Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn the automotive industry, several robots are required to simultaneously carry out welding sequences on the same vehicle. Assigning and coordinating welding tasks between robots is a manual and challenging phase that must be optimized using automatic tools. The cycle time of the cell strongly depends on different robotic factors such as the task allocation among the robots, the configuration solutions, and obstacle avoidance. Moreover, a key aspect, often neglected in the state-ofthe- art, is to define a strategy to solve the robotic task sequencing with an effective robot-robot collision avoidance integration. This thesis is motivated by solving this industrial problem and seeks to raise different research challenges. It begins by presenting the current state-of-the-art solutions regarding robotic planning. An in-depth investigation is carried out on the related existing academic/industrial solutions to solve the robotic task sequencing problem, particularly for multi-robot systems. This investigation helps identify the challenges when integrating several robotic factors into the optimization process. An efficient iterative algorithm that generates a high-quality solution for the Multi-Robotic Task Sequencing Problem is presented. This algorithm manages not only the mentioned robotic factors but also aspects related to accessibility constraints and mutual collision avoidance. In addition, a home-developed planner (RoboTSPlanner) handling six-axis robots has been validated in a real case scenario. In order to ensure the completeness of the proposed methodology, we perform optimization in the task, configuration, and coordination space in a synergistic way. Compared to the existing approaches, both simulation and real experiments reveal positive results in terms of cycle time and show the ability of this method to be interfaced with both industrial simulation software and ROS-I tools

It is particularly interested in the sector of the tourism industry in Côte d'Ivoire. Business Intelligence is today part integral of the world economy based on the knowledge economy, it is the central link in the chain information and enables organizations to identify growth opportunities while protecting any threats. The concept, born within large groups of developed countries, often cannot be applied as to small and medium-sized organizations and even less to those of the countries of the third world. Côte d'Ivoire struggling to get out of the crisis and important organizational and structural disorders that undermine its economy, has difficulties to find its place in this 'new' collective culture of the information era. Our approach will be based on prior interviews to any analysis, to establish a model meso economic IE cell viable in Côte d'Ivoire. On a methodological level, this thesis is structured after a review of the literature, to the selection of a sample of 10 companies of the Ivorian tourism industry in a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews. It breaks down into six chapters, offering the go from the general to the particular. These work highlighted the expectations and needs of the actors in a given area in Business Intelligence and lead to a series of actions to achieve for the practice of Business Intelligence in the Ivorian context, within the chosen activity. In replicative logic, this implementation plan can be applied to all the sectors on the basis of the expectations of the actors

For this dissertation a new algorithm called ‘Code2Vect’ is presented to overcome two challenges: visualization of high-dimensional data and regression in the low-data limit. The big data management solutions presented in this thesis highlight opportunities for apparel firms to look into their supply chains and identify big data resources that may be valuable, rare, and inimitable, and to use them to create data-driven strategies and establish dynamic capabilities to sustain their businesses in an uncertain business environment. With the help of these data-driven strategies, apparel firms can produce garments smartly to provide customers with a product that closer meets their needs, and as such drive sustainable consumption and production practices.In this context, this thesis aims to investigate whether apparel firms can improve their business operations by employing big data and AI, and in so doing, seek big data management opportunities using AI solutions. Firstly, the thesis identifies and classifies AI techniques that can be used at various stages of the supply chain to improve existing business operations. Secondly, the thesis presents product-related data to create a classification model and design rules that can create opportunities for providing personalized recommendations or customization, enabling better shopping experiences for customers. Thirdly, this thesis draws from the evidence in the industry and existing literature to make suggestions that may guide managers in developing data-driven strategies for improving customer satisfaction through personalized services. Finally, this thesis shows the effectiveness of data-driven analytical solutions in sustaining competitive advantage via the data and knowledge already present within the apparel supply chain. More importantly, this thesis also contributes to the field by identifying specific opportunities with big data management using AI solutions. Der volle Inhalt der QuelleWith the rise of AI-embedded systems assisting decisions in the context of medicine, justice, recruiting, Human-AI trust has become an utmost design priority. Numerous governments and large enterprises as well as researchers propose various strategies on how to foster trust in AI-embedded systems. However, trust is a complex, multifaceted concept, and Human-AI trust, being a recent research avenue, faces several challenges. On the theoretical level, the difference between trust and other related theoretical concepts (e.g. reliance, compliance, and trustworthiness) needs to be understood as