 [−3.07–6.32]). The event-free survival showed no difference (p = 0.172) among the races. Conclusively, despite JPNs exhibiting markedly lower carvedilol doses, their dose effectiveness has the potential to be non-inferior to that in USPs. Dose de-escalation, not discontinuation, could be an option in some Asian and ASA HFrEF patients intolerable to high doses of carvedilol.

Abstract Different phytochemicals from various plant species exhibit promising medicinal properties against cancer. Juniperus phoenicea is a plant species that has been found to present medicinal properties. Herein, crude extract and fractions of J. phoenicea were examined to determine its anticancer properties against several cancer cells. The active fraction was chosen to assess its activity on cell cycle progression and apoptosis induction by annexin and propidium iodide (PI) biomarkers. Further, phytochemical screening for possible contents of active fraction using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis was conducted. It was demonstrated that cell proliferation was suppressed, and the MCF-7 cell line was the most sensitive to J. phoenicea chloroform fraction (JPCF), with the IC50 values of 24.5 μg/mL. The anti-proliferation activity of JPCF in MCF-7 cells was linked to the aggregation of cells in the G1 phase, increases in early and late apoptosis as well as necrotic cell death. Contents analysis of JPCF using GC-MS analysis identified 3-methyl-5-(2′,6′,6′-trimethylcyclohex-1′-enyl)-1-penten-3-ol (16.5%), methyl 8-oxooctanoate (15.61%), cubenol (13.48%), and 7-oxabicyclo [2.2.1] heptane (12.14%) as major constituents. Our present study provides clear evidence that J. phoenicea can inhibit cell proliferation, trigger cell cycle arrest, and induce apoptosis in tested cancer cells.

Jaboticaba (Plinia spp.) peel is an emerging co-product with high levels of flavonoids, anthocyanins, and differentiated sensory characteristics. During the industrial processing of jaboticaba, as in the production of juices, only the pulp is used, and the peel is discarded. This work aimed to produce sequilho biscuits with different concentrations of jaboticaba peel flour (JPF) and evaluate the technological and sensory properties of the products. Biscuits with four concentrations of JPF (B1= 0.75%, B2= 1.5% B3= 2.25% and B4= 3.0%) were prepared. The physicochemical analysis, instrumental texture, color, total flavonoids, and total anthocyanins were evaluated. Sensory perceptions were investigated using the check-all-that-apply (CATA) questionnaire, hedonic scale, and purchase intention scale. Jaboticaba peel flour had high levels of total flavonoids (227.9±14.6 mg 100 g-1) and total anthocyanins (114.2±4.2 mg cyanidin-3-glycoside 100 g-1). Specific volume and bite force were not affected by the addition of JPF. The global impression for all biscuits elaborated with JPF ranged from approximately 6.5 to 7.5. It positively influenced the global impression of the biscuits, with associations with the CATA terms of fruit flavor, jaboticaba flavor, and fruit aroma. However, terms related to the texture, such as fibrous and hard, negatively influenced the global impression. It is recommended to produce sequilho biscuits with JPF addition up to 1.5%. This study demonstrated that the food industry could better exploit the jaboticaba peel, meeting consumer demand for products with differentiated sensory characteristics

The subgrid-scale (SGS) potential temperature flux and stress in the atmospheric surface layer are studied using field measurement data. We analyse the mean values of the SGS temperature flux, the SGS temperature flux production rate, the SGS temperature variance production rate, the SGS stress and the SGS stress production rate conditional on both the resolvable-scale velocity and temperature, which must be reproduced by SGS models for large-eddy simulation to reproduce the one-point resolvable-scale velocity–temperature joint probability density function (JPDF). The results show that the conditional statistics generally depend on the resolvable-scale velocity and temperature fluctuations, indicating that these conditional variables have strong influences on the resolvable-scale statistics. The dependencies of the conditional SGS stress and the SGS stress production rate, which are partly due to the effects of flow history and buoyancy, suggest that model predictions of the SGS stress also affect the resolvable-scale temperature statistics. The results for the conditional flux and the conditional flux production rate vectors have similar trends. These conditional vectors are also well aligned. The positive temperature fluctuations associated with updrafts are found to have a qualitatively different influence on the conditional statistics than the negative temperature fluctuations associated with downdrafts. The conditional temperature flux and the temperature flux production rate predicted using several SGS models are compared with measurements in statistical a priori tests. The predictions using the nonlinear model are found to be closely related to the predictions using the Smagorinsky model. Several potential effects of the SGS model deficiencies on the resolvable-scale statistics, such as the overprediction of the vertical mean temperature gradient and the underprediction of the vertical temperature flux, are identified. The results suggest that efforts to improve the LES prediction of a resolvable-scale statistic must consider all the relevant SGS components identified using the JPDF equation and the surface layer dynamics. This study also provides impetus for further investigations of the JPDF equation, especially analytical studies on the relationship between the JPDF and the SGS terms that govern its evolution.

