The present research constitutes an analysis concerning how William Shakespeare’s (1564-1616) dramatic text The Tempest (1611) was updated and resignified in Marina Warner’s (1946- ) novel Indigo, or mapping the waters (1992). From the perspective of the Translation Studies and the concept of Intertextuality, we argue for the hypothesis that the contemporary novel constitutes a translation of the classic dramatic text, taking, as a starting point, a comparative investigation about some intertextual connections involving elements these texts have in common. Based on Jacques Derrida’s deconstructivist philosophy, as well as on Gérard Genette’s and Linda Hutcheon’s theories about transtextuality and adapatation, respectively, we propose some reflections about the possibility of a new mode of translation, based on the idea that the translation process involves reading and interpreting operations that release and authorize the translator to develop new creative practices, placed beyond what is traditionally considered to be a work of translation.

Abstract: The inflammation is an immune system response to pathogens, chemical or physical traumas; this evolution may result in damage, or become chronic. It is a complex phenomenon, which involves several mediators, such as NF-?B that promotes the release of cytokines and pro-inflammatory enzymes followed by leukocyte infiltration; resulting in five cardinal signs: heat, redness, tumour, pain and loss of function. The application of secondary metabolites of plants is an alternative for treatment of pain and inflammation. Among the metabolites, the alkaloids receive special emphasis such as morphine, a potent analgesic. In this work, the anti-inflammatory and analgesic potential of indigo alkaloid (1.5, 3.0 e 6.0 mg/kg), obtained from Indigofera truxillensis (Leguminosae) was observed in edema models (xylene and arachidonic acid ear edema and carrageenan hind paw) and cellular infiltration (granuloma cotton pellet e pleurisy). In these models, indigo presented significant reduction of edema and cellular infiltration, mainly polimorphonuclears. ELISA analyses revealed that alkaloid decreased the levels of MPO, nitrite and nitrate, PGE2 and TNF-?, as well as the expression of COX-2 by western blot and immunohistochemistry. The reduction of mediators suggests that indigo could have anti-inflammatory an action that involves NF-?B, this activity was seen again by western blot. Randall & Selitto, abdominal writhing and formalin models of inflammatory pain were also performed and the alkaloid, over again, showed significant statistic response, probably by the reduction of inflammatory mediators. Indigo was also evaluated in neurogenic models of pain and demonstrated an increase of the latency in thermal stimuli (tail flick and hot plate tests) and capsaicin tests implicated with TRPV1 activity, however, the alkaloid did not show any interaction with opioid receptors in the formalin test with naloxone reversal. These results suggest that indigo has an anti-inflammatory action that may be involved with COX-2 and NF-?B, the reduction of these mediators contributed to the analgesic action in inflammatory pain and also to the reduction in peripheral pain

m MF followed by 100 kDa UF providing high permeation rate and high color retention. These two pretreatment alternatives were compared based on the performance of nanofiltration (NF) using NF 270 membrane, and the best pretreatment process was evaluated as 5 µ
m MF that provided 87-92% color and 10% chemical oxygen demand (COD) retention. After the pretreatment tests, three different NF (NF 270, NF 90, Dow Filmtec, USA and NF 99, Alfa Laval, Denmark) and two different reverse osmosis (RO) membranes (HR 98 PP and CA 995 PE, Alfa Laval, Denmark) were tested to produce reusable water. Permeate COD and color performances of the tested NF and RO membranes were similar and satisfactory in meeting the relevant reuse criteria, while permeate conductivity was satisfactory only for HR 98 PP RO membrane and for NF 90 membrane. On the other hand, NF 270 membrane was superior to the other membranes in terms of permeation rate. For NF 270 membrane
cumulative color, COD and conductivity retentions were found to be 93 %, 92 %, and 60 %, respectively. When the developed process chain (5µ
m MF+ NF 270) was also tested for a dilute indigo dyeing wastewater, it was found out that the developed scheme works similarly and is generic for indigo dyeing wastewaters.

