Untargeted (NMR) and targeted (RP-HPLC-PDA-ESI-MSn, RP-HPLC-FD) analytical methodologies were used to determine the bioactive components of 19 tea samples, characterized by different production processes (common tea and GABA tea), degrees of fermentation (green and oolong teas), and harvesting season (autumn and spring). The combination of NMR data and a multivariate statistical approach led to a statistical model able to discriminate between GABA and non-GABA teas and green and oolong teas. Targeted analyses showed that green and GABA green teas had similar polyphenol and caffeine contents, but the GABA level was higher in GABA green teas than in regular green tea samples. GABA oolong teas showed lower contents of polyphenols, caffeine, and amino acids, and a higher content of GABA, in comparison with non-GABA oolong teas. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the healthy properties of teas, especially GABA teas, have to be evaluated via comprehensive metabolic profiling rather than only the GABA content.

OBJECTIVE: Tea has been considered a healthy alternative to other industrialized beverages. The objective of this study was to assess the erosive potential of teas commercially available in Brazil by pH and titratable acidity measures. METHODS: Eighteen teas available in Brazilian market were selected for this study (read to drink and brewed tea), and a brand of yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis). Each product was analyzed for pH and titratable acidity. For comparison between different kinds of teas, the Student t test was used. RESULTS: The mean pH values for ready to drink teas ranged between 2.89 and 4.03, while for the brewed teas and yerba mate the values ranged between 6.75 and 7.89. The difference between the two groups was significant (p < 0.05). Regarding titratable acidity, the ready to drink teas showed mean values ranging between 3.77 ml and 12.68 ml. Brewed teas (including yerba mate) were not tested for titratable acidity because their pH values were greater than 7.0. CONCLUSION: Among the teas commercially available, ready to drink teas have lower pH values and higher titratable acidity compared to other teas. It suggests that they have an erosive potential.

Several herbs are presently used in the food industry as functional additives, such as botanic extracts in healthy drinks. Rapid population growth uses healthy drinks for slimming, weight control, and various other beauty applications. In Asian countries, the custom of tea consumption is highly prevalent. Caffeine is the most commonly used behaviourally active ingredient in the world. Tea and coffee are the main product of daily caffeine intake. The review aimed to describe the word ‘next-generation tea’ and the implication of herbal tea/drinks which typically refers to healthy drinks produced using fresh or dried herbs, leaves, immature berries, seeds, and roots of the source material, such as infusion or boiling. Next-generation teas are rich in natural, bioactive compounds, including carotenoids, flavonoids, phenolic acids, alkaloids, coumarins, polyacetylene, terpenoids, and saponins. Traditional review methodology with practical and methodological screening was done to determine the appropriate reference sources. Various empirical research has demonstrated that bioactive compounds are responsible for multiple diversified biological functions, including anticarcinogenicity, antimutagenicity, and antiaging effects such as antibacterial, antioxidant, and antiviral. The next generation tea has more diverse bioactive compounds than Camellia sinensis L. based teas which make it potential as a healthy drink.

Herbal teas ofMoringa oleifera(Moringa) andGlycyrrhiza glabra(Licorice)were known to have many beneficial effects, their possible hypolipidemic effects were investigated in this paper. Albino wistar rats were fed with aqueous extracts ofM. oleifera,G. glabraand their blend teas(10, 30 and 50 mg/kg.BW/ml). The teas were found to lower the serum cholesterol, triglycerides, VLDL, LDL, and atherogenic index at their higher concentration, but were found to slightly increase the HDL as compared to the corresponding normal healthy rats fed with clean water (control). The phytochemicals screening of the teas aqueous extract were also investigated, the chemicals (tannins, saponins, flavonoids, terpenoids and glycosides) which were known to exhibit cholesterol lowering effect by inhibiting its absorption and simultaneous increase its excretion were found to be present in the teas extract. Thus, the study demonstrates and validates thatM.oleifera,G. glabraand their blend possess hypolipidemic effect at higher concentration.

