Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe theatrical text is an open and incomplete one that displays in it a hollow, an empty space the care of it is in principle ultimately the producer, who turns it into show to the public, responsible of its own right to fill in the gaps. It is around these voids, these cavities, these unspokens of texts that are also the main message that this thesis is based on the quest for implicit, its meanings and its stakes, social and cultural in the theatrical discourses on women and of women in traditional and cultural contexts. Such interlocutive situations from texts offer discursive tensions, revealing the social, the discursive and cultural figures involved. Exchange of words, these texts construe enunciative mechanisms which are complex, and of which a successively discursive and argumentative process enables one to identify the various stakeholders; their concerns which are discursive, and the argumentative strategies they implement to influence each other. The implicit is revealed through speech acts directly and indirectly supported by the assumptions and the underlying linguistic and cultural rights. They emit traditional and well-organized societies where the rule of man is evident to the detriment of women silenced. But beyond the common cliches about the lack of freedom of expression or the submission of traditional african (cameroonian) women, the implicit returns a different image of her, who, far from locking in the predetermined social position of subordination, she revolts and asserts herself as a full separate being, thereby raising questions of cultural identity. Moreover, taking into account the implicit option, one is allowed to conduct another hearing of theatre and, another reading of texts in general. It becomes an indispensable tool in the teaching of reading

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe interest in manipulation is growing in all areas of human communication. It is fully realised mainly through the language, whether combined or not with other means of communication. However, in linguistics, studies conducted on this subject are virtually non-existent.Manipulation by the discourse is an effective solution for realising the communication that seems compromised when the tension is extreme between the goals of the speaker on the one hand, and the means available including constraints of the context, on the other hand. The strategy of manipulation by the discourse is similar to rhetoric, while diverting it, because manipulation must keep secret its objectives and its means of realisation. Although it may use argumentation, most often, it avoids it.Political discourse is one of the best examples of this extreme tension which is necessary to the manipulation. The 2007 presidential campaign in France is the most recent and perhaps most suitable model for the study of the manipulation by the discourse. This research aims to report on linguistic means of achieving manipulation strategies in a global approach of discourse analysis. It proceeds by a detailed examination of its various formal supports: semantic variations, syntactic and discourse organization, interactions between the constituents, the role of the repetition, the implication etc. Given the importance of the context in its realization, the pragmatic approach, with the theory of the speech acts, turned out to be the most appropriate choice. Through many examples based on a corpus of 195 political speeches, it helps explain how the macro-speech act of manipulation functions, and it helps develop a global theory of manipulation by the discourse

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleUpon the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in early 1959, Francoism was celebrating its 20 years in power in Spain and did not look very keenly on the birth of this “tropical version of the CNT-FAI” (Paz-Sanchez : 1997). If the Revolution’s progressive ideas were to spread, the Spanish opposition – which had been persecuted and silenced up until then – may be revived. This revolutionary movement, however, managed to secure a (choice) position in the Francoist newspapers. We shall analyze the Francoist press’ discourse on the Cuban Revolution using the Critical Discourse Analysis methods. We shall aim to show how media coverage of the Cuban Revolution – a movement in total opposition with Francoist ideals – was integrated into the Spanish authorities’ ideological discourse and Franco’s dictatorship’s legitimization system. We shall explore the implicit and explicit arguments from the newspapers discourse that – thanks to this prominent topic – reactivate the mental patterns of the Spanish people, who had been subjected to National Catholicism ideology for the last two decades

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBuilding discourse parsers is currently a major challenge in Natural Language Processing. The identification of the relations (such as Explanation, Contrast. . . ) linking spans of text in the document is the main difficulty. Especially, identifying the so-called implicit relations, that is the relations that lack a discourse connective (such as but, because. . . ), is known as an hard tank sine it requires to take into account varions factors, and because it leads to specific difficulties in a classification system. In this thesis, we use raw data to improve automatic identification of implicit relations. First, we propose to use discourse markers in order to automatically annotate new data. We use domain adaptation methods to deal with the distributional differences between automatically and manually annotated data : we report improvements for systems built on the French corpus ANNODIS and on the English corpus Penn Discourse Treebank. Then, we propose to use word representations built from raw data, which may be automatically annotated with discourse markers, in order to feed a representation of the data based on the words found in the spans of text to be linked. We report improvements on the English corpus Penn Discourse Treebank, and especially we show that this method alleviates the need for rich resources, available but for a few languages