All pretreatment alternatives were optimized to reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD) and color load to NF. Coagulation process was investigated using the coagulants, aluminum sulfate (Al2(SO4)3.18H2O) and ferric chloride (FeCl3.6H2O) by running a series of jar tests. The results showed that coagulation process did not provide an effective and efficient pretreatment due to high dose of coagulant requirement. MF tests run by using 0.45, 2.5 and, 8 µ
m membranes indicated that MF through 0.45 µ
m pore-sized membrane is the best process providing 64% color and 29% COD removals, leading to a color value of 2493 Pt-Co and COD of 892 mg /L in the permeate. Application of sequential MF+UF filtration provided a significant benefit over single MF in terms of rejections and also permeate flux. UF applied after MF provided additional 62% color and 4% COD removals leading to 960 Pt-Co color and 856 mg/L COD. NF tests conducted using pretreated wastewater via single MF and sequential MF+UF indicated that single MF is the best pretreatment to NF and this treatment scheme provided 99% color, 97% COD and 80 % conductivity removals and satisfied reuse criteria.

The indigo is a blue dye from vegetal origin with records of its use that turns back in to the first civilizations. It’s tradition as a dye plant comes from the great quality of dyeing it offers for both animal and vegetal fibers. Besides that, the indigo plant leafs has the peculiarity of providing also the color blue as insoluble pigment, and so, it increases its using possibilities. The present research has as a go, to explore possible applications of the natural indigo pigment in artistic materials as way of extending the range of available products with this raw material. Experiments have been conducted in order to test behavior, resistance towards light, and the pigment applicability over four different dyeing techniques. The performance of the developed materials were enough to support the use of the natural version of the indigo pigment as an alternative to the synthetic, presenting yet the advantage of being less toxic and pollutant. Its expected that the increase of application variety of the natural indigo will stimulate, by consequence, the interest for the development of new products, and also, for its story, favoring the rescue of the traditional knowledge and practices of the indigo plant cultivation in Brazilian localities with a history cultivation in the past.

This research on the Phenomenon Indigo is intended to be a warning to Parents and a contribution to the Psychopedagogy of Creativity in the Parent’s School domain. The Parent’s acceptability to the Phenomenon Indigo and the children’s behavior, was faceted on the General Acceptance, in knowledge, Consciousness and on the Sensibility, transversalized by the Dimensions Indigo Phenomenon, interrelationship and attitudes of Parents with their Indigo children, and the Indigo child's behavior. Simon (2010), Carroll and Tober (2008), Virtue (2006) affirm the importance of the awareness to guide parents for their own’s Indigo child phenomenon, emerging new behaviors, requiring an highest psychoeducational level. For this purpose it was used an intervention research with a quasi-experimental design, assuming as potential tool in the psychoeducational working area. The effectiveness of a Plan of Creative Actions was tested proposed by the PhD’student in 3 sequential modules in view of the increasing Acceptability (AC) of Parents, in a group of 11 participants ─ aged 21 to 65, and with children aged from 2 to 12 years old, having as instruments some Questionnaires with closed questions in Likert scale. The Acceptability was observed from Before (T1) to After (T2) the intervention, considering the variables Gender of the Children and the educational level of Parents. Significant differences for Acceptability in both facets and dimensions were detected. The Creative Action Plan has proven to be an effective intervention vehicle, as a facilitator for increased acceptability of parents, and desmytification of the Indigo phenomenon in the civil society. On the Gender variable, the Action Plan had effect – from before (T1) to afeter (T2) in the Parentes opinion – in almost Facets and Dimensions for the boys, meanwhile for the girls the Plan have a mitigate effect. For the variable level de educacion of Parents, for the Non-Licenced Parents there was significative differences in many Facets and in one Dimension, meanwhile for the Licence Parents there some significative differences. The results shows that parents are concerned about the performance and the formation of their children Indigo, considerine that the plan had globally effiesly on the Parent’s Acceptability improvement.

