With development of economy, all industries have undergone earthshaking changes. Various new technologies are starting to be employed in all aspects of life, and graphic design is no exception. The use of computer graphics and image processing technologies in graphic design can substantially improve design efficiency and make graphic design job more convenient to develop. The requirements for the quality of graphic design are higher. Quality inspection has become a necessary step in the production process, in which the detection of graphic design defects is an indispensable and important link. The traditional graphic design defect detection adopts the method of manual visual inspection, which has the disadvantages of poor stability, long consumption time, and high labor cost. As an efficient computer graphics and image processing technology, convolutional neural network has received extensive attention in graphic design defect detection because of its advantages of high speed, efficiency, and high degree of automation. Taking agricultural product packaging as an example, this paper studies application technology for graphic design defect detection with convolutional neural network (CNN). The main contents are as follows: construct the original YOLOv3 network model, input the graphic design images of agricultural product packaging into the network model in batches according to the computing power of the hardware equipment, train the YOLOv3 network, and deeply study and analyze the experimental results. The related improvement techniques are then given, based on the characteristics of agricultural product packaging design faults. The backbone network, multiscale feature map, a priori frame, and activation function of YOLOv3 are improved, and then performance of the improved model is verified by experiments.

With the advent of the Internet, particularly the World Wide Web, the use and demand for online maps has grown very rapidly. Large scale topographic maps from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) at a scale of 1:24,000 have been traditionally distributed in paper form. To make these maps available to a larger number of people, rasterized versions are now available from various sources. Instead of the common raster format presentation, the solution presented here is based on a vector approach using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), a relatively new vector format describing vector graphics for the Web. SVG provides many advantages compared to the use of a raster-based presentation, such as the quality of the graphical representation, maintenance, actualization, interactivity, and extensibility through other Web programming languages. The purpose of this research is to propose an optimal and logical structure for a SVG document with a minimal file size that would be universally applicable to all USGS large scale topographic maps while maintaining the graphic quality at a comparable level with maps presented on paper. The study shows that SVG is a promising technology for delivering high quality, fully-vector topographic maps via the Internet, both in terms of graphic quality and interactivity.

It is noted that geometric and graphical disciplines traditionally cause difficulties in studying elementary students. It is pointed out that the requirements for the quality of education and ensuring academic performance are mutually inverse and are in conflict with the limited number of teaching hours, which has been steadily declining for many years. Data are given on the number of hours allocated for the study of geometric and graphic disciplines in Russian universities. The main reasons for the problems of geometric and graphic training of students are listed. The first reason is an attempt to give knowledge and skills from three different sections - mathematics (descriptive geometry), computer science (computer graphics) and engineering (engineering graphics) in conditions of shortage of classroom hours. Provides information about the content of classical textbooks of descriptive geometry, engineering graphics. The second reason is the complexity of the development of spatial thinking. It is noted that information technologies that facilitate the understanding of images do not solve the problem of the development of spatial thinking. Information is given on the heterogeneity of students in terms of the psychophysiological features of spatial thinking in general and in terms of various types of mathematical thinking. The third reason is the poor initial preparation of students. Features and reasons are indicated. The main ways of increasing the motivation of students to study geometric and graphic disciplines are given. The fourth reason is the unpreparedness of students for independent work. Reasons are given. The main ways of increasing the efficiency of students' independent work are given. The shortcomings of automatic control in the form of testing and automatic verification of solutions of graphic tasks are considered in detail. The fifth reason is the difference in the requirements for geometric and graphic training for different educational areas, specialties and profiles. The presence in the geometric-graphical cycle of disciplines of an invariant (common for different specialties and training profiles) core and subject settings is noted. The sixth reason is the high requirements for lecturers of geometric and graphic disciplines. The problem of training lecturing staff of higher education in the field of geometric and graphic education is noted. Conclusions are made about the need to create a methodological training system that takes into account and solves these problems.

Perspective geometry is a fundamental, challenging, and captivating subject within the engineering bachelor's degree program. It holds significant importance in developing graphic skills, analytical abilities, sketching proficiency, and comprehension of drawings. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in organizing the architectural components of a bachelor's thesis. However, the teaching and learning of perspective geometry often reveal various difficulties and shortcomings. Moreover, one of the various systems of symbols and languages created by global cultures is the graphical language, which is an exceptional and unparalleled language for understanding scientific and technical information. This language is considered the oldest international language. Every visual piece of information in various processes of human life has been formed through the graphical language, which is composed of various geometric shapes. In this research, data has been gathered from the perspectives of first-year students from the 2013 batch regarding the difficulties encountered in perspective geometry. A questionnaire was distributed to collect their opinions, and three graphical tasks with different levels of complexity were given to the students. The results obtained from this study indicate that employing suitable teaching methods and providing adequate resources can alleviate most of the learning difficulties associated with graphic skills. Instructors also play a pivotal role in resolving learning obstacles. Therefore, efforts should be made to enhance the quality of teaching graphic subjects by updating the content and curriculum of educational programs and improving teaching methods through the use of technology. In higher education institutions, conditions for fostering students' professional knowledge, enhancing their ability to draw maps and create technical documents can be facilitated through computer graphics education. Updating the teaching methods plays a crucial role in improving the quality of graphic education. The mentioned factors provide a suitable environment for the growth of graphic knowledge and the implementation of projects related to professional subjects.