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleHow to describe and explain, by linguistic means, numerous speech events revolving around the term(s) "allusion / hint" ? In fact, the traditional rhetorical vision does not include the allusive acts of “everyday discourse". This study proposes to distinguish a special profile of "illocutionary manipulation" for the indirect speech acts uttered in a manner of suggesting or insinuating. The position of such utterances hesitates between accidental connotation and deliberate implication, and this uncertainty, intended by the speaker, is the sense of the "manipulation" in a speech act. The thesis also proposes a model of allusive utterance, which refers to a polemical topos (a "pretext") and expresses an illocutionary tension, especially in a manipulative manner (I0 and/or I1). A corpus-based study analyses the linguistic aspects of the illocutionary manipulations in political discourse

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn the behavioural sciences, the term ‘deviance’ is used variously to describe homosexuality, prostitution, pornography, sadomasochism, smoking, the consumption of drugs, membership of a sect, trans-identities. Although the law deals with these behaviours and acts, legal science has never appropriated the term. This thesis shows how the notion of deviance, far from being unknown to the law, actually pervades it, as is shown by unfavourable legal treatments applied to ‘deviant’ acts and behaviours. Such legal procedures and treatments are justified as means to protect persons defined as vulnerable, either intrinsically or on account of such acts and behaviours. The aim here is not to present an exhaustive description of unfavourable legal treatments applied to deviant acts and behaviours, but to deconstruct normative and/or classic liberal theories that assert, however implicitly, the liberal position that what is not forbidden is allowed. I contend that the law has a promotional function: by pointing to differences as abnormal, it constitutes them as deviances. By including them in a normalizing space, it creates other deviances. Deviance, therefore, is not a fixed legal category determining an applicable legal treatment, but plays a part in the normalization process at work in the legal system

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe Black and Scholes Formula is very popular among market practitioners, despite the differences between reality and the hypothesis. Market models have been proposed to expand this model, by modelling implied volatility. The aim of this research is the empirical study of the dynamics of the implied volatility surface. After studying each dimension of the surface separately, we incorporated the interactions between them. To perform that, we used a functional form of Principal Component Analysis, based on a Karhunen-Loève decomposition. We isolate and study the most important shocks factors driving the implied volatility surface. Our results suggest different behaving for short and long term volatilities. Studying the time series of the obtained factors, we show that these are well represented by jump processes, particularly the first factor, which represents the global variation of the implied volatility surface. We then analyse the informational content of the implied volatility surface, by estimating and studying risk neutral densities. We find that the same jumps phenomenons are present in changes of investors' anticipations. There are many applications of the proposed models, particularly for Vega hedging of options portfolios, and for the valuation and risk management of exotic options and volatility derivatives

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis studies the discourse of the European Union about the European Judicial Network between 1996 and 1999. Using discourse analysis and lexicometrics within the theoretical framework of argumentative semantics, it explores the meaning of words associated with the expression of « area of freedom, security and justice ». The research mainly aims at understanding how the discourse reappropriate universal values in order to construct, through argumentative processes, a European identity that embodies the European Judicial Network. After presenting the political context and the linguistic theories used in the analysis methods, the thesis examines the conditions of discourse production and its semantic particularities. It argues that the discourse constructs an identity based on the values (liberty, security and justice) conveyed by the three pillars of the European Judicial Network : institutions, organised crime and citizens. The thesis then puts forward the idea of a “discursive normalisation” that helps, through its linguistic forms, to legitimate the identity construction and its political issues. It also defines a process of “argumentative manipulation” resulting from this “discursive normalisation” implementing a very distinctive linguistic frame. According to those results, the research concludes that normalisation and manipulation generate circularity of the discourse, which is based on the conflict between two discursive orientations, on the one hand security and on the other hand democracy and the Rule of law
Le, Querler Nicole. „Pouvoir : Modalité assertée, modalité implicite. Analyse des conditions d'équivalence entre énoncés modalisés“. Caen, 1989. http://www.theses.fr/1989CAEN1056.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis analyses conditions of equivalence between sentences modalized by pouvoir and the same sentences without pouvoir, i. E conditions of equivalence between simple assertion and modalized assertion on the one hand, between modalized assertion and overmodalized assertion on the other hand. We put forward a short historical account of modal theories and semantics of pouvoir, in logic (chapteri) and in linguistics (chapterii). Then we suggest a classification of modalities constituted around the speaker : subjective modalities (epistemic and appreciative modalities), intersubjective modalities (they are implilationship between the speaker and one or several other subjects), objective modalities (they are implicative modalities). We consider that the semantics of pouvoir is constituted around an under-defined core-meaning, to which context may add determination allowing two kinds of interpretations, intra or extra-predicative; at last, specific parameters may allow particular interpretations of pouvoir (chapter iii). General conditions of equivalence between sentences with or without pouvoir depend on the interpretation of pouvoir : intra-predicative pouvoir allows equivalence for two aspectual values (property value and actualized value), and when pouvoir is in the subjunctive or in the infinitive. Extra-predicative pouvoir allows equivalence if it belongs to the same modal field as other markers in the sentence. Focusing of speech or incidence of modality on pouvoir (with an overdetermined value of the modal verb) tends to forbid the equivalence (chapteriv). Particular conditions of equivalence are analysed in each of the following chapters : assertion of a property (v), assertion of actualized facts (vi), epistemic modalities (vii), appreciative modalities (viii), intersubjective modalities (ix) and implicative modalities (x)

