This research was useful for knowing the personality of the main character in the film. The researchers used the film Lady Bird as the object of research because this film was very interesting and told the story of a teenager who had very strong ambitions. This film was written by Greta Gerwig in 2017. The researcher used the psychoanalytic theory by Sigmund Freud. The study aimed to analyze the psychological conflict between ego, id and super ego trough the attitude and utterances of the main character. The method was qualitative descriptive. In result, researchers found 6 aspects of the id that are directly related to the main character, 2 aspects of the ego and 2 aspects of the superego. Therefore, the researcher concludes that in the main character in this film, she was more controlled by his id, where she was a form of personality that a person carried when she was born. The Id on Ladybird showed how she fulfilled a wish she deserved and felt that she enjoyed it more without realizing it.

Abstract This article demonstrates that the military ideas of King Frederick the Great of Prussia up to the Seven Years War (1756–1763) were primarily inspired by France, and particularly by the towering figure of King Louis XIV. It examines the intellectual inspirations for Frederick’s military ideas, showing that French military influence reflected the strength of French cultural influence in the long eighteenth century and the importance of Louis XIV as a model for monarchical self-representation. Frederick’s famous personal command of his armies reflected the Enlightenment concept of the ‘great man’ (grand homme), but Frederick thereby sought primarily to outdo the Sun King, whom Voltaire had criticized for merely accompanying his armies while his generals won battles for him. The example of Frederick thus demonstrates that not only rulers but also enlightened philosophers often looked backwards toward older monarchical examples. Frederick sought to create his own ‘Age of Louis XIV’ in the military sphere by imitating the great French generals of the Sun King. Frederick’s famous outflanking manoeuvres followed the example of famous French generals, reflecting the practice of the more mobile armies of the mid-seventeenth century. Frederick used French practice to justify his attacks with the bayonet, and his ‘short and lively’ wars reflected French strategic traditions. The evidence of French influence on Frederick seriously challenges concepts of a ‘German Way of War’, and indeed of supposed national ‘ways of war’ in general, emphasizing the need for a transnational approach to the history of military thought.

Abstract The great gerbil (Rhombomys opimus) is a social rodent living in permanent, complex burrow systems distributed throughout Central Asia, where it serves as the main host of several important vector-borne infectious pathogens including the well-known plague bacterium (Yersinia pestis). Here, we present a continuous annotated genome assembly of the great gerbil, covering over 96% of the estimated 2.47-Gb genome. Taking advantage of the recent genome assemblies of the sand rat (Psammomys obesus) and the Mongolian gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus), comparative immunogenomic analyses reveal shared gene losses within TLR gene families (i.e., TLR8, TLR10, and the entire TLR11-subfamily) for Gerbillinae, accompanied with signs of diversifying selection of TLR7 and TLR9. Most notably, we find a great gerbil-specific duplication of the MHCII DRB locus. In silico analyses suggest that the duplicated gene provides high peptide binding affinity for Yersiniae epitopes as well as Leishmania and Leptospira epitopes, putatively leading to increased capability to withstand infections by these pathogens. Our study demonstrates the power of whole-genome sequencing combined with comparative genomic analyses to gain deeper insight into the immunogenomic landscape of the great gerbil and its close relatives.

The susceptibility of the great gerbil to the causative agent of plague is genetically determined. However, there is not enough information on the involved genes and their effect on this feature in the literature. Although the sensitivity of gerbils to plague microbe may depend on many genes, this feature can be described using a monogenic model of inheritance with one gene. In addition to the genetic component, other modifying factors of biotic and abiotic nature may influence the sensitivity of a great gerbil to infection. The aim of the work was to evaluate the role of genetic and modifying factors in the variation of the sensitivity of the great gerbil to the causative agent of plague. For this, a one-factor analysis of variance was used. The strength of the effect of the intensity of plague epizootics on sensitivity was calculated by the method of Plokhinsky. As a result, it was found that approximately 87 ± 3.9 % of the total variation of the sensitivity sign is due to its genetic component and about 13 % to the share of other factors affecting the characteristic (modifying factors). The conclusion is made that while in studies on the sensitivity of rodents the effect on regulation of the immune response (specific for specific antigens) has not been demonstrated, it is necessary to talk about the general infectious sensitivity of rodents to infections, for example, the causative agent of plague.

