Annotation:

Kratos, protagonist of God of War (2005–current), is an archetypal representation of toxic masculinity. For much of the series, his rage drives much of the narrative and game dynamics, as Kratos destroys the entire Greek pantheon. The latest iteration of the series moves Kratos into Norse mythology and introduces a son. This father–son relationship allows the developers to ruminate upon the toxic masculinity that has defined much of the series’ past. Kratos’ trajectory moves from the flatness of one defining characteristic, rage, to an introspective consideration of this emotion and its consequences. A parabolic supporting cast set the stage, each illustrating an aspect of toxicity; as explored, the mother–son relationship between Freya and her son, Baldur, is given a poignant twist. Overall, this article investigates how God of War articulates characteristics of toxic masculinity, explores its repercussions, and offers lessons for its rehabilitation.

“Life is not arithmetic, and man is not made for the game of politics. For me, all political programmes and creeds should aim at the realization of the claims of man to survival and justice. I desire a transformation of the present social system” (Devi, Agnigarbha 8). Mahasweta Devi deafeningly explains that life is not the calculation in number or any game, it is larger than we expect and richer than we imagine. Generally considered the voice of marginalisedand downtrodden, she adamantly wanted to change the face of society making the existence of everyone in society equal. Everyone gets life the same way but they are born in society which becomes their fate. God makes everyone the same and we humans differentiate in the name of class, religion and economy. Devi advocates the transformation of existing laws and social systems that are not able to complete their duties and responsibilities towards common and marginalised people; they are surrounded merely by the toadies in the hands of a few powerful capitalists.She wrote for eighteen hours a day during the peak period of her career and gave a light to the nation about the plight of the people suffering under the democratic-masked authoritarian government. Devi, according to Samik Bandyopahyay, locates and unfolds “illegitimacy . . . spread throughout society, in the administration, in the cultural-intellectual establishment, in politics, in the existence of a whole antisocial fringe of killers prepared to serve the interests of any organized political force anywhere between the extremes of the Right and those of the Left” (Mother of 1084 viii).She worked for the rights and empowerment of the tribal people (Lodha and Shabar) of West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh states. She is praised for her vibrant tolerance to oppose the powerful rule that is mostly feared by majority of the male writers of the period. She became the light house of the scattered thoughts of the tribes and the outcome of the situation came to be known as Naxalites. Mahasweta Devi exposes the feudal system which is anti-tribal, anti-women, anti-poor and anti-tiller. Known as the voice of tribes, her novel Mother of 1084 is somewhat different, as in this novel, she not only talks about the plight of the proletariats but also covers so many social issues concerned with so called upper-class society which are unknown to common people. The present study aims at exploring all the social issues raised by the author in the novel Mother of 1084.

Annotation:

This study examined the relationship between masculine and feminine God images and psychological well-being. Based on the results of past research, it was hypothesized that people with more feminine images of God would have higher psychological well-being compared to those with more masculine images of God. Participants were 232 college students. A factor analysis indicated that God images did not fall into primarily masculine or feminine factors. Rather, three factors were found, which were labeled Loving Father, Controlling God, and Mother God. Although the God image factors were not found to be significant predictors of psychological well-being when intrinsic, extrinsic, and quest religiosity were controlled, the results suggested that the relationship between God images and psychological well-being may be mediated by intrinsic religiosity. It was concluded that development of more psychometrically sound measures of God images is needed to enhance future research on this topic.

The relationships between movement, emotion, and ritual communion in Byzantium have drawn the attention of art historians in recent years. While Henry Maguire has considered many facets of this subject, a monumental Late Byzantine icon, the Two-Sided Icon with the Virgin Pausolype, Feast Scenes, the Crucifixion and Prophets, suggests others. While the catalog entry by Annemarie Weyl Carr in Byzantium: Faith and Power remains the only published discussion of this particular icon, or even specifically of the Pausolype ("cease sorrow!") iconographic type, I believe that this image contributes significantly to our understanding of Late Byzantine culture and liturgical practice. Careful study of this particular icon encourages a consideration of the problematic subject of emotion, and its interactions with movement, ritual and art. The paucity of evidence makes it difficult to address specific devotional practices associated with this particular object, although some observations can be made. I am able, however, to align it with its iconographic antecedents and establish contemporary relationships, illuminating aspects of its original function.