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn madame bovary the discourse of the characters which is inserted in that of the narrator takes the form of reported speech. In this study, i have tried to establish a clear distinction between three types of reported speech : direct speech, indirect speech and free reported speech. The characters' reported discourse takes its "purest" form in direct speech describes well literal citation discourse which is spoken or though about of character within romanesque fiction. When it is expressedthrough indirect speech and free reported speech, the characters' discourse, which contain certain ideolectal features, contains other features which are characteristic of the narrator. The indirect speech takes the form of an opinion which is cited without being camed to the letter. The narrator reformulates the discourse he reports, but in his own way. The reported discourse in the indirect speech is constrained to be adapted to the context which results in several modifications in textual character. As for the free reported speech there is a mixture of elements which one could consider disjointed such as two texts existing coteminously and the loss of coherence feature in the reported speech

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleInterpreted Evangelical Discourses: Analysis of the Interactional Organization In a multilingual evangelical Christian setting, the intervention of a mediator (i.e. an interpreter) becomes necessary in order to guarantee the understanding of the moment of preaching, among other activities (e.g. prayers, announcements, etc.). Nowadays, studies on religious interpreted speeches from a conversational perspective are marginal. This research focuses on the analysis of consecutive interpreting sequences in speeches made in two evangelical churches, one in France, the other in Venezuela. It is based on an observation methodology supported by audiovisual recordings and their transcriptions. From these data gathered in situ, this study highlights, thanks to the Conversation Analysis, the internal organization of the exchanges, and mainly the course of the « turn taking system » in its details. In order to do this, we take into consideration, on one hand, the interactional aspects of the work of the interpreters allowing the intelligibility of the exchanges (i.e. competencies), and on the other hand, the characteristic elements of the evangelical context (i.e. shared cognitive objects). In the same way, this study points out the transversal problems encountered in the course of the activity and their interactional effects (e.g. temporal constraints, omissions, additions, overlaps). In this sense, thanks to the analysis of the sequences, we show that these difficulties are not treated in the same way by all the participants, and that the interpreter plays an important role; he exerts an influence on the intersubjective relation and in the coordination of exchanges

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe object our thesis is to bring to light signs of relations (meeting points and divergences) between a specifical discourse (historical discourse and notion of type of discourse to debate) and the historian's source. The study will focus on a selection of material composed of a part of historical discourse and a part of historical source (research in archives and digitalisation). The discourse of history is the meeting place traces of the historian's source, with the perception of events (in the past or nowaday, and through collective memory and cultural heritage), and the past reality, which was written by the historian. Science of langage will show the discourse elaborating constructions of meaning in specific domains (historical and politic) on the level of the text and the inter-texte level (intertextual and interrelation relations). If the historian discourse is a reappropriate and a reformulation of the historians source, it must carry its traces, and linguistic can explain structures of meanings

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe historic dimension of the notion of emotion and its stakes in speech shows that this one is joined into a problem of control of its expression in the language. We want to prove that to communicate their feelings social actors operate verbal and not verbal language strategies. For it we built an experiment in several phases. We show at first to teachers a video on the violence to infer emotion. They train twice to argue their point of view before repeating last time their performances in front of an addressee. We stress then by order either the demonstration of the emotion, or the demonstration of argumentation (gestures) or both. We so want to know which are the indicators which the subjects choose to stage to answer these contracts. This experimentation allowed to fix four types of speeches which were presented to subjects so that they identify the most convincing. The results bring to light: a) that the speech of the emotion consists at the same moment of indicators which the subject chooses voluntarily to stage and the other emotional involuntary underlying demonstrations more anchored in gestuality ; b) subjects in reception estimate as all the more convincing the speeches which appeal to the emotional dimension of the communication. We so demonstrated the importance of this dimension in the argumentative speeches