Abstract In 1937, to his great dismay, Nazi ethnologist Otto Reche discovered that his daughter’s suitor came from a family ‘hereditarily burdened’ with mental diseases. A strong proponent of eugenics, Reche was determined to thwart the looming wedding. He turned to the highest authority on such matters, genetic-psychiatrist Ernst Rüdin, and asked him to furnish the evidence that the planned marriage was biologically undesirable. Reche’s daughter, however, was resolute in her choice, and the familial dispute soon escalated to involve the highest echelons of the Nazi state. A detailed micro-historical reconstruction of the affair exposes the way in which racial-hygienic doctrine, class resentment, inter-generational conflict and personal animosity became interwoven in the daily lives—and loves—of Germans under the Nazi regime.

The main host of a number of especially dangerous zoonotic infections in the arid zones of Kazakhstan, covering an area of about 1.1 million km2, is the great gerbil (Rhombomys opimus). In the process of formation in natural foci of the parasitic triad (pathogen-host-vector, mutual adaptation of all its members to environmental conditions and their coevolution occurs. The article presents the results of a study of the intraspecific, population heterogeneity of ecological-biological and some genomic features of the great gerbil in three foci of zoonotic Infections: Pribalkash, Betpakdala and Predustyurt. The features of climate, soil and vegetation cover, tendencies of their perennial and seasonal changes were studied. Differences in climatic conditions and characteristics of vegetation between the 3 foci were revealed at a rather high degree of synchronization of the trend of changes in air temperature and precipitation. Analysis of the cytB gene fragment from 88 individuals from three autonomous plague foci identified 19 haplotypes that form three haplogroups, one of which is represented by individuals from the populations of two autonomous plague foci Populations of great gerbils from Kazakhstan and China are included in the same cluster and are genetically distant from the populations of Iran. Geographic isolation, significant differences in climatic, landscape, and forage conditions, microevolutionary changes in the genomic status determined the heterogeneity of three described populations of the great gerbil. A growing negative impact on the population of the great gerbil and the epizootic status of natural foci of climate warming and an increasing anthropogenic pressure, primarily in the form of overgrazing, on natural phytocenoses was noted.

It is commonly known that under gerbil population depression habitable colonies are preserved as groups with varying number of colonies. In this connection, objectives of the study have turned out to be determination of minimum threshold number as regards habitable colonies where plague microbe circulation takes place. With the help of the computer model for plague epizootic process development determined is the fact that plague epizooty can last for a long while within the group of 25 habitable great gerbil colonies under certain conditions. This measure is reasonably close to the known factual evidence concerning a number and distribution of colonies at the time of major population depression. Therewith, one can conclude that plague microbe circulation can take place even in the course of major great gerbil population depression.

Great gerbil (Rhombomys opimus Lichtenstein, 1823) is distributed in Central Asia and some parts of the Middle East. It is widely found in central and northeast parts of Iran with two distinct genetic lineages: R. o. sodalis in the northern slopes of the Elburz Mountains and R. o. sargadensis in the southern slopes. This large rodent acts as the main host of natural focal diseases. No study has surveyed the ecological niche of the lineages and how their distribution might be influenced by different climatic variables. To examine the distribution patterns of this murid rodent, we aimed to determine the habitat preferences and effects of environmental variables on the ecological niche. Using a species distribution approach for modeling of regional niche specialization, suitable habitats predicted for R. o. sodalis were mainly located in Golestan province in northern Iran, along the northern slope of Elburz, while R. o. sargadensis, showed great potential distribution along the southern slope of Elburz and around the Kavir Desert and the Lut Desert. Despite the widest potential distribution of R. o. sargadensis from northeast to northwest and through Central Iran, the geographic range of R. o. sodalis was smaller and mostly confined to Golestan province. The results support the presence of the two genetic lineages of Rhombomys in Iran and confirm that there is no significant niche overlap between the two subspecies. Furthermore, it provided several perspectives for future taxonomic studies and prevention hygiene programs for public health.

The article describes the additional evolutionary factors, apart from natural selection, which can influence the genetic structure of the populations of the main carriers of the plague microbe – the great gerbil. The influence of genetic drift on random fluctuation of alleles is considered. With the help of a stochastic matrix, on the example of the family group of gerbils consisting of four individuals, the probabilities of the transition of allele frequencies from parents to offspring are calculated. Based on the previously calculated size of the neighborhood in gerbils, it is concluded that any large population of great gerbils can be considered as small in terms of deviation of gene frequencies. In such small groups – parcels – the drift of genes will be of great importance. In addition, the effect of the gene flow on the genetic structure of the gerbil population on the example of the simplest population model “continent-island” is considered. The dynamics of changes in allelic frequencies for 100 generations has been calculated. It is shown that the allele frequency during the 20-30 generations changes at the maximum rate, and then slows as the equilibrium is approached. It is concluded that different populations of gerbils should be considered as separate historically formed structures, with different sequence of influence of external environmental factors on them.

