Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis focuses on a specific pathology affecting the abdominal section of the aorta, known as abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). An aneurysm involves a persistent and localized weakening of the vessel wall, leading to enlargements and bulges, causing recirculation and turbulence of blood flow. Our thesis outlines a methodology for geometric modeling of abdominal aneurysms. The process involves acquiring CT images, reconstructing the aorta 3D geometry, and isolating the aneurysm. The modeling phase begins by identifying and approximating the centerline of the aortic vessel using B-spline functions. The aortic wall is then partitioned and profiled using Fourier series. To evaluate its effectiveness, the developed technique is applied to a dataset of CT scans from patients. Reconstructions obtained from the scans are also presented as examples to detail each step of the procedure. In addition, a quantitative evaluation and rationale behind modeling parameters are explained. Then, as a first application, the modeling is integrated into a registration process for clinical diagnosis and follow-up.The geometrical modeling procedure developed is used in a pipeline for hemodynamic simulations and risk assessment, employing a reduced-order modeling approach to construct a reduced solution space. Simulations, utilizing parameterized geometries, are conducted under realistic conditions, and risk indicators are computed and linked to the geometrical representation using Radial Basis Functions interpolant. Finally, predictions on risk indicators are obtained for an unknown geometry. The results, despite being promising, can be further improved by appropriately augmenting the initial dataset. To address the aforementioned scarcity of clinical data, we devised an automated workflow for generating synthetic geometries. This approach allows for the identification of relevant geometry parameters and involves machine learning to generate a virtual patient population consistent with the original data. In addition to improving the predictive capability of reduced models, the method can also be applied prospectively for in-silico trials and studies involving virtual patient populations

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe work of this thesis is part of the research efforts that are currently being undertaken on segmentation and classification to ease radar images interpretation. Our thesis contributes to this research by proposing a semi-automatic scene analysis approach to assist the interpretation of images acquired by a synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Mainly, it is focused on the application of segmentation methods to classification and object recognition problems. Its aim is to propose fast and simple methods, easily comprehensible by non-expert users in image processing. The proposed approach is a two-stage algorithm. First, a SAR image partition is obtained in a non-supervised manner by using a statistical active grid based on the minimization of the stochastic complexity. Then, discriminative features (statistics, geometrics and texture parameters) are calculated for each extracted region in order to classify them in a semi-supervised manner. A hierarchical approach is adopted. In practice, the proposed algorithm provides an initial land use classification as well as confidence measures for each region. This initial classification can be used as an aid to the image interpretation or as a source of information for further processing

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleHydrological regime controls physical aquatic habitat conditions at two time scales : i) at short time scale, through variations of hydraulic conditions with discharge that directly affect biological processes; and ii) at large time scale, through adjustment and maintenance processes of the main-channel morphology and substrate, essentially generated by frequent floods. In order to link aquatic habitat to drainage basin characteristics through hydrological regime, this work focuses on a description of channel morphology and hydraulics as functions of discharge, relevant at river reach scale, especially at near bankfull flow. We selected two kinds of descriptors of the channel: bankfull discharge and reach hydraulic geometry. Bankfull discharge - considered here exclusively as an hydraulic variable - corresponds to the main channel capacity and is also assumed to represent the magnitude of the formative discharge in natural alluvial rivers. Reach hydraulic geometry provides an estimation of mean and variability of hydraulic conditions with varying discharge. These variables are more and more used as input data for biological models. We carried out topographical surveys and built a 1-d hydraulic model on 17 gauged river reaches mainly located in the loire river bassin, but also in the orgeval river basin and in the cévennes region (france). This model helped us to define a methodology to estimate bankfull discharge and reach hydraulic geometry. Finally we led a first comparison between these morphological variables and the river basin characteristics
