Annotation:
Han Shu is our first history book which narrates the story by dynasty. It carries a lot of valuable information of the Han dynasty, both historically and literarily. However, because of the long-ago history, a lot of language, pronunciation, naming system, names of officials and places are now difficult to read and understand. Throughout the history, a number of people had analyzed Han Shu. These people have solved a lot of queries. Yang Shuda has high achievements in analyzing Han Shu. He is not only good at etymology and phonology but also analyzing parts of speech and sentence patterns. In terms of the use of materials, not only does he compare different versions of literature, but also uses inscriptions and even cultural data such as marriage and death for analysis. All these contribute to his unique analysis. The analysis of Han Shu has opened up a new field as more and more materials are excavated. Bronze, lacquer and even lute and currency are used in research. This has broadened the academic horizons and solved many mysteries. In 1983, in Hubei province, a lot of Han bamboo slips were excavated, which have provided tremendous help to our understanding of the medicine, law, mathematics and others of the Han dynasty. By the time when current books of Han analysis such as Yang Shuda’s Han Shu Kui Guan were punished, bamboo clips of Zhangjiashan were not yet unearthed. It is unable to invoke this important information, resulting in some doubtful content. I hereby try to make use of these bamboo slips to supplement previous comments, provide new research directions, or affirm previous results. This dissertation is divided to six parts. Each uses the notes of current analysts as the starting point while incorporating Zhangjiashan Han bamboo slips. My analysis is based on Yang Shuda Han Shu Kui Guan, together with the analysis of some current analysts.

Since the antiquity, the Book of Change (Zhouyi 周易) has been praised as the leading scripture among the five classics (with the Book of Documents [Shangshu 尚書], the Book of Odes [Shijing 詩經], the Spring and Autumn Annals [Chunqiu 春秋], and the Book of Rites [Liji 禮記]), and the supreme dao of the three mysteries (with Laozi 老子 and Zhuangzi 莊子). However, its guayaoci 卦爻辭 (general and line judgments of the hexagrams) are not only recondite but also proliferate with conflicting exegeses that lead nowhere. Fortunately, multiple early manuscripts of the Book of Change, including those from the Mawangdui 馬王堆 silk texts, the Fuyang 阜陽 bamboo slips, and the Chu 楚 bamboo slips housed at the Shanghai Museum, were excavated over the past forty years. These, combined with other related archaeological findings, found the basis for a scrupulous reading of the guayaoci. I attempt to compare the Shanghai Museum manuscript, which is the earliest extant copy of the Book of Change, with the traditional editions and other excavated copies to arrive at a reasoned exposition based on previous interpretation and through manifold research methods such as philology, textual criticism and theosophy. The present thesis examines seven guyaoci from seven hexagrams: 1 “li yong qin fa 利用侵伐” of the fifth line of qian 謙; 2 “bu fu yi qi lin 不富以其鄰” of the fifth line of qian 謙 and the fourth line of tai 泰, and “fu yi qi lin 富以其鄰” of the fifth line of xiaochu 小畜; 3 the naming of wuwang 无妄 and its meaning; 4 “wuwang zhi ji, wu yao you xi 无妄之疾,勿藥有喜” of the fifth line of wuwang 无妄; 5 “he tian zhi qu 何天之衢” of the sixth line of dachu 大畜; 6 “lu suosuo, si qi suo qu zai 旅瑣瑣,斯其所取災” of the first line of lu 旅; and finally 7 “ru you yiru 繻有衣袽” of the fourth line of jiji 既濟.