These give rise to theoretical graphic quality costs models and illustrate the relationship between the quality costs categories, as well as the relationship between the quality costs categories and the total quality costs and the quality level. The paper comparatively analyzes the underlying assumptions, existing knowledge, and principles characteristic of each approach. This contributes to the shaping of the quality costs categories curves and the overall quality cost curve in the theoretical models. The conducted analysis in the paper will enable forecasting the trend of development of theoretical graphic models and identification of potential stakeholders that contribute to changes in the structure and the behavior of the quality costs categories, and thus the behavior of the overall quality costs.

X-ray ghost imaging is a low-dose, non-localized imaging method, which is of great significance in medical diagnosis and biological imaging. In crystal diffraction based X-ray ghost imaging, the blurring patterns in the diffracted beam, caused by the crystal vibration, can result in a reduction in the contrast and spatial resolution of the reconstructed imaged by ensemble average. In the paper, we systematically analyze the influence of the blurring degree of the speckle patterns from the diffracted beam on the normalized second-order intensity correlation function <inline-formula><tex-math id="M9">\begin{document}$ {g}^{\left(2\right)} $\end{document}</tex-math><alternatives><graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="7-20211978_M9.jpg"/><graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="7-20211978_M9.png"/></alternatives></inline-formula> numerically and theoretically. Graphic novel is one of many communication mediums with a combination of visual and verbal that mutually reinforces one another. This work remains a novel but uses the style of storytelling like a comic, using many illustrations. Graphic novels tell their stories from the beginning to the end, therefore graphic novels tend to be longer than comics. The content or quality of the story is different; graphic novel features a story with a more detailed content so that reading it requires serious concentration to think and understand what the creator is trying to convey. The graphic novel of Wali Songo's da'wah story, created by Gerdi Wirata Kusuma in 2015, presents nine Wali Songo stories, which are then selected into two stories to be studied, namely Sunan Kudus and Sunan Kalijaga. The graphic novel discusses the brief history of Wali Songo's life, including Wali Songo's propagation method in spreading the teachings of Islam. This research uses qualitative content analysis method, with Scott McCloud's comic theory, namely using comic element in the forms of image selection, selection of flow, and choices of words, moments, and frames. This identification is divided into two aspects; visual and verbal. Visual in the form of sequences of images, point of view, and graphics. Verbal in the form of narrative text that resides in column panels or word bubbles. The result of this research indicates that visual and verbal use are interrelated, such as the use of shots related to narration, the use of narration to mention information that can not be conveyed visually or visual expressions that can not be described verbally. This visual and verbal combination that mutually reinforces one another shows that this graphic novel is able to show the story of the history of Wali Songo's method in spreading teachings of Islam through assimilation of education and cultural arts with symbolic visual observations. The graphic novel of Wali Songo's da'wah story tries to show its history visually and verbally that is easy to understand and is able to become a part of medium of education.

Abstract To solve the problem that the quality of spatial data matching is difficult to evaluate, this paper proposes a method of matching quality evaluation based on grey correlation machine learning analysis, it’s a method that takes settlement data for example and utilizes the weight of matching index. The method can be performed through the following steps: first, measure the location, area, orientation delta of the settlement entity, and analyzes its grey correlation relationship, then the paper gets the weight of each kind of graphic data delta; second, calculate the graphic data delta of identical entity in original matching data to judge whether the matching relationship is correct. Experiments illustrate that the method is more feasible and practical, for it can measure the graphic data delta and weight effectively and practically and detect the mistakes of original matching data.

Using the expression proposed earlier, the activity of participation of the departments of graphic disciplines in the conference "Problems of Engineering Geometry" and the seminar "Geometry and Graphics", held in 2021, was determined. The comparison of the number of participants and reports of the conference and seminar in 2021 with the number of participants and reports is given and analyzed International Internet conferences "Quality of graphic training" at the Perm National Research Polytechnic University. The results of the All-Russian Seminars "Geometry and Graphics" and the All-Russian Conferences "Problems of Engineering Geometry" of the last two years are compared with each other. In order to compare conferences and seminars quantitatively, not qualitatively, a relationship has been proposed. The content of the reports of the participants of the conference and the seminar is briefly considered. Conclusions are drawn: 1) in 2021, in terms of the success of the seminar "Geometry and Graphics" and the conference "Problems of Engineering Geometry", we managed to move forward - the success rate increased; 2) judging by the number of reports, scientific work on the profile of the department is carried out in a small number of departments. This is due to shortcomings in the staffing of departments of graphic disciplines by teachers. One of them is a lack of understanding that the winners or participants of All-Russian and regional Olympiads who have undergone appropriate training should work as teachers.