Cronobacter sakazakii is an important cause of human infections that can be serious and even fatal among premature neonates and immunocompromised adults or infants. Because of its high tolerance to osmotic stress, C. sakazakii is frequently isolated from dried foods, such as powdered infant formula and herbal teas. The aim of investigation was detection, identification and molecular characterization of Cronobacter sakazakii isolates from infant formula and various herbal teas collected from Serbian market and tested for import control. C. sakazakii was not detected in any of the 360 analysed samples of powdered infant formula. However, 192 out of 520 samples of herbal teas tested were positive for C. sakazakii (37.1%). The high prevalence was observed in teas for children (51.6%) and in ?baby? teas (44.1%), followed by medicinal teas (38%). The largest one-herb-teas group (221 samples) contained 72 C. sakazakii-positive samples (32.6%) and involved Sennae folium, Althaeae radix, Menthae piperitae folium, Chamomilae flos and Urticae folium teas. Molecular characterization of isolated C. sakazakii from different herbal teas by rep-PCR, RAPD and 16S rRNA sequences analysis showed the high similarity to C. sakazakii NCTC 8155. Knowing this strain as one of the most pathogenic clinical strains, our results raise concern about the safety risks these foods pose to immunocompromised and healthy consumers, especially for babies and children.

South African herbal teas, rooibos and honeybush, are increasingly enjoyed as healthy alternatives to Camellia sinensis teas. They contribute to the diet with bioactive phytochemicals not commonly found in foods. Major compounds of rooibos are the unique dihydrochalcone, aspalathin, and its flavone isomers, orientin and isoorientin. Honeybush contributes the xanthones, mangiferin and isomangiferin and the flavanones, eriocitrin, narirutin and hesperidin. All these compounds are either C-glucosides or O-rhamnoglucosides, which are poorly absorbed. Phase II metabolism and degradation by intestinal bacteria are important factors in their absorption. Modulation of drug metabolising enzymes is indicated which not only could affect the therapeutic window of drugs, but also the bioavailability of other dietary flavonoids.

This is a study of two community mental health teams based in Wales. The research was carried out during 1992. It focuses on the regular meetings of the two teams and analysis of transcripts of tape recordings of the meetings. The research may be seen as: (i) a case study in policy implementation and some of the features of multi-disciplinary teamwork which affect the translation of policy into action; (ii) an examination of the nature of teamwork at the interface of health and social services; (iii) a micro-sociological analysis of the production and display of occupational identities in a welfare bureaucracy. Non-participant observation of team meetings and analysis of the transcripts were supplemented by interviews with team members and other significant actors in the delivery of the community mental health services. The division of labour within the teams and the inter-professional relationships between team members were as key organisational events which provide an arena where re-constituting, or resisting, professional dominance in a changed service environment takes place. The study shows how basic decisions about the format of meetings can produce both intended and unintended consequences for the nature of the work teams do, including patient selection and categorisation.

Three commercially available herbal tea preparations (Weightless, Female Toner, and PMS) and one single ingredient herbal preparation, Chaparral (Larrea tridentata), were sequentially extracted with solvents of decreasing polarity (water, methanol and chloroform) and the crude extracts obtained screened for toxic/mutagenic potentials using the brine shrimp (Artemia sp.), mouse acute toxicity, Salmonella/microsomal mutagenicity, and chicken embryo bioassays. The crude aqueous extract from Weightless Tea was very toxic to brine shrimp larvae and had a cathartic action in mice at the highest concentration tested. While Weightless tea crude water extract was not mutagenic to Salmonella typhimurium TA100 at the concentrations tested, three chromatographic isolates obtained from a silica Gel 60 column were mutagenic to the test organism. Two of these isolates were detoxified after inclusion of a microsomal activation system. The teratogenic potentials of these isolates are unknown as the results obtained from the chicken embryo bioassay were not conclusive.