well as the factors affecting Human-AI trust. On the methodological level, trust is difficult to assess, and appropriate protocols have to be understood. In this thesis, I tackle these challenges empirically through two lenses - academia and industry. I first conduct a systematic literature review of empirical studies on Human-AI trust in the context of decision making to get an overview of how trust is defined and evaluated in academia. However, as most studies are focusing on users' trust investigated in the controlled lab setting with AI mock-ups, I go further to investigate to which extent these findings hold true for other stakeholders with AI-embedded systems deployed in the market. To do so, I conduct a series of semi-structured interviews on the topic of Human-AI trust definitions and evaluation with people who develop and design AI-embedded systems assisting decision making and with people who are affected by these decisions. I argue that theoretical understanding of Human-AI trust directly affects experimental protocol and measures choices. Drawing from the social sciences literature, I propose guidelines on improving experimental protocols for studying Human-AI trust in the context of decision making. I also demonstrate that discussing theoretical concepts, such as Human-AI trust, with laypeople of different backgrounds not only can validate the academic theories, but also potentially contribute to theoretical advancement. Lastly, I provide an overview of factors that can affect Human-AI trust in the context of decision making and, based on the comparison between the findings of academia and industry, I highlight research opportunities and design implications for academic researchers and AI practitioners. This thesis provides theoretical and empirical evidence on Human-AI trust in the context of decision making and opens the ways to support trust in Human-AI interaction

In a particular context of an industrial chemical pollution, the territorial actors become aware of the need to cooperate together for a sustainable development of their region. As a first step, we identify the stakeholders of the TCG Gabès in relation to the process of environmental communication to locate, in a second step, if there is (how or why) a dynamic of territorial intelligence between them. Two methodological steps are used in this study: an analysis of thematic content that focuses on a sample of nearly twenty players where six of these players are ecological associations; and a guide for interviews that embodies the three ethical principles of a territorial intelligence, participation, global/balanced approach, and partnership. The results obtained in this study show the existence of some practices of territorial intelligence. Our recommendation is for a better involvement of the public as well as the private actors and associations based on a participatory approach, or more specifically based on the use of digital technologies

Knowledge based systems, neural networks, case based reasoning, genetic algorithms and fuzzy logic have been successfully employed in manufacturing. This thesis will provide the reader with an introduction and an understanding of each of these techniques (Chapter 2 & 3). The intelligent manufacturing process can be a complex one and can be decomposed into several components: intelligent design, intelligent process planning, intelligent quality management, intelligent maintenance and diagnosis, intelligent scheduling and intelligent control. This thesis will focus on how each of the artificial intelligence techniques can be applied to each of the manufacturing process fields. Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Knowledge based systems Neural networks Fuzzy logic Case based reasoning Genetic algorithms Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Manufacturing intelligence can be approached from two main directions: theoretical research and practical application. Most of the concepts, methods and techniques discussed in this thesis are approached from a theoretical research point of view. This thesis is also aimed at providing the reader with a broader picture of manufacturing intelligence and how to apply the intelligent techniques, in theory. Specific attention will be given to intelligent scheduling as an application (Chapter 11). The application will demonstrate how case based reasoning can be applied in intelligent scheduling within a small manufacturing plant.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research project explores the perceptions of Quebec communicators regarding the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in their organization and its integration into their professional practices. It is part of the wake of some studies carried out on perceptions of AI in Quebec (Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations [CIRANO], 2018) and around the world (Brock and Wangenheim, 2019; Ransbotham and al., 2017; Sun and Medaglia, 2018). The study relies on a quantitative approach that proceeds from an online survey method whose questions were designed from a mapping of determining factors of adoption of AI. Results are interpreted based on Lewin's three-stage change management theory (1947), which allows to situate and explain the position of the actors in relation to a technological change according to a maturity scale. The results obtained show that Quebec organizations are in the middle of the scale of change, meeting 16 of the 32 required indicators. Overall, the players in the communications industry admit the importance of adopting AI in their field, are well aware of the issues and determining factors, but are struggling to see how to integrate it into their practices. In other words, they know "what to do" but they don't know "how to do it". In response to this problem, this research proposes a method of sequential adoption of AI in communication that allows an organization to situate itself on the change maturity scale and to identify the actions to be taken to move to the next level.