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe aim of this study is to describe and explain the cultural and linguistic differences between the text organizational patterns in French and Japanese. On the basis of the contrastive rhetoric, part I of this thesis describes the differences in text organization between the two languages and attemps to determine the origins of these differences. Nine Japanese specificities are identified as contributing factors : (1) the organizational pattern "ki-syô-ten-ketu", (2) released structure and framework, (3) subject as a starting point, (4) symbolic expression, (5) expression of ego, (6) interaction, (7) indirect expression, (8) fragmentary nature, and (9) evocation and associative ties. An examination of these specificities with other specificities is conducted at the production level (comparison of French and Japanese school handbooks) and at the representation level (a sample survey conducted among Japanese students and French teachers). Part II is devoted to analysing linguistic factors and characterizing the two languages. By adopting the theoretical framework of Jean-Michel Adam (2008), we examine five aspects of text : continuity, discontinuity, and the three dimensions of a "proposition-énoncé (proposition-utterance)". Five fundamental differences are observed between the French and Japanese languages. 1. Cohesion is stronger in French. 2. Reference is more explicit in French. 3. Point of view is expressed less explicitly in French. 4. Illocutionary force is weaker in French. 5. Text segmentation is stronger in French. To verify these hypotheses, four phenomena are examinated : connectors, "the unsaid", oui/si/non (and their Japanese equivalents hai/îe), and persons

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe central thesis of this study is that discourse analysis of dyadic NNS-NNS communication can reveal not only the process of mutual scaffolding through negotiation, in which students work within their partner's zone of proximal development, but that this analysis can also reveal, though not prove, the actual process of second-language learning. The theories of negotiation and mutual scaffolding propose that the negotiation sequences occurring in Non-Native Speaker (NNS)/ Non-Native Speaker discourse due to breakdowns in communication, play an important role in foreign language acquisition. This study is based on transcripts from several hours of recordings of student dyads from the National Institute of Horticulture, Angers. The analysis code has been developed by the author and is an adaptation of several codes used in previous research. The discourse is analysed in terms of : discourse (self-repairs, requests for repair, unrequested repairs, confirmation checks, etc. ), problem source (phonological, grammatical, lexical, etc. ), and repair type (explanation in L1 or L2, grammatical transformation, translation, etc. ). The study provides a historical analysis of the development of second-language acquisition theory, and describes in some detail the Vygotskian, or sociocultural-based theory which is chosen as the perspective from which to analyse the coded NNS-NNS discourse. The analysis demonstrates the plentiful use of the dynamic processes of negotiation and mutual scaffolding, but cannot from such an analysis provide any quantifiable proof that NNS-NNS dyadic discourse leads to long-term second language acquisition

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe process of generalising when making an utterance could be defined as a means of de-constructing the specificity of an event or a propriety. It is then necessary to go beyond the frame of phrastic genericity, which operates exclusively on syntactic-semantic values, and to explore all the form a speaker is likely to use for producing an "ever-true" utterance directed to an addressee. Taking into account this starting-point the process used is that which situates generalisation as a phenomenum at the junction of utterance and argument, introducing thus the problematic of the speaker. We have consequently attempted to oppose the notion of generalising utterance to the generic sentence. Not only does this notion enlarge the field of our investigations, but it calls for a methodology of distortion which consists in eliminating any form of uttering modulations capable of affecting the token-utterance without questioning its "law-like" value. Seen under that angle, generalisation opens up a field of research comparatively autonomous and complementary to that of genericity. Its incorporates to the field of the syntactic semantic contraints the intra-subjective components, turning speaker into a potential member of a class of speakers, and every utterance into one likely to be uttered again