AbstractRodentolepis nana (syn. Hymenolepis nana) is a cyclophyllidean zoonotic enteric parasite with worldwide distribution. In humans, it is more prevalent in children, especially in temperate zones. A morphologically similar species of R. nana occurs in different rodents, including gerbils. In the present study molecular characterization of five isolates of R. nana from Rhombomys opimus in the Golestan Province (n= 2) and Razavi Khorasan Province (n= 3), both in north-eastern Iran, were analysed. After DNA extraction, the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) region of the R. nana isolates was amplified and sequenced, and genetic variation was analysed. Accordingly, two isolates from the Razavi Khorasan Province showed ITS2 signatures that differed from the isolates from the Golestan Province. The third isolate from Razavi Khorasan did not reveal these specific signatures, but exhibited sparse nucleotide polymorphisms in the ITS2 sequence. The ITS gene is conserved, and variation in this fragment could be an interesting subject for further inspection of existing variation in the genome of R. nana, among different domestic and wildlife host species and from different areas.

Research and development related to the processing of recycled materials has grown progressively in recent times, as scientists endeavour to integrate sustainability criteria, depletion of natural resources, reducing the energy of technological processes involving extraction and processing of raw materials, etc. When it comes to processing slate, industries have to pass over several steps ranging from the extraction of rock blocks until the final products consisting of plates, leaving behind a considerable amount of waste in the form of a mud composed mainly of water, lubricants and crushed rock. This waste with no defined destination accumulates in yards, reservoirs and streams, affecting the environment. Slate powder has great prospects for recovery, recycling and further applications once it has chemical composition and components similar to raw materials used in ceramic and building construction industries. Therefore, a complete characterization of this powder is important and here we present some results of XRD, SEM, EDS, G3 morphology and thermal analysis of slate powder samples from the southeastern state of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

The aim of the study was to clarify the boundaries of the Central Asian natural plague focus of Kazakhstan and the modern boundaries of the areal of the great gerbil (Rhombomys opimus) in order to improve epizootiological monitoring and increase the effectiveness of preventive (anti-epidemic) measures.Materials and methods. Data from the epizootiological monitoring of the great gerbil populations in 14 autonomous foci of the Central Asian desert natural plague focus in the Republic of Kazakhstan between 2010 and 2020 were used for the analysis. An epizootiologic survey of an area of 875350 km2 was carried out. When processing the data, epidemiological, epizootiological, statistical research methods, as well as GIS technologies were used. Results and discussion. An increase in the total area of the Central Asian desert natural plague focus of the Republic of Kazakhstan by 79710 km2 (9.98 %) has been established for the period of 1990–2020. It is noted that the change in the area of plague-enzootic territory was a consequence of the ever changing areal of the main carrier of plague pathogen – the great gerbil – under the influence of climatic and anthropogenic factors. The most significant changes were found in the southeastern part of the plague-enzootic territory, including those for the Betpakdala (50 %), Balkhash (34.3 %), Taukum (13.3 %) and Mojynkum (0.32 %) autonomous foci. The area of the Aryskum-Dariyalyktakyr autonomous focus decreased by 2100 km2 (4 %). In 2000–2002, new Alakol’sky and Ili intermountain autonomous foci with a total area of 26759 km2 were discovered. It is shown that due to the regression of the Aral Sea, the areal of the great girbil expanded and the area of the North Aral and Kyzylkum natural plague foci increased by 10500 km2 (29.2 %) and 560 km2 (0.4%), respectively. The areas of the Aral-Karakum and UralEmba desert autonomous foci, on the contrary, decreased by 2000 km2 (2.6 %) and 12300 km2 (17.6 %), respectively. Passportization and landscape-epizootiologic zoning of the territory of the Central Asian desert natural plague focus of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been completed.

The Gering Agung Pararem or a great agreement on pandemic protection is one of the public policies based on the Balinese Village law to control the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. This Pararem is regulated to manage and control the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic by utilising the concept of duality known as sekala (material) and niskala (immaterial). This research aims to discover the duality application in the Gering Agung Pararem from a public policy perspective in Bali. With exploratory descriptive qualitative approach, this study reveals that the involvement of duality concept in the Gering Agung Pararem has a crucial impact on preventing the Covid-19 spreads in Bali. In addition, the social, cultural, and religious systems influence the Balinese people to be very obedient towards the existing village policies. This study contributes to society by developing alternative solutions for preventing Covid-19 spreads in Bali.