This case study on HordaGruppen is focused on how HordaGruppen from the plastic industry can develop with some ideas from the vision Industry 4.0 in order to ensure the quality of the product. Most of the technology needed for Industry 4.0 is available today and there is no reason not to start using it. The study will introduce to Industry 4.0 and the basic ideas that the vision stands for and then try to define and solve some problems within one machine in one of their plants. The results presented in this study shows that using sensors and other technology available today you can take the first steps towards Industry 4.0.

Some strategies have been implemented in order to strengthen these kind of industries. However, it is the development of local pools of industries, also called clusters or grouping that has gained a special attention in Brazil, as one of the main strategies for the strengthening and growth of such a companies. The justification for using these instruments in safety applications is not fully proven and the dependability evaluation of such systems is a difficult task. Achieved work in this thesis deals with modelling and thus the performance evaluation relating to the dependability for structures which have intelligence in the instruments constituting the Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). In the modelling of the system, the functional and dysfunctional aspects coexist and the dynamic approach using the Stochastic Activity Network (SAN) is proposed to overcome the difficulties mentioned above. The introduction of performance indicators highlight the effect of the integration of intelligence levels in safety applications. Monte-Carlo method is used to assess the dependability parameters in compliance with safety standards related to SIS (IEC 61508 & IEC 61511). We have proposed a method and associated tools to approach this evaluation by simulation and thus provide assistance in designing Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) integrating some features of intelligent tools

The research first uses literature analysis to sort out the literature, and focuses on the use of “core literature extension method” to enumerate the development direction and application status of different fields, which devotes to showing a leading role for theory and practice of industry 4.0. The research then explores the main trend of multi-tier supply in Industry 4.0 by combining machine learning and traditional methods. Next, the research investigates the relationship of industry 4.0 investment and employment to look into the inter-regional dependence of industry 4.0 so as to present a reasonable clustering based on different criteria and make suggestions and analysis of the global supply chain for enterprises and organizations. Furthermore, our analysis system takes a glance at the macroeconomy. The combination of natural language processing in machine learning to classify research topics and traditional literature review to investigate the multi-tier supply chain significantly improves the study's objectivity and lays a solid foundation for further research. Using complex networks and econometrics to analyze the global supply chain and macroeconomic issues enriches the research methodology at the macro and policy level. This research provides analysis and references to researchers, decision-makers, and companies for their strategic decision-making

We will focus ourselves particularly on the palm oil, since Indonesia is currently the first world producer. The examination of the various orientations of production of the biodiesel will be made by using the traditional information sources: commercial databases like Chemical Abstracts and ISI or of the free databases and mainly the databases patents. Thorough bibliometrics analyzes we will allow to establish the principal lines of the methods of production, as well as the industrial actors in this field. We will work then starting from certain a number of methods which will allow us among to select the various processes ready to be used. Indeed according to the sources of basic commodity, the chemical processes of treatment can vary and thus the total economy of the process. We will treat then the case of North Sulawesi. We thus examined how the production of biodiesel starting from accessible sources in Sulawesi could contribute to a local energy production. Within this framework palm oils, of coconut, and Jatropha were considered like energy source. We determined that it would be the best possible production, by privileging the production either in "batch" or in small units delocalized to avoid to transport the raw materials, the highway network being difficult and the railway network not existing. This study a been supplemented by an economic study where the costs of the various systems of production were analyzed (biodiesel, geothermal, photovoltaic, water power, wind energy) according to the possible productions then compared with the energy current deficit of the province and then with the extrapolation of the needs in energy taking into account the growth of the population. De flesta gripklor i dagens industri måste vara specialgjorda och anpassas för varje applikation av ingenjörer och därmed behövs otaliga mantimmar för att få önskat beteende och repeterbarhet. Att kunna anpassa vissa av den mänskliga handens egenskaper till en robust industriell robotgripklo skulle utöka dess användarområde och lätta upp anpassningen för ingenjörer när den väl är installerad. Detta examensarbete diskuterar hur en robust intelligent gripklo har blivit utvecklat for industriellt bruk baserad på piezo sensorer som har förmågan att känna av glidning och initiell kontakt av objekt. Först, en experimentiell fungerande sensorprototyp utvecklades med hjälp av en förstärkningskrets och algoritmer implementerade i LabView. Därefter utvecklades en slutlig prototyp innehållandes ett signalkort, ett FPGA-kort, en enkel gripklo med linjärenheter och mer robusta sensorer. Examensarbetet tar vidare upp vilka delar som framgångsrikt blivit implementerade och vilka delar som behöver utvecklas ytterligare, testas och förbättras.