Abstract: Inflammatory Bowel diseases (IBD) are known as na exacerbated imune response within the intestinal tract, mainly the mucosa of the colon. The IBD treatment is rather ineffective, including various side effects and high costs. Thus, the research with active compounds may bring therapeutic alternatives for IBD. Since natural products have been a vast source for pharmacology, we decided to investigate the effect of Indigo alkaloid in experimental models of IBD. The oral administration of Indigo (3 mg/Kg) in trinitrobenzenesulphonic acid (TNBS) -induced colitis showed beneficial results in the macroscopic and microscopic lesions, without significant results in the other evaluated parameters (diarrhea and intestine adhesion). We observed a reduction in the sulfhydryl groups (GSH) and in the activity of Glutathione peroxidase (GPx), an increase in the activity of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and Lipid Peroxidation (LPO). The treatment with Indigo (3 mg/Kg) prevented an increase in the LPO levels, and partially, the reduction of GSH levels. Furthermore, Indigo inhibited the increase of Cycloxigenase 2 (COX-2) expression. In the Indigo-treated animals, the expression of the Nuclear Factor kB (NF-kB) and the concentration of interleukin 10 (IL-10) were kept at intermediary levels between the healthy group and the non-treated colitic group (Veículo + TNBS). In the Dextran Sodium Salt (DSS), Indigo showed no effect on the disease associated index (DAI), which includes body weight reduction, consistence and blood in feces. However, the 7-day oral treatment with Indigo was capable of avoiding the weight/length ratio of the colon, which is usually augmented in the intestinal inflammation. In the histological, we observed a thickening of the intestinal wall, with mucosal and submucosal cell infiltration, necrotic areas as well as epithelium disorganization in the DSS-induced inflammation. The treatment with Indigo showed less severe morphological lesions. In the Dss-induced colitis, IL-6 and IL-1? levels were higher in the negative control group (DSS), which was prevented with the treatment with Indigo. In the azoximethane/DSS-cancer associated recidive model of colitis, the administration of Indigo lowered the death rate, minimized the body weight loss and also prevented the increase in the wejght/length ratio of the colon. The test substance, however, was not capable of of reducing DAI in this model, since it didn't minimize the loss of consistence and neither the blood in feces. Animals treated with saline or Indigo for 9 weeks were used for the analyses of Indigo toxicity through the following parameters: body weight evolution, chaw consumption, organ weight and macroscopic evaluation (heart, kidneys, lung and liver). In this analysis, no signs of toxicity were found for this dose of Indigo. Although it did not enhance all the parameters studied in this model of colitis, we observed that the Indigo-treated animals were, in general, less debilitated than the non-treated ones. Other studies and parameters have to be performed for a better understanding of the alkaloid effects in the intestinal inflammation

Recognizing the importance of New Pedagogical Approaches in Education, this study aims to validate and systematize experiences in Casa Indigo Foundation, taking into account the current contexts of teaching and learning in children, considered special: indigo, gifted, among other, and revealing the difficulties of adapting school, or to the environment, family, peers, although showing normal characteristics and, sometimes even exceptional. That these new approaches seek to present a pedagogical reasoning and humanistic orientation, constructivist and hermeneutic-ethical, to promote the student's curiosity, interest, motivation, creativity, cooperation, raising their autonomy through an interpretive walk and conscious self-knowledge, human values and ethical-spiritual. According to the methodology proposed by Vygotsky (1978) the instruction is good only when the student can continue and progress in their development, when he awakens and sets in motion functions that are in the process of maturation or in the Next Development Zone (NDZ). The (NDZ) provides psychologists and educators a tool through which can be understood the internal development of the child, allowing to outline the immediate future of this dynamic state and development. In the mind of each learner can be explored "learning windows" through which the teacher can act as a guide the process of cognition, until the student be able to take control metacognitive and independent of their own learning. Any investigation begins with the definition, identification or delimitation of the problem. In this case we intend to observe the extent to which learner-centered pedagogies and based on a hermeneutic narrative in Ricoeur may contribute to the development, emotional growth, conscientious, ethical, creative and cognitive development of students by encouraging their autonomy, responsibility and willingness to learn by taking guidance : • Development of teaching strategies and relational constructivist, Vygotsky • Theory of the hermeneutics based on Paul Ricoeur narrative. We will use a mixed methodology, based in gathering information, its further processing, qualitative questionnaires analysis and, based on case studies, in which will be used the hermeneutics narrative method. This method, after been validated, will show that the application of New Pedagogical Research will facilitate learning in special children and attain their full social and family integration.