“Shi-Ji” is a widely known ancient Chinese literature, it has been respected by famous Chinese scholars. However, before the Song Dynasty, academia lacked a professional analysis of “Shi-Ji”. Until the mid-Ming Dynasty, because of the economic situation, imperial examinations, and the ability to print literature, there was a rise in the literary community’s interactation with and review of “Shi-Ji”. Soon after, many books were printed that assessed and critiqued “Shi-Ji”. Most of the content of these books still remains in circulation and are still reviewed and appreciated today. After the Qing Dynasty, Wu Jian-Si who was greatly influenced by the well-known literary critic, Jin Sheng-Tan, published his research work in a book entitled “Shi-Ji” Lun Wen”. In his book, Wu Jian-Si engages readers through colorful language as he attempts a systematic and comprehensive analysis of “Shi-Ji”, explaining the characteristics of clear reasoning. This book was widely received and has been reprinted several times throughout the Qing Dynasty to the early Republic. Wu Jian-Si’s original intent was to elevate the literary value of “Shi-Ji” by having a focused discussion on the literary achievement of “Shi-Ji”. By avoiding the previous irrelevant comments, he clearly reviews this piece of literature and brings a fresh perspective. In my paper, I will attempt to analyze “Shi-Ji” by studying Wu Jian-Si’s writing I will compare the pros and cons of critical methods, look at the construction of his critical theory, and seek to further understand his writing’s objectives. Finally, I will define the significance and contributions of “Shi-Ji”. The text is divided into seven chapters: Chapter I. My motivation and previous studies. Chapter II. Wu Jian-Si’s life, family background, the process of writing and publishing “Shi-Ji Lun Wen”, and it’s popularity. Chapter III. Hua Jian Ji’s inclusion of the Wu Dynasty’s Xi shu ci made the literary work last for centuries. The eighteen prime writers were mostly born from shu, or work for the local government, keeping a very close relationship to the region. In retrospect, Hua Jian Ji has virtually become Xi shu ci’s summation and representation. Thus, it is a very crucial material of the Xi shu ci study. Through meticulous inferring, analyzing and deducing, this paper examines “Quan Tang Wu Dynasty Ci”, an anthology edited by Zeng Zhao Min which includes 416 Xi shu cis, as a way to discern the writers’ backgrounds, also literary themes and artistic features of the writings. There are seven chapters in this paper: The first chapter is the preface, indicating motivation of study, materials of and approaches to the paper. The second chapter: “Introduction of the Xi shu ci Writers’ Biography and Composing Background”, pointing out Xi shu ci writers’ diverse mien. The third and fourth chapters are “The Literary Themes of Xi Shu Ci Writings”, classifying 416 cis into two major genres: love affairs and folkways, each with seven subcategories, discussing the profundity and conceptions of the works. The appendix is a form of “The Literary Themes of Xi shu ci Writings”. The fifth chapter is “Xi shu ci Writers’ Adoption of Diao and Yun”, sorting out these writers’ communal preferences of choosing the key two elements while composing. The appendix is the form of “Xi shu ci Writers’ Adoption of Diao and Yun”. From the aspects of wording, allusion, and imagery, the sixth chapter aims at analyzing “Xi shu ci Writers’ artistic features”. The seventh chapter is a general summation of previous chapters, revealing Xi shu ci writers’ achievement, prestige, and influence, as an integral review of the everlasting literary works.

A Study on the Application of Constructivism in Wu Shu Teaching in Senior High School Doctoral Dissertation, 2007.01 Shy Deng-Yau Advisor: Hsu I-Hsiung Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the process and result of learner’s constructing Wu Shu motor skill within constructivist approach teaching of Wu Shu. This study adopted the purposeful sampling way to select participants from a public high school in Taipei. Two male PE teachers and one third-grade class (19 boys and 7 girls) and a group of volunteers from four classes of the first-graders (11 boys and 12 girls). Each group participated in four PE lessons using the constructivist approach. These lessons adopted the learning situation of free creation, offering the teaching activity design for discussion, talk, sharing, and motor skills practice. Five steps fist motor skill tests were administered. Data were collected through participant- observations of teaching experiment, video-tape recording, tape-recording of talk during the teaching process, and group interview of the learners. These data were prepared as field notes and prescriptions and qualitatively analyzed by coding as suggested in grounded theory. The coding strategies included microscopic examination of data, open coding, axial coding and coding for process. Motor skill tests results were also interpreted at the same time. The results of the study were as follows: (1)Constructivist approach teaching of Wu Shu should place learner under the learning situation of independent creation, in discussing, talk, and mutual learning of motor skill practice, to facilitate the learners to construct motor skill and knowledge of Wu Shu. (2)There were five stages to construct Wu Shu motor skills: exploring and understanding, movement completion, adjusting and refining, movement fixation, interpreting and creating. The learner could perform completely from motor skills tests as it was clearly shown in the constructed learning content of a five steps fist. (3)The factors which influenced the constructive behavior of learners were learner’s autonomy, understanding fist chart, panel discussion, cooperating talk, sharing, motor skill practice, and creative of learning content. (4)Through understanding of fist chart, motor skills cognitive concepts was learned, the literal meaning were internalized while practicing, meaning that the literal understanding possessed physicality. Learners had learned the motor skills well, and made the motor skills become a part of their exercise habits, needed literal concepts meaning and motor concepts meaning to be accepted by whole body and embodied. Keywords: constructivism, constructivist approach teaching, Wu Shu motor skill, qualitative research, grounded theory