Sillä on potentiaalia luoda talouskasvua muun muassa työn automatisoinnin ja ihmisten suorituskyvyn tehostamisen kautta. Sen käyttöönotolla voidaan myös optimoida päätöksentekoa ja luoda tilaus-toimitusketjuja, joissa useiden tahojen välinen ajantasainen tiedon kulku mahdollistaa järjestelmien täyden läpinäkyvyyden ja optimoinnin, jota ei kyettäisi saavuttamaan pelkästään tämänhetkisiä vakiintuneita menetelmiä käyttämällä. Vaikka olemme vielä kaukana pisteestä, jossa tekoäly voisi korvata ihmiset kokonaan laajassa mittakaavassa, sitä voidaan kuitenkin hyödyntää tiettyjen työtehtävien automatisoimiseen — nämä voidaan tunnistaa oikeanlaisen kategorisoinnin kautta. Työn automatisointipotentiaalin määrittämisen lisäksi käydään läpi, miten tekoälyä voidaan soveltaa fyysisen ja digitaalisen maailman välisen silmukan luomiseen. Käytännössä tällä tarkoitetaan sellaisten optimoitujen järjestelmien luomista, missä jatkuva tiedon kulku ja algoritminen päätöksenteko mahdollistavat täysin uudentasoisen operatiivisen tehokkuuden saavuttamisen. Sen jälkeen, kun näitä optimoituja yksiköitä on luotu ympäri tilaus-toimitusketjua, ne voidaan yhdistää yhdeksi digitaaliseksi verkoksi, jossa perinteinen lineaarisesti etenevä tilaus-toimitusketju hajotetaan siten, että sen kaikki pisteet ovat yhteydessä toisiinsa. Reaaliaikainen tiedon kulku yhteyspisteiden välillä mahdollistaa koko järjestelmän optimoimisen samalla, kun suuri osa päätöksenteosta automatisoidaan tekoälyn avulla. Tämä kirjallisuuskatsaus on jaettu kahteen pääkappaleeseen, joista ensimmäisessä käsitellään tekoälyn teknisen kehityksen nykytilannetta käymällä läpi olennaisia tekoälyyn pohjautuvia ratkaisuja ja vertaamalla niitä valikoituihin inhimillisiin kyvykkyyksiin. Toisessa osassa kerrotaan, kuinka tekoäly voidaan yhdistää työtä tekevien ihmisten kanssa monenlaisten tehtävien automatisoimiseen. Tässä kappaleessa käsitellään myös tekoälyn potentiaalia järjestelmien optimoinnin ja tilaus-toimitusketjun kehittämisen työkaluna. Näiden kahden pääkappaleen jälkeen käydään läpi haasteita, joita tulemme kohtaamaan tekoälyyn pohjautuvien ratkaisujen luomisen ja niihin investoimisen aikana. They have been tried and tested with great success in various applications in manufacturing. However, very little has been written on the synergy that is created when all three is deployed in one system. It is the aim of this work to survey the attributes of each of these key concepts, to compare them on the grounds of applicability and to study the effects when combined into one system. Final conclusions are made after the hypotheses have been validated with the aid of an experimental model. The first objective of this work is to show how many techniques such as expert systems, fuzzy logic, neural networks and genetic algorithms are used to enable systems to perform intelligently. It is accepted that the competitiveness, growth and profitability of a company in future may depend on the level of its system intelligence. This is so because an intelligent system is able to act appropriately under rapidly changing conditions of customer customisation and demands on quicker throughputs. A further objective of this work is to show how integration adds the element of synergy to a system. This is done by showing several ways of achieving integration by non-technological means like departmental consolidation, plant consolidation, product rationalisation, more flexible working practices, etc. There are as many options for integration by technical means as well, ranging from group technology to process or transfer lines, and from flexible automation such as robots through to hard automation using special-purpose machinery and transfer lines. The third objective is to show how remote monitoring enhances the capabilities of manufacturing systems by synergising with the other two key concepts. With the technology of intelligent manufacturing and integration, larger and more complex manufacturing systems are becoming a reality. However, the danger exists that the shop floor machine tools remain isolated islands of automation. Plant machinery needs to be networked into the enterprise-wide information system. The ability to monitor a variety of process parameters and alert plant staff to changing conditions can greatly reduce downtime. This lack of connectivity therefore represents a huge constraint