We consider a class of conv olution operator denoted ϕα W obtained by convolution with a generalized function expressible in terms of the Bessel function on first kind γ J with argument the distribution ( ) P ± i0 . We study some elementary properties of the operator ϕα W like the semigroup property ϕ = ϕ α β α+β W W W ; and ( +m2 ) α α−2 W ϕ = W for α > 2 where ( +m2 ) is the Klein-Gordon ultrahyperbolic operator. In this work, we define the ultrahyperbolic Klein-Gordon operator of order α on the function f by T α ( f ) = W α ∗ f , where α ∈ C , W α is the ultrahyperbolic Klein-Gordon kernel, the symbol ∗ denotes the convolution, and f ∈ S , S is the Schwartz space of functions. Our purpose of this work is to study the convolution of W α and obtain the operator L α = T α − 1 such that if T α ( f ) = φ , then L α φ = f .

Tucker, Wallace E. (Wallace Edward). „The Solo Tenor Trombone Works of Gordon Jacob: A Lecture Recital, Together with Three Recitals of Selected Works by L. Bassett, W. Hartley, B. Blacher, E. Bloch, D. White, F. David, G. Wagenseil, J. Casterede, L. Larson, and Others“. Thesis, North Texas State University, 1987. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc330731/.

Annotation:
The three recitals consisted of performances of original eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth century solo works for trombone with the exception of Lyric Suite for Euphonium and Piano by Donald White, Divertimento for Trumpet, Trombone and Piano by Boris Blacher, and Dialogue and Dance for Trombone and Tuba by Newel Kay Brown. The premiere performance of Straight As An Arrow for B-flat-F Trombone and Prepared Tape by Ronn Cox and Dean Crocker was also included. After presenting a brief biography and discussing Gordon Jacob's (1895-1984) stylistic influences, the lecture continues with a Tonal, Motivic and Formal analysis of his three works for solo tenor trombone: Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra, Concertino for Trombone and Wind Orchestra, and the Trombone Sonata. Tonality, modality, polymodality and free association of pitches are elements that are present at one time or another in these compositions. Jacob's inclination for using the folk song style is evident in his writing, especially in the slow movements. Introductions, transition areas, and secondary themes, with tonally ambiguous harmonies and instrumental concepts of melodies, create a tension that is released by the return to tonality in the areas that follow. Treatment of rhythmic and melodic motives helps produce the special quality found in Gordon Jacob's compositions. Over half the themes in the works being investigated are built around motivic development. Neoclassicism results from the use of forms rooted in earlier centuries, but the choice of key centers gives these forms a new life. Jacob's composition of absolute music, as well as his use of the older compositional techniques of parallel harmonies and slow introductions, reflect neoclassical practices. The performance of Jacob's pieces is facilitated by his use of musical materials idiomatic to the instrument.

Annotation:
The purpose of this study was to understand how early adolescents talk about cross-racial and cross-ethnic friendships. Gordon Allport's intergroup contact theory provided the framework for studying the elements needed for inter-racial and inter-ethnic friendship formation. Qualitative data were drawn from four separately recorded peer group conversations. Participants (n=18) were recruited from Parrish Middle School in Salem, Oregon. Patterns that emerged from the data were sorted, categorized and identified according to the tenets of intergroup contact theory or extensions of intergroup contact theory. Analysis also looked at the use of metaphors and storytelling among adolescents. Results showed that while intergroup contact theory tenets of interdependence and common goals can foster cross-ethnic and cross-racial friendships, most students form these friendships through friendship chaining and common interests. Dual racial identity and peer group influence can also be positive factors in cross-racial and cross-ethnic friendship development. Further, storytelling examples by adolescents showed similar techniques to those used by adults. Overall the results from this study support intergroup contact theory as continuing to be a useful conceptual framework for encouraging cross-group relations.

In BS 7448, Part 2, the stress intensity factor, J-integral and crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) equations developed for evaluation of fracture toughness of a homogeneous material using experimentally measured quantities, such as load-load line displacement, are applied to SE(B) specimens with yield-strength-mismatched welds. The accuracy of this procedure was studied by Gordon and Wang using finite element analysis (FEA). Recently, the so-called “η factor” method for J-integral evaluation of SE(T) specimens with weld-center-line-cracked and yield-strength-mismatched welds was studied by Ruggieri using detailed FEA calculations and the load separation method proposed by Paris et al. For application to strain-based design of pipelines, CANMET has developed equations to evaluate J-integral and CTOD resistance curves for clamped SE(T) specimens of homogeneous materials using experimentally measured load and crack-mouth-opening displacement (CMOD) in a single-specimen procedure similar to that in ASTM E1820. In the present study, the accuracy of using these equations for J-integral evaluation of clamped SE(T) specimens with weld-center-line-cracked and strength-mismatched welds was studied. It was found that the errors in J and CTOD using the equations developed for SE(T) specimens of homogenous materials for these strength-mismatched welds are similar to those for SE(B) specimens with the same weld geometry and mismatch level as reported by Gordon and Wang. It was also found that using the higher of the strength of base and weld metals σY (= (σYS+σTS)/2), (i.e. (σY)w for overmatching and (σY)B for undermatching) in converting J to CTOD gives reasonable and conservative CTOD evaluations for specimens with weld-center-line-cracked and yield-strength-mismatched welds.