Within the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) in UK, Approved Mental Health Practitioners (AMHPs) and Mental Health Social Workers (MHSWs) from Local Authority Social Services Department (LASSD) work alongside other mental health professionals from health service backgrounds, promoting a multi-disciplinary model of working. However little is known about the impact of this model on these professionals. This research endeavoured to understand mental health social work interventions in multidisciplinary CMHTs in respect of: 1.The practice of general mental health social work 2.The impact of 2007 MHA on social work practice. 3.Mental Health Act assessments (statutory role) 4.Contributions to interdisciplinary mental health teams 5.Barriers and difficulties in integrated working An ethnographic approach in two CMHTs was employed in drawing upon secondary data, observations and interviews with AMHPs, MHSWs, other mental health professionals and service users, facilitating a rich understanding of the social work role from different perspectives. Bronfenbrenner’s (1977) ‘Ecology of Human Development Theory’ provided the conceptual and theoretical framework for the study, by identifying the different systems social work professionals interact in their practice. The findings reveal tensions in the microsystem (CMHT) on role definition, losing professional identity, difficulties in care coordination and stigma and status of social work professionals. Tensions in the exosystem include: poor collaboration between LASSD and the Mental Health Trust, fragmented relationships between AMHPs/MHSWs and LASSD, difficulties in working in specialist teams and the medical dominance in CMHTs. Findings on the macrosystem reveal impact of policies and legislation on social work professionals’ roles. I intend that these results will contribute significantly to the development and profile of MHSWs and AMHPs, as a professional group, and in turn will improve and develop the quality of social work support within mental health services. This subsequently will improve outcomes for service users, carers and communities.

Literature Review: Psychological consultation is a common activity in mental health services, but evidence concerning its theoretical grounding, processes, and outcomes are relatively rare. Fifteen mixed method consultation studies were included in the review. Studies were assessed for methodological quality, and found to range from limited to strong. Cognitive behavioural consultation was the main approach used and consultation was most frequently delivered via formulation meetings. Psychological consultation appears to particularly improve staff understanding about clients and consultants should remain visible and accessible to teams. Practical and methodological developments are suggested to the consultation evidence base. Research Report: This empirical study aimed to measure the effectiveness of cognitive analytic consultancy (CAC) offered within a community team and then to explore the possible mechanisms of change. An A-B with follow-up small N case series (N=5) design was used that utilised a mixed methodology employing outcome measures and semi-structured interviews. There were significant improvements in client fragmentation, staff competence and emotional exhaustion, and alliance from a client perspective. Potential mechanism of change included the therapists approach, using the sequential diagrammatic reformulation, and acknowledging that difficult processes helped recovery. Further head-to-head trials comparing CAC to other consultation frameworks appears warranted.

Annotation:
This study explored the extent to which contextual differences affected the organisational dynamics of mental health teams. Organisational dynamics in mental health teams were explored by studying teams with similar primary tasks who worked in differing contexts. A psychodynamic methodology for exploring organisational dynamics was used to explain the operation of mental health teams in terms of psychodynamic theory. Five case studies were conducted in mental health services that were differentiated by their proximity to patients and to the organisation. They were also differentiated by specific differences in patients' level of illness, experience of staff and the facilities provided to do the work. This enabled organisational. dynamics to be related to structural elements of mental health service design. The design of mental health services, for people with severe mental illnesses, has grown to reflect other parts of the health service in terms of service structures whilst the behaviours of staff reflects the psychological difficulties their patients face. Patients experience disturbed intrapsychic boundaries that entail splitting off and projecting of aspects of their ego to the extent that internal processes are experienced as external. Staff split off madness or failure and locate it in the patient so that both groups are caught in a hostile stand off. Organisational defences were enacted in different ways in different parts of the service. The ward offered a high action environment where newly trained staff could feel effective through the administration of medication that was forced if necessary. Staff retreated to the office and their experience was compared to being in a city under siege. The specialist department offered staff more control over their exposure to patients to the extent that very few patients were seen and service ideals went unchallenged. The hostel faced staff with the boredom that results from working with people whose condition goes unchanged over long periods of time. In this environment staff took over daily rituals in place of the residents. The community mental health team were responsible for the wellbeing of their patients although they saw them only for brief periods. They ventured out into unpredictable environments to administer their care. The final case involved a primary care team and this case was used in the consideration of potential effectiveness of new mental health service designs. It was concluded that, without consideration of the impact of changes to service structures on the unconscious processes of the staff, seemingly rational structural changes could have unintended negative consequences on organisational dynamics and therefore on the treatment that patients receive.