Abstract The balance and appearance of horse stance are crucial index of scoring in martial arts competition. The purpose of this study was to investigate the following issue: The relative percentage of the muscle groups used in horse stance to their MVC volume, the order of muscular fatigue among the muscle groups used in horse stance and the comparison of MF and iEMG between pre- and post- fatigue of these muscle groups. 10 elite martial art athletes were involved as subjects (4 from Chinese Culture University, 6 from Taipei College of Physical Education, age: 20.7±2.5 yr, height: 166.7±7.1 cm, weight: 62.1±8.97 kg, years of practicing: 6.2±1.5 yr). All subjects were informed about the EMG experiment process and underwent sufficient warming up, and then, performed horse stance till fatigue (all out). The device used in this study was German Biovision EMG System. EMG signals of five muscle groups (rectus femoris, bicep femoris, gluteus maximus, tibialis anterior and soleus) were recorded by surface Electromyography. The MVC of every muscle group were recorded by manual method as basic volume. The relative percentage of MVC was calculated by dividing the average amplitude of EMG with MVC. The order of fatigue among these muscle groups was calculated by repeat measure of covariance. The index of fatigue was defined as MF 50% decline. The average of 10-phased iEMG and MF were calculated and the first 10% was compared with the last 90% by dependent t-test in order to know the differences before and after fatigue. The variations among different muscle groups were analyzed by dependent one-way ANOVA. After analyzing the results, we concluded that the pre and post fatigue relative MVC percentage for these five muscle groups were pre- 26%, post- 26% for rectus femoris, pre- 13%, post- 19% for bicep femoris, pre-26%, post- 44% for gluteus maximus, pre-38%, post- 30% for tibialis anterior and pre-35%, post 50% for soleus. The order of fatigue among these muscle groups was: bicep femoris, quadriceps, gluteus maximus, soleus and tibialis anterior. Among these muscle groups, only the MF of quadriceps, the iEMG of bicep femoris and soleus showed significant difference before and after fatigue. There is no difference between the corelation of MVC and Fatigue time. All these results revealed that gluteus maximus was the muscle group that reached maximum fatigue. As an application in training, the most important muscle group in horse stance is gluteus maximus while quadriceps is the second. However, according to the fact that bicep femoris was the muscle group that reached fatigue first, the researcher believed that the importance of muscular strength was neglected in flexibility-oriented type of training. In order to maximize the balance of landing, athletes should emphasize their strength training on tibialis anterior and soleus.

Abstract The study is based on the needs of educational field and chronology concept which have its importance for the promotion of enhancing historical thinking ability. So, this essay is aimed at taking the elementary students as subjects to use action research development program for the Chronological Teaching and explore the effectiveness of its implementation. Through action research, the majority of students have understood the significance of calendar systems, but the diversity of time terminology is likely to affect learning performance. And most students can master the calculating of calendar , but they still need to learn how to determine the starting and ending time of the event. Moreover, all students can understand the historical events in the historical framework. However, it is still needed to be strengthened for the selection and integration of events. In addition, most students can make good use of timing expressions and in accordance with the timing of the development to do oral history. After the students participating the action research, the average of chronology concept assess was fallen in level of 2 to 3. In addition, the study of teaching programs will be aligned ,and did the partial correction and adjustment. Contents are as follows: First, the historical image and video data are excellent medium of history teaching, because students are less exposed to the narrative history of the article. Teacher can guide students to read the article at home and collect information to enhance understanding of the event. In addition, through group discussions, students can understand the course better. Teacher's tips and instructions can also indicate the common mistakes and guide students to learn the correct direction. The oral activity uses a feedback mechanism to clarify students' ideas. According to research findings, this study proposes the following recommendations: First, when teacher designs the history learning sheet, One should fully understand the learning experiences of students and their ability to effectively guide the students to study. With the corporation of the same curriculum, it can make the upgrading of students’ historical thinking. Teachers with the same curriculum can make the leaning sheet together. It not only can make the text material but also can reduce the pressure of preparing the class lesson. If the time of the study can be extended to conduct more in-depth and extensive research, and organize complete planning of elementary, junior and senior high school Chronology teaching program , the students will gradually develop their ideas of chronology.