as far as productivity is concerned. For this reason, there is a great interest to study remote monitoring, analysis and diagnostic systems for application in modem manufacturing. The major contribution of this work is to study the synergy that is created by combining the three key concepts into one system and to validate the findings with the aid of the experimental model. The meaning of validation is to make legally valid; to grant official sanction to; to confirm the validity of something or to declare something as true. To validate is to support or corroborate a theory on a sound or authoritative basis by experiments designed to show a hypothesis as being true. The components of the validation model are a neural network, a simulator, a decision evaluator or critic, and a teacher. The neural network is used to make the decisions. Its inputs are the system parameters and its outputs are a vector of values between 0 and 1, the highest value indicates the decision being made (winner takes all). The simulator executes the decision it obtains from the network and thus changes the state of the system. The evaluator looks at how the system changed due to the decision made by the network and decides whether it was a good or a bad decision. The teacher then adjusts the output of the network accordingly and trains the network with the adjusted outputs. The results of the validation experiments show that intelligence is used to train the model, integration is achieved by combining the elements of the model with the mobile robot and remote monitoring is done by the model to analyse the condition of the system and to react accordingly. The main objective of this work is clearly met in that synergy was shown to be created by the three key concepts.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Aspekte soos Integrasie, Intelligensie en Afstandsmonitering speel 'n deurslaggewende rol in vervaardiging en is al op hulle eie met groot sukses in vele toepassings gebruik. Daar is egter nog nie veel aangeteken oor die sinergie wat ontstaan wanneer hulle tesame in een stelsel gebruik word nie. Dit is die doel van hierdie werk om die kenmerke van elk van hierdie sleutel aspekte na te vors, dit op grond van toepaslikheid met mekaar te vergelyk en die uitwerking te bestudeer wanneer hulle in een stelsel saamgevoeg word. Nadat die hipoteses met behulp van 'n eksperimentele model gevalideer is, word finale gevolgtrekkings gemaak. Die eerste doelwit van hierdie werk is om aan te toon dat verskeie tegnieke soos genetiese algoritmes en neurale netwerke gebruik word om stelsels meer kundig te laat optree. Dit word aanvaar dat die toekomstige mededingendheid en groei van ondernemings mag afhang van die stelsel intelligentheidsvlak. Dit is omdat intelligente stelsels gepas kan optree onder snel-veranderende omstandighede. 'n Verdere doelwit is om aan te toon hoe integrasie sinergie kan toevoeg tot 'n stelsel. Dit word gedoen deur verskeie metodes te bespreek van hoe om integrasie op 'n nie-tegniese vlak te bewerkstellig. Die tegniese metodes van integrasie word ook bespreek en sluit tegnieke soos groeptegnologie, aanpasbare outomatisasie en robotika in. Die derde doelwit is om aan te toon hoe afstandsmonitering as sleutel aspek die ander twee sleutel aspekte kan versterk. Die tegnologië van intelligente vervaardiging en integrasie maak die skepping van groter en meer kompleks vervaardigingstelsels nou moontlik. Die gevaar bestaan egter dat hierdie masjiene slegs eilande van outomatisasie sal bly indien hulle nie met behulp van netwerke in die onderneming se inligtingstelselopgeneem word nie. Die vermoë om prosesveranderinge te monitor kan lei tot verminderde staantyd van masjiene en kan dus produktiwiteit verhoog. Om hierdie redes is die toepassing van afstandsmonitering en -diagnosering belangrik vir toepassing in vervaardiging. Die belangrikste bydrae van hierdie werk is die studie van die sinergie wat ontstaan wanneer die drie sleutel aspekte in een stelsel gekombineer word en om die bevindinge te valideer met behulp van 'n eksperimentele model. Om te valideer beteken om iets geldig te verklaar of om die geldigheid van iets te bevestig. Dit beteken verder om 'n teorie te ondersteun of te staaf op 'n grondige en deskundige basis met behulp van eksperimente. Die validasie model bestaan uit 'n neurale netwerk, 'n simulator, 