The presentation of the color as the material has its necessity. We can understand the flow of time, the difference of culture, and the development of transport vehicles through color materials. Currently, the curriculum on color is generally dominated by the western color theory, and not the discourse of traditional color. The curriculum thematically about culture and color, rare as it is, less addresses the teaching from the angle of color materials. Hence, the research attempts to discuss from the angle of color materials. Indigo was the bulk cash crop in the early times of Taiwan, also the primary export products in the 19th-century Taiwan. After the numerous times of indigo activities, the researcher understands the complicated process of production as well as the dyeing techniques of indigo dyeing, and is affected to know that the shape activity of dyeing is a part of life design. To further know the colors of the land, the researcher makes indigo dyeing as the research topic in order to transmit traditional colors and essential contents on the one hand, and to spread the beauty of classical dyeing techniques on the other. The art research begins with the observation of how the indigo grew and was produced, and then embarks on a comprehensive survey on the relevant literature. After the related literature was gathered, the researcher began her experiments. After trial and error, after verification and correction between literature and the research goal, this art research finally made its own style: to use computer graphic and to use the local amplification as well as movement for the adjustment of the graphs. The size of the work adjusts the graphic as vertical, with the dimension of 59.4 x 21 cm, as the size of the work as the elongated shape is concerned. In the practice, the researcher constantly tries to see if the contents of cross pages are proper. Then, the content materials were gathered, the wire-frame drawing and adjustment were made, and the color and the arrangement were done. This art research encompasses 16 cross pages, and is divided into five units: 1) introduction to indigo from history and literature, 2) the making of indigo, 3) the dyeing principles and applications of the indigo, 4) tie-dye techniques, and 5) indigo and belief.

The purpose for this research is to build up the brand design for Sanxia Dyeing Workshop. From the perspective of the Indigo Dyeing culture in Sanxia, we realized that there is a group of native people who devoted themselves to local culture for twenty years. These people set up the organization which developed from the San Jiao Yong Cultural and History Workshop to the San Jiao Yong Cultural Association. Since restoration of the indigo dyeing, the Sanxia Dyeing Workshop had set up to promote and educate the Indigo Dyeing culture. Nowadays, people care more and more about the social issues due to the various social values. Therefore, the concept of Social Enterprise and Social Design emerged which becomes prominent in recent years. This shows the need of solving the issues of public interests and indicates that design is one of the key solutions. Being a Non-Profit Organization, Sanxia Dyeing Workshop is limited to the outreached connection from the marketing perspective. Therefore, there has been no obvious outcome in branding and product promotion. To meet the requirement of Sanxia Dyeing Workshop, get the acknowledgement of the supporters for enough resources and to care for social issues, we assisted Sanxia Dyeing Workshop build up their brand image to also practice the value of social design. In Literature Reviews, this reach focused on the history of the Indigo Dyeing in Sanxia, the branding of non-profit organizations, and the cultural capital. In order to realize the situations of the association deeply and lay a foundation, taking Participant Observation, Market Analysis and In-Depth Reviews in the process of the reach. In addition to knowing the overview of the association and the analyzing the market, we also studied the issue of sustainability for Sanxia Indigo Dyeing. With these, we get three conclusions: (1) Start up learning in the community by Indigo Dyeing. (2) Acquiring knowledge by experience the culture. (3) Concept education and talented building. The first and the third point would require the cultural identity of people; while the second one lies in how the cultural capital transfers. Therefore, besides the Visual Identity of brand, we also conduct infography design and organized the product planning based on the above-mentioned conclusions. Through the information that carried out by the graphics, we tried to affect the cognitive of those who see them so as to cultivate the identification of the brand. On the other hand, the product planning is to offer a direction to the future products in Sanxia Dyeing Workshop, hoping to add value to the Indigo Dyeing products for further benefits.

I used to listen to my inner voice in the past; I often asked myself what is my heart’s desire? What do I need the most? And where is my direction? After having such a long work experience, I have confused value with my life concept and my inner self-esteem is down; I can hardly breathe and am no longer free. Fortunately everything changed after I met the “Indigo dyeing”. This ancient and magical technique helped me find my lost soul; my mind, floating in the air, can now be settled and I can concentrate more on my daily routines. The indigo color is vivid; like a human being, it also needs air, food and water (hydrogen, sugar/wine and alkali). The pretty indigo color can be made by taking good care of it. I have spent a lot of time learning how to be a qualified carer. Dye vats are set one by one and slowly my successful experience accumulated from failures. The process is an integrated behavior. It provides the indigo color with an excellent existent condition and meanwhile its multi-layer color and aroma can be appreciated. If the existent condition is bad, the indigo color will be ugly. Due to lack of knowledge, I have searched for related dyeing techniques and studying advanced technology. An automatic learning motivation has been cultivated as I gradually unveil its mystery. Indigo dyeing is a traditional dyeing technique. It can always be seen in our daily utensils. It has also been developed as artistic creations. I have seen thousands of blue starts several years ago in the Cingjing Veterans Farm and I would love to convey my admiration to everyone. The indigo dyeing gives me an exit. It represents the beauty of stars and integrates with the starlight. The dialogue between a profound touching from my heart and my favorite traditional technique has been started and the work of “Blue Stars” is the spirit of my creation.