ABSTRACT Agnes of God is the story of a nun (Agnes) who gets pregnant while living in a convent. She almost dies after giving birth to a baby, who was later found dead in a garbage can. The cast consists of three members: Agnes; Mother Miriam Ruth (Mother Superior); and Dr. Martha Livingstone, the court appointed psychiatrist. Faith is tested as Dr. Livingstone draws closer to uncovering the truth surrounding the conception, birth, and death of Agnes’ baby. I performed the role of Mother Superior in the UNO production of Agnes of God. This thesis documents my rehearsal and performance journey. It includes a rehearsal journal and an evaluation of my performance. The play was performed in the Lab Theatre of the Performing Arts Center on November 5 and 6; November 14 and 15; and on November 19 and 20. Agnes of God is based on a true story. Att ha ett brett språkregister har betydelse för vilka möjligheter individen ges för att kunna verka i samhället. Språket är nyckeln för att bland annat kunna uttrycka sig, stärka identiteten och sätta sig in i andra individers kulturer, tankar och sätt att se på världen. Färdigheter, motivation, strategier och tidigare kunskap ingår i läsförståelseutvecklingen och beskrivs som ett rörligt och målmedvetet förlopp. Uppdraget som ligger hos skolan är att hjälpa eleverna att stärka sitt självförtroende kring läsning så att motivationen och intresset för läsning ökar. Finns självförtroendet, väcks motivationen och intresset vilket i sin tur ökar chanserna att eleverna på fritiden väljer att läsa. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka relationen kring läsförståelse och motivationsfrämjande stöd i grundskolan. Uppsatsen ger en överblick över forskningen om läsförståelsen bland svenska elever, tar upp vilka orsakerna bakom den försämrade läsförståelsen kan tänkas vara, förklarar varför det är viktigt att elever besitter god läsförståelse samt redogör för vad konsekvenserna blir om eleverna inte besitter kunskapen. Vidare belyser uppsatsen motivationens roll för att främja elevers utveckling av sin läsförståelse, i vilken utsträckning motivationen kan påverka elevers läsförståelse samt vilka faktorer som ligger bakom att individer blir motiverade och hur lärare kan nyttja motivationsfrämjande stöd i sin undervisning. Begreppen läsförståelse och motivation definieras, samt en redogörelse presenteras kring vad som utgör dessa två begrepp. Relationen mellan läsförståelse och motivation har i forskningen visat sig vara aningen vag, då det inte är tydligt hur stor påverkan motivation har för god läsförståelse. Trots detta har motivation ändå en relevans för läsförståelse då det ses som en av byggstenarna som utgör begreppet läsförståelse. Vår slutsats kring motivationens relation till läsförståelse är att motivationen spelar en betydande roll kring läsutveckling och läsförståelse och att motivationsfrämjande stöd bör ges till alla elever baserat på deras individuella förutsättningar.

Interviews were conducted with 44 highly religious women from three demographics: Mennonite, Evangelical Christians and Cajun Catholics. The results provide insight into the reasons that faith appears to play a part in making motherwork a deliberate choice for many women. Comparing and contrasting the interviews within and between demographics as well as allowing for the influences of modern academia and media on attitudes toward motherwork grants voice to these often marginalized religious minorities. The resulting analysis shows that all of these women, to varying degrees, find value in motherwork. Each group seemed to have a perspective of this work which was unique between and yet common within the specific demographic. Across groups was a pronounced unity of thought that motherwork is profoundly important and that one is culpable before God in her execution of this potentially divine work

"Objective: The goal of this research was to explore the influence of power and social distance on individual fair perception in the context of income. Methods: College students were selected to investigate and 197 answers, including 58 boys and 139 girls. Average age was 22.01 years (SD=2.52). The subjects were randomly divided into different groups, including 62 mothers ,75 friends and 60 strangers. The experimental design was 2[power: low power(be a responder), high power(be an allocators)]×3[social distance: near (mother), middle (friend), far (stranger)] mixed experimental design. There is one allocator and two responders in the game. The experiment was divided into two subtasks according to the role of the participants: Subtask 1, stranger A is allocator, the participant is one responder, and the other responder is Mother/Friend/Stranger B. Subtask 2, the participant is allocator, stranger A is one responder, the other responder is still Mother/Friend/Stranger B. Results: (1) The participants had a lower sense of fairness to the same distribution scheme when their role changed from responder to allocator. (2) When friends and strangers got more money than themselves, the participants had a lower sense of fairness. (3) No matter what kind of distribution scheme, as long as the sum of the amount of money received by the participant and his mother is the same, he had the same fairness perception. Conclusion: First, the change of power will affect the individual's fair perception, and the higher demand for fairness after the power increases; Second, the influence of social distance reflects the characteristics of the Chinese self, that is, the self of Chinese people contains his/her mother."