'n besluitevalueerder of beoordelaar, en 'n onderwyser (terugvoerder). Die neurale netwerk neem die besluite met die stelselparameters as inset en die uitset 'n vektor met waardes tussen 0 en 1. Die simulator voer die besluit uit en verander so die toestand van die stelsel. Die evalueerder bepaal hoe die stelsel verander het as gevolg van die besluit en bepaalook of dit 'n goeie of slegte besluit was. Die onderwyser verstel dan die uitset van die netwerk dienooreenkomstig en lei die netwerk op met die verstelde uitsette. Die resultate van die validasie eksperiment toon aan dat intelligensie gebruik word om die modelop te lei, integrasie behaal word deur die elemente van die model te kombineer met die mobiele robot en afstandsmonitering toegepas word deur die toestand van die stelsel te monitor en te analiseer. Die hoofdoelwit van hierdie werk word dus duidelik behaal deur die beskrywing van die sinergie wat ontstaan deur die kombinasie van die drie sleutel aspekte.

The importance of solving and improving some tasks in this epoch leads to the need to apply some Computational Intelligence (CI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. The objectives and contributions of this thesis are related to the EM in i) industrial systems (with reference to the Industry 4.0) by acting on the control system design and ii) residential systems by giving the user a role active in a flexibility scenario. In the first scenario, the author presents two CI methodologies. The first approach consists of applying a meta-heuristic algorithm to reconfigurable sys- tems in order to find a sub-optimal controller parameter set. The performance of this technique is based on the choice of a suitable function to be optimized. The second methodology is the application of a similarity detection technique as a control system supervisor. This is implemented to overcome the limita- tions of the first methodology. Both of these approaches are tested on a real system. In the second scenario, the author proposes the application of a CI technique aiming to forecast home appliances usage. This information, shared with the energy supplier, is could be very useful to fed flexibility programs. The obtained results show how the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than the classic approaches.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleENGLISH ABSTRACT: Teachers in the post-apartheid South Africa experience multiple, complex and constantly changing requirements within the teaching context, which contributes to high levels of stress. They are often faced with different challenges than those in more developed countries. For example, a lack of sufficient resources is a common occurrence in schools in South Africa. Furthermore, teachers regularly engage in multiple roles (e.g. that of the educator, social worker, nurse, etc.) Hence, some researchers identify teaching as a particularly stressful occupation, and suggest that teachers experience disproportionately high levels of stress, when compared to other occupations. Some reasons provided for the occurrence of this include long working hours, high workloads, lack of discipline and respect from learners, and the new South African curriculum, enforcing learner-centred or cooperative teaching methods. Consequences of teachers experiencing high levels of stress have ultimately resulted in the South African government admitting that they are facing a shortage in skilled teachers. Therefore, promoting the well-being of teachers is crucial. There is a need to invest in teacher well-being, in order to reduce the occurrence and consequences of stress in the workplace. The central role that emotions play in the stress process is increasingly recognised. It is said that an individual will experience stress and strain, if they perceive the situation as negative or stressful. For this reason, emotional intelligence (EI) has led to a new focus on the role of emotions in the workplace. More specifically, EI involves expressing, recognising, understanding and managing emotions. Research has proven that EI serves a buffering role against stress, and those individuals with higher EI experience better overall health.