Thesis (MTech (Consumer Science: Food and Nutrition))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2016.
Background: The different types and forms of rooibos and the ways in which it is prepared and flavoured for consumption influences its total polyphenol content and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and hence depends on its consumer practices. Design: Phase 1 of the study entailed the selection and preparation of different rooibos types and forms; rooibos brewed for different times; and with different household and commercially added flavourings to determine the total polyphenol content, TAC, flavonol and flavanol content; and subsequent identification of the optimal cup of rooibos based on the first two biochemical parameters. For Phase 2 a questionnaire was used to obtain information on the profile of the adult rooibos herbal tea consumer, as well as of those consuming the optimal cup of rooibos. Results: The following prepared rooibos samples delivered the higher biochemical parameter content: green / unfermented (type representative); green / unfermented leaves and powdered extract (form representatives); that brewed for 10 minutes or longer; and those with added honey. The optimal cup of rooibos was identified as the one brewed for 10 minutes or longer. The older respondents and those with a lower level of education consumed a higher daily amount of rooibos (p < 0.05) and those who brewed rooibos in a teapot consumed the optimal cup (p < 0.05). However, very few respondents consumed the advised number of cups per day (< 1%) and the identified optimal cup (15.9%). Conclusions: Rooibos consumers in this study did not consume it in sufficient amounts and did not brew it for long enough to fully gain from its attributed health benefits.

Thesis submitted in fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Master of Technology: Biomedical Technology In the Faculty of Health and Wellness Sciences At the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2012
Human and experimental animal studies have shown that biomarkers of oxidative damage are elevated in subjects with certain diseases or risk factors. Consequently, it is hypothesized that oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathogenesis of these diseases and that dietary intake of, or supplementation with antioxidants may be protective or be useful therapeutic targets. This study was designed to investigate the modulatory effect of Camellia sinensis (Chinese green tea), Aspalathus linearis (rooibos herbal tea) and the two commercial supplements on the antioxidant status of the liver and kidney of tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP)-induced oxidative stress male Wistar rats. Rooibos and green tea are beverages well-known for their antioxidant content. Based on the specific beverage consumed, sixty male Wistar rats were randomly assigned into six groups, i.e. fermented rooibos (FRT), unfermented rooibos (URT), Chinese green tea (CGT), rooibos supplement (RTS), Chinese green tea supplement (GTS) and control (CTL). The animals had free access to the respective beverages and standard diet for 10 weeks, while oxidative stress was induced during the last 2 weeks via intraperitoneal injection of 30 μM of t-BHP per 100 g body weight. Among all the beverage and/or supplement preparations, the commercial rooibos supplement had the highest total polyphenol content and antioxidant activity while fermented rooibos, as previously shown, had a lower antioxidant content and potency when compared to its unfermented counterpart. The ability of these beverages and/or supplements to modulate the antioxidant status in tissues was organ specific and varied according to the assessment method. When considering the liver, the intake of unfermented rooibos, Chinese green tea and the commercial rooibos supplement significantly (P<0.05) restored the t-BHP-induced reduction and increased the antioxidant status with regards to oxygen radical absorbance capacity and trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) levels. All the beverages and/or supplements also significantly (P<0.05) enhanced the renal antioxidant capacity as assessed by the TEAC assay. In what may be an indication of decreased oxidative stress, all the beverages were associated with a general decline in activities of the antioxidant enzymes which reached significant levels in renal superoxidase dismutase activity. Generally, the beverages did not impact significantly on lipid peroxidation (LPO) although there were differing trends in the two LPO markers assessed. While thiobarbituric acid reactive substances levels showed a declining trend in both tissues, the conjugated dienes were generally elevated. In conclusion, this study confirms Camellia sinensis and Aspalathus linearis as well as their two supplements as good sources of dietary antioxidants and results demonstrated that rooibos and green tea improved the liver and kidney antioxidant capacity of oxidative stress-induced rats. Their impact on antioxidant status in rats was shown to vary between organs and according to the method of assessment. Hence multi-method, multi-organ assessment may be a more informative approach in in vivo antioxidant studies.