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis work assumes the inclusion of punctuation in the system of the language, motivated by grammaticalization. It considers ponctuation mark as a real sign of written language, a ''ponctème'' to which it is possible to confer a differential value and a meaning, by the confrontation of a graphic signifier and a signified. We present a linguistic study of the suspension point, a complex and versatile sign, traditionally endowed with antithetical properties and with uncountable functions. By distinguishing the semiotic level from the semantic and metasemantic level, we define the ''ponctème'' as the sign of latency, which can be discursively interpreted as 1) suppression 2) suspension 3) supplementation. The reflexive value of latency allows us to account for the various discursive constructions of the sign, in the literary, journalistic or else metalinguistic discourses. It offers the possibility of considering in the perspective of poetics a genre of discourse which transcends the opposition between literary and non-literary discourse. From its first use in the french printed theater of the XVIIth century to todays's uses in numerous kinds of discourse, this ideogram of latency (making appear a possible appearance) is a sign whose unstable, transgressive, excessive value is closely related to an oblique discourse
Chalabi, Fares. „Logique de l'implicite“. Thesis, Paris 8, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017PA080145/document.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleLogic of the implicit is a research that compares different metaphysical systems and aims at extracting the form of philosophical argumentation proper to each of these systems. The study is carried on Parmenides, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Hume, Kant, Hegel, and Nietzsche – Deleuze. The approach consists in following as close as possible the fundamental texts of the above cited authors, an approach aimed at summarizing their argumentations and showing points of encounter or divergence in their way of producing their ontological positions. What is at stake then is to read these texts from the point of view of the construction of their arguments, and then to extract the constructive tools that characterize the philosophical way of doing things. The content is only considered from the point of view of its relation to these argumentative forms. Logic of the implicit, through these different case studies, proposes itself as a project of abstract philosophy, because it aims at extracting the elements and relations that are proper to the ontological argumentation. The attention is focused on showing the existence of general styles – such as the approach by choc or by distinction –, on certain elements recurrent in all the systems – such as the smallest difference, the double point, the extensive or comprehensive qualifications –, and at last on the relations – explication, implication, and complication. It is argued that the implicit occupies a central place in the metaphysical argumentation to the extent that it is from that place that any explanation is possible and thus any knowledge

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research focuses on the influences of the "Arab Spring" on the tourist discourse that we approach under two argumentative modalities: tourism advertising and tourism promotion. To deal with this issue, we have collected an iconotexual corpus (text + image) among media resources very varied, distributed between 2011 and 2015 by two representative countries for the scale of their tourism activity (Egypt and Tunisia). The analysis of this corpus is based on the assumption that the various speech genres of our corpus are based on a linguistic and visual conception that is relatively different from the information according to the speech genre and the target on the one hand, and according to the cultural underpinning and psychosocial of a complex virtual ideological image in adequacy with the post-crisis on the other hand. The theoretical framework puts forward this complex virtual image in the form of "imagery", a central psychosocial concept in advertising and tourism promotion thanks to its ability to associate the cultural heritage of representations of the past with expectations, dreams and the wishes aroused by the future tourist adventure put on display in this imagery. The theoretical framework anchors the imagery in different speech genres from their constituent dimensions as the textual, socio-physical and material dimensions in order to identify the linguistic process implemented by the speech genre responsible for the reading contract with the recipient and the mobilization of cultural content.Tunisia and Egypt have not responded in the same way to the impact of the new post-crisis political and security context. Indeed, while Egypt has been content with the classic reproduction of tourist imagery based on the variety of its pharaonic heritage by removing the issue of the geopolitical evolution of spring in post-crisis in its imagery, Tunisia, for its part, has resorted to the combination of discursive and visual argumentation founding an imagery that combines not only tradition and architecture but also the security and modernity of intense tourist experiences. In addition, the Tunisian corpus has been more open to creativity, compared to the Egyptian corpus, through the integration of new very varied genres such as economic or political news articles, literary chronicles, etc. The post-crisis adaptation of the content in a wider range of speech genres from which we have been able to identify the semiolinguistic characteristics through an analysis conducted from a specifically designed grid which has subsequently been translated into didactic translation in the proposal for a French module for Specific Objective (FSO) aimed at acquiring specific professional skills for future tourism professionals in certain Middle Eastern countries whose socio-linguistic context of French is similar to the Egyptian context

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleFrom a corpus of three films of agricultural vulgarization, diffused by Can Tho television (1989-1991), the author carried out analyses of the markers of didacticity. The dissertation has been built along three main lines : - the analysis of the situations in which the corpus was produced, in which particular stress has been put on the appearence of the + praxeme ; Khuyen nong (agricultural encouragement), considered to serve as a vehicle for the new problematics of agricultural vulgarization in Vietnam, a problematics in which farmers play an important part. - the analysis of the enunciative production of the three films, the makings of which are considered to be + seductive ; strategies, which are components of any discourse of vulgarization. - the analysis of the explicit markers of didacticity, which can be traced on the surface of texts and which aim to facilitate the transmission of agricultural skills and to stimulate the target public into using such skills
