Denne artikkelen er basert på en studie om bruk av munnbind ved kirurgiske inngrep. Bakgrunnen for studien var førsteforfatters observasjoner og undringer over at det ved noen operasjoner bare var operasjonssykepleiere og kirurger som agerte i operasjonsområdet som brukte munnbind. Det var spesielt anestesipersonell som ikke brukte munnbind. For å finne ut om det kunne være historiske forklaringer på at nåtidige munnbindpraktikker ved kirurgiske inngrep er som de er, ble det gjennomført praxeologiske analyser av norske lærebøker i sykepleie fra 1877-2018. Analysene er fundert i Bourdieus teori om praktisk sans og en praxeologisk analysestrategi. Analysene viser at fra 1921 til 1954 har norske lærebøker i sykepleie argumentert for at de som står i operasjonsfeltet bør bruke munnbind. Det var sannsynligvis ikke tilfeldig at argumentasjonen for bruk av munnbind oppstod i 1921, ettersom at spanskesyken tok livet av 13 000-15 000 nordmenn i perioden 1918-1919. Fra 1955 og frem til vår tid har det vært argumentert for at alle som agerer på operasjonsstuen bør bruke munnbind. Men det er forståelig at anestesipersonell kan la være å bruke munnbind selv om de dermed bryter retningslinjene og agerer heterodoxt. Dette ettersom at slikt personell ikke er utsatt for blodsøl fra operasjonspasientene, og det er liten sjanse for at sekret fra deres munn og nese vil havne i pasientens operasjonssår og forårsake infeksjoner. Det kan også være at de bygger sine praktikker på forskning, da det i liten grad finnes studier som viser evidens for at munnbind bruk blant personalet som ikke står i operasjonsfeltet, reduserer de postoperative infeksjonsratene.

Abstract This article investigates the ‘horror of vision’ in regard to staged violence in Dutch theatre plays between c. 1635 and 1665. Three plays in particular are analysed in which the violent act of blinding plays an important role. The theatre serves as a mirror for the onlookers who, through looking at characters that look at violence, learn to critically reflect on how they view theatrical violence themselves. The gaze that is performed on stage could be violent itself, but the horror of looking can also be related to the sensory and mental violence that the representation of extreme violence exerts on the onlooker. The discussed plays often refer to the pain of looking at the pain of others, whereas the viewing pleasure of audiences that would long for horror, is condemned, in contrast to blindness as the true way of (inward) vision.

A theory of grandparent development is described that includes the formulation of assumptions, goals for guiding instruction, curriculum design, and a measurement tool to assess learning needs and evaluate the effects of educational intervention. Cultural considerations are illustrated by a three generational study of African-American ( n = 777), Caucasian ( n = 1086), and Hispanic ( n = 672) subjects who were administered the Grandparent Strengths and Needs Inventory. Perceptions of each generation about the attitudes and behaviors of grandparents were examined with multivariate analysis of variance and post-hoc comparisons to analyze the scores, confirm results, and facilitate interpretation of findings. Results showed significant differences between generations and within cultures. Each generation identified elements of grandparent success as well as issues that deserve consideration in building educational programs.

The dissertation was born in France with Democracy. Barthes, however, did not like the exercise, which he considered too constraining, too rigid, falling within a caricatural hermeneutics. To the art of reasoning, he opposes an “art of effects” which gives pride of place to affect, seduction, pity. But can we do without the truth? As a semiologist, Barthes never ceases to make the world meaningful and to defend a political approach to society. This explains why he cannot and does not want to give up the dissertation completely, preferring to play with the exercise and combine all forms of knowledge.

Resumo: Este artigo procura responder à pergunta se Marx possui de fato um método dialético próprio. A argumentação está dividida em três partes. Na primeira, procura-se mostrar que as críticas de Marx ao método absoluto de Hegel poderiam ser tomadas por este como meras explicações sobre o seu próprio método. Na segunda parte, tecem-se algumas considerações sobre o que é o método dialético de Hegel, a partir das figuras da imediaticidade e da imediaticidade mediada. Na última parte, apresentam-se três exemplos de como Marx pratica, em sua crítica à Economia Política, exatamente aquilo que criticou no método dialético de Hegel.

Multiple trauma can often be recognized by the emergency department based on the location and condition of the patient. The diagnostic focus is on checking vital signs. Blood pressure, EKG and breathing are key factors in determining whether an injured person can be taken to a hospital for treatment. Certain injuries can only be accurately determined in the clinic. An ultrasound examination gives the first findings about injuries to internal organs, including the chest. In addition, computerized tomography of the whole body is performed today. A classic X-ray can also contribute to the diagnosis, but often cannot be done depending on the condition of the patient with multiple trauma. Multiple trauma always means a serious injury, consisting of at least two injuries to the patient. Danger to life can only come from one or more injuries at the same time, depending on their severity.