Chinese tea culture, deeply rooted in history, is facing challenges in contemporary markets, particularly in appealing to younger consumers. Yunnan A Chang Pu-er tea, originating from a region with a long tradition of tea production, seeks to enter the Japanese market amidst China's vast tea industry yet weak branding. Japan also has a long history of tea culture, and a growing interest in health and beauty benefits of tea. A survey conducted by Itoen Corporation reveals increasing health consciousness among Japanese consumers, particularly in their 20s, with green tea's health benefits gaining prominence. This trend is reflected in a rise in tea consumption, driven primarily by health considerations. Despite the dominance of green tea in Japan, there is potential for introducing Chinese Pu-er tea to cater to evolving consumer preferences. Furthermore, the study highlights the enduring interest of young Japanese women in healthy tea consumption, a trend unaffected by time. Considering Japan's focus on eco initiatives, the study aims to conduct research of Pu-er tea's brand new image for Japanese market with environmentally friendly packaging, leveraging QR code technology to enhance consumer engagement and storytelling about Chinese tea history.

Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death and decreased quality of life. Cardiothoracic surgery provides the chance to live longer with cardiovascular disease. Proper use of clinical protocols, regular clinical evaluation, medication review, improved modifiable risk factors, psychological support, and supervised physical exercise can enhance the longer-term effects of surgery. Additionally, a healthy lifestyle can improve modifiable risk factors and enhance longevity. Despite the great effort of the clinical teams to encourage patients towards healthy habits after surgery, one year after surgery some patients need to be readmitted to the hospital due to avoidable complications. This paper presents a digital conversational agent designed to reinforce the advice about protective behaviors provided by the clinical team, contributing to improving and sustaining health outcomes during the first year after surgery.A Design Science Research Methodology was used to integrate the clinical teams' experience and knowledge, and the patients' knowledge into the final artifact. A needs assessment was conducted to identify improvement opportunities in the cardiothoracic surgery service. A systematic literature review was used to characterize the dimensions of the solutions adopted in previous research, and an interdisciplinary team was assembled to address them comprehensively. Two semi-structured interviews were conducted with the relevant stakeholders (clinical team and patients). Additionally, a survey of theories that explain patient behavior change was done to support the personalization of content delivery. Afterward, a platform to provide the intervention was developed in accordance with stakeholders' requirements.Literature review and semi-structured interviews showed that physical activity and a healthy diet influence modifiable risk factors. Thus, these were the behaviors selected as targets of the intervention digital conversational agent, which is being designed based on the behavior change wheel framework. This work intends to incorporate a Behavior Change Theory into the algorithm definition to improve the comprehension of the intervention's effects and the patient's profile over time. The iterative research approach was chosen to continuously improve the artifact's robustness, sustainability, adoption, and usability by having all the stakeholders at the center of the design process.