In the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years, in Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov a two-year experiment for architecture students on determination variances in different approaches to teaching methods for geometric education was conducted. The experiment was caused by the fact that many teachers believe that if there are computers in the Institute, it is necessary to use graphic programs as soon as possible – immediately introduce students to work on the computer even without allocating hours for this. No one wants to prevent implementation of computers, but we must not forget some nuances related to high technology. As in any case connected with complex hardware unknown for future users, here at the University, at the beginning it is also necessary to teach students how to work with the graphics program itself, and only then allow them perform geometric problems. You can give such an example: put an untrained person at the control panel of interceptor missiles and force him to shoot down a border trespasser in combat conditions. They will notify us that we are engaged in voluntarism. However to put an untrained student at a computer and forcing him to solve a purely geometric problem immediately is not voluntarism. Is it? The experiment had showed that a student, even if he knows how to solve a particular problem, is not ready at all to perform it immediately on a computer in a graphic software. He begin to lose a lot of time getting familiar with the program and only after obtaining at least a minimum of knowledge about working with this program becomes ready to start the task.

This article examines the experience of graphic training of students of a transport university in the conditions of distance learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by the example of studying the discipline "Descriptive geometry and computer graphics". The use of the BlackBoard electronic educational environment and the teaching and methodological developments of the department staff is shown both as a learning medium for students, including independent work, and as a means of teaching for the teaching staff. Not only the remote format of classes is considered, but also the so-called mixed format, when in-person laboratory or practical classes are held only in small groups, and streaming lectures are conducted with the use of an electronic educational environment. After the end of the pandemic, the mixed format is used in many educational organizations continuously or occasionally due to the withdrawal of a separate group to quarantine. Within the framework of the article, a comparative analysis was carried out, reflecting data on the quality of graphic training among students who studied before, during and after the pandemic, using the example of samples from among the students of the 2019 – 2022 sets. The results of the comparative analysis show that there were no significant fluctuations in one direction or another. This allows us to conclude that the measures taken to organize the educational process in the remote format of classes have helped to preserve the quality of graphic training of students. Recommendations on the organization of graphic training of students are given, which can be used by geometry teachers both in the field of higher education and secondary special education, after returning to the usual conditions of the educational process.

The article examines the problems that students face when studying graphic disciplines. At present, the task of further improving the quality of professional training of students has been set as the most important task for higher and secondary specialized institutions. This involves broad-based training of future specialists and the complex nature of mastering modern theoretical and applied knowledge, the ability to apply the knowledge gained in practice, possession of the necessary skills in a related field. A specialist with a higher education, but without knowledge and skills to receive and process graphic information, may turn out to be incompetent in professional activities. The preparedness of students for graphic activity is determined by the complex of knowledge acquired by them in the learning process, skills of reproductive and creative activity, which in the future determine their successful professional activity. A future engineer must have a high level of general and technical intelligence, well-developed spatial thinking, and have a high level of theoretical knowledge in the field of professional activity. In the system of training specialists for engineering specialties, one of the main places is occupied by the academic disciplines «Engineering Graphics» and «Descriptive Geometry». They contribute to the development of the future engineer of spatial representation, logical and constructive thinking, the ability to analyze and synthesize. Well-developed spatial awareness and imagination are prerequisites for successful learning in many academic disciplines. And the disciplines «Descriptive geometry» and «Engineering graphics» by their content make high demands on the level of development of spatial representations. This article reveals the reasons for the weak development of spatial representations among first-year students of universities. It is proposed to use the developed approach, including tasks, methods and system of exercises, tasks and tests, as one of the ways to successfully develop spatial representations in the study of graphic disciplines. Each group of exercises of this system is aimed at the conscious and active work of students and solves a specific problem arising from the theoretical foundations of the development of spatial representations.

Twenty-four real spectra were strategically structured to have systematic variation in average fidelity (IES Rf = 65, 75, 85, 95), average gamut (IES Rg = 80, 90, 100, 110, 120) and gamut shape (nominally saturating or desaturating red colour evaluation samples), at 3500 K. For each spectrum, 20 participants rated a set of objects along continuous scales of naturalness, preference, vividness and skin preference. Most of the top rated spectra, along all four scales, had average gamut greater than or equal to 100 (IES Rg ≥ 100) and did not desaturate red hues (IES Rcs,h16 ≥ 0%). Best fit models illustrate that average fidelity (i.e. IES Rf) and a proxy for red saturation (i.e. IES Rcs,h16, Rcs,h1) are salient derived measures. The results illustrate that a two-metric system of colour rendition, comprised of average metrics for fidelity and gamut, cannot fully describe colour quality and underscore the importance of a colour rendering graphic (i.e. IES Colour Vector Graphic). We propose and illustrate the utility of quantifying the shape of the IES TM-30-15 Color Vector Graphic with a best-fit ellipse.

The connection between artificial intelligence (AI) and graphic design is close and increasingly significant in the world of technology and creativity. Graphic design involves the use of various elements, such as images, text, and color, to create visual communication. This process is often slow and laborious. Artificial intelligence can be useful to automate these processes and improve the efficiency of design work. Artificial intelligence in the modern era is a powerful weapon for creating new graphic elements, improving the quality of designs and analyzing user behavior. In the future, it is expected that these capabilities will develop and new ways to use artificial intelligence in graphic design will appear, but one should not forget the dangers that this spanless new tool hides.
