Chemotherapy is a treatment for patients with breast cancer. When the chemotherapy is undergoing, patients often feel uncomfortable due to pain and psychological disorders post chemotherapy. Family and environmental support can be a contributing factor to the life quality of breast cancer patients. This study aims to investigate the family support relationship to the compliance of breast cancer patients in conducting chemotherapy programs. This study was conducted using cross sectional approach. This Study observed the family support relationship in the event of instrumental, informational, emotional, and self-esteem against the compliance of chemotherapy program for breast cancer patient. Using sampling technique purposive sampling, the number of patients with 83 respondents. Retrieving sample data based on the primary data source of the patient’s family support questionnaire and patient compliance questionnaires in undergoing chemotherapy programs. The results showed 41 respondents (49.4%) quite obedience in chemotherapy programs has enough family support. The number of 2 respondents (2.4%) which disobedient has less family support. Statistical results showed a significant correlation between family support and the compliance of chemotherapy programs with P = 0.024 and r = 0.248 meaning there was a fairly positive correlation. It can thus be concluded that the family support in the instrumentals, informational, emotional, and self-esteem affects the compliance of chemotherapy programs for breast cancer.

Nationwide, the percentage of four-year-olds enrolled in state-supported preschool programs has more than doubled since the early 2000s as states dramatically increased their investments in early childhood education. Florida's Voluntary Pre-kindergarten Program (VPK), which began in 2005, has been a national leader with respect to preschool access. This paper provides the first evidence of the program's impacts. We measure the effect of VPK participation on the likelihood that children are retained at any point between kindergarten and third grade. Using an instrumental variables approach, we leverage local program expansion and detailed student-level data on eight cohorts of children, four of which were of preschool age in the years before VPK was implemented and four of which had access to VPK programs. The results indicate that VPK did not lead to changes in the likelihood that children complete the third grade without ever being retained. We do find, however, that VPK led to a change in the timing of retention. Specifically, the program led to a drop in the likelihood that children were retained during the kindergarten year, but this drop was counteracted by increases in retention in subsequent school years. Implications for policy are discussed.

Collective music making has been associated with the emergence of prosocial behaviors in children and adults. Yet, the associations between participation in early childhood music education programs and prosocial skills in young children remain elusive. The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine how children with varied amounts of music participation—in a formal program and in the home—performed in two prosocial tasks (i.e., instrumental helping and sharing) and how their parents rated their prosocial tendencies and interests for music. Thirty-six children (ages between 3 and 4 years) with varied amounts of participation in an early childhood music program completed prosocial tasks of instrumental helping and sharing. Results indicated that there were no significant age or sex differences in children’s prosocial responses. Instrumental sharing was positively correlated with time spent in the music program. Sharing scores, in turn, correlated with children’s active musical participation and parental prosocial ratings. These findings are discussed in light of theories of musical and prosocial development in childhood.

This article illustrates how the logic model and a course on program evaluation at a large health sciences centre were instrumental in preparing staff to evaluate their own programs. Staff and physicians need basic skills in program evaluation. The logic model is a simple yet useful tool in helping to identify key measurables. A short course to teach the theory and practice of logic models, evaluation design, choice and design of measures, and data analysis has been shown to be a practical solution in preparing staff and physicians to evaluate their own programs.

Annotation:
Fruit texture is a major target of apple (Malus domestica) breeding programs due to its influence on consumer preference. This multitrait feature is typically rated using sensory assessment, which is subjective and prone to biases. Instrumental measurements have predominantly targeted firmness of the outer region of fruit cortex using industry standard Magness–Taylor-type penetrometers, while other metrics remain largely unused. Additionally, there have been limited reports on correlating sensory attributes with instrumental metrics on many diverse apple selections. This report is the first to correlate multiyear historical fruit texture information of instrumental metrics and sensory assessment in an apple breeding program. Through 11 years of routine fruit quality evaluation at the Washington State University apple breeding program, physical textural data of 84,552 fruit acquired from computerized penetrometers were correlated with sensory assessment. Correlations among various instrumental metrics are high (0.63 ≤ r ≤ 1.00; P < 0.0001). In correlating instrumental outputs with sensory data, there is a significant correlation (r = 0.43; P < 0.0001) between the instrumental crispness value and sensory crispness. Additionally, instrumental hardness traits are significantly correlated (0.61 ≤ r ≤ 0.69; P < 0.0001) with sensory hardness. Outputs from two versions of computerized penetrometers were tested and shown to have no statistical differences. Overall, this report demonstrates potential use of instrumental metrics as firmness and crispness estimates for selecting apples of diverse backgrounds in a breeding program. However, in testing a large number and diversity of fruit, experimenters should perform data curation and account for lower limits/thresholds of the instrument.