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: In ‘n post-apartheid era kom Suid Afrikaanse onderwysers te staan teen ‘n stel vereistes wat voortdurend verander, asook kompleks en veelvoudig van aard is. Binne die opvoedkunde konteks dra hierdie faktore by tot hoë vlakke van stres. In kontras met ontwikkelde lande, staar Suid Afrikaanse onderwysers verskillende uitdagings in die gesig. Een voorbeeld behels die gebrek aan genoegsame hulpbronne, `n algemene verskynsel in Suid Afrikaanse skole. Voorts vervul onderwysers ook voortdurend verskeie rolle (bv. opvoeder, maatskaplike werker, verpleegster ens.). In vergeleke met ander beroepe, het sommige navorsers al uitgewys dat onderwysers aan buitengewone hoë stresvlakke blootgestel word. Hierdie hoë voorkoms van stres kan toe geskryf word aan lang werksure, hoë werkslading, gebrek aan dissipline en respek van leerders, asook die nuwe Suid-Afrikaanse kurrikulum wat leerder-gefokusde en uitkomsgebaseerde metodes afdwing. Gevolglik het die Suid-Afrikaanse regering onlangs erken dat daar tans ‘n gebrek aan opgeleide onderwysers bestaan. Daar is `n behoefte om in onderwysers se welstand te belê, ten einde die voorkoms en gevolge van stres in die werksplek te verminder. Die sentrale rol wat emosies speel in die stres-proses ontvang toenemend meer erkenning. Daar word aangevoer dat individue stres en spanning sal ondervind, indien hulle die situasie as negatief evalueer. Emosionele intelligensie (EI) het dus gelei tot ‘n nuwe bewustheid van die rol wat emosies in die werksplek speel. EI behels die uitdrukking, erkenning, begrip en bestuur van emosies. Navorsing toon dat EI ‘n buffer teen stres vorm, en diegene met hoër vlakke van EI ervaar beter algehele gesondheid. Tot op hede, is daar egter min navorsing gedoen ten opsigte van die rol wat EI vertolk in die stres-proses soos wat dit spesifiek deur onderwysers ervaar word. Hierdie tesis het die verwantskap tussen EI en beroepsverwante stres, spanning (fisiese- en sielkundige welstand), en die uitkomste van stres (werksatisfaksie, organisatoriese toewyding en werk-familie konflik) ondersoek.

Det är i en tid då den fjärde industriella revolutionen, Industry 4.0, öppnar upp möjligheter för OEM:s att förbättra deras produkter och tjänster med hjälp av skiftet mot ”Asset Performance Management (APM 4.0)”. Denna masters arbete har identifierat olika värden i OEM:s med hjälp av ramverket Value Mapping Tool för att stödja företag att ta vara på dessa möjligheter. Värdena blev uppdelade i följande delvärden; Värde Fångat, Värde Missat och Värde Möjligheter. OEM:s måste anpassa deras nuvarande affärsmodell med hjälp av affärsmodellsinnovation för att kunna förbättra identifieringen av värden ännu mer och för att förbli konkurrenskraftig eller tjäna konkurrensfördelar. Litteraturen angående det rådande läget av fordonsindustrin och skiftet mot APM 4.0 har kombinerats med resultatet från de sex semistrukturerade intervjuerna. Resultatet är baserade på intervjuer med anställda inom olika positioner från varierande fordonsföretag i Sverige. Vidare, har resultatet och litteraturen jämförts med tre riktmärknings studier av liknande forskning i Tyskland, Kina och USA för att kunna få en överblick av problemet. De missade värdena karaktäriseras av Komplexitet, Oklarhet och Kunskap. Vidare, visar de fångade värden att nya affärsmodeller krävs på grund av den snabbt ändrade marknaden i samband med den nya teknologin som kommer, men företag saknar kunskap av att veta hur de ska fånga denna värde. Komplexitet berör de nya komplexa teknologierna som kommer samt den höga nivå av osäkerhet som uppstår i samband med introduktionen av APM 4.0. Oklarhet syftar på de problem som fordonsföretag har med att hitta information eftersom de inte vet vad de ska förvänta sig. Kunskap hänvisar till kunskap erhållen under implementeringsprocessen av APM 4.0 för att identifiera värdefull outforskad data. Likväl, hittade studien också potentiella värde möjligheter trots bristen på kunskap och den höga nivån av osäkerhet. Det finns oupptäckta affärsmodeller som kan förbättra tillverkningsprocesserna för fordonsföretag. Riktmärkning projekten har visat positiva tecken men har fortfarande inte uppnått sin fulla potential på grund av det låga antalet tester. Studien drar slutsatsen att det finns många tydliga hinder för en lyckad implementering av APM 4.0 inom den svenska fordonsindustrin. För att dessa fordonsföretag ska optimera implementeringen måste de fånga värde som är relevant till deras affärsmodeller.