Introduction Maintaining good life quality in urban neighbourhoods is one of the biggest challenges. The project "Healthy Neighbourhoods - Health Promotion and Prevention in Districts" ( 07/201712/2020) aims to describe and improve health and quality of life of citizens living in neighbourhoods with different socioeconomic statuses. Method To examine a possible connection between social and health situation, six districts with "very low", "low", "middle" and "high" social statuses will be compared. An instrument was developed to measure walkability, community sense, nutrition, alcohol and tobacco consumption, resilience, health-related quality of life as well as the socio-economic and the socio-demographic status. Results In April 2019, the team recorded n=621 interviews (n=102 in Lohbrügge, n=116 in Rahlstedt, n=87 in Sasel, n=135 in Stellingen, n=65 Wilhelmsburg and n=116 in Hamm). Men were somewhat overrepresented compared to women (n=268 woman, n=345 men, n=2 diverse, n=8 no indication). Respondents were aged between 18 - 96 (mean = 57.5, SD = 19.6). Discussion The results demonstrate different health situations, resources and challenges regarding the socio-economic status and the district respectively. To ensure a participative approach, the results will be presented to citizens and health experts living in these districts and form the basis to develop health promoting intervention.

The Family Health Strategy (FHS) is crucial to expand health coverage. This study, carried out during the second period of the Medicine course at the University Center of Goiatuba, analyzed the Family Health Strategy -303, in Goiatuba, through the situational diagnosis, which evaluates the health conditions of a population, allowing us to know the challenges experienced in that place andto plan strategic actionsfor possible improvements. Goiatuba, in Goiás, has 13 Family Health Units to serve 35,664 inhabitants. Data from the health unit were collected and analyzed, including interviews with the preceptor and nurses, as well as site visits. There was a prevalence of cases of hypertension, diabetes and schizophrenia, as well as structural weaknesses such as the lack of a vaccination room, a preventiveroom, problems in the dental office and the absence of a complete team of collaborators. These factors hinder service efficiency and quality of care. Pamphlets were distributedand an awareness campaign on healthy lifestyle was carried out, encouraging healthy eating, physical exercise, and structural improvements in the unit were suggested, such as implementing psychological counseling. The research highlighted the importance of situational diagnosis to understand the reality of local health and implement more effective actions, aiming to serve the entire population.

Herbal teas are a popular beverage, that can be prepared very easily (by pouring hot water on various dried herbs). It is very important to monitor and develop a screening methodology for detecting the metal content of both tea plants and herbal tea. A variety of bioactive phytochemicals in the human diet are from f plant-based foodstuffs. Due to their minor side effects, the medicinal plants are widely used to treat many human diseases. Polyphenols, the most abundant components in tea, determine the quality and health function of tea. There are a variety of methods for the analysis of total polyphenols content from tea and medicinal plants, which range from the traditional titration method, to the widely used spectrophotometry based on the color Folin Ciocalteu reaction. Natural products from medicinal plants, from the old foundations of traditional medicine, play today a vital role in the discovery of new active therapeutic agents. The aim of this study was to establish the total content of polyphenols of herbal of tea (medicinal plant) grown in different regions of Romania. In our work we collected herbal teas from county Gorj. These herbals are rosehip (Rose canina), chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), peppermint (Mentha piperita), marigold (Calendula officinalis), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), and perforate St John's-wort (Hypericum perforatum). The content of total phenols from medicinal plants were estimated by the Folin Ciocalteu method, a spectrophotometric method. The content of phenols in medicinal herbs shows significant variations determined by the nature and type of herbal tea.