The current study examined student athletes’ motives for viewing sports programs on television and their relationships with various viewing behaviors. Employing uses and gratifications theory and social differentiation theory, the study investigated whether student athletes’ motives for sports-program viewing would predict their preference of program selection and amount of viewing. An on-site survey of 225 Division I athletes from 3 Midwestern universities found that student athletes had entertainment, social-facilitation, and integration motives for sports-program viewing. Ritual use of sports programs (entertainment) was their primary motive, followed by instrumental use (social facilitation and integration). Results showed that student athletes’ main goal of watching sports programs on television was escape from their daily problems. Additional results showed that there was no gender difference in student athletes’ motives and sports-program preferences. Both male and female student athletes preferred male sports such as football and men’s college basketball.

The focus of this master's thesis is on the topic of instrumentation during the compilation process in the LLVM compiler. The tool enables to instrument memory accesses and functions. The instrumentation is realized through adding a novel pass to the LLVM's optimalization phase. Information about variables are managed by the created framework. The framework is linked with the program. The overhead of the instrumentation increases duration of the program by about 14 % in the case of switched off indirect addressing and 23 % in the case of switched on indirect addressing. The main benefit of the work is the possibility of easy instrumentation of the program which can even monitor operation of local variables through indirect addressing) and support multithread programs. The framework is part of Testos's tools where it provides automatic instrumentation in the Spectra tool.

Contracts for concurrency describe required atomicity of method sequences in concurrent programs. This work proposes a dynamic analyzer to verify programs written in Java against contracts for concurrency. The analyzer was designed to detect violations of parametric contracts with spoilers. The proposed analyzer was implemented as an extension to the RoadRunner framework. Support for accessing the method arguments and return values was added to RoadRunner as a part of the solution. The analyzer was fully implemented and verified on a set of testing programs.

Positive adaptations experienced in spite of challenges faced is known as resilience. Comparatively little research has focused on in-depth descriptions regarding how resilience is manifested in children. The purpose of this study was to add to previous research in the identification of characteristics of resilience in students, and to determine the extent to which band membership has aided their resilience in other domains. Data was collected from a random sample of band seniors from the class of 2011 (n = 3) who attended a large high school in the South. Specific research questions were: (1) What characteristics of resilience are present in the talk of participants in a high school instrumental music program? (2) To what extent has this population perceived that membership in band aided their resilience in other domains? A descriptive study design was chosen that used qualitative data. Following data analysis that included category matrices, prominent themes emerged from the participants’ responses. These included self-improvement, forward thinking, optimism, inner drive, increased achievement, determination, development of relationships to peers and adult mentors, and development of connectedness to the school. The findings of this study complemented previous research on characteristics of resilient students, and suggested that the participants derived positive benefits from group membership and from positively contributing to the school. Recommendations based on these findings for researchers included the need for resilience to be studied across other subject areas in school, and across different populations of students. Recommendations for teachers and administrators included varied opportunities for extra-curricular and co-curricular student engagement.

Music education is an important element in the development of the whole child. The school is a place where children learn about and are directly influenced by things that make a lasting impression on their development. What better place for music to be taught? Music is a course of study that can have a direct influence on a child's lifetime tastes and values for the arts.
This study investigates the effects of an Alternative Instrumental Music Program on grade three children, at an elementary school situated on the West Island of Montreal, Quebec. One of the two classes involved in the Study (Experimental Group) participated in an alternative instrumental music program and its applications; the other class (Control Group) followed a traditional music program. Each class consisted of twenty-eight students. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected from both groups of students, homeroom teachers, and parents over a period of ten consecutive weeks.
The findings revealed that the children in the Experimental Group enjoyed learning music in school more than those in the Control Group. The Experimental Group also indicated a greater increase in the enjoyment of activities experienced during music class than those in the Control Group. Moreover, there was a higher increase of musical knowledge in the Experimental Group.
The author suggests that further research on the effects of alternative music programs on elementary school children would be beneficial to the educational community.