This paper describes six projects, most of which are part of the research portfolio of the EERA JPNM, devoted to qualification, modelling and development of structural and fuel materials for advanced and innovative nuclear systems, with also two examples of projects addressing issues of cross-cutting interest through fusion and fission. The main conclusion is that the benefit of the coordination under the umbrella of, in this case, the EERA JPNM, is clearly felt in terms of better alignment of national programmes and subsequent leveraging of institutional funding, to integrate Euratom support. Likewise, the benefit of addressing specific issues of common interest for fusion and fission is not only beneficial because of cross-fertilisation, but also because it allows more rational use of human and infrastructural resources, avoiding duplications.

Background/Objectives: Enhancing agricultural productivity is crucial for fostering economic growth. Plant diseases significantly threaten crops, necessitating timely detection to mitigate adverse impacts on quality, quantity, and overall productivity. This research addresses the importance of early disease detection in agriculture and proposes an innovative method utilizing Jacobian Polynomial and Laplacian Function for precise identification. Methods: Efficient monitoring of large-scale crop farms with minimal workforce is essential. To achieve this, an automatic method for plant disease detection is proposed. The method leverages Jacobian polynomials to expand input features, mitigating correlation issues among input vectors. The expanded Jacobi polynomial is the input vector for a backpropagation algorithm with a novel activation function based on the Laplacian function. Findings: The efficacy of the proposed JPLF model is demonstrated through the accurate identification of leaf diseases, achieving a high testing accuracy of 92.07%. Comparative analysis with existing models, such as CNN with MobileNet V2 (85.38%) and the IoU model (83.75%), highlights the superiority of the JPLF model in plant disease detection. Abstract Juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (OF) is a rare histological variant of OF with aggressive behavior. It is a benign fibro-osseous lesion with a high rate of recurrence. It occurs mainly in male children with paranasal sinuses and orbits the most common sites. The diagnosis depends on clinical, radiologic, and pathologic correlation. This study aims to present a case report of juvenile psammomatoid OF (JPOF) in a 9-year-old boy and to also review the relevant literature. A case of a 9-year-old boy who presented with a 1-year history of the left maxillary swelling was presented. There was no associated history of pain, ulceration, bleeding, or teeth mobility. There was no history of previous trauma to the site or teeth extraction. The patient had no difficulty in chewing, speaking, nasal blockage, or discharge. Examination revealed an ovoid left maxillary buccal mass measuring about 4 cm × 3 cm, which was hard, nontender with no teeth mobility. The diagnosis of JPOF made was confirmed through a combination of clinical, radiological, and histopathological findings. The patient had enucleation of the lesion under general anesthesia. Follow-up was satisfactory with no recurrence. JPOF is a rare histological variant of OF that is known to exhibit a high rate of recurrence. Although clinical and radiological features contribute to its diagnosis, histopathological examination has been the main diagnostic modality. Early detection and treatment are essential.

Citizen identification in Malaysia is managed by Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN); a Malaysian Government Agency responsible in producing a national identification card called MyKad which contains textual information of the MyKad holder as well as fingerprint data. The current business modal solely relies on fingerprint identification as recognition process which presents limitations to Malaysian citizens who have finger disabilities. Currently, this matter is addressed by having applicants provide proof of identification which is then verified by the agency within three months. To improve efficiency of this process as well as making it friendlier for applicants to apply their MyKad, the use of facial recognition is proposed as a potential solution. A series of study was conducted with JPN, which intends to measure the reliability of a multimodal biometrics system in JPN environment for finger-disabled applicants. Findings demonstrate that Multimodal Biometrics System using Facial Recognition is reliable for individual identification.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh reinokulasi jamur dan bakteri pada Tithonia sebagai pagar lorong dalam memperbaiki sifat fisika tanah. Metoda yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 3 kelompok. Hasil penelitian di uji secara statistik dengan uji F, bila berbeda nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ) pada taraf 5 %. Adapun perlakuan di lapangan yaitu: A = Kontrol (titonia tanpa perlakuan mikroba), B = Mikoriza (campuran) + Azospirillum + Azotobakter, C = Tanpa pagar lorong titonia, D = Mikoriza (campuran) + JPF, E = Mikoriza (campuran) + BPF, F = Mikoriza (campuran) + BPF + JPF. Percobaan menggunakan 6 perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa titonia sebagai pagar lorong yang direinokulasi dengan gabungan mikoriza + Jamur Pelarut Fosfat mempunyai kemampuan terbesar dalam mengurangi aliran permukaan sekitar 165.2 m3/ha (73.86 %) dan tanah tererosi sebanyak 0.81 ton/ha (82.65 %). Sedangkan Berat volume tanah tertinggi diperlihatan oleh perlakuan C (tanpa pagar lorong titonia) sebesar 0.83 g/cm3 dan yang terendah pada perlakuan D (mikoriza + JPF) sebesar 0.72 g/cm3.

Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah yuridis normatif, yang menganalisis peraturan perundang-undangan yang dikonsepsikan sebagai aturan-aturan yang telah diterima sebagai aturan yang sah karena dikeluarkan oleh lembaga yang berwenang. Berdasarkan penelitian bahwa dalam praktik JPN telah menjalankan kewenangannya sesuai dengan pengaturan yang diberikan oleh Undang-Undang No. 37 Tahun 2004. Perlindungan hukum yang diberikan oleh Jaksa Pengacara Negara ialah perlindungan hukum yang bersifat preventif. Selain itu, JPN dapat meminta keterangan kurator terkait penempatan kreditor yang diwakili ke dalam suatu daftar serta menegaskan adanya hak untuk didahulukan. The Activity Card Sort (ACS) can both record the clients’ participation and any changes, which is a useful tool for practitioners to establish tailored occupation-focused goals. However, there is a limitation to apply the ACS to Japanese older adults as it consists of culturally relevant activities in the United States. The aim of this study was to select activity items reflecting Japanese older adults’ lifestyles and opinions to develop the Activity Card Sort–Japan Version (ACS-JPN). In the item selection process, a two-round questionnaire survey was conducted for community-dwelling Japanese older adults (Round 1: n = 177, M age = 69.9 years; Round 2: n = 178, M age = 74.9 years). Seventy-two activity items were finally included in the ACS-JPN and were classified into four domains. The ACS-JPN has some unique features compared with other ACS versions. This study only selected activity items. Further work on psychometric properties is needed.

ABSTRACT Jabuticaba (Myrciaria cauliflora Berg) is agreatly appreciated fruit with nutritional importance, primarily found in the majority of Brazil. Its peel is a discarded by-product of the Brazilian agroindustry. The objective of this study was to develop cookie formulations with partial replacement of wheat flour (WF) and oat flour (OF) by jabuticaba peel meal (JPF), analyzing the technological aspects of the elaborate cookies and evaluating the acceptance of the selected product. All regression models of the cookies with JPF flour were significant. Cookies with JPF tended to blemish and had smaller thicknesses, greater ISA and IAA, smaller values of breaking strength and decreased color parameters (L*, a* and b*) compared to standard cookies. Cookies made with larger OF fractions had lower values of specific volume. Both the standard and the selected cookies from the cookie desirability test were deemed acceptable among students. This work presents a new possibility to produce cookies based on an agro-industrial co-products, which is interesting for the market for this type of product.

Estimation of seismic velocities and subsurface reservoir properties in deep, complex, geologic environments calls for the coordination of new acquisition technology with novel depth-domain inversion methods. Here, we propose a method for inversion of subsurface reflectivity image gathers that jointly relies on broadband data acquired by multimeasurement methods (vector-acoustic data; pressure and its gradients) from monopole (pressure) and dipole (e.g., gradient) sources. Our inversion retrieves depth-domain extended images (EIs), which represent the full nonlinear reflectivity operators with pseudosources and pseudoreceivers within the subsurface, as a function of time or frequency. Based on recent advances in interferometry by multidimensional deconvolution (MDD), we present two MDD-based imaging conditions for an EI inversion. One imaging condition consists of deconvolving correlation-based EIs with the so-called joint point-spread function (JPSF). These methods can, in principle, account for imaging primaries as well as internal and free-surface multiples. Because it is based on MDD, our JPSF approach can fully account for blended/simultaneous-source data in imaging with no need to deblend/separate the simultaneous-source data prior to imaging. Using dual-source vector-acoustic data, we describe how the EI JPSF system is constructed by separating source and receiver wavefields from receiver-side upgoing and ghost data, from pressure and gradient sources. With numerical examples, we demonstrate how the method successfully inverts for EIs representing subsurface reflectivity, while benefiting from the increase in temporal and spatial bandwidth brought on by the joint use of dual-source vector-acoustic data. Although here we focus on broadband streamer seismic applications, our joint wavefield inversion approach provides a framework for jointly imaging data from multiple experiments of any kind (e.g., surface and borehole, active and passive) with acoustic, elastic, and electromagnetic fields.