INTRODUCTION The Somali Region is one of the least developed regions of Ethiopia, with low coverage of healthcare services and recurrent disease outbreaks, floods, and malnutrition emergencies. MSF has been providing medical assistance in the Doolo Zone, Somali Region, since 2007. Following multiple disease outbreaks in 2017, MSF shifted focus to work primarily on early outbreak detection and provision of a timely response. In 2019, MSF established a “Tea Team surveillance team”; this combines health facility data with that from community indicator- and event-based surveillance systems. Data are collected from 32 locations (17 surveillance only and 15 non-permanent mobile clinic sites), as well as alerts from other actors in Doolo Zone. We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of the data generated by these different components. METHODS We used a mixed methods approach. Description of the surveillance system, quantitative analysis of retrospective data between February 2019 and January 2021, and focus group discussions were the main methods used to evaluate usefulness, acceptability, and other surveillance attributes. Quantitative analyses were done using R software (R Core Team, 2014) while qualitative data analysis was performed with NVivo software (QSR International Pty Ltd, Australia). ETHICS Permission to conduct the study was obtained from the Somali Regional Health Bureau. This study was approved by the MSF Ethics Review Board. RESULTS Over 1200 signals were reported to the Tea Team surveillance system over the evaluation period, with the majority being reported via the community event-based surveillance (CEBS) component. There were a total of 31 responses conducted between February 2019 and January 2021. 22 (84.6%) originated from CEBS system signals, one (3.8%) was from the community indicator-based surveillance (CIBS) system, 2 (7.7%) were from health facility indicator-based surveillance (HFIBS), and 6 (23.1%) came from other event-based surveillance systems. Most responses were triggered by population movements, suspected measles, and suspected acute watery diarrhoea. No responses arose from acute jaundice syndrome signals. MSF staff found the “Tea Team surveillance system” to have higher acceptability in non-emergency situations, but indicated lower acceptability during a crisis, due to data processing times and rigidity of the HFIBS online database. The surveillance system has complex data management procedures leading to potential underreporting of signals and difficulties with routine data quality monitoring. Project staff considered the CEBS and CIBS components to be more flexible than HFIBS. The system was sufficiently flexible to integrate with Covid-19 surveillance. CONCLUSION The Tea Team surveillance system is a comprehensive and useful system to detect and respond to public health events in a pastoralist population. Simplification of the surveillance system and greater standardisation of the data management processes will increase the utility of the system. CONFLICTS OF INTEREST None declared

In communities heavily affected by trauma, trauma-informed approaches (TIAs) are essential to minimize unintended consequences and harm associated with receiving clinical, social, and other support services. The visibility of traumatic events continues to increase. In turn, public health teams must build capacity and integrate TIAs into public health research and practice, particularly for communities managing multiple health inequities. Community-engaged approaches have become increasingly common in public health to address health inequity. Community-engaged research (CEnR) is a TIA that public health researchers use to serve traumatized individuals and communities meaningfully and respectfully. CEnR is often intended to address health disparities and inequities, and public health program developers can use similar engagement strategies. Community-engaged public health teams usually include partners from community, research, and other professions, and they often work in minoritized and vulnerable communities. In CEnR and program design, the team can use the principles of TIAs to guide the development and decision-making processes; they can also use feedback during the process to enhance the community benefit of the research and programs being offered. The team can benefit from training to understand and use TIAs to support their work. Finally, community-engaged public health teams can enhance CEnR by building upon the scientific literature about TIAs to extract strategies and practices to extend their impacts on the people they serve and their own organizations.

Indoor air questions in Finland have been constantly featured in the media. There are indoor quality deficiencies, not only in existing as well as in new buildings. The problems of indoor conditions can be divided into those caused by design, implementation and use. At the civil engineering department, University of Oulu, you can now specialize in building health. This is a new orientation option, which can be studied at the University of Oulu only. Arctic Construction Cluster Finland was established to restart the once-abolished civil engineering department. The cluster represents all branches of construction, and supports the civil Engineering department. The team for healthy buildings at the Arctic Cluster cooperates with the university's good indoor air and building health team. This is a position paper, where we introduce the operational priorities of the building cluster and the healthy buildings team, cooperation with the indoor air and building health group at Oulu University and the trends which will affect and change the building branch. There are still shortcomings in solutions to indoor conditions problems, which are caused by several factors. Education and training must be developed. Knowledge in hygrothermal performance of buildings is essential to improve it into interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach. Civil engineers must recognize factors that affect building health. Health care staff then investigate the consequences. Different actors should be brought together better than at present.