The Instrumental Enrichment Program (IEP) is a psycho-educative program that seeks, through appropriate instruments, to stimulate cognitive functions so the student optimizes her/his thinking and makes it more reflective. The objective of this research was to conduct an assessment of the Instrumental Enrichment Program influence on some cognitive functions of the elderly, such as: problem solving, memory, attention and concentration. Sixty-six volunteers from both sexes participated, aged 60 years or older, physically independent and healthy, schooled until the 4th grade of elementary school (currently 5th year) at minimum and until the 8th grade of secondary school (currently 9th year) at maximum, without restrictions on the socioeconomic level, subdivided into two groups: experimental and control. The subjects from both groups were assessed before the intervention program (pre-test phase) and its ending (post-test phase) through the following tests: Wisconsin Card Sorting Test version for the elderly, memory subscale of Addenbrookes Cognitive Examination, Word List Memory Test, Pseudowords Repetition Test, attention and guidance subscale of Addenbrooke\'s Cognitive Examination, and Trails Test parts A and B. In order to reject the hypothesis that improvement in the experimental group performance, that received cognitive intervention, could be due to the learning of tests during the first phase in which they have been applied, other tests for evaluation of the same investigated functions were performed in post-test and retest phases, the latter performed after three months of the intervention program completion. The tests used for this purpose were: Wechslers Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence cubes subtest, digit extension tests in direct and in reverse order from Wechslers Adult Intelligence Memory Scale, and Psychological Battery for Attention Assessment. The self-esteem scale was applied in the pre, post and retest phases only for the experimental group. The Instrumental Enrichment Program classes were given to the experimental group by the researcher for five and a half months, once a week, lasting 90 minutes each, totaling 21 classes. Evaluation of the results showed that the Instrumental Enrichment Program has led to a higher performance by the experimental group compared to the control group in all cognitive functions analyzed, which either remained or showed improvement in performance even after three months of program completion. The discussion of results sought to identify and relate the IEP instruments with the assessed cognitive functions

There is consensus in health studies that regular physical activities of sufficient intensity and duration contribute to better health both in the short and long term. In an ongoing research program, we focus on getting the young elderly, the 60-75 years age group, to adopt and include physical activities as part of their daily routines. One reason for addressing young elderly is large numbers – in Finland health care costs for the elderly was 3.7 B€ in 2019 and will increase dramatically if the young elderly group is in bad shape when they reach the 75+ age group. We are finding out that systematic physical activities can serve as preventive health care for the young elderly. We are also learning that digital services can be instrumental for building sustainable physical activity programs.

The development of non-destructive methods to inspect nuclear-waste containers is important for radioactive-waste management and non-proliferation purposes. This paper will present studies and results carried out by a method based on photon interrogation (photofission) which allows the determination of the actinide quantity contained in the waste. High-energy photons (produced by an electron accelerator associated with a Bremsstrahlung tungsten target) will induce photofission reactions on the actinides. Then the flux of delayed neutrons, which is directly proportional to the amount of actinides, is measured with 3He detectors. Since the beginning of 1990’s, our team in CEA has been working on the development of this method and the improvement of the existing simulation code. The two main tools will be introduced: OPERA (tool for the simulation of photonuclear reactions) which includes photonuclear cross sections in a Monte-Carlo code based on MCNP4C, and SAPHIR (Irradiation and Photon-Activation System), a device allowing experimentations for research and development programs. The applications of these tools will be illustrated mainly with two examples: 1) The feasibility study of an inspection device for old concrete containers will be reported. Two campaigns of measurements have been performed in order to determine the sensitivity and the detection limits in the case of four different types of concrete containers, in terms of nature and geometry. 2) Nuclear-waste producers and managers have been interested by the active photon interrogation possibilities to measure actinide quantity in wastes of high activity, vitrified or compacted, with constraints like a dose rate around 400 Gy/h at 27 cm from the container. The simulation-code improvement has allowed some calculations, based on the SAPHIR facility, which have shown a good linearity between the actinide mass and the number of detected neutrons, in spite of a very high passive noise and the presence of a lead protection. Several R&D programs will be also presented. On one hand, measurements are performed on real wastes, chosen for parameter which could define a limitation of the measurements, in order to improve the method and to evaluate the detection limits. For instance, tomography can be performed with this experimental device: quantity and position of actinides in the waste can be calculated. On the other hand, a new method is studied, using the delayed-gamma flux in order to quantify and to identify the different actinide isotopes contained in the waste. These methods and device offer a large panel of results in terms of measurements and simulations. Our team is now involved in several prospecting and R&D programs in order to improve the current method and to find some new applications for nuclear-waste management.