AbstractPersistence of the embryonic “fifth aortic arch” in postnatal life is a rare, enigmatic – and at times controversial – condition, with variable anatomical forms and physiological consequences. First described in humans over 40 years ago by Van Praagh, the condition was labelled the “great pretender” by Gerlis 25 years later, because of its apparent propensity to mimic anatomically similar structures. Despite many subsequent case reports citing the condition, the true developmental origin of these structures remains unresolved, and has been the subject of debate among embryologists for more than a century. A persistent fifth aortic arch has been defined as an extrapericardial structure, arising from the ascending aorta opposite or proximal to the brachiocephalic artery, and terminating in the dorsal aorta or pulmonary arteries via a persistently patent arterial duct. This description may therefore encompass various anatomical forms, such as a unilateral double-lumen aortic arch, an unrestrictive aortopulmonary shunt, or a critical vascular channel for either the systemic or pulmonary circulation. The physiological properties of these vessels, such as their response to prostaglandins, may also be unpredictable. In this article, we demonstrate a number of cases that fulfil the contemporary definition of “persistent fifth aortic arch” while acknowledging the embryological controversies associated with this term. We also outline the key diagnostic features, particularly with respect to the use of new cross-sectional imaging techniques.

(1) Onset of growth during germination of the isolated wheat embryo is allied with the emergence of a protein we have called germin. This study was undertaken to learn if germin is present and synthesized in the root, stem, and leaf during postgerminative growth of the wheat seedling.(2) Seedlings were grown from mature wheat grains on water-soaked filter paper and organs excised at various times were pulse labeled with [35S]methionine. Germin is synthesized in all organs at all times between 1.5 and 7 days.(3) During early seedling development (1.5 days), the fraction of [35S]methionine incorporated into germin, relative to other proteins, is much greater in the case of stem than other organs, either in vivo or when cell-free protein synthesis is directed by bulk RNA from different organs.(4) During late seedling development (4–7 days), when root growth is greater than stem growth, total isotope incorporation into germin is much greater in roots than stem.(5) Quasi-quantitative estimates of germin in pepsin-treated soluble fractions of homogenates were made by visual comparison of dye binding when gels were stained by Coomassie blue. The quantity of germin (ca. 1 mg/100 g) keeps pace with growth in spite of a 100-fold increase in fresh weight during transformation of the germinating embryo into a 7-day seedling.(6) During early seedling growth (1.5 days), germin is concentrated in the stem, but later (7 days), after extensive growth of the root but not the stem, the amount of germin in the root is about 1/2 and in the leaf is about 1/10 as great as in stem, on a fresh-weight basis, but more nearly equal on a per-organ basis owing to high mass proportions of the leaf and root relative to stem.(7) The dye-staining technique following pepsin treatment of soluble proteins has been used to detect germin in the stems of other cereal (rye, barley, oat) seedlings (3–8 days).

Hibiscus L. is one of the largest genera of Malvaceae, Southeast Brazil has six endemic species of 14 native species, mainly distributed in cerrado. These Hibiscus are hairy shrubs, with showy flowers of pink corolla, dark base, 5-toothed staminal tube apex, loculicidal capsule of 5 cells. The species inhabit wet ecosystems of the atlantic rainforest and cerrado. After the last study of Hibiscus taxonomy evidencing four endemic species from Minas Gerais state, showed to have the largest endemism center of Hibiscus in Brazil, therefore, using IUCN classification methodology, we indicated H. hilarianus and H. multiformis as vulnerable, H. itirapinensis as endangered and H. mariae as critically endangered. The species are represented by small isolated populations distributed at the mountains and plateaus between Espinhaço mountain range and Planalto Paulista, considered a region with great endemic biodiversity. According to the previously analysis, it is recommended specific studies with techniques and appropriate methodology to research the development and evolutionary characteristics of hibiscus species in Minas Gerais state.

ABSTRACT: Horses are highly susceptible to parasitism. Helminth infections cause great harm to the animals and to their breeders. This study aimed at evaluating socioeconomic, cultural and management factors associated with the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminths of horses. A total of 40 farmas the Mangalarga Marchador horse breed were visited in southern Minas Gerais, Brazil, where interviews were conducted. Horse feces were collected on the farms and coproparasitological laboratory tests were conducted to quantify the infection and to identify parasites. Data were tabulated in Epidata and analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 software. A great similarity between breeds was observed, specifically in their profiles, as well as in their animal management techniques and in their parasite control habits. The cyathostome was the most prevalent helminth, followed by Oxyuris and large strongyles. The farms which prioritize only equine production are less likely to have animals with massive helminth infection.