Plants and humans are mostly water, which makes the answer of this question essential. The article explains that if we have computers with memory, it is because the computers use chips made of crystals, which have memory. Scientists recently found that glass and gels also have memory, which can be explained with the chunks of crystals imbedded in their structure. However, it was found that colloidal solutions and even soap bubbles also have memory, which could only be explained if liquid water has memory. When the ice melts to become liquid water, only 40% of the H-bonds are melted. So, liquid water is different size and shape clusters of ice swimming in liquid water and if the liquid water has retained most of its crystalline structure, it could memorize. The French immunologist Benveniste was the first to claim that the water has memory and he was ridiculed for this. His conclusion was right, but being immunologist he could not explain why the water has memory. The research of Montagnier straightforward showed that even when the entire DNA of HIV virus is filtered out, the water can still bring the infection because the electromagnetic field (NEMF) of the DNA of the HIV-virus is imprinted on the water structure. The present article explains the memory of water, the memory of the acupuncture points, etc.

The letters of the well-known émigré historian and essayist are published. The letters are stored in the Bakhmeteff archive of Russian and East European culture at Columbia University. In the introduction, the publisher shows the assistance rendered to G. Fedotov by the well-known figures of the Russian diaspora in the United States and characterizes the importance of the correspondence for study of how he was looking for his place in the American academic community. The historian hoped to find it due to the invitation to attend the meetings of the Theological Discussion Group. Particular attention is paid to G. Fedotov’s critical understanding of the intellectual heritage of his former colleague, Fr. S. Bulgakov, caused by the need to deliver lectures at Divinity School. The consequences of this were reflected in The Russian Religious Mind, the final work of the historian, in which he criticized pagan hylozoism found in Kievan Christianity, and negatively assessed the Byzantine influence. The text of the letters is presented in accordance with the present-day spelling rules and accompanied with the necessary commentary.

The pandemic that hit the world in 2020 has left unforeseeable consequences for the entire world economy. Bitcoin and gold are currencies whose prices have risen despite the crisis period. The results of the research, using Spearman's correlation coefficient, showed a statistically significant relationship between the movement of the price of bitcoin and the price of gold, which can be the basis for predicting the movement of the price of gold in the future, based on the movement of the price of bitcoin. A significant relationship was found between the movement of the bitcoin price and the increase in the number of users of bitcoin wallets, which clearly indicates an increase in the volume of trade in this currency and a wider representation of this currency. Theoretical research of behavioral economics has confirmed the hypothesis that when the financial system is exposed to a crisis, bitcoin and gold will have the characteristics of a "safe haven asset" which can be explained by the principles of behavioral economics.

This study examines home-based work in the informal field, which is an intense working form of women, in the light of critical feminist theoretical and methodological discussions, through women who break pistachios, which would set the context for local working conditions. Within this framework, reflections of the informal sector on the labor markets both in the world and in Turkey are briefly introduced in conceptual and historical themes. Later, labor-capital contradictions in the informal sector and the most dramatic consequences of this contradiction experienced by women which were overlooked by mainstream economic methods and statistics, will be discussed. In response to this introduction, the processes of informal labor the pistachio-cracking 6 women in Gaziantep went through and how this labor was transformed with flexible employment policies and neo-liberalism have been questioned. In this context, the exploitation of women's labor through competitive capitalism and patriarchal political-cultural practices are exemplified by the informal domestic labor processes of the pistachio-cracking women in Gaziantep. Beside these discussions, interviews have shown that the “invisibility” of women's work, which is considered mundane in the home, has increased. However, despite these negativities, it has been determined that women also meet their vital needs with this capital they have obtained. Finally, the distinctive characteristics of the informal sector, such as poverty and social insecurity, were also encountered in the statements of the interviewed women and it was determined that the combination of capital and patriarchy strengthened the secondary position of women.

Diabetes and hypertension often occur together. Hence they may share some common causes. These causes may be obesity, inflammation, oxidative stress and insulin resistance. Type 2 diabetes may cause hypertension by atherosclerosis. It suggests the importance of keeping an optimal glycaemic profile in general populations. BP screening and monitoring, especially systolic BP, is essential in patients with type 2 diabetes. There are many theories and there is no confirmed mechanisms but, genetic predisposition, insulin resistance, inflammation, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and have been suggested to explain the link between higher hypertension and diabetes. In our study it was found that 51.8 percent had normal blood sugar and 19% are pre diabetic and 29% are diabetic. As the age increases the incidence of prediabetes and diabetes also increases. Incidence of Diabetes is more in males than in females. Similarly, the prediabetes is also more common in males. Among females 10.75% had normal blood sugar and normal BP and among Males only 3.7% had normal blood sugar and normal BP. Females are more in the prediabetes and elevated & Stage I BP and more males are diabetic and hypertensive.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting plays a key role in management control, particularly in light of the increased demand for non-financial reporting after the financial crisis of 2008–2009. This literature review evaluates 47 empirical studies that concentrate on the influence of several board composition variables on the quantity and quality of CSR reporting. The author briefly introduces the research framework that underpins current empirical studies in this field. This is followed by a discussion of the main variables of board composition: (1) committees (audit and CSR committees), (2) board independence, (3) board expertise, (4) CEO duality, (5) board diversity (gender and foreign diversity), (6) board activity, and (7) board size. The author, then, summarizes the key findings, discusses the limitations of the existing research and offers useful recommendations for researchers, firm practice and regulators.