The development and implementation of risk-informed inservice inspection (ISI) approaches, providing an alternative to ASME Section XI Code requirements for the selection of examination locations in nuclear power plant piping systems, has been recently identified by industry leaders as the most successful voluntary application of risk technology in the United States. This technology improves the effectiveness of examination of piping components, i.e. concentrates inspection resources and enhances inspection strategies on high-safety-significant locations, and reduces inspection requirements on others while maintaining or enhancing overall plant safety (in terms of core damage and large, early release frequency). Risk-informed ISI has been successfully implemented in more than 90% of U.S. reactors and in nuclear power plant ISI programs in at least eight other countries. Beginning almost 20 years ago, Dr. Spencer H. Bush played an instrumental role in the development of this technology as a Steering Committee member of the ASME Research Project on Risk-Based Inspection Guidelines. He later became a member of the ASME Section XI Working Group on Implementation of Risk-Based Examination participating in the development and review of ASME Code Cases allowing for trial use of this new technology. Dr. Bush, having a long leadership role with ASME Section XI, played an instrumental role in the development of an overall structure and process for integrating the technologies inherent to a risk-informed ISI program, including piping failure data and non-destructive examination reliability results. He also played a key role in garnering ASME and regulatory acceptance of this alternative approach. The authors, along with many other colleagues, had the honor and privilege of working closely with Dr. Bush on this initiative over the last two decades, and via this paper, the authors would like to highlight some of Dr. Bush’s key contributions to this successful development in his memory.

While managers and supervisors may be hired for certain variety of skills sets, abilities, and knowledge, not all of these workers may be educated or trained to be workplace coaches or mentors may or may not have the tolerance and patience for such a role. However, Human Resource Management professionals in the workplace need to realize that there may be a need for coaching training and skills enhancement workshops to prepare today’s workforce managers. The key for success in this area is to conduct a need assessment for the workers and managerial staff to determine what is needed from today’s workplace coaches in terms of needed skills sets and strategies to be utilized by them to help enhance, motivate, monitor, and evaluate the human capital working for today’s organization. Next, the development and design of a coaching program can be instrumental in moving today’s managerial workforce from general coaches to more specialized coaches to help develop and today’s workforce, as well as help strengthen their own skills sets and knowledge in order to help obtain better results of organizational goals, as well as develop stronger working relationships and bonding with the workers. Equally important, today’s workers need to exert an equal amount of effort and participation in a coaching environment in order to gain better outcomes in terms of performance and efficiency. This presentation will focus on the creation of better coaching programs and evaluation of coaching relationships and outcomes.

Background: Social support is an interpersonal relationship where the social environment provides assistance in the form of emotional attention, instrumental assistance, providing information, appreciation or assessment to individual sufferers. Lack of social support will lead to a decline in physical and mental conditions, so that it can cause a person to be lazy to carry out routine daily self-care activities, as a result people with HIV/AIDS do not adhere to treatment programs. If people with HIV/AIDS do not regularly take anti-retroviral (ARV) for a long time, it will greatly affect the quality of life of people with HIV/AIDS. This study aims to examine the effect of social support on quality of life in people with HIV/AIDS. Subject and Method: Meta analysis was conducted based on PRISMA guidelines on article with randomized controlled trial design which published in 2000-2020. The meta-analysis was carried out by systematically reviewing articles from Google Scholar, PubMed, and Springer Link. The articles used in this research are articles that have been published from 2010-2020. The family firms (FFs) play an instrumental role in the economic spectrum of the Russian economy with respect to their contribution to income, output, and employment, ceteris paribus. The FFs not only contribute the domestic business activities but also make a significant contribution to international business. Ever since the launch of the mass privatization program (MPP) in Russia during 1992–1994 numerous disruptions on the business and economic landscape of Russia have emerged, and as a result, the FFs in Russia have been experiencing several new opportunities and challenges in the international market. However, it is noticeable that corporate regulatory, and corporate governance systems do not even clearly define the FFs. The current study explores the following research objectives: first, the motivation of internationalization of family enterprises in Russia, second, their process of internationalization, and third, the problems and challenges faced by the family enterprises