Abstract: The article will examin one of Le Corbusier's more emblematic works: the Ronchamp Chapel. The aim is to discover some of the intentionalities hidden within the design of this work by the swiss architect. It will start with the following considerations of Le Corbusier about the Ronchamp chapel:“it began with the acoustics of the landscape taking the four horizons as a reference...to respond to these horizons, to accomodate them, shapes were created…” And: “ Shapes make noise and silence; some speak and others listen...”And again: “ Ear can see proportions. It's possibile to hear the music of visual proportion” (Le Corbusier). The article sustains that the church is nothing but a giant acoustic machine dedicated to Virgin Mary which main purpose is the listening of the prayers. Infact in the Christian religion Mary is the very vehicle between God and man , she has a human but also divine nature since she is the mother of Jesus. To get in contact with the divine it is necessary to pray Mary, she can listen to man's prayers but she can also pass down God's word to man. In support of this hypothesis there stands an analogy between the chapel's map and the image section of a human ear, highlighting the coincidence between the altar position and that of cochlea, which shape is so dear to le Corbusier that he makes use of it very often in his work. The paper presents some aspects and practical solutions of weight bearing joints treatment for patients with osteoarthritis and following by the rehabilitation process, which has realized at Recovery Clinical Hospital of Felix Spa. A model of human body under applied and conjunction forces explains the damping and shocks into synovial joints from elastic modulus of bone cartilages in contact and variation of dynamic viscosity’s synovial fluid and spine fluid. The conservative treatment of osteoarthritis involves balneal-physical-kinetic therapy or balneal-physical-kinetic recovery treatment, which must be repeated periodical, every six months to get good results. In addition, a vibration treatment of patients with osteoarthritis combines with balneal-conservative treatment is proposed. This vibration treatment system is composed of vibration bed, electrical motor to generate the vibration with direct adjustment of frequency by a digital frequency convertor, and a command panel system of measurement, analysis and interpretation of data from FFT electronic vibration gage. These combination treatments have assured an amelioration of patients with osteoarthritis and improving the bio-lubrication between cartilages of synovial joints, respectively of fluid spine.

For the TOTAL E&P Angola (TEPA) PAZFLOR field development, the decision was taken at the tender stage to propose an innovative diverless Bend Stiffener Fixation system (BSF) to connect the flexible risers to the FPSO. Avoiding diving intervention was driven primarily in order to minimize weather downtime during this critical offshore installation phase. Technip decided to develop its own system to retain full control of the design process and ensure it fulfilled all the installation constraint requirements. The patented system consists of a 3 part clamp activated by a hydraulic motor controlled from topside. An innovative disconnection device is used to release the riser pulling head once the bend stiffener is clamped to the I-tube. The development of the BSF was handled by an integrated team as a “project within the project”. From the start a robust design gate review process was applied to rapidly freeze the design of the system main components and enable the initial order placement of the long lead items. This was critical to ensure on time delivery to the FPSO Contractor. Extensive full scale testing was performed to ensure good reliability of all the system components. This testing enabled further optimization of parts of the system, particularly the items mounted on the risers to provide the maximum operability. Finally the involvement of the installation team from the onset ensured that robust installation procedures and operations were developed. The hook-up operations for the 21 risers was conducted safely with no weather downtime and with a riser connection cycle faster than planned. This proves that implementation of innovative design solutions can be successfully managed from initial concept to final installation within a project environment, ultimately enabling faster hand over for first oil.