Taiwan Indigo industry's most prosperous period of about Jiaqing to Tongzhi (1796 - 1875). Founded in the 19th century by many Taiwanese ancient towns dye-house, the dye of the "Darkness cloth" and "Blue cloth" ,reached its peak. After the rapid rise of the tea and chemical dyes used, the Indigo is gradually decline in 20th century. With promotion Indigo-dyeing has been 20 years, some people still doubt of the Indigo-dyeing. This study focus on using the materials of Sapan Wood and Indigo by the same material, time, dye concentration experiment with different staining method to find out the best solution of Indigo. The purpose of research is established the natural Indigo dye staining chromatography in Taiwan and find out the best solution of dyeing and color combinations.Through experiments and colors test can be found in the following assumptions: 1. The reduce of stained, hand-dyed fabric’s color darker than hanging stained. With the increase stained process, it will be not difference of chrominance within 10 times stained .The result shows it can use the hanging stained. It suggests machinery to replace the hand-stained not only effectively saving manpower, but also reduce labor costs and occupational injuries. 2. When use the silk fabric stained, it can get the better color as using Sapan wood dying first, the color darker and reddish, consistent with the results of the bibliography. It can be assumption the ancient China used indigo and Sapan in order to get the color of violet with silk fabric-based. The traditional craft of Indigo Dyeing was once lost in Taiwan. It restored and developed owing to the restoration effort of Taiwan Provincial Handicraft Research Institute. Later, the community university in Miaoli County offered the courses of Reappearance of Hakka Traditional Indigo Dyeing--New Look of Plant Indigo Dyeing. The teaching and promotion of indigo dyeing took root in Miaoli and related associations were established by indigo dyeing lovers in order to promote the craft of indigo dyeing. It is expected that more people can enjoy, inherit and develop the traditional craft of indigo dyeing through the transformation & transmission of knowledge. This study explored the procedures of the transformation & transmission of indigo dyeing before the students learned the knowledge of indigo dyeing and during the process of indigo dyeing through the introduction to the History and Culture of Indigo Dyeing, Individual Knowledge and the Transformation of Implicit and Explicit Knowledge. After finished the indigo dyeing course, the students share and exhibit their works, displaying the transformation & transmission of indigo dyeing knowledge. Using Hakka language in classes to negotiate and communicate the skills of indigo dyeing during classes was explored. Finally, the works of indigo dyeing were analyzed to interpret Hakka image. Participation observation, self-filled questionnaires, intensive interview and action research were utilized in the study. The study objects are 23 students in the primary class, 17 students in the advance class of second session of indigo dyeing in Maoli Hakka academy and 4 students in the disabled class in Zhunan. The learning and transformation of indigo dyeing skill were explored. The results of the study were concluded as below: 1. Before the process of dyeing, the students learn basic knowledge of indigo dyeing through reading and the instruction of teachers. They have dialogues with their previous individual background of knowledge and imagination. In the process of dyeing, the different skills of indigo dyeing are connected. A small part will affect the whole thing. Also many things in the dyeing processes can’t be expressed in explicit words. When they share, exhibit and communicate about the works, the circulation of the implicit and explicit knowledge and the spiral knowledge transformation of individual student were reviewed. 2. For different students, the transmission is different. For students in Maoli Indigo Dyeing Classes, they can express their own concept with their works in classes; For the disabled students in Zhunan, they need to practice, dismantle the movements and the steps need to be simplified to learn the skills. 3. Regarding the transmission of knowledge, know-how is an important study method. The attitude, degree and motive affect the success of learning too. Besides, learning from each other is the catalyst of knowledge transformation and transmission. 4. When Hakka culture and Hakka language become a media, it can help to transmit knowledge. It was found out that using familiar language Hakka in classes can accurately pass the knowledge of know-how, minimize the individual fumbling time.