The study of the properties of nonlinear optics (ONL) has been highlighted as a line of research of great importance for the nanotechnology, and the magnitude of the first hyperpolarizability (ꞵ) is strongly related to properties of interest for this area. Molecular modeling has shown a useful tool to assist in the design of materials with ONL applications. Thus, we have calculated using computational chemistry methods (DFT - through the functionals B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP - and MP2) electrical properties, such as the first hyperpolarisability (ꞵ), as well as evaluating the inclusion of the solvent effect, in an attempt to determine a suitable methodology for reproducing the values obtained experimentally, which may assist in the design of new compounds with improved properties. The set of molecules evaluated comprised small aromatic compounds that contain acceptor groups (of the cyanovinyl type) and electron donors, which were previously investigated experimentally in solution (DMSO solvent) by Singer et al. (K. D. Singer, J. E. Sohn, L. A. King, H. M. Gordon, H. E. Katz, C. W. Dirk, J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 6, 1339, 1989). The DFT functional CAM-B3LYP performed well in relation to the method with the highest computational demand MP2. The inclusion of the solvent effect (SMD method) was important to obtain results comparable to the experimental results.

Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (SSTA), in four coastal hydrographic stations of Colombian Pacific Ocean, were analyzed. The selected hydrographic stations were: Tumaco (1°48'N-78°45'W), Gorgona island (2°58'N-78°11'W), Solano Bay (6°13'N-77°24'W) and Malpelo island (4°0'N-81°36'W). SSTA time series for 1960-2015 were calculated from monthly Sea Surface Temperature obtained from International Comprehensive Ocean Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS). SSTA time series, Oceanic Nino Index (ONI), Pacific Decadal Oscillation index (PDO), Arctic Oscillation index (AO) and sunspots number (associated to solar activity), were compared. It was found that the SSTA absolute minimum has occurred in Tumaco (-3.93°C) in March 2009, in Gorgona (-3.71°C) in October 2007, in Solano Bay (-4.23°C) in April 2014 and Malpelo (-4.21°C) in December 2005. The SSTA absolute maximum was observed in Tumaco (3.45°C) in January 2002, in Gorgona (5.01°C) in July 1978, in Solano Bay (5.27°C) in March 1998 and Malpelo (3.64°C) in July 2015. A high correlation between SST and ONI in large part of study period, followed by a good correlation with PDO, was identified. The AO and SSTA have showed an inverse relationship in some periods. Solar Cycle has showed to be a modulator of behavior of SSTA in the selected stations. It was determined that extreme values of SST are related to the analyzed large scale oscillations.

To regulate stress, social sharing is often used as a method. By talking to others, sharers can gain support that help them cope with their stress events [4]. However, people are not always comfortable sharing their stress events with others, such as the stigmatised issues [5]. In addition, people are not always able to find the right person to talk to. Their friends may be tired of hearing about the same issues [6]. Besides, professional help may be too expensive and require long waits [7].With the widespread use of conversational agent (CA), the CA should provide support for the users who encounter with daily stress to help them get socio-emotional benefits and therefore improve the user satisfaction [8]. At the same time, the gender of the CA should be considered as a factor which influence the user satisfaction of daily stress support.MethodsIn this study, we developed a 2 (CA genders)×3 (types of support) between-subject experiment on user satisfaction of CA with daily stress support function. The CA had two types of gender, including male and female. Three support types included control (without stress support function), stress (with stress detection and support function), and stressor (with stress and stressor detection, and provide support targeted at stressor) groups. So, there were six types of CA in this experiment.Participants (N = 76) were asked to share one personal daily stress experience with a CA, which was assigned from the six CAs randomly and provided support via the Wizard-of-Oz method (a human-operated CA).Results & DiscussionResults showed that participants felt better after sharing with the CA in stress group and stressor group, as evidenced by reduced stress intensity. The interaction experience of participants showed that the likeability, enjoyment, and user satisfaction of stress group were significantly higher than that of control group. While, the user satisfaction of stressor group had no significant difference with that of stress group. For the gender the CA, the female CA achieved higher likeability in control group and stress group. Meanwhile, the female CA achieved higher enjoyment, engagement, and user satisfaction in stressor group.According to the interview after the experiment, the participants in the stressor group proposed more requirements for the targeted advice from CA. They explained that they felt the high intelligent level of the CA. So, they were looking forward for the help from the CA for the solution of their daily stress events.ConclusionAccording to the above results, the support for daily stress from CA can improve the user satisfaction. Between different genders of CA, the female CA is more preferred in this study. What’s more, the CA should provide targeted advice for users with different stressors.Reference[1] Piazza, J. The haemostatometer is a new instrument which allows quantitative assessment of haemostasis by monitoring the pattern of haemostatic plug formation (HPF) which occurs in holes in polyethylene tubing through which unanticoagulated blood is flowing under standard conditions (1). The pattern and speed of blood coagulation, subsequent to HPF is also measured by the instrument. Eight healthy volunteers were tested before and 2hr, 5dy and 12dy after a single 600mg oral dose of aspirin. Maximum prolongation of HPF time occurred at 2hr (1.97 × baseline, p=<0.001) and the effect remained significant (p=<0.01) at 5dy. The pattern of the aspirin-induced effect on HPF was characteristic. The coagulation time was not affected by aspirin. In 4 patients with platelet release defects, the HPF time, but not the clotting time, was significantly prolonged (2.1 × controls, p= <0.01). In 4 patients with von Willebrand’s disease of different severities, platelet-collagen interaction was tested simultaneously with HPF by inserting a length of catgut into the tubing and measuring the time to cessation of blood flow (2).Both impaired HPF and ineffective formation of occlusive platelet thrombus on the catgut were observed. In haemophilia A patients, HPF time as well as clotting time was prolonged in some cases and in these, improvement of platelet function (shortened HPF time) occurred following factor VIII therapy. As diabetes mellitus may be associated with a prethrombotic state, 20 diabetics were tested and shown to have a shortened HPF time.(1) Gorog P, Kovacs I. Haemostasis, 16, 337-45, 1986.