Digital hydraulics is an emerging field in fluid power, complementing conventional hydraulic and potentially improving efficiency and dynamic performance. High speed electrically controlled on/off valves are key enablers for many digital hydraulic systems, and specifically for digital pump/motors. This work investigates a 4-quadrant 3-piston digital pump/motor utilizing two electrically controlled high speed on/off valves per displacement chamber. The test unit was simulated, built, and experimentally tested. Simulation and experimental results showed the importance of valve response times on the overall performance and efficiency of the digital pump/motor, where a small error in the delay in the valve opening or closing could lead to significant energy losses. To minimize the impact of valve variability, a real-time valve correction algorithm was developed to account for the error in valve timing. The algorithm uses the pressure readings at the low and high pressure ports to detect the time at which the pressure ripple occurred and then obtain the delay in the valve timing. It calculates the turn-on and turn-off valve delay times in all displacement chambers in a three-piston pump with two valves per chamber, detecting a total of 12 valve delay times. The code was tested for sequential flow diverting and sequential flow limiting operating modes at a wide range of displacement (25% to 100%) with pressures ranging from 25 bar to 105 bar and shaft speeds up to 700 rpm (limited by the valves speed). It was also tested for flow diverting mode and gave good results for displacements between 70% and 100%. The error in the calculated delay times was below 5% in all of the tested conditions, providing major improvements to the digital pump system, and to digital hydraulics in general.

Background: Prevalence of adolescents’ unwanted pregnancy is relatively high in Asia (43%), Africa (45%), and both Latin America and Caribbean (74%). Unwanted pregnancy at an early age is correlated with social consequences as well as increased health risks for both mother and infants. Peer-based intervention is a program to promote sexual and reproductive health, including the prevention of unwanted pregnancy. This study aimed to assess the influence of peer-based intervention on unwanted pregnancy prevention behaviors in adolescents. Subject dan Method: Meta-analysis was conducted based on PRISMA guidelines. Articles with randomized controlled trial design published in 2000-2020 were included for meta-analysis. These articles were searched from PubMed, Science Direct, Research Gate, and Google Scholar databases. Keyword used “peer education” OR “peer led” OR “peer counseling” OR “peer approach” OR “peer teaching” OR “peer mentoring” AND “unwanted pregnancy” AND adolescent AND “randomized controlled trial”. Articles that met eligibility criteria were analyzed using Revman 5.4. Results: Ten articles met the criteria for a meta-analysis with sample size 15,439. This study showed that peer-based intervention (RR=1.12; 95% CI=0.95 to 1.32; p=0.160) improved unwanted pregnancy prevention behavior in adolescents, but it was statistically non-significant. Conclusion: Peer-based intervention improves unwanted pregnancy prevention behavior in adolescents, but it is statistically non-significant. Shape memory alloys (SMA) have been an extensively used material for actuators in micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) because actuation force and displacement are greatest in SMA amongst many actuator materials [1]. Of the alloys currently available for SMA actuators, the most popular system is Nitinol (or NiTi) due to its good oxidation resistance, reversible martensitic transformation, broad range of transformation temperatures (from -100 - 100 °C), and specific power density [2]. Current commercially available SMA wire has easily achieved no-load strain of 5% with medium gage SMA wires demonstrating an axial force capacity of 2 Newtons or more. While the potential use of SMA materials in a thermal-electric motor has been documented beginning in the 1980's, there are a number of new allows and fatigue-resistant materials that may lead to more general designs with a wide range of motions and applications. Shape memory alloys are a special type of material that exhibit two unique properties, pseudo-elasticity and shape memory effect (SME). SMA undergoes SME because of martensitic or diffusionless transformation where each atom has a slight displacement, creating observable changes throughout the structure as the allow changes states. This alloy has the ability, once heated, to return to its parent austenite phase where it exists at higher symmetry. Upon cooling, the material returns to one of many lower symmetry martensitic phases. This thermal cycle is shown in Figure 1. [3,4]. It is even possible for many variants of martensite to be present in the same material. Pseudo-elasticity is a rubber-like flexibility that allows the SMA to be contorted for a variety of purposes. Once contorted, the application of heat will cause the alloy to undergo martensitic transformation. Upon completion of the cycle, the alloy will have returned to its original shape. The development of SMA-based electromechanical devices delivers traditional mechanical motion with non-traditional methods. Rather than electromagnetic components rotating about a central axis to produce power, the rotary SMA motor utilizes contracting elements, and mush as spark ignition rotary engine, it can be designed to produce angular motion. Motion is accomplished with sequenced electrical signals sent across each element mounted between an eccentric crank. Rotary motion is produced during the power portion of the cycle for specific SMA elements under the application of an electrical signal. Based on this concept, our team developed a demonstration model with four active elements. We have demonstrated rotary motion of the device for an extended period of time, and we believe that macro-scale models can reduce the concept substantially and perhaps to the MEMS level.
